r/arlo · Arlo Pro 5S 2K Water Intrusion Issue – Support Says Engineering Is Aware You have to post in the Arlo Community forums. Somebody from Arlo sent me a message and two of my cameras got RMA’d. The call / chat support is so bad. And wow that sucks to hear about the gen 6 as well. ☹️

r/arlo · Disappeared Order - UK Heads up on this, I managed to post in the Arlo community forum and was promised an update that day from an admin. I received the update later that day to tell me the cameras were never in stock but not to worry, they would be in stock this weeks and they’d be in touch either way. Would it surprise anyone to know that the week has passed and no one has contacted me. For additional info, the Arlo official user on Reddit contacted me on the back of this thread on the very same day I got a response on the Arlo community website, just to assure me all was in hand and subsequently ignoring my request to process a refund. Interestingly, i can now no longer log into the Arlo community forum nor reset my password. Are they managing negative experiences on there? Shambolic. How on earth do I get my money back?

r/arlo · Arlo Pro 6 GEN If you canceled Netflix because the kept increasing fees, run while you still can. The cams are great on their own, pic quality is excellent. Fees creep up yearly and basic features get thrown behind a paywall with every new update. My tipping point is when I had a break in and the attacker used a $20 wifi jammer to render the entire system useless. That was the last straw, $1500 down the drain. I was pissed when I learned that its not a real security system when push comes to shove, it just makes the owner feel good. The system works well for picking up random stuff that happens, but anyone with intent to do you harm can disable the system quickly without you knowing. Its not a "sophisticated crime ring" tactic either, its a legal item anyone can purchase for $20. The only porch pirates you will catch are the dumb ones. Upgrade to a wired setup from a different company if you bought this system for real security and not just a visual deterrent or home insurance credit

I have logged in to my Arlo account and provided an update that details the what I have seen and believe is the root cause of the problem. First, we are a commercial enterprise with a substantial Enterprise Wi-Fi network infrastructure. This camera is not ours -- it is a 3rd party property management company who has an existing Arlo account. They like to provide these cameras to their commercial customers to monitor parking lot to dispatch their plow trucks. All non-corporate provided W-Fi devices must use the Guest Wi-Fi. The Guest Wi-Fi is an "open network" configuration that provides maximum compatibility for resident / patient devices they may use. We have well over 200 devices currently connected to the Guest Wi-Fi. Most use MAC authentication to join the Guest Wi-Fi. The MAC address is entered into an Active Directory and serves as the Password for the device be able to join the Guest Wi-Fi w/o any user intervention. There is no Arlo Hub / Base station.... In 802.11, the join sequence is roughly: • Scan (passive or active) – the client hears or solicits beacon/probe-response frames that include the SSID and the security Information Elements (IEs), such as the RSN IE for WPA2/AES. • 802.11 Authentication frame – for an open network this is sent with no credentials; for an RSN network it’s part of the RSN handshake. • Association Request – the client requests to join the BSS. • RSNA 4-way handshake – only if the beacon advertised WPA2/WPA3. Because our Guest SSID is “Open” (no RSN IE), the Arlo Secure app never sees a WPA2/AES network advertised in the beacon and therefore doesn’t send any 802.11 authentication or association frames to the WLC – which is why my packet captures are empty. The design of the Arlo Secure app seems to support a network using WPA2-AES authentication even when I enter the device's MAC address as the Password when choosing the Guest Wi-Fi SSID in the Arlo Secure app. .
r/arlo · Arlo Pro 6 / Cisco enterprise Wi-Fi I have a case and sent screen shots of every screen yesterday. This morning, I ran a debug & trace on our Wireless Controller using the MAC address of the camera. The system never even sees the MAC address when choosing the Guest wifi SSID. The Guest SSID first attempts to use MAC authentication (Layer 2). It uses dot1x which goes thru NPS (Radius) and then to the Domain Controller / Active Directory. We define a User in the AD and the PW is the camera's MAC address. This is a Guest wii-fi which is basically wide open to allow patients / residents / family members to be able to have internet access. We have 100's of devices on the Guest SSID that connect using MAC authentication. This method allows devices to join w/o user needing to enter ID / PW or the device can't display a web page where an ID / PW would be entered and verified. The encryption method is set to NONE. The network is completely separate from our corporate networks and NONE provides the most compatibility -- we have residents with internet connected picture frames etc. I've read posts stating the Arlo camera Pro support WPA2-AES -- but that should not matter. Entering the MAC address is basically "whitelisting" the device to allow it to join. The Arlo Secure app just does not seem to present the camera's MAC address to the Wi-Fi network when I enter the MAC as the guest Password in the app. It fails almost immediately.
