IVPN

r/IVPN · Does IVPN have anything like DAITA? Not yet, but it's on our roadmap for this year - on the IVPN apps side macos split tunneling and DAITA-type implementation are up next after Windows/Linux ARM release.
r/IVPN · Proposal: Limited port forwarding on isolated P2P-only servers I'm going to leave this open as it's relevant, breaks no rules etc. however - we won't be bringing port forwarding back in the foreseeable future. I won't say ever, but it's unlikely. Sorry.
r/IVPN · Question Pricing and benefits for our new Standard plan is very similar to Mullvad. I don’t think the “why you are paying more for this” framing holds up. We also have more expensive plans with other services bundled in, we see a healthy % of new signups going with Plus or Pro Suite. There is no port forwarding support, we removed it after Mullvad as many that abused it there moved to IVPN after, we had no choice.
r/IVPN · Hello i would like to learn more a bit this VPN Besides the earlier answers I can answer the subpoenas part -> [https://www.ivpn.net/en/legal-process-guidelines/](https://www.ivpn.net/en/legal-process-guidelines/) this page has all details on this and we honour it to the letter.
r/IVPN · Unstable connection through Finland server We had multiple reports about this, and can confirm intermittent issues are likely due to outdated hardware, it's not on your end. We see ample amount of customers connecting to it without any issues, so we made the decision to keep it operational and work on the hardware upgrade, which we will schedule soon. Thanks for bearing with us.
r/IVPN · Split Tunneling on macOS? It's on our roadmap for this year and we indent to make it happen - no promises beyond this. I can't comment on the workaround, perhaps some community members tested this method recently.
r/IVPN · Block adult content This feature (and more) is included in modDNS, our DNS filtering service -> https://moddns.net, you can set it up to work with IVPN. Included in IVPN Plus & Pro Suite. For this reason we won’t add more features like this to the built-in Antitracker.
r/IVPN · My ivpn is down Hello! We had a backend change yesterday causing issues with WireGuard keys on Android for some users. It was fixed a couple of hours after occurrance. Can you please try: 1. Regenerate WireGuard keys (Protocol Settings / WireGuard details) \- if still persists - 2. Log out and log in again to the Android app Thanks.
r/IVPN · IVPN apps now run natively on ARM - Windows and Linux support other protocols - possible but not prioritised for now. streaming is unlikely, it’s not really something we want to get into (massive resource sink / not enough requests to justify it).
r/IVPN · Does IVPN have anything like DAITA? Vouchers are available via proxysto.re, won’t be available on Amazon in the foreseeable future
r/IVPN · Payment Methods Privacy We can process a refund and this possible - what I would suggest is creating a new account ID for the next payment.
r/IVPN · Thinking about switching to IVPN? 5-day test voucher offer As a very high level line of thought I can respond that a VPN service that stays super niche and does not try to attract new users *in any way* is not going to stay alive with hundreds of competitors looking to eat their lunch. Btw. prices did not drop, we just added more devices to the plans. I understand the frustration however and I agree a change in experience like that is not ideal.
r/IVPN · Thinking about switching to IVPN? 5-day test voucher offer Noted, and while finding a durable solution for this problem is hard, we will consider our options carefully to improve the situation.
r/IVPN · IVPN is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer / Sysadmin (UTC-1 to UTC+3) We usually get hundreds of applicants for a position and thoroughly vet candidates in final stages for history/background. Frankly, the chances of such a play being successful overall is incredibly slim, and the “prize” is minimal or unclear (no single employee can start logging / redesign systems / etc.). Possible, not plausible.
r/IVPN · Would IVPN be blocking downloading tor browser? I cannot test this right now, but if it's blocked it's definitely due to the source blocking the gateway IP, not due to anything that's done on the IVPN side.
r/IVPN · modDNS down earlier? Issue is on and off and does not affect all users. Root cause is routing issues after a server maintance that our ISP has to resolve.

r/IVPN · Hello i would like to learn more a bit this VPN Of all the VPNs I have seen, IVPN has been the most transparent. You can literally see who operates this VPN on their website. u/viktorivpn (from IVPN) is also very active in the privacy community. I got to try the VPN through a give away (when they launched mailx) a while back. Ended up purchasing top ups before the giveaway period ended as I was extremely impressed by the apps and the ethos of the company. As for privacy and security, IVPN has never been a part of a breach or controversy. They also have products like mailx and moddns which are new but have a lot of potential. IVPN has a no logs policy and you can pay with cryptocurrency. They conduct third party audits which are proof enough of their claims. If you want very private VPNs from a company with good track record in security, you only have two options: IVPN and mullvad. Considering the recent controversy with mullvad, that shows you where the leadership's values lie. Their management is literally supporting a party vocal for surveillance while the company is putting ads every where against surveillance. At this time, in the whole VPN market, if you want the best vpn for privacy, you can't get better than IVPN. The IVPN suite with Portmaster is just chef's kiss. Love the service ❤️
r/IVPN · Should I choose IVPN Obviously Yes! I have used both. For me IVPN is faster. Both are good in privacy aspect. The thing you should focus on is speed. The one that gives you faster speeds is the on you should choose.

r/ProtonVPN · Is ProtonVPN still a good option in 2025 for general privacy and Netflix? For privacy I would say Mullvad and IVPN is better because they don't need any information from you, and easier to buy anon subscriptions from them. Speed and latency is the best with Proton. Captchas and blocks are also frequent with Proton
r/IVPN · Just Got IVPN Pro Suite, Have some questions. 1. Anything closer to you if fine. IVPN is a no log VPN, doesn't matter which one you connect. You can use multi-hop if you are on paranoid mode. 2. No idea 3. [https://app.moddns.net/faq](https://app.moddns.net/faq) and [https://app.moddns.net/setup](https://app.moddns.net/setup) should be enough
r/IVPN · Just Got IVPN Pro Suite, Have some questions. Yes, Obfuscation with V2Ray is available on iOS

r/IVPN · AI slop on the pricing page? I agree that it's dissapointing. I'd rather look at a random stock image than anything AI generated. Using AI generated content is for me an instant red flag and may even stop me from using a service. Could be the case for other people as well, so in my opinion it would be better for IVPN to put something else there to avoid controversy and losing customers.

r/IVPN · Question As an IVPN user, I don’t know if they support port forwarding since I don’t do torrents, but I can tell you for sure, all their servers are self hosted, and in 3 countries they have ram only servers. Their privacy policy is pretty clear you can go read it. They provide automatic daily/weekly/monthly key rotation for wireguard or you can set after how many days you want the wireguard key to rotate from 1 up to 30, their app lets you use custom DNS over HTTPS or TLS. And I have found their IPs are pretty clean in reputation. Although they have less locations and less servers and their servers are only 1 gigabit as far as I know. They support IPv6 on wireguard on most servers. Now that they changed the plans, with plus and suite you get mailx, moddns and with suite only you get port master as well and 10 device limit with the pro suite. With the standard you get basically the VPN service and 5 device limit (5 device limit on the plus as well).

r/IVPN · Annual security audit scheduled for 2026 This is what i love about ivpn, their commitment for improvement and development. Can’t wait to see what’s coming and hopefully you guys will be able to move everything to RAM only servers
r/IVPN · Question Used to be mullvad fan for over a decade but then i stopped once i saw they started dodging all the chat control topics and then the huge issue with their servers being detected by most sites was also a drawback for me. I started using ivpn the last few years and I wasn’t disappointed, their support is very solid and they try their hardest to fix your issues if there’s any. With their latest update that came along with some solid choices of bundles i feel like ivpn has achieved what others won’t be able to for the next few years. I have huge respect for these guys and i will stick to them for longer if not forever because i feel like they’re the top dogs at this point, maybe i will come back to mullvad if they take their shit serious again and have better things to impress me with than ivpn but for now they’re just sinking slowly.
r/IVPN · New users Don’t have any issues with speed and have been using Mullvad for a decade i was a pro mullvad back then but few months ago they just started showing no interest in improving their services nor their Apps. With ivpn its just straight up easy to use and don’t forget you can add 2FA to your account for an additional protection, servers are doing great for me too i always connect to those close and even if I don’t the speed decrease isn’t big compared to other providers.
r/IVPN · Weird issue on iOS I lose connectivity to ivpn apis which is why I don’t see any ip address of the location that I connected to and with that it doesn’t let me use any if not all apps that i use or sometimes they do work but still.

r/IVPN · AutoStart IVPN-UI (GUI) on linux (arch) The keyring entries are an unintended side effect of upgrading IVPN App's graphical interface to Electron v42. The newer version of Chromium (Electron's browser engine) automatically creates these entries on Linux to store encryption keys for browser features, even though the IVPN App does not actively use them. Until a fixed `ivpn-ui` package is released, one option involves downgrading the IVPN App. It might be enough to downgrade only `ivpn-ui` to v3.15.6, or you might have to downgrade the base `ivpn` package to `3.15.6` as well. It is valid for the `ivpn` base package to have a higher version number than the `ivpn-ui` graphical interface package, but not the other way around. The AUR offers a `downgrade package: ``` yay -S downgrade sudo downgrade ivpn-ui sudo downgrade ivpn # possibly optional ``` Ref: https://github.com/archlinux-downgrade/downgrade/blob/main/doc/downgrade.8.ronn https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/linux-unix/how-to-downgrade-packages-in-arch-linux/
r/IVPN · IVPN Error The unofficial Homebrew package of the IVPN App is not officially supported. The best way to proceed is by logging out of the app, if logged in, (`ivpn logout`), uninstalling it from your computer system, rebooting the computer system, then installing it via the installer from the IVPN website: https://www.ivpn.net/apps-macos/
r/IVPN · Split tunneling based on IP range? Add a firewall exception to the IVPN App plus a static route to the client device, and it could be possible. This KB article offers details with an example at the bottom: https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/general/firewall-exceptions/
r/IVPN · Ex yu not working, kinda IVPN's focus is privacy and security and if there is any access to video streaming services, like Amazon, Netflix, the BBC, Hulu, Disney+, etc., it is a bonus and not a feature we guarantee to be available all the time (or ever): https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/general/can-i-access-hulu-or-netflix-or-bbc-iplayer-using-ivpn/
r/IVPN · Payment Methods Privacy The 30-day refund window is for the most recent payment on the account. It is possible to resynchronize existing Mailx/modDNS/Portmaster accounts with a new IVPN account. The process involves logging into the new IVPN account, and making use of a synchronization link for each service. Contact __support at ivpn dot__ net for details.
r/IVPN · AutoStart IVPN-UI (GUI) on linux (arch) > Is this something you will fix anytime soon? Possibly yes, though there no ETA.
r/IVPN · Connection is forcibly closed when I try to login You might have to use a manual VPN connection as a way to allow the IVPN App to bypass whatever blocks the login and access to the authentication servers. The process will require a few steps: - set up the manual VPN - connect the manual VPN - log into the IVPN App using your Account ID - disconnect the manual VPN - after logging in, use the IVPN App to manage the VPN connection Manual configuration guides can be found at the bottom of the IVPN App's download page for all the popular platforms: https://www.ivpn.net/apps/
r/IVPN · Issue Installing iVPN on Ubuntu Building from source is the only option for now: https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/linux/building-the-ivpn-cli-client-for-linux-on-a-raspberry-pi/ Otherwise, consider using a manual VPN connection. Guides at the bottom of the page: https://www.ivpn.net/apps-linux/
r/IVPN · Issue Installing iVPN on Ubuntu Is your CPU 32-bit? Does it use the ARM architecture? The commands from u/cipherblock will reveal the answers. The IVPN App is currently only available amd64 systems. ARM packages are coming soon.

r/IVPN · Should I choose IVPN Both have great Linux support but I rate IVPN's higher. There's a tiny bit of jank with IVPN but nothing that's a deal breaker. Unfortunately I'd say neither are good for torrenting since they lack port forwarding.
r/IVPN · New users The front end of this app could use some work, but after my initial hurdles and it became a matter of set and forget the functional side of it has been great so far. Have to admit I still think Mullvad was the better all round experience, but on the flip side that recent scandal is enough for me to stay with IVPN going forward. I get the impression the devs of the app expect a greater level of competence from their users in comparison, which means it's giving you more options, but that's a double edged sword for casual users. The one exception I'd give is their set up for Fedora Atomic is a bit more coherent than how Mullvad laid it out.
r/IVPN · How is IVPN's Linux client? It does the job but the UX feels a bit jankier compared to Mullvad. Some pet peeves of mine include: \- When you have the app minimised in the tray it doesn't open when you click on it for some reason. Bizarrely I had a very similar issue on Graphene where when I try open the app via the VPN dock it will open the Android settings page for the IVPN app rather than just going directly to the app. \- \*EXTREMELY\* nit picky but the close and minimise icons in the top right corner feels very cheap looking. \- The settings are good but it's way more to get your head around. \- No DAITA type solution if that's a deal breaker for you I'll still give credit where credit is due, being able to have it auto connect to the fastest server is good and it let's you choose the aggressiveness of the DNS content blockers. But in all honesty I wouldn't consider myself a power user so found all the choice it gave me more annoying than anything. Also I love how unlike Mullvad they gave some easy to follow documentation for installing on Fedora Atomic. Chances are I'm going to stick with them because of Mullvad's recent bad press but I'm going into it acknowledging that I much preferred Mullvad to IVPN's app. Mullvad felt way easier to use in comparison. IVPN has a lot more pressing stuff on their to do list, but having a UI/UX overhaul would be a meaningful nice to have.

r/IVPN · Should I choose IVPN I've been using NYM lately, and I like the privacy structure. The event is even more stable now, but there is still room for improvement; it occasionally freezes the connection. I wanted to try IVPN, but I'm not sure if it's just me, but it also stopped working suddenly. In macOS, I have to restart the laptop because it blocks the internet connection, and in iOS, it also stops working suddenly, so I'm not sure if it's just me or a setting.

r/IVPN · Should I choose IVPN I switched from Mullvad to IVPN just last month. Give one a try, if you don't like it just switch to the other when your month is up. Personally, I like that IVPN supports OpenVPN (Mullvad dropped that earlier this year). I don't like the reduced exit nodes locations (to reduce YouTube adverts). Aside from that, both should probably do what you need.
r/IVPN · New users I moved from Mullvad on Saturday. A pleasant surprise was that IVPN supports OpenVPN, as Mullvad dropped that a while back & it's quite useful for me. The immediately obvious downside is the choice of exit nodes. Albania was quite handy on Mullvad for YouTube to reduce adverts.

r/IVPN · How reliable is IVPNs killswitch? I am using it via VPN, and they block my stuff often *sigh*
r/IVPN · How reliable is IVPNs killswitch? Which OS/device are you using? Here they explain that it has a kill switch / firewall for all desktop OS but not for mobile (iOS up to 15): [https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/general/do-you-offer-a-kill-switch-or-vpn-firewall/](https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/general/do-you-offer-a-kill-switch-or-vpn-firewall/) They also explicitly mention the case you wrote: Many events could cause the network to be reconfigured suddenly and without notice which could expose your personal IP address. For example: Disconnection from or connection to Wi-Fi or wired network. Weak Wi-Fi signal which causes Wi-Fi to reconnect. As for any "bugs" during usage, I cannot comment on that though..
r/IVPN · only countries/cities are listed? You can see that info on the homepage: https://www.ivpn.net/en/status/ But I agree, that it would be nicer in the app itself.
r/IVPN · How is IVPN's Linux client? > Lastly and I know this is likely not possible: am I able to watch YouTube with IVPN or will it block me due to bot detection on the IP level like with the large majority of Mullvad's servers? So far had good experiences with IVPN servers and rather less blocking than with Mullvad. A short comment on the split tunneling: not sure if there is a way without interacting but it is a bit easier as you can click on the task bar icon, select split tunneling and all apps will appear in a selectable list with recently used ones being at the top. So, if you have to often split tunnel an app, it's just two clicks.
r/IVPN · Does IVPN have anything like DAITA? That would be really awesome as netflow analysis is already a business
r/IVPN · Payment Methods Privacy I would second the cash option or going for a voucher via Proxystore. But another thought: you know they have a 30 day refund policy, right? https://www.ivpn.net/en/refunds/

r/IVPN · Switching from AdGuard... so far so good AdGuard is great for Ad-Home DNS based blocking as they’ve years of experience on that end but as a VPN provider not so much, there’s no comparison IVPN as far far more established in infrastructure and client features with many years of earned trust from the privacy community in the VPN space. You’ve made the right move.
r/IVPN · 2-month usage review (8/10) You summed up the pros quite well but the mobile clients have usually worked great for years, the only wonkiness I’ve seen is from iOS while rebooting the device on connect or switching between providers sometimes there’s an infinite loop with the connection failure to said server but can usually be resolved by deleting and re adding the VPN configuration. like the other post said it’s likely on your end. About ram only servers…perhaps more man power is needed for completion, IVPN is currently looking for an Infrastructure engineer, it seems like the job candidate to fill the position has been difficult for them to find, maybe this has a correlation with the delay of full roll out, just a thought. and for YouTube use Mullvad browser and never worry about ads/trackers again…And, about US servers even selecting an east coast server while being located in the western US isn’t ideal so it’s no surprise that from across the ocean you’d have high latency, that’s expected.
r/IVPN · Does IVPN have anything like DAITA? A bit behind schedule on this feature Viktor as per your blog post countering traffic analysis threats was on the roadmap for sometime in 2025. But let’s focus on the positive, since I last posted a couple of months ago I want to say that IVPNs new price restructuring now keeps outstanding value making the standard plan viable and puts you very close in value to your closest competitor…props on this. By the way, ModDNS seems to be making good process any ETA on official release?

r/IVPN · Slow speeds 330 Down, 120 Up on a 1Gig Symmetrical connection. (WireGuard, closest server to me). My bigger problem, is ever since the new update, HORRENDOUS OpenVPN performance. The speeds were always slow, but that's fine. What's not fine is at some time (when it begins), EVERY single link I click, takes 3-5 seconds of just random browser load hanging, and then everything all at once instantly loads like a normal connection would. I don't understand what this is, but it make Open VPN feel like shit. Everything has to hang for a few seconds before content starts to load or process at all.

r/IVPN · New users I too have came from a mixture of using Mullvad & Proton. I keep coming back to IVPN and subscribing but with the other providers having more servers and features I do find myself switching back and forth testing each app. I get far greater speeds with Proton and Mullvad and am really hoping for big changes from IVPN with more users signing up, although they do state it's a smaller server list etc so maybe I shouldn't expect too much generally.
r/IVPN · Slow speeds Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg to name a few that I've tested. I'm coming from Proton which probably isn't fair to compare with as they have many more servers with better capabilities but naturally I guess you go with the best product, although I keep paying and testing IVPN as I like it and want it to get better.
r/IVPN · New users For me it's refreshing to sign up and not have to input an email address, this one thing I like about it for sure and that's before accessing the actual product, this is also one of the big plusses using Mullvad. Honestly though because I've come from Proton the app isn't as polished for me and the amount of servers isn't as big. Hopefully a new influx of users can only be a good thing so team IVPN pushes for more improvements.
r/IVPN · Samsung Secure folder notifications It depends... I have it on restrictive mode and get most notifications through fine. Do you have Hardcore mode enabled at all? this will block google etc.
r/IVPN · Block adult content The tablet he uses has the VPN on always. Blocks trackers, Ads etc.

r/IVPN · Question I use Mullvad, but what I like about IVPN that Mullvad doesn’t have, as far as I know, is their system wide firewall that starts working to protect your system even before it fully boots. Meaning No connection can get through unless it goes through the VPN. That alone would make me go for IVPN. Plus I think IVPN is more Manual than Mullvad. It gives you more customize control than Mullvad does. So whichever one you choose depends on your current needs. Right now Mullvad is more useful to me, but I still see myself using IVPN at some point for a different reason like when I want more control.

r/IVPN · Warning about fake IVPN browser extensions A bit late but it's a good warning. IVPN does not offer a browser extension, so anything using its name in an extension store is fake. if someone installed one, I’d remove it change any passwords entered through it and run a security scan. for VPNs that do offer extensions, like PIA (private internet access), the safest option is to use the store link on the provider’s official download page

r/ProtonVPN · Proton vs. Mullvad: A User's Take After Switching I was with Protonvpn from day of release and everything was good until I moved from Linux to Mac and then I had nothing but problems - dropped connections needing full reboot to access the internet again, I moved to Mullvad and never really got on with it I need custom dns with isn’t just a ip address and the speeds where superb then poor then superb. Personal but I didn’t like the app design. So I moved again and currently use Ivpn speeds are solid and I get full custom dns controls. I prefer the app design and so far everything seems good. End of the day the best is what works best for you today and tomorrow well this could be a different provider or service. Don’t lock yourself in to 1 provider. proton is becoming Google once you’re there you jump on unlimited and before you blink it’s very hard to move away as everything is with them. This happened to me dropping the vpn meant dropping to mail plus or pass plus but couldn’t have both.

r/IVPN · Should I choose IVPN Well, I don't know how but with two mullvad accounts after a few months all my devices were frequently unlinked, I always had to re-link them every other day. It turned annoying to do this and also not good someone could be out there guessing account codes and overtaking accounts. It's never happened with IVPN in the past year. I could be wrong but that's my main suspicion.

r/IVPN · connection instability yea the always on firewall. from what i remember reading having it enabled can sometimes help with your connection because by forcing all connections to be routed through the vpn you get rid of those latency issues when your vpn randomly disconnects and then reconnects. also helped with general web use for me because by forcing it on sites stopped kicking me out because of ip changes since i never disconnected so detecting the vpn is harder since the location wasn't contantly changing
r/IVPN · connection instability Never had issues myself but it might have to do with the only allow connection with VPN enabled setting. Since I think if you try to connect to something and the vpn buffers then it tries to sync up later and causes more latency

r/IVPN · connection instability yeah I'm on wifi but unfortunately with my current living arrangements ethernet isnt an option. i've tested several settings though and its definitely the VPN connection, not the wifi being unstable.

r/IVPN · connection instability My router is connected for weeks without issues. Double hop too. You may want to consider hardwired if you are not already
r/IVPN · Slow speeds Open sense router running two multi hops. I just got 140Mb up jack down on a 500Mb fiber connection Enough for me

r/IVPN · 2-month usage review (8/10) The captcha increase is probably the shared exit IPs getting more heavily flagged, not IVPN suddenly becoming “less private.” One noisy user on the same server can make Google treat everyone behind that IP like a small botnet. For normal browsing, switching servers usually helps. For automation, though, VPN exits are rarely a long-term solution — you generally need cleaner proxies and a captcha fallback, otherwise half the workflow becomes “select all motorcycles” with extra latency.

r/IVPN · Proposal: Limited port forwarding on isolated P2P-only servers That’s disappointing, because my home connection is behind CGNAT and port forwarding would make my setup much easier to manage. My main use case is remote access to my own computer and self-hosted services such as Jellyfin, Immich, a personal cloud and reverse-proxied services. A stable forwarded port would let me access them without relying on third-party tunnels, a VPS or other workarounds. I would also be willing to pay extra for a limited implementation with one stable long-term port, or an official API for retrieving the assigned port.

r/IVPN · Slow speeds Are you connecting to servers near you? I'm also testing IVPN currently and found that speeds aren't spectacular (for me, never above 300 Mbps and averaging around 200 down/up on a 1000/500 connection). I mean, they don't have as many servers available as bigger VPN providers and I'm assuming they're not all on 20 or even 100 G connections (is there a public list with uplink speeds?), so I would expect bandwidths not to be entirely on the same level, but so far I'm not overly impressed.

r/IVPN · Payment Methods Privacy Alright nice, thought the refund was only for the first 30 days of the original account creation/payment. Was looking at some previous posts and I got some reservations about sending the cash from North America. Side question, what happens to the Mailx, ModDNS and Portmaster accounts linked on the pro suite?

r/IVPN · Thinking about switching to IVPN? 5-day test voucher offer It's obvious there are more people coming over, CAPTCHA & temporary website blocks / checks have never been so bad.
r/IVPN · New to IVPN This is exactly what I am talking about. You are not thinking for yourself. Your wall of text is ChatGPT (m-dash) use is a great give-away. You also have no idea what they donated for or why (motivation). I am sure like everyone else that has this outrage, you don't live in the country that the donation was made, have nothing to do with their politics and probably have such a minimal understanding of what even occured or why that you are again just acting with outrage with heard mentality. You will be a lot better off when you are able to see these patterns of control as you yourself are acting like a sheep, controlled through group think and emotional manipulation (outrage). Mullvad as is iVPN are both great services. You are being manipulated.

r/IVPN · No connection with the Milan server from Italy Our Milan server is confirmed to be operating normally. If you're unable to connect to it, the issue may be caused by your ISP or the network path between your device and our server. Adjusting the connection settings may help: [https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/troubleshooting/i-cannot-connect-to-the-vpn-what-can-i-do/](https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/troubleshooting/i-cannot-connect-to-the-vpn-what-can-i-do/) A good place to start is OpenVPN over TCP on ports 80 or 443. r/ProtonVPN · Is ProtonVPN better than Mullvad and/or Surfshark VPN? Yeah, I'd avoid SurfShark and all the rest of what I call "marketing privacy VPNs" as opposed to actual privacy VPNs. At the moment, the leaders in the space of actual privacy VPNs are Mullvad, IVPN, and Proton. Every other "big name" VPN out there is marketing nonsense and not real privacy.

> I read the thread you linked to and surprisingly (or maybe not), you misrepresent the overall issue and the response from their staff. The issue is that on MacOS and Linux, Proton VPN specifically leaks in certain scenarios. Mullvad and IVPN do no such thing. The response from the staff took three months, when they are clearly active on the forum otherwise. I don't feel like I misrepresent that at all. Their own guidelines say that a functioning killswitch is a requirement, and Proton VPN currently does not have the same level of killswitch as Mullvad or IVPN do. As for their response when it comes to Qubes. Would you accept if Signal was only E2EE in some cases and not in all cases? Probably not. If the reality is that Proton VPN's killswitch simply can't be trusted and that this is a platform-specific issue, then why even have a rule about killswitches at all? >It seems like this is actually an issue with almost all VPNs because there’s just no way for them to completely guarantee kill switches with without low level OS access and OS level kill switch features. In the thread, IVPN and Mullvad are both brought up as VPNs that *do* work as intended on MacOS. These are the other two VPNs recommended on PG, so it strikes me as odd that Proton in particular is allowed when it's clearly possible to fix it. Manually on Linux, and for the developers for the Proton VPN. >It also sounds like their took the general feedback that it would be best to not remove it (because it means to remove all vpns) and instead make the limitations clearer We're currently at month 3 of this being known to them, and they have chosen not to act in any way so far. It's the fact that Proton is for now a worse choice if you're on MacOS that is the issue, not the fact that all VPNs are technically worse on Linux. >It also sounds like their took the general feedback that it would be best to not remove it (because it means to remove all vpns) and instead make the limitations clearer But why change it when there are clearly VPNs that do better in this regard? So that they can keep Proton on the list?
