I like the Bravia 9 more and I’m super fixated on details and big into 4K physical media. There is no doubt OLEDs provide those perfect inky blacks. However, high end mini-LEDs get you 95% of that black performance + better processing (Sony), better luminance, better color saturation, and brighter HDR highlights (I believe the LG G series is on par here). That said - mini LEDs have like 4-5 advantages to OLED’s 1. To be fair, before owning my Sony Bravia 9, I would have never imagined liking it more than my OLED which I absolutely love. And for a room with lots of natural light, even without direct sunlight, the Sony absolutely crushes.

r/bravia · Snagged a Bravia 9 and I’m blown away! I came from OLED and had the A95L for a few months. It’s quite close and anyone saying otherwise likely hasn’t had them side by side in house. A store comparison is useless. The biggest things will be viewing angle and gaming differences. The viewing angle is fine up to 45 degrees on my 9. I think it’s overblown unless you regularly sit uncomfortably off angle.

Some people are saying the 7II appears better though in person. Others are saying the 9 is still superior as it might not have as much color, but maintains deeper blacks. The best thing would be to compare in person. Rtings is set to have their review released by 6/30 for the 7II. Might be worth waiting.

It’s a great TV, but it’s standard WOLED and a lot of people would even consider the Bravia 9 miniLED from 2024 that released around the same time the better TV. I would still get the 8 over other similar OLEDs from other brands because of Sony processing. Great TV in its own right, just doesn’t hold a candle to Sony’s QD OLEDs.

r/bravia · Snagged a Bravia 9 and I’m blown away! Between the 8 and A95L, the brightness is the biggest difference imo. That and color volume of QD OLED. Bravia 9 is more than good enough for PS5 gaming. I game on mine with a PS5 Pro, steam deck and switch 2, came from OLED. I say if it’s between a 77” A95L and 75” 9, go A95L all day. But if you’re looking at 85”, the 9 is a fantastic pick. If you’re less than 10 feet from the TV, the 77” is going to be really nice especially in a basement. I’d go OLED for basement personally. My 9 is in the living room. If you didn’t have any experience with QD OLED, you’d probably be really happy with a Bravia 8 in the basement too.

The black levels aren’t perfect like OLED, but honestly it’s 90% there. Also the colors and brightness are a huge. I can’t imagine how much better the new Bravia 9 will be. You won’t regret it!

r/bravia · Considering a Bravia 7 - talk to me about reflections Bravia 7 owner here. Definitely not worse than what you already have. I do recommend an articulating mount. In my bright room, most of the viewing occurs middle to west side and I adjust the display to slightly favor the viewing positions. This cuts down on reflection. I knew about the issue when I bought it. The Bravia 9 is stunning. I just didn't want to pay the premium for the added features.

I sit more or less in front of my 7, or at a slight angle. No problems. Just make sure you don'ty have any lights within the viewing angle of the tv.

r/bravia · Bravia 9 II 65 initial thoughts Last year when I bought a new TV I was leaning towards A95L or Bravia 9. I too was worried about OLED burn-in since I do game a bit for long sessions at times. Apparently, the newer TVs are better at it than 5+ years ago, but it's still technically a thing. I went with B9 just for that reason and I do not regret my choice one bit. B7 II should serve you well.

I like both but I do feel the OLED provides a slightly more crisp pictures. I notice it more when watching sports via youtubeTV. r/4kTV · What is Mini LED like for gaming? Does it have any ghosting (looking at the Sony Bravia 5 specifically)? The Bravia 5 has got slow pixel response times and also suffers from motion smearing. So ghosting is definitely an issue. You would get better contrast and depth on a higher tier mini led anyway. OLED imo is best for gaming however. I’d go with a Sony Bravia 9(flagship), Samsung QN90f (midrange) or TCL C7K (budget) depending on what you can afford if you really want a mini led for gaming. I prefer OLEDs and think burn in is overblown. Rtings I believe have shown that OLEDs are more durable than they are given credit for. I would go for an LG C5 if you want a midrange OLED for gaming. A Samsung S95F for a flagship (what I have in my living room).
r/4kTV · which tv should i buy I own a Samsung S95F and a Sony A95L. Both are QDOLEDs. I would say Sony is better for movies due to its image processing with fewer artefacts in fast scenes and colour accuracy. It is good for sports. It’s good for sports as well. Samsung is better for gaming due to its refresh rate and lower input lag. It’s brighter and has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. It’s also good for sports. Samsung is suited to bright rooms due to its anti glare tech and brightness. The Sony will be better off in a light controlled room. It comes down to your budget however, as these were flagship TVs. If you want a mini led- Samsung QN90F is a decent midrange option. Sony Bravia 9 and the mark 2 Bravia 9 are way better, but come at a premium price. I would opt for last year’s Samsung S95F (S95H has a weird frame around it) or 77 inch Sony A95L if you can afford the OLED. I would maybe go for a Sony Bravia 9 or a Samsung QN90F if you want a mini LED. OLEDs have better contrast, colours, no blooming (a halo effect caused by light bleeding into the surrounding pixels) and viewing angles. Mini LEDs tend to be brighter however and are more durable for heavy usage (I believe OLEDs have been proven to last longer on regular usage as Rtings have shown backlight failure on a LED tv is more likely to happen sooner than OLED burn in). Mid range- 1. Samsung S90F (65 inches means you get the patented Samsung tech instead of a WOLED due to their panel lottery). 2. Sony Bravia 7 Mini LED 3. Samsung QN90F 4. Sony Bravia 8 Premium: 1. Samsung S95F 2. Sony A95L 3. Sony Bravia 9. I preferred the A95L over the Bravia 8 MK 2 as well. The Sony Bravia 9 Mk 2 just came out and isn’t worth the price tag imo. Go for Samsung if you want vibrant colours, brightness and favour gaming more than watching movies. Go for a Sony TV if you care about image processing, colour accuracy and movies more. Both handle sports well in my experience.

It’s definitely a good option for general viewing, but for gaming I’d place the QN90F over it due to its faster panel response, port selection and low input lag. The Bravia 9’s argument is its cinematic immersion and graphical fidelity. Picture quality wise the Bravia 9 is comfortably better, but the QN90F is a better choice for pound for pound gaming performance. That’s why I chose that as the mid range option for OP as he’s more interested in gaming performance. If you are focusing on movies however I’d take both the Bravia 7 and 9 over the Samsung.
r/4kTV · Oled or Qled for living room tv If you want an OLED for bright rooms the Panasonic Z95B, Samsung S95F and LG G5 are great for bright rooms. The Samsung S90F can work too and since you are going for the 65 inch model; there wont be any panel lottery. Mini LEDs for bright rooms would include the Samsung QN90D/F, TCL C8K/QM8K and Sony Bravia 9. Avoid the Bravia 7 though as whilst it’s a very good Mini LED, its reflections are horrible and its viewing angles aren’t the best for the living room imo. I’ve got a Samsung S95F in my living room that’s bright and it’s great for gaming especially. Movies are solid too, but I prefer my Sony A95L in my room for that.

Sony does have A95L and this year Bravia 8 II (both QD-OLEDs) which are far better than S95D (calibation out of the box, contrasts, upscaling, consistent HDR gradient and brightness and what not). But considering the price to performance, you can get S95 around 1800€ while Bravia 9 or A95L needs 2500€. At this 1800€ price range Samsung S95D/LG G4 are the best TVs. Tips: To make Samsung look better or like Sony. Calibrate the TV (2 point or 20 point). Buy Apple TV 4K to remove ads and crap remote.

Now set up the B9ii, this works! Still I suggest some kind of curtains or plissees to dimm the windows a little. r/bravia · Snagged a Bravia 9 and I’m blown away! Yes correct but that matte screen isnt just for reflections. It also seems to heop the percieved light bleed and allows the blacks to stay deeper. Thing is none matte screens automatically seem darker. So it kind of balances itself out lol. The 9ii has an upgrade in xr processing. The backlight masterdrive is different. The processing on the 9ii wss a bit surprising with fine drtails and depth overall for an led tv. Regardless the bravia 9 has been underatted since launch. Still a fantastic tv ans if you catch a deal for sure go with it. Also the bravia 9 can hit 4k nits but they can it at 3200 nits so there are times the 9ii is slightly brighter.

Also I forgot to mention the context. I’m only viewing in dark room for serious watching, so no bright room conditions for me which gives the QD oled the quality advantage on the B9s, and viewing distances can be adjusted between 7-7.5 feet flexibility. And then the difference in size is just between 77 of higher quality to 85 of lower quality. That’s basically the dilemma.

Been very happy with the TV - I am upgrading from a 65” Bravia 7. I’m still playing around with settings but animated movies with lots of color look incredible, and the blacks/blooming is considerably better. The screen is very reflective just like the original 7, not a huge problem for us (our living room windows face east so it’s dark in the evenings). I compared to the Bravia 9 in store before purchasing and did think the colors looked better and the blooming comparable. Store didn’t have the 9 ii yet when I looked. I also have a non-Sony soundbar so the audio difference didn’t matter for me. I did see mention that the Bravia 9 II screen is very tough to clean, so might be a factor if you have little kids

Check the comparison, the blooming of TCL is worse than Bravia 9, and many people on reddit complained about motion handling. I had to turn down HDR brightness of G5 because it’s too bright. I don’t understimate TCL, they are my go to TV for medium budget, but no they are not up to LG and Sony flagships yet.

Although, better than MiniLed, they don’t look the best in bright rooms and they crush the shit out of shadow detail as well. Bravia 9 is so close that it won’t matter. The black levels are great, no burn in worries, brightness is phenomenal, processing is the best and will last longer than an OLED. The downside, blacks aren’t as black (but very close) and performance while gaming isn’t as good. But for pure movies/shows, go with the 9

But I have been thinking of switching to the B9 as my piece of mind has not settled when it comes to possible burn-in in the future. I find myself babying it even though I shouldn't be worrying about it with the 5-year panel warranty. It's funny what you notice owning an oled, like my family loves constantly pausing the tv to do something else, which was something I never paid attention to.

It seems that my TV got a software update which doesn’t allow you to get into service mode anymore using the same combination of button presses: Home, Center/Enter, Volume Up, Power - tried many many times and even checked and carefully started with the Home Screen and powered it off, followed by that button sequence.

r/bravia · Sony bravia 8 ii 65" impressions For those looking to upgrade to the Bravia 8ii from a Sony 900f/h or any of their LED’s, don’t hesitate it’s not even close and I have a Sony X90L. The LED’s are amazing but they are what they are and off angle the viewing is flat and the blacks do not compare. The newer Bravia 9, 7ii and 9ii are much better with blacks than the normal LED’s but nothing beats pure OLED! The Bravia 8ii is not the brightest oled, but it is damn bright and the colors POP! The biggest advantage of this Sony is the processor, everything looks new, modern, crisp and amazing. For context, I have a 77” LG G4 and to me it’s slightly brighter than my 65” b8ii but the Sony wins with its processing although it’s very close. The LG’s are amazing oled tvs as well and the whites pop off the screen, so both have their pros but that damn processing that Sony does is special.

r/bravia · Bravia 9 II 65 initial thoughts Well, if comparing an A95L to a B9 for mainly watching them in a dark room, yes the image quality difference with the QD oled is significant. For a brighter room the B9 actually would be as good or better, but once it’s night and it’s lights out it really favours the A95L due to micro contrast and zero blooming. Not to say the B9 still isn’t great because it is, but it’s noticeable unless you got some lights on in the room. From 8 feet yes, another reason why 85 is more suitable for that distance. I’m at 7 feet and a quarter (7’3’) distance so I’d have to choose either better image at 77 or worse but still great at 85.

B9 II is probably the way to go in your situation, it doesn't seem to have the horizontal streaking reflections all Sony TV's with X-wide has had since it was introduced. B9 II is considered to have an amazingly good anti-reflection as well, probably the best Sony has ever put out, but it tends to produce a more matte looking finish. All this said. Your room is the worst situation you can get for any TV and the side widows may cause regular B9 to produce horizontal reflections from strong light sources far out to the sides. If you could put some curtains on the windows behind you then the B9 would probably be fine as it can get quite bright to overcome a bright rooms better than most OLED ever could. As for reflections in dark scenes, there wouldn't be too much difference in an OLED vs miniLED, IF you are using professional settings as both will reproduce the scene the same way due to how HDR uses absolute light units with the intention to look the same on any TV as long as it can reproduce the same light output that's encoded in the material. But you could push the brightness and gamma up a bit and maybe even use Vivid mode to combat that, ASC may help a bit as well, regardless a dark scene will always struggle in a bright room and no display can help you with that unless they have some near magic anti-reflection coating. My simple advice is to at least do some level of light control in the room. I'm not saying to go caveman but reducing the light from the window behind you, why not try with curtains that can cut the light in half or so during the day when drawn closed, that would help with any TV and reflections.

r/bravia · Any owners of the Sony Bravia 7 II can tell me how good is the TV for gaming? I've compared both the 9 and the 9ii to my X95K and they're both much slower in regards to pixel response. While I don't have any fancy equipment so I can't give exact numbers these new TVs from Sony are far worse for gaming. I can't tell you obviously whether or not you'll notice it/whether you'll be bothered by it but, for me it was obvious immediately.

Forget bravia 9 ii, if you really want a lcd get bravia 9, it's cheaper, same VA, same processing, except rgb bullsh*t. S95H competes with G6, C6 competes with S90H. This year in Europe the midrange 77 and 83C6H uses 4 stack wrgb tandem panel and 77S90H uses qd-oled panel.

The processing is overrated too. The C3 processor is much better. I have an X90K with the same Cognitive XR as Bravia 7 and 9. It’s not bad, but nothing groundbreaking, the QM7K processor even is visibly superior. They all handle glare and bright rooms evenly. They all 3 need vivid mode to overcome strong glare. Honestly, the C3 handles it best, with the best reflection handling.

And I like my C3 way better. As you should surely know, the C4 just handles blacks and contrast and HDR better than the QM7K. I got the 98” QM7K for being “good enough” huge tv. The C3 is just better. And the Bravia 9 is not better than the QM7K. I’d say worse, because it has the same specs, 2,800 zones and 3,000 nits, but with a worse processor, in my honest opinion. Again, I have a tv with the same processor as Bravia 9, and it’s totally overrated. I promise the QM7K’s processor is better than the processor in the Bravia 9. It’s weird to dream of a Bravia 9 when you already have two better tv’s lol. 2,800 zones doesn’t compare to 8,294,400 self emissive pixels, and saying it does is pure copium, and the people saying it’s better are brain-dead.

r/4kTV · best gaming tv with reliable HDR that won’t lag on PC? Great choice honestly. The Sony BRAVIA 9 is one of the few TVs that really nails both HDR quality and low input lag for PC gaming. Mini LED brightness + Sony’s HDR processing should make games look insane, especially with a high-end rig. Would love to hear your impressions once you’ve spent some time gaming on it!

r/bravia · Considering a Bravia 7 - talk to me about reflections Have a 85 inch 7 in a room washed in sunlight lol. Look as a person who has had TVs with the best light reflection and not so good in this room. Truth is no matter how much light reflection a tv has in dark scenes during sunlight or a bright lit rooms you’re going to see the light in the dark scenes no matter what. If you can control the light it’s makes the most difference and would concentrate on that or just don’t watch dark shows during noon time. The 7 is amazing but it doesn’t have the peak brightness of the 9 or the speakers. If you’re like most people who have such a TV and have a sound bar or surround sound system, the speakers doesn’t matter. It’s plenty bright enough for me in a bright room and brightness, can’t fix sunlight on a dark scene.

r/bravia · Considering a Bravia 7 - talk to me about reflections I just went through the b7 b9 dilemma. Returned the b7 for an open box b9 that was the same price as b7 on sale. Its in my living room. 75" wall mounted 12' away from a large window with blinds. With the b7 daytime viewing I always had to close the blinds and since they aren't great blinds I was still seeing them. With the b9 I dont have to close the blinds but 20% of the time I will while I watch TV sat morning with a coffee. The reflection handling is different between the two. B7 has a more matte screen which sorta diffuses light, the b9 has a more gloss screen and it sort of horizontally diffuses light and creates a sort of rainbow effect while diffusing. I found the pm on the 7 indistinguishable from the 9, except in brightness and reflection handling. What I really gained on the 9 is the better speakers and higher peak brightness. Both great tvs but I wouldn't want the 7 in a room with a lot of ambient light. The 9 even annoys people with the rainbow refractions.

r/Hisense · So u7 series in europe this year is a lot worse? The European U8Q is equal to the US model except for the OS, so its definitely better than the U75QG. A reputable site called Choose TV (ex members from HDTV Polska) rated the U8Q higher than the TCL C8K and C9K [https://www.choose.tv/us/tv/reviews/hisense/hisense-u8q\_AGB](https://www.choose.tv/us/tv/reviews/hisense/hisense-u8q_AGB) They do in-picture contrast and brightness measurements and the U8Q appears to be one of the best LCDs behind the Sony Bravia 9.

r/Hisense · I'm Having a Very Difficult Time Pulling the Trigger on a 75" U8 Because of the ADS Pro Panel When off axis the ADS-Pro panel will have more bloom, and it’s visible. When on axis the bloom is not noticeable at that size with how small the dimming zones become. It’s likely that a 65” VA panel and a 75” ADS-pro panel have very similar bloom, but due to the incredible size increase it’s not noticeable. It goes from 1,600 in a 65” to 2,000 in the 75”, according to Rtings.com. The first line in the review on Rtings.com states, “The Hisense 75U8N is impressive for mixed usage. It’s well-suited for use in a bright room since you aren’t distracted by reflections on your screen, but it also provides deep enough blacks to look good in a dark room.”. Specifically noting it’s fine in a dark room with no mention of bloom. It’s fantastic in dark rooms with local dimming on. Rtings again,”The Hisense 75U8N has great contrast. Its native contrast is poor, but with local dimming enabled, the TV displays deep enough blacks in a dark room that mostly stay that way when bright highlights are also on screen. Unfortunately, the 75-inch model’s contrast ratio is a lot lower than it is on the other sizes, so you don’t get the same extremely deep blacks that are approaching OLED territory.” So if you have an OLED that can come close to the nits of the U8N you will have better contrast, and from my eyes the Bravia 9 is a bit better. That said, in a dark room, the insane brightness of highlights and excellent dimming zone control it’s almost not possible for most people to even see the difference or the bloom. It LITERALLY has more dimming zones than the 85” and 100” U8N. I got to be with a bunch of sales guys doing A&B testing on the different TVs and almost every single rep said the Hisense U8N looked better than any other Mini LeD of the same size other than the Bravia 9. The Bravia 9 has 1920 dimming zones with possible a few more steps in it. What it can do is get brighter with dimming zones making it have a little more “oomf” and even watching demo content the eye scorching brightness starts to make it impossible for someone who isn’t an engineer to see any bloom even if it was there. The Sony is also the only TV to have better color control through every brightness level. It’s also >2x the cost. So what I’m saying is that the U8N is the second best performing TV in this size, anecdotally and verifiably in the mini LED class and in some cases killing OLEDs. If you want better, Sony is the only option and it doesn’t beat it by a large margin, but by small percentages. If that difference is worth it to you, then go for it. Hisense knew the ADS-Pro panel has it’s limitations, so to overcome it they added other features to the panel like a huge number of dimming zones and more control over them to increase the control and total brightness from the miniLEDs. I’m not fanboying, I’m saying it from a place where I’m using a lower end model than you, using it in the same or darker place than you, but has the same panel and it’s still performing better than anything else other than the U8 or the Bravia 9.

r/Hisense · I'm Having a Very Difficult Time Pulling the Trigger on a 75" U8 Because of the ADS Pro Panel I looked into Sony but, according to Rtings, the only one that can keep up with the Hisense U8N is the Bravia 9 and that thing is well over double the price tag of the 75u8n. I'm sure it's nice but it's not 2.5x better to justify the price tag.

I have a feeling you might be disappointed in the motion blur of the B9ii compared to your current tv. Even the B9 had considerably slow pixel response time, which leads to the motion blur. I think it’s acceptable but the color smearing is what makes this tv more challenging to recommend for gamers specifically.
