GV50 may be a solid option to consider. Never used it but BenQ makes solid products they stand behind usually. Most have 3 year warranty and will pay for shipping with quick turn around if you unfortunately need warranty work.

PlayStationPeper/budgetprojectors · Epson EF-22N vs Crossbeats Lumex Vista – Need advice before I Order →2026-07-03T04:44:09
Go with the Epson EpiqVision Mini EF22 if you want the best all around image quality for a living room. The **1000 ISO lumens** brightness allows it to handle moderate ambient light well while offering great color accuracy and an easy to use **Google TV** interface. Choose the BenQ GV50 if you want maximum portability or bedroom ceiling viewing. It features a **built in battery**, automatic ceiling angle detection, and an **excellent 2.1 channel speaker system** with a dedicated subwoofer. Pick the BenQ TH575 if you are setting up a dedicated home theater or focus heavily on fast gaming. It provides a massive **3800 ANSI lumens** of brightness and a low **16.7ms input lag** but lacks smart streaming features out of the box.

lemmeputafuckingnamer/projectors · best beamer under 1000 Euro for 3 meter projector screen - BenQ GV 50 or XGIMI Mogo 4 Laser or other suggestion →2026-02-03T11:17:26
Those are really not that great for a 3 meter screen. I just upgraded from a GV50 to a w1080st because the GV50 was really not that bright. What I suggest is get a second hand name brand projector (like a w1070 or others) and a firetv stick or xiaomi tv box. You'll be way happier. Right now I'm using the w1080st which I got for 250$ and a 50$ xiaomi tv box and it outperforms the GV50 in everything, especially price. Keep in mind I was using the GV50 on a 90 inch screen, not a 120. Even if you need portability, I'd look for something that has at least 700-800 ANSI lumens tested by a third party. You have the budget for it.

Well the EF-21 is brighter than the GV50 in this comparison.

The TH575 would definitely present a brighter image. But, as it is a bulb based projector; have a higher black floor and worse black levels than the GV50 since it is a laser projector. Another important note, if you are going to use the speakers on each projector: go with the GV50. In my experience with the TH575, the speaker (mono) gets loud but lacks bass and some detail.

I just got a Benq GV50. The admin interface is laggy for sure. But the smart TV interface is zippy. Needs darkness but works well in darker conditions. I have it on a white 92” screen. Gaming lag is good. Playing Mario kart with the kids works well. Sound not bad. Could be better. But it’s a very potable unit.

BenQ GV50 and the TH575 would be my top picks. Skip the EF-21 and EF-22.

1000% agree with you. GV50 is pretty suti for bed use. especially GV50's adjust base, it is very easy to adjust to the angle you want. the speaker and picture color are pretty good when i watch japan anime.

I’m a huge fan of this series. I actually rocked the older **GV30** for a long time, but I just upgraded to the **GV50** and it’s honestly a game changer if you just want to rot in bed and watch movies. If you’re like me and your #1 priority is "simplest way to project on the ceiling," this is it. **The real-world upgrade feels:** * **The stand is elite:** The new 360° base is so much better than the old one. I just park it on my nightstand, pivot it up, and my ceiling is a 100” screen. Zero effort. * **Netflix finally works:** The GV30’s OS was a pain, but this one has Google TV and native Netflix. No more messing with HDMI sticks or weird workarounds. * **Cozy Audio:** The 2.1ch sound is actually punchy. It has this "Ceiling Cinema" mode that makes the audio feel right even when you're lying flat on your back. It’s 1080p and 500 lumens, so it's definitely a "lights-off" machine, but BenQ’s color science is legit—it looks way more polished than any of those random Amazon brands. If you’re a movie goer who values a "no-fuss" setup over raw specs, I'd say go for it.

Suggest BenQ GV50, because it comes wtih battery so that you have more portbility.

Atasasr/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 →2025-10-19T20:08:28
that's if you use it, considering performance (REAL) figures ("pi55 poor" abilities/performance), you are unlikely often or at all. Even if it stands, not ever used, battery is going to get depleted, that even within 3 years isn't covered by warranty. @ OP: again, both BenQ GV50 and LG CineBeam Q belong in a pre-teen girls room, design/fashion accessory, not a proper projector, regardless of labels"warranties" on it.

DifficultyHour4999r/budgetprojectors · LG cinebeam Q vs Benq GV50 →2025-10-19T19:58:38
One year vs three year warranty. Not saying that is the only thing you should consider but I know I would certainly factor it into my decision. 🤷

okay, so you have one to insist, that this garbage (GV50) is good/reasonable option? [www.projector-database.com/pro/benqgv50-en.html](http://www.projector-database.com/pro/benqgv50-en.html) [https://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-GV50.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-GV50.htm) not going to, BUT if I'd be bothered, I'd find "no brand" better projectors for about a half price, even in portable variants "Horses for courses", but (your opinion/recommendation) this time round got to be "handbag fashion course for blind"

I would skip the lg cinebeam q because for that price the sound is horrible, for a good middle ground you can get a nebula mars 3 but the benq gv50 will work just as good. The hook up has a good review video comparing these.

I’ve got a BenQ GV50. Works great for movies at night in bed and for watching sport outside. Battery gets through a ~100 minute rugby match without issue, and inbuilt speakers are solid

AV_Integratedr/projectors · LG CineBeam Q in Spain →2025-04-22T14:20:55
The Cinebeam Q does have a lot of RBE issues that I have seen. Worse than other DLP models which I own by a fair bit. The compact size is really nice. It is quite portable. But, the external power supply is a consideration as is the IR remote instead of a RF remote or better IR sensor placement on the model. I enjoy the one I have and don't notice any laser speckle when I use it on my wall and didn't see any when I used it on a 110" white screen. In general use, I've been really happy with it overall. The internal speaker is perhaps the most garbage thing about it. The internal apps are probably the best thing. The support of a major manufacturer goes a long way to making the operating system a fair bit better. I assume you watched this video... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?feature=shared) There are ones from prior years worth looking at as well, like this one... [https://youtu.be/yvtpArSHXeU?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/yvtpArSHXeU?feature=shared) The BenQ GV50 is 2.1 kg and is very well reviewed, but is larger for sure. The XGimi Flip is an intriguing model, but I'm not sure how it fares against the competition.

Thanks for this! I'm in the same boat as OP, and the GV50 is looking really good after watching this. But it's now $799 instead of $599, and meanwhile I can find the Freestyle 2 on secondhand marketplaces for $399. Except it doesn't sound as appealing anymore. Guess I'll sit on it :(

Wutamerir/budgetprojectors · Best beamer under 1000 euro's? (JMGO N1S or BenQ GP100) →2024-11-09T20:09:29

This means they haven't fixed the issue with the new model. One caveat that might work. Reducing laser power and projecting on an absorbent/matte surface will reduce this by a lot (I'm assuming). But I hope you see my point, I've already started specifying "conditions" to use the N1S appropriately. I wouldn't have to with the GV50. I'm 100% sure the N1S will look a lot better with increased ambient lighting though, which in real life, might turn out to happen more often than not!

Interesting yes, so probably in complete darkness the gv50 might be slightly more enjoyable to watch but with some light the gp100. Also the [the hook up portable projectors](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=uoQ1gp1puUqpcoWz) does think the N1S has better image quality and only mentioned something about some laser speckle from the red laser from really close

Accomplished_Tie3375r/projectors · Best stowaway projector - white wall, ca. 2-2.5 m from wall →2024-09-26T07:51:53
So, to update you all, I had the chance to get my hands on a GV50 (in Europe, this seems to be a challenge given the low stocks here). I'm quite happy with it overall; it ticks the boxes, but now that I'm down the rabbit hole, I might be tempted to look around. To put some context, the main uses of the projector are to watch series and movies (for us and the kids) and occasional gaming. We have not had a TV for almost 10 years (where's my furniture pointing at?), and want to keep it this way in our living room, so the projector's presence should be minimal (should be stowed away easily). Friends lent us a Samsung The Freestyle, which was ok for us with the blinds closed, but I still followed the general advice to stay away from this overpriced one. Pros: * Design, like it or hate it! * Ease of use, the interface is quite smooth. * The image quality is good for such a small projector. * "Stowability": the format and the general aesthetics make it easy to store away on a shelf. * The fan noise is largely acceptable. * The throw ratio is adequate. I have around 6-7 feet between the projector and the wall, so 1.2:1 is great. I might have preferred 1:1 since I'm not looking for a supersized image. * Black levels are quite good, and dark details are surprisingly good. Neutral: * Autofocus is "almost" perfect, which is quite frustrating. It works most of the time but is sometimes imperfect. To be fair, I'm projecting on a white wall that does not seem 100% flat, so I get why it might not be perfect. * While the sound is loud enough, it has this weird, too bassy/muffled feeling at low volume. I think this disappears when I turn the volume up, which I cannot do as the kids generally sleep when we use it. * It is bright enough in low-light environments (there is no need to be 100% dark) but not suited for daylight. This was known beforehand, so there is no disappointment here. Cons: * It's maybe a little pricey compared to other options. It's €699 in Europe, while the Xgimi Horizon is around €700-900, depending on discounts. €599 would make it a killer option. * The power unit is not built-in - a bit cumbersome. * I don't get the point of a battery in this unit. It does not seem sturdy enough to be taken outside, and it adds to manufacturing costs. It also opens up the possibility of having a built-in power unit. If I wanted an outdoor projector in this price range, I would go for the Mars 3, and definitely not the GV50. TL;DR: This is a good, easy-to-use portable projector for my use case. However, I feel that there is an empty spot in terms of the product. Something around that price, just with slightly higher specs and increased practical aspects, aimed at being in a living room and disappearing as soon as the movie ends, would be ideal.
