cr0ftr/projectors · Hisense px3-pro vs Epson ls800 and screen type →2025-04-19
Nobody should ever use a white screen with any UST projector, full stop. Immense amounts of light just bounce around all over and savage the image quality and any ambient light isn't deflected giving you a washed out mess of an image (comparatively to ALR). Well, I suppose there are some use cases where you accept the massive performance hit - like if you wall mount an LS800 upside down in a school or similar setting and don't give two shits about black level. Not in a home theater. ALR Screen VS White WALL - Side by Side Comparison in Different Lighting Conditions | Chris Maher, YouTube For the LS800 ideally you'd want something like 0.5 gain. Gain pretty much changes the light output linearly across the board. Your brightest scenes become a bit dimmar, but your darkest black becomes darker, and the LS800 can use the help on contrast. It has plenty of firepower, even on 70% power, to work just fine with 0.5, and Epson's own ALR is 0.5. I have that, and the projector looks pretty good with perfectly acceptable blacks and solid brightness on 70% (the fan shuts up a lot at that level, the fan is otherwise a concern.) 3000 lumens is more than plenty for 0.8 gain. Keep in mind ALR will waste vastly less light on spraying it around the room, it focuses it back towards the viewer. I'd be shocked if you didn't feel a 0.8 and the PX3-Pro gave you anything but jaw dropping image quality. People watch 1000 lumen or less projectors with great enjoyment even, your eyes adapt. Not saying lumens don't matter but with 3000 you're more than covered. So yeah, stay the hell away from white screens or uneven walls with UST projectors and buy an ALR. The 0.8 is a passable compromise for both units, but the Epson could benefit from lower. Both will look bloody fantastic either way, there's almost no such thing as a bad UST.

Hisense px3-pro with a traditional lenticular (0.6-0.8) works fantastic is moderately to well lit room. Be careful of any positive gain screen as they will either have a very limited viewing angle or may not be specifically intended for UST. I’d be happy to get into details with you; send me a pic of the room and the level of ambient light needing to be dealt with.

Meant to reply here earlier I run it at the 1080p 240hz and compared to my much older optoma cinemax it is so much better I really do not notice any input lag. Happy to answer other questions

Are you playing on a PC or console? I’ve played both pc and ps5 on it and the console has been a much smoother experience than the PC has. I have a 5080 in the pc. Seems like the projector doesn’t like games going above 60fps on pc, higher than that and it’s choppy. Ps5 has been super smooth on it though, no matter the settings. I imagine Xbox would be good too. Little bit of input lag but fine for single player games. Overall it’s a great projector and highly recommend it

I play games like RDR2, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, etc on the PX3-Pro with no issues whatsoever from a lag stand point. I can't speak about competitive first person shooters however. Happy to help you go over the options and see what may be best for you.

One word.... Fan noise on HDR content. Hisense used some cheap fan´s on the unit and with a shitty fan-curve. I´m happy that my PX3 Pro found a new Home !!!

I've played with a steam deck hooke dup to it, streaming from my computer upstairs over moonlight, and over geforce now. Games include expedition 33 (no loag issue, and that one will f you) arc raiders, Oblivion remastered. and more, but those three are indicative. No noticable lag, and i'm in the end game of expedition 33.

I just bought the px3 pro and its awesome! The reviews for it are legit and honestly dont see me going to oled. The 100+ screen is too damn good. To answer your question, if you are playing single player and non competitive gaming, you really dont need low latency. Anything 20ms or below is fine.

I didn’t like the 3d effect at all. Very dim (even on my L9G), lots of RBE, max of 1080p and just an overall blurry image. I honestly would rather play stereoscopic games on quest 3 over this. For 2d these projectors are pretty good but rbe and latency kinda suck. No true 4k/120 either.

You will not be disappointed. Have it connected to my XBOX and PS5. This thing was built with gaming in mind. Excellent picture quality and built for gaming to boot. I play on a 120” screen. Looks fantastic.

ProjectionHeadr/projectors · Should I upgrade to Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII from AWOL 3000 Pro →2025-06-02
Check out the Hisense PX3-Pro. It will be a massive upgrade over the awol and be much brighter than the nexigo. The nexigo may have better dynamic contrast but it comes at the sacrifice of brightness. Either of those options will still be a big upgrade over the AWOL.
