r/eero · Eero Pro 6E and Eero 6+ Review: Fast and Easy →2022-04-05T15:09:58

If someone cares a lot about wireless backhaul, has no 6E devices and there’s a lot of 2.4 & 5ghz devices / interference around my network. Would you say the jump from Pro 6 to Pro 6E is worth it, primarily for the backhaul?

If just one, backhaul capacity is a non-issue. I would go 6+ over 6 pro just because of that 160 MHz extra channel. Makes a huge difference IMO.

Yep same I have 3 x Eero 6+ in a long old double brick semi and it works a treat. No need to hardwire anything. I used to have TP-Link but the Eeros are much easier to setup and more reliable.

r/amazoneero · Will the Amazon eero 6+ mesh wifi system improve my wifi range and speeds? →2023-05-30T12:24:42

I have 6+ but they are all wired back haul. We have the isp connection on one end of the house and got very poor reception at the other side where the bedrooms are until I purchased the 3-pack. I started with eero 5 and upgraded to 6+ for faster wifi for the devices we have that take advantage. From what I remember the Pro 6 system carries a 3rd radio frequency for customers that can’t wire these pucks: 2.4 and 5ghz for clients and the 3rd frequency for the picks to interconnect with each other. My wired mesh system works great for me, the isp modem is in bridge mode and one eero puck is the gateway while the other two picks are access points and with a second Ethernet port, I’m able to connect a switch to them for wired devices nearby.

I was in a similar situation. I have xfinity 1 gig, but was using a Netgear Nighthawk gaming router to try to cover a 2-storey 2,000 sq foot house. I had lots of issues. Instead of going with xfinity pods, I opted for a 3-pack of eero 6+. It solved all my WiFi issues. I connected all eeros via ethernet cables (wired backhaul), 2 on the upper level, 1 on ground level. I put the Xfinity modem in bridged mode (WiFi off). Speedtest on iPhone, I get 700-800 in the same room as an eero, and 400-600 in other rooms.

    r/eero · Eero Pro 6E review: faster Wi-Fi but flakier performance →2022-05-06T02:20:59

I've had an Eero 5 Pro and have a 6+. It's like comparing a faster laptop with integrated graphics with a slightly slower laptop with a dedicated graphics card. If the faster performance and lower latency I'm getting with the 6+ is the outcome, then they made the right choice. It's also similar to the Android vs iPhone argument. Androids have usually had higher specs (8gb memory, etc), but iPhones are generally faster.

    r/amazoneero · Eero 6+ and Pro 6E Thoughts? →2025-02-26T19:32:53

I think that you can usually find adapters for $50-$60 each. FWIW, think that you would getter better and more reliable results with say a set of Eero 6+ and MoCA backhaul than a more expensive mesh with wireless backhaul.

    r/amazoneero · New Eero Pro 6e experience! →2022-11-28T23:35:23

You only have 1.2gbps service so you don’t really need multi gig or 6ghz, it’s not going to provide a meaningful difference in your case using a wired backhaul. Maybe if the Pro 6E had two multi gig ports it might be more worthwhile but you’re going to be bottlenecked to the speeds of the 6+.

r/amazoneero · Did I make a huge mistake? Kept Pro 6E and returned Nest Pro, significantly worse performance... →2022-11-19T01:47:15

Your experience is similar to mine, although my results in the early days are a bit more extreme in favor of Nest Pro. I’ve had my 2 eero Pro 6e units in a 2500sqft house for a few months now, and it’s never wowed me. I’ve had the best stability with wireless backhaul after struggling wired backhaul in various valid and supported configurations (including 3 separate unmanaged switches). Like you, I have two LG TVs that are problematic, but I think the TVs themselves are at least partially at fault. I have issues with upnp and Xbox, and random hangs during DNS lookups, as well as latency spikes. Streaming TV services have all buffered regularly, and I’ve tried 3. I’ve pursued all of these issues with support and replaced both units. Issues still persist. Another concern for me with the eero is speed from the wireless node, which has been increasingly inconsistent with each firmware update. I’ve also tried the 6+ with the same issues. As far as speeds on my 550/20 connection, the best I’ve seen from eero is 350/20. Not bad, but it’s far from consistent. The Nest Pro has been installed for a week and is hitting 550/20 (wireless backhaul) every time. At this price point, and in my environment, it’s wiping the floor with the eero. Latency is more consistent and everything just feels more predictable. It’s early days, so who knows if it will stay this way. I keep hoping that things will improve for the eero, but it’s really just been getting worse. I’ll keep them around and hope for a miracle or two.

Wireless. It's been rock solid. I think it's a cutting edge device without being bleeding edge ( 6E ).

I grabbed the pro 6, after doing alotttt of research over these devices. I mean ive been combing through the interwebs like crazy trying to find something solid, I have asked alot of people, practically interviewing them. Seems like the 6E would be a waste, IDC what they say about the offloading lol, still a rip off imo. the 6+ just seemed "okay" but the pro 6 seemed to be the best bang for buck. You got processing and ram, decent AX wifi, and its been out for a bit so its had more of a chance to hopefully iron out some issues compared to new routers that, like you said, tend to be flaky. I set this baby up and so far its been performing very very well, I would almost argue as well as the Alien Amplifi I had, only that thing was a beast when it came to wifi speeds. TBH though, I dont NEED gig wifi speeds lmao, 5-700 is absolutely beyond fast enough. If the LAN connection and speeds are smooth and stable, thats where my hearts at, I don't have alot of wifi devices. Just my wife and I. Couple iphone's, couple computers, couple xbox's, very simple network. Only reason I even got gig speeds was cuz the price point for 250/250 was ten bucks less than gig lol, was kind of a no brainer to get 4x that. More value for the $. Thats usually how I try to look at all things.
