r/projectors · Choosing a video projector for a semi-lit room You have to be realistic, that never in your life have you gone to a semi-lit movie theater. That doesn't mean you can't project, but there is a reason theaters are dark, and your image will take a significant hit when you add ambient light. It won't make the projector unusable, but it will definitely remove that cinematic feel. As well, about half of the theater impact is the sound treated room that is painted completely dark. It's a quiet space with excellent audio. Something many people don't want to address with anything more than a speakerbar these days. The models you listed are all solid choices. BenQ thrown in is a good choice as well. At the end of the day, these models are all DLP projectors using the same DLP chip inside of them. They are more similar than different. The worst one would be considered very bright and high resolution from what we had 15 years ago. I personally think that models with optical zoom and a good amount of lens shift are the best purchase as they make setup far easier. So, I lean heavily into the Horizon 20 being a solid choice. If you need more brightness, and can afford it, get the better models. You have to understand throw distance, and learn to use this tool... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon\_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm) You should also spend some time watching videos from a proper review YouTube channel. I like this as one of the best because of the real world comparisons of models put head to head at various price points... [https://www.youtube.com/thehookup](https://www.youtube.com/thehookup) You aren't going to struggle at your price point to find a solid projector that looks good. You will still only get part of the theatrical experience if you don't have great audio. You will probably be shocked at how good the image actually is after dark.

r/projectors · JMGO N3 4K vs XGIMI Horizon 20 Base: Which one should I keep for a 150" dark basement setup? I was having this dilemma with the horizon 20 base and the jmgo n1s ultimate. $100 difference currently . They are both very similar except the refresh rate as the horizon is higher (considering occasionally gaming on it). The reason im happy i chose the jmgo though it the slight more portability and the ports in the base. I just ordered though so it hasnt gotten yet however i can provide an update later. I think in general specs the horizon is better than the jmgo n3. I think the main difference was the brightness. 1800 lumens vs 3200. Depending if you want to watch during the day you would choose one over the other. But honestly, just have the projectors sit side by side and test it since you have that option and then decide if you want to keep it or not.

r/projectors · Choosing the right projector Hey there! So, you won’t match your LG OLED’s blacks on a projector, but in a dark room a 100–120″ image can feel more cinematic; for your “move it room to room” plan I’d skip the UST units since they’re meant to live inches from a fixed ALR screen and aren’t super portable-friendly. I don't know why you're saying that we didn't like the JMGO; we reviewed the JMGO N1S Ultimate, and we liked it quite a bit. We didn't review the Pro, but they're very similar, just the Pro is dimmer than the Ultimate. It definitely seems like the best value for you here. As for XGIMI’s Horizon 20 line, it's solid if the price is right. The differences between 20/Pro/Max are mostly brightness/processing and, for night use, the base model is usually enough. Hope this helps!

r/budgetprojectors · XGIMI Horizon S Max Projector Review In my opinion I would consider this to be competitively priced unit considering the lumen output and premium features this projector offers. The only other units that would be similar in price are the Valerion StreamMaster Plus 2, JMGO N1S, and Horizon S Max. Currently each is priced at • Valerion StreamMaster Plus 2 ($1999) • JMGO N1S Ultimate ($2,099) • XGIMI Horizon S Max ($1899 with exclusive promo code XGIMIPP this brings it down to $1,609.00) ——— We get more lumen output performance from both the XGIMI Horizion S Max and JMGO N1S over the Valerion Streammaster Plus 2. ——- Most users that are looking for a living room, dedicated indoor room or even an outdoor setup would go for the brighter option if they preferred. My personal preference would be to go for the brighter option, as what I’m looking for in a projector is great HDR performance, 3D and a bright image with both the lights on and off. With any projector out there, once you step up in lumen output the cost goes up. My alternative option would be the XGIMI S pro if I wanted a similar experience but with a reduced lumen output and no IMAX Enhanced. —— Considering all this information, I would still consider this to be a great option, even if I went out and bought this projector myself. I wouldn’t see myself buying another projector for quite a long time. I

r/projectors · JMGO N1S Ultimate - Good, But Not $2200 Impressive! Looking for Recommendations If high contrast is what you want, the 5050ub does beat out all of the lifestyle projectors. If you want the smaller form factor, the hisense c2 ultra will be similar to the JMGO with a better image.

r/projectors · Looking for buying advice for living room setup Your plan actually makes sense a floor-rising ALR screen plus a bright projector is one of the cleanest ways to get a living room setup that you can pack away. For sports with some ambient light, that ALR screen will help a lot, but you’ll still want a projector with solid real-world brightness and decent contrast so it doesn’t look washed out. The JMGO N1S Ultimate can work, but you’re paying a premium, and there are other options that can get you close for less if you focus on brightness and placement over extra features. If you want something simpler and more flexible, the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is a nice option, it’s easy to set up on a table, has good color and overall image quality, and works well for mixed use like sports and movies without much hassle. Overall, your idea is solid, just make sure you prioritize brightness and the screen pairing, since that’s what will really define how good it looks in a living room.

r/projectors · Alright everyone, here is my first video of the JMGO N3 ULTIMATE, uploading to YouTube now... I've had the N1S Ultimate for 2 yrs and it's still been awesome, so I'm really curious how much of a jump the N3 is over the N1S. This video looks just super clean!

r/projectors · jmgo projector N3 4K has like 50% extra lumens compared to the older N1S 4K that I own. Also has an extra HDMI and an optical zoom. That zoom could be handy if you move from outdoors to bedroom. N1S ultimate has a lot more lumens. N1S 4K can possibly be at a huge discount too.... Tough choices :) I think it really depends on your OUTDOOR situation. What are you watching and how much ambient light are we talking about?

r/projectors · BenQ TK705i vs Jmgo N1S Ultimate — 4m projection, day vision + used to OLED I will be seated at around 3m50 / 4 meters. I plan to put a shelf on the wall and place it on top. So 4 meters from the wall. Initially, I did not plan a screen to prioritize the video projector budget. We will see in the near future for the screen. Budget 1500 euros. The JMGO ultimate is more expensive but it looks really good. I have large bay windows with blinds but the light still comes through during the day. THANKS

r/projectors · BenQ TK705i vs Jmgo N1S Ultimate — 4m projection, day vision + used to OLED No matter which projector you choose, if you want to watch movies during the day, it’s still best to turn off the lights and block out ambient light. This prevents the contrast from being washed out and gives you a better sense of immersion. The **JMGO N1S Ultimate** is a good projector, but in my personal experience, it doesn’t perform as well as its specs suggest. The **BenQ TK705i**, on the other hand, performs about the same as its listed specifications and matches its price level. In my opinion, the performance of these two projectors is quite similar. The N1S Ultimate looks a bit brighter, but the RGB 3-Laser noise makes my eyes uncomfortable. The BenQ TK705i uses **4LED**—the visual brightness is slightly lower than RGB laser, but it has no noise spots, and the image looks clean and comfortable. Lastly, in a bright room, even a wide color gamut will be washed out by ambient light. So it may be better to choose something smaller, quieter, and with a cleaner picture. These are just my personal opinions—hope they help!

r/projectors · Help Choosing a Portable Laser Projector: Nebula Cosmos 4K SE vs JMGO N1S Ultra vs Hisense C2 Ultra Thank you for your input. One german review said that the peak brightness on the Hisense is only available in a special “high brightness” mode which projects the picture witch a very strong green tint. They measured the nominal brightness after self calibration of the Hisense at 2200 lumen. I found one review of the JMGO N1S Ultimate said the measured peak brightness of 2800 lumen but they have not said anything about a discoloration of the picture. The price difference right now where I live is 265 USD betwenn the JMGO N1S Ultimate vs Hisense C2 Ultra. I am still leaning towards the higher lumen option of the JMGO. How important is the optical zoom option? Will I need to be much closer to the screen with the Hisens Then with the JMGO?

I would wait for Black Friday. I personally own the small JMGO N1S 4K and am completely satisfied with it. Excellent picture quality. I use it in combination with an 80-inch screen. Unfortunately, I don't have any more space. I previously had the Viewsonic M10. And the difference in image quality is significant.
