Epson EH-LS12000B

Points faibles
Aucun point faible notable.

r/hometheater · Best Home Projector for a New Home theater in 2026 The new triple laser projectors (Valerion Pro2, Hisense C2 Ultra, JMGO N3) have gotten really close to the Epson and JVC level. The gap isn't huge anymore. **Valerion Pro2** – best value. \~$2,700, RTINGS #1, amazing contrast for dark rooms. **Epson LS12000** – $4,500+, 3LCD (no rainbow), motorized lens. Reliable but not better contrast than the Valerion. **JVC NZ500** – $6k+, best blacks, but you're paying a lot for that last bit of performance. **JMGO N3** – wait for real reviews before buying. For 10-12ft seating and 120-150 inches, most long-throws work fine. The zoom range is nice but not essential. If you want best value, Valerion. If you want no rainbow effect ever – Epson. If money doesn't matter – JVC. [I have the top projector options here](https://medium.com/@dejan-k/projector-vs-100-inch-tv-2026-d0b6e18c3c14) – might help narrow it down.

r/hometheater · Best Home Projector for a New Home theater in 2026 People are only talking about the positives, but none of the issues here. No projector is perfect. It's all about finding what projector has the qualities, as a tool, to deliver the experience that you are after in your space and determining what compromises you are willing to deal with to get what you need. Before people ask, as I know they would/will, I have seen all of these projectors in multiple rooms and have tested them alone and in direct side by side comparisons. While I am very happy that companies like Valerian and XGIMI are pushing to improve the space, the projectors they offer are not perfect. They have really pushed for viral marketing and have been largely successful with it. Because of that, people have a false sense for how good these projectors are. Side note, just so people are aware, Valerian and XGIMI pay people for posts on social media and forums. They get X money off the projector or a credit as a result. This creates the viral marketing and a false sense of quality. Again, the projectors are good for the money, but they are not immune to issues like many would have you believe just like any other projector on the market. To gain something you always must give something else up. The Valerian, Pro2 and Max, contrary to how people portray it online, has some significant issues. I would not recommend the Valerian Pro2 at all. The Max is a decent projector as long as its had for UNDER MSRP, but the Pro2 is not worth it unless you are restricted to that price point. The Pro2 and Max both have issues with RBE. Yes the RBE reduction modes works to a point, but if you are RBE sensitive the rainbow effects are still there. The projector also emits a high pitch whine from the left side when that reduction mode is on. Valerian is still a single chip DLP projector and as such will have low native contrast. Laser dimming is great, but as with most projectors, there will be a color shift as the laser dims. The Titan Max has the same issues with native contrast, dimming, and RBE. It also has problems with the image being poor and users having to chase settings to get it set for optimal playback. These settings need to change per scene in order to chase what the projector can deliver. XGIMI may fix this in future updates, but as it stands right now there are significant issues when directly compared to more mature products. Im hopeful this improves in the future, but for now I would steer clear. While I am hopeful the Noir is better, I can't speak to it until a see it. For both of these projectors, and really most projectors on the market, people need to understand that you are not getting the full native contrast at full brightness. You must lower the brightness, and ideally close apertures, to gain contrast and equal or at the very least encroach on the spec'd number. The LS12000 is a more mature product, and because of that is more consistent in movie to movie and scene to scene imaging. In my eyes it's a trade or a win in every category against the Valerian and XGIMI, largely due to this maturity and no RBE, with the exception brightness when compared to the XGIMI specifically as its 2700 to 6000. However, what you give up is money as it's a more expensive platform - 6000 MSRP (though it can be had for less) vs the 2500-4000 sale prices of the others. The NZ500 is hands down the best of the bunch, but it's also the most expensive. It has the best of everything with 2 caveats - brightness and motion. Motion is a loss due to the NZ500 having no motion handling options. The JVC has the best native contrast by several magnitudes and it shows in dark scenes. JVC also has the best and most mature dynamic tone mapping making it the most consistent and best performing scene to scene. It's true it does not support Dolby Vision like the Valerian and XGIMI, but as a pro in the industry I have also felt that Dolby Vision is largely unnecessary, especially when a quality dynamic engine is used like what JVC offers. Saying all of that though, and going back to my first statement, which one is best depends on the use case. Things like throw distance, green size, brightness expectation, ambient light, budget and much more will dictate which projector is best for the job. A projector, like all other equipment in home theater, is a tool to reach an end. If used and chosen correctly you a maximize your experience. However, if chosen solely based on what someone else tells you is the best you can find yourself left wanting.
r/hometheater · LS11000 contrast at least as good as HC3500? LS12000 is what would suggest. The LS11000 is just worse at everything. Yes it’s cheaper, but what you gain from the LS12000 is well worth it. The 12000 significantly better native contrast (over double), better ANSI contrast, is brighter, plus it comes with a chief mount. If we compare the LS12000 to the NZ500 that I’m sure others will suggest, yes, NZ500 has better native contrast and tone mapping, but the LS12000 has better ANSI contrast, much better motion, is 4K120 capable, is brighter, it’s cheaper, plus it comes with a chief mount. The reason native does not matter as much as people think it does is because most content is not fully black. If you put a white square in the middle of an image with the LS12000 against the NZ500, the NZ500 blacks will be worse. It will be close, but the black will be worse. The only time it will matter is if the screen is significantly dark like credits, or the very dark scenes like Game of Thrones. With how rare those scenes are, I’d rather have the all around benefit of ANSI over native any day.
r/hometheater · LS11000 contrast at least as good as HC3500? Resolution should be one of the last things to worry about on projectors unless you have very large screens. Our eyes can’t resolve pixels that small, thus e shifting goes unnoticed. Yes, NZ500 has better native contrast and tone mapping, but the LS12000, ethic is what would suggest, has better ANSI contrast, much better motion, is 4K120 capable, is brighter, it’s cheaper, plus it comes with a chief mount.

r/hometheater · Epson LS12000 vs. JVC NZ500 for a Dedicated Black Pit/Batcave Room? Screen advice needed. For full batman cave (black walls, full light control) there is no comparison between Epson and JVC.. JVC always wins.. Best native contrast in the price range, best dynamic HDR implementation (JVC Theater Optimizer), native 4K resolution, best "analog / cinematic style" image projection / quality..
r/hometheater · Epson LS12000 vs. JVC NZ500 for a Dedicated Black Pit/Batcave Room? Screen advice needed. LS12000 brightness in calibrated mode is around 1600 lumens.. so that 2700 is mostly on the paper.. And from what I see don't have any form of dynamic HDR (very important for 90% movies). for motion interpolation (sport watching) you need to upgrade to JVC NZ800, which have this feature.. this projector will be also brighter for sport watching.. ps. if you plans any watching with full room lights turn on, please think about ALR screen..

r/projectors · Upgrading from 6050UB: Are Laser/DLP projectors losing the "cinematic feel"? (Considering LS12000 vs. Valerion Max) Get the Epson LS12000. It gives you the HDMI 2.1 features you want for your Xbox (4K/120Hz) without sacrificing the specific "texture" of the image that makes 3LCD projectors feel like a movie theater. The LS12000 is the only laser projector in its price bracket that maintains the "soul" of the 6050UB. If you decide to keep the 6050UB for movies, look into an HDFury Vertex2. It can trick your Xbox/Streaming devices into sending a Dolby Vision signal that the 6050UB can process, significantly improving your HDR experience on the older tech.
r/projectors · BenQ w4100i lens shift For this model, the native offset is 0%. This means that with the lens shift dial set to its neutral midpoint, the center of the lens aligns perfectly with the horizontal center of the image. The 60% figure refers to the total vertical travel range. Because the starting point is the center of the image, you have 30% up and 30% down from that center line. If your goal is to drop the screen significantly below the ceiling line without a physical lift, the W4100i might be tighter than you expected. If you need a significant drop from a high soffit, you may need to look at an Epson Home Cinema 5050UB or LS12000, which offer much more aggressive vertical shift (up to 96%). If you stay with the BenQ, you will likely need a mount that drops the projector closer to the top of the desired screen height.

r/projectors · 4k projector for under 6k Don't bother with epson 5050. It's a good projector (I have one) but you want to get a laser projector nowadays. Look into Epson LS12000, QB1000, or Valerion VisionMaster Max. Max offers the best value - at $4000 it presents better image quality than Epson LS12000 ( people are upgrading from LS12000 to Max).

r/projectors · Are all the great projectors enormous? If you can still find them, the JVC NP5 is about the same price and has much better black levels and is real 4k. They were recently discontinued so hard to find. I just got one for $3999 which included tax and shipping. If not, spending the extra $1000 for the Epson LS12000 would get you better black levels than you have now (but not as good as the JVC).

r/projectors · sony vpl-xw5000es vs jvc dla nz500 vs epson ls12000 JVC is the better movie projector by a huge margin. But it’s not great for gaming, which is where the Epson excels.
r/projectors · Quick question regarding Valerion Visionmaster Max I have to agree. I don’t own an Epson but rhe LS12000 was my #2 choice, and not once researching did I ever see anyone claim they’re inflating the specs. Which would make me 100% suspicious of whatever’s being claimed by the guy saying this, lol.
r/projectors · Epson Premium Projector Showdown: QB1000 vs LS12000 vs LS11000 vs 5050 vs 6050 I think it should be important to note that the 5050UB and 6050UB are 2X 1080p shifted (3840x1080 displayed resolution) while the laser ones are 4X 1080p shifted (3840x2160).
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Contrast = JVC. The NZ500 won’t have the brightness or gaming performance of the Epson, but it will absolutely give you the punchiest and most film-like image for the bucks. I say this a Canadian owner of the RS1200 who nearly bought a LS12000, and am very glad I went with the JVC. 147” acoustically transparent screen, no regrets.
r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget Between Epson and JVC? It was entirely price and value (don’t forget the Epson includes a pricey ceiling mount too). I really wanted the JVC, but wasn’t sure i could justify the extra cost when I was also getting a good deal on the Epson, and I’d probably be perfectly content with it. But last minute the wife was amazingly “get what you want” so I bit the bullet. Downgraded my audio budget a bit, and saved some money by getting a cheap open box Chief mount and ceiling adapter, and also settled on a direct-from-China screen that I’m actually 100% impressed and pleased with.
r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget No, BENQ wasn’t on my list. I wanted native 4K (so literally just Sony or JVC), and if not that, the LS12000. I nearly settled on the Epson like five times, as it was my max budget, but then I got a good deal on the JVC so I splurged… and am very happy.
r/hometheater · Jvc dla-nz500 or epson ls12000 I’m suffering through a similar choice between the exact same two projectors. For my needs (movies) the JVC is obviously the better projector, but it’s also $2000 more (Canadian) plus the cost of a ceiling mount (included with the Epson). And I have a tough time justifying spending that much more when these products almost immediately go obsolete anyways.

r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? The LS12000 has over 2x the native contrast of the Valerion, that’s one big thing it has going for it.
r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? Sorry but the native is not meaningless. Dynamic CR doesn’t always work and only improves some scenes. Native still limits simultaneous on screen contrast. There are scenes that look better on the LS12000 due to the much higher native CR. RBE is not able to be mitigated. I have seen one of these and the RBE is constant as it is for me with any 1-chip DLP. The Hookup is only 1 guy with 1 opinion. I know others who have seen them and have a very different opinion after watching them. I’m a perfect example. I see RBE always on any 1-chip and it bothers me to no end. I also hate dynamic CR systems as I see them changing and adjusting and that also distracts me. That’s why I use a JVC in the first place because the native is higher and I can disable dynamic entirely.
r/projectors · sony vpl-xw5000es vs jvc dla nz500 vs epson ls12000 Well it's only 60Hz compared to the Epson 120Hz. And it's got a bit more input lag. Those are the main differences for gaming.
r/projectors · sony vpl-xw5000es vs jvc dla nz500 vs epson ls12000 Throw out the Sony xw5000es, it's inferior in many ways. Poor HDR tone-mapping (this is the biggest one), lower calibrated brightness. poor lens sharpness, no motorized lens. The NZ500 is generally the better choice for movies due to the higher contrast and dynamic tone-mapping, but the Epson can be better for gaming due to 120Hz and lower lag. The brightness between them are similar, both just over 2000 lumens in their accurate picture modes, and both can be really quiet with just a small reduction to their max light output to lower the fan speed.
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs HC3800 The 11000 won’t have any more native contrast, but has laser dimming which is nice. The 12000 has a good amount of more native contrast and laser dimming too.
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs HC3800 The 3800 shouldn’t be any brighter than the LS12000. If it is something is wrong. Also the 3800 being lamp will be way dimmer soon due to bulb wear especially running it in the highest power mode.
r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Ultra - black levels That’s not the right contrast for the ls11000. The ls11000 does not have epsons UB optical block in it and the native contrast is around 1500:1. The LS12000 is like the 5050UB and does have the UB optical block and is around 4000-5000:1 native contrast.

r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs 3800 LS12000 is a great projector. Upgraded from a 6030ub last year and overall similar improvements that you saw with the 3800 outside of black levels, which it’s better but no wow factor on it. Feature wise, the only thing missing for me is native DV support. Might look into a Fury to add it but otherwise it’s been solid.

r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? Valerion does not have VRR. r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? The native contrast numbers are meaningless when the Valerion's EBL makes the contrast better in actual use. Yes, RBE is something to be aware of, but its impact is subjective and able to be mitigated. I don't have either of these, so I have no skin in the game here. I've linked the head to heads from The Hookup. The Pro 2 is not subjectivly a better picture than the LS12000. It's very clearly a better picture. LS12000 fanboys couldn't believe it and had him run the shootout again with different settings for the same results.
r/projectors · Valerion pro 2 vs Epson QB1000 The Pro 2 has a better picture than the LS12000 (see videos on The Hookup), and the QB1000 is pretty much just a brighter LS12000, so I'd save $5k and get the Pro 2 or a JVC.
r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? No. They Valerion Pro 2 has low-inout 4k120, VRR, and a better picture than both. What do you think they do differently?

r/projectors · Ditching my tv for a 120'' projector I have the Xbox series x in my theater room for gaming and movie watching on a Nvidia shield pro. Projector is the Epson LS12000. Projector screen is 120". Gaming is absolutely fine if viewing at an adequate distance. Personally I still game on my computer in my office. But my kids absolutely love it. I think the screen is too large for some FPS games here and there but it's gorgeous when trying to immerse yourself in something like an RPG like Hogwarts legacy or some other game that has the potential to look good.

r/projectors · 2025 4K projector recommendations? Since people typically buy only ONE projector, their experience is limited. But I'll toss in a vote for the Epson. I have owned the LS11000 paired with a 120" Da-Lite screen for almost three years and couldn't be happier with its performance. My use is similar to yours, and the 4K 120 Hz refresh rate delivers excellent quality for fast paced open world gaming on a big screen. The LS12000 has better blacks and color, so it is sure to beat the excellent experience I've had with its sibling.

r/projectors · First time buyer; jump from $5k budget to $12k range? I am in just about the exact same boat. I have recently done a LOT of research and I think an important point to take away is that ignorance is bliss. Depending upon your budget, you will love the projector you get for that general price range. That said, I want the best at a reasonable value and with tech that is recent/newer that is going to last. That said, it appears the general consensus is that while Epson is good, JVC is generally the best as it pertains to picture quality. It’s HDR tone mapping and frame sharpness and smoothness tends to be in the lead. Further, the newer NZ500 and 700 series (which is being released this month) is class leading in almost all categories. I originally ordered an Epson LS12000 and will be returning it for an NZ700z. But keep in mind the LS12000 is a $4-5k projector while the nz700 is a 9k projector (USD). But based off initial specs and reviews the nz500 would also be a better buy than the LS12000. NZ500 being at rough $5-6k range. I can go into SO much more detail as to all the reasons why JVC over everything else but also google searches will do the same.

r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs Valerion VisonMaster Max No horizontal lens shift on valerion - go epson. Talk to ProjectionHead, and he will hook you up with a great deal. Also Valerion doesn't use standard mounting points and it will drift over time.
r/projectors · Advice on buying a projector None of those projectors have native 4k resolution The cheapest projector which is a very good option that is native 4k is the Sony VPL-HW 5000ES. I would not recommend it right now due to panel degradation and manual controls at that expensive price point. For a $3,000 price point, don't buy projectors like the Hisense or short throws that have no lens shift. Keystone is BAD IF and only IF your ceilings are at a good height where this projector won't hang too low, then go for the XGIMI Horizon 20 MAX. Also if you plan to place it on a table/not mount it this is a good option. If you don't want that, the number 1 projector I am recommending due to the deal right now is the Epson LS11000. I can't justify why the LS12000 (Slightly upgraded model), is so expensive. Nevertheless, the LS11000 is a great projector with lots of flexibility and at a decently decreased price point NEVER utter the words Optoma lol The newer version of the HT4550i is the W4100i. I like Benq for Home theater, but the fan noise is quite high. I would NOT spend $3000 on the W4100i, instead a GREAT option would be to buy the $1,300 refurb HT4550i from Ebay. This is the best bang-for-your-buck option and is amazing Again, projector lens shift is SO useful, so the only Valerion I would consider would be the MAX 99.99999999% of home theater projectors can project 120 inches +, that is not a good question. The other percent is a cardboard toy. Even the cheapest projectors can probably do 150 if all lights are off I don't like ultra short throw, my opinion is that you will regret if you buy it. Many things need to be perfect for it to work out well. $1,300 refurb HT4550i from Ebay would be the best option as it has 3d support and is very affordable so you can put budget elsewhere If your space permits, then you could go for the XGIMI, but I wouldn't because for half the price I can get a projector that's as good or better refurbished. Consider the Benq W2720i also but I wouldn't go with it
r/projectors · Advice on buying a projector The max is good, don't like the pro 2. I've seen both the Pro 2 and the LS12000, and both on default settings, the LS12000 destroys the pro 2. I like the Hookup, but I don't like the screens he uses, because it doesn't show the true sharpness and black level. I would choose the LS11000 over the 12000 AND the Max. The LS11000, Horizon 20 max, and refurb HT4550i are all projectors I would choose over any of these. Maybe just me, but I would buy all these over the max.
r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs Valerion VisonMaster Max Don't have an Epson in my current home theater, but I am building a house and we chose the Epson LS12000. We chose to go new, but I really recommend going refurbished; The deal is too good to be true. I just went new because if I'm building a new house 2k isn't that much...I imagine the mount you have won't work well for 2 reasons. In my current theater, I have Benq HT3560 1. No independent pitch, roll, and yaw. 2. Epson uses 4 mounting holes, Benq uses 3. If you threw away the fourth leg of the mount, you can't manipulate the Epson to work with 3 arms. Even if you do have it, please please don't use it; An extra 150-250 isn't much with that big investment of a projector. ProjectionHead will give you a good enough discount and that can be used toward a better mount, like the best mount in the universe the Chief RPMAU. There is literally 0 drift and even if you bump into it or hit it it wont shift the image at all. I'm fairly confident that's not the case with your current mount.
r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs Valerion VisonMaster Max Talk to u/ProjectionHead Trust me you will get a great deal, better than anywhere else.
r/projectors · Epson LS9000 VS Epson LS11000 Also it's above $4,000 which is my budget. I really wish that I could but this time i will stick to my budget bc I don't want to keep going up and up and up.
r/projectors · Epson LS9000 VS Epson LS11000 Unfortunately I only want to buy new and don't need the mount so not buying the LS12000 New also bc it's way too expensive. Just out of these two, what would you choose?
r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs Valerion VisonMaster Max Oh trust me it does. I spent an extra 350 for a chief rpmau due to drift. These companies don't make scam projectors, and when they say the projectors have "dolby vision" or "imax enhanced" it's true they do have it, but only the licensing, and it looks like shit compared to good HDR 10+ If it really was THAT groundbreaking, then companies like Epson and Benq would've jumped to it. Buy a refurb from [projectorscreen.com](http://projectorscreen.com) and talk to u/ProjectionHead and he will hook you up. Refurbs literally have 0 hours on the lamp, so it will basically be brand new. Dedicated theater has NOTHING to do with lens shift. Horizontal lens shift became so useful to me that now I won't buy a projector with out it. At least for me, 2k (0k with refurb) is 1000% worth it for peace of mind, a company who's been in the biz long, way better optics, better cooling, motorized lens, motorized lens shift/focus/zoom, and let's not forget - standard mounting points that let you pair it with the best mount of all time - the chief RPMAU. Will also be much quieter.

r/projectors · Help choosing a $5,000 projector I just ordered a refurbished Epson LS12000 for $4,000. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for several years. I was also tempted by the Valerion, but I needed a longer throw and they aren’t selling the aftermarket lens needed for that yet. I had such a hard time deciding, probably why it took me years to actually do. For what I need, the LS12000 won out. ….but I don’t have it yet, so I can’t really say if it was the right call. Fingers crossed! Good luck with your decision.
r/projectors · Help choosing a $5,000 projector I don't game, but I did see several reviews saying that the 120HZ that it offers is good for gaming (though most pros use a 24" screen instead), but for family time on the switch it seems like the way to go.
r/projectors · Help choosing a $5,000 projector Just got our projector. Holy shit. It’s incredible. Even with full daylight in my house that has a ton of windows and skylights. Mind blowing.

r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? RBE is real... And it SUCKS. It may not affect you personally, but it'll definitely affect someone that comes over. IMHO, a home theater is something you share with others... so I'd also go with the LS1200.

r/projectors · Testing out Xgimi Horizon 20 Max, 5700 lumens Funnily, I just started looking into getting my first projector a couple of days ago, and happened to start my research on the day the Horizon 20 pre-order went live lol After tons of youtube comparisons and chatgpt conversations, this seems to have the price to performance/features I would want. But I am worried about the contrast and how deep the blacks are going to look. I made the mistake of watching Linus's video on the LS12000. That's what I would really want, but it is way out of my price range lol If this can at least be the same or better than the Valerion I think I'll pull the trigger.
r/projectors · Testing out Xgimi Horizon 20 Max, 5700 lumens Thanks for the info! That makes me feel a bit better about not wanting to spend $5k lol Unless some crazy news comes out about the Horizon 20 series, I'll probably wait and continue researching over the next year. Maybe I can get in early on something great that is coming out next year, or like you said, the MSRP of the Valerion will drop. I'm trying to keep my budget around $2000-2500, considering I'll need a decent 120" screeen too(so about $3000-3500 total budget). That's why the pre-order price of the Xmigi is so enticing to me.

r/hometheater · $10k budget for audio… $10k for video Here is my 2 cents after doing a crazy amount of research for my own home theater experience. I have a similar budget for audio. **Video:** If you can fit in a 120-150 inch screen then I would recommend getting an LS12000 ($5k) and a screen ($250 - $1k). If you can't then do what I am doing and that is getting the best OLED on the market, an 83" LG G4 ($5k). r/projectors · Quick question regarding Valerion Visionmaster Max Despite what was said by others, the Valerion Max is a excellent looking projector. It has been very well reviewed, and tested, by various reputable websites and professional reviewers. I have one installed at a client's home and it looks amazing. Tested my JVC DLA-X590 against it and it was sharper, and brighter by a mile with what appears as very similar black levels. The jump in brightness, color saturation, and sharpness is what really got me thinking about swapping my JVC to one. If not Valerion, then perhaps a XGimi Horizon 20 series. But, honestly, if you can't get the projector up a foot or two, then just stick with a model that offers a much longer throw distance. Epson has been quite nice, but I would then go to JVC if my budget allowed for it at all. I like Epson as a company, and I appreciate that they are calling others out for overstating the projector's brightness, but, in fairness, with best color accuracy? Epson is a LONG way off from their claimed brightness very often once calibrated for best image performance. The LS12000, rated at 2,700 lumens, measures about 1,000-1,400 lumens when in 'best' modes. So, don't really expect a massive jump in brightness to go along with the jump in contrast. [https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Pro-Cinema-LS12000-Laser-Projector-Review.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Pro-Cinema-LS12000-Laser-Projector-Review.htm) The JVC DLA-NZ500 offers a lot for the money, but mostly in native 4K panel design, and amazing native contrast. It's not nearly as bright as a Valerion or XGimi model. But, in a good theater, it completely rocks. If you haven't looked at The Hook Up on YouTube, take some time looking at his videos. This one in particular really does apply to what you are asking about... [https://youtu.be/B4\_MhHsZvkU?si=gfXojXxrvbWH41Cq](https://youtu.be/B4_MhHsZvkU?si=gfXojXxrvbWH41Cq)
r/projectors · Upgrade from JVC DLA X35 to 4K? Nothing below the Epson LS12000 would be an upgrade. Simple as that. I would go out of my way to get a newer JVC if coming from a JVC.
r/projectors · Projector Recommendations Around $3-$4k I have read, heavily, reviews. I have personally seen the 5050UB, I have a JVC DLA-X590R which is generally considered better than the 5050UB. I have seen the Valerion Max, myself, and put it up against my JVC, and was thoroughly blown away by how much better the Valerion performs compared to the JVC. Any number of reviewers have been disappointed by the LS11000 in that it doesn't match the contrast of the 5050UB which is years older. It is between the 4010 and the 5050UB in terms of contrast, and yes, contrast is king. Considering the Valerion Max has been put up against the current JVC models, which are several steps better than the LS11000, and the Titan Noir Max is compared better, from trusted reviewers than the Valerion Max, it once again, makes it a no-brainer. It's less money and looks better and sharper than the LS12000. Why would you spend even more money on the LS11000 to get a drop in quality? When I say better, I mean for HDR performance. For contrast. For motion handling. For color accuracy. Placement flexibility goes to Epson almost every day of the week. For good reason. But, the Titan Noir comes closest of any sub $3,000 DLP projector. Far better than the competing BenQ models or Valerion Pro. It's not an all-or-nothing scenario. Epson will have wins. No RBE on Epson, that's massive for people who are RBE sensitive. But, a step down in contrast from the 7 year old 5050UB is a slap in the face to consumers. Yeah, I'm informed. I do my homework. I own multiple projectors. I've seen many different models. I don't think the LS11000 is crap. It is a very solid $2,500 (maybe $3,000) projector. It is a very overpriced $4,000 projector. The competition it has is very real and the only reason to spend that type of money is because someone is seriously RBE sensitive.
r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget NZ500 first, Sony second, Epson LS12000 third. Then the BenQ models which will struggle with black levels. I'd likely get a Valerion over the JVC models at that price point. No question, I would always go for a JVC in a good theater.
r/projectors · Epson Premium Projector Showdown: QB1000 vs LS12000 vs LS11000 vs 5050 vs 6050 Once you are in LS12000 territory for pricing, the LCoS units from JVC and Sony should be in the mix as well. Especially the NZ500 from JVC. The QB1000 is supposed to deliver a significant improvement on the LS12000, which is good to hear and the added brightness certainly can be useful in certain setups. The 6050 and 5050 are basically the same model, so any claimed differences are extremely minor and rarely useful in most setups. I believe the 6050 and 5050 are now doing 3-way pixel shifting instead of just 2-way. So, they are closer to 4K than before, but not quite there. I have no idea what PRO-UHD even means beyond the marketing. Epson is really dodgy about being specific on their pixel shifting. Other than the reality that most reviewers call it out for not being as sharp as DLP pixel shifting nor native 4K from JVC/Sony. Still, it looks good at normal viewing distances.
r/projectors · Upgrade from Optoma UHD51A....? The LS12000 would be my choice. Pretty easily. As it will have a significant jump in black levels which is what you are after here.
r/projectors · epson LS11000 vs Benq W580E The LS9000 or LS12000 are better choices than the LS11000 which is kind of a sideways move from the 3800. Laser and better lens, but not a huge jump anywhere else. I'd take a LONG hard look at the XGimi Horizon 20 series which is going to be brighter than the BenQ models with solid contrast as well as lens shift and reasonable zoom range. It's been reviewing very favorably lately. I like Epson well enough, but IMO the recent DLP models are just killing it in terms of providing an incredibly sharp image with a really good 4K image and features which are just... better. I've been a huge BenQ fan for years, and still am, but they are falling behind the competition. I would stop with ChatGPT, and look at the manual, and check Projector Central for accurate throw distance measurements... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/XGIMI-HORIZON\_20\_Max-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/XGIMI-HORIZON_20_Max-projection-calculator-pro.htm) Be aware that your screen size is not a normal 16:9 screen by the measurements you listed. So, measure again if you believe your screen is 16:9. Make sure you are measuring the white area of the screen, no borders.
r/projectors · Epson 5050ub and LS11000 feet depth measurements This may be a question you want to post over at AVS Forum, or look through their existing threads to see what comes back. For example, someone posted a detailed drawing of where the mounting holes were, exactly, along with measurements. You can also reach out to Epson who should be able to answer this question for you. This looks like the LS12000 which is the same as the LS11000 chassis I believe... [https://image.son-video.com/images/article/epson/EPSONEHLS12000B/eh-ls12000b\_64cbcea213cb2\_1200.jpg?p=600](https://image.son-video.com/images/article/epson/EPSONEHLS12000B/eh-ls12000b_64cbcea213cb2_1200.jpg?p=600) So, about 336mm from back of projector to front feet. About 13.25" I couldn't find one like this for the 5050UB, but I'm sure it exists somewhere. This is one for the 5040UB which I think uses the same chassis as the 5050UB... r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget I'd get the JVC every day of the week. But, I'm a big fan of JVC and the native 4K panel is a big plus in my opinion when it comes to overall sharpness. The LS12000 is not a replacement when it costs twice as much. Epson has consistently had a $3,000 projector that was near the top of their class. They've replaced it year after year with a new $3,000 model which was just a generational upgrade. We also know that putting a laser into a projector may add about $200-$300 to the cost, at the most. So, the $2,000+ price increase from the 5050UB to the LS12000 makes almost no sense to me at all. Plus, the sub-$3,000 laser LCD market is non existent. DLP absolutely owns that space right now. Which is dumb. A laser based 3800 would be a pretty easy sell for those who are RBE sensitive.
r/projectors · Suggestions on first projector? I'd struggle not to get the Valerion Pro 2 or Hisense C2 Ultra over the LS11000. Both are nice models, but the Epson simply isn't priced where it should be IMO, and the LS12000 is where people should be spending their money if they are chasing best image quality. I'd definitely stick with a 120" diagonal or you might as well get a 100" TV instead. (yeah yeah, OLED already) You will want a tab-tensioned motorized screen to go with this if you aren't using a fixed frame screen for best results.
r/projectors · JVC NZ500 Laser D-ILA Native 4K Projector Review (Same as RS1200) @ ProjectorScreen.com I wish JVC would price this at $5K instead of $6K. I know they make a superior product overall, but I can't imagine how many sales they are losing out on to Epson. I mean, someone being told the Epson LS12000 is a serious improvement over the LS11000 may be able to justify that added $1,000 in cost, but to have to jump 50% more to the JVC is a really tough sell. Even if it is worth it. Beyond that, I tend to have no complaints at all about JVC. Mine has been great for years and I have a number of clients who have had great results with their JVCs over the years as well. The black level performance is what is what is spectacular.
r/projectors · Benq HT4550i vs. EPSON LS11000 The LS12000 absolutely can do 4K/120hz output. So, it's not a limitation of the tech itself, but may be a limitation of the LS11000 vs. the LS12000 models.
r/projectors · Benq HT4550i vs. EPSON LS11000 That's my understanding. But, I'm not going to swear by that. Getting a solid answer from Epson on this is kind of tough. I believe both models accept 4K/120 on the input, I'm just not sure if the LS11000 delivers 4K/120 on the output, or if it drops it to 4K/60.
r/projectors · replacing a projector: screen question and other options Drop in would be the Epson 4010 or 5050UB models or the newer LS11000 or LS12000 models. There are EU versions of these models I believe.
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs BenQ HT4550i I don't have the answer to that as it is more of a personal finance question. I think the 4550i is nice, but DLP generally lacks the deeper black levels that LCD and LCoS can deliver. I would get the 5050UB over the 4550i and buy a couple of replacement lamps and call it a day if I was on more of a budget personally. I probably wouldn't get the LS11000 at all and limit myself to the 5050UB or the LS12000 models. But, this is far more personal than a simple answer.

r/projectors · Help me choose between Sony, JVC & Epson please :) Ok- hear me out… I’ve got the LS12000 - predecessor to the QB1000. With the QB1000 supporting dynamic tone mapping, that’s a nice win for reducing the amount of “fiddling” to get hdr to look right. But… Over the past year, I’ve played the Dolby LLDV tone mapping trick with an HD Fury - and while it works, recognize no projector has nearly the light output for something like a TV HDR experience. I’ve used lots of input devices, played with always on LLDV, followed lots of guides on calibration and settings recommendations. Ultimately I went to SDR for my projector viewing. There are a few reasons. 1) the projector “bonk” between SDR and hdr was long on the Epson. Like almost 10 seconds. That’s painful between start and stop of every movie or stream. It got to where I could pick up on the barely audible click of a relay or something and be like “we’re just 5 seconds away from a picture now!” 2) I use the zidoo z9x for local playback. I’ve told the zidoo my projector doesn’t support hdr. The zidoo engages the Dolby VS10 processing engine and dynamically tone maps ALL content - I let it do everything from SDR to Dolby Vision. It looks extremely good. I think HDR had a VERY slight edge if I tweaked settings for each movie, but without spending time getting the dynamic range right every time, the SDR experience is probably 95% of the very best I could ever achieve with hdr. 3) I use Apple TV for streaming. I’m using it to do tone mapping for hdr content for now. I’m not sure if I will stick with this or revert to LLDV for streaming and just accept the bonk when needed. For now, I’m happy enough with SDR and the immediacy of the playback of eliminating HDR. 4) I use a 158” cinescope screen. I use the lens memory of the Epson for a CIH experience. It has worked extremely well for me. I’ve got 16:9 set for lens 1 and 2.39:1 for lens 2. I LOVE the immersion of cinescope. 5) I feel like my quest of seeing the very best I could get (shy of a madvr) was truly worthwhile for me, and I’m glad I spent the time investigating what was possible. I’m REALLY happy with the CONSISTENCY of the image quality now. My wife or kids can turn on a movie and get the same awesome experience whether I’m there or not. That was a huge win for me. If I were buying today, I’d want to see the JVC next to the Epson. JVC has legendary contrast, but the brightness of the Epson is hard to ignore. When watching sports, I like having some ambient lights on as people are getting up more often. That extra light output makes it a good experience for more viewing scenarios. If you are using for dedicated theater viewing in a dark room all the time? My prejudice of seeing JVC reviews vs owning the Epson would point me to the JVC. Just my $0.02. Does the JVC have lens memory? Good luck!!! Some of the most fun I have in this hobby is evaluating options, reading reviews, exploring little-known features, and THEN enjoying my well-researched purchase. I’m a little jealous of all your options! Have fun!!
r/hometheater · Tried upgrading my theater setup and made everything worse, I'm stuck and I don't know what compromise to go with. The room looks quite nice. I still feel there’s something far more cinematic about a projector than direct lit TV. I might just be old. That said, I absolutely love my Epson ls12000. Yes, it’s WAAY more expensive than $1,600. But zero laser speckle. Dynamic laser is solid. I’d say if you aren’t willing to increase the investment in the projector, the tv route is going to be the best bet.

r/hometheater · Best Home Projector for a New Home theater in 2026 I love my epson 6050. Had a 6040 before it. Lamp isn’t an issue bc it lasts for so long. I have a tv for daytime watching, so don’t need a super bright laser projector. Native contrast and black level are better than any of the DLPs. But it lacks the gaming high refresh modes, Dolby vision, and filmmaker mode that a lot of newer projectors now support at a similar price point. If you don’t need 3D, then the LS12000 is a great option. If you can afford it, NZ500 is even better.
r/projectors · Epson 5050UB / 6050UB or Epson LS11000 5050 has better contrast and deeper blacks than the 11000. The LS12000 is the laser update to the 5050 but it loses 3d for better 4k pixel shifting. I had a 6040 for just shy of 2 years and replaced it last April with a 6050. Lamps are $300 through a dealer, but can be found cheaper. ~9.5 months in and I’m just over 300hrs. I can get through this lamp’s life and probably another’s before seriously considering replacing it, and by then it’ll be a JVC for me.

r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs 3800 Good to see your enjoying the PJ. 👌🏻 I too have an LS12000 (after a JVC). The one issue I had to resolve was the cyan push on HDRand LLDV converted contents An HD FURY VRRoom sorted that. Together with using movies settings and using SDR mode. The best thing I did was getting a Ugoos AM6b+ with CoreELEC. Using the V10 engine to down convert Dolby vision FEL files. This really shows off the Epson capabilities. Worth considering …..
r/projectors · Valerion pro 2 vs Epson QB1000 Valerian is DLP based so if you are sensitive to the rainbow effect avoid it. Check out the sub-forum on AVSForum for more details and owner comments. Better to look for an LS12000 than the QB1000 which is overpriced (I got a new LS12k for just under £3k in the UK) If black levels are most important to you then JVC which, even though the LS12k is good when set up correctly the JVC LCoS will beat.
r/projectors · Contrast comparison between Epson LS11000 and HC3500? I have an LS12000, so not directly comparable. I would say the contrast is good. Especially using dynamic mode when the laser gets turned off in black scenes. However, as it’s LCD based its contrast and black floor is inferior to my old JVC (LCOS). The Epson contrast can be greatly improved by careful setting up. (Lots of help on AVSForum) Choosing a screen appropriate to your environment certainly helps. I’ve also been experimenting with “stop down” gel sheets that help improve black floor at the cost of overall lumens at the screen. Ultimately if black floor and contrast are a must, then look at JVC (new or used).
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es I expect you get many replies some contradictory based on personal preference and bias. My take is I moved from a JVC to the Epson LS12000. The change can be summed up as JVC excellent contrast but pow lumens. The Epson almost reverse, better lumens, but contrast poorer. Colours from the Epson I find excellent as it uses 3 LCD’s so colour and white light are equally bright. It has dual lens shift so placement is a breeze. Slightly louder than my old JVC but no issue on 50% output. No laser speckle as it uses a phosphor wheel. I use a 1.1gain white screen and get a great image. It has 120hz if you’re a gamer (Im not) whilst it’s not true 4k is 4k pixel shift I find it very hard to see any real difference in use. Admittedly, I got it for a very good price so it was a steal. The alternative in my view is the JVC nz500. But there are many options out there both long throw, short and UST. Valerion has its fan club, I have no experience to comment tho. I could go on but hope this gives you a flavour. r/projectors · Blown away by the Epson LS11000 on a 14 year old cheap Elite Screen Great projectors. The 4x shift does work very well. Personally I’ve found bright cinema to be best for SDR content (at the cost of a little contrast). The colour balance is more natural. I use dynamic for HDR. If you’re interested later, there’s dedicated owners threads on AVSforum (and on UK AVforums). Highly recommend having a read on those. There are setting there too and a Google sheets link to various folks preferred settings. Should you notice or be concerned by it there is info for the “cyan push” bug that affects HDR (I have the LS12000) if you go down the rabbit hole of needing to resolve that later that is!!. It does involve some hardware, but also allows you to convert Dolby Vision to LLDV (low taken y Dolby vision) that will play on the Epson using the HDR capabilities. Again there is a specific thread there will all the details.
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Indeed. There is no right answer. I could use a JVC, Sony or my Epson in a heartbeat. As said my main reason the swap to Epson was price ultimately. I’m hoping to get my JBC repaired shorty so will have a choice. Pros and cons and a judgement call to your own tastes and budget.
r/projectors · Best (for my uses) 4k Projector under £1000 UK I can’t choose for you but can I suggest you rule out those that cause effects you can’t stand (eg judder or RBE or poor contrast.) all projectors have pros and cons it’s a question of what suits your eyes. So you need to check which causes what before you buy of course! There’s plenty of reviews on AVForums (UK) or AVSforum (US). The “Hook up” on YouTube and a great resource on Projector Central website. If your up for more bangs for you pound also consider second hand. I’ve bought two projectors of AVForums members. A JVC some years ago and recently a brand new Epson LS12000 for 2/3 the new cost. You’d be buying from enthusiasts who care and benefit from the protections that a specialist forum gives you. Hope this helps.
r/projectors · Question about Epson (LS11000, LS12000, QB1000) vertical lens shift If you do choose to use a mirror, make sure you get a quality first plane mirror. ie the reflective surface in on top surface - not under the glass. Otherwise you’ll get a distorted image. Also, the vertical lens shift of the LS12000 can be limitless by any horizontal shift used. Ie you don’t get the full movement of both simultaneously. So, it’s worth trying to get the best alignment without using any shift and give you the option for it, if needed to refine the placement.
r/projectors · Sony VPL-570ES or Epson LS12000 [Sony VPL-570ES review](https://www.avforums.com/reviews/sony-vpl-vw570es-review.15527/) I have an LS12000 (from New) and very happy with it once it’s dialled in to my preferences. Lamp vs Laser. Both have pro’s and cons.
r/hometheater · Jvc dla-nz500 or epson ls12000 Go for the ls12000. Check out the threads on AVSforum. There are some guides on settings - which started me off. I also have some stop down neutral density filters that help with black levels (at the expense of total light output. If you’re interested in DV there’s options to use extra hardware to provide LLDV. I bought an HDfury VRRoom but there are cheaper options to do this. Again AVSforum has threads on this. Basically I’m saying it’s fun getting set up and achieving a great image. (I have some posts around showing screen shots of my Epson if you search)
r/hometheater · Jvc dla-nz500 or epson ls12000 What I would ask is are black levels really important to you? Whilst the Epson is very good it’s not as good as JVC. By the Epson is better in other ways. (Check the above reviews) I’m UK so prices are different. For me a JVC would have been twice as much as that I paid for the Epson . But it looks like you have a good saving over an NZ500. If you could return it (Epson) why not give it a try and see. If it helps, I’m very happy with my Epson after a few tweaks. But I wish the black floor was lower - purely personal concern having owned JVC. Either projector will give you enormous pleasure!
r/hometheater · Jvc dla-nz500 or epson ls12000 I say JVC (as an ls12000 owner!) you will get better black levels - if that’s important to you. I think from owning both the colours are slightly better on Epson. If you’re a gamer then the Epson does 120hz and the latency is below 20ms - no low latency on the JVC. But only you can judge which in the end. I got a very good deal on the Epson (£2k off) so it was a no brainier. Had that not been on, I’d have got JVC in a heartbeat. [NZ500 review](https://www.projectorcentral.com/JVC-NZ500-Projector-Review.htm) [LS12000 review](https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Pro-Cinema-LS12000-Laser-Projector-Review.htm)

I was fortunate to be looking and a guy on an AV forum was selling a brand new one for just under £3000. (Uk pounds). Otherwise I probably would have looked for a JVC. - I had an X3 (bulb based) once and that brand is excellent. If I were you I’d check out the thread for Ls11/12000 owners on AVSforums or the UK AVforum - knowledge is power!
r/projectors · Any idea what caused this line to pop up on the right side? Epson LS11000 Have you tried pixel shift correction in the pj menu? - I’m assuming you have that. (I have an ls12000 ) You can shift whole screen or maybe for you the sectors of the screen. Green is static but you can move red and blue. Just a thought. Otherwise contact Epson.
r/projectors · Choosing between the Epson LS11000 and LS12000 I bought a LS12000. Really pleased. Given it’s the newer of the two, it seems logical to get that. And yes I believe it’s worth it. r/projectors · I analyzed 11,347 Reddit comments to find the best projectors - here's what r/projectors actually recommends (2025) Yeah, the fact that the 5050 isn't on the list at all is shocking. The ls12000 should be in the to 3 even at that price point. I think that not having an Epson, JVC, Sony, or benq in the top 5 makes this list unreliable at best. Props on op for trying to do a meta analysis on this forum but it's ignoring that the best projectors are rarely discussed here.

Epson LS12000 lands at #12 with B+ grade - 20 positive, 28 neutral, 3 negative. Consistent sentiment for a high-end laser. EF-12 is at #16, also B+. Epson in general has reliable sentiment across the board here.

r/projectors · Are all the great projectors enormous? My Epson reps have told me it will work past 20k hrs and it won't dim or diminish in quality as it ages, it will just plum stop working one day in the distant future. There is no repairing or replacing the laser engine, I am told. Time for a brand new model. I have had the 6050 and the ls11000. As soon as I sell my 11000 I will be upgrading to the ql3000. I am salivating over that unit haha. The 6050 and the ls11/12000 are almost identical in size, super close. I would say bulb 6050 was louder than my ls11000. The QB1000 is only slightly better than the 12000. It isn't much brighter than the 12000 but I would contend it does motion scenes better.
r/hometheater · can anything beat the LS11000? I was lucky enough to attend a dealer road show. They had the 12000, ql3000 and ql7000 vs the 11000, Sony vw5000 and xw7000 I think. Both setup with the same source and same screen, but side by side to see a real time comparison. The ql7000 absolutely wipes the floor of everyone. It is soooo freaking bright. We watched zero dark thirty and the scene with the stealth choppers with the dog, we were seeing stuff on the QL that you literally could not see with either Sony. The dog's tongue was actually pink vs some weird ass grey color the sonys put out. It was literally a jaw dropping difference to see them side by side like that. We watched some football in a hotel conference room with full lights on like it was no big deal. The ql7000 is a beast.

r/hometheater · can anything beat the LS11000? LS11000 has passable but still quite bad black levels (I own one). LS12000 has better blacks and is brighter. QB1000 has similar blacks as LS12000, but even higher brightness, better motion, dynamic HDR tonemapping and is quieter.
r/projectors · Looking for a projector with a low input lag I don’t understand why would someone complain about LS11000/12000 fan noise. They are very quiet, especially if you run them at 50-70% laser power. Probably Sony or JVC projectors are quieter, but they are also more expensive. I’m gaming on my LS11000 in 4k60, mostly casual games, and don’t notice any lag when the projector is in Fast pocessing mode. One gripe - proceseing mode can’t be saved to a color profile, it is just separate for each HDMI input regardless of the selected profile.
r/projectors · Contrast comparison between Epson LS11000 and HC3500? AFAIK LS11000 has lower contrast than older high end Epson lamp models, but should be still higher than mid end models like HC3500. Brightness is similar to HC3500 but in real life it is higher most of the time because a laser source is getting dimmer way slower than a lamp. If I had a HC3500 and was thinking about an upgrade, I would go for LS12000. It’s not much more expensive than LS11000 but is brighter and has significatly higher native contrast.

r/hometheater · can anything beat the LS11000? LS12000 here, but i am also using a Lumagen Radiance Pro to do all the tonemapping and for auto aspect switching since i have a 2.40 screen with masking. Prob the best I can get for maximum brightness with tone mapping that beats the native JVC tonemapping chip. I was considering upgrading to a JVC NZ500 but its not as bright, and the next step up would be double the price (NZ800) so i am going to wait until the next generation JVC and hope it hits equal brightness and I can get native 4k.

r/projectors · Choosing between the Epson LS11000 and LS12000 I personally would suggest the ls12000 for $500 more considering the better contrast and extra warranty. Ls11000 is a solid choice as well, but side by side with the 12000, the 12000 will always win.

r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? There are many good options and you’ll get a lot of suggestions in this thread. “Best” is subjective; the Epson LS12000 that several mentioned as an example won’t have any rainbow effect or laser speckle but may not have as good contrast as other options or as wide of a color gamut. After you read through all the responses, feel free to DM me to get into details about which ones most pique your interest.

r/projectors · Refurbished Epson LS12000 vs Used JVC DLA-NX7 vs New JVC NZ500 Do you plan on keeping the lights out all of the time for viewing? If so than you will get the larger benefit from the better contrast on the jvcs over the Epson. The nz500 really is a great unit as is the ls12000. Are there features about each of those that have you leaning in a particular direction?
r/projectors · Buying advice for Epson LS 12000 The refurb from ProjectorScreen.com was refurbed by Epson themselves and comes with a full 3 year manufacturer warranty. New Age Electronics is not an authorized Epson dealer and there is no assurance that you will get a brand new unit as advertised, that it is a unit intended for the USA market, or that it will be covered by the manufacturers warranty. Then you also have to consider the type of customer service you will get from them, if any. We’ve had many people over the years contact us after “buying” an item from them, never getting it and getting the run around for weeks/months.
r/projectors · recommend me a projector and screen pairing Will the room be darkened like a theater or will it be multipurpose with lights on sometimes? A UST and ALR screen are very versatile for more well lit environments. Something like the ls11000 (or manufacturer refurbished ls12000 for same price) are great dedicated theater room projectors. A cheap silver ticket screen with the ls11/12 will give you a good image but not as sharp as the projector is capable of due to the surface texture of the screen. Higher quality/textureless screens will have sharper image by not impacting the pixel geometry. Feel free to DM me if you want to get into more details about all of the options.

r/hometheater · Which Projector? JVC DLA-NZ500 or Epson LS 120000? If you're interested in closing all the shades and turning off the lights, get the JVC NZ500. Yes, I know it's never pitch dark in NYC, but this is close enough that I would say the JVC is worth it. BTW, buy your projector **ASAP**. Epson is **increasing their prices by 24%** very soon. The new pricing is already live on their website: https://epson.com/For-Home/Projectors/Pro-Cinema/Pro-Cinema-LS12000-4K-PRO-UHD-Laser-Projector/p/V11HA47020MB It is still $5K for now at Best Buy and other retailers, but that will be changing any day this week: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/epson-pro-cinema-ls12000-4k-pro-uhd-laser-projector-hdr-hdr10--2700-lumens-hdmi-2-1-motorized-lens-120-hz-ultrablack/6495340.p?skuId=6495340 JVC will probably follow suit soon. **The tariff pricing is coming for everything.** If you are on the fence about any purchase and you have the cash to spend, just buy it ***right now.*** You can always return it next week if you change your mind.
r/hometheater · $10k budget for audio… $10k for video Yeah, you can get a better video setup for $10K than $5K. The issue is that video tech moves so quickly that anything you buy for $10K today will seem like a joke in 5 years. Just like any $10K TV from 5 years ago wouldn't be worth nearly as much today. These are the main options I would look at for under $5K: **OLED TV- 83" LG C4 ($2900):** - https://www.greentoe.com/buynow/LG_LG_OLED_Evo_C4_83_4K_HDR_Smart_TV_OLED83C4PUA?direct_shop=a06PD000007Mn7hYAC - Yes, there are technically better OLEDs than this, but IMO, it's not worth it. You're paying a couple thousand more for pretty marginal improvements. Yes, I've seen the C4 and G4 side-by-side. I've also seen it alongside the Sony A95L. I personally don't think they are $2-3K better though. **Non-OLED TV: 98" TCL QM851G ($4000)** - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tcl-98-class-qm8-series-4k-uhd-hdr-qd-mini-led-smart-google-tv-2024/6579450.p?skuId=6579450 **Projector (mixed content, dim lighting): Epson LS12000 ($4000)** - https://www.projectorscreen.com/epson-ls12000-4k-home-theater-laser-projector-with-2700-lumens-black-manufactured-refurbished.html **Projector (movies only, pitch dark room): JVC NP5 ($4000)** - https://www.projectorscreen.com/jvc-np5-4k-d-ila-home-theater-Projector-1900-lumens-same-as-rs1100.html
r/hometheater · Epson LS11000 vs 4010 The LS11000 is very clearly better, but it's also double the price. It has a laser instead of a bulb. And it does 4x pixel shifting rather than 2x pixel shifting. So it can create a slightly sharper image. Both of them have worse black levels and contrast than the Epson projectors that have the "ultra black" polarizing layer to them, such as the Epson 5050UB and LS12000.
r/hometheater · Epson QB1000 vs JVC Nz500 price UK. I wasnt expecting this. The epson is cheaper than i thought it would be whilst the JVC is more expensive. Yeah, Epson is way overpriced in the US this generation IMO. 4799 GBP is ~6200 USD. I'm not thrilled about that price, but atleast it kinda makes sense in the context of the LS12000 having a $5000 MSRP. But the QB1000 costing $8000 in the US this gen is complete Lala Land. Epson has become completely unrealistic about the performance of their product relative to it's price.
r/hometheater · Home Theater / TV Room - Projector vs UST vs TV If you want mixed lighting and a casual environment, I would probably just go with a 98-100" TV. As long as you're willing to take that 20 inch hit in screen size. From 12ft away, a 100" screen will look pretty decent. That is a 34 degree field of view. It will fall within SMPTE and THX's acceptable range. But it's not going to be cinematically immersive or anything like that. If you want to use a projector in a mixed lighting environment, you can go one of two ways: - Get the LS11000 and a standard white screen. It will look good with the lights off and you just accept that it will look kinda shitty with the lights on. - Total cost ends up being roughly $4300 for the projector and screen. - Spend significantly more on a nicer projector and an ALR screen, so that the image will look decent with some lights on: - So as it is, I don't love the LS11000's native contrast. The contrast and black levels are actually worse than the cheaper Epson 5050UB. Once you start turning on lights in the room, the LS11000's contrast will completely fall apart. So I would end up spending substantially more on the projector. $5K for the JVC NP5. Or the Sony VPL-XW5000ES/ Epson LS12000 if you don't want to deal with a bulb. - And the other half of the equation is the screen. For ALR performance, I'd want to get Seymour Matinee Wide. That's going to end up being $1550 for their 122" screen. If you buy both the projector and screen from Seymour together, they will get you a bit of a discount, but ultimately we are talking about $6K for the projector and screen together.

r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs others I have the LS11000. I have had a number of projectors, good and bad. The LS11000 was a good choice for me. I had seen the LS12000 and knew that it was already challenged when up against a lot of other offerings when comparing black levels. That made it less of an important spec right off the bat. My room is light controlled but I have light colored walls and celing. The reflectivity of those surfaces would have negated any benefit of the LS1200 over the LS1000. Since I was fairly set on an LS11000 at that point, I saw that I could get a refurb from Epson for a lot less. I have had several Epson projectors and have had to send a couple back for repairs and often wound up with a refurb anyway. After looking through others experiences over at avsforum, there was a strong chance I'd wind up with a refurb anyway. Why pay full retail then? Purchased a refurb LS11000 and it was perfect right out of the box, although the box was completely destroyed in shipping. That was the fault of UPS, not Epson. There were strange shapes cut out of the box. Looked like it had been caught in a machine and chewed up. Projector is flawless though. Zero issues. Destroyed package: https://imgur.com/a/UPgGZWV

Linus didn't mention at all the tech behind the cheap projectors and how those will die at least 10x sooner than the brand names that are DLP/3LCD yeah i'd say around $1500-$2500 is the sweet spot. after that you get into $5000+ like Linus' LS12000 and JVC NZ500

r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Second the Epson as an LS12000 and Sony 295es owner myself. Epson will punch you in the nuts with its color. The Sony produces a sharper picture and better fidelity all day long but if you want brute force power and brightness, you need to go from LCOS to 3LCD. It really is your use case on this one because the Sony makes a beautiful image I'd otherwise highly recommend too. Pic attached, that is styropyro's crazy battery vid on YouTube. I’m using an LS12000 on just 92” of screen due to room constraints and I’m loving every second of it. Around 50/50 PC gaming and movies. You also need a saved profile for sdr and hdr to get the best experience possible. Disclaimer This is my first 4k hdr pj and could be the same for all of them.

r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs Valerion VisonMaster Max Those are both excellent projectors. Valerion is a new startup and has had hiccups as it is gotten up to scale particularly getting the MAX out to people. They had quite the backlog, but it may be sorted by now. The RBE reduction feature has been reported to work extremely well, but introduces a high pitched whine. Also, it's hard to dial in correct colors since there is a cooling problem in the Max that causes laser throttling. The Valerion supports 3D, and also has Dynamic Tone Mapping which helps get the most out of HDR, as well as Dolbyvision. It's also a light cannon which allows for larger screens. On the whole it is a good product but has growing pains. The Epson LS12000 has been a huge hit since it was released at an excellent price point. There's no RBE because of the 3 chip design and it has a lot of happy users. There are issues with it, too, but not the kind of growing pain issues that the Valerion has. However, if you want 3D support, Epson no longer supports it. Personally, I think the LS12000 is ready to go, whereas with some work you can get the Max to work well. I would talk to ProjectionHead about what you want to accomplish and he could help you decide.

r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget I live in the €3k price bracket, and for what the W4100i offers in terms of color and sharpness, it's just fantastic. I just didn't need the brightness which is why I went W2720i, because I don't mind the black levels at all. My cinema experience still looks better than my local cinema, so that's my benchmark, and of course my opinion is tainted by that. I don't know what I'm missing out on, because I haven't had a more expensive projector in my room, but I know because people speak so highly of them, that JVC/Sony are in a league of their own. That said, I have seen comparisons between a high end JVC, I believe the NZ9, vs a LS12000, and much preferred the image of the LS12000. In other words, I'm leaning way more towards high color brightness, and high HDR impact.

r/projectors · New to this - help me solve projector decision paralysis: LS12000, x3100i, Valerion, or something else? I think you can get an ls12000 for closer to 4k if you message dealers. I think some discount off MSRP is common. I just bought one from a private seller off AVS forum for $2,800 and couldn't be happier. It's much closer to a TV than my other projector in image quality but it's still not going to match a TV for e.g., solid HDR. I would much prefer this projector and 120-in screen to even a 77-in OLED unless I'm sitting extremely close. Also, if you are willing to invest a little bit more and make some trade-offs, you could get an AVR screen which makes poor light control less of an issue (but there are some compromises).

r/projectors · Looking for a projector with a low input lag Here’s what I’ve found in my hunt for something quieter. Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is surprisingly quiet at 28dB, great 4K visuals, and insanely low input lag (\~4.6ms). It's laser-based and seems like the best balance for movies + casual gaming. Downsides? Not much user feedback out there yet. Epson LS12000 has amazing HDR and overall image quality. Input lag is solid for casual play, but fan noise reports are mixed. BenQ LK936ST looks perfect on paper (16ms lag, 5100 lumens), but there's barely any info on real-world usage or how loud it actually gets and sony VPL-XW5000ES profuces beautiful image, and fairly quiet. I have the nz500 in a dedicated pitch black theater and the picture is stunning. Any ambient light definitely reflects on the screen and instantly ruins the picture. r/projectors · Refurbished Epson LS12000 vs Used JVC DLA-NX7 vs New JVC NZ500 I'll probably keep the lights down 99% of the time. I'll primarily be using the projector to watch 4K Movies and TV Shows, but I'll also use it for watching sports and occasionally playing games on a PS5. I like that the Epson offers 4K / 120hz support for Gaming, but my primary use case is watching TV and Movies. I also like that I'm able to purchase a refurbished unit for about $2k less than the JVC NZ500. With the JVC I like that it offers Native 4K, although with the updates Epson has made to the pixel shift tech is there still a noticeable difference in resolution? I also like that the JVC offers Dynamic Tone Mapping and what I would imagine is a more impactful HDR presentation. I've been using LG OLEDs for the last few years so the HDR presentation and Contrast is important to me. Right now I'm leaning towards the Epson to save money, but I'm trying to decide if it's worth spending the extra money on the JVC. The used NX7 is an interesting option but I'm concerned about buying one out of warranty so I think it's mostly between the LS12000 and NZ500.

r/projectors · First time buyer; jump from $5k budget to $12k range? The thing is, you can get 4K and laser now for not a lot of money. The LS12000 is increasingly looking pretty awkwardly placed, and the new QB1000 even more so. The pricing increasingly doesn't warrant it based on performance. Epson's own 5050ub that's bulb fed is $2 grand and basically at the very least trades blows with the LS12000 on performance. But yes, bulb-fed, not laser. Pricing for the QB1000 (the successor to the LS12000) is in the same park as JVC who uses LCoS tech, not 3LCD, which gives them a big edge, along with their new dynamic tonemapping. Frankly, almost everybody would be better off with a JVC. There's also disruptors coming in from below - like the Valerion Visionmaster Pro that's currently on pre-sale at $2000. It's technically a lifestyle projector without cool and useful things like optical lens shift but it could easily be placed in the ceiling and perform very well. Supports all the cool shit too, like Dolby Vision, has really solid measured contrast and the reviews I've seen including from The Hook Up all gush over it. So the day of needing five-figure projectors for great quality may be numbered.
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs others That's your call, obviously, pick what you think is the best choice for you. Personally if I could have one handed to me for free, the Valerion Max or a QB1000 I'd pick the Valerion 11 times out of 10 at this point. The QB1000 is an LS12000 with slightly better dynamic hdr processing, and they're very similar. Fine projectors (like I said, I have an Epson, not like I dislike the brand or anything) but imo value for money with the QB1000 is absolutely not there. You're just a hair's breadth away from JVC's entry level.
r/projectors · Epson QB1000 3LCD 4K Laser Projector Review @ ProjectorScreen.com Epson have had a bunch of those a while now. First (and still relevant with 8000:1 contrast today for a fourth the price of the 1000) the 5050ub which is bulb fed but otherwise almost identical, and then the LS11000 and LS12000 which are lasers. The LS12000 is a very mildly worse variant of the QB1000.

r/hometheater · Epson LS12000 vs. JVC NZ500 for a Dedicated Black Pit/Batcave Room? Screen advice needed. Unfortunately, it turns out that my net throw distance is limited to just 3.10 meters. Out of my total room length, 50 cm is taken by the projector setup and 40 cm is lost behind the screen for the speakers. Because of this tight 3.10m clearance, none of the high-end projectors I'm considering (Epson, JVC, or Sony) will work for a 120" screen. Their lens throw ratios simply require more depth than my room allows. To solve this, I have only two options: 1- Either change the projector entirely—even though I really want one of these three . 2- sacrifice the speakers behind the screen and place them on floor stands instead. However, the main challenge with the second option is my center speaker (the Ascend Acoustics Sierra Horizon V2), which is massive and very difficult to position on a regular stand under the screen.

r/hometheater · Best Home Projector for a New Home theater in 2026 For a dedicated 120–150” home theater at around 10–12 feet viewing distance, you’re already in the range where image quality differences really come down to contrast, black levels, and lens quality rather than just brightness or specs on paper. That’s why models like the Epson LS12000 and JVC NZ500 are still considered the safest “endgame” choices if your priority is true cinema-like depth and you want to install once and not think about upgrades again. The newer triple-laser projectors like the Hisense C2 Ultra, XGIMI Horizon 20 Max, Valerion Pro 2, or JMGO’s upcoming N3 Ultimate are definitely closing the gap and offer a lot more convenience with smart features and easier setup, but they still don’t quite match JVC-level contrast in a fully dark room. Something like the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is a good example of this newer generation, very easy to place, strong brightness, and flexible enough for changing room plans, but more focused on convenience than absolute reference image quality. If I were you, I’d mainly decide based on whether you want “best possible cinematic image” (Epson/JVC) or “modern all-in-one ease of use” (triple laser options), and the biggest thing to lock in early to avoid headaches is your exact throw distance and screen size before choosing anything.

Although it was nice and it was laser, at that time it was not a whole lot more spectacular than the 5050UB I already owned hence the putting it back in the box and sending it back to Epson...

r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Don't have a comparison but I can help you with the price if you're willing to purchase online since I just went through this and live in Canada also. I emailed 5-10 online retailers in Canada and asked for their best price. I also messaged the authorized retailers on the Epson website and asked for their best price. Out of all of them the best price I got was $6299. But, electronicsforless has a 5% price matching guarantee and they said "As advertised on our website, our company offers a 5% price beat guarantee on any thing we sell. So all you need to do is find the very best price in Canada from an authorized Epson dealer and we will simply beat that by 5%". And they confirmed they are an authorized seller. I'm going to send them the $6299 email I got and they'll take $315 off.

r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es I'm now leaning towards the Epson, but haven't ruled out the Sony.. JVC is likely out. I was watching a video on YouTube with Youthman and some other guy, and they were comparing (granted they were high end models) Sony vs JVC, and they made a comment that even if you have a small light (pot light or cabinet light or something), it really impacts the JVC, whereas the Sony or something with higher Lumens can fight through it. I do from time to time have my pot lights set to 10% - it's not much but I'm not always in pitch black. The Sony can handle it decently (not great, but definitely watchable if I'm watching hockey or football for example with some lights on). As I also said, movies are not a big part of my daily viewing. A lot of Youtube, Plex, Live tv, gaming, and movies - in that order. I may watch 1 movie every 2-3 months. It appears the Epson or Sony are far better if that's your usage patterns. If you are a huge movie buff and never turn your lights on, then inarguably it's JVC. I don't use my HT room as a pure-movie watching space, it's a general space that's light controlled where most of all our general viewing happens. Just 1000$ CAD more for the Sony 5000ES, and everything on there is manual (lens adjustment, etc). but it's still in the game for me simply because the HW40es has been so outstanding - it really is a gem of a projector.
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Most youtube/tv shows don't really do HDR, and since my movie watching is only about 5%, I would probably only benefit from HDR in gaming and not sure that's a big deal for me! Also they are willing to drop the Epson by 500, which makes it a 2000 CAD difference!
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Appreciate both your responses. Was at the shop today, they have an LS12000 in stock unopened and willing to drop it by 500$, they would also sell me an Onkyo NR7100 for 500 off too. I wasn't leaning Epson, but at a 2000 difference between the LS12000 and the JVC, I am not sure it will be that noticeable, granted I believe the Sony/JVC are sharper overall, it may not be something I perceive when not looking at it side by side. They also have an NZ30B - I know it's a rebadged Benq I think, but they would give me that for 3500 (about 2500USD), don't know much about this projector compared to the HW40.
r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es Thanks appreciate it, I was at the shop this morning and they are willing to give me 500$ off the LS12000 (they had one in stock unopened, I guess they want to unload it). As I said in my OP, primary YouTube/tv shows, some gaming, but barely any movies.

r/projectors · Help choosing a $5,000 projector I was in the same situation as you, wanted the LS12000 but throw range just wasn't working great for my area. Ordered A VM Max because the throw range + later can put the second lense in it and maybe take it outside or something. The 3D and low input lag on game mode was a secondary plus as well. I'll be in a light controlled room shooting 135" at 10Ft throw and 11/12 foot viewing distance. I've got a pretty nice surround system to setup for it already, so I'm going to sell the included speakers and recover about 25 percent of my 4k Cost hopefully bringing the unit to a total of $3k, which I feel like for 3k the VM Max is pretty killer value.. First projector, pretty pumped to setup the theater room.

r/projectors · 2025 4K projector recommendations? hopping in a bit late to this thread so apologies: I have had a Optoma UHD50X for 3.5 years that has been great 110" screen. Lots of hours, 1600 to be exact, watching sports, movies and playing video games non-competitively (mostly sports games). I now have a single pixel that has died and from what I have read that is the beginning of the end for this model. Not an annoyance yet but thinking ahead for planning purposes. The projector is set up in the movie room/man cave so not the primary TV in the home. What would be a recommended 4k uhd equivalent? I've seen here and elsewhere the Epson LS12000 but thats double the $2k I previously spent so unsure if that is worth the splurge or not. Have also seen the BenQ TK860i which seems to be closer on price but unsure how that compares to what I presently have. Any help/guidance is appreciated

r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs 3800 3800 at Medium power. I was shocked also. I really wanted to keep it. Thankfully, best buy accepted the 12000 return as defective with no restocking fee. What size screen are you using. When I reduced the image down maybe 25% the ls looked great with increased brightness of course
r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs 3800 I also went from a 3800 to a ls12000. Ultimately, returned the 12000 and went back to the 3800. The 12000 definitely had a sharper picture , but both my wife and I missed the extra lumens the 3800 gave us on our 150” 16x9 1.1 gain screen. I was shocked I could not get the 12000 bright enough even in dynamic mode 100%. The ls 12000 actually gave us headaches because it wasn’t bright enough. May upgrade screen to 1.4 gain and go 165” and maybe try the 12000 again. Still very satisfied with the 3800. Also, enjoying the extra $5K in my account. Definitely a quality improvement I am guessing on any screen 120” or smaller. Can’t see where the quality improvement comes even close to justifying the price difference The optoma 4400 pro looks interesting. Dual laser, 5000 lumens, and dolby vision capable- no in depth hands on reviews yet
r/projectors · Epson LS12000 vs. LS11000: worth it for better black levels/contrast in a living room with white walls and ceiling? Or is it wasted in an imperfect setup? Watch screen size. I returned the ls12000 and went back to my Epson 3800. The ls12000 was just too dim for my 150” 16:9 1.1 gain screen. I didn’t feel the qb1000 was worth the $8k for the extra lumens
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 vs HC3800 Get the 3800. Returned a 12000 on a 150” screen - it was too dim. 11000 even dimmer. 3800 looked way better on my screen

r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? To be fair, the Epson is known for this green shift. Sure, it can be corrected with calibration and by lowering the brightness, but needing to make those adjustments is a downside when you're looking at it from the average user's perspective. Also, the whole reason he made a second video was to satisfy LS12000 owners who were disappointed by the first comparison. This isn't a case of valerion owners convincing him to sabotage the LS12000, he used the settings he was told to be LS12000 owners both times. I’m not saying the Valerion is better than the LS12000 or the other way around. The point was to show how both perform out of the box without calibration, which is how most people will actually use them. The Hook Up could have explained that a little more clearly, but that doesn’t make the comparison invalid.
r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? Keep in mind, this is an informal comparison; he goes into far greater detail with comparisons and reviews on his main channel. Regardless, the out-of-the-box accuracy is a very good detail to be aware of for a prospective buyer. He matched the settings and made the comparison as fair as possible without calibration. The green tint may be due to the Epson running at 100% laser luminance. Though the valerion was also set to max laser luminance and it has no such issues. This is a real out-of-the-box experience. Both projectors were factory reset and set up using the best recommended settings from AVSForum members. Neither one was calibrated, so any issues you see with the Epson apply to the Valerion as well. The difference is the Valerion still managed to look this good without professional calibration, which is a big deal for the average user.

r/projectors · Buying advice for Epson LS 12000 I am very satisfied with this projector. We have a dark room and don’t find the need to go over 75% brightness at which the projector is not very loud. As you raise brightness it does become louder but will the noise gets drowned out by the movie / TV audio. TLDR, no concerns about loudness. We have a 120” screen and it works fine. We needed a long throw and this fit the dimensions for our theater room. I would recommend using a throw calculator to precisely measure the throw distances needed for your particular room dimensions.

r/projectors · Need help choosing projector 3 to 5.5K budget Yeah, I'm very interested in the better black. Although 1 thing to consider is I still need to buy a screen as well. And I have no idea what to get, but I guess anywhere between 400€ and 1200€ for a 120 or 150inch. r/projectors · Viewsonic px749-4k vs Benq tk710-4k vs w2720i Well, I just spent 30 minutes at Projector Central. I was seeing which projectors fell within my 16-foot throw distance. r/projectors · 4K Projector Upgrade Help That does look nice, although a side by side comparison would be more helpful ;-)
r/projectors · 4K Projector Upgrade Help I suppose I could wait, although I'd probably be hoping for a price drop on the current models, rather than getting a newer one. I think I'm currently leaning towards either the TW7100 (which I fear I'll regret as its not as much of an upgrade), but will literally be a drop in replacement, so will make installation quick and easy. The other option is the LS11000, which will be a PITA to install as my retractable ceiling mount isn't big enough, or will at least need moving further away from the wall to accommodate. From what I can tell from reading various articles there isn't a lot of difference between the LS11000 and the LS12000. The LS12000 does come with a bunch of extras that I don't need, so its hard to justify the additional £800 on it.

I went from a Epson LS12000 to a JVC NZ7, the NZ7 is better in every way (except less bright). 8k is not noticeable, I don't see much of a difference between 8k pixel-shift and the native 4k image. So I would just ignore that feature.

r/projectors · Should I buy Epson5050UB after I got the vertical lines problem on Epson5040UB? After doing more research and all your input, I am thinking of Epson LS12000, retailing for $4999/-. But, found a reddit link to [Projectorscreen.com](http://Projectorscreen.com) saying these are the ONLY authorized people to sell LS12000 and that too ONLY refurbished(They have it for $3999/-). But, chatting with the agent, 20% restocking fee ($800), extended warranties etc, got cold feet.

r/projectors · Benq HT4550i vs. EPSON LS11000 LS12000 is too out of my price range. Maybe refurbished I could squeeze it just about 4k but I think I'll give the X500i a shot. If its 95% of the LS11000 with better blacks I will be very happy.

r/projectors · jvc lx-nz30 or epson ls11000? So it may not be worth it to me to pay the extra grand for the 12000 over the 11000? That's alot of money to MAYBE notice a slight difference. And having one or the other running in my basement it's not like I will have a side by side comparison to even be able to study subtle differences...right?
r/projectors · Epson LS11000 calibrated lumen brightness question vs 5050UB Nice. There are no longer any refurbished 11000s anywhere for sale. Projectorscreen.com is selling a refurbished LS12000 for $3900, but that is over a grand more, without a the included mount....

r/projectors · New 2024/2025 Epson projectors Yes you should. You shouldn’t buy a LS11000 anyway because the native contrast is about ~2,000:1 where as the native contrast on the LS12000 is about 5,000:1 That’s a significant difference and to most enthusiasts would be worth the extra 20% price increase.

r/projectors · LS12000/XW5000ES/NZ500 coming from the HW40es The Epson is not going to be as smooth or natural as the the JVC or Sony. It’s bright, but pushes green if you’re going bright and blacks take on a purple hue. JVC is going to have the best blacks and is a beast with high bit rate content like BD and Kscape. Sony is going to be very balanced with the best motion, color, and upscaling. If you’re going primarily disc based movies and are going to get a professional calibration go JVC. If you’re more streaming and want out of the box performance go Sony. Added plus is the 5000 has the same mounting pattern and throw as your HW40. If you’re using a control system the protocols are the same so it’s a super easy upgrade.
r/projectors · Gaming Projector Recommendations (~$6k) The Sony XW5000ES has better blacks, color, contrast, and motion vs the Epson and can is very good for gaming with some limitations. It has very low input lag at 4K60 and even better... Around 12ms at 2K120. However, it will not ruin at 4K120.

r/projectors · Projector for 5m throw distance to 110 inch screen You could get a used Epson LS12000 although I’m not sure what the used projector market is like in Australia. You could also get the Valerion Visionmaster Max with the additional long throw lens.

r/projectors · sony vpl-xw5000es vs jvc dla nz500 vs epson ls12000 I personally use the sony 5000es for the past 2 years and still love it. I do use it with a madvr envy though, as some have said the hdr tone mapping is weak compared to the JVC. I would definitely choose between the sony or JVC (in my region the sony is $1000 aud cheaper) and would only consider the epson if u game a lot and need 4k/120

r/projectors · Gaming Projector Recommendations (~$6k) Oh..the Epson LS Ok Corall is old and still selling for top dollar. Super. Theyve been ridin high on the backs of our boys here at home for quite some time. It's how they get their sick kicks. I recommend a certain 4k projector to a lot of people. For the price its simply the best. But Im not going to recommend that to you. Nor am I going to recommend the one that beat it in a side by side full review. Not going to recommend the one that beat out that either. The one Im going to recommend will kick Epsons ass so hard they'll wake up announcing their new color copier with multifunction fax built in, in 1994. The Valerion Visionmaster Pro. Im not going to rattle off its numerous world leading specs, let's just say it's as advanced as Steve Jobs was in his iPod/iTunes era. But here's some you can play around with. 17.6ms @ 4k 60hz and 9.1ms @ 1080p 120hz Right it doesnt go on the ceiling. They found that guys start to believe they live at a movie theater so no more of those. Enter the sleek, elegant lifestyle projector and go ahead, turn on a light and be rid of black paint/ Tim Burton movie posters.

You will love it. Hard to beat it without spending like 5x that price.
