Ninja

Smart plug $20 + $25 Mr. Coffee drip machine. You program the smart plug to turn on and make coffee at the same time every morning. I saw a display that did this.

I've had my Mr Coffee for over a decade now. It works just as well as it did. Gonna have to go sacrifice a goat now that I've said that before it breaks.

Couldn’t recommend Ninja any less. My OXO 8-cup replaced a Ninja Coffee Bar that was not up to snuff and finally quit working altogether around 5 or 6 years ago and it’s pretty good—certainly above average. I know if I looked at upgrading again in the future, I’d probably get a Moccamaster but that’s pretty well above your price range.

OXO Brew 9-Cup is the sweet spot imo. SCA certified, hot enough, easy to clean. Worth the extra $$ over Ninja

Methinks you need to go back to basics when it comes to drip machines, the cheap ones last seemingly forever. Mr Coffee has been holding down the fort for at least half my life.

There are some coffee makers that are not SCA certified that come close or pretty much meet the specs. Like the Ninja 12-Cup, or the Zojirushi 5-cup and 12-cup options. However, I agree, the rest mostly not great because they don't get hot enough.

That’s a fair point. There’s also coffee makers that used to be certified, but they stopped paying the SCA. The Ninja is a solid machine and was certified at some point I believe.

The less features the better; I got a used Krups coffee maker at the thrift store 26 years ago that still makes a good cup of coffee. Stuff isn’t made to last anymore.

Get an external timer. It will normally outlast even the sturdiest coffee maker. The coffee maker can be a basic model then.

I got tired of the watered down crap that comes from the machines these days. I got a manual chemex pitcher with a good reusable metal filter and brew my own. It takes a tiny bit longer, but is super easy to clean and the coffee strength is purely how much grounds I pack in it and I don’t need much just a good bean. I’ll never have to deal with a machine dying again or cheap crap.

I think it's worth if you wanna explore light roast coffee, had ninja cm104, but I found it struggled with light roast coffee. I think before upgrading your machine, a grinder is more important part of the process. Investing in a good grinder first is the way to go.

I'm new to the coffee conversation as I've used a Ninja Dual Brew for years and I love it. What I'm wondering is why no one mentioned the Aero Press. It's a cheap upgrade, with a lot of bang for the buck, and can easily make a 300ml cup of coffee.

I really love my Ninja CM401: https://www.coffeegrindguru.com/ninja-cm401/. It was certified by the same coffee industry group that certifies temperature/quality/etc as Moccamaster, but was selling for about half the price here when I bought it. Like you, I frequently buy trash coffee and it just consistently makes great cups. My favourite thing is that I can make individual cups in 3 or 4 different sizes (including XL, which is the perfect fit for my travel mug), half pot, or a full pot. I tend to just drink one or two cups a day, so the individual feature is what I tend to use. I bought this after having Keurigs, French presses, and an AeroPress and I’m always happy with my consistent results and it’s super easy to clean (especially if you making individual cups), which I can’t say for my experience with those other options.

I believe you are mistaken. The humble Mr. Coffee is an elegant piece of technology that works just as well today as it always has, which is "quite well". It's efficient, effective, and has a minimal number of frills to go wrong. Get a simple one and plug it into a timer. Done.

I’ve never had any problems with my many ninja appliances but I didn’t know they even made coffee makers. There are definitely better known and trusted brands for coffee makers. Mr coffee, bun (bunn?) I e got whatever decent looking model at Walmart and they last near a decade. The room I’m currently in has a Hamilton beach. I think that was Walmart. Been working fine for 4 years now.

Cuisinart Grind n Brew usually lasts 8-10 years before the grinder fails. The drip part still works for ground coffee. I love the fresh ground beans.

Instant coffee has improved lots since it earned its crappy reputation. I think it's better than cheap-ass drip brew. Instant is all I need unless I want super-good coffee. Then, cold brew concentrate is *mind blowing,* and I still don't need an appliance.

No_Load_4224r/espresso · Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier Early Review →2025-03-19T01:56:32
What is the timeframe of making a drink? I had a semiautomatic once and by the time it grinded, I had to put it in the tamper, brew, put in the milk frother, wait, etc, and clean everything, it was taking too long for convenience. I’m trying to gauge how practical this is for daily use in a busy morning via time and cleaning requirements. What is the routine maintenance? Most drips just require cleaner and descaled cycles, maybe a few minutes of time.
