r/projectors · What's the best Portable projector? I would agree w the ones suggesting Epson EF21 bcs it’s a good option for a mini portable projector. It’s got good picture quality (esp. from the price pov), the clarity and brightness of the image is pretty impressive, ngl. It’s also fairly easy to set up and use, esp. If you’re using it for movies. It’s not the best for gaming due to the lag that is pretty noticeable, and the sound quality isn’t the best bcs projectors like these don’t always have the best speakers. I’d say if you’re wanting to explore more reviews and good recommendations, check this site called reddit vetted which sums up a lot of reviews from reddit and makes it easier to go thru, and it's updated to recent stuff so yk it's not suggesting you old stuff.

r/projectors · Epson ef-21 review Dang, photos look fantastic. I assumed it was 4K until you posted it was 1080p, I'm still using an Epson Home Cinema 2040, which is an older 1080p, 3 LCD model, and it is pretty damn great. Eventually I will get a 4K projector but very happy with my Epson.

I Just wanted to post an honest experience of what I am viewing, like I say each and every one of you have provided utterly sound commentary and steered my purchasing decision. I suppose I just love projectors and the gravitas of watching a film on the big screen. All the best to you I think ultimately I’d like a dedicated cinema room but for now this is kind of great all round for my viewing needs. I will say that I appreciate totally that it’s not for everyone, but I do highly recommend it for a modest budget imo decent little projector,,,,cheers

r/projectors · Epson EF-21 vs Epson Home Cinema 1080p EF-21 for sure with 1000 lumens you could get a bright 120 inch screen easily also laser runs cooler and very quiet then the hot bulbs also bulbs start to flicker after 400 or 600 hours of use, if ran in ECO mode witch you will do to the high noise levels I know I had the HC1060 I now have the EF-11 you also get better black levels

r/projectors · Epson ef-21 review I found this projector by chance and am wondering why not more people are talking about it. Laser projection, 3CCD and a respectable 1000 ANSI linens for this price is very attractive. The cheapest laser projector after this that I could find was the Nebula Capsule 3 and that was double the price, less lumens and no 3CCD. Bit of background, I came from an Epson Home Cinema 2100 (TW5600) which I unfortunately had to sell - or actually I had to sell the house with the cinema room it was in. My new house is very small so I needed something portable. I also liked Epson and their 3CCD technology. This EF-21 is the perfect match. I only watch in the dark so the 1000 ANSI is fine (the TW5600 had 2600 ANSI and was ok in daylight).

r/projectors · Help with choosing projector No projectors do well competing with a lot of light in the room. That's physics and it IS as simple as that. A TV absolutely trounces a projector in that regard. Likewise, you are looking at the 'portable' projector category which is pushing maximum light output near 1,000 lumens. But, reality may be a fair bit less for the Epson and a good deal less for the GV50. This video (different Epson model) got over 900 ISO lumens from the Epson and only 325 from the GV50. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc\_Y-mFY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc_Y-mFY) As a very simple statement, if you want more light in the room, get the brightest projector you can, even if there are a few minor tradeoffs. Epson delivers a great looking image overall, and the EF21 is a solid choice that I would take in a second over the GV50 if I was using it in a room with any ambient light. But, it will only go so far with fighting ambient light. Keep in mind that models like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra, or the Soundcore Nebula X1 or XGimi Horizon 20, are pushing over twice the amount of light out of their projectors with their lifestyle models, and they are starting to add zoom and lens shift to some models as well. These models don't have to cost $1,000+ more than what you are spending, but they do cost more. Keep an eye out for good deals.

I have a no-name $200 Amazon projector that also has Google TV and it seems way snappier than the Epson. I only use the EF21 for projection mapping so the first thing I want to do is change to HDMI input, but I've learned to wait nearly a minute after the home screen appears before attempting to switch inputs. It's like it has to pull all the planets in to alignment before it'll smoothly navigate. Kind of like a 10 year old budget Android tablet. Odd that the cheapo GTV projector doesn't have the same problem.

r/projectors · Screen material recommendations please Higher Gain = Brighter. If its higher than 1.3 you can get Hotspotting. For your 100" Screen 1.0 matte white would be fine. If you want better Blacks and perceived Contrast you´ll need a grey negative Gain Screen around 0.9. It should not be lower than 0.8 because then it will be too dark with your Projector. 0.8 Gain grey is basically 20% darker than matte white 1.0 Gain.
r/projectors · Epson ef 21 or fh52 ? FH52 is a 2020 Model with a Bulb and basically the same LCD Panels! Buy the newer laser Model. If you want to improve Blacks and perceived Contrast you can achieve this with the right Screen.

r/projectors · Best Projector to Buy in 2026? (Price, Brightness, Resolution) The EF21 is probably worth $500, unlike the cheap Chinese crap we keep telling people not to buy. I have a ViewSonic M2e, a similar mini projector, and it works well in dark rooms at smaller screen sizes. But it’s not going to be anywhere near as bright as the first three projectors the OP mentioned. (The Freestyle is overpriced, and very dim.)

r/projectors · Vidda(Hisense) C3 ultra (short review) and buying advice for EU I mean I dont want to risk warranty coverage if its grey import so whats the best alternative? Mars 3 is currently on sale for 1099 AUD in amazon but its black basically look gray in all reviews so I want something with decent contrast and black. Waiting for Hisense M2 pro to go on sale again, missed the 999 AUD sale, now its 1700 AUD. I am keeping Epson EF21 as my last backup option and waiting for it go on sale as well. I dont really need speakers as I have external Edifier D32 speaker.

r/projectors · Screen material recommendations please Received the Epson EF-21 a few hours ago and OMG! It’s bright even at the lowest settings with daytime ambient light. Cue Fred from SpongeBob SquarePants going “My eyes!!!!!!” Developed the same eye pain I get when I look at TV screens. A larger screen will have to wait until I adapt to the drastic increase in brightness.

r/projectors · Deciding between Epson epiqvision ef-21 and Benq TH575 Im considering the same purchase. Unfortunately I have seen a r4eview where the previous gen EF-12 had over 100ms of input lag. I havent been able to confirm this from any other source. Its 1080p so input lag would be at least 30 something ms anyways, but the EF21/22 seem to be almost the same, so I cant say for sure that the latency is low. Honestly I would love 4k, but the autokeystone, and integrated featuyres make it look liek its one of the easiest to set up. r/projectors · Deciding between Epson epiqvision ef-21 and Benq TH575 I recently bought the Epson EF-21 (Laser, 1,000lm) and compared it with the LG PF1500 (LED, 1,400lm) and the Epson EB-U42 (Lamp, 2,200lm in Eco mode). The image quality was good and the best among the three. The brightness seemed almost the same as the others in ambient light, but the fan noise was significantly quieter and much less annoying compared to the others. One possible drawback is the limited throw distance. However, this is not an issue for my use case, as I place the projector on a table and project onto a wall (automatic keystone correction works great). But if you need precise throw adjustments, BenQ might be a better option. Additionally, the built-in Google TV might feel unnecessary if you don’t plan to use it. I appreciate its low energy consumption (max 108W), long light life, and simple cabling. Overall, I’m satisfied with it.

r/projectors · Xgimi Horizon Ultra naturally aims upwards - are all projectors like this? Anything but straight. And also the amount of keystone is actually quite limited. It's comically frustrating. The Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro just came out, but I assume that it will have the same issue. And it's 50% more expensive than the T2. The newly announce Epson EF-21 and EF-22 might be the best option, for a decent portable projector, but it's going to be 3-4x more expensive than the T2, to the point that it kind of defeats the purpose.

r/projectors · Epson ef-21 review Acabo de comprar el mío a un super precio en Perú, estaba entre este y el EF61 sin embargo por el precio me fui por el EF21 quisiera saber como ha sido tu experiencia si aun tienes el proyector. Anteriormente tuve un Proyector Havit PJ209A Pro y para mi experiencia fue muy bueno lo malo era que cada cierto tiempo tenia que desarmarlo por completo y limpiar sus componentes internos por el polvo, no sé como sea Epson con sus proyectores con el tema del ingreso del polvo
