    Depuis 10 ans que je l'utilise je ne vois pas où uBlock n'est pas efficace. Tu sais ce n'est pas uniquement un bloqueur de pub, il sert aussi d'anti-tracker ce qui est bien plus intéressant niveau protection de la vie privée qu'un VPN qui "sert à ne pas voir où tu es exactement". Alors déjà je ne comprends pas ce besoin : qui ça peut bien intéresser de savoir où tu es exactement... Sans VPN, avec mon adresse IP publique de la box je suis localisé à Paris qui est à 250km de chez moi. Alors bien sûr quelqu'un qui aurait du temps à perdre pourrait me localiser plus précisément mais je sais que personne n'en a rien à foutre de où j'habite xD Évidemment oui si le besoin c'est de contourner une géorestriction de la connexion, ou d'anonymiser son traffic sur des réseaux qui sont connus pour être surveillés/des passoires de sécurité là ça fait sens. Mais je suis persuadé que 90% des particuliers qui ont des abonnements Nord VPN ou Cyberghost le font juste parce que leurs vendus de Youtuber préférés / leurs potes un peu geek, leur on répété mille fois que si si faut prendre un abo, alors que personne dans l'équation ne comprend ses propres besoins et l'utilité d'un VPN.

    Le nombre de personnes se disant influençables qui sont maintenant persuadées d'avoir besoin d'un VPN est ahurissant. Et même pour le wifi public, c'est de moins en moins vrai (même pour ceux en utilisant encore). La plupart des navigateurs ne te laisseront pas naviguer en http et donc le mec qui sniffe le réseau verra ton traffic chiffré. Comme tu le soulignes, les arguments sont bidons mais ça marche. La plupart des gens te dira "oui mais moi j'en ai besoin pour être anonyme" et se connectera à Facebook, Gmail et compagnie via le même VPN, créant un profil bien traçable et refilant les infos de connection à un tierce acteur comme NordVPN.

    Piratage : NordVPN, Proton, Cyberghost… les géants du VPN unis face à Canal+ et la LFP Marc Rees Publié : 07/05/2025 à 17:18 10 - 13 minutes Les VPN tourneront encore à fond ce mercredi soir, à l’occasion de la demi-finale retour de Ligue des champions PSG-Arsenal, diffusée sur Canal+. Mais le jeu du chat et la souris entre les habitués du streaming illicite et les détenteurs de droit devrait prochainement franchir une nouvelle étape cruciale. C’est en tout cas ce qu’espèrent la chaîne cryptée et la Ligue de football professionnel (LFP). Après avoir obtenu la coupure d’accès à des centaines de sites chez les fournisseurs d’accès à Internet (FAI comme Orange, Bouygues, Free, SFR, principalement), les acteurs du sport ont étendu leur bataille auprès des « résolveurs DNS », des annuaires convertissant les noms de domaines saisis par les internautes en adresses IP de serveurs où sont stockés les sites. Avec une nouvelle vague d’assignations adressée fin 2024, la Ligue de football professionnel (LFP) et Canal+ sont passés à la vitesse supérieure en appelant à la barre cette fois les principaux fournisseurs de réseaux privés virtuels (virtual private network, ou VPN en anglais) : NordVPN (France), Proton VPN (Suisse), Cyberghost (Roumanie), Surfshark VPN (Pays-Bas) et ExpressVPN (Îles Vierges britanniques). Ces outils permettent à leurs abonnés de se voir attribuer une adresse IP localisée dans un autre pays que la France, par sécurité mais aussi pour contourner les blocages déjà ordonnés par la justice. Canal a agi en défense de ses droits sur le foot (Premier League, Ligue des Champions), le rugby (Top 14) mais aussi MotoGP et les courses de Formule 1, la LFP pour protéger les matchs de la Ligue 1, de la Ligue 2 et du Trophée des Champions. Tous les deux réclament le blocage d’environ 150 sites comme soccerstreams.cc, rojadirecta.tv, myp2p.tv, kooracity.cc ou encore futbollibre.ws, mais aussi des services de télévision par Internet tels Dino TV, Facto, ou NETIPTV. En face, les VPN ont fait feu de tout bois pour repousser leurs demandes. L’Informé était présent à une audience majeure organisée le 28 avril au tribunal judiciaire de Paris. Compte rendu.

    Pour sa plaidoirie, Me Djazia Tiourtite, avocate de Cyberghost, s’est concentrée sur le droit européen, tel qu’interprété par la CJUE, pour remettre en cause l’article utilisé par les deux demandeurs. Dans son arrêt Google Ireland, Meta Ireland, TikTok du 9 novembre 2023, la Cour a interdit à un État membre d’adopter des mesures générales indistinctement à l’encontre de l’ensemble des prestataires installés dans d’autres États membres. Elle a exigé par conséquent une application proportionnelle et au cas par cas. En l’état, l’article L333-10 du Code du sport ne répondrait pas à cette exigence de traitement individualisé, puisqu’il permet de faire ordonner par la justice « toutes mesures proportionnées propres à prévenir ou à faire cesser [une] atteinte, à l’encontre de toute personne susceptible de contribuer à y remédier ». Ces dispositions ne seraient donc pas valables à l’égard des prestataires non établis en France. Au cas où cette disposition tomberait devant le tribunal judiciaire de Paris, Canal+ a raccroché à titre alternatif ses demandes de blocage à deux autres articles, l’un du Code de la propriété intellectuelle (le 336-3), l’autre de la loi pour la confiance dans l’économie numérique (le 6-3). Surtout, de l’avis de Me Marc Schuler, l’avocat de Surfshark et NordVPN, les mesures demandées par la chaîne et la Ligue seraient impossibles à mettre en œuvre, faute pour les services de pouvoir géolocaliser leurs utilisateurs, et donc limiter les mesures au seul territoire français. « L’architecture, le fonctionnement et les traitements de données des VPN ne le permettent pas (…) On nous demande des mesures qu’on ne sait pas mettre en œuvre ». Une défense attaquée par l’avocat de Canal+ : « Je ne suis pas responsable des choix d’architecture des VPN. C’est trop facile ! C’est comme si Airbus nous disait qu’il y a une nouvelle norme de filtre à air dans les avions, mais que la société ne peut l’appliquer car elle a opté pour d’autres moyens de conception. Les VPN s’estiment hors régulation mais ils doivent s’adapter. Si, dans leur modèle, ils ne l’ont pas pris en compte, c’est leur problème ».

    « J’ai produit plusieurs procès-verbaux démontrant que via les VPN, on peut contourner les mesures de blocage ». Dans sa plaidoirie, Richard Willemant, avocat de Canal Plus, a insisté pour que les fournisseurs de réseau privé virtuel entrent dans la boucle de leur lutte anti-piratage. « Et ils font déjà ce que nous demandons, en protégeant leurs utilisateurs des sites malveillants ou des virus qu’ils bloquent. Mais comme par hasard, ces services très protecteurs ne veulent pas protéger leurs utilisateurs contre des sites qui diffusent des contrefaçons. C’est quand même le monde à l’envers ! » Pour établir la liste des sites que ces prestataires devraient bloquer, la chaîne a pioché dans les différents noms de plateformes de streaming déjà épinglées par des décisions de justice pour de multiples « atteintes graves et répétées » à ses intérêts sur le sport. Elle a également demandé une mesure de publication judiciaire sur chaque réseau privé virtuel, dans un objectif de pédagogie à l’égard des internautes. « C’est parfaitement justifié puisqu’une partie de leur publicité se fonde sur l’allégation qu’avec nous, vous pouvez lutter contre la censure des gouvernements – ce que je comprends, mais aussi accéder à des sites bloqués dans certains pays. Ce qui n’est pas admissible puisque cela revient à parasiter l’abus commis par certains de leurs abonnés et attirer vers eux du trafic. » Sur le terrain juridique, l’avocat s’est appuyé sur l’article L333-10 du Code du sport, tout en citant le règlement sur les services numériques (DSA, Digital Services Act), un texte européen qui a dépoussiéré le régime de responsabilité des intermédiaires techniques et cite désormais nommément les réseaux privés virtuels. Ce même DSA rappelle que dans chaque État membre, une autorité judiciaire ou administrative peut exiger d’un « fournisseur de services qu’il mette fin à une infraction ou qu’il prévienne une infraction » (article 4, paragraphe 3 du DSA).

    J’ai pas pu lire l’article car Paywall. Mais je vois pas en quoi on peut interdire aux entreprises de VPN de bloquer les Flux TV. Du coup, on pourra continuer à regarder la F1 depuis un VPN en passant par des pays qui la diffuse gratuitement. ___ Sinon, ça voudrait dire qu’un Belge qui se connecte à NordVPN depuis l’étranger pour regarder ses chaînes nationales sera pénalisé.

    Je fais l'historique parmi les vpn auxquels j'ai souscrit depuis de nombreuses années mais qui sont en fait liés à mon FAU pour la plupart: VyprVPN , hideMyAss - Nordvpn- et le dernier actuel PrivadoVPN. Usage au tout début pour profiter des services de stream géolocalisés mais aujourd'hui plus pour bloquer les pubs/tracking ou borne wifi (quand je n'ai pas le choix). Je n'avais aucune préférence, ils faisaient le taf simplement...

    les vpn par abonnement sont des machines à imprimer de l'argent y'a tout un tas de gens qui paient entre 3 et 5€ par mois à nordVPN depuis 10 ans juste pour pouvoir regarder un film sur le netflix US une fois de temps en temps leur modèle économique c'est de proposer un abonnement qui semble tellement peu cher pour la majorité des gens que les clients vont : 1, ne pas remettre en question l'idée que le service proposé ne vaut pas le tarif payé 2, rester abonnés au très long terme parce que 3€ par mois dans le budget d'un actif moyen ça n'a pas d'impact maintenant imagine qu'ils ont plus de 15 millions d'abonnés qui leur rapporte chacun, au minimum, 3€ par mois, et qui, pour une grande partie d'entre eux, ne leur coûte rien ou presque je te garantis que même les OP à 30.000€ sont rentabilisées pour eux

    Je n'en utilise pas, le seul usage qui me semble légitime c'est pour contourner la géolocalisation. Ça permet de contourner des restrictions par région et d'accéder à des prix plus bas (exemple, YT Musique et plein d'autres abonnements ont des prix différents par région et sont super pas cher en Amérique du Sud). Côté anonymité/sécurité, c'est un peu une illusion. Aujourd'hui tout le traffic est en https et ton FAI ne voit pas ce que tu fais sur le VPN, mais NordVPN voit tout passer. À toi de voir si tu fais confiance à une entreprise domiciliée dans les îles Caïman pour ne pas vendre tes données de navigation.

    Tous les VPNs seront les mêmes pour ton cas. Ils vont tous te filer ample bande passante, donc: 1/ Prend la meilleure discount qui existe maintenant (ils font parfois du -50% pour x mois). Attention aux renouvellement a plein pot, c'est (trop) chère, donc utilise une carte temporaire si possible. Annule après la fin de la remise, je me suis fait avoir sur nord ou la checkbox 'auto-renew' ne marchat pas, niveau UI ca le désactivé bien mais après avoir été chargé j'ai trouvé que en faite non, ca faisait un http 500 sur leur serveur ptdr. 2/ Rejoin le force du bien et utilise Multvat. Multvat c'est pas sans abonnement, sans dark patern, tu paies pour x mois et voila, c'est toujours du 5 eur par mois. En bonus ils refusent les demandes d'accéder à leurs logs/db venant du gouvernement, donc vraie anonymat pour les petits pirates. Aussi le client est ultra rapide, 2-3 sec pour le lancer et se connecter, parfais pour le petit torrent des familles. Sinon quelques points sur mes expériences: Nord: Avec discount c'est bien, attention que le client est nulle, ca prend du temps à charger (15-20 sec) et te logout régulièrement sans raison. Possiblement le meilleur débit, mais bon on parle de truc que tu touchera qu'avec une bonne fibre. Cyberghost: Mieux que nord j'avais trouvé il y a 4 ans. Client assez rapide, avec discount c'est un bon VPN.

    Oui, en général avec un **VPN fiable**, tu peux t’abonner à Canal+ depuis l’étranger et continuer à regarder depuis l’Allemagne Beaucoup utilisent des VPN comme NordVPN pour ça et ça fonctionne plutôt bien tant que tu restes connecté sur le bon serveur. Et comme Canal+ est dispo dans l’UE, tu es plutôt tranquille. Perso, j’utilise aussi [4kiptv.is](https://4kiptv.is) super pratique pour suivre le foot ou la F1 sans galère de géo-blocage

    Après plusieurs recherches je n'ai trouvé aucune preuve qui condamne ces VPN à de la vente de data de leurs clients, il semblerait que ce soit surtout une legende urbaine (peut être orchestrée par leurs concurrents). Perso je me méfie surtout des VPN gratuits qui eux doivent tres certainement vendre les données pour financer leurs serveurs, mais j'irai tester ProtonVPN et Mullvad pour me faire une idée.

    J'ai souvent entendu ça, cependant est-ce que le gouvernement demande dans les faits à ces entreprises des informations sur ses abonnés quand tu l'utilises pour seeder du torrent, ou bien c'est par pure precaution ? Pour avoir testé NordVPN et Cyberghost, je n'ai pas constaté plus de spam, tentative de piratage ou autre entre avant et après leur utilisation.

Mais après, chacun voit midi à sa porte. Ce qui est un big no-no pour moi ne le sera pas pour toi par exemple. A chacun de définir ce qu'il tolère et ne tolère pas.

    J'ai choisi NordVPN il y a plusieurs années car - à l'époque en tous cas - il disaient ne pas garder de logs, le prix était attractif et Mulvad était encore un truc de gros barbu à Fedora. Chaque année je me dis que je vais annuler mon abonnement (j'ai Proton maintenant) mais chaque année j'oublie... Mais je ne me sert de NordVPN que sur mon téléphone, 24/24. Comme ça je peux me connecter aux wifis publics avec un peu de tranquillité d'esprit.

Pour le créateur qui fait disons 3K viewers, c'est 1500€. Tu te dis "Putain 1500€ pour une heure" c'est giga abusé. Maintenant, dis toi que c'est pour vendre un jeu vidéo à 60€ qui coûte zéro à l'entreprise à ce stade. S'ils convertissent 1% des viewers c'est 5€ par jeu, c'est rien. 0.5% : 10€. Même juste s'ils font 1/1000 c'est 50€ (donc s'ils en vendent que 3) ça reste rentable pour la boîte théoriquement. Là ça coûte combien Nord VPN ? 5€ par mois? Le mec reste deux ans >> 120€ Chatgpt me dit que NordVPN travaille souvent par pack de plusieurs vidéos.     I’ve subscribed to Malwarebytes, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, ProtonVPN, and for the last 15 months, Surfshark. All 5 of the vendors have issues. That’s normal for tech companies. I know, I founded, built, and ran successful tech companies for 42 years. Surfshark is the best value VPN of the group. They do a good job of listening to their customers. They have a complete, solid product, and a value prop that positions Surfshark as a leader in a commoditized market. Get over it OP.

    Sometimes, public wifi requires a pre-connection authentication window. I sometimes need to pause vpn, connect to wifi, accept T&C in the authentication portal window pop up, and then unpause the VPN once I am successfully connected. That's less a Nord thing and more an "any vpn" thing.

Used to be able to get it working by uninstalling and reinstalling their bullshit app - that doesn't work anymore. Can't stream YouTubeTV. All their IPs are fucking burned. My last subscription expires in about a week: say-o-fucking-nora!

They ended up crediting me something like a year so I wouldn't go through my bank for a chargeback, but I made sure to take timestamped photos of both my VPN and Pass auto-renewal being off after that. Last year it happened again, a few days before my Nordpass was set to expire I got an email about my Nordpass being auto-renewed, reached out to support who said "it was turned on so we charged you", and then sent the timestamped photo to PayPal who performed a chargeback for me. Also noticed that every time I've paid Nord over the last 6-7 years it's gone to a different payment broker.

    NordVPN connects faster than Surfshark without Dausos (basically on every device except macOS). NordVPN's user interface now sucks and is very laggy somehow. Surfshark is good only if they release their great updates on Windows and other devices. It's clearly bad faith to not release like Multi IP on every device, as it's a server-side feature. Creating a beta to release experiments doesn't seem to be out of reach from my perspective. The VPN industry is very profitable. That's my opinion. I'm know there is much more stuff to talk about.

    I started with Nord, switched to surf shark, and then went back to Nord when my subscription ended. I got caught out with surfshark not working for accessing an Irish stream while I was abroad. Their support was useless. They directed me to connect to UK servers instead, and wouldn't believe me that Ireland and the UK are different countries, so it wouldn't work. Nord has far more servers available, so any time I've encountered an issue with that, I've just been able to connect to a different server and the problem goes away.

    I had the opposite experience with Surfshark, I had it for two years, I'm better with Nord now. It's faster, fewer connection problems with auto connect, and sometimes I had a problem when sending mails (POP3) from work connected to the VPN because the IP was reported as SPAM apparently. Also a lot of pages constantly blocking the connection while on VPN or had to take endless "I'm not a robot" tile test. So I started just using the VPN only on public connections. With Nord I have it connected all the time and honestly I forget about it, mostly.

I used Nord, then Mullvad, and now ProtonVPN. I bought 2 years of Proton. The others I had for a year each.

    I switched from Nord recently and I have found Proton more stable for me. In addition, if I change cities/countries it seemed to better reflect that actual location much more accurately than Nord did after a while. I kept running into age restrictions or other issues with Nord even though I know that restriction shouldn't have come up based off the city/country. I think Nord was becoming crowded or something else has changed because it wasn't as good as when I first subscribed. I'll be staying on Proton for now unless it becomes as bad as Nord did in these areas. Also, the performance of the app and network is within \~5% of Nord for me, maybe even better, to a point I don't miss any of the "speed" I had with Nord.

I've got 3 bugs in the desktop app that Nordvpn is aware of but haven't fixed since they started showing up around April. The latest version seems to have introduced a 4th bug where website pages are slow to load. And then I need to hit cmd-dot to stop the spinning wheel in the tab. I already did a clean install and deleted keychain entries but it didn't improve anything, so I've gone back to the previous version (10.7). I'm not interested in reporting it because it'll just be a time-wasting back and forth ending in "We'll fix it later".

    I love ProtonVPN and I use it most of the time in my laptop and mobile devices as the primary VPN. However I still keep and pay for NordVPN which I use mainly for streaming, because even when Proton has improved a lot in this regard, NordVPN is still much better in some streaming platforms (and it is not that expensive on the 2 year plan). Not sure about ExpressVPN but I guess it depends on your needs. As a VPN service for safety and privacy, ProtonVPN is already very good and as I've said, it is my primary service. For streaming, most of the time NordVPN works better (faster and more reliable).

    As a VPN for general purposes, ProtonVPN is very good. For streaming, unfortunately more and more streaming providers are detecting now and blocking or if not throttling certain live events (Disney+) or shows that aren’t available in the country of your VPN connection (Netflix), that’s been my recent experience (in the past it worked great). Not sure if this is the same with ExpressVPN (it might be) so don’t expect it to work very well in those use cases. I also pay for NordVPN and same recent experience (won’t renew NordVPN, will only keep Proton).

You aren’t wrong about the apps being bloated/slow and it’s crashed more than once for me too and I suppose a crash at the wrong time could be “fatal” for the right person.     Surely! As of maybe a year or so now, NordVPN has been so screwy with iOS. I use Nord on my windows PC, my MacBook Pro and iPhone 16 pro. My biggest gripe is the constant dropping of connection and then the “assigning IP address” that follows. This occurs to me multiple times daily. During this process, I lose all internet connections, thus effectively making my iPhone useless unless I manually terminate the VPN in iOS settings. Sometimes the NordVPN app just freezes altogether and stops responding, thus resulting in me doing the aforementioned. When I come inside my home from, let’s just say, a walk and I’m away from my home network, Nord will struggle to reconnect when my phone connects to my home WiFi. Again, I need to manually toggle the VPN off and on for it to work properly. Apple CarPlay stopped working on my 2018 BMW after one update last year. I can’t connect to my car unless I toggle the VPN off. This also hinders my ability to make/answer calls, change music, etc. over Apple CarPlay. I’ve troubleshot with Apple, Verizon Fios and BMW on these issues with several email threads in the double digits trying to find the root cause. Each issue points to Nord. Their support system has been incredibly nonexistent and they are about as useful as tits on a bull with trying to figure any of this out. They eventually stop replying, making me feel like my issues are not important enough for them to make their product work. After several reinstalls, reconfiguring of vpn profiles, protocols, roll back on iOS versions, blah blah blah, I’ve decided to uninstall Nord on my iPhone and low and behold: works like a damn charm without any issues whatsoever on all the above. Also note that this issue persisted over two different iPhones: my 13 Pro and now 16 Pro. To each their own, but after being with Nord since 2019, they lost me as a customer.

    If your main concern is privacy, and you did nothing but set up the VPN then you're far from "good to go". A VPN alone can never make you "fully anonymous" as you said, and I'm surprised the moderator comment didn't correct you on this. You need to make a lot of changes to have any degree of privacy, using a VPN alone is almost useless. You didn't make any difference but now the sites you visit associate those foreign IPs with you and even know you started using a VPN. For starters, you need to push Google away from your life. Anything Google is the biggest offender to your privacy. You'll also need to change a bunch of your device settings, depending on what you use.  Let me know if you need any help doing this. You can start with "De-google your life" by Linus on YouTube.

    I was using hotspotshield premium for a couple of years now until it started to give me issues especially in discord. I tried nordvpn and surfshark, but both had been bad for me (ie. I couldn't use the split vpn function (even after setting it up and talking to their support, the issue was not resolved) and couldn't even open google on my browser with vpn on) proton vpn is so much better than all the others i tried. 1. i can choose to 'not connect' to certain countries. Which helps me avoid connecting through my own country as its the one i'm trying to avoid, but still logs me through the fastest country after my own. 2. i can choose so that it only uses vpn with discord, as opposed to me listing every other program i don't wanna use vpn with. (i need vpn to be able to use discord) 3. the speed is really good, the control i have over what i want vpn to do is really detailed. with hotspot shield I kept having an RTC connection issue, but i have never had that with proton so far. It works good on my mobile too. overall, out of all my experiences with vpns, proton vpn took the crown for me.

    a good double check is to try connecting with OpenVPN or a client that supports ovpn files. It'll help narrow down who's "at fault" (e.g. network or client). Yes, most of the vendor's clients allow you to change the protocol to UDP or TCP but by using a venor-neutral client that's widely known to work, you may be able to keep being on your favorite VPN vendor. Some years ago, I was on jury duty and the courthouse had a public-accessible wifi network. But it would block or drop connection when I enabled Cisco Anywhere or used the VPN vendor's client on my iPhone. I had OpenVPN installed and pre-configured to connect to a server using UDP or TCP, with IP or DNS name. Cycled through each of my pre-configured selection and was able to connect. Some VPN vendors offer ovpn files that uses different port numbers and that can sometimes allow you go punch through more restrictive public networks (I don't believe Nord offers this flexibility).

I got 92,64 Mbit/s download, 83,74 Mbit/s upload, and 66,21 ms latency. So it's very similar to what I got with Proton VPN for free. Latency is not too bad, and I don't play games, so it doesn't matter much to me.     I did not know that a free version of Proton VPN is included with each account. I installed it now and the app works flawlessly. Unlike NordVPN and Surfshark, both of which crash on my system for some reason, since several versions back, due to some Nvidia driver conflict that support is unable to help with and I can't figure it out – it probably requires a Windows reinstall. I did a Proton VPN speed test now against a domestic test server, using a national broadband test service (provided by our domain registry). I got 91,82 Mbit/s download, 80,84 Mbit/s upload, and 47,82 ms latency. It went through Netherlands, about 1000 km away. Not bad at all. I have a 100/100 Mbps fiber service.

    Mullvad is the second option I am considering. Proton VPN is 39% more expensive than Mullvad for 12 months. But my current provider, NordVPN, is 28% more expensive than Proton VPN for 12 months. I only compared regular prices, no discounts. Although, I usually renew NordVPN at half the price for a 24 month subscription. They often have discounts that existing customers can take advantage of, and they will sometimes make you an offer if you contact support or if your subscription has already run out. Any thoughts on NymVPN? It's a new provider I think, that builds on blockchain technology. I never heard of it until yesterday, so I don't know much about it.

    Depends on where you are , North America NordVPN , Europe Proton. My personnal xp using Canadian Servers, NordVPN is faster. But I switched to Proton, in part because I am switching everything to self-hosted or Proton ecosystem. There has been reports that NordVPN updating policy about co-operation with law enforcement ( Read Wikipedia ). I got away from NordVPN

    I have cancelled my Auto renewal with NordVPN since they have removed the ability to use the MAP! also I discovered I can no longer remove/update my CC when I log into my account! this is like something I saw before I am 53 so I have been around since the beginning of the internet. this is like other scams that happen just before a Company is about to shut down. also the latest update cost has jumped a large amount. If I get better features with ExpressVPN and it costs more then so be it!.

    I use qbit as well, and even have it bound to Nord traffic, still no love. Weirdly, on my phone with Nord and uTorrent app, it downloads just fine. I'm not sure if my ISP is blocking VPNs or what. No matter if I select a P2P or regular server, in the US or abroad. Same result.

    Found this out today. It’s a deal breaker for me. Does NordVPN allow the kill switch and LAN access too or is it just PIA? I’m not worried about the auto renew either, it can just be turned off.

    I also used NordVPN, with no complaints about their speed or connections, but eventually streaming services discover Nord's IPs (even their private IP service) and block them. I realize this might be a bit more work than you want to do, but I setup my own VPN server (used WireGuard protocol) on a VM running on a server in the USA. It's worked flawlessly for the past few months, and I use it when outside the USA.

    Yeah have gone downhill drastically. Must be getting hammered from the NSA to write bad code. The app just gets worse and worse and slower. It always kicks you out even if your subscription is still active. It's terrible at reatarting. Half the times kill switch breaks. Super laggy switches between Server jumps.

    I'm not sure why you are being downvoted. I really like the performance of the Nord VPN servers, but yeah the app is pretty bad. It takes a while to start up and when it does, it seems to interfere with my laptop's GPU switching. If I want to play games, I am obligated to close NordVPN from the task manager so that my laptop can switch GPUs. I've also had the occasional app crash. I don't use my VPN for piracy though. I use it mostly for work because my work requires me to access country-specific sites/content from our company. For that usecase, Nord has been great. I occasionally use it to access content from other countries, but this can be hit or miss at times. YouTube for example can detect I am running a VPN so it blocks some content from playing.

NordVPN's servers via my Wireguard router and 3rd party Wireguard apps however are extremely fast and stable. With any tested Dutch server I reach 95-99% of my ISP speed. With Mullvad only 60-70%. But again: NordVPN's own apps are an embarrassment so bad and unreliable. Using their apps If your country has high piracy fines, be prepared to become (much) poor(er). If you are a dissident in a dictatorship, arrange your funeral. Because their apps incl. killswitch will crash often and you'll be on the net unprotected if using their own apps. Last but not least NordVPN refuses to provide your Wireguard key. Must retrieve yourself via Linux, NordVPN cli and WG tools. Just ridiculous.

A lot of the talk against Kape is circumstantial evidence (like being owned by an Israeli, as if all Israelis are alike and in favor of leading a genocide and deliberately targeting Palestinian children).

    Hallo, ich bin letzte Woche von Surfshark zu NordVPN gewechselt und bereue es nicht. Sowohl auf meinem Mac als auch auf meinem iPhone ist die Verbindung mit dem VPN stabiler. Es gibt keine Abbrüche wie es mit surfshark gab. Speedtests zeigten, dass es mit NordVPN schneller läuft. Zumindest am Standort Deutschland.
