JellyTheBearr/projectors · 4k-capable laser projectors with low input lag and no/limited pixel shift noise →2023-05-23T15:34:31
LS11000/12000. I have a LS11000 directly overhead and I don't hear any pixel-shifting noise. I have returned a BenQ X3000i mainly because the 4k60 pixel-shifting buzz was unbearable and the fans were almost as loud as my old business 5500lm bulb Epson. Fans on the LS11000 are very quiet up to 75% laser power. 100% is moderately loud, but still not annoying. LS12000 should be the same, just a bit brighter and louder at 100%. And both can do up to 1080p120 HDR and 4k120 HDR with low input lag. Plus the motorized lens (zoom, focus, lens shift) is a godsend when setting up.

I just got the LS11000 yesterday so still playing around with the settings. I've had the BenQ for about 10 days. And my journey into getting a projector started when my girlfriend suggested I try using hers about 3 weeks ago. So I'm new to this and happy to share my limited perspective. My girlfriend lent me an Epson 1060, which despite being a lower end unit I found myself watching more TV/movies than I normally would because of how good natural it felt on the eyes and quickly decided I would replace my OLED with a projector. I was looking for 4k, good input lag, and better black levels than the 1060. I'm a value oriented person so that is what led me to x3000i. I was aware of rainbow effect but wasn't concerned I would see it. Out of the box the x3000i looks really good, crisp and video games are fantastic on it. Black levels were good enough for me as well. But I saw the rainbow effect and it hurt my eyes, so that is what took me eventually to the LS11000. The LS11000 out of the box didn't wow me at all but after some quick calibration settings you can find on AVscience, video looks amazing. Black levels are way better as is the overall viewing experience. The x3000i up close looks crisper as there is screen door effect on the LS11000 -- so depending on viewing distance and screen size that could be an issue with the LS11000. But in actual viewing, to me, the LS11000 looks so much better. I haven't played much video games yet on the LS11000 -- it is enjoyable but it is noticeably better on the Benq; motion looks better. If I didn't see DLP rainbow effect and it didn't strain my eyes I'd probably say the x3000i is a better value at MSRP, and I wanted to like it; but I still think the LS11000 would be more enjoyable so I'm happy that the x3000i didn't work out for me. I paid MSRP for the x3000i and got a good price on the LS11000 so it was only a $1000 difference and makes it a no brainer to me. Apparently there is b-stock of the Sony XW5000ES for $4k right now that I definitely would have considered if I had known.

I ended up getting the Benq x3000i. Image is somewhat decent but the noise is quite a bit noticeable and from reviews I gather the LS are much, much quieter. Also it has more powerful zoom so it could sit further away from the sitting area. I kinda regret going with the Benq. I'm convinced I would be much more satisfied with the Epson. But frankly I don't use it that much, and for the (much cheaper) price it was the smarter choice. When I do use it it's a family affair and the noise isn't really noticeable as the movie soundtrack is much louder.

So the input lag.is different between the X3 and w4, w4000 has a fast mode for gaming but not sure what the response time is. If you're not worried about filmmaker mode , 11 point colour temperature tuning, horizontal and vertical lense shift and all the BenQ ht software enhancements then the x3000i is for you. The w4000i can also run 4k netflix from Android TV where as the x3000i can't. They are both great projectors, but the w4000i is far superior hence the higher price. But you can't go wrong with the x3000i

Thank you for the reply. :) HDR10+ support and filmmaker mode(s) in w4000i are the 2 things I would have preferred to have. And other 2 things - 11 pt color tuning and lens shift - I could likely live without. Not sure of "HT enhancements". For native Netflix - I would be using Nvidia Shield instead so that is fine. So far likely I'll go with x3000i.

Wow thanks for the detailed response! It's interesting too because the LS11000 and HT4550i measure similarly in terms of lumen output and native contrast but apparently there is a clear difference. How did you get that good price on your LS11000 if you don't mind me asking? How would you compare noise between the two? I'm sure the Epson is quieter but is it $$1k quieter lol. I'm wondering if motion was better on the x3000i for games because it supports 1080p at 240hz and it was running in that mode. Either way appreciate your thoughts. Enjoy your projector!

I played around with both of them yesterday with some 4k YouTube content and they both look really good...the x3000i is really crisp and my brain initially leans to thinking the x3000i looks better but keep coming back to the LS11000 feeling better -- maybe that is just because I can see the rainbow effect. Kind of like how the soap opera effect might look better but for many isn't a more enjoyable experience. Refresh rate aside the DLP is better for games, it doesn't have motion blur that LCDs have. If you don't see the rainbow effect from DLP I don't think you will be disappointed by the 4550i if it is as good as the initial reviews suggest. Will send pm on price.

So, the BenQ X3000i is THE model I would get if I could get placement right and was keeping things on the 'cheaper' side of things. But, if I was having issues with the noise from XPR, then I might try to go to the Sony XW5000. That is a native 4K projector. It has sub-30ms input lag, and a laser light source with extremely low measured noise levels. It's not flawless, as there may need to be some image adjustments over time, but in my experience, Sony delivers a VERY good image that is a clear step up over the DLP competitors, though it might be pretty close to what the Epson puts out in their LS12000. [https://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-XW5000ES-Laser-Projector-Review.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-XW5000ES-Laser-Projector-Review.htm) I would either get the Epson LS12000 or the Sony, and my leanings would be towards the native 4K and no XPR technology required, which native 4K delivers from that product.

Frosty-Engineering24r/projectors · BenQ X3000i vs TK700 →2023-01-18T14:43:16
Now sure about that, but I did get mine. I also was waiting on news of a upgraded one. It's nice. Works well. Had it about 2 weeks. Only complaint (and you'll read from others) is the Android dongle you install in the top under the lid, can not be used for anything else. But no complaints yet. Finding wood to knock on. I also posted a note to BenQ sub page about just placing it upside down without ceiling mount. Waiting on their reply. I may use rubber feet.

Define "Open Box"... For me it sounds like a returned Product - so NO. If its unused then YES - if you can and want to miss out on 1440p120. You don´t need the higher Brightness of the X3000 for "only" 120".

Thanks for the reply. But HT2060/HT3560 are not even announced here. I do not want TK series because of low color range coverage. And then remains HT4550i being so expensive which my dilemna is. Also the table is not much helpful for sub-2000USD projectors. Everything is there in x3000i except lens shift (which seems fine) and picture modes like filmmaker & ISF modes. x3000i seems to have higher color coverage. HT3550 (w2700) is here but it seems it is comparable to x3000i. HT3550 is more suited for dark room but would have preferred solid state so came to x3000i. By any chance, do you have any advise in which regard HT3550 would be better than x3000i?

If you’re more geared towards movies. I wouldn’t get the X3000i tbh. No projector at that price point is true native 4K. Pixel-shifting can produce images which are indistuingashable from the real thing as reported by people who look at projectors for a living.

Op I’m Aussie too. Just got an x3000i a few weeks ago and we love it. Using light beige walls waiting for a grey ALR screen to arrive and it’s already glorious. Go the LED projector if you can afford it. I ran thru some test blurray discs yesterday and the defaults are pretty close to good color/contrast as is (until screen in place), it’s super bright and I use 110” size and it’s fine, 120” would be super bright. Pj is as per benq online calculator at 3.2m back, loung is below pj at same distance. I put in heavy curtains previously so my whole living room is blackout when I want. That said with side light when curtains part open 2-3 foot it’s still very watchable. https://www.quickfitblindsandcurtains.com.au/home-theatre-cinema-room-custom-curtains-melbourne-ash-black.html

We bought the BenQ x3000i and it is great for movies and shows as well. We do notice some RGE but only with subtitles so it wasn’t distracting to us. Keep in mind the offset this projector needs. It won’t fit everyone’s space
