Well I mean the 7ii and 9ii will be good at gaming but not oled like the oled or qd oled when it comes to the gaming side. The response time alone and or per pixel level control is next level. So its like 0.03 to 0.05 response time with 7 to 8ms input lag. But I won't lie the 7ii input lag aint bad at all for an led tv. At 4k 120 its 8 to 10ms but its response time is is around 5 to 10ms. Tbh its better than expected. It will game good and the image will look amazing.

I love how people like to pick out 1 bad and overlook 10 good. Its just like any other led to gane on. The guy also doesnt even realize that the notion is on automatically which was his issue. You cant even keep it on custom minimum its still on. If the guy would have turned it off he would have seen that issue go away. Its the same thing on my 8ii. Does the exact same thing. He didnt go over the settings at all. He used stock game mode as he says he checks all stock out of the box modes. Well Sony is a film place and they setup the tvs for single player titles for a cinematic feel and look. All he has to do is go through the settings turn all of the additional settings off and boom. Great!

If you don't care about that, that's fine, but then why bother using gaming mode in the first place? The whole point of gaming mode is to have minimal post-processing and reduce latency.

Only bought the 85 one because of the wrong pricing. I have the money but I still would have a bad feeling paying 5k for it. The other side is, there is no real option for me if I don't go Oled. The blacks are black just like an oled I had to turn the brightness down. It was too bright. Pictures are extremely clear. The scaling that it only does is amazing. Everything looks 4K. It’s not worth the extra money for the bigger size the 85 inch “ + $2500 over the 7ii

OLED still has better contrast with true blacks but RGBLED is very close, is much brighter and doesn’t have the burn in issue. The ultimate TV is still a laser projector. Now set up the B9ii, this works! Still I suggest some kind of curtains or plissees to dimm the windows a little. Just be aware the B9ii has a smaller viewing angle, blooming becomes visible sooner from the side.

There's the brand new 9ii but it costs significantly more and isn't OLED which can be a downside for some, however it's still an absolutely fantastic T.V. My brother has the 9ii and as much as we both love it we both can't deny that the 8ii is still an absolute monster and will be for years to come. People still swear by the 8s and A95ls and this is basically just a better newer versions of those. This is the best T.V I've ever owned. I'm still amazed everyday when I turned it on, especially by the deep almost 3d like picture it makes. I love it so much. It was worth every single penny and in my personal opinion I'd buy another one over a 9ii as we have it set up as a dark theater experience and not in a super bright room which is where the 9ii really shines. Don't get me wrong though the 8ii is bright as fuck too and brightness has absolutely never been a problem in a brightly lit room, I've never had it full brightness. It's your decision but you absolutely will not be disappointed with an 8ii.

The 8ii definitely is bright enough for my space and I had also been considering the 9ii for the extra brightness, but we have some seating pretty off angled so OLED was the best choice. Plus, OLED is still king with picture imo.

I watch 4K blu-ray discs, streaming shows, movies, games, and normal content. The issue is that when I notice blooming, color bleed, smearing, or weird local dimming behavior in real content, a torture test helps confirm what I’m seeing and why it’s happening. Ignoring torture tests because they’re inconvenient doesn’t make the problem go away. It just makes it easier to pretend the issues don't exist. Lastly, because this was my first 5-6 hours with the TV and trying to check everything.

Hell, it's worse than the X95K was by a significant margin (and that TV was released around 2022). These new RGB LED TVs are basically unusable for gaming. The backlights are so incredibly slow that they cause significant smearing, color cross-talk, and other various artifacts.

r/bravia · Sony Bravia 7 II vs Sony Bravia 9 II opinion Was debating the same thing and I ended up getting a 85” Bravia 7 II - would’ve loved the 9 II specifically for the reflection handling but for 85 inch it’s $4k vs $6500 (62.5% increase) which seemed too steep. Been very happy with the TV - I am upgrading from a 65” Bravia 7. I’m still playing around with settings but animated movies with lots of color look incredible, and the blacks/blooming is considerably better. The screen is very reflective just like the original 7, not a huge problem for us (our living room windows face east so it’s dark in the evenings). I compared to the Bravia 9 in store before purchasing and did think the colors looked better and the blooming comparable. Store didn’t have the 9 ii yet when I looked. I also have a non-Sony soundbar so the audio difference didn’t matter for me. I did see mention that the Bravia 9 II screen is very tough to clean, so might be a factor if you have little kids

It’s not a matter of single player versus multiplayer, it’s just that when games are running at higher frames per second, the TV’s inherent motion issues are reduced. This is the case with any tv. Higher fps = better motion. Whether you’ll be affected depends on your eyes, what games your playing, the system you’re playing on, etc. Plenty of reviews that hardly notice anything. Several anecdotes from experienced gamers suggest the motion is disappointing when compared to OLED or even some other LEDs. It’s not a deal breaker for me but if you’re seeking the ultimate gaming tv I’m not sure I’d recommend the B9ii in its current state. I will say for movies the experience has been phenomenal unless you sit off angle.

The picture is brilliant and the input lag is dialed in where it needs to be for casual gaming. However, if all you want is gaming.. I think your money could be spent better elsewhere on a good OLED. The B9ii, and consequently the B7ii, have slower pixel response time than OLED by a good margin. This means 24fps motion in movies looks amazingly smooth, but it also means all games have motion blur during movement. And with these RGB sets specifically, there is a bit of color smearing on fast movement for 60fps games and lower. You may notice it or may not, but it’s a flaw that OLED absolutely do not have. I’m hoping it gets fixed by firmware, and it’s possible given that the TVs are brand new, but I would question why anyone would buy these TVs for gaming **only**. If you’re buying the tv to mainly watch movies and tv shows and do a little gaming on the side, then yeah this tv is awesome.

I have a feeling you might be disappointed in the motion blur of the B9ii compared to your current tv. Even the B9 had considerably slow pixel response time, which leads to the motion blur. I think it’s acceptable but the color smearing is what makes this tv more challenging to recommend for gamers specifically.

At the time I needed a replacement for my Samsung 75" q9fn and the x95k was the best I could find in Mexico. Anyway, I was nervous at the time about the blooming comments and YouTube torture tests , etc. as well as the gaming performance. I've been extremely happy with my x95k despite those YouTubers and tests, because as someone else in this thread mentioned, real life use is so different from torture tests and YouTube test patterns. I don't notice any of the cons most of the time when I'm watching content. It was such an upgrade from the q9fn (especially motion processing ) that the pros far outweighed the cons. So hearing your thoughts about the picture quality being phenomenal compared to the x95k is great to me since I already find the x95k more than good enough. My concern about the cons you listed are pretty close to zero.

It's really shocking what sony did, it got to the point where it's difficult to notice which is lcd and which is oled, that rgb from sony is so good.. Yes, the B8II is excellent, flawless contrast, inky black, that's the advantage of oled, but this rgb is phenomenal.. Otherwise, oled should be the real deal, but, lcd is not dead. What I like about LCD is that there is no fear of banding, burn in, brightness boost is limited, image retention... Lcd s only disadvantage is that it is called LCD, that it does not have inky black and in certain situations a little blooming is visible. But who cares, sony did a masterful job. But, lcd has its flaws and oled has its flaws. This is a TV for all purposes, watching at night and during the day.

Only if the brightness has to be turned up to max. How much does that affect the durability of the panel itself? I've read that it's not good to keep the brightness at max. The other problem is that the B7II and B9II come with a 2-year warranty, so you have to pay extra for an additional 3 years. I think it's around €200-300, while the B8II comes standard with a 5-year warranty (2+3)

Also I forgot to mention the context. I’m only viewing in dark room for serious watching, so no bright room conditions for me which gives the QD oled the quality advantage on the B9s, and viewing distances can be adjusted between 7-7.5 feet flexibility. And then the difference in size is just between 77 of higher quality to 85 of lower quality. That’s basically the dilemma.

I'm more or less set on the Bravia 9 ii, but I'd consider either the Samsung s95h, s90h (maybe), or r95h because they offer a government employee discount. My living room has a lot of natural light with windows that shine directly on the TV and ceiling lights, so I want something that actually counteracts glare.

That said I’ve seen the BRAVIA 9II side bi side with the LG and Samsung and it was not even close. What they could do in blacks looked impressive, but you could tell they were just crushing black level detail that the Sony resolved perfectly. When they started getting bright is where the OLEDs just fell apart in color saturation and the Sony pulled far ahead. As others have mentioned…go 85!

In HDR content, everything pops extremely well and the colors are some of the best out there that you’ll find on a TV. Definitely go see it in person and also look at the G6 and the Samsung s95H. The only other TV I would have purchased is the Samsung, because it has the best colors, but the issue I have with it is the full screen brightness and also the frame around it looks hideous. Design wise, I loved how the G6 looks, and it can maintain better brightness than the Samsung in full screen but the colors are not as nice to my eye.

r/bravia · Sony bravia 8 ii 65" impressions For those looking to upgrade to the Bravia 8ii from a Sony 900f/h or any of their LED’s, don’t hesitate it’s not even close and I have a Sony X90L. The LED’s are amazing but they are what they are and off angle the viewing is flat and the blacks do not compare. The newer Bravia 9, 7ii and 9ii are much better with blacks than the normal LED’s but nothing beats pure OLED! The Bravia 8ii is not the brightest oled, but it is damn bright and the colors POP! The biggest advantage of this Sony is the processor, everything looks new, modern, crisp and amazing. For context, I have a 77” LG G4 and to me it’s slightly brighter than my 65” b8ii but the Sony wins with its processing although it’s very close. The LG’s are amazing oled tvs as well and the whites pop off the screen, so both have their pros but that damn processing that Sony does is special.
r/bravia · Sony Bravia 7 II vs Sony Bravia 9 II opinion I actually own the Bravia 8ii in 65” and it’s currently located in the brightest room in our house, the “Great Room”. This room is surrounded by large picturesque palladium style windows and tv is more than bright enough. The TV is very bright with amazing blacks, off center viewing is excellent, and the colors really pop naturally. Sony’s processor combined with this latest QD-oled panel makes the standard and high def images look crisp and upscaled to perfection. The anti glare screen is not going to be better than the RGB Matt screen for reflections but it isn’t far behind. The anti glare is excellent and is on par with our LG. For comparison we also have the LG G4 in the basement entertainment room (no windows), and the Sony in the bright room is just as bright even with all that light.

B9 II is probably the way to go in your situation, it doesn't seem to have the horizontal streaking reflections all Sony TV's with X-wide has had since it was introduced. B9 II is considered to have an amazingly good anti-reflection as well, probably the best Sony has ever put out, but it tends to produce a more matte looking finish. All this said. Your room is the worst situation you can get for any TV and the side widows may cause regular B9 to produce horizontal reflections from strong light sources far out to the sides. If you could put some curtains on the windows behind you then the B9 would probably be fine as it can get quite bright to overcome a bright rooms better than most OLED ever could. As for reflections in dark scenes, there wouldn't be too much difference in an OLED vs miniLED, IF you are using professional settings as both will reproduce the scene the same way due to how HDR uses absolute light units with the intention to look the same on any TV as long as it can reproduce the same light output that's encoded in the material. But you could push the brightness and gamma up a bit and maybe even use Vivid mode to combat that, ASC may help a bit as well, regardless a dark scene will always struggle in a bright room and no display can help you with that unless they have some near magic anti-reflection coating. My simple advice is to at least do some level of light control in the room. I'm not saying to go caveman but reducing the light from the window behind you, why not try with curtains that can cut the light in half or so during the day when drawn closed, that would help with any TV and reflections.

Not sure where you are coming from but I have a G5 and an S95F and the latter wins hands down especially on PC titles. It also reaches 4000 nits modded (same as 9ii) although the 9ii will have better gamut coverage. It seems that you won't calibrate your TVs anyway, so TCL X11L may also be a good choice if you value brightness more than color accuracy. I have sent you the suggested settings for S95F privately (since the modder does not want it to be shared publicly), but if you are dead set to use the RGB LEDs I think you can't go wrong with 7ii or 9ii. With the 7ii the brightness (which is the main advantage of LED) is even lower than stock S95F though.

My point is the B9ii has room to grow where OLED or even Qd-oled has hit a peak for now. Each tv has its strengths and weakness. There is no perfect tv. Just perfect for what I want or the setting I am in. Too each their own. I almost bought the B9 last year but knew this was coming from all the online chatter so I waited. Future proofing is a seller for me and this tv should get even better with updates. Glad I waited.

But I will tell you I have seen them both and I own 3 Oled tvs and I am selling 2 of mine to get a 9ii. The color from what the videos I have seen is up to 4 times more over an 8ii. The anti glare actually doesn’t hurt the contrast IMO. That was my biggest worry but after seeing it, it’s now not a worry for me. The extreme off angle is the only thing that drops a bit than an Oled but the advantages of everything else outweighs that for me. So the 9ii is my next tv. You know it will only get better as more software updates happen lets be honest you can’t make the 8ii get any brighter or more colorful. It’s at its peak in store. So keep that mind when you compare. Obviously that’s not the setting I watch in but I know the 9ii has the horsepower to go beyond and Oled on color. Hope this helps.

If you do get the B9ii, you will probably want to dial down the basic color setting and advanced color settings a tad, as well as the gamma (when appropriate with your source). Also currently these models are overpriced they will be much cheaper soon. If you are in a rush you can also look at B9 which should be more reasonably priced. Also an excellent tv. A final note, dont expect your tv to last 10 years thats not the case anymore

Forget bravia 9 ii, if you really want a lcd get bravia 9, it's cheaper, same VA, same processing, except rgb bullsh*t. S95H competes with G6, C6 competes with S90H. This year in Europe the midrange 77 and 83C6H uses 4 stack wrgb tandem panel and 77S90H uses qd-oled panel.

Only reason I didn’t get it over the regular 8 is because it was out of my budget. Anyone telling you the 8 ii isn’t worth it is delusional. The 9 ii is even more expensive than the 8 ii. It is a much better tv than the 8 ii. Price doesn’t mean everything, go and decide for yourself which one you like more

Please please only judge real world content. Sonys processing algorithm isnt there to impress youtubers comparing YouTube videos or to show stress tests. It will always be at its best in real world content, streaming and things that truly take advantage of its processing algorithms. Also one thing you must keep on mind its bright, its so bright at times it can lead you to see a halo when in reality bright oled tvs now do this. I can see it on my 8ii when seeing white on black its due to hoe our eyes see light. Sometimes the blooming you think is there isnt and its just the way our eyes percieve said brightness spreading. Overtime you will notice something. Test it again in 2 weeks you may be surprised at how different it looks to you.
Yes correct but that matte screen isnt just for reflections. It also seems to heop the percieved light bleed and allows the blacks to stay deeper. Thing is none matte screens automatically seem darker. So it kind of balances itself out lol. The 9ii has an upgrade in xr processing. The backlight masterdrive is different. The processing on the 9ii wss a bit surprising with fine drtails and depth overall for an led tv. Regardless the bravia 9 has been underatted since launch. Still a fantastic tv ans if you catch a deal for sure go with it. Also the bravia 9 can hit 4k nits but they can it at 3200 nits so there are times the 9ii is slightly brighter.
