TCL C8K

TCL C8K, packshot

« Apart from that not much to say, brighter, better contrast/dimming, less halo/bloom and better audio. »

« Save the 500$ imo, QM8K comes with way better speakers (no rush to buy soundbar) and better OS with no risk for burn-in and the build quality feels sturdy and premium. »

0 1

« It is better in any way, just has some quirks in combination with a PC which hopefully gets ironed out with updates. »

« Just go for the C8L, its better than C8K, and upscaling should be better »

« Never mind if I spend a little more, but at least I'll have better quality. »

« Also it was almost half price of the C8K. »

« The TCL C8K is the safer buy if you dislike serviced or open-box items, but the price gap is small enough that the C9K looks more interesting. »

4 3

« Also if you shift a foot too far away you lose contrast and brightness but not with the g5. »

« But...viewing angles have color shifting if I stand at 35 to 45 degrees and it's noticeable cokng from OLED. »

« Extremely bright tv compared to oleds but viewing angles not that great compared to oled. »

    r/tcltvs · My first Mini LED TV 85" QM8K/C8K

Recently got a 98 C8K (also in Oz), fantastic bit of kit. Was a mission to get into my apartment but managed in the end. Going from a 77 C2 OLED I was a little worried but any reduction in PQ was easily outweighed by the immersion from the size. Will consider an OLED again if the 98" model drops to around $10k locally.

r/tcltvs · Review on the quality ofTcl 98"C8k

i just enabled "natural cinema" (new motion clarity preset with the latest ota firmware for the c8k - namely v604) and it delivers even better results for me. and that without being soap-opera-ly and without introducing noticable ghosting. so yeah, i'm quite happy with that. :) note: i haven't watched netflix in a long time. that's why my tv wasn't particularly tuned for that type of content.

    r/tcltvs · TCL C7K, 98'' vs TCL C8K, 98''

size of the tv and viewing distance comes down to your preferences. i like it rather immersive. :) but yeah, a 83" OLED is visually definintely the best option - with LEDs coming closer each year (right now mini led until micro led becomes a thing). i think you'll be happy with either one of the tvs. so enjoy whatever brand/model you get and don't let reddit tell you otherwise. ;)

    r/tcltvs · TCL C7K, 98'' vs TCL C8K, 98''

pixel density is a none issue i would say. i got the 98C8K and from 1m away the pixels start to blend in and after 2m i can't see the pixel pattern anymore. i'm sitting 3m away and i think the image is glorious as long as the source material is good. so native 4K with good bitrate is just wow. lower resolution can be compensated with good upscaling. low bitrate is bad and stays bad. as for your question regarding C7K vs C8K and the 700 bucks difference in price: if you're mostly watching sports/news the C7K is a great TV. if you're often watching movies/series then it depends on the content. dark scenes with bright hilights tend to bloom on the C7K. also white subtitles on black background don't look as defined as on the C8K. but for 700 bucks less then the C8K this may be worth a compromise. my opinion: i'm rather spending more now than regretting on cheaping out. (but after all it comes down to price-performance and your own financial Situation.)

MQLED80K is from 2023. It has fewer dimming zones, does not get as bright and does not have the new WHVA panel. C8K is from 2025. despite the big/obvious differences mentioned above this newer TV has a new chip with all the goodies which come with it - and also a longer remaining support peroid. sooooo.. i'd go with the C8K. or the C7K which is not far off picture-wise but normally way cheaper. if you don't go for the bigger sizes (85 and 98 inch) you could also take a look at the C6K. in direct comparison it's clearly inferior but you may not care because you don't have that direct comparison at home - and the C6K will most likely be an upgrade from any previous/older TV you come from.

    r/tcltvs · Should I buy tcl c8k or wait?

If your current TV is from around 2021 and the price is already good, i’d probably buy the TCL C8K rather than wait for first-wave RGB tech. I have waited for next-gen panels before, and the first year usually brings high prices, limited sizes, and a lot of review uncertainty. The better question is whether the TCL C8K already fixes what bothers you now: brightness, contrast, HDR impact, and gaming features. If it does, $1667 AUD sounds like a practical upgrade window. If your current TV is still fine and you mostly want future-proofing, then waiting makes sense, but I would not wait just because something newer exists on paper.

    r/tcltvs · Buying 65” C8K vs C9K in 2026

For those prices, i’d probably take the [TCL C9K](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=TCL%2BC9K%2B65%2Binch%2BTV) if the 24-month warranty is real and the return policy is normal. I have been in this exact used-vs-new TV decision before, and warranty plus return window matters more than the box being opened. The [TCL C8K](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=TCL%2BC8K%2B65%2Binch%2BTV) is the safer buy if you dislike serviced or open-box items, but the price gap is small enough that the C9K looks more interesting. The [TCL C7K 75 inch](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=TCL%2BC7K%2B75%2Binch%2BTV) only wins if your seating distance makes 65 feel too small, because size changes the experience more than tiny spec differences. For a normal living room distance, C9K first, C8K second, 75 C7K only for size priority.

    r/tcltvs · Tcl 75 c8k or tcl 85 q6c at 3.5m distance?

At 3.5m, the 85 inch size is genuinely tempting, but coming from an LG C1 makes picture quality more important than usual. I’ve made a similar jump from OLED to LCD, and the things I noticed most were contrast, blooming, and motion, not just screen size. [TCL C8K](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=TCL%2BC8K%2B75%2Binch%2BTV) is the better pick if you care about HDR impact and a cleaner image, even at 75 inches. [TCL Q6C](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=TCL%2BQ6C%2B85%2Binch%2BTV) makes sense if immersion is the only priority, but I’d personally take the higher-tier panel because the downgrade from OLED will already be noticeable.

    r/tcltvs · TCL C7K, 98'' vs TCL C8K, 98''

For your use, I would decide around viewing distance first, tbh, because 98 inches can be incredible when the couch is far enough back but unforgiving if you sit close. The [TCL C8K 98 inch TV](https://featherab.com/shopit?TCL+C8K+98+inch+TV) only makes sense over the [TCL C7K 98 inch TV](https://featherab.com/shopit?TCL+C7K+98+inch+TV) if the extra dimming, brightness, and processing are visibly better in your market. I would choose the [LG C5 OLED 83 inch TV](https://featherab.com/shopit?LG+C5+OLED+83+inch+TV) if contrast and pixel response matter more than immersion. When I compared sizes, the bigger screen won for movies, but only after matching the seating distance properly. Pixel density is less scary from normal couch distance than it sounds.

Films & séries75 pouces et plusSalon lumineux
    r/tcltvs · TCL C8K (QM8K) or Samsung S90f (QD OLED)?

For that room, I would probably lean [TCL C8K](https://featherab.com/shopit?TCL+C8K) unless movie watching at night is clearly the main thing, honestly. I went through a similar OLED versus mini LED choice, and the bright window plus sports use matters more day to day than the showroom black levels. The [Samsung S90F](https://featherab.com/shopit?Samsung+S90F) will likely look cleaner in dark-room movies and have that OLED contrast, but reflections, panel care, and daytime punch are the tradeoffs. The TCL makes more sense if TV channels, sports, and mixed family use are the norm. I would only pay the extra for Samsung if you are comfortable with OLED handling and mostly watch controlled lighting content.

yeah I enjoy it immersive too. Which is why it's hard to decide. More size = more immersive, but OLED is also more "immersive" because of the colors and black levels. So the question is really on compromises, whether miniLED + size is a better compromise compared to less size but OLED 😃

Films & séries75 pouces et plusPièce sombre
    r/tcltvs · TCL C7K, 98'' vs TCL C8K, 98''

That's why i'm eyeing the c8k. Even that doesn't have that many dimming zones (near 4000\~) so I know there may still be bloom but it must be better than c7k. That said, 3m is pretty close but I can always move my couch closer or further back. This is a living room TV after all. That's why the 83" LG OLED is also an option if it's worth downsizing for the picture quality and all benefits of OLED. The mini leds seem to be able to get brighter though.

I'm on 85c8k and I think that depending on your own preference and expectations you'd either be satisfied with c7k or be desatisfied with both of them and be looking at oleds. The most important difference between c8k and c7k is the number of the dimming zones at the same size, not the brightness IMO. If there's a reason why you want more zones but can't go OLED the c8k can be a better choice, but that use case is quite narrow.

r/tcltvs · For those who say the TCL C8k can't touch OLED Blacks. Step inside...

Very much agree. I am coming from a LG CX and I just gotten my 75 inch C8K delivered and mounted. Replaced my LG CX 65inch OLED. Looking at the tv straight on, to me it's more vibrant, brighter than my LG CX. Blacks are like OLED as well.... But...viewing angles have color shifting if I stand at 35 to 45 degrees and it's noticeable cokng from OLED. If u sit straight on, to me it's gorgeous and a no brainer to get qd mini led. But for those buying bigger tvs, I am sure you might be viewing them from the side if u have a larger sofa or something...so the viewing angles might be a bummer. Esp if you host a large number of friends over and watch movies..the ones sitting at the side for sure have color shifts. It's my first day of having the C8K, and I have been watching OLED for years already. If you watch tv alone and always sit straight on facing the tv, don't waste money buying OLED, qd mini led is way more than enough. Even brighter and contrasty.:)

    r/tcltvs · A very interesting comparison of the TCL C8K(QM8K) & Sony BRAVIA 5

They all might've looked amazing but the point is that the bravia 5 was the closest to the professional studio calibrated monitor. This reference monitor is supposed to display what the creator intended for the audience to see, so seeing that the bravia 5 is so close to that is quite impressive especially in the dark scenes test where the c8k not only didn't have color reproduction similar to the reference monitor but also had muted details in the dark

When I was considering which model to buy: - c7k is generally good in person, but I saw some blooming Vs lg C5 even in store environment - c8k looked very good, practically no visible blooming (but it still will lack in scenes like star field or you will see some clouding In very dark scenes with a lot of lighter details). Also Vs lg C5 the colour volume was lacking a little bit. - c9k has noticeable better colour volume (I did not see noticeable differences Vs C5) has +80% of dimming zones compared to c8k but still you can see some clouding in very dark scenes with lighter detailed sections.

Happens for many on screen menus. Youtube, netflix and even the internal google menu. For example restart screen. Thankfully content itself is working nicely. Hopefully tcl can fix it with software. Interesting is that when using nvidia shield with color profile YUV 422 12-bit Rec.2020 then the issue is almost gone. But i am not sure that there is a way to change color profile for internal apps, at least for consumer.

    r/tcltvs · TCL 85" C8K (2025) vs C855 (2024)

Yeah I got the C855 in 65" last week, and I'm very happy with it. A slight, but not substantial upgrade over the C935 I used before. Especially appreciate how quick it starts, image quality is slightly improved, brightness especially. Also it was almost half price of the C8K.

    r/tcltvs · Buying 65” C8K vs C9K in 2026

I’ve seen C7K, C8K and C8K side by side and generally found C8K as an optimum choice. Significant upgrade over C7K in terms od brightness and specular details, plus better viewing angles. Barely any improvement on C9K unless for a very bright viewing environment.

r/4kTV · The age old oled Vs led What TV do I buy!

77 inches are the common size for OLEDs. 75 more so with Mini LEDs. The problem is that your budget is generally for 55 inch flagship TVs to 65 inch midrange models. I wouldn’t get a refurbished OLED under any circumstances as it isn’t really worth it. On paper a Panasonic Z95B would’ve been perfect for you as it supports all the formats and is good for bright rooms. The problem is that it’s hard to find these days and the 77 inch models would’ve been out of your price range anyway. The Samsung QN90F is usually the best bet for gamers that want a bright room mini LED thanks to its anti glare screen, but you aren’t a Samsung fan due your Dolby Vision requirement and because you are not focused on gaming. I think unless you plan on saving some money and being patient, you would be better off going for a 65 inch Mini LED or a 65 inch LG G5 (Flagship LG Model) on a good discount maybe on Black Friday. 65 inch TCL C8K and the 65 inch Sony Bravia 7 (MK1 not 2) are the only two mini LEDs I can think of that you can afford that may suit you and not seem like a complete downgrade vs your LG C4.

Had the same, dead pixels on C8K, got full refund, had to battle hard and smart. Bouggt a Bravia 8 65inch after. What I should have bought the first time. Ill never venture from Sony/Samsung again for my main tv. Got a nice philips 50put8800 ambiliggt for the bedroom recently aswell, great bedroom set. Ambilight is great for the bedroom.

r/4kTV · Which TV should we buy? C7k, C7l, or something else??

C7L isn’t a big upgrade over the C7K, so getting the C7K at clearance pricing will be better bang for buck. The C8K is better than both, a bit more premium and polished. It’s not a dramatic difference though so depends on the price difference.

    r/tcltvs · TCL QM8k (C8K) at €900 or LG C5 at €1400?

I would say the LG C5, but based on your own use case scenario, I'll say the C8K (or QM8K here in North America) might make a little more sense this time around. As much as I love OLED, I don't think OLED will make your use case scenario that much better, thus probably not worth the extra 500 euros.

Only issues with tcl is slower os and have to fuck around a bit for sports, c2 just kinda works C8k looks bright as fuck and still gets dark as an oled so fuck man, unless youre computering the c8k is kinda sick

r/4kTV · Sony Bravia 5 vs TCL C7K vs TCL C7L? Which is best for ps5 gaming, usb playback and picture quality?

TCL will be much better for gaming. For starters definitely brighter with HGIG. Swapped from a Sony X930e to a C8K and the difference is staggering for gaming (X.930e is a 1700 nits TV). Im an avid PS5 gamer as well. TCL is 144 Hz panel vs Bravia 5 120Hz may come in handy when upgrading to a PS6. In game mode alot of the processing is disabled so your TV behaves more like a monitor to reduce input latency. So you can almost discount any advantages however small Sony may have in picture processing and this is often biased by peoples belief systems. PS5 will do FSR so TVs upscaling rarely matters for gaming. TCL do a great job on the gaming front much better than Sony's current Bravia range which is ironic given they own Playstation. Having a 2 year technology TV refresh cycle does not help their cause.

Bought the 65C8K purely for gaming and I'm absolutely amazed I didn't move my 65C4 to the bedroom sooner ! Purely for gaming it blows my LG oled out of the water by a huge margin ! Not only the blacks are as black as my oled is but the brightness is absolutely insane, making HDR gaming next level ! Current playing crimson desert on PC and HDR on this game is insane ! Really really glad I pulled the trigger on this TV, which I got at a bargain price of £950 here in the UK. On the downside has a tiny bit of uneven panel but that that's only when looking for it with tedt patterns. Aside from that my LG 65C4 feels like a cheap TV compared to it !

I have the exact same question as you OP In Spain. Basically the same usage conditions. Thinking of purchasing the 75 C7K for €€999 The 75C8K was on sale for €1299 last week and I should be able to get it again at that price soon. I know the C8K has double the dimming zones that the C7K (which may be more noticeable esp at 75” But the one thing putting me off is the reports of sports looking terrible. If I know sports will look good I’d prob go for the 75”C7K as that In my preferred price range ~€1000 Although if the 75”C8K was the only way to go for decent sports viewing id probably consider it. But atm im put off by uncertainty reg motion handling with sports. I think movies etc are going to be ok. Hope you find a solution.

I already own an LG 65 CX. And I wanted to upgrade to the 98 for the cinematic effect. But I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with the quality of compressed content. That's why I wanted an objective opinion on that kind of content. I know my eyes have gotten used to OLED, but I like the natural look of mini LED (it makes me look like I'm watching cartoons).

This is the correct course of action. You need a high end model like the C8 or C9K if you are watching in a dark room. The other models don't have enough local dimming zones and are likely to display blooming or washout. OLED would have been your best choice, however, this is the next best thing, enjoy.

    r/tcltvs · C8K worth 60% premium over C7K?

I'm afraid OLEDs will have some issues with my windows having sunlight on them directly, as I don't really want to have curtains closed most of the daytime. And that's exactly why I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger on the C8K cause the reviews really praise the Dimming zones on it. So I'm torn if I should just pay the premium to get the better quality now, or the C7K would be just enough. Like I said I don't have any exposure to good quality TVs currently (aside from seeing a bunch in-store) coming from a pretty bad 32" edge lit old Samsung, so maybe the C7K would be enough for me?

I've heard it has more of a cooler tone while the movie preset does not, it is more warm with yellowish tone if I'm not mistaken...

The European U8Q is equal to the US model except for the OS, so its definitely better than the U75QG. A reputable site called Choose TV (ex members from HDTV Polska) rated the U8Q higher than the TCL C8K and C9K [https://www.choose.tv/us/tv/reviews/hisense/hisense-u8q\_AGB](https://www.choose.tv/us/tv/reviews/hisense/hisense-u8q_AGB) They do in-picture contrast and brightness measurements and the U8Q appears to be one of the best LCDs behind the Sony Bravia 9.

I dont know if you knew but the C8K is actually the successor to the C855. It is better in any way, just has some quirks in combination with a PC which hopefully gets ironed out with updates. Apart from that not much to say, brighter, better contrast/dimming, less halo/bloom and better audio.

Just uploaded a video of it, look at the lamps in the back - [https://youtu.be/544c6EMrKhY](https://youtu.be/544c6EMrKhY) Did you find anything to reduce it a bit? r/tcltvs · Black smearing on TCL C855, is there any fix?

I know know..it sucks. Its a specific to VA panels but it's even worse in TCL. Apart from lowering refresh rates, no, you could however stay at 120hz because at 144hz it increases overdrive which makes it even worse. But other than that not really a solution. You could lower the gamma or increase black levels but ok jt sucks, the image. One more thing is to put local dimming to low or off, this will decrease process latency but still, you lose image quality.
