r/projectors · What do you think of the Dangbei Mars Pro? →2023-10-28

These high(er) end chinese brand projectors are not crap as some "get a real projector" proponents here always answer when a query is posted. What's important is warranty support in your local area should you unfortunately encounter a problem. I have an xgimi horizon, very happy. Once you experience 100"+ picture, you can't go back to tv.

    r/projectors · Advice on buying a projector →2025-11-30

None of those projectors have native 4k resolution The cheapest projector which is a very good option that is native 4k is the Sony VPL-HW 5000ES. I would not recommend it right now due to panel degradation and manual controls at that expensive price point. For a $3,000 price point, don't buy projectors like the Hisense or short throws that have no lens shift. Keystone is BAD IF and only IF your ceilings are at a good height where this projector won't hang too low, then go for the XGIMI Horizon 20 MAX. Also if you plan to place it on a table/not mount it this is a good option. If you don't want that, the number 1 projector I am recommending due to the deal right now is the Epson LS11000. I can't justify why the LS12000 (Slightly upgraded model), is so expensive. Nevertheless, the LS11000 is a great projector with lots of flexibility and at a decently decreased price point NEVER utter the words Optoma lol The newer version of the HT4550i is the W4100i. I like Benq for Home theater, but the fan noise is quite high. I would NOT spend $3000 on the W4100i, instead a GREAT option would be to buy the $1,300 refurb HT4550i from Ebay. This is the best bang-for-your-buck option and is amazing Again, projector lens shift is SO useful, so the only Valerion I would consider would be the MAX 99.99999999% of home theater projectors can project 120 inches +, that is not a good question. The other percent is a cardboard toy. Even the cheapest projectors can probably do 150 if all lights are off I don't like ultra short throw, my opinion is that you will regret if you buy it. Many things need to be perfect for it to work out well. $1,300 refurb HT4550i from Ebay would be the best option as it has 3d support and is very affordable so you can put budget elsewhere If your space permits, then you could go for the XGIMI, but I wouldn't because for half the price I can get a projector that's as good or better refurbished. Consider the Benq W2720i also but I wouldn't go with it

Have you considered any of the previous XGIMI horizon? Like the Ultra or S Max. I assume their price will be even lowered in Black Friday.

The easiest projector to shift room to room is the Horizon 20 because of its lensshift. The Pro or base are within your budget. But beware the Xgimi and Valerion have RBE and speckle, depending on your sensitivity and screen. The Negigo doesn't have an OS so you need a firestick or apple tv etc. But it has no speckle.

Hey there! So, you won’t match your LG OLED’s blacks on a projector, but in a dark room a 100–120″ image can feel more cinematic; for your “move it room to room” plan I’d skip the UST units since they’re meant to live inches from a fixed ALR screen and aren’t super portable-friendly. I don't know why you're saying that we didn't like the JMGO; we reviewed the JMGO N1S Ultimate, and we liked it quite a bit. We didn't review the Pro, but they're very similar, just the Pro is dimmer than the Ultimate. It definitely seems like the best value for you here. As for XGIMI’s Horizon 20 line, it's solid if the price is right. The differences between 20/Pro/Max are mostly brightness/processing and, for night use, the base model is usually enough. Hope this helps!

r/projectors · We’re giving a few r/projectors members the new XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K to test and keep — honest reviews required →2026-06-25

I expect it completely would, but there are other considerations overall. Size, ease of portability, image quality, etc. Still, the word trounce does keep running around in my head. What's interesting is that LG came out with the PF1500U about the same time that XGimi introduced their original Horizon projector in the USA. I would say, at the time, that XGimi was very similar, but a bit better looking than the LG was, but LG had so much better support and had USA service. But, it was clear even then that they were getting some honest competition.

r/projectors · Vidda(Hisense) C3 ultra (short review) and buying advice for EU →2026-03-15

I just bought the XGIMI Horizon Pro on the €699 sale they were running in December before I found out about Vidda (aka. Hisense), haven't gotten the projector yet but am immediately going to sell it to get either the C2 Ultra or the C3 Ultra, depending one whether I get €1000 or €1100 for selling the XGIMI, which is back to €1299 now. Xgimi Horixmzon Pro has "4K"60Hz but it only has 1080P60Hz too, which I thought was strange. The Hisense having "4K"120Hz and even 1080P240P plus much lower input lag with XGIMI only going as loelw as 35ms in Gaming Mode (meaning you can't change any features/calibrations) whereas the C2U goes down to around 10ms and the C3U goes all the way down to 4.6ms on 1080P240Hz. There's just no comparison and the Viddas are even cheaper too! They're brighter, faster, clearer, more customisable, arguably way better looking, you name it!

r/projectors · Unpopular Opinion: Are We Experiencing Peak Hype? My Take on the Valerion VisionMaster Max (And the Echo Chamber Review Culture) →2025-12-19

I do trust the hook up, very informative and exhaustive reviews. Your comment about colour blindness made me think as I too have mild colour blindness. I’ve tried the Valerion Pro and Max models plus the new XGIMI Horizon 20 Max. I couldn’t get on with any of them and have reverted to my older XGIMI Horizon S Max which to my eyes anyway seems to give a better image. The older XGIMI uses dual light rather than laser so that might be the defining factor.

r/xgimi · Recommendation - just received the XGIMI 20 Max / RS20 Ultra Max 高亮版 (Extra Bright) + accessories via Alibaba DDP to Europe/Germany →2025-12-10

Thanks for the reply! In dark movies DTM can be game changer. The panorma-shot of the castle in Nosferatu is without DTM just a dark building without visible details. With DTM turned on you can see the windows, doors etc. However, Nosferatu is a dark movie and it is meant to not see every detail. One more question; do you know if you can use/turn on ALLM outside Game-Mode? I thought i read that this is an option on the Horizon 20.

    r/projectors · Best stowaway projector - white wall, ca. 2-2.5 m from wall →2024-09-26

So, to update you all (alternate account), I had the chance to get my hands on a GV50 (in Europe, this seems to be a challenge given the low stocks here). I'm quite happy with it overall; it ticks the boxes, but now that I'm down the rabbit hole, I might be tempted to look around. To put some context, the main uses of the projector are to watch series and movies (for us and the kids) and occasional gaming. We have not had a TV for almost 10 years (where's my furniture pointing at?), and want to keep it this way in our living room, so the projector's presence should be minimal (should be stowed away easily). Friends lent us a Samsung The Freestyle, which was ok for us with the blinds closed, but I still followed the general advice to stay away from this overpriced one. Pros: Design, like it or hate it! Ease of use, the interface is quite smooth. The image quality is good for such a small projector. "Stowability": the format and the general aesthetics make it easy to store away on a shelf. The fan noise is largely acceptable. The throw ratio is adequate. I have around 6-7 feet between the projector and the wall, so 1.2:1 is great. I might have preferred 1:1 since I'm not looking for a supersized image. Black levels are quite good, and dark details are surprisingly good. Neutral: Autofocus is "almost" perfect, which is quite frustrating. It works most of the time but is sometimes imperfect. To be fair, I'm projecting on a white wall that does not seem 100% flat, so I get why it might not be perfect. While the sound is loud enough, it has this weird, too bassy/muffled feeling at low volume. I think this disappears when I turn the volume up, which I cannot do as the kids generally sleep when we use it. It is bright enough in low-light environments (there is no need to be 100% dark) but not suited for daylight. This was known beforehand, so there is no disappointment here. Cons: It's maybe a little pricey compared to other options. It's €699 in Europe, while the Xgimi Horizon is around €700-900, depending on discounts. €599 would make it a killer option. The power unit is not built-in - a bit cumbersome. I don't get the point of a battery in this unit. It does not seem sturdy enough to be taken outside, and it adds to manufacturing costs. It also opens up the possibility of having a built-in power unit. If I wanted an outdoor projector in this price range, I would go for the Mars 3, and definitely not the GV50. TL;DR: This is a good, easy-to-use portable projector for my use case. However, I feel that there is an empty spot in terms of the product. Something around that price, just with slightly higher specs and increased practical aspects, aimed at being in a living room and disappearing as soon as the movie ends, would be ideal.
