r/HouseFresh · Any opinions on the new Philips Series 900 vs alternatives? →2024-12-03

We have only tested the Philips 3000i and the 800 Series, and in both cases, we found the devices to offer good value and performance with average metrics in terms of noise generation and energy consumption. That said, I wouldn't say go with the Philips as we haven't tested the 900 Series yet, but it does look nice—especially in black. Going with the Core 300S means going with a device that has been around for many years and for which you will find a ton of generic replacement filters (if you want to lower those filter change costs further). In terms of energy efficiency, the Core 300S pulled 21.8 watts at top speed VS 20 watts pulled from the Philips 800, so the difference might not be as big as you might think. Three more alternatives in this size could be the Levoit Vital 100S (which also has app connectivity and pelleted activated carbon), the Winix Zero Compact (which doesn't have an app but does have auto-mode and carbon), and the Shark HP102 (no smart features but does have auto-mode, carbon and a very high-quality control screen).

I ended up taking care of this on Black Friday and got some pretty substantial discounts... Large Room: Alen Breathesmart 75i. Me & Wife's Bedroom: Coway AP-1512HH Mighty 13 year old's bedroom: Levoit Core 300S I was looking hardcore at the Medify MA-112, Coway 400S, and two Winix HR900s. I'll update you all once we get them settled in place. Cheers.

Sorry for the late answer. I guess you compared the core300 to core 200s (not to the 200) -right? If so, you are absolutely right. The Core 300 is the better option in case you don't need WiFi Connectivity (most people prefer without :) The reason the prices are so close is a trade-off: The 200S is "Smart" (Wi-Fi and App), but weaker. The 300 is dumb (buttons only), but has a stronger fan and bigger filter. You are basically choosing between having a remote control (the 200S) or having cleaner air (the 300). For just $20 more, it covers way more space and works faster. It is easily the best value in that lineup - only in case you dont need WiFi. Hope this helps, please share what you selected? :)

Curious about the Levoit core 300, at about $100. Does it fit into this lineup? Seems to be a lot more powerful than the 200 at just $20 more.

    r/AirPurifiers · Thoughts on LEVOIT Core 600S? →2024-10-11

Not directly related, but may be useful if you prefer your purchases to last. I've repaired a number of Levoit Core 300 air purifiers due to a silly fault: blown thermal fuse - buried within the fans motor. Symptoms: turns on, but fan does not spin. Some were a real pain to access. Haven't personally worked on a Core 600S, nor have I sought them out, but they're likely built the same. I've currently got x3 Levoit Core 300 units scattered about the house, just doing their thing. All units I've repaired. Showed no indication as to why their fuses went; extremely clean, bearings in perfect condition, power draw post-repair was within specifications - otherwise internals seemed great. All failed units were between 4-6 years of age. After doing some research, other repair techs noted other failed devices utilizing thermal fuses. Their theory was that as the fuses age, they degrade - 'crystallize' IIRC. I'm inclined to support this theory, since the units I've repaired have been in otherwise immaculate, perfectly functional order - aside from the blown thermal fuses... Afraid I can't speak on the build choices of other manufacturers, but that's my limited assessment of Levoit units. Just a tangent, but after contacting Levoit support to express my concerns - I can confidently state they do not support right to repair. Actively deterred me from doing so, refused to address my reason for contacting them in the first place, and for fun - refused to provide any helpful documentation/information. But ayy, what company doesn't behave like this nowadays? Actually, Peak doesn't. Will provide helpful documentation upon request - and may even assist you with custom modifications, beyond the scope of their products. Unfortunately, they do not make air purifiers.

r/AirPurifiers · dizzy and ill because of air purifier? →2024-01-24

I have the levoit core 300. The first day seemed ok, but I got lightheaded rather quickly. When I removed the filter and just had the air blow, I was fine. The filter had a smell after using in my room for a period of time. Like an old gluey dirty rag. My room has no odour and is clean. I keep it as free of dust as I can. Not sure what it is. I’ve stopped using it as waking up light headed and nauseous is no fun. I don’t know if my laminate wood floor is giving off any smells/gassing that gets sucked up from the purifier filter? I tend to be sensitive to smells and particles/dust etc.

    r/HomeClimateTech · Top 10 Best Air Purifier in 2026 →2026-07-04

The "Reddit Gold Standard": WINIX 5510 Despite being an older chassis, this is still the undisputed king of value in 2026. Why? Because the AOC Carbon Filter is actually washable and uses real pelletized carbon, unlike the "carbon-coated sponges" you see in cheap clones. Best for: Most living rooms/bedrooms (up to 360 sq. ft.). Why it wins: PlasmaWave tech (kills viruses) and the cheapest long-term maintenance cost. The Smart-Home King: Levoit Vital 200S (2026 Updated) If you want an app that actually works, this is it. It has been a top Reddit recommendation because of its U-shaped intake that doesn't get clogged by pet hair as easily as the "Core" circular models. Best for: Pet owners and smart home enthusiasts. Key Feature: Fully compatible with Matter and ESPHome for the privacy-conscious crowd. Best for Large Open Plans: Coway Airmega ProX If you have a massive open-concept kitchen or a small office, don't buy three small units—buy one of these. It covers up to 2,100 sq. ft. and is consistently rated #1 by Consumer Reports for 2026. Best for: 1,000+ sq. ft. spaces. Why it wins: Dual-suction power and a Max2 filter that tackles VOCs and Formaldehyde better than standard HEPA. The "Sleep Sanctuary" Pick: Blueair Blue Pure 311i+ Max Blueair’s 2026 "Max" line is significantly quieter than the previous generation. It uses HEPASilent™ tech which allows for high airflow with much less fan noise. Best for: Bedrooms and Nurseries. Why it wins: 360-degree intake and a fabric pre-filter that comes in different colors to match your decor. Best for Severe Allergies: Austin Air HealthMate If you live near a highway or deal with heavy wildfire smoke, this is the "Buy It For Life" (BIFL) choice. It’s a tank made of solid steel with 15 lbs of activated carbon. Best for: Heavy smoke, VOCs, and chemical sensitivities. The Catch: It’s "dumb" (no app, just a knob), but the filter lasts 5 years . The "BIFL" Lifetime Legend: Alen BreatheSmart 75i In the r/BuyItForLife world, Alen is often the only brand recommended for its lifetime warranty . While most brands give you 1-2 years, Alen covers you forever as long as you keep a filter subscription active. Best for: People who never want to buy another air purifier again. Why it wins: It’s incredibly quiet for its size (it emits a tuned "pink noise") and handles large open-concept areas up to 1,300 sq. ft. effortlessly. The Desktop/Office Workhorse: Coway Airmega 100 For 2026, the Airmega 100 has replaced the older "Mighty" for small rooms. It’s a compact cylinder that doesn't take up your entire desk but still packs a 3-stage True HEPA filter. Best for: Home offices, dorm rooms, or nightstands. Why it wins: It features a 360-degree intake, meaning you can tuck it in a corner or behind a monitor and it still pulls air effectively. The "Medical Grade" Heavyweight: IQAir HealthPro Plus If you have severe asthma or are a "clean freak" (as Reddit calls it), this is the nuclear option. It uses HyperHEPA technology, which is tested to trap particles 100x smaller than standard HEPA (down to 0.003 microns). Best for: Severe allergies, mold spores, and viruses. Why it wins: It’s a Swiss-made powerhouse. No "smart" gimmicks, just pure, hospital-grade filtration. The Budget King: Levoit Core 300S If the Winix is too bulky, the 300S is the "value pick" for 2026. It’s the most-reviewed purifier on Amazon for a reason: it’s cheap, the replacement filters are everywhere, and it works with Alexa/Google Home. Best for: Small bedrooms (up to 215 sq. ft.). Why it wins: It’s almost silent on Sleep Mode and has a built-in laser dust sensor that adjusts the fan speed automatically. The Aesthetic Choice: Rabbit Air A3 Most air purifiers look like space heaters; the Rabbit Air A3 looks like a piece of art. It’s wall-mountable and features a 6-stage filtration system that you can customize (e.g., choosing a specific filter for "Pet Allergy" or "Toxin Absorber"). Best for: High-end home decor and wall-mounting. Why it wins: It’s ultra-slim, features customizable front panels (including Van Gogh art), and is nearly silent. Reddit Tip: Avoid the "Ionic" purifiers you see for $40. They often produce ozone, which is a lung irritant. Stick to True HEPA or HEPA-grade mechanical filtration.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK →2026-04-15

I'd get the Winix, simply because it's currently available for €139 on their German store-page. I know it's been superseded by the 5510, but that thing isn't available over here (yet?) plus both use the exact same filters, so I'd expect that performance will be close enough between the two. Plus they look pretty much identical to me and I don't see any important new features on the 5510. Also: IIRC, the Core 300 is of the round variety and comes with a 3-in-1 filter. The Winix has separate filter elements, including a separate pre-filter you can take out and dust off/wash on its own quite easily. With pets in the house, you'll probably want to clean that thing quite often to remove hair from the pre-filter, so a unit like the Winix will be more convenient to maintain.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK →2026-04-14

Levoit Core 300 are excellent units....as I have two of them running near continuously...for 5+6 years now.  Although you are comparing a smaller 90 dollar Levoit to a bigger more expensive Winix.  The Winix is twice the price or so, so more powerful (250CFM range) and I think 13 or 14 pounds.  The Levoit is about half the size, and half the cost, but still gives 155CFM. (So for the same cost 2x of those Levoits would give 310CFM power.) Point is a better comparison is an equal sized Levoit to an equal sized Winix.  As an equal size/price Levoit would be the Levoit Vital 200s.  Which does the same 250CFM as the Winnix. Both are great for that price point.  Both have air quality monitor I think, and Levoits have great choice of filter types.  The main difference really would be aesthetics, and that the Winnix has an ionizer that I think you can toggle on/off.  As well with Winnix you can spend 20-30 more for 2-3 year warranty.  However Levoits are great quality and last years...although it officially has 1 year warranty.  (Maybe the Winnix breaks after 3 years ?  Idk,  but my two Levoit Core 300s have been running near continuously...for 5+6 years now...Winnix is a very good brand too though.) So of the two units you show, the bigger more expensive units better (mostly - even though as shown you can get more CFM for same cost with two of the smaller Levoits.). So if you only have access to those units, get the Winix as it's more bigger so more powerful. However a Levoit Vital 200 is about equally sized and will perform about the same a the Winix so that's another good option.  ( I think it has smart features too, not sure if the Winix does.). They are both great.  Just choose which features you like more.  (If between a Winix and Vital 200)

Looking for living space, based out of Seattle. We have found recent mold presence and remediation is in progress. family members show allergy symptoms. While remediating we have been asked to use hepa air purifiers. Have a levoit core 300 for master bedroom, but we don’t see much help with reducing dust. looking for living space and kitchen spanning 800sqft with a high ceiling. Ordered an airdoctor 3500 in amazon and delivery is getting delayed. Any suggestions for living space (800sqft) and kids bedroom of 150sqft?
