r/AirPurifiers · Has anyone purchased and tested the IQ Air Atem Earth? Well I'm glad IQAir's trying to source more sustainable materials, so kudos to that! That being said, the purifier is very expensive for the air cleaning performance. You will need to run it at the highest airflow speed/setting. IQAir is usually publishes Sound Power Levels, but for the Atem Earth only Sound *Pressure* Levels are listed. Chances are the unit will be pretty loud. I assume you have a dehumidifier to lower relative humidity (RH). Because of bad allergies, you probably want Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) that are equal to square footage: 387 CFM. The [Levoit EverestAir-P](https://levoit.com/products/everestair-p-smart-air-purifier) is very good value for money. Smoke CADR is 354 CFM. It has a 2 year warranty; I'm unsure about reliability especially compared to IQAir and Coway's premium units. There are larger + heavier purifiers with wheels if that mitigates the weight concern. I'd have a look at the [Coway Airmega ProX, currently on sale in White from Coway](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-prox?variant=45657065718014). The ProX has a 5 year warranty and is quiet and highly energy efficient for the CADRs.

(Coway, Winix, Blueair, Shark, Sans, etc) Because your ceilings are higher than 8 ft., we need to calculate by volume first and then divide by 8 for the "adjusted" purifier coverage rating. The bedroom has an adjusted purifier coverage rating of 437.5 sq. ft. Minimum CADRs would be 292 CFM. Not sure how big your living room is, as you didn't list its dimensions. Let's just say it's 450 sq. ft. with a 10 ft. ceiling. Adjusted purifier coverage rating is 562.5 sq. ft. Minimum CADRs needed are 375 CFM. I normally recommend Coway. The bigger units ([Coway Airmega 400](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-400) and [Coway Airmega ProX](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-prox)) are currently not on sale directly from Coway. And I definitely *don't* recommend buying either model at full price. r/AirPurifiers · Should I not get a Levoit? Sorry to hear this. Why are you replacing your filters more often? Do you have high particulate pollution levels (PM10 or PM2.5)? Like many common purifier brands & models, the [Levoit EverestAir](https://levoit.com/products/everestair-p-smart-air-purifier) has very little activated carbon by weight for gases, vapors, or odors (includes VOCs). It's designed for particulates capture instead. If source control or ventilation can't mitigate gases/vapors/odors, you generally need niche heavyweight sorbent media purifiers. Sorbent media in air purification = activated carbon, activated alumina, or synthetic zeolites.

r/AirPurifiers · Need suggestions for a air purifier If it was me, I think id put something like a RIA Breezeguard, which is my favorite unit. Or perhaps one of the bigger Levoit units. Corsi Rosenthal boxes as I mentioned are also an excellent way to get max CFM power...for little cost..especially if you would be involving smoke as then...there isn't any expensive circuitry to worry about. You can just easily replace a 30 dollar box fan. I also really like my Alen 45i, however its good for odor/smoke + moves the air more slowly than other purifiers. As the slower speed...helps give more time for the carbon to absorb odors. (The Austin Airs are even closer, but better at that with even bigger/better carbon filters.) So as you still need a lot of CFM for your main unit..something like a big Levoit would be a fine choice, as they are powerful, and have some carbon in thier filters too. Winnix is another good brand, and they have ionization I believe. Thats a reason I like the RIA as it has ionization, lots of carbon in filter, smart controls and even a remote control...(important for me as I have mobility issues.) So for Winnix I think they might have the ionization be toggleable on/off...as thats a must if you havent used it before, just to be careful if it bothers your respiratory tract for some reason. But in general ionization is good, as it helps clean the air, and only creates a small amount of ozone. So a small amount shouldn't be a problem for most people, and is a healthy/safe amount. But Hepa CFM power is the #1 thing that will actually trap the particulates. (Ionization helps particles bind together, so they then fall to the floor. This means that the air you breathe is cleaner. Such as sortof how the air is fresh and clean after a rain storm.) But if you aren't sure about ionization Levoits are great and I have 2 Levoit Core 300's running near continuously...for 5+6 years now. (The Core 300 is a medium sized unit and only 90 dollars, so out performs 200 dollar units, and excellent value, also great for a bedroom for instance to add more coverage.) As for good coverage you want more than the minimum, esp with allergies. Most CADR ratings I think are based on 1 air change per hour. But its best to have 4x air changes per hour (every 15 mins.) This way...you are never breathing "stale" dirty air. So corsi rosenthals in various rooms can help, and affordable Levoit units...an adding coverage. But a Levoit Core 600...should be like the 300s...just bigger + better, and with more features. 299 with 391 CFM, while thier best is the Everest Air which has 354 CFM but is 499...as it also has a lot of smart features, voice control, and air quality monitor with 3 level of PM stuff. So given 500 budget I would consider the Everest Air. But if you are getting a ventilator too, then maybe the Core 600 which is slightly more CFM power...but without the air quality monitor, and lack of voice commands. (and 200 cheaper) Ria Breezeguard is I think between those in price at 390 range. And if you find a Winnix at a sweet spot thats a good idea too. So depends what features are important to you...and what you might be pairing it with. and again...every CR Box is like 400 CFM so more powerful on high than any 200,300, even 500 dollar air purifer in many cases. So some combination...will probably get you the desired solution.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit Vital 200S vs Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Hi I'm fairly new at any deep research/dive with air purifiers but we got a couple winix purifiers a few years ago to replace basic older units, then very recently researched a bit more and invested a bit more. I now have two Costco winix purifiers, a coway airmega 400 and a levoit everestair. We originally brought the everestair on a whim because it was on sale locally for $299 and I wish I had gotten 2 at the time, I use it in our 160sq bedroom running usually at speed 2 or 3 always. It goes dark entirely when the lights go off which is nice , its the most sensitive/reactive to changes in the home on the readings or if it is in auto it's the first time ramp up with any change - like when we are cooking or such - and it moves a lot of air but also imo has the easiest to fade out noise of any purifiers we have ever had which is why it's now our bedroom purifier. (We have also tried alen, a couple other coway units, had germ guardian and Honeywell in past. I will however be shocked if we get a year out of the filter .I'm expecting to replace it sooner but I think that could be the case with many filters.

Problem is, the CADR written in the marketing material for an air purifier is typically on the maximum "jet engine" setting. So for comfortable use 24/7, you want a purifier that achieves that CADR value *at a reasonable volume*. HouseFresh has good data on quiet (<45 dB) cleaning. The EverestAir on 2 and the AirFanta at 6.54 volts have [about the same CADR power at the same noise level](/r/HouseFresh/comments/1gvmgur/what_are_the_best_performing_quiet_air_purifiers/). The thing I don't like about EverestAir (besides the price) is that it has a glued on carbon filter, which means when it starts to smell in a few months you have to change the entire filter. The AirFanta is available without bonded carbon. I would avoid the Vital 200S (too small), but otherwise any of the filters you listed should be powerful enough to clean that space.

My recommendation is if you are ok spending the money on an iqair unit, to look at other options since you have multiple rooms. What I see right now is the levoit EverestAir on clearance for $299 from Bestbuy. It is an excellent choice with a high 350 CFM CADR. (I just got 2 more at this price) a “comparable” unit is the levoit core 600s-p(sale price 299 410cfm CADR) if the Everest is not on clearance. I would buy the core at the sale price. Owning both the Everest is better in my opinion. As others have stated multiple units will provide more benefit than one large unit. However again if you are spending that money and like iqair please consider the Atem-X as it has a very high CADR. Another option is the SmartAir blast MKII. This is a beast of a unit that targets commercial applications but is generally at the same price point as the larger IQAir units but proving a much higher CADR. I have one sitting in my 600sqft Great room.

It’s interesting because the picture that says -no air holes-That’s the issue I’m having with the new Levoit filter I received today. The rep is claiming that the carbon, when it fills up the holes. prevents airflow and that’s why the amount of carbon is less than usual. I’m not sure if I’m believe them.

I have the EVERSTAIRE .I just got a replacement filter which I’m replacing way more than they describe on their website (12-15 months). My new filter just arrived today and I noticed the weight of it was lighter than the previous replacement filter I was using. You can see right through where the charcoal beads are that it’s not even filled up all the way like before, so $99 for half the charcoal.

r/HouseFresh · Air purifier for medium sized room The Winix Zero S has higher CADR than your previous Philips AC2887 and when we tested the newer Philips 3200 in our test it had similar performance to the Winix Zero S - its got some cool features with its app and on-board light, but I have my concerns about Philips in general supporting models many years into the future. Levoit EverestAir would be a good choice if you wanted to upgrade to get higher CADR at lower sound levels, but if you just wanted to match your older Philips model, the Winix Zero S would do a good job and is what I would choose based on the prices you shared. r/AirPurifiers · Levoit Vital 200s vs EverestAir with some odd pricing No massive change to allergies while sleeping, but I have a hunch that it may be in my mattress. It's a bit better. Also better while just being in the room working. Regarding the unit, I'm happy with it. I can forget the hum at speed 1 . It does not bother me at all in sleep mode, but it's several meters from the foot of my bed. The thing looks nice, it's not too bulky or too heavy in practice. The app is okay, works like a remote control and I've had zero issues with it. If there is a concentration of mold in my room, the sensor does not pick that up at all, but does pick up smoke when I open the window. I haven't felt a lack of configuration, but I mostly manually control it - turn off when I leave, run on 2 or 3 before coming back in. One downside of having a purifier is that the room is colder now. Probably the air circulation makes the windows cool off air faster. I've been running my heater more. But with the purifier I feel less need to ventilate much before bed, cold air also helped my symptoms. I think it's worth the extra for me, because it can do more in low speed than others.

I could reset it right now and say it’s brand new and it’ll read 100% my vital though is a month old and was used as the same purpose and same spot I swapped the two units. That filter is at 89% so the Everest filter definitely doesn’t last as long for the same thing I’m doing

Seems to work fine and is filtering my air awesome but yea idk maybe it’s cause it’s by a window and the outside pollen is screwing with it. No idea maybe the sensor isn’t working perfect but yea I like the unit it’s def a upgrade from my 200s vital but yea the no turbo mode on auto is annoying, and it never hitting 100% clean air ever is weird but idk could be normal or not idk my shark would hit 100 but that thing always reads 100 unless you blow stuff at it

The everestair at the junction of the rooms was the wishful thinking part. At this point I'm inclined to get 2 units of Vital 200s (pro), one of them being moved between the living and a bedroom, according to needs. Maybe with a third one later on down the line, but there's no hurry at this point and the living room isn't used as much as the bedrooms.
