r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? Sophos are primarily enterprise focused however they have a robust AV engine. I have tried it on PC and it does work good. One of my clients had also used it earlier and it was quite good as per them. I think you can trust it.

r/antivirus · Eset vs Sophos vs Emsisoft tbh you can't go wrong with any of those three, just depends on what annoys you the least. the kaspersky debate is endless. totally get why you want to jump ship just so you don't have to think about it anymore. if you want something that just shuts up and does its job without eating your ram, go ESET. it's been the reddit darling for years for a reason. Emsisoft is also super solid if privacy is your absolute #1 concern right now. their behavior blocker is legit and they are very transparent. Sophos is decent but just a heads up, the home version is managed via a web portal. some people love doing it from a browser, but others absolutely hate not having a normal local desktop UI. FWIW, another really lightweight option you might want to look at is MalwareFox. it completely takes over as your primary AV and is super aggressive on adware and zero-day junk without bottlenecking your system like the heavier suites do. good luck man, anything is better than stressing over your AV.
r/antivirus · Eset vs Sophos vs Emsisoft just a standard disclaimer up front: ymmv. this is strictly my personal mileage and based on what i've experienced over the years. your exact hardware and the weird niche apps you run will definitely change how these feel. Malware detection: Kaspersky > ESET > Emsisoft > Sophos False positives (least to most annoying): ESET > Kaspersky > Sophos > Emsisoft System impact (lightest to heaviest): ESET > Emsisoft > Kaspersky > Sophos Privacy (most transparent to least): Emsisoft > ESET > Sophos > Kaspersky

r/antivirus · Is Sophos AV worth it? My uni offers it for free. It’s basically the enterprise AV made for home usage. The website control panel is slightly awkward if you are used to a “local” control panel. However it’s almost unparalleled for detections. It is quite aggressive, however it does not have too much false positives. (This is basically a summary of the last video about it from The PC Security Channel on YouTube, which reviewed the latest version some time ago)

r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? Hello, Sophos Ltd. is one of the original security software companies, founded in the mid-1980s. I do not have any specific information about their Android app, but it should be as legitimate as their Linux, Mac, and Windows offerings. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

r/antivirus · Do you think Bitdefender triumphs over other anti viruses? I’ve ran Kaspersky Premium for 1 year then moved to ESET Premium for 2 years. Tried Sophos Home followed by Malwarebytes Premium afterwards. Both were alright but not impressed. Swapped to Bitdefender and I’m really loving it by far. Sticking with Bitdefender for the long term but it’s a coin flip for me between it and Kaspersky.

r/antivirus · Sophos vs Norton on ancient laptop As someone who is experienced with IT related topics, i'd be using the built-in AV of Microsoft, probably utilizing the external tool "ConfigureDefender" to fine-tune settings. If i were inexperienced or and/or lazy and my employer gave me a free sophos license, i'd probably use that. If my employer didn't give me free sophos, i'd literally use anything other than Norton.

r/antivirus · How do people pick an antivirus without overthinking it? Use Eset... It is light and good 😎 If you want Enterprise Grade protection use Sophos Home Premium... That is what I can recommend here...
r/antivirus · If I was looking to replace Norton what are my best choices? Try Sophos Home Premium... It is a great product and not too expensive! 😉
r/antivirus · Which is better: Bitdefender free or Microsoft Defender? Try Sophos Home Premium... It is actually on discount and a really powerful option of defending your machines 😉👍
r/antivirus · Is it worth switching from Windows Defender to a paid antivirus in 2026, or has Defender caught up? I personally trust Sophos Home Premium... Reason for it... It is a business grade security solution (really nice) & you get a license for 10 PCs for a good price... 🤗 So try it out... https://youtu.be/5RWcfccExQA?is=ZPZiB1LGehQRJKY3

r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? Honestly, this is too complete for the free version. But I'm a little skeptical. Maybe I'll try this app again.
r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? Yes, I quite like this app because it provides quite comprehensive protection and it's free. but for the past few months they haven't had any updates for their application
r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? I've also used it and tested it, and I'd say it's pretty good. It's free, but it has many features like a pro subscription. But regarding Malwarebytes, I'm leaning towards Kaspersky, as it can scan the system and framework as well. However, when you want to update it, you have to sideload it, not install it within the app.
r/antivirus · Is Sophos antivirus for Android legit? I'm surprised too. It's a free version and offers this much protection—it should be a pro version for other brands. yeah i hope Sophos is really legit, dude.

r/antivirus · Which is better: Bitdefender free or Microsoft Defender? It isn't. Microsoft Defender didn't miss 12% of them. It just blocked them post execution, which is pretty fine most of the time. Have a look at the test methodology for more details. And on most AV tests, all AVs are reported as 99% because the tests are all fundamentally flawed. When you put them up against new samples or withhold it access to the cloud, that's where Defender breaks down. Better AVs like Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Sophos etc. on the other hand get a chance to shine here.

r/antivirus · Virus/Malware protection Yeah remove McAfee and buy Sophos or Bitdefender. Windows Defender has gotten better but it still misses a ton of things. It's tuned to not be intrusive and because of that it misses many things. It's also not great at detecting malicious behavior, which is why it misses many info stealers lately. Those who are hyper aware of what to avoid can probably run with just Windows Defender and a DNS blocker, but if you aren't, it's best to have the best protecting you. I know what to avoid, been a sysadmin for years and recently pivoted to cyber security, I have two Pi-holes on my network, uBlock Origin in Firefox, and yet I have Bitdefender on my gaming PC and Sophos installed on family members computers. Threats have gotten worse and all it takes is one wrong click, or you think you're downloading from the official 7zip website but in reality it's one of the half dozen copy cat sites with trojans.

r/antivirus · Sophos or Webroot or Eset Which one is the best I would suggest trial Sophos for 30 days and see how it goes. Only take 5 mins to create a trial and deploy a client.
r/antivirus · Is Sophos AV worth it? My uni offers it for free. If you have your own login and can install it on a few clients, you might be able to protect your family computers. That will give you a web control feature over them which could be useful for older relatives.

r/antivirus · Spybot Search and Destroy --- anyone still using it? Spybot is an obsolete product! In the early 2000s, it was used to clear spyware and simple malwares like a Trojan. Modern malwares are architectural different and were designed to easily bypass older detection methods. It's slow because it relies on outdated databases and isn't optimized for modern systems. Most of the scanner these days use cloud intelligence and behavioural analysis which are faster and more accurate! MB, EMSI, Norton Power Eraser, KVRT, Sophos Scan and Clean are better than Spybot!

r/antivirus · Sophos Home against 15 very recent malicious scripts This is excellent. Thanks for sharing. The Home Edition doesn't have everything the Business edition does but is still extremely effective. Add to that Peripheral, AppC, WebC and DLP + HTTPS / TLS Decrypt capability and your score might be a perfect 100% block i think. Might grab that sample and give it a shot too to see the XDR detections as well that come across with it.

Eset is better than Sophos, Kaspersky is better than both. Kaspersky may be a privately owned Russian company, that however doesn’t make it a bad product and without turning the post political any negative bias towards the company or product is either driven by misinformed opinion and hate.
Kaspersky is the industry standard for consumer AV software, if you live in radical USA it js banned unfortunately though. Sophos isn’t worth the time or money.
