r/bravia · Sony Bravia 8 II or just Bravia 8? It depends how often you upgrade your TV. I update every 8-10 years. So it’s worthwhile to go for the top of the line. Go for the 8 II. The colour volume is noticeably larger. It pops like crazy. And has excellent daytime performance as well in terms of brightness. I got mine in Jan and it’s been a joy to watch.

There are some small cases here and there, but they are very few and far between. In most cases, it’s due to streaming services and bandwidth compression. I will say it’s the best TV I have owned. Perfect black and contrast levels, with bright, vibrant colors. It’s the best picture I have ever seen on a TV.

r/bravia · Sony bravia 8 ii 65" impressions Your review aligns with my 55. Best picture I’ve ever seen, and, yes, sometimes has an uncanny 3D depth quality to it. I don’t have mine connected to the web, only through my Apple TV 4K, so I never see the Google TV UI: I go between HDMI 1 (cable) and 2 (ATV 4K), likewise power up to the last input. I follow RTings suggested Brightness settings, with Brightness at Minimum and Peak Luminance on High, which I drop to Medium typically at night. Sometimes Medium is plenty bright during the daytime, depending on the content. I’m in Professional mode except for when watching sports. This TV is only ever too bright, never not bright enough. It’s so bright that I use Power Saving Low full time, lest I burn my retinas. Sorry for the scratch, I know you’ll never not know it’s there. Enjoy your viewing, you made an excellent choice.

There's the brand new 9ii but it costs significantly more and isn't OLED which can be a downside for some, however it's still an absolutely fantastic T.V. My brother has the 9ii and as much as we both love it we both can't deny that the 8ii is still an absolute monster and will be for years to come. People still swear by the 8s and A95ls and this is basically just a better newer versions of those. This is the best T.V I've ever owned. I'm still amazed everyday when I turned it on, especially by the deep almost 3d like picture it makes. I love it so much. It was worth every single penny and in my personal opinion I'd buy another one over a 9ii as we have it set up as a dark theater experience and not in a super bright room which is where the 9ii really shines. Don't get me wrong though the 8ii is bright as fuck too and brightness has absolutely never been a problem in a brightly lit room, I've never had it full brightness. It's your decision but you absolutely will not be disappointed with an 8ii.

Did they update the generation of panel, scene processing, game mode brightness to the level of the 8ii and speakers while they were at it? Didn't think so. Just be aware opinions aren't facts and what I stated about the differences were facts not opinions. My opinion was it's the best T.V. You saying worse older hardware that's had a firmware update to make it better does not change the facts I stated. The 8iis literally new better hardware and without the updates you mentioned it would have been even more lacking when compared to the newer flagship model that won T.V of the year at multiple events, even if it does have a better out of the box colour calibration. You love your A95L we get it. I'd personally never recommend someone older worse hardware but you do you.

The biggest difference with this tv vs others is just how much better it streams content. Its cleaner and just better. Its one rwason I won't leave sony, nothing matches it on steaming. I love how people like to pick out 1 bad and overlook 10 good. Its just like any other led to gane on. The guy also doesnt even realize that the notion is on automatically which was his issue. You cant even keep it on custom minimum its still on. If the guy would have turned it off he would have seen that issue go away. Its the same thing on my 8ii. Does the exact same thing. He didnt go over the settings at all. He used stock game mode as he says he checks all stock out of the box modes. Well Sony is a film place and they setup the tvs for single player titles for a cinematic feel and look. All he has to do is go through the settings turn all of the additional settings off and boom. Great!

He isnt talking about the a95l. As explained in the video and title from tech with kg, reasons why the 8ii won. Even in the title of the video, king of tvs 2025 8ii A95l was used in 2023 and 2024. 8ii was used in 2025 and 2026. Still got second placed in 2026 somehow even with there messed up panel. Was so dumb of them to use, luckily got first place in 2025. I would never ever choose another tv purely due to just how good this tv is with streaming content. I game mainly on my ps5 pro so it goes great with sony tvs, the look fo game mode is the best ive seen. Then the streaming is the best ive seen and ive owned many of tvs in my time, yes even more modern ones. The 8ii is by far the most balanced, pure and clean image out there still right now tbh. What i really like is it actually changes alot when you use settings unlike other tvs. So you can get any look you want. Also reality creation is amazing to further add sharpness and micr details with texturss. There is no 8i, the only 8 1 would be the regular 8 oled. 8ii is the 8 mark 2.

No other tv comes close to it. Daily i see complaints about LG and samsung flagships with streaming wuality. Sony is the best there or any other way where it needs to clean things up. The processor is more advanced than many newbies even understand or realize. Even some advanced users dont understand it. Focal points, xr cognitive processing. It knows how to pull you in and it knows what it should capture and when to really make you feel in there.

Nothing comes close, yet daily in Samsung and lg forums the streaming content quality complaints are off the charts. Most of us stream content now 90% of the time. Thats where sony shines, its processing algorithms really help there and my panel is so so clean. Cleaner than my a90j which was the cleanest oled back then eve. Wouldnt worry, get you one and enjoy!

It’s a great TV, but it’s standard WOLED and a lot of people would even consider the Bravia 9 miniLED from 2024 that released around the same time the better TV. I would still get the 8 over other similar OLEDs from other brands because of Sony processing. Great TV in its own right, just doesn’t hold a candle to Sony’s QD OLEDs.

The B8 II is unquestionably superior to the A95L, being basically the same TV but with an updated QD-OLED panel and better technology. The only point for the A95L is I’ve read it has a much better factory calibration out of the box because Sony labeled it part of its “master series” while Sony did not do this for the 8 II so it initially may not look as good. Not sure about that though and obviously the A95L has older and inferior technology so it isn’t as good a TV.

I like both but I do feel the OLED provides a slightly more crisp pictures. I notice it more when watching sports via youtubeTV. Overall I would recommend both and it depends on if you have a dark or bright room.

r/4kTV · Samsung S95 vs Sony Bravia 9 65” First thing first Bravia 9 is Mini LED and S95D is QD-OLED. Even though Bravia 9 is considered almost OLED killer, If you watch mostly in dark rooms always OLED is the best choice. Sony does have A95L and this year Bravia 8 II (both QD-OLEDs) which are far better than S95D (calibation out of the box, contrasts, upscaling, consistent HDR gradient and brightness and what not). But considering the price to performance, you can get S95 around 1800€ while Bravia 9 or A95L needs 2500€. At this 1800€ price range Samsung S95D/LG G4 are the best TVs. Tips: To make Samsung look better or like Sony. Calibrate the TV (2 point or 20 point). Buy Apple TV 4K to remove ads and crap remote.

r/bravia · Bravia 8 stand Yeah, I think it's amazing. I've had it for just over a year and I would definitely recommend. However, it is a matter of perspective. I upgraded from a 13 year old 1080p Bravia TV, so it was a massive upgrade. I can imagine it would seem less impressive if I upgraded from a more recent model, so it depends on where you're coming from. Pros are the colours, image processing, motion and gaming input lag. People say it's not a bright TV because it's not as bright as other modern OLEDs, but it's definitely bright enough for me, even for daytime viewing. The only negative I have, which is common for WOLEDs, is that it doesn't clean up macroblocking like QD-OLEDs. If the Bravia 8ii was cheaper at the time, and had narrow feet positioning, I would've gone for that.

Here’s the thing: Don’t rely on YouTube streams (even the 4K ones) to test out video content - it is significantly downscaled. If you’re really that picky about it, keep a local video file for your favourite content in a USB drive and take it to the electronics store so you can plug it in and view it yourself - most of them will let you do that. 8II or 8 both are great. Can’t go wrong with OLED.

On a matte screen, it all just gets washed over, so you may have illusion of it being good quality. This is why watching even say 2000s YouTube content on OLEDs makes it look like the video is from like 80s… and that same video seems fine on a much more substandard tv. Assuming you’re using one of the newer phones these days. Most new phones have the fully glossy display. Imagine having a matte screen - it will significantly alter the vibrance of content, old or new.

Otherwise, you could have the absolutely best display and still see banding coz of either shit internet or. Bravia 8II is overkill in a dark room. Bravia 8 is more than enough for what you’re describing as your preferences. The only benefit is having the II version in your dark room is simply more brightness, which defeats its purpose anyway. Once you start watching content directly via the local 4k disc, you’ll never feel like going back to streaming platforms. The difference in video is night and day, and much more so in the sound.

r/4kTV · Samsung S90 vs LG C5 vs Sony Bravia 8 Are you looking at the Bravia 8 II (QD-OLED) or just the regular Bravia 8 OLED? I would also reach out to LG from their online chat and see if you can't score an extra discount from them. They are pretty well known to give you at least an extra 10% off, especially if you tell them you're looking at other OLEDs. I would lean more Bravia 8 II, as I love Sony and their picture processing. Plus QD-OLED is just WOW. However, if it's not the Bravia 8 II, then I would probably go with the LG G5 since it's brighter and is overall the better TV than the S90F.
r/4kTV · OLED or True RGB They are very similar in performance when it comes to picture processing and how they handle motion. It's one of the reasons why I love Sony. However, it's just not as bright and vibrant as the Bravia 8 II. That's because the XR8B uses a standard WOLED panel vs the QD-OLED found on the Bravia 8 II or Samsung S95F. Personally, if you can't justfiy the price jump to the Bravia 8 II then I would look at the Samsung S95F (or S95H) or S90F. These use QD-OLED panels, so you will still get that vibrant color reproduction, in fact Samsung is even brighter than Sony, the only downside is that you would lose out on that top tier Sony processing.

I just have never been satisfied with any other TV technology as I wander back and forth inside of Best Buy. OLED just looks too pleasing to my eye to not go with it. If my first OLED took that many years to have issues, coupled with the new tech they have now to clean the pixels to prevent that.. I’ll take my changes with another OLED. My first OLED lasted so long before having burn in or “screen retention” issues that I can’t even remember how many years ago I had got the TV at that point. It’s still being used and works fine as it’s not permanent burn in. I have not seen the Bravia 7 II in person yet though, but then again TV settings in stores aren’t going to tell the whole story of how it looks.

O filme era o Nosferatu a IA diz que ele é difícil e pelo que vejo a 8 II tem mais saturação de cores que a S95H o que talvez complica mais... Se é uma cena pontual tudo bem, se é geral é diferente, mas recebi muitos comentários a dizer que ela não tem muito banding.

Eu gosto imenso de ver televisão por isso vou fazer o esforço de a comprar. Acho que faz uma boa escolha, a minha Samsung AU7025 não vale nada, processa muito mal os movimentos e tem uma imagem má. No mês passado fizeram uma atualização que melhorou ambos, mas tive 3 anos a ver televisão e a refilar muito por causa da má qualidade. E agora no Value Electronics King na cena de fogo que eles avaliaram quase parecia se comportar como os os meus dvds antigos com qualidade muito baixa se comportavam nas cenas escuras da minha televisão antiga, que não era 4k. Por isso falei de cenas escuras no post. Eu não quero gastar 2.200€ para ficar pior do que estou com a porcaria da Samsung AU7025 de 399€. Procuro segurança porque a televisão é cara e vai vir só para mim e não vou poder trocar. E vejo Disney Plus no momento, Ficheiros Secretos e Mentes Criminosas a passo de caracol a aguardar a televisão nova 8 II ou S95H, Castle e Scandal para não gastar o Loki e outras que estão há espera da televisão. Vejo muito conteúdo diferenciado, antigo, novo... Já agora a 8 II teve 1.8 nesta categoria e a S95H 4.3 é uma diferença muito grande mas estou a tentar não desistir da 8 II.

I’d say that the Bravia 8ii is more of a refinement of what you’re getting with the regular OLED vs being a revolutionary new experience. The added brightness is certainly noticeable depending on the scene and how far you like to extend brightness for SDR and I’m sure in a direct comparison the color can get more saturated for content that uses it but I’d say the experience is pretty comparable in 90% of instances. So really it really just depends on what you want. Do you want to have the flagship OLED experience from Sony or are you ok with the cheaper standard OLED that doesn’t extend as far for brightness or color but maintains most of the experience?

Because on X900F, when viewing it on an angle, it makes the picture quality look washed out. But its Apple and oranges comparison is more LED vs OLED. But for TV that came out 6 years ago, it still holds up to this day, and you are not missing that much.

The 8ii definitely is bright enough for my space and I had also been considering the 9ii for the extra brightness, but we have some seating pretty off angled so OLED was the best choice. Plus, OLED is still king with picture imo.

All the online research in the world will not help you make a decision as strongly as actually seeing the product and picture quality IRL yourself. I went through this last month, thinking I’d end up with an LG C6 or a Hisense mini RGB, but was absolutely floored by the picture fidelity and color science of Sony. I found myself really liking the Bravia 7 II and the 3 II. I’ve had a mid tier Vizio for 10 years so anything was going to be an upgrade but the value is important to me. I got the Bravia 3 II and have been very happy with my decision so far. Btw the color on the 8 felt off. 8 II looked better, and the A95L looked better as well

It's really shocking what sony did, it got to the point where it's difficult to notice which is lcd and which is oled, that rgb from sony is so good.. Yes, the B8II is excellent, flawless contrast, inky black, that's the advantage of oled, but this rgb is phenomenal.. Otherwise, oled should be the real deal, but, lcd is not dead. What I like about LCD is that there is no fear of banding, burn in, brightness boost is limited, image retention... Lcd s only disadvantage is that it is called LCD, that it does not have inky black and in certain situations a little blooming is visible. But who cares, sony did a masterful job. But, lcd has its flaws and oled has its flaws. This is a TV for all purposes, watching at night and during the day.

Only if the brightness has to be turned up to max. How much does that affect the durability of the panel itself? I've read that it's not good to keep the brightness at max. The other problem is that the B7II and B9II come with a 2-year warranty, so you have to pay extra for an additional 3 years. I think it's around €200-300, while the B8II comes standard with a 5-year warranty (2+3)

The only thing that worries me is the blooming. What impression does it leave when it comes to, say, the universe and the stars, are there any traces of blooming? Some say that the B7II is even better than the Bravia 9 miniled (2024). Although I have to admit that the upscaling is excellent on the xe9005 (x900e) 720p-1080p. The B7II costs €2040 and the B8II costs €2300, but I am concerned about the brightness of the B8II, and I assume that this B7II is significantly brighter.. According to you, can the B7II be compared to an oled tv?

And I agree about the X900E being a great Tv, I want to upgrade but weirdly feel bad about it bc the TV is still kicking but it obviously has some limitations with its age I’m torn between 8ii and one of the new RGBs. I have to stay at 65” and I’m also in a basement with light control. I definitely love brightness as well and I know the 8ii is brighter than the a95L by a good bit. I was pretty dead set on it once it eventually goes back to its Black Friday price but now I’m not sure. Burn in definitely makes me nervous even though I don’t think the way I use it or watch TV would particularly cause it. I also have surrounds sound (Samsung q990D) and I feel like my current TV is a bottleneck in the system being that it’s not even eArc. Open to suggestions or comments that’ll steer me in a direction lol

I wanted an A95L, but they were long gone. I agree that A95L is built better, but the picture on the 8 II is just as good. The panel waviness is a slight annoyance, but doesn’t affect the picture itself. The 8 II seems to have a bit more “pop.” If I had a choice, I’d get the A95L again, but the 8 II is awesome. Both TVs aren’t as bright as LGs, but they’re still very bright, and can still fry your eyes with the right scenes. A lot of people make a big deal about the remote not being backlit, the backlit remote drains batteries incredible fast. I had my A95L for about 18 months and replaced the batteries 4 times.

r/4kTV · Regret 77 inch S95 D Sounds like a settings issue. Also, the LG C or G series is the way to go for oled. Bravia 8 II won king of Oled but it maxes at 65 inches and only has 2 hdmi 2.1 ports. Q symphony is a gimmick at best, get a real sound system instead from a real audio manufacturer. When people talk oled, they are usually referring to the LG C series as the one size fits all for tv greatness. C5 is the 2025 model and C4 is 2024. Giant difference between G4 and G5 tech design if you go that route.

Go to 7:01 mark for Vincent Teoh’s (HDTVTest)’s Bravia 8 II review. He states that in the 4k blu-ray of the Martian, the posterization of the sky is more noticeable than the Panasonic. If posterization and banding is a big issue, I think I read that the B9 II actually handles that problem very well. However I briefly remember that, so I recommend you look more into that if the B9 II is an option for you.

r/bravia · Sony bravia 8 ii 65" impressions For those looking to upgrade to the Bravia 8ii from a Sony 900f/h or any of their LED’s, don’t hesitate it’s not even close and I have a Sony X90L. The LED’s are amazing but they are what they are and off angle the viewing is flat and the blacks do not compare. The newer Bravia 9, 7ii and 9ii are much better with blacks than the normal LED’s but nothing beats pure OLED! The Bravia 8ii is not the brightest oled, but it is damn bright and the colors POP! The biggest advantage of this Sony is the processor, everything looks new, modern, crisp and amazing. For context, I have a 77” LG G4 and to me it’s slightly brighter than my 65” b8ii but the Sony wins with its processing although it’s very close. The LG’s are amazing oled tvs as well and the whites pop off the screen, so both have their pros but that damn processing that Sony does is special.
r/bravia · Sony Bravia 7 II vs Sony Bravia 9 II opinion I actually own the Bravia 8ii in 65” and it’s currently located in the brightest room in our house, the “Great Room”. This room is surrounded by large picturesque palladium style windows and tv is more than bright enough. The TV is very bright with amazing blacks, off center viewing is excellent, and the colors really pop naturally. Sony’s processor combined with this latest QD-oled panel makes the standard and high def images look crisp and upscaled to perfection. The anti glare screen is not going to be better than the RGB Matt screen for reflections but it isn’t far behind. The anti glare is excellent and is on par with our LG. For comparison we also have the LG G4 in the basement entertainment room (no windows), and the Sony in the bright room is just as bright even with all that light.

r/bravia · Sony bravia 8 ii 65" impressions I have the same TV and I bought it when it first launched. I use it with a Sony Theatre Quad sound system. The volume buttons got a lot less responsive with the latest updates. It's really annoying. There is also currently a bug where handshake fails for Dolby Vision content if you're using an external device like Apple TV. I'm overall very happy with picture quality and functionality, but software is not the best. It's still better than LG's webos. If you are comfortable with doing some tinkering with the software, I do recommend a third party launcher like Prrojectivy Launcher. I have a very clean home screen now, with no ads, just a few apps that I use.

I am now thinking of getting the 8 instead of 8 II as the extra $1200 is not making sense to me personally, given that my room is not too bright. Sorry if I sound confused haha, I am not that well versed with the TV space.

r/bravia · Sony Bravia 8 II or just Bravia 8? I was in the shop and compared the Bravia 8 and the Bravia 8II side by side with exactly the same video and very similar settings setup. Despite the £500 price difference between the 65" models, the 8II was absolutely worth the additional money and I had no issues spending it. The only reason to go for the Bravia 8 is if you absolutely need a 77" or if the 8II is out your budget. The newer model is significantly better in every way.

r/bravia · Sony Bravia 8 II or just Bravia 8? Im quite on the contrary to this. I too own a 65 A95L (2 years aprox now), and now also have the 65" B8ii. I have had a 55" B8 briefly for a week or two. And even though the image quality was still amazing, the brightness and HDR impact was a big letdown to me. I was used to my A95L and G3 and coming from that to the B8 was just not enough. I have my G3 at like 55% brightness and my A95L at 35-40 out of 50 for SDR. But with the B8 i just could not get the brightness i wanted. @ OP: it depends how much use you will have with the TV whether its worth it to you. Also, room environment is a big decisive factor. If its a dark room that is light controlled, then you can go either way. But if you lights in the room, then the B8ii would be the only proper choice. The B8ii is superior to the B8 in every way. How much that is worth it to you is all up to you.
r/OLED_Gaming · Should I change my Samsung S95F for a Sony Bravia 7 II if I only game on my TV? Yeah I have the G3, which is basically the G4. It's a great tv. But it can't compete with that QD-OLED of the S95F. How do I know? -> I own a A95L and a B8ii. The B8ii shares the same screen as the S95F and significantly outshines my G3. Same with my A95L > G3. I am not a "brand fanboy" of any TV brand as you can see. But hey! You do you and please go and buy that 7ii. Don't come back yelling that you can notice blur during gaming though. You don't want to listen, so please stay away.

At best buy the had the 8 and 8 ii side by side playing the same demo and the 8 ii clearly had better brightness and colors. The 8 still looked great though.

In fact HDMI in general is botched- the tv can no longer display Dolby Vision content via Apple TV as well. Some HDMI handoff issue most likely, Sony customer support has been “escalating” to different tech teams for a month already.

The B8ii is a brighter panel, yes, but if you do your diligence and even research the Bravia threads, you will see the reason that the A95L is called a Master Series and has a more accurate picture. FYI, they just updated the A95L from Android 12 to 14, along with other new features. But if you think the B8ii is better, that’s your perfectly fine opinion. It’s just not an accurate truth, even according to the numerous VPs of consumer electronics I’ve spoken with at Sony.

r/bravia · Sony Bravia 7 II vs Sony Bravia 9 II opinion The next shootout is next month. If you can hold off until then and wait for those opinions then that would help your decision. But I will tell you I have seen them both and I own 3 Oled tvs and I am selling 2 of mine to get a 9ii. The color from what the videos I have seen is up to 4 times more over an 8ii. The anti glare actually doesn’t hurt the contrast IMO. That was my biggest worry but after seeing it, it’s now not a worry for me. The extreme off angle is the only thing that drops a bit than an Oled but the advantages of everything else outweighs that for me. So the 9ii is my next tv. You know it will only get better as more software updates happen lets be honest you can’t make the 8ii get any brighter or more colorful. It’s at its peak in store. So keep that mind when you compare. Obviously that’s not the setting I watch in but I know the 9ii has the horsepower to go beyond and Oled on color. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately Sony doesn't have stock anymore of the A95L but multiple retailers have great pricing and clearing out remaining stock of A95L. I'm in the midst of thinking about selling the 8 II and just replacing with another A95L if Sony can't do anything (move from OLED to mini LED - would like to stick with master series range)

Only reason I didn’t get it over the regular 8 is because it was out of my budget. Anyone telling you the 8 ii isn’t worth it is delusional. The 9 ii is even more expensive than the 8 ii. It is a much better tv than the 8 ii. Price doesn’t mean everything, go and decide for yourself which one you like more

Please please only judge real world content. Sonys processing algorithm isnt there to impress youtubers comparing YouTube videos or to show stress tests. It will always be at its best in real world content, streaming and things that truly take advantage of its processing algorithms. Also one thing you must keep on mind its bright, its so bright at times it can lead you to see a halo when in reality bright oled tvs now do this. I can see it on my 8ii when seeing white on black its due to hoe our eyes see light. Sometimes the blooming you think is there isnt and its just the way our eyes percieve said brightness spreading. Overtime you will notice something. Test it again in 2 weeks you may be surprised at how different it looks to you.
