Points forts

Sorry that sucks. Maybe put a filter in the empty coffee maker, so when they open it they see it... Hopefully that's the hint/tip needed to make the connection

I think this is one of those things that obvious to you because you know a filter is needed but not sure it would be obvious to someone who’s never used a drip coffee maker before. Not their fault that their generation just… doesn’t use those so they never learned. I would tape instructions to the lid of the coffee maker for sure

Thank you for this. I like the look and features. The only thing I don't like about it is the glass pitcher. Ours has a stainless steel carafe, which I like for a few reasons: \- It has no heating element on the bottom \- Guests (and us) don't have to worry about the coffee maker being left on \- I never have to deal with a discolored/burnt glass carafe.

Almost every guest does 2 things. 1. Grease all over the range. 2. Coffee pods or basket exploded with grounds. Every. Single. Stay. Its abhorrent. This job will dissolve any remaing threads of faith in humanity. Down hill treadmill.

We have a QR code with a link to a video specifically for these item and written instructions next to it. Additionally, we have an internal website for every possible item. All of these instructions start out with IF YOU DO NOT KNOW, PLEASE ASK. I would suggest you go to Goodwill and pick up a new coffee maker and have it standing by as a spare.

I can see that as a big advantage! This DOES turn itself off after a while, so there shouldn't be a burnt carafe issue. I should add that regular 12-cup basket-style filters are a little too short and grounds can overflow if you use a lot, which we do. These are perfect: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GTBDXDC](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GTBDXDC)

Pretty good list overall but id add that its very imp that you consider how much effort you actually want to put in every morning. Cuz if the process feels like a chore, you wont end up using the machine at all. Honestly If like me youre sorta lazy, id say get a drip machine instead cuz you wont have to measure, dial or do any of that extra stuff. So its overall just a bit easier. [This kind](https://d3oc4tmn8qmbnq.cloudfront.net/?q=GMKAO1962) ofc doesnt exactly compete with the proper brewers but makes a decent enough cup. Also id recc wait for sales before you get it , black n decker has kinda nice ones ususally.

For a generation who lives on the internet and goes into meltdown mode when one of their favorite apps is down, they sure as hell don’t look easy things up. I saw a post the other day of one asking what the “weird” marks on her shirt was and that it happens every day. It was deodorant, people. Deodorant.

    r/airbnb_hosts · Gen Z and Coffee Makers (sigh) →2026-05-20T16:31:22

Unless, maybe they started the coffee maker but go to insert the pot properly, leading to overflow of the filter basket. This happened to me once with my drip coffee at home. I had forgotten to put the lid back on the pot, which is needed to release the plunger on the filter basket. So it all overflowed and backflowed into the water reservoir and made quite the mess.

Felt that a little bit - and did look up the price of an exact replacement, but it was a little high to purchase. Plus, - for self preservation - I didn't want to message them, ask for a clean/replacement fee and risk the possibility of getting some "we didn't touch it" BS, which would've annoyed me more than just spending the time to clean it. It's OK though... been hosting long enough that what use to perturb now just surprises. 👀

I'm in Europe and had an American who boiled milk in electric kettle. Than was surprised it got completely burned and ruined, and we had to replace it. Another guest boiled sausages in the kettle. And someone warming up the meal on plastic tray in the oven.

I had a young guest turn the wall unit to the heat setting in the summer and complained after leaving that it put out warm air. I leave the manual was on the table below the unit and turned to the page with the settings instructions. I tore those pages out and they now hang on the wall in plain sight.

I'll never forget the office I worked in--first time I was put in charge of the coffee making. I didn't realize there was a waterline into the coffee maker so I didn't need to add water. But I added water haha. The next 1/2 hour was a lot of screaming in the break room. Flooding everywhere Oh well.
