I am connected by ethernet cable, no multibridge rt not connected 24/7. I tried with a single camera recorded on homebase 3, the problem is still the same. I don't think another homebase will solve the problem.

    r/EufyCam · Need help s3 pro

I'm going to test. But if it only works well wired, what's the point in taking the S3 Pro, especially at these prices. You might as well take cheaper wired models. Maybe they will update this issue soon.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro installation

I have the same ones, you have to know that you still need a good sun that hits well to be able to recharge them. And most importantly, it makes them go in the right direction from the sun. Otherwise, I've encountered a big lag problem in direct streams and a lot of cuts. The cameras are installed about 6 meters from the HB3. I don't know if this is your case too ?

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Cam quality

I think the quality of the s3 pro especially for the zoom is a disaster I took 4, which I plan to return to get a refund honestly

All eufy panels delaminate. luckily thats just the edge and not the actual solar panel so it shouldnt affect the charge or waterproofness. If you contact support they should replace the cameras for you

    r/EufyCam · Spotlight question (S3 Pro)

in video settings it shows you what each setting would look like if that option is selected. and under spotlight settings you can have the light turn on if motion is detected. I use day like and dont have the spotlight turn on. Eufy like to over complicate and over crowd their UI for reasons.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Durability

Nobody is saying its acceptable, it shouldnt delaminate ever. You are in warranty so contact them and get it replaced

r/EufyCam · Update after testing Eufy.

I can't tell if you got paid for this post or every eufy camera device I have ever purchased has defects in one form or another. I have four S3 pros and they constantly lose connection and miss entire events. I have gone through every thread on Reddit and every website I could find troubleshooting. I have toggled dozens of router settings and changed placements of HB3 many times. I now have all four cameras wired to constant powers and they are still problematic. Kudos to you if you got a golden sample

    r/EufyCam · Need help s3 pro

I had the same problem with my four S3 pros when I got them. If you connect the cameras to power through the USBC connector almost all issues are resolved. With direct power the performance is 10 times better as far as connectivity and detection.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro in Action

I had trouble exporting full videos until a fix was installed a while ago. However, I found that it's easy enough to do a screen recording on my phone to get the full video.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro HomeKit problem

I've heard multibridge is problematic, have you tried turning it off? The HomeBase 3 runs a hidden 2.4 ghz network. Your Aqara has dual band and might be connecting via 5 ghz. The S3s only use 2.4 ghz. Your HomeBase and Unifi might be colliding on the 2.4 ghz band. Run an RF scan in your Unifi and make sure they aren't on the same channel. Hardcode a clear channel on the Unifi separate from the HomeBase.

    r/EufyCam · Familiar Faces accuracy on HomeBase 3 + S3 Pro - Can I train it better?

Yes, you select only alarm on the sensors, not the cams. I think your only issue is getting spurious notifications and you're not going to be happy with the facial AI. There's no setting to only get alerts for confidently NOT a familiar face, which is closer to what you want. Instead, use geofencing or schedule to disable alerts when people should be home. Switch it to a vacation mode when you expect to be gone. If you have no reliable schedule, then you're stuck dealing with the alerts or remembering to switch modes.

r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro. Amy better solar panels than the Eufy 3w one?

r/EufyCam · Update after testing Eufy.

Thats correct. So the tradeoff for not doing so is missing a significant number of important events. Nobody realises how many events they are missing until a crime is committed or something and they desperately need every second of footage.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Cam quality

Every frame counts. I often find 25fps at 4k isnt enough. 15fps is just over half fhat. The bitrate also significantly reduces the amount of information available. ftr, most PoE reolink cameras are 25fps/8mbps. But the wireless ones are all 20fps, with the really cheap ones also being 15fps. Its not enough. I've had to use CCTV as evidence enough times to know that 15fps would make me completely reconsider. The difference between 20 and 25fps, while it doesn't seem like much, is actually the difference in being able to read a licence plate or identity a person

r/EufyCam · Since s3 pro wireless cannot be trusted

I dare you to be very meticulous with your testing I used to believe it was working - until ai noticed it does not - consistently and when I did targeted testing I can see the failure percentage 70%ish is just not “good enough” I could easily miss break ins

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Battery Drain after update

You can see the # of detections in the app so I suggest to monitor continuously BTW every issue I raised with CS, it would always "go" to senior tech and r&d team and If you insist enough, they will replace the camera This does not mean anything Good luck, I was seeing somewhat bigger drain but since I disassociated cameras from HB3 AI it has stabilised

r/EufyCam · Since s3 pro wireless cannot be trusted

It’s a lot of small things Same path, detects people - well within normal eufy miss rates - but pretty constantly misses mailman for whichever reason Disconnects/ offline, somewhat more than the other cameras, sometimes I think it off the wifi bridge Lately I have been monitoring battery degradation it reports and it is going down faster than others On the plus side happy with night vision If you accept that eufy is camera system but not security system ( for that the detection rates/ stability would have to be much higher) you will sleep better funnily enough There are newer models now anyway

r/EufyCam · Why would my s3 pro constantly miss the postman on the way to the house

I hear you but my thinking here is that if it detects the person walking away it should detect it walking towards on the same path, it is clearly able to My suspicion is that a micro movement in the detection area ( especially if is treated as other movement, which I did not enable) makes the camera sleep for a certain period - to save battery I suppose- and perhaps perhaps wired would help there if it did not do that - if my hypothesis is correct With wired 24/7 recording, If events are not notified, I am not sure it would help me much, I am not going to stare at live view all the time 😂

    r/EufyCam · Purple S3 Pro camera feed

I had this issue as well with a brand new s3 pro. These steps didnt work for me but you can try lightly taping or flicking the camera around the lens area to try and reset the IR filter. Hard factory resetting the camera by rapidly clicking the sync button 5 times, it should flicker the IR LEDs. I ended up contacting support and they quickly replaced it.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro set up

Yes. Ya it sucks it doesnt work the way its supposed to. The problem is the ai can detect human shapes faster than it can identify a face. So if you have ignore notifications on it will still send you a human detected notification but if it identifies who it is it wont send you that information which in my opinion makes it worse. I feel like eufy could fix this simply by intentionally delaying notifications so it can give the system time to possibly identify a known person and therefore not send you any notification like how its supposed to work.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro

Its one of the best eufy cameras ive owned. If you have at least some ambient lighting the night vision is awesome. Very well worth it. If you can I would recommend wiring it as it becomes even better.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro cam having issue. Possible swap for S42

So what's your issue with the facial recognition, and are you having any other problems with the camera? If its just facial recognition, switching to a different camera won't help as thats controlled via the HB3 and not the camera itself.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy solocam s220

Plugging this camera model in will only charge the battery and nothing else. It will not give you the choice for "wired mode" like the S3 pro does when wired.

r/EufyCam · S380/HB3 AI Empowerment vs S3 Pro camera AI?

The S3 pro has no on board AI. It cant work without the HB3 so the HB3 AI is the S3 pros AI. The only reason the S3 pro specifically may have better detection accuracy is because it uses both a PIR and radar sensor together.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro set up

The ignore known face notifications has never worked properly and probably never will at this point. Youll probably have to edit your home and away modes to get the system to behave the way you want. I have custom modes for when im working outside ill put it in so I dont get endless notifications.

r/EufyCam · wifi bridge and homebase 3 connection issue

I have a similar setup as you. I have multiple s3 pros between 15 and 25 ft from the homebase all using multibridge so utilizing my wifi 2.4ghz connection to connect to homebase. The wired s3 pros live view are always instant and the one on battery usually takes just a few seconds. Its possible to have a fast system if you have the right setup. First off according to your speed test results you were connected to your 5ghz wifi, the cameras use 2.4 so this doesnt tell us anything. You need to connect to your 2.4 and run some speed tests next to an s3 pro and this should tell us what we need to do next.

    r/EufyCam · S3 pro x4

Do you have them wired and doing 24/7 recording? Are you using the multibridge feature where you set up your wifi for the cameras to connect to? I am also experiencing lag and stuttering during live view. Chatgpt says with my current setup, im maxing out the hardware capabilities of the homebase 3, and that's what's most likely causing it. I have the new homebase ordered, and im hoping the upgraded hardware will resolve the issues.

    r/EufyCam · Need help s3 pro

Don't use multibridge. It will make the connection more unstable. Only use the the homebase 3 connection.

    r/EufyCam · HB3 or not / S3 pro PIR and Radar ?

You do not need a HB3 with the solocam S220 but you will get additional features with it. I have 3 S3 pros and I have really enjoyed them. Definitely eufys best camera release so far. The motion detection is very good and accurate, I get almost no false alerts.

r/EufyCam · Not able to turn off notifications on Solocam S220

Support is next to useless. This isn't a problem but by design. For whatever reason, only wired cameras allow you to choose what notifications get pushed. Not even their flagship S3 pro, even in wired mode, has this feature, but yet my 5 year old wired camera does..

    r/EufyCam · Eufy Security - very unstable

My S3 Pros work fine on my network. Firewalla, UniFi switches and APs. But honestly, if it’s brand new and you’re struggling with it already, returning it may be the best option for you.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro absolutely horrible battery life

I’m using the S3 Pro along with the external solar panel. Gets about about 3 hours of sun per day. I average 80 one minute recording per day. It hasn’t gone below 95%. If you can, add the external panel, position it well, and hopefully that can solve your issues. I have 6 S3 Pro’s in total and none are experiencing what you’re dealing with.

r/EufyCam · Question about S3 Pro and external solar panels …

Just to slightly correct your reply, it doesn’t appear when using third party or eufy’s micro usb panels. It does show solar charging when using the external panel that is included with the S3 Pro, as well as the ones eufy sells on eBay.

    r/EufyCam · S3Pro + Apple HomeKit

Will depend on the quality of the signal between the S3 Pro and the HB3, or your WiFi access point if you use multi bridge feature. I have four on one HB3. I’ve noticed that if all four get a ton of activity, the cameras will go no response in Apple Home. This didn’t happen when I was running two, but started after I added two more. They remain working fine in the eufy app. A reboot of the HB3 immediately fixes it. Overall I am happy with the S3 Pro. I use battery but if you are able to hardwire them for power they can do 24/7 recording in eufy.

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Inconsistent Recording

In my experience, when using battery / solar, going lower than 15 minutes doesn’t work well. Even at 15 minutes I’ll still get gaps like you are, but going down to 3 minutes it got even worse. And the hit to battery was noticeable (unless you’ve got excellent sun exposure).

    r/EufyCam · S3 Pro + Eero advice

5 of my 6 S3 Pros are using multi bridge, and all 5 will periodically go offline, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a couple of days. I think this is a flaw in their WiFi connection implementation when using multi bridge.

    r/EufyCam · EufyCam over wifi

I’m assuming you’re using battery / solar but say if you’re hardwired. It could be the position of your cameras. Motion needs to move across the FOV (Left <—> Right) for optimal motion detection. If motion is moving towards the camera, these types of cameras often struggle with that. You’ll never catch the *very* beginning, but it sounds like you’re not as optimized as you could be. I also use S3 Pros.

    r/EufyCam · Thoughts on the eufyCam S3 Pro 2?

I’ll assume you’re referring to the S3 Pro, 2-cam set. I have a few of the S3 Pro’s and happy with them. I did find that optimal viewing angle was not optimal charging angle, so also using the external solar panels.

    r/EufyCam · Multi-Bridge Isuues

I have the S3 Pro using multi bridge and a camera that is far from the HB3. Every once in a long while it’ll fall off WiFi. But typically it’ll reconnect on its own around 24 hours later. What are you experiencing exactly?

    r/EufyCam · Spotlight question (S3 Pro)

I’m still not clear on, for example the following: - “Daylike” night vision setting with Spotlight Motion activation enabled versus - “Spotlights” night vision setting

    r/EufyCam · Bigger solar panel?

Something to be aware of, that using third party panels, or even eufy’s original panels with the micro USB to USB C adapter, results in the panel not appearing in the app. It won’t show the panel icon, and in the solar charging section the app won’t show any data. Just an FYI.

    r/EufyCam · eufy S3 Pro 2-pack with HB3 vs Solocam S220 2-pack with HB3

As a pretty new user of the S3 Pro, I can say I am pretty impressed by the color night vision. With even just a little bit of light, you can get amazing images. Even a full moon on a clear night was able to provide enough light. I don’t know if the S220 has the multi bridge feature, but this is another feature I really like of the S3 Pro. I am able to have a camera far from the HB3, but with solid WiFi connectivity, and it works really well.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro and External Solar Panel Questions

I’ll give you another data point. The eufy external panels that have the micro usb connector also don’t appear when connected to the S3 (using the adapters). The also didn’t seem to charge the camera well. It was at 96% for days and never increased despite sunny days. When connecting the eufy panels that have the USB C connector, they do show up and do a good job charging. That same camera went from 96% to 100% in about 2 hours.

r/EufyCam · Are these the correct adapters and weather plug to use my existing eufy solar panel, with the S3 Pro?

I *think* it came with the eufy solar panel. Eufy will sell the USB C adapter, but only in white. I don’t think they sell the weather plug. Let me complain about eufy for just a moment: solar panels bought a few years ago did not include these two items, only with panels I bought within the last year or so. It’s absurd that eufy wouldn’t sell the necessary parts, or give them for free, to use their solar panel with their newer cameras.

r/EufyCam · S340 Best Eufy Wireless Solar Cam?

I like the S340; I have 4 in use and 1 spare (that I rotate in as a replacement during the winter, when battery doesn't charge enough.) The tracking mode is nice and face recognition works. Normal every day recording works fine (I use Optimal Surveillance mode for my S340s.) However, there a few things that aren't working correctly for me... (1) multi-bridge settings - I defined my WIFI SSID as the multi-bridge entry to the HomeBase 3, but once and a while the settings goes back to HomeBase; does not happen with the S3 Pro. I believe this is an existing bug. (2) One of the features of the S340 is to record locally when the HB3 is down; when the connection is restored, the video stored on the S340 is supposed to be uploaded to the HB3 and then available in the Events for viewing. It didn't work for me. I tested it by powering off the HB3 for 1 hr. Reconnecting the power and after 2 hrs. checked the events. The 1 hr. interval of events is missing from the Events tab. (3) They took away the "Daylike" mode from Night Vision. (4) The app no longer shows the last recorded event of the S340 on the dashboard (the events are recorded and available via Events tab though.) The S3 Pro and C2 Pro show the last event correctly on the dashboard.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy Security - very unstable

I have five S3 Pros in use without issue (i.e. Live View works via WIFI and 4G/5G). In the IOS app, what does the app say for the WIFI connection quality? Have you check WIFI channels (i.e. may be congestion/interference issue with your router(s) or neighbours? Have you set up the multi-bridge function?

r/EufyCam · S340 will not charge if extremely cold

It's the lithium battery. These small lithium batteries stop working around -20C (give or take). Takes time to bring it back to a temperature where it can charge. It is annoying as I'm in Ottawa and it hit -30C earlier today. It's now -20C and my cameras (S340s and S3 Pros) are functioning while my Alro cameras (to be replaced) are not. I have an extra S340 and during the winter, I swap out any S340 when it reaches less than 10% charge. Also, I found out that the Eufy solar panel (that comes with the S340) will not charge the S340 when the temperature hits around -10C.

    r/EufyCam · S340 USB C extension cord troubles

I tried a couple of 3rd. party cables, but couldn't find one that works with the S340 or S3 Pro that would show the solar panel icon on the screen. I'm about to see how well a 26ft daisy-chained set of cables works with a S3 Pro using the Eufy 3W solar panel that comes a 6th. cable attached and two 10ft. extension cables. The connectivity works when I put everything together in the basement, but I haven't tried it outdoors yet.

    r/EufyCam · Thoughts on the eufyCam S3 Pro 2?

I assume you mean S3 Pro 2-cam setup as there is no S3 Pro 2. I have quite a few S3 Pro cameras. They work very well. While if comes with a built-in solar panel, I added the 3W Eufy solar panel to them and they keep their charge very well. If you wire the camera to a USB cable and direct power, it will allow 24/7 recording. There was an issue of the S3 Pro cameras occasionally going offline, but since updating the firmware on the S3 Pro cameras and the HB 3 (and then removing and then re-adding them back), I haven't experienced the problem. I've had my S3 Pro cameras since last October. If you are planning on buying, buy them when they are on sale on Amazon (lightning deal). Also, if not happy, you can always return to Amazon within 30 days.

r/EufyCam · eufy S3 Pro cameras and door lock S3 Max all go offline every couple days. HomeBase stays online, restarts don't help. Out of ideas.

I've had this problem a few months ago; from what I recall so did others. What I did was make sure I had the latest firmware on the HB3 and the S3 Pro cameras. I then removed the S3 Pro cameras and then re-added them, I haven't had the problem since. The latest firmware for HB3 is [3.8.2.0](http://3.8.2.0) and for the S3 Pro is 3.1.5.2. If you try this, remember to turn off the Anti-Theft Detection on the S3 Pro first... I forgot to do that on the first camera.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro

They are worth getting, especially if you can get them on sale (either separately or in a bundle with a HomeBase 3). I have three. The only issue I've encountered is if you multi-bridge them. When multi-bridged, they appear to go offline occasionally (I don't know if the software gets confused - i.e. the constant checking on which signal is stronger). If you simply connect it to a HomeBase 3, it's fine. There is a thread on this somewhere in this /sub.

r/EufyCam · Homebase 3 / Wifi mesh for big house?

I didn't think about that, but I believe you would lose the AI functions since it's liked to the HB3. I guess you could always add another HB3, although each would have their own face recognition.

r/EufyCam · Homebase 3 / Wifi mesh for big house?

The S3 Pro supports mutli-bridge (two connection methods). Go to the camera settings and under General->Wi-Fi Connections, you will see a section for configuring Edge Ecosystem (intended for the HomeBase) and a second fsection or Configure Wi-Fi (intended for your WIFI network). I have two S3 Pro cameras configured this way (Asuswrt-Merlin AiMesh). Not sure how well it works (i.e. the automatically switching, if one connection method goes down). The S330 doesn't support mutli-bridge.

    r/EufyCam · Undecided between S330 and S3 Pro

I use 2x S3 pros, and I love them. I have one in the front garden and the other in the back. My oldest one was bought in Oct 2024, and the image quality is as good as the day I installed it. The integrated solar panel is still looking like new on both as well. This is in the UK (so lots of rain), it's faced some very hot weather, particularly this year and now this week (which is looking like 30c+), and some very cold, freezing weather where the lens had frozen over all night due to water freezing over the entire body. So far, they are still holding up great. The front one is plugged in, so that's recording 24/7, and the rear one is relying on solar (with an extra eufy external solar panel), so it's event recording only. The MaxColor colour night vision is so worth the extra money, image quality in extremley low light is amazing with no LED on, with just a single white LED street lamp outside my house, it's extremley dark to the human eye to the point where you can barley even read a number plate at a distance, to the camera it's almost like early daylight and those numberplates are very easy to see and read. For the camera in the back where it's almost pitch black, it still needs to use it's built in white LED light on that, but when it's on, it's a very bright and pretty sharp colour image even at a decent distance. If I had to buy them again, I would. For me, in the UK they are on offer as well with Eufy, not sure about other countries, so if they are, now is a good time to buy them.

Same issue here. I contacted support but only got the generic response of changing sensitivity, charging and resetting. None of which worked, especially considering I know this must be firmware related - unchanged settings for about 8 months no issues until the update. Check your battery graphs (consumption), for me it shows massive increase in motion detection, however no recordings. Change in sensitivity obviously did not change anything either. Unfortunately haven't figured out a solution either other than waiting for new update to hopefully fix the issue.

Hi, in the settings under "Smart" in the automation options, you can configure the camera (you can select which one) to also trigger an alarm sound or light when the Homebase alarm is triggered. You can choose between sound and light, sound only, or light only. We have the Homebase 3 and the S3 Pro, as well as door and motion sensors. This works very well. I have it set up this way in "Away" mode.

Get the eufyCam E40. It has color night vision, but no radar motion detection, and resolution is 2K instead of 4K. But it's 25 fps vs the S3 Pro's 15 fps which makes a notable difference. It's also not as heavy as the S3 Pro, so it's more likely to stay in position on its mount.

My friend, you alone can replace whole Eufy support team! I’ve done the full reset, re-added cameras and ta-dam, it’s been 10 days already - and both are at 100%. Same locations, angles, activity zones! And I only today noticed I had them in Optimal Surveillance mode instead of Optimal Battery life! It’s a miracle! I also have one external solar panel, which was included into the pack - will add it to one of the cameras to see how helpful it will be. And if it’ll be nice - will get second one! Thanks again, you are a saviour!

r/EufyCam · Recommendations for best 4 camera wireless system

I've been working with eufy on this for almost a year. Had cameras and Homebase units swapped... Same issue. It's either a hardware problem or software. I honestly think the hardware in the HB3 isn't powerful enough to encode/decode. I wish they would allow you to turn off encryption. I don't see why it is needed. I even bought an eero 7 outdoor AP to see if my wifi was the issue...short story, it is not. If I were you, return it.

Screw it into soffit or facia. I'd you so the soffit...just make sure there is Wood behind it. I did this, looks great. Side yard is a bit high... But all good

    r/EufyCam · Glitchy Cameras 😫

I get this too. S3 pro system too. Been dealing with support, but I hate to say this whole system is junk. I now use my old nest cameras as backups for when Rudy fails.... As I know it will. I wish I could return this. Worst purchase I've ever done

r/EufyCam · Recommendations for best 4 camera wireless system

S3 pro sucks. Not sure about the rest but don't waste your money. Mine is unreliable, when it does work....frames skip like crazy...aka you see someone then 5 seconds goes by in an instant and they are gone from the next frame. The best feature is the spotlight on motion, it scares people off. As a security camera it's not at all reliable enough. I have 6, 2 home base units. Tried disabling their wifi and using my wifi, etc etc. nothing works. I am planning to return to Nest. I get free nest aware with my phone now anyways, so having a reliable snapshot, motion video, and live view is much more appealing. Eufy also doesnt support home home platforms like homey, and the ones it does support barely work because the issues mentioned above. Not clue about other models, but the S3 pro is terrible

r/EufyCam · Since s3 pro wireless cannot be trusted

Lol. To be fair I haven't setup my front yard camera yet... And it's on the other side of the house. I expect this one to be hard. But the rest work perfectly. The first night I had my dad walk through the back yard and the spot light lit up and he was identified.

r/EufyCam · Just got a eufy solocam s340, should I get homebase 3 ? Will it perform better with it?

HB3 is better, just be careful how much you pour into the EUFY ecosystem, I spent a bit more than I should have and am starting to regret it, for high traffic areas, they get pinged hard and use up the charge, I went form 100% down to 70% in 1 day, these are supposed to be 180 day charge cameras (S3 Pro). This also has an additional solar panel connected, the thing is we're in Autumn now so less sun, will be worse during winter, I bought a Reolink POE 2 cam setup that will do 24/7. So to answer you q, HB3 is better, I found much better response, you should never have more than 6 cams per homebase, I have HB2 and HB3, I use the HB2 for all the 2 cams, and the HB3 for all the 3 cams. I turn off all AI. If you have a low traffic area where you're not needing crucial recordings, a HB2 should be fine, if you want that extra certainty that you will get everything (the 3 does more than the 2 when it comes to AI) then the 3 is better. See how you go with the 2.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro with external 3rd party solar panel.

Yeah they have outright lied to me, I might change the other panel back which is a OG USB lead that I have an adapter for USB C, I have 2 USB C panels and I think they're just not working with these Pro 3s. Still I got the blame from the seller who told me not to buy the EUFY panels, I mean when you get it wrong, you just get it wrong, I will change it over now.,

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro with external 3rd party solar panel.

You have the S3 Pro or a diff camera? Issue is the told me it's ok to do so, then reject my warranty claim, I mean when you simply lie to customers, don't blame them for your mistake. Every other cam I have works with with aftermarket solar panels, just the S3 Pros don't seem to. I went a diff brand and it was a ton cheaper too.

r/EufyCam · Looking to invest in a Eufy, but have specific questions on storage

I invested heavily in EUFY and regret it, so much so returned 3 cams, I am stuck with 2 other cams and a HB3. They still work, but I use them in low critical areas, never again. I went for Reolink POE, the difference is night and day, the cams 15 fps vs 25 is something that makes life so much easier, especially when you need to identify anything in the footage. My S3 Pros were getting pinged so hard that the battery, even with an external solar panel was just too much for the cams, I was seeing drops of 20% in 1 day. The quality of the cams are questionable for the price too, all plastic on EUFY, where as Reolink is metal housing. I am warning you, you will regret going EUFY, especially when they all start to lag. On my phone, my Reolink Wifi cams are pretty much instant too, the POE are instant, even when I am away from home, with EUFY it can be 3-4 seconds before I can see them online. I still use the EUFY where I cannot use POE, extremely low traffic areas, but once again, I will never rely on EUFY brand again, and I have had teh HB2 for 4 years as well, just that something happened at my home where I needed a security upgrade and EUFY was way below the expected performance level. Fwiw I was buying 2 Reolink CX820s for the price of 1 EUFY S3 Pro. The issue is you need to be able to get the POE wiring done, it's tedious, but once in place, it's set and forget.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Battery Drain after update

I've had three S3s for three months. Everything was fine. One day, without noticing it, the battery drained with the same settings. First one, then the other. The third one was fine. I've had several other Eufy battery cams for several years, including the Homebase v2. They've never stopped working, even in the coldest temperatures, and the ones without solar panels haven't required rapid charging. The latest generation, connected to the Homebase 3, can randomly discharge within 24 hours. Logically, I assumed it was less temperature-resistant, as there were freezing temperatures and no sunlight. However, after recharging, at +15°C (59°F) and in bright, truly bright sunlight, it can also discharge. One in 24 hours, the others in 48 hours or a little longer. It's not the configuration's fault (I disabled all detection and recordings for testing purposes)—it doesn't matter. It still drains. Eufy has a problem, but the comments suggest they're pretending there's no problem. I'm disappointed...

    r/EufyCam · Familiar Faces accuracy on HomeBase 3 + S3 Pro - Can I train it better?

You'd see here where some users will mention that it works "perfectly" for them, while others says it's always hit and miss. For face recognition, it comes down to multiple factors. Camera angle for starters - most cameras a typically a top down setup, which puts their detection sweet spot at around 6m (30ft) for facial recognition. Then depending on how fast a subject moves into the frame of the camera or radar range, to wake the camera up, then the cameras internal logic would first analyse the frame, to assess a confidence level of "human", trigger the recording, then the homebase will try to process the video stream to try to recognize a familiar face, and tag it accordingly. If the subject has moved too quickly within the frame and hasn't looked up directly at the camera, it makes the recognition accuracy much lower. Of course some people may see a camera and naturally look at it out of curiosity, while some people have a natural tendency to shy away, so that's why you may end up with mixed results as well, and for anything faces it couldn't process, it would revert back to just tagging the subject as human. A direct front facing camera like a doorbell cam would typically get the best hits purely based on camera angle and clearer view of a subjects face as they approach your door, but this only covers one angle. On the training side of things, Eufy's training works more in reverse. For a face which it thinks is a known subject, it will tag it, then when you see the tagged face in the events, by tapping on the event itself, tap on the person face at the bottom and it would prompt whether the face is the same person or not. Unfortunately there's no option to upload more photos to improve the training. Family members who share the same genetic pool can also cause the camera to mislabel people as well, and unfortunately there's also no option to actually tell the system while they recognized and thought it's person A, that it was actually person B. This is just a limitations of the local recognition system in the Homebase3 and also their NVR. For your second question regarding sensors - yes this is definitely doable. Within the Smart tab in the app, you can select your Homebase3. This will then show a page with different modes - eg Home, Away, Disarmed etc. Each mode can be customized so you can select whether a camera records or sends notifications in that mode. Untick all the alarm options for the cameras, and enable the alarm trigger for the sensors. When the homebase enters that mode, and the sensor trips, the alarm should go off, while the cameras stick to their own recording settings.

r/EufyCam · Homebase 3 / Wifi mesh for big house?

I have the same situation as you. But my house is 2 floors and a basement. Here is my experience. When you can connect directly to the Homebase, do it as it is the fastest connection available. Yes you can do S3 Pro connected to HB3 and WiFi or some combination. You need to make sure your WiFi access is extremely strong where you instead to have your cameras. I have TP Link Deco 6 and it’s not sufficient. I have had to as a WiFi extender in my garage and on my man floor but close to my camera because the main Mesh router would not give a good enough signal thru the brick wall. Be prepared to optimize your WiFi. I had to run this optimization scan to have the WiFi prioritize other WiFi channels other than 6 and 11. It seems to be doing better now but not perfect. The cameras lose WiFi signal frequently which means I am constantly having to reconnect the camera to WiFi as when it loses WiFi connection it goes back to Homebase connection. I believe this is a camera hardware issue and not my WiFi mesh stability. Overall Eufy S3 Pro cameras are awesome quality which is why I am still sticking with them. But the routine troubleshooting is very annoying and you still will miss events or some of the live stream - sometimes it skips in the live stream but it can’t be due to network connectivity because I can prove that it is strong where the camera is sitting. This is simply the downfall of having WiFi cameras in my opinion. Without POE you have to deal with this stuff - at least that’s my impression

    r/EufyCam · Eufy s3 Pro-24 hour recording

I purchased a plug from Amazon that has a weather strip to help weather proof the connection. I ran the wire into the garage where it’s plugged in. I mounted the camera under my eavesdrop so it’s also protected from most (most of it anyway). So far no issues. I have two plugged in.

r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro external solar panel does not seem to work. No icon on app?

I’d suggest you taken it down for now and charge the unit to 100% with direct power. Once you’re at 100%. Review your settings and the location. Try removing things like snapshots and other settings that will drain your power faster to see if that makes a difference. If the camera is in an area where there a lot of movement it’s possible that solar panel can’t keep up.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy s3 pro vs (New) EufyCam E40

From what I understand you can’t have 24/7 recordings on the S3’s unless you have direct power. I purchased a 20’ power cord and drilled a small hole to run the cord into my garage so I can plug it in. I do have outdoor electrical outlets near my front and back doors but would make it easier for some to unplug the camera so it didn’t make sense to do that.

r/EufyCam · Amazon has dual S3 pro + base for $399. Need by xmas. Better to wait for black friday deals?

I have 4 S3 Pros that I got back in June. I previously had Arlos. So far my experience has been decent. Here are the issues I’ve encountered. Two cameras are plugged in to record 24/7 - One Camera at the corner of the house was dropping connection so I would miss minutes of activity. Some time the live feed was up to 8 minutes delayed. I’ve since switched that camera to connect via Wifi instead of the built in connection to the base. I saw a big improvement and has resolved most of the issues. My wifi isn’t the best at that side of the house so I’m planning to upgrade and use a mesh system to improve my wifi range which should help even more. I’m only a few months in and with some tweaks here and there I’m alright with the system so far. Honestly more positives than negatives. It’s definitely not the most reliable system in the market but an improvement from Arlo at the price range. If you’re okay with some minor inconveniences once in a while then you’ll be okay.

r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro (slow or no charging on built in solar panel) ?

Taken them down plug them in and recharge to 100%, reset set, ensure they have the latest updates and put back out - I’ve seen some people recommend this in other posts. You might not be getting enough sun, and too much activity to keep the batteries charged, so consider solar panel.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy s3 pro vs (New) EufyCam E40

I have 4 S3 Pro’s video quality is great, specially the color night vision. 24/7 only works when wired which I have two plugged in. The 24/7 feature is great. Only issues I’ve encountered is that sometimes the 24/7 recordings will jump a few seconds some times a couple of minutes. Which I believe is due to the camera loosing connection to the base. I’ll be upgrading my wifi network with a mesh system to get better connections to hopefully fix that issue. I had Arlos before and it’s nice not paying extra for 24/7. Only other complaint is the audio. The nest microphone should to pickup people talking all the way to my side walk very clearly, the S3 pro has a hard time picking that up. But still worth the switch.

    r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro installation

I mounted mine under the eavesdrop. Mine are wired but I could easily placed in the same spot and used the solar panel to power it. Personally, I like them to be as hidden as possible, they are pretty big so under the eavesdrop are perfect location, as long as you can connect a solar panel to ensure it stays charged.

r/EufyCam · Question about S3 Pro and external solar panels …

Hmm that’s interesting. My Eufy panel has the mini to c adapter. That is probably why (still not a great excuse though). But regardless of whether the app shows the charging data, it still can’t keep up with the daily consumption over the medium term. I had Tapos that charged very well with their external panels, with similar motion/recording length settings. I’ll see if the new Eufy usb c panel for S4 makes a difference when it’s available. I’d hate to ditch the $800+ investment I have in this setup.

r/EufyCam · Question about S3 Pro and external solar panels …

The S3 Pro has a usb c input. The official Eufy panels (I bought 4 total) also have usb c so it’s a direct fit into the camera. It doesn’t show charging in the app. Nor do the 2 other non-Eufy brand 5W panels I’ve tried, also with usb c connectors.

r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro external solar panel does not seem to work. No icon on app?

Neither 3rd party nor Eufy official solar panels are showing any data in the Solar Charging history graph. I also don’t see any data for the internal panel. The whole graph is blank, yet I know some combination of internal/external solar is charging as I see the blue light on the camera on during the day when the sun is out. It seems that as soon as you plug in any external panel, it kills the data collection/display for solar charging in the app. https://preview.redd.it/b00s7pghymxf1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9814650556bb321777472e4b1be8053440731ad4

It sometimes goes off to a cat or a fox strolling by. I deactivated the sound alarm and only kept the flashing light alarm. The neighbors do not mind the flashing light (actually when asked they told me they never even noticed) so it’s fine but still alarming enough to startle real threats.

I’ve had both. Honestly, the color max night vision is awesome! It’s great, but honestly, if you want to save slot of money, I would just get the s220 as it’s a very capable device but at 2k resolution and b/w night vision. I had some trouble charging my s3 pro”s. Advice I received was to add a solar panel to the solar panel s3 pro. So if that is any help? 🤷🏼‍♂️

r/EufyCam · Need help deciding S340 or S3 Pro camera bundle

Totally different uses. S340 can be corner mounted and cover 2 sides of your property. It also motion tracks etc etc. it cannot “see” motion not optically visual though. Can’t see in the pitch dark without turning its light on or using IR. Both can blind the camera if the subject gets near a wall and tracking will be lost. S3 pro is a great static came if everything you want to see is within its view. Ot also has superior F stop and night clarity with zero IR and near pitch dark. 2 cams with totally different use cases honestly.

r/EufyCam · Eufy S3 Pro external solar panel does not seem to work. No icon on app?

Have reseated it a few times. With solar panel unplugged it shows in the app as charging with sun icon and solar charge strength. But when I plug the solar panel in then it stops. On the power management dashboard over past 2 days it says 0mAH collected from both built in and external panel. However weirdly the battery percent is going up. On the graph it says power usage 0%, solar charging 0%, but battery percent is higher than previous day. So it seems like it is charging but there is some issue with it reporting it's status. All very weird!

Solar battery cams are awesome for not having to deal with wires, but yeah, their motion sensors usually don’t cover as much ground. Plus, since they only record when something moves, you miss out on constant footage. I’m switching all mine to powered cams with 24/7 recording—totally worth it for the peace of mind, no more wondering if they caught everything or if the battery’s charged enough.

I recharged all cameras via usb, I then uninstalled and re-installed the eufy app. I restarted my phone then went to the home base settings, and restarted the device. I was testing the Tapo solar cameras last month and they were able to supply a screen shot every second for 24 hours/day and maintain 100% charge. The video was stored internally in the camera and played very smoothly. Unfortunately the Tapo app is poorly thought out and very cumbersome to use. So I'm going to guess the Eufy cameras have wifi issues - which cause flakiness when pinging the HomeBase.

Given your Home Assistant note, tbh I would lean [Reolink Argus 4 Pro](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=Reolink%2BArgus%2B4%2BPro%2Bhub) unless the Eufy app experience matters more than everything else. I went through a similar upgrade decision, and the familiar brand was tempting, but integration quality ended up mattering more day to day. [eufyCam S3 Pro](https://featherab.com/shopit?q=eufyCam%2BS3%2BPro%2Bhub) makes sense if you want to stay in the Eufy ecosystem and keep the app workflow close to what you know. Reolink Argus 4 Pro is the more interesting pick if cost and Home Assistant are priorities. Either way, WiFi battery cams are still a compromise, so I would avoid expecting true wired-camera reliability from either one.

I just bought the system, got a deal (starting to see why, lol). I’m seeing the same problems all over Reddit—glitchy starts, battery/sleep delay, etc. Lots of tuning to do. My biggest friction was the storage and the archive mess. To me, it’s unsortable without any degree of clarity. Just one big list of gibberish. I just automated that for myself—forced it to rename to what I call my cameras and kept the dates/times logical. Now if I miss 3-5 days, I just archive and POOF, the program does the lifting. I was wondering if this is a normal problem, or if the mess is intentional so users just pay for a cloud service? I’m going to keep refining my process as I find issues. I’m a 'one click get er done' type of guy and I just don’t trust the cloud with data that doesn't need to be out there. Happy to be here and see what else bugs you guys so I can tune my fix. Anyone else dealing with the storage headaches or log issues?

Thank you for the quick reply. I should've mentioned about them being battery / solar cameras. Most of the events are something moving across the FOV. One recording was when someone spent some time in my truck (I forgot to lock it), but the camera only caught them when they were walking away. Do you know if it has to establish a connection to the homebase before it starts recording? i.e. no buffer in the camera?

I think the way the system works is if the camera senses motion, it will start sending the live feed to to the homebase. The homebase will than review the feed and if you have it set to detect human and if it thinks it's detecting a human, it will send a notification and start saving the recording. If it doesn't think it detects a human (or whatever other setting you have), it will just ignore it and not save. That being said, if the connection is bad, the feed that the homebase is seeing may be delayed or just bad to the point where it can't detect anything. But there is also a chance for the person who was snooping in your car just didn't look like a person to the camera when they were coming up to it and it only detected them when they were walking away. That's how I think it works because I had an issue where my doorbell was picking up human detection but my garage camera wasn't... They normally overlap a bit so when someone comes to the door, the garage also captures them. In this scenario, the connection to the garage camera was very poor so it wasn't sending a notification or recording the event but the camera did have good wifi connection and did alert me. When I fixed the connection issue on the garage camera, it started working normally again. The doorbell is just connected straight to wifi so it is the one that looks for people. The garage camera is connected to the homebase (using my homes wifi).

I like Eufy stuff BUT, I wouldn't make a big purchase like this through them. Use Amazon (due to easy return policy and being able to add a warranty, I'm assuming it's just as easy in Canada, but I don't know). Try to buy the parts separately if the discounts aren't huge for the bundle. I find that Eufy on Amazon matches the Eufy website pricing, including the discounts given by Eufy codes on their websites (usually, not all the time). Buying separately means that if you have a hardware issue and need to use the Eufy warranty, they won't ask you to return the entire bundle. Now, I don't know how true it is as I have no way to verify, but I've read a few claims on Reddit that Eufy wants a return of the whole bundle when 1 item needs to be replaced. I've never been through this myself and people here lie, a lot. So take this with a grain of salt. I have 2x S3 Pros and they're good *but* the big deal with them is that there's a setting where night time looks like day time under certain conditions. That's all well and good, but at *this* point (2026), I would prefer pan/tilt/zoom and "newer" tech over the S3 Pro. With that said, I would recommend buying the Solocam E42 instead. Same 4K resolution. At worst, you can set it to a fixed position anyway, at best you can manually pan/tilt when curious about what's happening around the camera, out of sight (behind it, especially if you mount them at good angles). You can also set it to patrol and/or AI follow. Right now on the U.S Amazon site, there's a 4 camera E42 bundle with HB3 (no storage) for U$499. You can split it all up and get 4xE42, a HB Pro and a chunky HDD for what I do think is within your wheelhouse budget. The HB Pro's main claim to fame is that it is newer, has PoE connectivity (best option for future proofing and if you're OK running some physical wiring and buying PoE cameras) and it has a 3.5" slot, which means you don't need to spend more for a SSD unless you really want to, then you can always buy an adapter to stick it in that slot. It has better "guts" in terms of processing data so you can use multi-view in the app, view the cameras from a website or even a TV and finally, has a slot for a device coming up at some point that offers more potent AI and security options. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Human detection sends a notification first, then comes face recognition. If you select “ignore known faces” in the settings, you will get a single notification instead of two. But the only way to not get overwhelmed with a million notifications is to either individually silence the cameras for a set amount of time when you are working in your yard, or to create custom modes other than home or away, tailored to your specific needs like picking which cameras will keep sending notifications and which ones will be silent. Eufy has so much potential, loving what they can do on paper. But real life scenarios unfortunately fail to deliver. (Detection zones and range for instance)

A couple of the cameras that are close to the HB are directly connected to it while others are connected to different nodes of the mesh network. Sure from time to time I’ll have signal issues or slower connections, but 99% of the time everything just works smoothly. A more advanced version of the HB is released and available as Homebase Professional that offers some additional features. But with a price tag of 499$, I doubt it’s worth it.

But then I just checked the Camera I put in place of the old one and it is having the same issue albeit slower. (Down 60% in 5 days) The new camera has over 12,000 events. Some camera models are better than others. Stick with 24/7 recording. Battery cameras from every vendor are bad. Probably stay away from the new nvr stuff from eufy. I have mixed emotions about homebase. Lots of my issues have stemmed from trying to use the homebase feature set. Recording to Nas and sd card 24/7 has been very reliable for me. I'm a big fan of e340 flood, s350 indoor, and e330 pro. S3 pro is also good, especially hardwired. All in all I think eufy is a good brand when you look at the price and features compared to similarly priced brands. But you have to be careful with the marketing. I have two them, buyed shortly after the release - after the weeks I have praised them but not..after over a year...don't buy them. Pros: The video quality is very good. The audio quality too. But the huuuuge negative side: They have a massive connection/WiFi/whatever problem that means: Going randomly offline without any problems before and after this. They stop recording from motion events from an hour to another. On some days it seems that something, like a loop event or so kills the whole battery within a few hours. Sometimes they are healing by itself, sometimes you have to reset the whole camera and re add to the homebase. You can't be sure that they are recording if you need it really and that's the whole point why iam about to switch to another brand, whats the purpose of a security camera system if you can't be sure that they are working like they should? Ahh and I forgot: the support reaalllllly really sucks, they can't help you with anything and asking stupid questions which you have answered them a few times again and again and again....

They are better than the other battery options benefited it is one of the few that has triple detection, infrared, radar, and vision. Plus if you do plug them in they support continous recording. Just know it's battery performance will be worse then if you plugged it in. The solar stuff across all brand are mediocre due the compromises they make to save battery. Most of the complaints people have would be true across every similar system that is not POE and costs a lot more.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro solar delaminating and stopped working after less than 6 months

That's why Eufy moved away from that solar panel design on all future generations. The S3 Pro was the last time they put the solar panel on the camera itself. The old design wasn't fit for purpose so they reworked and abandoned it. The new panels are flatter so they resist delamination better, are external so they can be individually replaced and can be mounted more flexibility, and the newest generation are massive and can charge a big battery with only a little sun or even in partial shade.

I forgot about their floodlight cameras. I remember when the E330 came out they kept touting the 24/7 recording in the marketing material so much that it seemed like it was their first 24/7 camera. I might have to look into some of those options. The marketing material wasn't clear on the S3 Pro 24/7 snapshot. Does it just take snapshots at intervals throughout the day?

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro Stopped working (Went offline)

Battery was/is completely dead :(... Even holding sync for 15 seconds does nothing-- I eventually took it back to JBHIFI :(...as it was in a kit 4 cams and homebase they wanted me to return everything-- what a nightmare--eventually spoke to a manager that would replace the one cam--- You wouldn't believe it no longer stocked and none left- :( eventually found a repacked box at carousel... So drove there and was told --it (my cam) had to be sent back for repair :( Spoke to another manager and they agreed to swap out of the repackaged box they had. Funny as all shit as the store guy took the cam outta the box that was repackaged I kid you not the alarm on the camera went off...LMFAO So 4 hrs of my life and i have finally a replacement cam working :) Thanks for the reply though :)

My guess is it can be fixed with software. This is typically the case when things are slow. Probably a memory leak (ie memory is not cleared), poorly writen code for de-encrpytion, or something else. Rarely would speed be impacted by a hardware problem. There bugs. I would wait a couple of months and see what happens.

    r/EufyCam · Lag s3 pro HB3

I have many Eufy cameras but unfortunately the S3Pro is stupidly slow. Even with Live View Streaming set to 1080p it is slow. Eufy has some work to do on this cam.

r/EufyCam · Why would my s3 pro constantly miss the postman on the way to the house

I have many Eufy cams including S350s, E340, E220s, and E30s. I recently purchase three S3 Pros. The S3 Pro is the worst Eufy cam I owned. It´s so called lidar detection is a joke. I have turned sensivity on the S3Pro to max and it still sucks. I have a E30 pointing in the same direction and it performs much better. There have also been problems with the S3 Pro overloading my Homebase 3 and I installed. It seems to chew up a lot of CPU power and takes forever to load event clips. I also have an E2 Eufy tablet and even this slowed to a crawl with one S3Pro installed. The only way I could get some improvement was to turn of human recogniton on ALL cameras and put the S3Pro into 1080p mode recording. I think Eufy has a lot of software work to bring this to prime time. I actually put my other two S3 Pros in storage while we all wait for Eufy to optimize this piece of junk.

It's a decent way to get started with home cameras - especially if you're not interested in spending a ton of time or money right now and want incremental functionality you don't have. Solar+wireless is really easy to install, but you DO need good sun and good wireless or else you're going to have a bad time. The eufy system isn't perfect and as people progress to high end always-on monitoring and recording, you'll hear more complaints. For where you're at, it's pretty good. I have 12 devices and 2 are the s3 pro. They're good. Honestly, the best devices I have are the eufy wired floodlights...

Definitely this. You can see the light reflect bottom left and it brightens the whole image. It may also work to paint that thing matte black but that may not be enough. You could do a proof of concept by covering it with something black and not very reflective it to see if that works.

r/EufyCam · S3 Pro vs Reolink Trackmix - wildlife viewing

Since nobody has responded to my post, I did some additional research and I believe the Eufy S4 Max may be the better camera for detecting and recording wildlife. Reasons are (1) the S4 Max is a native PoE camera supporting continuous recording over wired Ethernet. The S3 Pro can only record over WiFi and forcing it to 24x7 by powering with a USB connection seems less robust from a network standpoint than S4 Max 24x7 recording using Ethernet. (2) The S4 Max has 2 cameras: a 4k wide angle camera and a 2k PTZ camera. If the 4k lens can detect any motion then I think the 2k lens can zoom in and capture wildlife in more detail, as well as track wildlife that moves across the area. The S3 Pro is fixed so I think any particular animal will be recorded in less detail. As a hobbyist activity, I plan to train / fine tune my own AI wildlife model to notify me of specific types of wildlife so that I can be notified in real time of wildlife classified as bears, foxes, squirrels, coyotes, etc., rather than Eufy’s catch-all “Pets”. I don’t know much about other cameras such as Reolinks but since I do respect Eufy, I’m reasonably happy to focus on the S4 Max for wildlife / critter capture. Would love any feedback about choice of camera or my AI wildlife project.

I got my s3 pro and going through the set up. Some annoying things. First day, two cameras on record 24/7, few seconds delay on app, manageable. Added another two the next day, and one of the camera that was working ok on the first day is struggling and delayed by 10 mins. Adding all 4 camera 24/7 record seemed to overwhelmed home base. Waiting on a " eufy wifi repeater" to see if that fixes the issue. Also going to move the camera closer to the hombase. The camera struggles to connect to multibridge too time to time. But from reading online, a lot of people are suggesting getting another home base to cover it but gonna try the cheaper option with extender first. I would strongly recommend reading into this bit more before getting s3 pro, I wish i had.

It is my understanding that you need an internal drive - not an external USB drive. Regarding HomeKit, as soon as you connect HomeKit, video is forced to 1080p - this is HomeKit's maximum resolution. Even in the Eufy app it gets downgraded. For that reason I opted to not include S3 Pro in my HomeKit setup.

    r/EufyCam · Considerint Getting The S3 Pro

What do you mean "not in direct sunlight"? Will it never solar charge or does it only charge for a few hours a day? Google says it has a 13k MAH battery. I have 3 S3 Pros and they draw anywhere from 250 - 350 mah/day. So theoretically if you're averaging 300 mah/day, that'll get you 43 days. I'm just over 1 month in and I'm at 92% (2-3hrs of sun moderate traffic), 97% (2-3 hrs of sun lower traffic) and 100% (4 hrs of sun, lower traffic). On my old Eufy 2 got to a point where I was having to get up on a ladder and charge it every 3 weeks (hence the upgrade). Yes, you get 4k video w/o subscription.

r/eufy · Bought a brand new 4k EufyCam S3 Pro 2 and it absolutely will not pick up a vehicle going by, even on the most sensitive settings. Why?

Just to give an update, better performance catching vehicles by tilting camera upward. Thanks for the tip. It looks awkward but seems to be recording more often. But I still have to say, would 100% not recommend the 4k cameras. The old ones just didn't give me these headaches as far as motion detection and the picture quality is only a very subtle improvement. Also, these 4k cameras seem to lose their connection quite often. Just didn't have this problem with the old cameras.

r/eufy · Bought a brand new 4k EufyCam S3 Pro 2 and it absolutely will not pick up a vehicle going by, even on the most sensitive settings. Why?

Thanks. What's funny is it almost seems to do better catching far vehicles than close ones. For instance, my car drives right by the camera, about 15 feet away, nothing. The entire car moves past it at a perepndicular angle. But a car moving down the street way off on the sides, it will catch. Right now, the camera is mounted about 5 feet off the ground and pointed relatively straight. I turned it up a bit to see if that helps.

r/eufy · Bought a brand new 4k EufyCam S3 Pro 2 and it absolutely will not pick up a vehicle going by, even on the most sensitive settings. Why?

I went to max sensitivity, with 7. As far as activity zones, I'm unsure how to remove those? I never added any activity zones. I will raise camera upwards and see if that helps, thanks. I'm funny about privacy regarding a picture of the front of my house, but I appreciate the offer. Just know I'm mounting it exactly where I did the previous camera that never had an issue. The signal is strong for the WiFi.

r/eufy · Bought a brand new 4k EufyCam S3 Pro 2 and it absolutely will not pick up a vehicle going by, even on the most sensitive settings. Why?

Appreciate the follow up Not really, I did get it to pick up video of me leaving, but not my wife's (giant) SUV. The cams have about a 10% hit ratio. What's odd is I bought a 4k, two camera set and BOTH do this where they just don't pick up vehicles. The older Eufy models I have handle it fine. To me, this says it's something with the programming of these models and not say a manufacturing defect. The main reason I got a 4k is my neighbor had their house broken into and the video I had on my HD model just wasn't able to get enough detail of the car that did it. I wanted to have a 4k model for better clarity, especially of vehicles and license plates.

r/homesecurity · Best camera for squirrel detection?

The Eufy S3 Pro is a wireless battery powered camera, they rely on PIR sensors to detect, which is the worst kind of detection you can possibly have for a camera. If I were you I'd return that immediately. It is not a matter of brand, it is just battery powered cameras suck, all of them. A Wi-Fi plugged in camera would be a bit better (from Reolink or Eufy) but they are also not reliable. More so about the fact they work on Wi-Fi that's extremely unstable, so yeah not reliable or ideal either. Want something reliable? Get a proper wired PoE security camera. Reolink PoE cameras do have pet detection which might be able to detect the squirrels as "pets/animals", maybe at max sensitivity as they are small. Reolink cameras notification is not subpar, it is extremely fast and accurate, at least for a PoE camera setup (as long as you *manually* updated the firmware beforehand - extremely important step). Reolink cameras have drawbacks but the detection is not one of them.

    r/eufy · I've gone a bit Eufy mad.

It features “Continuous recording“ if plugged in (which it is). This records 24/7 in 1080p and if it detects motion it starts recording in 4k. So in my earlier screenshot, the big blue boxes are all 4k motion triggered recordings and the blue line in between is 1080. I’ve had it running for months and it is recording 24/7. If i go to playback mode it plays back a full video of the entire timeline, it’s not snapshot (which just takes a photo every 15 minutes or so). The only issue is I can’t zoom in. I can click on a motion triggered recording and it will play from the beginning of the clip and be downloaded, but the only way to watch recording between motion triggers is to slide the timeline to the point you want and let it play from there (and record the playback if you wanted to download it). The thing is you can’t zoom in or out on the timeline so jumping to a specific spot can be problematic https://preview.redd.it/mcx3d9vfam8f1.jpeg?width=1206&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e3e274272bb235c7c84e0e772661116b89b1279

    r/eufy · I've gone a bit Eufy mad.

It kind of depends what you need really. Are you looking at cameras for outdoors, indoors, or a mix? Will they be in direct sunlight and/or have access to mains power? The S3 Pro's are the best of the cameras I have. They have built in solar panels so depending on their position and how much movement happens in front of them, they can never need charging. However, if you have access to keep them plugged in, they can record 24/7 rather than only recording when they detect movement. But they have a great mix of cameras, so you could for example have a couple of S3 Pros or S330s outside, then have some E30's or even 2C's inside. You can get these great stands for the 2C cameras which allow you to place them wherever you want indoors. giving you cameras indoors with super long battery life that don't need to be near a plug. You can then set them to geofenced, so the indoor ones only become active when you're not there, which makes the batteries last even longer (and helps protect your privacy). However, if you do want them indoors and have them near plugs, the E30's not only have pan and tilt to follow motion, they also have a privacy mode where when you're there, not only will they not record, but they'll actively turn the camera to face the wall and turn off, then automatically turn on when you leave.

Yeah it is a bit vague on the snapshot feature but from what I can gather yes it gives you a time line throughout the day consisting of events and what I think is preset recording intervals. What I am wondering is if you hardwired it does it do 24/7 recording (I think it might) as that would give it the most flexibility from a camera package but who knows with Eufy there really is no justification for any of their cameras when hardwired not to be able to record 24/7, I have the S100 camera lights and love them but why no 24/7 recording, maybe someone will chime in with a good reason?

    r/EufyCam · Undecided between S330 and S3 Pro

The app is honestly the biggest issue with Eufy, so I’d rethink your camera choice. I like the S3 Pro for its true 24/7 continuous recording, but I can’t use it because of wiring limitations. Instead, I’ve been running a mix of S330 bullet cams with built‑in solar and a couple of used S300 / EufyCam 3C units from Amazon, paired with external 6‑watt solar panels. The S300s have been completely reliable with zero issues, and they’re compact, about half the size of the S330; so they fit under eaves, connect faster in Live View, and offer a wider usable field of view. External solar panels usually come with 6–10 feet of cable, letting you mount the camera in the shade while placing the panel where it actually gets sun. The S300 has all the practical features of the S330 except the theft alarm, which isn’t very useful since it won’t stop someone from taking the camera and becomes annoying if you move the camera even slightly without disabling it in the app. Meanwhile, the S330’s built‑in solar panels can delaminate over time, and the cameras are bulkier and slower to connect. Realistically, your choice should come down to the S300/EufyCam 3C or the S3 Pro, and since the S300 is a few years old now, you can usually find them for around $89–$109 USD, making them one of the best values in the lineup.
