    r/EufyCam · Eufy solocam s220

Plugging this camera model in will only charge the battery and nothing else. It will not give you the choice for "wired mode" like the S3 pro does when wired.

r/EufyCam · A perfectly working Eufy S220 was left by my mailbox. Any reason not to use it?

Check to see if your neighborhood has a FaceBook group and post on there (if you're feeling generous) that you found the device and return it if someone can confirm its theirs. As long as you factory reset it and we're able to add it to your account then the previous owner should not have access to it and there shouldn't be any security risk for you to use it.

r/EufyCam · Not able to turn off notifications on Solocam S220

Support is next to useless. This isn't a problem but by design. For whatever reason, only wired cameras allow you to choose what notifications get pushed. Not even their flagship S3 pro, even in wired mode, has this feature, but yet my 5 year old wired camera does..

r/EufyCam · Eufy Support's Response about SoloCam S220 Battery Drainage

This is perhaps the biggest impediment to Anker/Eufy... Getting matters escalated is painful. I've have two HB3 and two solocams go south, variety of issues since I've been using their HW since it came out Also I find their lack of API support an issue as well, but by far getting bug fixes in the pipeline is terrible. Regarding your issue, it very likely is a bug in the app. I've yet to put wireshark on the matter, but what I know so far from the phone's power/app manager is the app leaves a connection open on the device, which then leads to it keeping both the phone and the device's wifi chatting, and both will drain in a comparatively short order. This is on Android, btw...

r/EufyCam · What's your opinion on the position of the this camera?

I would tilt down slightly… less of the homes across the street but enough to see vehicles. This will move center of motion sensor up the driveway a little. Keep in mind that motion detection is not done by the camera but rather by the Passive Infrared sensor that then triggers on the camera. PIR sensors are not great close up or at long ranges… you will need to adjust to find the sweet spot. Also, hot surfaces like a warm car or driveway will trigger when a cool wind blows over them as a thermal shift. Invest in alternative motion detection if that is critical to your view. But, keep in mind, eufy is not a commercial grade security system. For that, get a 24/7 recorder. You will still get false alerts (shadows, clouds, headlights), but you will be recording all the time.

r/SecurityCamera · Security cameras/Systems that don’t have long lags when switching to live view?

I suspect a fair amount off the lag you're seeing is related to these being solar/battery cameras. We use all wired-PoE cameras with an NVR set to continuously record the low-res stream to disk, so switching to live view within the NVR is basically instantaneous, and the continuous recording at low-bitrate ensures we always have \*something\* preserved even for short-lived events where no motion event was triggered at all.

    r/EufyCam · Bigger solar panel?

In this case a larger panel is better. It won’t hurt the battery or the charging unit, and the extra wattage gives you a better chance of getting at least a trickle of power on cloudy days. On the 3x SoloCam S220 I’m testing (and wouldn’t recommend) I’m using 7 watt panels. Even in full sunlight the built-in panel can’t keep up with the event load and recording times I have set. With the 7 watt panels, even on cloudy or snowy days, they still manage to pull in at least some charge. Side note: if Eufy ever pulled themselves together, they’d let you set a maximum charge level. I’d love the option to cap it at 90 or 95 percent instead of forcing the battery to top off every time.

    r/EufyCam · Solocam S220 shows “snow” (there’s none)

Need to try that tonight, but there’s no light in the area it’s supposed to film. It works with IR, which then covers the whole area, but last time I checked, it doesn’t with the lights on. There’s no electricity in that area, so there’s no light.

    r/EufyCam · Solocam S220 shows “snow” (there’s none)

Yes, so apparently it has to do with the humidity. I stood next to the camera when this was recorded, and there’s no fog/mist/snow/bugs, just high humidity and freezing temperatures! It looks super weird, right?

    r/EufyCam · S220 with no router

It’ll need an internet connection to set it up first. Its need to connect to the Eufy App. The camera will still work without an internet connection but you’ll get no notification to the Eufy App and you’ll need an internet connection for the camera to check anything that the camera has picked up. It’s not a camera to app connection without it going over wifi. It’s a standalone camera and it’ll still pick motion without wifi access. You’ll be better off getting a portable wifi router and using that with the camera.

r/EufyCam · What's your opinion on the position of the this camera?

For the with the s220 of really depends on the angle in which the sun rises. If there is direct sun hitting it, it's gotta be tilted down more or you get no detection until night time. Also best to do the motion test. It has the most trouble picking up motion of you walk directly at it, beat pick up of the target walks across, if that makes sense

r/EufyCam · Is the Eufy app still good?

I’m having major issues with the Eufy app, and I provided feedback but they don’t listen at all. Seems like they are doing a “Sonos-move” here. When I stream a video, it can take sometimes long and sometimes immediately. And yes, my WiFi network is just fine (all UniFi pro-ish stuff here). When I try to use the microphone (to talk to my kid) it either freezes or the cam doesn’t produce sound. So, for now I wouldn’t buy it until everything is fixed and the comments become better.

    r/EufyCam · Battery dropping.

Those s220's have some pretty serious flaws in them. You found one of them. You can add an external solar panel but....will likely start getting notifications every day saying the battery is charged. Which can't be shut off. Eufy won't acknowledge the issues but will generally replace the devices if you contact them. I suspect the RMA rate is pretty crazy because they don't blink when you report an issue. Only model of Eufy camera I've had significant issues with.

r/EufyCam · Just got the Solocam S220. Got a some questions.

My s220 cams don't start charging from the attached panels until they fall under 95%. The mah charge meter adds to yesterday's reading before 12 noon. I have 1 camera on the north side of my house that doesn't get enough sun to keep a charge so I bought a generic solar panel and it stays pretty much 100% all day. The solar panel has the flexibility of being positioned optimally for more hours of charge. It seems like setting the charge option from internal to external makes no difference as long as the solar panel is attached.

I have one on my east exposure in Florida US, so it gets \~10 hours a day of sun year round. My first one died after a year, but I think that was more due to water getting inside. I put putty over the rubber stopper where the charging port is and this one lasted 2 hurricanes and many many hot summer days without problem. They are definitely built for the sun.

Ok so here's 2 videos showing the issues. (They're joined together) First one is the c35 camera which is furthest away from the router. Alert on phone, thumbnail included and the play straight from the alert works. First time a slight delay but on the second alert almost instant playback. The second one is the s220. Missing thumbnail and the play straight from the alert times out until you click on it a second time. https://reddit.com/link/oz3y4if/video/yf2cb4n19teh1/player

r/EufyCam · Eufy detectives help me out...

The deco I've got it the BE65. I have the main one in the lounge about a metre away from where the fibre comes into the house. Then the second node is in my hallway which is separate by a thin internal wall and a staircase. Probably 4m from the main router. They're wirelessly linked. My doorbell is about 40cm from the second node. My s340 solocam is about 3m from the second node with one separating external wall. My s220 is about 3m away from my main node separated by an external wall/window. All these devices show 100% signal strength to the node they're connected to. All devices are fixed to the closest node and for those devices, fast roaming is off. They're on a 2.4ghz iot network. However, the two cheapest cameras, the c31 and c35 are out in the back garden. The c31 is about 15m away from the node and the garden is a 0.8m drop from the floor level of the lounge where the node is positioned. It's inside a rabbit hutch. The c35 is about 10m away from the closest node and at the bottom of a 0.8m drop from surface of the house again. Inside a shed. It is connected to the closest node which is through an external wall and 2 internal walls. Both these cameras are also showing 1 line less than full on their wifi connection to the node. BUT these two cameras are the best performing and never have any faults like missing thumbnails or lack of playback straight from the phone alert. The one and only obvious difference between the ones that are working flawlessly and the ones that aren't is that the two cheap cameras, which technically have worse signal to the router and are further away, is that they use micro SD cards. No idea if that's anything to do with it. When I next get an alert on my screen, I'll screen record the video playback from the alert to show you.

r/EufyCam · Eufy detectives help me out...

So another update. I've been off the last day or 2 so I've been playing around. I've turned all camera live view settings to auto. The two cheapest and most basic eufy cameras will stream to my echo show 15 screen. All the more expensive and feature-rich cameras such as the doorbell, s340 solocam and s220 won't show on the Alexa screen. It says can't connect to camera. Check power or network. Both echo show and all the camera are on the iot network 2.4ghz. https://preview.redd.it/cs7450f6jqeh1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96e574e1d443d256f663cf3b72007d9f88a696f7

r/SecurityCamera · Security cameras/Systems that don’t have long lags when switching to live view?

That delay is mostly the battery-camera tradeoff, tbh, not just an Eufy or Arlo problem. I dealt with this after mixing battery cams and powered cams, and the powered ones opened faster because they were already awake and streaming. You can try stronger RSSI, shorter clip cooldowns, higher motion sensitivity, and disabling battery-saving modes, but it still will not feel like a wired camera. If live view speed is the priority, a Reolink PoE camera system or another wired NVR setup is the cleaner fix. Battery and solar cams are better for alerts than instant checking.

I just got a pair of s220. They are my first ever security cameras but I’ve been using Wi-Fi since the 90s. In basic testing so far, they easily reach over 10ft passed the nearest external wall. But I don’t know yet how much further than that. Response speeds are excellent, to multiple devices. Including notifications to devices not on Wi-Fi. I’d get one from a store with easy returns to try out.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy s340 keeps shutting down

Could be temperature could also be lack of good sunlight. Extreme cold is pretty harsh on batteries. Also fall and winter means less direct sunshine on the solar panel. I gave up on the solar panels for my s340's. I don't feel they are large enough to properly run and charge the S340. I am lucky that I have outlets right next to where I mounted the cameras, so I got a USB C outdoor charger that plugs in and runs the cameras. I moved the s340 solar panels to my backyard S220 cameras, and those panels can't even keep those far simpler cameras charged. If you do not have a source of nearby AC power (within 6m), you could try some much larger solar panels with a USB C output. Plenty on Amazon in the 10-15w range.

r/EufyCam · Thoughts about eufy cam outdoor camera,s220

I just joined as I bought a eufy S220 4-cam pack. It looks very impressive, but the documentation was very skimpy and mostly only covers the more obvious outward physical aspects of the camera. There are no technical specs given - I understand that they are 2.4 WiFi, but there are no indications of how to receive or display the 4 pictures. Assume there is some sort of multiplexing or separation if simultaneous viewing is possible, which I hope and is possible with other security cameras. A youtube tutorial goes into detail about using these with a cellphone (!) - how can 4 tiny videos be followed comfortably? I wish to display the video on a computer, not a cellphone - in fact, I do not even have a cellphone, just a landline. If this has really been designed for cellphone only, why wasn't this explained - is there an adapter available to use the S220 with a computer? Otherwise, I am afraid I have four high-tech paperweights. Please help me understand what I have here and how I can use it.

It’s to wall mount the camera, unscrew it, screw to the wall, screw it back in, and then screw the camera to it. Lots of screwing.

Same. Happens all the time with my S220’s. The clips will appear in events hours later. Tried contacting Eufy support about it but nothing happened. Only solution is to delete and reinstall the app, but that’s not practical when it happens multiple times per day

    r/Tapo · Tapo C425 vs Eufy S220

Might be a bit late, but So I've been testing a few cameras including these two the past month. These two were pretty evenly matched to me after having them up side by side a couple days, but I'd personally go with the eufy due to the inbuilt solar panel looking much smarter and tidy. Just a note, I was ready to stick with the eufy but then noticed that there were a couple of pretty obvious motion events that the Tapo was picking up which the eufy missed and vice versa (tapo was missing more overall). Things like a big van turning around in plain sight, or my neighbour walking her dog straight across the view of the camera.  After watching [this video](https://youtu.be/Z57XECVqaUc) I spent a bit extra on the Tapo C465 (updated version of C460) which captures absolutely everything and has a solar panel inbuilt on top.

    r/EufyCam · S220 Google Home Routine

No, the Google Home integration pretty much just gives you live view, you cannot adjust the settings within the Eufy app. Google Home's Home/Away modes do not link to Eufy's Home/Away modes and any associated settings.

    r/EufyCam · Eyft Security S220 (without Homebase)

At the moment, the Eufy Android app does not have widgets to change between modes. You can link the Eufy Security as a service within Google Home, and you can view live feeds from the Google home app. However, I find the experience to be quite poor. Note that my devices go via the NVR or Homebase, so I can't say for sure if the same applies to cameras directly on WiFi. Playback often takes quite a few seconds to load compared to the native Eufy app, and more often than not, it might not load at all. Since the S220 is a battery powered camera, constantly loading live playback will reduce battery life, and the Google home app is not able to playback past events like you would on a nest cam, so you'd still be pretty reliant on the native app. Again, this could be due to the recordings being on a home base or NVR, so maybe someone with a camera recording to local SD and integrated to Google home can chime in to see whether event playback is supported or not.

    r/EufyCam · Tapo C425 vs Eufy S220

Tapo: better app Eufy: better cameras I this case u also have some differences in the cameras, one has lights, the other doesn't..but one has solar panels (not good ones IMO). I bought 2 S220 for 85 euros, but sent them back for 2 E30 for 140. that has a revisited solar panel that helps avoiding delamination, plus they are 360 with motion tracking. If you don't have a strict budget, I would consider these.

    r/EufyCam · Anyone having outage/downtime?

I've had 3 x S100 wall light / camera combo's installed since June with no issues. I added three S220 cameras to my network this morning and all was fine until I checked the live feed around 12 noon / 1pm and at that point realised nothing was working. I hadn't had issues previously so I assumed I had caused an issues somehow when adding the three cameras. I spent 2 wasted hours trying to work out what had gone wrong before I realised there were issues at Eufy. It's just really bad timing that this happened today.

Okay thanks for that. The battery percentage went down to 95% in just a few hours. So I restarted the camera and now the battery is back to 100%. If they don’t start solar charging until under 97% then that all makes sense. I’ll give it a week and see. Thanks again.

r/EufyCam · Solocam S220 battery level lately. Is an external solar panel the cure?

Thanks for this. I read they will be releasing a version 5.0.40 (soon I hope) to fix it. On the Play Store it looks like this new version also broke notification speed, so they have to fix both issues in 5.0.40. They need to put new beta APK's, and older ones online someplace so Eufy fans can test and roll back, instead of pushing junk versions to everyone :(

Ya I too am actually actually thinking about going towards the more cost efficient s220 and e220 combo with the homebase. They don’t have the radar sensor but at the end of the day… $$$ ya know what I mean..🤷🏼‍♂️

    r/EufyCam · Eufy s220 with homebase vs s3 pro

I’ve had both. Honestly, the color max night vision is awesome! It’s great, but honestly, if you want to save slot of money, I would just get the s220 as it’s a very capable device but at 2k resolution and b/w night vision. I had some trouble charging my s3 pro”s. Advice I received was to add a solar panel to the solar panel s3 pro. So if that is any help? 🤷🏼‍♂️

r/EufyCam · Help me understand homebase

From my understanding the HB3 creates its own 2.4Ghz (hidden SSID) wifi, if the camera is too far the connection struggles... Now, The HB3 has 2 modes "Performance" and "Standard". "Performance" is stronger and goes further. Just be aware you now have 2 wifi's and they can **interfere** with each other. the HB3 can cause your smart home devices (plugs, lights, etc) to start losing connection or slow to respond. I have HB3 and 6 outdoor cameras (2 S340's, 3 S220's and 1 E30)... Only 1 S340 and 3 S220's are connected to the HB3 (**"Standard Mode"**) because of the interference to my House Wifi devices. This setup is working good for me... 4 cameras are quick to respond with HB3 connection and the other 2 cameras and my smart devices have good connection to house wifi and respond fast also. I don't need all the different AI features... no cars driving through my yard, no pets, no crying babies, just person and/or motion detection will do. I really think the HB3 may not be necessary... unless you need to save a few months of video. I'm just sayin

r/EufyCam · Does the solar panel keep the battery at 100 or is it less?

I had an S220 for a couple of years and just replaced it with an S340. Anyways.... I don't recall how day it would drop before it would start charging but every time I'd look at it, it would be at or near 100%. I don't believe it ever dropped below 97% but I remember looking at the graph for a 30 day period and the line dipped very little in the graph showing how much power it had for those 30 days. Just made sure you put it in good sunlight and as direct as you can get the panel to that sunlight.

r/EufyCam · Does the solar panel keep the battery at 100 or is it less?

I would agree if it is staying at 97% that’s good. Like many electronics with batteries they have settings to stop things from going to 100% because it is much harder on a batteries life span. For instance we only charge or electric vehicle to 80% every day and only ever put it to 100% when getting ready for a long trip or all day driving.

Nonsense. Electronics in 2025 have the ability to regulate the amount of power they draw from the charger. If eufy is using tech from 2 decades ago, they don't deserve our money. And my replacement camera has been working fine for almost 2 months on the same solar panel.

Eufy uses 3W solar panels for a reason. If you are supply too much voltage (and therefore getting higher wattage due to resistance of electronic circuit - OHMS LAW!) then you will eventually fry your eufy cam with a 5W output solar panel.

Hi, I have a rookie question about the Eufy S220 Solocam. I noticed mine isn’t charging with the solar panel either. Should I change the app setting to ‘external power source,’ or is it fine to keep it on ‘Battery’? I’m unsure since the solar panel is built into the camera, not external. Also, does keeping it on ‘Battery’ prevent the charging chart from showing in the dashboard?
