r/projectors · Help with choosing projector No projectors do well competing with a lot of light in the room. That's physics and it IS as simple as that. A TV absolutely trounces a projector in that regard. Likewise, you are looking at the 'portable' projector category which is pushing maximum light output near 1,000 lumens. But, reality may be a fair bit less for the Epson and a good deal less for the GV50. This video (different Epson model) got over 900 ISO lumens from the Epson and only 325 from the GV50. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc\_Y-mFY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc_Y-mFY) As a very simple statement, if you want more light in the room, get the brightest projector you can, even if there are a few minor tradeoffs. Epson delivers a great looking image overall, and the EF21 is a solid choice that I would take in a second over the GV50 if I was using it in a room with any ambient light. But, it will only go so far with fighting ambient light. Keep in mind that models like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra, or the Soundcore Nebula X1 or XGimi Horizon 20, are pushing over twice the amount of light out of their projectors with their lifestyle models, and they are starting to add zoom and lens shift to some models as well. These models don't have to cost $1,000+ more than what you are spending, but they do cost more. Keep an eye out for good deals.
r/projectors · Is LG Cinebeam Q 4k worth the price? Depends on what price you are paying and what your final goal is. The Cinebeam Q, portable unit delivers a nice image, but it doesn't come with a tripod mount, which is a big negative and the adjustment stand is very rudimentary. It also isn't the easiest of the portable models to setup. That may not matter much, but you absolutely MUST use an external speaker with it as it has the worst internal speaker of any projector I have ever heard over the years. A shame as LG makes some decent speakers and knows how to. That said, it's a solid little unit with really good image quality overall. Still, according to The Hook Up, there may be better options for your money, like the BenQ GV50... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=Wy1NvdW102x\_RcoX](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=Wy1NvdW102x_RcoX)
r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle For Bedroom Night Use I'm not a fan of Samsung at all with these models. The micro HDMI connection is absolutely abysmal and should never be on any projector. The price, on the other hand, is far more realistic to where it should be. I'd watch this video... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=bqKR25CLN8op261C](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=bqKR25CLN8op261C) The BenQ GV50 is a clear winner for exactly your type of use. The Samsung models are also reviewed in prior portable model videos on the same channel and are worth watching.
r/projectors · Mogo 3 pro vs Freestyle 2 ? Full sized HDMI is a absolute minimum requirement. Embedded apps don't allow you to play games, or hook up external sources, and internal 'smart' features become outdated after a few years of use and then you need to hook up a external streaming device like a Amazon Fire TV Stick. Some people like doing this from the start as external streaming devices tend to be faster and more reliable as it is. The Freestyle 2 has good colors but it is dim compared to some other models. Not sure if you are chasing size over anything else, but this video is one to watch, and his previous shootout includes the Freestyle 2 in the lineup... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=99kXB9GQPBmiNpxb](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=99kXB9GQPBmiNpxb) I would go out of my way to get the BenQ GV50 over either of these models based upon the review and the quality and customer support that BenQ has delivered over the years.
r/projectors · Advice - samsung freestyle replacement You gotta watch this video if you haven't. It covers portable models really well... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=AJtyOdvZij0DNqiF](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=AJtyOdvZij0DNqiF) The Freestyle has been hit hard because at MSRP it is way overpriced and really is quite dim for the money spent. The GV50 from BenQ is a much better option in that price range if you can get it.
r/projectors · LG CineBeam Q in Spain The Cinebeam Q does have a lot of RBE issues that I have seen. Worse than other DLP models which I own by a fair bit. The compact size is really nice. It is quite portable. But, the external power supply is a consideration as is the IR remote instead of a RF remote or better IR sensor placement on the model. I enjoy the one I have and don't notice any laser speckle when I use it on my wall and didn't see any when I used it on a 110" white screen. In general use, I've been really happy with it overall. The internal speaker is perhaps the most garbage thing about it. The internal apps are probably the best thing. The support of a major manufacturer goes a long way to making the operating system a fair bit better. I assume you watched this video... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?feature=shared) There are ones from prior years worth looking at as well, like this one... [https://youtu.be/yvtpArSHXeU?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/yvtpArSHXeU?feature=shared) The BenQ GV50 is 2.1 kg and is very well reviewed, but is larger for sure. The XGimi Flip is an intriguing model, but I'm not sure how it fares against the competition.

r/projectors · best beamer under 1000 Euro for 3 meter projector screen - BenQ GV 50 or XGIMI Mogo 4 Laser or other suggestion Those are really not that great for a 3 meter screen. I just upgraded from a GV50 to a w1080st because the GV50 was really not that bright. What I suggest is get a second hand name brand projector (like a w1070 or others) and a firetv stick or xiaomi tv box. You'll be way happier. Right now I'm using the w1080st which I got for 250$ and a 50$ xiaomi tv box and it outperforms the GV50 in everything, especially price. Keep in mind I was using the GV50 on a 90 inch screen, not a 120. Even if you need portability, I'd look for something that has at least 700-800 ANSI lumens tested by a third party. You have the budget for it.

r/projectors · What’s the best projector to watch films on the ceiling? BenQ GV50, its brighter than Samsung freestyle and 3 axis adjustment with tilt base. The only one weakness is price.....

r/budgetprojectors · Looking for a bedroom projector (bedside table setup, tight space, 2.5m throw, EU) - Samsung The Freestyle 2 vs. others? Hi, thanks for the reply. How does GV32 compare to GV50? I've seen very little reviews of it, mostly from India. There is around 100 Euro difference between those two models.

r/budgetprojectors · Looking for a bedroom projector (bedside table setup, tight space, 2.5m throw, EU) - Samsung The Freestyle 2 vs. others? Your use case sounds almost tailor-made for the BenQ GV50. A bedside table setup, limited space, and off-center projection are exactly the kind of situations where it shines. I'd probably choose it over the Freestyle 2, mainly because of the brighter image and more flexible placement.

r/budgetprojectors · Help me choose: BenQ GV50 vs Epson EF-21/22 vs BenQ TH575 for movies + casual gaming The TH575 would definitely present a brighter image. But, as it is a bulb based projector; have a higher black floor and worse black levels than the GV50 since it is a laser projector. Another important note, if you are going to use the speakers on each projector: go with the GV50. In my experience with the TH575, the speaker (mono) gets loud but lacks bass and some detail.

r/budgetprojectors · Help me choose: BenQ GV50 vs Epson EF-21/22 vs BenQ TH575 for movies + casual gaming I just got a Benq GV50. The admin interface is laggy for sure. But the smart TV interface is zippy. Needs darkness but works well in darker conditions. I have it on a white 92” screen. Gaming lag is good. Playing Mario kart with the kids works well. Sound not bad. Could be better. But it’s a very potable unit.

r/projectors · What's the best Portable projector? I’m a huge fan of this series. I actually rocked the older **GV30** for a long time, but I just upgraded to the **GV50** and it’s honestly a game changer if you just want to rot in bed and watch movies. If you’re like me and your #1 priority is "simplest way to project on the ceiling," this is it. **The real-world upgrade feels:** * **The stand is elite:** The new 360° base is so much better than the old one. I just park it on my nightstand, pivot it up, and my ceiling is a 100” screen. Zero effort. * **Netflix finally works:** The GV30’s OS was a pain, but this one has Google TV and native Netflix. No more messing with HDMI sticks or weird workarounds. * **Cozy Audio:** The 2.1ch sound is actually punchy. It has this "Ceiling Cinema" mode that makes the audio feel right even when you're lying flat on your back. It’s 1080p and 500 lumens, so it's definitely a "lights-off" machine, but BenQ’s color science is legit—it looks way more polished than any of those random Amazon brands. If you’re a movie goer who values a "no-fuss" setup over raw specs, I'd say go for it.

r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 that's if you use it, considering performance (REAL) figures ("pi55 poor" abilities/performance), you are unlikely often or at all. Even if it stands, not ever used, battery is going to get depleted, that even within 3 years isn't covered by warranty. @ OP: again, both BenQ GV50 and LG CineBeam Q belong in a pre-teen girls room, design/fashion accessory, not a proper projector, regardless of labels"warranties" on it.
r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 okay, so you have one to insist, that this garbage (GV50) is good/reasonable option? [www.projector-database.com/pro/benqgv50-en.html](http://www.projector-database.com/pro/benqgv50-en.html) [https://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-GV50.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-GV50.htm) not going to, BUT if I'd be bothered, I'd find "no brand" better projectors for about a half price, even in portable variants "Horses for courses", but (your opinion/recommendation) this time round got to be "handbag fashion course for blind"
r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 "WAS", you meant to say, right? Whilst they've made (and do make) decent projectors, particular GV50 belongs in pre-teenage girls bedroom and that is if she isn't picky, that likes appearance more than performance.

r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 It is a trade off. Better image with LG but better warranty with BenQ. Everyone's situation is different so I will let you decide what is most important to you. I personally like having a good warranty.
r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 One year vs three year warranty. Not saying that is the only thing you should consider but I know I would certainly factor it into my decision. 🤷

r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 I wouldn't bother these look funky but imagine a TV without a backlight...you will buy it and never use it. As someone who as numerous projectors get one with at least 1800 lumens...even then you will struggle to use it unless it mid winter and pitch black

r/projectors · Is the Samsung Freestyle 2 worth it? Honestly, I dont understand the hate toward not having a full-size HDMI. This won't be used for home cinema, it is a consumer product that my GF is going to put next to her bed to play some movies late at night; a very casual product. Why do you need a full HDMI for anything here? Do we expect to use a less than $400 projector for 20 years, being concerned about the port not being durable? it is a technology product, in 5 years, a similar projector would be priced at $60! And this channel, although very respectable and has one of the best reviews for projectors I have seen, is comparing FS Gen 1 from 3 years ago, priced at $800, with others, which definitely don't make sense to buy. FS Gen 1 was simply not that good for that price range. Many things have changed, and although the Gen 2 specs are not a big improvement compared to Gen 1, the price tag is much lower. For example, Gen 1 was getting compared with BenQ GV50, and it couldn't stand its ground, but Gen 2 is close to half the price of BenQ GV50, and is now a pretty good option to consider. Not to mention that it has a lot of features that similarly priced alternatives don't which might be worthless for people like us that have all the other shit to daisy chain, but is a very useful addition to normal consumers.

r/projectors · Any experience with the standard JMGO N1S + other recommendations? I'm the same here... from Spain I don't see any page, except the official store, to buy it at 999€... Another alternative that I'm considering is the Benq GV50 which also has Google TV (with Netflix), costs 699€. I'll see if anyone has other suggestions or reviews of the normal N1S, in Amazon Spain does not even appear.

r/budgetprojectors · Best beamer under 1000 euro's? (JMGO N1S or BenQ GP100) As you can probably tell, I've spent weeks thinking about these portable models :D In the end about a week ago I decided to go with the GV50. If it turns out I enjoy the projection experience, I'll keep it as a portable due to battery and will save some money to buy a decent lifestyle projector in a year or two for my favorite projection position in the house - which I don't know yet haha. \--- I gotta say, I reaaaally wanted the JMGO N1S. Triple laser and portable, what's not to like. But then I realized that: \- Any repairs/warranty work from where I am in Europe would mean shipping to US or China/HK. So two months without the projector easily. \- JMGO tries to actively hide the N1S model. It's not really highlighted in their website or amazon store pages, and most Amazon stores only carry the bigger models. Somehow the even smaller model (JMGO Picoflix) is also easy to find. This is a red flag for me. Something is up, I don't want to find out at this point. This is just friendly advice so you can gain from my research. If you just need to have brightness the Dangbei Atom might be good enough for you, without the triple laser issues of the N1S.
r/budgetprojectors · Best beamer under 1000 euro's? (JMGO N1S or BenQ GP100) https://preview.redd.it/oj6h78j5nxzd1.png?width=1552&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e17e10543f073f129f4d1657aefe60dbb7d441a And this is from previous model the N1. This means they haven't fixed the issue with the new model. One caveat that might work. Reducing laser power and projecting on an absorbent/matte surface will reduce this by a lot (I'm assuming). But I hope you see my point, I've already started specifying "conditions" to use the N1S appropriately. I wouldn't have to with the GV50. I'm 100% sure the N1S will look a lot better with increased ambient lighting though, which in real life, might turn out to happen more often than not!
r/budgetprojectors · Best beamer under 1000 euro's? (JMGO N1S or BenQ GP100) Double the brightness yes, but worse contrast and color accuracy on the GP100 In addition, the N1S suffers in dark scenes more than they let out. Check Reddit posts about it.

r/budgetprojectors · Best beamer under 1000 euro's? Go with the Epson EpiqVision Mini EF22 if you want the best all around image quality for a living room. The **1000 ISO lumens** brightness allows it to handle moderate ambient light well while offering great color accuracy and an easy to use **Google TV** interface. Choose the BenQ GV50 if you want maximum portability or bedroom ceiling viewing. It features a **built in battery**, automatic ceiling angle detection, and an **excellent 2.1 channel speaker system** with a dedicated subwoofer. Pick the BenQ TH575 if you are setting up a dedicated home theater or focus heavily on fast gaming. It provides a massive **3800 ANSI lumens** of brightness and a low **16.7ms input lag** but lacks smart streaming features out of the box.
India isn’t going to have the biggest market share compared to the USA and Europe. So there’s a lot of reviews on these models out here. Here’s the difference between the two: **• Light Source Technology:** The GV50 uses a **Blue Laser light source** which generally offers slightly better contrast and color saturation. The GV32 relies on a standard **LED light source**. Both deliver 500 ANSI Lumens. **• The Battery (Crucial Difference):** The GV50 features a **built-in rechargeable battery** providing up to 2.5 hours of untethered playtime. The GV32 does **not** have an internal battery. Instead, it must be plugged into a wall outlet or powered via a compatible **60W+ USB-C power bank**. **• Color Coverage:** The GV50 features **98% Rec. 709** color gamut coverage, while the GV32 covers **95% Rec. 709**. **Recommendation** If you plan on using your projector primarily near a wall outlet (like on a nightstand) or you already own a strong power bank, saving the €100 and choosing the BenQ GV32 is highly sensible. However, if true "grab-and-go" portability without any wires matters to you, the BenQ GV50 is worth the premium for its built-in battery.
Well the EF-21 is brighter than the GV50 in this comparison.
