  I would watch this video and I'd skip the Freestyle completely. The lack of a full sized HDMI port is enough of an issue by itself to make me walk away. The price is at least more reasonable for what it is, but it's outclassed by other models for sure. Watch this video, and others on his channel, for better reference of portable models...   For a small bedroom, I’d honestly keep it simple and focus on a projector that’s quiet, compact, and easy to use in the dark rather than chasing huge brightness numbers. The Dangbei N2 Mini is a really nice option because it’s small, has good picture quality for movie nights, and the auto focus/setup features make it super easy for bedroom use. If you want something even more portable, a lot of people also like the Samsung Freestyle and XGIMI MoGo series for smaller rooms and casual streaming.

  I use the samsung freestyle and it's the best damn portable projector. $350, streams Netflix and everything without extra devices, sound is solid, and it literally fits in a backpack side pocket. The 180 degree stand means you can project anywhere in a small dorm. Best Buy has them in stock across NYC.

  Yeah I do have xcloud with ultimate but I'll probably use a console considering I have both the series s and x as well as the projector only supports WiFi 5

  Mini/micro HDMI is a very weak connector on all products. Full size HDMI is on a Fire TV Stick. It's on all cable boxes. It's on all game consoles. It is on projectors half the size of the Samsung Freestyle. That said, at well under $500, the Freestyle is finally at the price point it should have been from day one, and if it fits the needs of someone, it can be in the running.

  I'm far from knowledgeable in the projector world, I'm I'm looking for an upgrade on my cheap Amazon projector I picked up a couple of years ago, now don't get me wrong it works, and I like it for casual movie watching in bed. But text is unreadable and that rules out it for gaming. Here is my lack of knowledge showing, as I don't know the best way to describe it in any technical terminology, when I look at the projected image on the wall you can see the gaps between all the dots. From what I've read and researched the Samsung Freestyle is crap, using the Samsung name to sell. I'm looking for an upgrade too, similar budget to you, second hand seems to the way to go, but I'm liking the look of the XGIMI EFLIN FLIP, seems to have good reviews

  Exactly , can't go with UST bcoz of my kid,he will break it within an hour. Need google tv with short throw so that i can put it high on a shelf. C2 ultra  os is bad , visionmaster is not available in my country. Dangbei , xgimi , anker nebula etc. Are available by import but no service centres in my country. Went with gp520 as a last resort. Samsung freestyle has brightness issues. Have a xgimi desktop stand pro with gp520, only this worked for me.

  It sounds like you need to adjust your settings. I have no issues seeing in light unless you got it some sort of sunroom. You may need to manually focus the project and put it in game mode for better color if that's what you want.

  Same problem here. Im used to quirks it has and I've learned the situations when to take the amazing slowness of Freestyle to consideration. With focusing I always do the same procedure after putting the thing on: first i press autofocus, doesnt matter what quality comes out, just do that first then adjust it manually: press right or left key with remote till picture goes decently blurrry then go back until it looks as sharp as possible. Works for me. Sometimes you have to do it twice because it doesnt stay sharp :D(may be room lightning related issue) but after absolutely max 3 times adjusting it stays sharp for whole watching session. That autofocus thing has to be done first ( usually this extra fiddle exists only when you've just turned the machine on) because if I do it manually straightaway, ,( when it is even laggier than otherwise) whole focus control might get stuck and then only option seems to be restarting the whole contraption:D

  Ahh that’s good. No im looking to buy and when researching everyone is talking about November’s update (1603) breaking keystone.. lots of people saying they cannot adjust both manually or auto. Thanks for the reply.. might be limited to a few people ?!

  Thanks! Tried high altitude mode on/off several times... and reset to factory default yesterday. Same RPM, same noise. Constant, but even. Could it be the 1.222.9 software of Sept. 23? I think I read you haven't updated? New (I think) more accurate measurements: Room: **27 dB** with Freestyle OFF: With Freestyle ON: \- 3 cm: **53 dB** \- 0,5m: **43 dB** \- 1m: **38 dB** \- 2m: **34 dB** Specs says 30dB, and you 25dB inches away... I'll return it. :( Thanks again for help and your patience. :)
