Aucun point faible notable.

r/BuyItForLife · Air Purifier- Specifically for Ped Dander/Dust Mites Since money isn't the concern and you just want it to actually work - the Winix 5500-2 is the one I'd point you to. It's been tested against 30+ air purifiers specifically for pet dander and dust mites and consistently comes out on top. The auto mode is actually smart too - it detects when air quality drops (like when your pet walks by or shakes off) and ramps up on its own without you touching anything. What makes it stand out specifically for allergies is that it doesn't just do dander - it also handles the dust mite debris and chemical vapors that most purifiers miss. For constant mucus and sneezing from pet hair that's the combination you want. Just make sure to get the right size for the room you're putting it in. If it's a large living area you might want two units - one won't cut it if the space is big enough. If you want I can drop you the link so you're looking at the right model on Amazon.

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? Side note: you can wash the permanent mesh pre-filter. And the activated carbon filter is advertised as "washable" (although I doubt washing restores new adsorption capacity). But HEPA filters should **never** be washed.
r/AirPurifiers · Prime Day - Coway AirMega vs Winix 5500 vs Levoit Vital 200s Per the [AHAM 2/3 rule](https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/), you need a bare minimum of 367 CFM Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs). But CADRs should be even higher if you're close to roadway traffic. Only one of these purifiers would not be enough. In other words, you would need 3 Coway Airmega 150 units **or** 2 Levoit Vital 200S units **or** 2 Winix 5500-2 units for minimum CADRs. Coway has the best quality of the three brands. They also tend to be more expensive and quieter. I don't know your budget. You could consider buying the [Coway Airmega 240](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-240?variant=40263676592170) (if you like the grill design) and the [Coway Airmega 150](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-150?variant=40203229888554), yielding a combined Smoke CADR of 435 CFM. Then use the codes **COWAYMEGA10** for an extra 10% off both models in your cart. Once the discount is applied, the subtotal would be $553.50 before taxes. Or you could buy 2 [Levoit Vital 200S](https://www.amazon.ca/Purifiers-Bedroom-Powerfully-Allergies-Coverage/dp/B0BGPF71Q6/?th=1) units from [Amazon.ca](http://Amazon.ca) with a combined Smoke CADR of 500 CFM. Total would be $350.98 CAD (before taxes?). Also double check the price of replacement filters from Coway and Levoit to see if those are acceptable to you. NB: listed CADRs apply to the highest airflow/speed setting only. Lower settings will have lower CADRs, which means reduced cleaning performance.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit Vital 200S vs Coway Airmega AP-1512HH I would go with the [Winix C909 from Costco Canada](https://www.costco.ca/winix-c909-4-stage-air-purifier-with-wifi-and-plasmawave-technology.product.4000257649.html). Top Smoke CADR is 323 CFM. Likely not a problem in a nail salon, but... the C909 has PlasmaWave, an optional bipolar ionizer. Keep this *off* if birds are present as it could harm or kill them. (NB: PlasmaWave defaults to being enabled after a power off/power on cycle.) Per the [AHAM 2/3 rule](https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/), a 350 sq. ft. room (with an 8 ft. ceiling) needs minimum Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) of 234 CFM. The Winix 5500-2 and [Coway Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH](https://cowaymega.com/products/mighty-ap-1512hh) barely meet Smoke CADR on the highest airflow speed. The [Levoit Vital 200S-P](https://levoit.com/products/vital-200s-p-smart-air-purifier) is better. The Winix 5500-2 has been discontinued in the USA. Not sure how much longer it will be sold in Canada although replacement filters will be available for years to come. Keep in mind the CADRs listed for purifiers apply to the highest airflow speed/setting only. Lower settings have lower CADRs which reduces cleaning effectiveness.
r/AirPurifiers · Does turning off the plasma setting reduce CADR? Winix C545 Sorry for the late reply here. I wanted to link a report from the Built Environment Research group at ITT. BER tested the Winix 5500-2 (now discontinued in the USA) with the PlasmaWave function on and then off. With PlasmaWave disabled, only Pollen CADR decreased by 18%. This doesn't guarantee the C545 will behave in exactly the same way, but it's probably a good indicator. [Portable Air Cleaner Test Report WINIX 5500-2 Portable Air Purifier: Impact of Ionizer link is here](https://www.built-envi.com/wp-content/uploads/IIT-CADR-Testing-WINIX-5500-2-October-2021.pdf).
r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? Whoops. Conflated the 5510 & 5520's AOC filter with the [Winix 5500-2's Washable AOC filter](https://www.winixamerica.com/product/filter-h-116130/). Thanks for the correction. 😎
r/AirPurifiers · Can’t choose an air purifier for a medium bedroom that isn’t too big Generally a good unit. Most people prefer the Winix 5500-2 because its activated carbon filter uses mini pellets. If you have pet birds, you'll want to keep the "PlasmaWave" (ionizer) off.

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? I have the Winix, I have to change the actually hepa filter about every 6 months but you can clean the pre filter screen and the carbon filter infront. It does what it’s supposed to do. I had levoit (just the small version) and I ended up replacing it with the Winix as the Winix put out more air flow

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? Levoit: 90CFM Winix (smoke/dust/pollen)**:** 232/243/246 So you're definitely getting a much stronger purifier with the Winix. If you're concerned about longevity, you can always go with the 5520/5510 (which is just their new version of the sorta-same machine). However, I don't know what the cost differential would be in England. A closer comparison (in terms of power) would be the "Levoit Vital 200s." Which I don't know why Levoit went with this naming, because it's so confusing. But that model has a CADR of 250 CFM. Again, apologies I don't know the pricing for England. IMO, it's a bit of a toss-up and I don't think you can go wrong. I'd personally prioritize power/CADR over smartphone functionality, mostly because I found auto good enough throughout the day, unless I need to cook dinner. Monitoring is nice, but I just don't see myself doing too much with the data itself. My personal order of importance: 1. Budget 2. Power 3. Reputation / quality of company (will they answer support tickets, warranty, etc.) 4. Aesthetics / Size (does it fit in my apartment and is it not an eye sore) 5. Bells and whistles

r/AirQuality · I need the BEST air purifier out there pls! You’re looking at this all wrong. I don’t want to cast aspersions on the website you were looking at but let me talk about a couple things. 1. No unit under $700 has much carbon so don’t worry about that. If you’d like a LITTLE carbon then Winix 5510, Coway 150/250 and Levoit Vital 100/200 are great options. 2. The Winix 5510 being “worse” than the 5500-2 is absolutely true. But the 5500-2 was the ABSOLUTE BEST in its class and price point, so that’s a high bar. The 5510 is a fine unit. 3. Blue Air units (except their pro line) generally aren’t HEPA, in fact almost zero round units are, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great units. I recommend BlueAir highly. My kids all use them exclusively. Just size it accordingly and keep the sock pre-filter clean. 4. Reddit sentiment analysis includes subreddits other than this one and is garbage. In here we have a recommendation list and it’s pretty consistent.
r/AirPurifiers · Which is better in India, 200 sq ft area, budget (INR 10k - 16k, roughly 100-200$) - Coway Airmega 150 or Coway Airmega Aim? Mixed info available all over youtube and other sites. But they aren’t budget friendly. They’re $100 (Levoit Core) instead of $150 (Winix 5500-2). And then you replace filters 2x as often or more, so in one year of seasonal use you’ve replaced ZERO filters on a Winix 5500-2. On the Levoit you’ve gone through two filters. At $30 each that adds up quickly. Add to that the fact that the small units have no washable pre-filters, so if your room is dusty you’ll foul the filter in days. It SEEMS more cost effective but simply isn’t.
r/AirPurifiers · Levoit vital 200s vs Blueair 211i max vs Coway airmega 400s Ionizer is harmless and can be turned off.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK The winix outperforms the Levoit in every way. There is absolutely no contest here. So does the Coway. I prefer winix because it has more carbon but both are excellent units. The Levoit is a budget unit with no HEPA.
r/AirPurifiers · Levoit vital 200s vs Blueair 211i max vs Coway airmega 400s Because it's the best unit for the price ... still. It's routinely as cheap as $125USD, it's ALWAYS $150USD or less on Amazon, and it provides 200-250CADR with a carbon grid. It's literally the best for the money that can be had in its size.

r/AirPurifiers · Prime Day - Coway AirMega vs Winix 5500 vs Levoit Vital 200s None of those will work well in a space that large. The Vital 200s and Winix 5500-2 work best in about 360 square feet. (Probably a smaller space since most people won’t run it on the highest and loudest setting 24/7) I’d look into the Levoit Core 600s. The Smart Air Blast Mini could also work well but I know it’s a pricy device. Clean Air Kits Tower of Power is another option.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Coway AP-1512HH Definitely Winix due to the carbon pellet filter.
r/AirPurifiers · What is the actually best air purifier for pets/asthma relatively decent price I agree with the Winix 5510 rec. I have the 5500-2 and the 5510 is the newer version. I smoke weed as well and it does a good job with the smell. I generally change my filters every 9 months. Vacuum the pre-filter every two weeks.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega Mighty vs Winix 5500-2 (EU, 62 m², 2 cats, newborn) – which one should I choose? Winix. It won’t be best odor reduction but you won’t get any with the Coway -1512hh
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit Vital 200S vs Coway Airmega AP-1512HH All 3 will be underpowered for the space but some air changes and some pelleted carbon is better than nothing. I'd go with the Winix 5500-2.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Coway AP-1512HH Still miles better than the Coway in terms of odor reduction🤷🏾

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? Go with the Winix 5500-2. It has been around for a long time and is a proven excellent performer with good CADR. All of the smart features (for me anyway) are non-essential as I leave my purifiers on 24/7 at the highest fan speed to acceptable sound ratio. I think it's always better to buy or DIY an air purifier that is rated for a larger space than you need. You can run the 5500-2 at a lower fan speed (quieter/less power draw) and still have a higher CADR than the Levoit running at max (noisy/higher power draw).
r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? I wouldn't worry about it being discontinued in the US. The support is still there, and there are an abundance of affordable generic 3rd party filters available online. That won't stop for a long time, since there are so many 5500-2s out there and still being sold outside the US. If Winix ever decided to stop OEM manufacturing of filters, you're not out of luck.

r/AirPurifiers · Does turning off the plasma setting reduce CADR? Winix C545 Check the reviews on [housefresh.com](http://housefresh.com) Often he will measure the CADR both with the ionizer on and the ionizer off. Products that have HEPA 13 filters, and just use the ionizer as a supplement, don't suffer much from the absence of the ionizer. For instance, according to [https://housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/](https://housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/) : "With PlasmaWave enabled, the \[now-discontinued Winix\] 5500-2 cleaned our test room in **23 minutes** — without the ionizer, it still managed to clean the air in **24 minutes**" At the other extreme, some products use coarser filters to get good airflow while remaining relatively quiet, and rely heavily on the ionizer to achieve their listed CADR values for fine particulates. Those see a more significant drop in performance when the ionizer is diabled (and, for that reason, don't allow you to turn it off). The Blue Air purifiers, with their "HEPA Silent" filtration, are in that category—they use the "HEPA Silent" designation because they aren't true HEPA filters, and instead gain HEPA performance by the addition of the ionizer. According to [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bSFzTaSTbw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bSFzTaSTbw) : "After much deliberation I made the drastic decision to remove the ionizer when we have hepasilent enabled. The Blue Pure 211+ completed our air cleaning test in 20 minutes but but without HEPA Silent the same test took a whopping 38 minutes." That explains why Blue Air doesn't allow you to turn off the ionizer.

That filter costs a bit more but comes with added carbon, so it should be better at absorbing smells and it should last longer. IIRC, the Levoit anti-smoke filter packs more carbon than the Winix'. Downside on the Levoit is that the HEPA and Carbon elements are bonded (so if one needs replacing, you'll have to replace both). On the Winix, the HEPA and carbon-layers are separate elements. [https://www.levoit.com.se/p/vital-200s-rokborttagare-kolfilter/](https://www.levoit.com.se/p/vital-200s-rokborttagare-kolfilter/) At least both the Vital 200S and the Winix have separate pre-filters that you can remove and clean on their own. Which is pretty handy when you have pets as these things will collect larger particles like hairs and need to be dusted/cleaned every 14 days or so. Both the Winix and Levoit probably aren't large enough for your huge living room, but should be the right size for your bedroom.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK I'd get the Winix, simply because it's currently available for €139 on their German store-page. Also: IIRC, the Core 300 is of the round variety and comes with a 3-in-1 filter. The Winix has separate filter elements, including a separate pre-filter you can take out and dust off/wash quite easily. With pets in the house, you'll probably want to clean that thing quite often to remove hair from the pre-filter, so a unit like the Winix will be more convenient to maintain.

r/BuyItForLife · best air purifier for apartment, bad allergies Been running a Winix 5500-2 for about 4 years now and that thing's been solid - handles my dog's fur without issues and you can barely hear it on the lower settings. Got mine for around $160 and the filters aren't crazy expensive to replace either. For separate rooms you'd probably want two smaller units rather than trying to move one big one around all the time, but honestly one decent sized unit in your bedroom might be enough if you keep the door closed while sleeping.

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? I have both of these. I like my Winix more than my Levoit for a few reasons. One is because of its flatter size compared to the cylinder, it just fits and looks better in rooms. I also believe the filters are cheaper and it's easier to find cheap generic replacements. Also the winix filters use less plastic than the levoit, which their round shape makes a bit weird and bulky. Lastly the air intake for the levoit is only at the bottom whereas the levoit is the entire length of the device.

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? I'd go with the Winix. If you have a Costco membership, they sell Winix (at least in North America). If you don't have a membership, now might be the time to join! The unit + replacement filters alone will save you more than the cost of membership. I have a Levoit Vital 100s in my bedroom (CADR is slightly better than the Core 200s) and it's OK for pet hair but not great.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India? I really like the winix 5500-2, I heard good things about it. But sadly filters costing ₹3999 a pair is a bummer. And I am sure the availability of these filters will become non existent in the coming years, as there are not many takers for this wonderful Air Purifier. I only see good availability of filters for Xiaomi, Coway amd Phillips AC1217. The CADR of Mi AP4 (not lite) and 5500-2 is almost same but Winix has better gas filteration due to pellet based carbon filter compared to Mi AP4. If you are a Richie then go with 5500-2, because you can always import thes filters by paying a premium.

r/AirPurifiers · IQAir HealthPro 250 - what are the common issues and is it worth it? That's more of a merketing gimick I think. Regular HEPA filters filter those particles fine. They just aren't tested for them. The whole .3 microns thing is because .3 microns is the hardest to catch. I believed the hype and got the IQAir, and the air feels cleaner after running my Levoit or Winix than it does from the IQAir. Maybe it's just because of the horrible offgassing, but regardless, I'd recommend one of those over it.
r/AirPurifiers · IQAir HealthPro 250 - what are the common issues and is it worth it? Bought it and found that it worked a lot worse than either my Winix 5500-2 or my Levoit Vital 200s at cleaning the air. It also let off this horrible chemical smell that made it difficult to breathe and made me super dizzy. I even ran it outside in full blast for 24 hours and that didn’t help the smell at all. Suffice to say, I took it back.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Winix AM80 I have the AM90 and the quality is unimpressive. The plastic feels cheap. Also, it was quiet at first, but got progressively louder and now it's really loud even on the second speed. Same thing happened to my D360. The made in Thailand units can't keep up with the ones that were made in Korea. Sadly, the 5500-2 is no longer made in Korea, but is currently on sale for just over $100. At that price point, it you really can't go wrong.
r/AirPurifiers · First air purifier - Winix 5500-2 vs 5510 The 5500-2 was having quality issues, so I would definitely not do FB marketplace. I bought a couple of them before they were discontinued, and they were junk. Started making noise. On the upside, Winix sent me a replacement, which is the 5510, so their warranty process is great. The carbon cartridge on the 5510 is not washable and the filter is much smaller. The biggest plus I see is that the air purifier turns itself back on in case of a power failure. I get frequent power blips, so that's a huge plus.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5510 vs. 5500-2 I’m sure the 5510 is good but I’m hearing and reading from several sellers that the availability of the 5510’s replacement filter is scarce, and not the same filter type as the 5500-2. Whereas, the 5500-2 filters are readily available from more sellers. Performance wise, the 5510 performs slightly better. But not enough where you’d feel bad about it if you decided to go for the 5500-2 for replacement filter availability.
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5510 vs. 5500-2 Yeah the 5500-2, AM series, and C500 series all share filters. IMO the 5510 should have also shared but for whatever reason they felt it needed to have a fully new filter type that also costs double the cost of a H filter

r/Costco · Need Help Choosing an Air Purifier from Costco—Totally Lost Here! From what I've used, it's either the Winix 5500-2 or the Shark Air Purifier Max. I prefer the Shark just because it's better for larger spaces (like my studio apartment) and the filter's supposed to live for longer. Dunno about other reviews, but I'll leave this here if you're interested - https://www.rd.com/article/shark-air-purifier-review/. But my gf has a Winix at her place and it's also good, mostly for smaller rooms, and a nice price for what it does. Both are great for dust btw, they have the HEPA filters.

r/AirPurifiers · Going crazy The Winix 5500-2 is a proven model with a defeat-able ionizer that is currently $130 on Amazon in the USA. The chemical smell can occur with many filters, it usually goes away quickly in my experience. I’ve also read that some people experienced that issue with Coway and others had no problem. Maybe it’s a run to run issue.

r/BuyItForLife · The best air purifier to buy for home right now? Recommendations to choose? rlly appreciate the breakdown, j a couple things i'd add. for the coway airmega line, the 400s is great but the 250 or 300s w smart app are honestly better mid range picks for most homes imo, the 400s is kindaa unnecessary for spaces under 1500 sqft. rabbit air a3 made the list but the minusa2 is the cult fav for allergy ppl, the customizable filter for pet allergies specifically is HUGEE yk. also idk if ur aware but the winix 5500-2 you've listed has been discontinued in the US, replaced by [the winix 5510](https://quick-resources.web.app/lv_pXjGN8Hr) which is the new gen with app support, same true hepa and carbon setup. also i rlly suggest checking AHAM verified CADR numbers vs the brand's claimed coverage, brands do tend to inflate coverage by 20-30% tbh.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK The Core 300 I would not say is outdated. That Winix though you are correct as that has been replaced with a new model. The Levoit has not been replaced as it is still the Core 300 unit...and works great. (The Vital line is newer, but not a replacement of the Core line. The Core 300 actually outperforms the similarly priced Vital 100 in recent testing.)
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK Levoit Core 300 are excellent units....as I have two of them running near continuously...for 5+6 years now. Although you are comparing a smaller 90 dollar Levoit to a bigger more expensive Winix. The Winix is twice the price or so, so more powerful (250CFM range) and I think 13 or 14 pounds. The Levoit is about half the size, and half the cost, but still gives 155CFM. (So for the same cost 2x of those Levoits would give 310CFM power.) Point is a better comparison is an equal sized Levoit to an equal sized Winix. As an equal size/price Levoit would be the Levoit Vital 200s. Which does the same 250CFM as the Winnix. Both are great for that price point. Both have air quality monitor I think, and Levoits have great choice of filter types. The main difference really would be aesthetics, and that the Winnix has an ionizer that I think you can toggle on/off. As well with Winnix you can spend 20-30 more for 2-3 year warranty. However Levoits are great quality and last years...although it officially has 1 year warranty. (Maybe the Winnix breaks after 3 years ? Idk, but my two Levoit Core 300s have been running near continuously...for 5+6 years now... So id the two units you show, the bigger more expensive units better (mostly - even though as shown you can get more CFM for same cost with two of the smaller Levoits.). So if you only have access to those units, get the Winix as it's more powerful. However a Levoit Vital 200 will perform about the same a a Winix as that's same size, so that's another good option. ( I think it has smart features too, not sure if the Winix does.). They are both great. Just choose which features you like more. (If between a Winix and Vital 200)
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK The Core 300 is a great unit, and Levoits are fairly energy efficient. I've had two running near continuously....for 5+6 years now. They also outperform even pricier units than them so excellent performance for what you get. I don't have Winnix but it's a very good brand too. So that unit is about 20 bucks more, but a little more powerful as well. Prob uses slightly more energy too, but I doubt it's vastly different. It would probably just come down to aesthetics really, as one is circular and one is more rectangular. Both great brands. I think with Winnix you can pay 20-30 more for 2-3 year warranty. Levoits I think 1 year warranty officially but they are excellent and last years and years anyway. (Mines still going perfectly at 5+6 years...) If you want the most power get the Winnix. As you pay slightly more but prob worth it. If you really like the circular style, or for space or other reasons then get the Levoit. (7 or 8 pounds, vs the other is 14ish pounds I think so bigger/heaver.) Generally you want to get the most CFM so id get the Winnix, unless space an issue. But Levoits great too.

r/Home · Tired of seeing 'just get a Coway' when someone asks for best home air purifier so here's an actual breakdown Honestly, I’ve been down the air purifier rabbit hole too, and it’s kinda overwhelming with all the options. I get why folks just drop the ‘Coway’ name but it doesn’t always fit everyone’s needs, right? For something like dust and allergies, I tried the Coway AP-1512HH Mighty. It works great for that, super quiet on low, but if you're dealing with pet smells or cooking odors, it’s not quite enough. They’ve got this fabric-like carbon layer, not actual carbon pellets, so it’ll do okay with light smells, but not heavy ones like litter boxes. If you’re looking for something that handles both allergens and smells, you might wanna check out Winix 5500-2. It has real carbon pellets, works well for pet smells, and the filters last longer since the pre-filter’s washable. But, honestly, a bit noisy on higher settings. One more thing I’d throw in is checking out the filter costs, ‘cause those add up! I’ve found AirPurifiers(dot)com helpful when it comes to filter prices and choosing a decent purifier, though it’s good to look around too.

r/moderatelygranolamoms · Any recommendations for a good air purifier for smoke at the moment? Out of the ones you listed, I’ve personally had better results with models like the Winix 5500-2 and units that have substantial carbon weight. The really high end options like IQAir or Austin Air are strong performers if the room size justifies it, but they’re overkill for small spaces in my opinion. What mattered most for me was high smoke CADR, true HEPA, and real carbon depth. Without that carbon stage, smoke odor barely improved.

r/AirPurifiers · Best air purifier for cat allergens in a 1000 sq ft basement? Dyson vs Coway or something better? Maybe I can answer my own thread and someone can tell me if I’m wrong, but after the hundreds of searches on Reddit, google, AI, everything kept pointing back to 5500-2, and the current more modern model C909 from Costco. I would use two units in my basement on opposite walls and I could move them around individually to bedrooms in the house as necessary. I read they won’t work as well on odors compared to the 5500-2 which is unfortunate but will be great for airflow and allergens, I was hoping it would also reduce Kitty smells, which I hope it doesn’t little. Thoughts? Could I be making a better choice or is this solid?

r/AirPurifiers · Can someone help me decide between these two purifiers please? 5510 and 5520 are the same. Just the outside is a bit different. The on in your picture is 5500-2 which is the older model (now discontinued in US at least) for the 5510. Apparently the older model was better than the new 5510.
r/AirPurifiers · Best Value Air Purifier? (Coway, Winix, Blueair, Shark, Sans, etc) Winix 5510 - after some research I got that as it has the separate filters along with the front washable filter. Plus it’s got the carbon pellets instead of the carbon mesh which makes it more effective. Many of the others have integrated filters so have to replace the entire thing instead of just one which is bad. Apparently the previous model 5500-2 was even better but they discontinued it for the current 5510 which is a bit more noisy as they reduced the size. The new definitely looks better than the older one.

r/carverscave · LEVOIT Vital 200S-P Air Purifier Review: When Clean Air Becomes an Obsession I got the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W) off amazon for $206USD before taxes. I like it, thoughit's my first experience with a purifier and I had some expectations for it that it didn't really meet. I'm sure it's made an impact but it didn't fully solve my dust or pet dander problem as much as I would've liked. We've had some nearby wildfires lately, and on bad days I haven't had much of the smoke smell indoors as I used to. A small caveat is I could have miscalculated and it's underpowered for my space. But it haven't arrived and I haven't tested it yet. Also I find a deal on marketplase for Dyson Big+Quiet(BP03) for 400 euro. And I am thinking about going to buy it. But as I read reviews people devided 50/50, some say Dyson is bad some say it is good. But my friend I know personally bought Dyson purifier week ago and tell me that it is very good. I better trust him then the comments on the Internet. Also I think it's a good deal to buy it for 400 because new one cost is 1000. Also another vote for Dyson is my personal story when I have changed different vacuum cleaners LG, Panasonic and others I don't remember even and always they broke. And after that I get Dysov v8 and it was gamechanger!! It works until now! About IQ Air I read they are good but the price is very high to be honest. r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Winix AM80 Based on the layout, there's a chance it will be great for the hallway but have a negligible effect on the computer room and bedroom. You would def need one for the den, and 1 should work for downstairs (but without measurements, it's hard to tell).
r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Winix AM80 What are the height of your ceilings? And what's the size of each floor? I can almost guarantee that 1 air purifier will do nothing for the floor on which it's not located. Go with the 5500-2, only because it has a charcoal pellet filter in addition to the HEPA filter and pre-filter. The AM90's charcoal filter is only a carbon pad, based on pics on the Winix website. The 5500-2 also has a slightly hire rating for pollen than the AM90 (you mentioned allergies), but other than that the numbers for those two purifiers are identical. See the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers's (AHAM) ratings for both of them [here](https://www.ahamdir.com/room-air-cleaners/) Other than that, there's nothing really wrong with the AM90, as [Wirecutter](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/#our-pick-coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-mighty) points out. And the AM90 is more modern looking than the 5500-2. Ignore the "1700sqft" and other large numbers by the vast majority of these manufacturers. Marketing BS that really should be illegal. Those numbers are usually based on unknown factors cooked up by manufacturers, or based on 1 air change per hour (ACH)--the number of times the purifier will completely clean the air in a room. CDC, EPA, AHAM, and WHO recommend 5-6 ACH. Most air quality experts recommend at least 8 to 12 ACH, especially for allergies, asthma, infectious disease control, etc. The relevant number is the 360 sq ft--that's the number certified by AHAM for both of these air purifiers (as it says on the AM90 Amazon page) for 4.8 ACH. Some explanation [here](https://gbs.trutesta.io/aham-indexer-services/aham-indexer/aham/public/AirCleanerFullDir.pdf) on page 5 of the AHAM certification directory. BTW, that 360 sq ft number is based on the purifier's highest setting, which is too loud for constant use. Without knowing the size and layout of each of your floor, you might need 2-3 of either of these machines on each floor to achieve \~5 ACH.

It’s a bit more budget-friendly but still packs a punch. It features a true HEPA filter, a washable pre-filter, and an activated carbon filter that helps with odors. I’ve found it to be very effective at reducing allergens in my home, and it runs quietly, which is a huge plus for me. The smart sensors adjust the fan speed based on the air quality, so it’s always working efficiently.
r/AirPurifiers · Can we stop recommending the Winix 5500-2 and instead recommend the Winix D360? I’ve had the 5500-2 for a while, and while it does a decent job, I’ve been frustrated with the built-in ionizer that turns on automatically every time you power it up. The D360, on the other hand, doesn’t have that ionizer, which is a big win for me. I’ve read that it performs similarly in terms of air purification, but without the potential downsides of ozone production. Plus, it’s cheaper! I mean, who doesn’t want to save a bit of cash while still getting solid air quality? I haven't personally tried the D360 yet, but I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews about it. It seems like a better choice for anyone looking for a reliable air purifier without the extra features that can complicate things. Also, it’s only available at Home Depot, which has a good return policy, so you can try it out without too much risk.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK For pets + dust + road pollution, I’d go with Winix or Coway over the Levoit. They’re generally stronger and handle dander and odors better, especially in a 250 sqft room. Levoit is fine for light use, but might struggle a bit with cats + traffic pollution long term. EnviroTesters has some useful info on air quality if you want to dig deeper.

Just to help with compatibility, since the C535 is sort of rare now in the USA (its a costco exclusive model; only otherwise sold from Winix USA directly as refurbished, or from other distributors like Woot and Meh) ...: This is mostly from my own testing except for the Winix Zero: C535 = Winix Zero in Europe 5300-2 = Non Costco version. Compatible down to the remote. I have not tested if the front decorative grill fits. C535 filters fit this model. Sister Products: 5500-2 = Thinner HEPA filter in exchange for more room to fit a honeycomb filter carrying activated carbon pellets. This replaces the carbon plastic sheet on the 5300-2 / C535. I use the 5500-2 filter stack inside of the C535 and 5300-2 as it has increased activated carbon. The prefilter will either bulge or fail to fit entirely on the 5300-2/C535 as the filter stack on the 5500-2 is thicker overall than the C535/5300-2 The original 5300 and 5500's also fit these filters. Thanks for the testing, OP!
I'd never get a purifier smaller than the 5500-2. They're noisy, inefficient, and often aren't worth the filter change costs. Remember - purifiers room ratings are based on their maximum fan speeds. See what's in the budget for that size of a purifier and go from there. I've never done room volume sizing based on cubic feet; I assume AHAM is based on 8ft ceilings. Always oversize the purifier based on AHAM - this gives you more room to run the purifier on tolerable volume levels.
I've used gas powered (water) pressure washers on them and they hold up just fine after over 6+ years of use. Also, its a -just- prefilter. The C535 pictured in the OP (The model number for USDM Costco models) takes those flimsy black fiber with carbon dust pre filters - can easily swap those out into the trash given how cheaply a roll (or even precut) can be had for the C535. I've personally removed almost all my C535 prefilters - I use 5500-2 filters instead (which uses a honeycomb carbon pellet carrier). The filter housings on the C535 and 5300-2 aren't as deep as the 5500-2. The filter stack for the 5500-2 is thicker than the C535/5300-2 so the prefilters no longer fit flush (can be forced). I just don't run them and opt to use the nicer carbon pellet pre filters filters. If one is inclined, these still use plastic mesh and can be vacuumed out (or even rinsed out) just like the original plastic mesh.
Sorry I was being vague. I meant, the prefilters are pretty worthless once you consider there's a carbon filter you can easily dispose of without the hassle of cleaning the prefilters - while serving a similar purpose (improve longevity of HEPA filter by blocking large particles from reaching it) And the honeycomb 5500-2 carbon pellet prefilters offer a similar plastic mesh that can also be blown clean with a blower, vacuum, hose, or pressure washer. So while prefilters are great, they do introduce another substantial time sink / house maintenance. And since the C535 in this thread can somewhat fit 5500-2 replacement filters; might as well run those filters instead of the 5300-2/C535 filters. You just need to remove the prefilter or be satisfied with it being tight/bulging.
Going to provide some more experience with these filters comment, my C535/5500-2/5300-2 (I have all three, multiples of each) are run 24/7 on turbo for over 4-5 years just fine. I want to be explicit - my purifiers are not speed nor power cycled - which should help in wear and tear. I have three C535's specifically between 3 homes and they've held up well. I've only had a failure in the original 5500s (they make a whine on start up for about an hour) and the C545s have a manufacturing QC failure with some loose mounted fans which is why they're almost always available on Winix's USA open box/refurbished site. I've only got them as refurb - and they appear as new on every order. That being said, the C545 sound quality sucks (high pitched and noisy to the ear) compared to its physically larger 5500-2 series filters.
5500-2 as far as I know is discontinued. I don't know if this is a US distribution thing that its discontinued, but I think Winix already has a replacement model. I don't know if they support the same filters (original 5500 can use 5500-2 filters minus the honeycomb carbon pellet array - but you can make it work). I don't know enough about the Coway to compare. I would just use whatever is cheapest to run on the buyers guide that has easily available filters. 5500-2 is on that list, but theres others on there too that are sufficient. For me, I'd prefer a filter with longer term support to help continue the availability of said filters. I haven't explicitly looked for 5500 original filters, but I still have two of them that still run continuously - and I'd like to keep it like that until they fail. Because the 5300-2/5500-2/C535 share similar (!) filter sizes, I was able to continue operating the 5500 original. So If the 5500-2 is actually discontinued and the newer replacement doesn't support the same filter size... I'd potentially sway against that purchase if there's a similarly priced (or cheaper!) unit available.
C545's were known to be clunky and have fan bearing issues. Its partially rumored why Winix always had tons of them as certified refurb. None of my refurbs are bad, but I also think the C545's just feel cheaper overall than the 5500-2/C535 series before it - smaller fans, different quality noise (higher pitched, noiser sounding). My 5500 originals have started to fail too - making some high pitched noise. I can't pin it on the fan - could be plasmawave? Not sure. I thought these were AC motors so there shouldn't be anything else that could really produce a whine (like some high power step down circuit or AC to DC circuits). The 5500's only make this noise upon power down - which admittedly is virtually never - but they need a good hour to warm up and be noiseless again. I guess maybe some capacitor failure as well. My 5300-2/5500-2/C535 (all virtually the same model mechanically) have been absolutely rock solid and have survived multiple moves, none of them run below setting 2 on the fan speed, and have been running for 6 years+, continuously - including my batch of three C545's from 2020 (refurb, from woot dot com).
If its not THAT much louder than you're looking for, consider repositioning the filter. Reposition the filter in different parts of the room and see how it sounds. I'm not saying the Winix is silent (I've never had the 5510); but most of these room filters tend to be just a tad louder than the noise floor. (Which does mean they're mildly audible). Perhaps the subwoofer placement test would work here; but I'm not sure how well that works with both moving air and higher frequency. The test is to play a test tone (aka; turn on the filter) then move around until you find a spot in the room where its quietest - place the filter there then test how "loud" the filter is in the areas you normally stay in the room (seating positions, etc). Also consider sound treatment? The C545, for example, sounds absolutely awful - its tonality is higher frequency than their older 5500 and 5500-2 siblings. Sounds like hollow plastic being blown around. Could probably benefit from some acoustic car padding to firm up the hollow percussion sound; dampening the cheaper higher frequency; more annoying, noise. I'm not saying these are acceptable solutions - but I don't think you'll find many filters aiming for super silent operation since they're likely targeting more or less "around the noise floor". As someone else said, custom might be the way to go; but a bunch of DC PC fans gets expensive fast and isn't really performant until you get a wack ton of them. Obviously a ton of small DC fans isn't even efficient to begin with (relative to a single larger fan) - its just a solution that works with off the shelf parts.
