r/OLED_Gaming · Samsung S95h VS LG oled G6: how much better is the S95 for gaming exactly? No it’s not. I had the G5 and and zhe s95f side by side at home. I also Analyse games with a reshade HDR Analyser and the instances where you really profit from the BT2020 gamut are very, very rare. 98 percent of games dont even use BT 2020 and even if yes, a few percent at best. What’s way more common is that you have lights and colors which have a bit of white in them (like the sun) and there the G5/6 is brighter by quite a bit. Apart from that the G5 had more clarity and definition and depth to the image to me, I think because of the glossy coating. I would buy a G5/6 any time again over the matte Samsungs, especially since they even have the immersion breaking frame now.

HDR standard can go up to 10,000 nits and no it won’t blind you, it will only improve real scene contrast. In real life if you look at a reflective metal glint reflected by sunlight it can be beyond 10,000 nits already. If you ever go outside during the day it is like hundred thousands of nits. The only thing that can blind you is directly looking at the sunlight which is a billion nits (literally). If you put a 4000 nits highlight capable screen with a dim true black 400 monitor side by side, you can immediately tell that the hdr on the monitor looks completely fake and unrealistic. In a vacuum though the latter is fine especially if you have never seen what a 4000 nits or even 2000 nits highlight looks like.

Best tv I’ve ever had for sure. I don’t know why people don’t like the matte screen. It has no impact on the image other than preventing reflections. I think some people just assume glossy screens are better because I can’t imaging preferring reflections otherwise.

The S90F is a good alternative, but at that size you won’t get the patented QD-OLED tech, instead you get a WOLED panel. You need to go 65 inches to get that and at that point a premium 55 inch S95F may cost the same. There are better OLEDs like the Sony A95L, Samsung S95F, LG G5 and Panasonic Z95B, but these are flagship TVs that will cost more however. C5 is the best bang for your buck I would say.

So ghosting is definitely an issue. You would get better contrast and depth on a higher tier mini led anyway. OLED imo is best for gaming however. I’d go with a Sony Bravia 9(flagship), Samsung QN90f (midrange) or TCL C7K (budget) depending on what you can afford if you really want a mini led for gaming. I prefer OLEDs and think burn in is overblown. Rtings I believe have shown that OLEDs are more durable than they are given credit for. I would go for an LG C5 if you want a midrange OLED for gaming. A Samsung S95F for a flagship (what I have in my living room).

r/4kTV · which tv should i buy I own a Samsung S95F and a Sony A95L. Both are QDOLEDs. I would say Sony is better for movies due to its image processing with fewer artefacts in fast scenes and colour accuracy. It is good for sports. It’s good for sports as well. Samsung is better for gaming due to its refresh rate and lower input lag. It’s brighter and has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. It’s also good for sports. Samsung is suited to bright rooms due to its anti glare tech and brightness. The Sony will be better off in a light controlled room. It comes down to your budget however, as these were flagship TVs. If you want a mini led- Samsung QN90F is a decent midrange option. Sony Bravia 9 and the mark 2 Bravia 9 are way better, but come at a premium price. I would opt for last year’s Samsung S95F (S95H has a weird frame around it) or 77 inch Sony A95L if you can afford the OLED. I would maybe go for a Sony Bravia 9 or a Samsung QN90F if you want a mini LED. OLEDs have better contrast, colours, no blooming (a halo effect caused by light bleeding into the surrounding pixels) and viewing angles. Mini LEDs tend to be brighter however and are more durable for heavy usage (I believe OLEDs have been proven to last longer on regular usage as Rtings have shown backlight failure on a LED tv is more likely to happen sooner than OLED burn in). Mid range- 1. Samsung S90F (65 inches means you get the patented Samsung tech instead of a WOLED due to their panel lottery). 2. Sony Bravia 7 Mini LED 3. Samsung QN90F 4. Sony Bravia 8 Premium: 1. Samsung S95F 2. Sony A95L 3. Sony Bravia 9. I preferred the A95L over the Bravia 8 MK 2 as well. The Sony Bravia 9 Mk 2 just came out and isn’t worth the price tag imo. Go for Samsung if you want vibrant colours, brightness and favour gaming more than watching movies. Go for a Sony TV if you care about image processing, colour accuracy and movies more. Both handle sports well in my experience.

Bravia 7 is better for movies, but its ability to handle direct reflections aren’t as good imo.

S90D has HDR10 which isn’t as widely used. S90D offers up to 144HZ natively which makes it a better option for PC gaming. C5 is at 120HZ which is still solid for console gaming and has Dolby Vision gaming for Xbox too. Both have 4 HDMI 2.1 Ports and low input lag. It’s important to note the S90D has a bit of a panel lottery depending on where you are from and which size you get. Some are QD-OLEDs (Samsung’s specialty) and some are WOLED (you are better off with a LG WOLED). I tend to prefer the flagship Samsung’s over LGs (Samsung S95F>LG G5), but I think the LG C5 is a better midrange option than the S90 series. I think the S90F was a solid upgrade over the its predecessor the S90D due to its improved upscaling and brightness, but it still is worse for movies imo than the LG C5. So the midrange Samsung imo is slightly better for gaming, but in terms of movies the LG C5 clears it.

The Samsung S90F can work too and since you are going for the 65 inch model; there wont be any panel lottery. Mini LEDs for bright rooms would include the Samsung QN90D/F, TCL C8K/QM8K and Sony Bravia 9. Avoid the Bravia 7 though as whilst it’s a very good Mini LED, its reflections are horrible and its viewing angles aren’t the best for the living room imo. I’ve got a Samsung S95F in my living room that’s bright and it’s great for gaming especially. Movies are solid too, but I prefer my Sony A95L in my room for that.

The flagships like the Bravia 8 MK2 and Samsung S95F, LG G5 and Panasonic Z95B might be out of your price range. If you can find a rare Sony A95L new though that would be ideal (my uncle managed to snag a 55 inch model boxed and new in store for a little over a £1100/$1474), but the 55 inch size is discontinued in general (only 77 inch remains online).

The biggest advantage of QD-OLED isn't color gamut coverage; it’s the fact that the combined brightness of the RGB primaries equals the peak white brightness. In contrast, the combined RGB brightness of the G6 is only 1,200 nits, representing just 35% of its peak white brightness. This is why QD-OLED models consistently take the top spots for "Best Gaming TV" and "Best Gaming Monitor" on Rtings. Color gamut coverage isn't the main factor—since most games still target the Rec. 709 standard—but rather the RGB brightness capabilities of QD-OLED.

I have basically an lg g4 in monitor form as well (pg34wcdm) but its coated not glossy, and I also really like it for daytime use. I dont get glare even in the black parts of scenes during the day which is cool. But some people really hate these coatings! i heard the new Samsung coatings are pretty nice though

I still don’t see where you bought the s95f, in order to actually have them in a real viewing room and able to determine the screen is grainy. Those that own them, NEVER say they are grading. Most will say the contrast takes a small hit and that is when viewing very dark scenes usually in a well lit area. For those who watch in a well lit area, they typically don’t mind going up just a bit of contrast for the no reflections.

I have the s95f in a room that has more light than the G5 and get no glare without having to black out the room, thought I don''t watch a lot of TV during the day. My son prefers gaming on the Samsungs over the LG. With that having been said, I would buy the G5 again, as it is a really good TV also. I usually tell people to buy whichever is on sale and you will still be happy. The people that complain about either tend to be people whol treat their TVs as though they are professional viewers and not normal watchers. I don't run all the panel test you read about on here. If can't see any problems when watching the TV normally, then there is a problem for me.

r/4kTV · Samsung s95 or the C5? Is there much difference I assume you mean S95F? That is a higher Tier than the C5. While many in the industry feel the C5 is the value king for what you get for the money, the S95F is the "better" set. LG just announced the C6 and they are bringing some of their highest Tier features down to the C6 and I believe this will be the value king again.

I ran into this same size debate with a desk display, and 55 inches sounds fun until normal desktop use, HUD scanning, and mouse work start feeling like you are sitting in row one. The [Samsung S95F 55 inch QD-OLED](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=Samsung+S95F+55+inch+QD-OLED) should have punchier color and HDR, but that advantage matters less if the size makes you constantly turn your head. In a dark room for PC gaming, the 42 inch C5 is the cleaner main monitor choice, while the 55 inch S95F makes more sense as a couch TV.

One thing I don't like about the G5 is the WebOS... I hate it but I don't know if there's much difference in samsungs Tizen, best option for me is google tv which Sony uses but sony prices are extremely high..

Plus if your room is as bright as we are lead to believe, I feel you would be much happier with the extra brightness from a MiniLED.

However, it's just not as bright and vibrant as the Bravia 8 II. That's because the XR8B uses a standard WOLED panel vs the QD-OLED found on the Bravia 8 II or Samsung S95F. Personally, if you can't justfiy the price jump to the Bravia 8 II then I would look at the Samsung S95F (or S95H) or S90F. These use QD-OLED panels, so you will still get that vibrant color reproduction, in fact Samsung is even brighter than Sony, the only downside is that you would lose out on that top tier Sony processing.

Then again the purists seem to tightly control all the lighting in the room so asto make it nearly as dark as a cave. My family enjoys the sunshine and having the tv on, for us, the matte screen is just what we need! As for motion and rudder, we haven't noticed any problems. We watch basketball and baseball and the image is smooth. We have an 85" screen and the motion is smooth. Same with bluray movies: smooth. I considered the s95f, however sunlight hits our screen in the morning, so oled was off the table.

I bought a Samsung qn90f due to its ant-reflective panel. My tv is on the west wall in a room with floor to ceiling windows on the south wall, 16' ceiling. The room is flooded with light and the qn90f panel swallowed the reflections. I suggest you visit BestBuy or a local retailer and look at the sets in person to see how they handle reflections. The s95f and s95h and s90h have a matte screen similar to the qn90f. Some other new models (e.g. Sony Bravoa 7ii and 9ii) also have new anti-reflective screens. Give them a view. In a bright room, reflections on the screen can have a big impact on your viewing experience.

There must either be something wrong with your TV or eyes. There is no chance that the G4 (still an amazing tv), your monitor, or the C9 is a better tv than that Samsung. I own a S95B and a 49" DQHD QD-OLED MSI monitor hooked up to my 5080 PC. That monitor is amazing. But that S95B is still better. Gets brighter. And that is Samsung their 1st Gen QD-OLED tv. Let alone a 4th Gen tv. If you think switching over to a miniLED from an OLED, you're going to have a hard time. It's worse for gaming. You will also be capped at 4k120 and not 4k165.

The s90f is on par with my LG C5. Yes I have a lot of TVs split between two homes. Left out the Hisense U7 in the office, which is good enough for the office but wouldn’t use for main viewing, though I do like the Google OS.

Netflix and Amazon was watchable during sunlight in the room. G5 has great picture in dark room, better menu and better built quality than Samsung and that's about it. I couldn't stand watching Netflix during the day, dark scenes was so much annoying squeezing my eyes to see past the mirror. Gaming was also good in dark room but the motion was worse, when playing Ps5 games at 30 FPS it was like there where 2 frames at the same time where as in s95f this effect was way way less, pc gaming above 100 fps was great on both in dark room, maybe the mate coating helps mitigate that double image effect, what ever it is it's a lot better on s95f at low fps. Both tvs great but Samsung is better between those 2, especially in gaming.

To start with, the C5 is a mid-range segment TV, and its Samsung competitor is the S90F. The S95F is Samsung's flagship OLED and competes with the G5. So I guess the S95F surpasses the C5 in everything from SDR and HDR brightness to the color saturation of its QD OLED panel. If you found them for the same price, you should definitely buy the S95F. As for the differences between QD OLED and WOLED panels, the main thing is that QD OLED has a brighter and wider color palette than WOLED. Under some conditions, in a very bright environment, black levels might slightly lift on a QD OLED compared to a WOLED, although I've never noticed this myself despite having huge windows in my house and very bright indoor lighting. Also note that the C5 has a glossy screen, while the S95F has a matte one, which I personally think is fantastic.

r/LGOLED · LG G6/C6 vs Samsung S95H I own a 55" S95F I use as a PC monitor and a 77" G6 I just got for an amazing price. They're both very good. Extremely bright and punchy. No visible banding. It doesn't get mentioned enough but the anti reflective properties make a huge difference. My office with my PC is pretty bright but no direct light sources on the TV. I love the matte coating there. It barely impacts black levels but it absolutely eliminates annoying reflections vs my old 48" CX OLED. I don't watch movies on my PC so the lack of DV didn't matter to me. The G6 is in the basement with a lot less ambient light. But still a huge improvement on reflections vs my old 2016 B6 OLED. Banding issues are gone, dirty screen effect is gone. Macro blocking gone. Movies look fantastic whether they're Dolby Vision or HDR. To be honest, the peak brightness the movie was calibrated for and the bitrate of the content have way more impact. Dolby vision is just more ubiquitous than HDR10+. I'm happy with my choices and wouldn't change anything.

But you are right wil the evolution of brightness, i have always wondered why oled monitors stay so dim when oled TV can get multiple times brighter. I have a 500nit VA monitor fullscreen brightness, and that for me was the absolute minimum usable during the day. I cannot accept 250-300nit oled brightness, that is just not enough, too dim even if highlight can go up to 1000. I always wanted an oled that can do 500nits fullscreen and 2000 nits highlights, but after what you said having 1000nits fullscreen with 4000nit highlights would be even better. I recently got myself a 4K tandem oled with true black 500 certification, so it can get up to 500 nits fullscreen if the content it is displaying isnt too bright. That is finally usable for me and i am able to keep this oled. I wish it had more but this is what i have to work with. I was thinking about buying oled tv and using it as a monitor, but all TVs are massive at 42" or more which is too much for me (pixel density is important to me), they are expensive and mainly they only have 144Hz which is just not enough for 5070Ti with multiframe generation, it really needs 240Hz minimum. So i am happy now but it could be better, i wonder when oled monitors get to 500nits fullscreen brightness with 2000 nit highlights, and then when i see 1000 nits fullscreen with 4000 nits highlights, you would think it shouldnt take more than couple years but it will probably take a decade or more. Will we ever see 10,000 nit oleds for a full HDR specification support? who knows, oled will probably get replaced by another displaying technology by then.

Hgig can't be used with game genre original, which is why i'll probably get tge z95b or wait for the g6 to iron out it's shortcomings. Everything in standard mode behaves completely differently compared to original. It's not factory calibrated, which is why it has a huge red push in bt.2020. With other brands, you don't even need to worry about such a thing as color space. Samsungs software is just dogwater, despite the amazing tech.

r/bravia · Any owners of the Sony Bravia 7 II can tell me how good is the TV for gaming? I had a Samsung S95F which I don't like how it handles SDR and how aggressive the ABL is on the unit. When it gets hot in SDR it's like 200nits in Full Screen. I also am tired of its bugs - for example it has a brightness bug that hasn't been patched yet since release that dims your screen at startup and you need to fiddle with the settings to regain Brightness. I would buy a LG G6 for its Tandem technology but I already have a G4 in my room so if I would use the remote I would accidentally turn them On / Off etc. Also the G6 doesn't have a stand so I also would need to buy that separately. I would consider Panasonic Z95B but the unit is not available anymore here and the Sony 8 II has the same panel as the S95F.

I own a RTX5090 and tested Kingdom Come with RTX HDR, Dark Souls 3 with RTX HDR, Cyberpunk with native, Ass Creed Valhalla with native, BF6 with native etc. Maybe the S95B even if it’s older has a less aggressive ABL than the S95F which has like 300nits full screen when it needs to cool off. Not sure where you are coming from but I have a G5 and an S95F and the latter wins hands down especially on PC titles. It also reaches 4000 nits modded (same as 9ii) although the 9ii will have better gamut coverage. It seems that you won't calibrate your TVs anyway, so TCL X11L may also be a good choice if you value brightness more than color accuracy. I have sent you the suggested settings for S95F privately (since the modder does not want it to be shared publicly), but if you are dead set to use the RGB LEDs I think you can't go wrong with 7ii or 9ii. With the 7ii the brightness (which is the main advantage of LED) is even lower than stock S95F though.

r/4kTV · Regret 77 inch S95 D Strange. Similarily, I just went from a 65" Viera VT30 to a 77" S95F but the difference is night and day. Not surprising, since the VT30 dates all the way back to 2011. It's obsolete technology. Brightness, contrast, black level, color, resolution, VRR, reflection handling, motion and refresh rate, power consumption, weight, thick bezels... I can't think of a single reason I'd go back to the VT30, except maybe 3D support for the few 3D Blu Rays I have gathering dust on the shelf.

r/OLED_Gaming · Should I change my Samsung S95F for a Sony Bravia 7 II if I only game on my TV? S95F has a monster of a panel, don’t know how you are finding the G4 or even the PG32UCDM even close. That monitor can’t use anywhere near the power either TV can and as such lacks in highlights unless they are a 1.5% window. S95F does 2200 peak on a 10% window, you must have the settings wrong but by all means judging by your attitude in this thread go for the 7 ii. Going from an OLED to an LCD for gaming is an interesting choice to say the least

Because it’s a Woled that gets insanely bright, the white subpixel causes low luminance anomalies such as heavy chrominance overshoot an to mitigate that, the dithering algorithm has been cranked to full blast causing heavy grain and fuzziness as a side effect.

r/4kTV · Picking a S90F over S95F even though S95 is cheaper- Mistake? S90F would be my choice tbh if I was stuck between the 2 BUT you are in Europe so make sure you're getting a QD-OLED panel otherwise avoid. I would not personally buy the S95F because of the ugly matte coating (Some people like it) and one connect shitbox.

S90F: If you get a QD-OLED panel, it’s a good TV as far as PQ goes. AFAIK, it lacks the matte screen of S95F. It all boils down to what panel are you getting for sure. Good thing is it is easier to figure out. S95F: Great TV for reflection handling. However, the OneConnect Box can be a PITA. In a light controlled room, I will take G5 over the S95F. S95F did well in the TV shootout. But if you look at Vincent’s other videos with QD-OLEDs, he disables the ASBL settings from service menu for Samsung and LG TVs in shootouts. Samsung tends to have more aggressive ASBL than its competitors. Also their reputation in terms having good QA/QC isn’t that stellar. They aren’t as bad as Hisense. But issues are there.
