They're about the same in nominal dollar terms, but inflation has made that effectively cheaper than it was five years ago and OLEDs get more aggressive discounts today than they did 5+ years ago. Secondly the modern comp of the C1 isn't really the C6, it's the B5 or B6 which are far cheaper even in nominal dollar terms and are still objectively better TVs than a C1. If you were happy with your C1 you could have saved a ton of money by purchasing a B5 or B6 instead.

r/4kTV · best gaming tv with reliable HDR that won’t lag on PC? Just picked up an LG B5 OLED. There is basically no noticable input lag in it's game mode setting, and the HDR is amazing. Perfect gaming TV. Only bump up to a C5/6 or G5/6 if you plan on playing games on the surface of the sun, I find the B5 plenty bright for a room that isnt also a greenhouse. Also, it's 120hz, the more expensive versions will do 144hz, but even my 4090 can't really render modern games reliably beyond 120fps on Max settings and 4k, even with some help with DLSS. For me personally, 120hz is plenty, especially on an OLED with its less than 1 millisecond pixel response time, seems faster/smoother than my 240hz IPS monitors.

As far as the resolution goes, when you get your new display: give 4k a whirl and see if your 5080 with framegen doesn't surprise you. If you use full screen, you'll see blank, black spaces on all sides of the game while gaming in 1440p on a 2160p display: displaying at 2160. If you set the resolution on Windows to 1440p, and play in full screen at 1440p: you will have a full screen. Alternatively: you can use full screen windowed mode for your game and you would just see your desktop or whatever is open behind the game if you're displaying in Windows at 2160p but game is displaying at 1440p. I hope any of that helped. I have an LG c5 55, and B5 48. Love my b5 for desktop use and gaming in 4k at 120hz. The c6 I believe is 165hz 4k. Best of luck on your oled journey.

Honestly, I'd buy it, but I don't think I can convince my wife, lol. She already jokes that we should keep how much we're planning to spend on the TV a secret. We can afford it without any real issue, but spending that much on a TV still feels excessive to her. It's more of a mindset thing than a financial one. But if you think the B5 is a bit overpriced, you’re making me second-guess it now.

Yeah it's entirely possible to get an OLED for a similar price to the C7K, but for *larger sizes* beyond 65", it tends to be cheaper to go miniLED, hence my note on it earlier. Burn-in isn't much of a concern anymore on OLEDs, there's a lot of technology to prevent it from occuring, and some higher end models also have heat sinks which helps. I would steer clear of OLED if you regularly watch news broadcasts or sports with static elements, or if its in a bright room with heavy sunlight (degradation can occur faster with sunlight). Since you got a new PC, I'm assuming its for gaming, so I would lean towards an LG B5 at around the C7L's budget. Alternatively, if it's available, the Panasonic Z85A can be found inexpensively. If you'd prefer QD-OLED, the S85F is decent, make sure it isn't the s84f because its just a worse B5, not QD-OLED. If you weren't looking at OLED but want something like the C7L, the Hisense UR7S is cheaper and overall similar, if not better.

r/LGOLED · Should I buy this or save up for a G4/G in December? The B series is the base/entry level model for LG OLEDs. The C series is the midrange and the G series is the flagship. There's also the M series and now they brought back the W series to replace the M series with. Those two are basically the exact same as the G series (so still their flagship OLED), but they're only meant to be wall mounted and come with an external box that houses all of the hdmi, ethernet, optical, usb... etc ports for the TV, along with the processor and all that stuff in order to allow the TV itself to be as thin as possible to be able to sit as thin as possible against your wall. The "W" actually stands for "Wallpaper" in this case, due to the intent of the TV's design. As for the distinction in terms of performance, the B series is very dim in comparison. Talking specifically about the B5, since that's the generation you seem to be looking at here, it doesn't even reach 1000 nits. Just in case you aren't aware, nits is a measurement of brightness, and the industry standard for measuring how bright a TV can get is on a 10% window. So, 10% of the entire surface of the TV panel itself. 1000 nits on this standard is typically the bare minimum requirement to be able to produce an effective HDR image, as every piece of content that is mastered in HDR is mastered at a minimum of 1000 nits. Some are mastered at 4000 nits. Some at 10,000 nits. So, I would not reccomend the B5 if you watch HDR content or if your room has lights on. The C5 gets you a lot more brightness than the B5. The C5 gets nicely above 1000 nits, typically between 1200-1500 nits, and it also has better processing than the B5, as well as a slightly faster panel (144hz). The B5 has a 120hz panel. The G5 is the flagship, so it stands head and shoulders above both of them. Now usually I'd say the flagship is not worth it over the C series unless you have the money to spare, but in this generation, it's the rare case that it's actually worth it and it actually lived up to the hype it generated. The G5 is the first time LG has addressed taking on qd-oleds for color, and while they still haven't quite gotten there just yet, the G5 had closed the gap so much that you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference unless you had them side by side playing the same demo content pushing colors beyond the limits of the TVs themselves. So, for reference, the G5 can reach a staggering 2500 nits (likely even higher now since the last big update actually raised the brightness in almost all the modes quite significantly). It's color volume also far, far exceeds the C5, so colors will look far deeper and much more pure on the G5 in instances where they push beyond the C5's capabilities. The brightness also helps to push those colors to be significantly more vibrant than the C5 is capable of, even when the color volume of the content itself doesn't push beyond the C5's capabilities, when the brightness of those colors goes beyond the brightness of the C5, the C5 will be forced tk shift those colors towards white in order to hit the brightness levels being called for, whereas the G5 will still have a comfortable amount of room until it needs to shift towards white. So, the G5 not only can display significantly more colors than the C5, but it can also display significantly more vibrant and deep colors than the C5. So, my conclusion is this: if you can save for it, get the G5. BUT, don't just look at the G5. I actually would like you to take a look at the C6H of the new generation. This is the C series, but specifically the 77-inch and 83-inch sizes, as this year is the first year LG is putting the G series panel on the C series (again exclusively on the 77-inch and 83-inch sizes only). So, the C6H (the "H" is the designation for the models that have the G series panel on it), has the G6's panel, of which is a more refined version of the G5. Slightly better color volume, better brightness, and more importantly, the newer processor, of which basically eliminates any color banding and posterization issues, of which the G5 still has in some specific scenes. Now, the C6H won't be as bright as the G6, obviously, but it should be a very good chunk of the majority of the G5's brightness. My guess is at least 2000 nits on the C6H. So, if you can save up for at least the 77-inch C6H, then I highly urge you to do that, as that specific oled is, imo, going to be the absolute best oled for the price for this year and likely for the next couple of years. The 77-inch C6H, for reference, shouldn't cost much more than a 77-inch G5. And it could potentially cost less once discounts start to hit it throughout the year. But, if a 77-inch is not the size you're looking for, and you want to go smaller, then absolutely just save for the G5. I'd say G6, but it would be quite a bit more expensive. But, if it is something you could save for then yea, the G6 will be even better, and you'd get a more refined panel and much better processing than the G5. One last thing to note here is that the sizes below 55 inches do not use the same panels. This goes for both the C series and the G series. The sizes below 55 inches are significantly less bright and less colorful than the larger sizes. The C series actually gets less bright than the B series at the smaller sizes. That's how much you lose going less than 55 inches. The same applies for the monstrous 97 inch size of the G series. Although, that's obviously not in the budget anyway, as it's 25k, lol. It's also obviously not worth anywhere near that amount even if you had that kind of money. So, yea, stay away from the B series unless you dont watch much hdr and mainly watch it in a completely dark room. The C series is fantastic, but, I only recommend it to anyone who doesn't watch a ton of hdr content and/doesn't have the money for the G series. I also will be reccomending the C6H over the g series to basically everyone now, as i believe it to be the current best deal oled on the new market. Lastly, the G4 is basically just a slightly brighter C5. It is not worth it anymore. Only look at the G5 or G6 if you can save for those. C5 if you want to budget yourself more. And C6H if you are looking for a 77-inch or 83-inch size and want the best picture quality without having to spend G6 prices. Sorry for the long response, but I hope this helps.

The C5 blew the B5 out of the water in terms of image processing and picture quality. The motion handling was better too. So I can imagine for you going from B5 to a C6 was night and day. You say SDR looks good on it? Have you tried the AI HDR Remaster feature?

I had to keep jiggling the HDMI cords to get the ps5 to work until that finally stopped working. Also, just upgraded to ps5 about 4 months ago. Anyway, I have the wall space for a larger tv and started shopping around. Best Buy has right now an LG 77" OLED B5 (2025) for $1399(originally $2999). Holy shit!!!! I didnt realize what I was missing. Currently playing Ghost of Yotei and Cyberpunk 2077 and the difference in quality is INSANE! If you cant go 77" i saw Walmart has the LG 65" OLED C series for under $1200. Honestly cant give this tv high enough praise!!

Being said, look into a 2025 LG B5 or a B4 if you can find one in stock somewhere. Brighter, 2.1, 120hz and good gaming features. It gets plenty bright for most rooms and content mastered to 1k Nits, almost identical to the equivalent C series with the great majority of content. Costco is the place to buy and they often have sales near the end of the model year.

Its much higher brightness and superior color volume will make things look significantly more intense and immersive, with colors staying vivid even at high brightness.

r/4kTV · Oled vs mini led bright room Have the TCl qm8k in my bright sunroom that replaced a 7-8 year old TCL 6 series. Lots of direct sun and I don’t have shades to darken room and the qm8k handles it well. There are some reflections but it’s hardly noticeable since the screen is so bright and most importantly, the picture doesn’t washout, unlike with my older 6 series which actually is quite a bit brighter than your LG B5. I’ve an older C7 that is hard to watch with the drapes open thats comparable to the B5. The qm7k will be about 3x times as bright is your B5, the qm8k about 5x. Neither have the nice inky blacks of your oled so if that’s important, the LG G6 would be better.

r/4kTV · OLED's are often suggested for movie purists, but is the pan skipping/jitter as bad as people say? I was very anti-OLED when I first made the jump from LED to OLED and even returned an S90D. I got use to stutter while watching content on my OLED monitor where it now doesn't bother me. I bought an LG B5 and don't even use any motion smoothing at all. 4K blu-rays look amazing. Well worth it and you're eyes can get use to it. If not, return the TV lol.

Have a b5 for a few days in a slightly lit up bedroom, even with one window across it in the bedroom its a NO use tv until evening, its worse than my 7 year old tcl led it replaced, cant see anything but window light reflection and myself at 100 % brightness. And its not even direct sunlight, this is with blinds down all the way (not blackout blinds) After 8pm its a beauty from another world. I am not gonna trust C5 for this too, i just think these glossy oled panels to be any good in any light. But by good they are beautiful at night I am gonna get me some blackout curtains and see how it does, im sure it would be great otherwise its going back and im back to mini led again

r/LGOLED · Used LG OLED C4 or CX? I’d pass on the CX altogether. Not a cheap enough price to take a chance on a screen that old. The C4 is a modest deal. I’d still definitely prefer a new B5 for about $100 more, but if money’s tight, the soundbar is of interest to you and you can verify the condition of the panel, you could do a lot worse.

r/LGOLED · Used LG OLED C4 or CX? Yeah I was planning to get a 48’ B5 but It came out to $640+ with tax, and with the person selling the 55’ C4 for $550 that is fairly new, I thought it would be a really great deal. Also I haven’t seen anyone complain about their C4 breaking down as well.

r/4kTV · Best budget ($500-$700) Gaming/Movies TV Aside from OLED being really good at contrast, it naturally has REALLY fast pixel response times so you naturally get little motion blur compared to an IPS or VA panel driving those same framerates (unless it's using some kind of black frame insertion trick but that has restrictions and hurts some people's eyes).

r/Hisense · Hisense 65" U7 Mini-LED TV Review: Premium Gaming & Bright Rooms After doing a lot of research, I bought one in January. My son broke it in May. I did more research and bought another U7. I just don't see anything better in its price range. The LG B5 is enticing, but I have a lot of windows and really appreciate the brightness of the H7. My primary use case is PS5 Pro gaming.

r/LGOLED · LG B5 vs. B6E vs. C4 The B5 has the highest color volume of all 3 TVs but the least bright. The B6E is the brightest but the C4 would have better colors than the B6E. The C4 has diagonal dithering which can be an issue if you're close to the screen.

Depends if you want raw brightness with the TCL Miniled or perfect blacks and contrast with the LG OLED Personally I’d go with the B5 and just close curtains / turn off lights if brightness was an issue.
Just get an LG B5 if you don’t need much brightness and want to save a bit of money while still getting an OLED
