r/budgetprojectors · U.S. - What do you guys think? If you're still considering different options, the BenQ TK705i is worth checking out. It fits comfortably within your budget, has plenty of brightness for a 120" screen, and is a great all-around choice for movies and gaming if you ever decide to hook up a console later.
r/projectors · Looking for finished ceiling mount projector install pics (ideally in living rooms) Looking forward to the photos too. The projector tends to look much less noticeable once it's mounted and aligned with the room. The ceiling mount and cable management usually have the biggest impact on the overall appearance.
r/projectors · Choosing a video projector for a semi-lit room One more model worth checking out is the BenQ TK705i. It seems to fit your use case pretty well, It has good brightness for a semi-lit room, plenty of performance for a 110–120" screen, and it sits right around the budget you're considering.
r/projectors · Hisense M2 Pro or Xgimi Horizon Ultra 4k Might be worth throwing the BenQ TK705i into the mix as well. It seems like a pretty good fit for what you're after, especially if it's mostly going to be used for movies. The optical zoom is definitely a nice feature if placement flexibility matters to you.
r/projectors · First projector setup: BenQ TK705i vs TK700, and what 120-inch screen should I buy? I have the TK705STi, and it's been great for movie nights. Between the two, the TK705i seems like the better fit for your setup. Since your room can get very dark and movies are your main priority, the extra features make it worth considering. For the screen, a decent matte white screen would be my choice over a very cheap ALR screen. In a light-controlled room, it usually delivers a more natural and consistent image.
r/projectors · Best projector for watching sports in a bright room? For afternoon sports with a lot of ambient light, the BenQ TK705i is definitely worth considering. Brightness becomes the most important spec surprisingly quickly in that environment, and this one tends to perform well for sports, gaming, and general living-room use. Black levels matter for movies, but daylight usually changes the equation quite a bit.
r/projectors · Help with a new home theater setup Honestly, for your use case, I’d seriously consider the BenQ TK705i as well. Your room isn’t fully light controlled, and the TK705i’s 3000 lumens work really well for sports, casual movie nights, and social viewing with ambient light. It’s also much cheaper than the W4100i, so you could put more budget into audio/subwoofers instead. Main tradeoff: * W4100i → better blacks / dark-room cinema * TK705i → brighter, more versatile living-room projector Since you mentioned sports, hanging out with friends, and some ambient light, I honestly think the TK705i may fit your actual usage better. Plus it already has Google TV + licensed Netflix built in.

r/projectors · BenQ X3100i + VIVIDSTORM ALR Long Throw Obsidian My one of these screens is due to arrive today and I am excited/nervous how the screen will be. Would love any info you can give about issues with the screen you mention, etc.. I have my projector hanging upside down like yours (BenQ TK705i) but still waiting for the electrician to schedule a visit. But distance/angles wise it should work well. Hope you enjoy it - the picture looks amazing and I am hoping for a similar result with mine.
r/projectors · BenQ tk705i rainbow question You'd need to put the splitter between your receiver and the TV/Projector.. not between the Shield and the Receiver (I think). I've just bought the TK705i as a matter of fact. There is no laser speckle of course.. but RBE is noticeable (this is my first DLP projector so I can't comment on how noticeable the RBE is compared to other projectors - but I can notice it for sure). Its not noticeable in ALL movies/content, but its there. Honestly there isn't much choice for non DLP projectors in AUS.. its either REALLY expensive Epson models, cheaper Epson models (but with lamp lighting - no thanks). I am still waiting to permanently install it, so my experience with the projector is just every now and then when i can be bothered to set up my temporary screen and tripod. Otherwise - its plenty bright and a very clear picture.. but also note my temp screen is for front/rear projection - so a LOT of light passes through, which probably makes the image not as good as it will be when i get a proper screen. Good luck!
r/projectors · Looking for finished ceiling mount projector install pics (ideally in living rooms) Today I assembled the ceiling mount and attached it to the projector. I climbed the ladder and held aloft my projector for the wife to evaluate. She said ‘it doesn’t look as bad I thought it would’ - so it’s game on! Next weekend I will bolt the bracket base plate to the ceiling and get some pics.
r/projectors · Looking for finished ceiling mount projector install pics (ideally in living rooms) Thanks for the feedback and great info. The bracket I’ve bought is the CM00G3 which has an option to mount either with no pole so the projector sits about 5” off the roof or with pole installed, it drops the projector 15.5” off the roof and can be adjusted to drop further from the ceiling. At 15.5”, with projector upside down (and our tall ceilings) the projector lens will be very close to the desired top-of-image position with no tilting so in this regard there would be only very minor/no digital image correction required. Like I say - design wise, the ceiling mount should be close to ideal for the space - it’s just the looks, so I was hoping to see at least a few other people had tried this. Anyway the wife has agreed to let me install it then she will assess, so fingers crossed. I’ll share some pics when it’s done (unless the wife revokes her approval mid install 😄) Thanks
r/projectors · Help deciding between projectors Thanks for that - unless I am misunderstanding it - I thought the x3100i was 3300 lumens ANSI vs TK705i which is 3000 lumens ANSI. But x3100i is also 50% more expensive - so if the TK705i can hold its own against it I will definitely choose that and save the difference.

r/projectors · Need projector recommend for my ALR screen We've had the BenQ TK705i (4LED DLP) after our GP500 bit the dust (BenQ's support was second to none; they were very responsive and helpful). It's been a daily driver for both gaming and movies (4K and standard Blu-rays) for about a month, and the picture quality (brightness and contrast are excellent), low input lag, and ease of setup have been great. Also, I believe it's around $1600 USD. Feel free to DM me any questions if you're curious.

r/projectors · Grey or white screen with 3000LUMENS 150" Definitely! I like it for movies and playing with my kids. At 90" in a dark room, the TK705i is actually total overkill. It’s a very bright projector designed to handle much larger images or rooms with some ambient light. At 90" you gonna have to reduce brightness or use ECO mode.

r/projectors · Best projector for my use case (~€1,200 budget): BenQ TK710 vs Hisense C2 vs BenQ TK705i? The BenQ models are an order of magnitude brighter than the M2 Pro. In most cases, I'd try to go brighter unless budget and portability are major concerns. If buying right now, other than BenQ, the XGimi Horizon 20 remains a very strong choice and recommendation. It has extensive optical lens shift which neither BenQ model has which is great for easier projector placement.
r/projectors · Looking for finished ceiling mount projector install pics (ideally in living rooms) I certainly don't have any photos of this and my projector is in my basement. Not sure how tall your ceilings are or how high you want to mount your screen, but the projector itself needs to be upside down, with the center of the lens right at the top edge of the screen. The TK705i needs to be about 11' from a 120" diagonal screen... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705i-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705i-projection-calculator-pro.htm) If I wanted to minimize the impact into a family room, then I might consider mounting the projector tighter to the ceiling and using some digital image correction. This is less than ideal for perfect image quality, but is an acceptable trade off. If you have the projector, you can check how keystone correction will impact your image quality. From the manual, page 18, it shows that you can remove the 3 feet on the projector and use those locations as ceiling mounting points... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector\_manual\_12813.pdf](https://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector_manual_12813.pdf) This means you can really use any standard universal projector ceiling mount with this model and keep it VERY close/tight to the ceiling. Not sure what your current mount actually looks like. But, you can mount this higher if you'd like to.
r/projectors · New BenQ TK705i/TK705STi 4K Projector, Any thoughts? I think day to day, it will depend on who the owner actually is and what they want to do. Some people will appreciate USB-C, while others will just use it for streaming. Some will have a speaker bar hooked up using eARC, others will use Bluetooth audio. Others will just use the speakers inside of it. I think it is still lacking a few features, but not many in this category and the price seems reasonable. As a bright LED model, it will see how it does perform compared to models like the Trivision Ultra.
r/projectors · New BenQ TK705i/TK705STi 4K Projector, Any thoughts? No thoughts really. Not sure which DLP chip they are using, but BenQ has been using the .65" chip on everything recently it seems. The use of a LED light engine is interesting as well in a world where all their competition is using triple laser setups. This is going to impact things with their color space coverage. But, it is nice they have Google TV, and eARC capability, along with Bluetooth. The 705i also has a actual zoom lens on it. Just 1.0-1.3 zoom, but that's better than most. Super cool they have a USB-C (with PD) input on it as well as the two HDMI connections. Just not sure how it will stack up next to the competition, like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra.

r/projectors · Benq TK705i vs Xgimi Horizon 20 I’m currently using the TK705i, and the picture quality has really impressed me. Even in the morning with some ambient light, the image still looks great. I was initially concerned about fan noise, but it’s much quieter than expected. I also play Nintendo Mario with friends on it, and the gameplay is smooth and responsive. The USB-C charging feature is an added convenience that I really appreciate.
r/projectors · New BenQ TK705i/TK705STi 4K Projector, Any thoughts? I’m leaning toward the BenQ TK705i, the design looks clean and modern, fits right into a nice living space, and still delivers great brightness (3000lm) and low input lag. r/projectors · Talk me out of the BenQ W4100i You might also take a look at the BenQ TK705i. It won’t match the black levels of your 8700UB or the Epson UB models, but it’s a lot more budget-friendly than the W4100i and still gives you sharp 4K, strong brightness, and good HDR punch. If you’re okay giving up some black level for a newer, brighter, and sharper projector that stays well under your $3,500 CAD limit, the TK705i is worth considering.

To OPs question, I have not seen any of those 3 so I have nothing to add. Watch a lot of youtube reviews, but at the end of the day, they should all look very reasonable.

r/projectors · Benq TK705i Hi! 😊 Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with the TK705i! We're delighted to hear you're enjoying the picture quality, automatic image adjustment, and color performance. We also appreciate your honest feedback on the built-in speakers and contrast. Real-world experiences like yours are incredibly helpful for others considering the projector. Thanks again for choosing BenQ, and we hope you continue enjoying many great movie nights and game sessions with your TK705i! 💜
r/BenQ · BenQ TK700ST vs TK705i vs GP520 – looking for advice for my setup Glad to hear you’re interested in both models!happy to share a few thoughts 👍 GP520 is generally the quieter, more relaxed home cinema experience, while TK705i leans brighter and punchier overall. What’s your setup like in terms of projection distance, screen size, and room brightness? And what do you mainly use it for?(movies, gaming, sports, or mixed use?)
r/BenQ · BenQ TK700ST vs TK705i vs GP520 – looking for advice for my setup Based on your setup (evening/night use, controlled lighting, 100–120”), both are viable, but they’re tuned a bit differently. • TK705i This is the more flexible option. The higher brightness gives you more headroom, not just for daytime use but also for maintaining punchier highlights on larger screens. It’s a safer pick if your setup isn’t always perfectly dark. • GP520 More of a lifestyle / home cinema design. LED light source, quieter operation, and a more relaxed viewing experience, but it does give up some brightness, which you may notice at 100–120” depending on your room. For your scenario, I’d personally lean toward the TK705i. It just gives you more consistency across different conditions, whereas the GP520 makes more sense if you’re prioritizing a quieter, more dedicated dark-room setup. GP520 has also been a bit limited in availability lately, so that might factor into your decision as well. Happy to go deeper if you’re comparing things like fan noise, contrast, or color tuning 👍

r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review It’s the other way around.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review Anytime you use keystone, more input lag is introduced. For game mode this option is disabled. I would recommend the TK705STi if you need a closer throw to your screen area.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review I agree, in the past I’ve used larger venue style units and those are significantly louder. Such as my Panasonic PT-RZ370U, RZ470U, Christie DHD600G, and so on Think of this one like a soft whisper. You can tell it’s there but you can also tune it out especially if you’re focused on the movie or tv show.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review Hi there I’ve found the fan noise to not really bother me. It’s less noticeable in eco mode. I’ve tested this by putting the projector next to me at ear level and also next to me on a table. To put into perspective I can talk over it in my normal speaking voice and it’s not in the way. I’ve used other projectors as well and when you’re watching a movie fan noise is pretty much nonexistent when you’ve got your AVR or soundbar turned up.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review Depends on the projection surface and the amount of ambient light you’re working with.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i 4K 4LED Projector Review Hi there, and thanks for your comment! I wouldn’t be able to directly compare this to the TK710 as I do not have one available, but spec-wise, the larger chip would have an advantage in terms of handling more light and improving black levels and shadow details. Laser light sources often provide a sharper 'perceived' brightness and higher dynamic contrast. Both use XPR pixel-shifting to achieve 4K, but the larger chip in the TK710 is often cited for having a cleaner image with less 'dithering' or 'gray border' issues. I noticed DLP dithering on the TK705i, which was to be expected. The physical limitations of this model prevent it from producing truly black levels. While the gray border is not noticeable when using a projector screen, as the black screen border conceals it. Overall, the TK710 has a hardware edge, but it is better suited for a fixed installation space rather than the grab and go style setup offered by the TK705i. So if someone was looking for a “step up” I would advise on the TK710 as well.

r/projectors · First projector setup: BenQ TK705i vs TK700, and what 120-inch screen should I buy? Thanks for the advice! After doing quite a bit more research, I’ve actually narrowed it down even further. I’m now also considering the **JMGO N1S Ultra 4K Triple Laser**, which is around **$1,745** where I live. That’s about **$400 more** than the **BenQ TK705i**. Do you think the JMGO is worth the extra $400? Or would I be better off buying the TK705i and putting that money toward a proper speaker system? I also finalized the screen options: Elite Screens Sable Frame B2 – **$576** Silver Ticket STR 6 – **$543** AKIA CineWhite UHD-B – **$442** AWOL Matte White – **$426** XY Screens White PVC Fabric (direct shipment from China) – **$632** Since this is my first projector setup and I’m planning to keep it for many years, which screen would you personally choose? Is the Elite/Silver Ticket/XY screens premium justified, or would the AKIA/AWOL provide essentially the same experience in a dedicated dark room? I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks again!

r/projectors · Best projector for my use case (~€1,200 budget): BenQ TK710 vs Hisense C2 vs BenQ TK705i? Based on your use case, 80–90% of your time will be spent watching movies and TV shows, the TK705i is definitely worth considering. It offers high brightness for larger screens and rooms with some ambient light, while still delivering excellent detail and color performance for movies. It also provides plenty of flexibility if you decide to add more gaming later on. Since you're planning to use a white wall initially and upgrade to an ALR screen in the future, brightness can be a meaningful advantage during that transition. If you could share your planned screen size and whether your room can be fully darkened, we'd be happy to help determine which model would best suit your setup. you could share your planned screen size and whether your room can be fully darkened, we'd be happy to help determine which model would best suit your setup.
r/projectors · BenQ TK705i with a White or CineGrey 3D? With white walls and a white ceiling, the room itself will have a bigger impact on perceived contrast than many people expect. Since the TK705i has plenty of brightness, pairing it with a CineGrey 3D screen can help preserve contrast and improve black levels in a typical living room environment. For a dedicated dark theater room, a white screen would still be the traditional recommendation. For a mixed-use living room, the CineGrey 3D is usually the better fit.
r/projectors · 4K Laser/LED Dilemma - Optoma UHZ35 vs BenQ TK705i vs GP520, which is better for 100" screen? Hi! Based on your use case (a fixed 100" screen in the living room plus occasional outdoor sports viewing), it can be helpful to start by looking at brightness requirements: Outdoor use or environments with ambient light: We generally recommend choosing a higher-brightness model, as it will deliver a clearer image and better resistance to ambient light. For reference, the GP520 offers around 2600 lumens, while the TK705i delivers about 3000 lumens, which can make a noticeable difference in brighter conditions.😊 https://preview.redd.it/gh39smcdfb7g1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be62f1010b5958b52623d5f15f71e85f9eba611c

r/projectors · Best projector for my use case (~€1,200 budget): BenQ TK710 vs Hisense C2 vs BenQ TK705i? Two numbers cut through this. Size first: at 3-4 m viewing distance the usual \~30 degree field of view guideline lands you around a 100-120" image. Second, brightness while you're still on a white wall. A bare wall reflects less and handles ambient light worse than any screen, so for your first months lumens matter more than color tech. The TK710 is rated 3200 lumens. Hisense's compact triple lasers in that class run 1300-1600 (the C1 from the same family is spec'd 1600). Prettier triple laser color won't survive a lit room at 100+ inches, and that's really the whole decision until the ALR arrives. One placement check for the TK710 (throw ratio 1.15-1.5): a 100" image needs 2.5-3.3 m of throw, 120" needs 3.1-4.0 m. Make sure your mounting spot allows it. I'd do the used TK710 under 1000 and put the savings toward getting the ALR screen sooner. That combo beats either 1200 euro option for movie nights.

r/BenQ · Benq tk705i settings Hmm I don't like an unsharp 4k image - same here with trying settings. I prefer a vivid hdr look in gaming and authentic colour accurate film with noise look for hdr movies. And for sports, vivid but not to point the green grass looks neon. Still find it hard to reduce the blur in live sport like when the camera pans left to right in live football and the players go blury. Please share your settings you've tried if you can

r/projectors · Advice for setup upgrade over a BenQ w1070 in 2026 Wow, I was just in the exact same position. Had my w1070 for 12 years as our main living room setup with a 135" screen and loved it every day. About a year ago it got its first stuck pixel and I thought that was the end, but it stayed one until recently when it became The Big Dipper of pixels. The TLDR version is : It was damn hard to upgrade that mighty $650 projector. I am testing out the TK705i currently because my new place is a PITA to run cables. The joists all run parallel to the screen wall and there's no ceiling outlet. This thing is a cube that sits on a stand and looks completely clean in my LR. When everything is right, the picture looks incredible. It's just hard to know if it's right sometimes because I've seen no expert settings recommendations. Had to turn Sharpness to zero to get rid of the vivid pores and edges look. The built in GoogleTV kind of sucks, so I mainly use a firestick through the receiver. If the 2720i is amazing and the obvious upgrade choice, I may try it. Otherwise the more I learn, the happier I am with this convenience/quality compromise.

r/projectors · BenQ TK705i Projector My early impressions Hi, I have this projector since 22/12/2025. I used it on a white wall of an empty room. I can get a 130" screen and it is really nice. I watch Netflix / Youtube / Plex content on it and already tried playing with my Nintendo Switch. I really recommend using a soundbar or a helmet for a better experience. The fan noise is really low, which is nice. Indeed, the power adapter is big but not a problem since I do not move it from the room. I also find the "auto adjust" system not perfect. But it is worth it. note: it is my first projector.

r/projectors · Talk me out of the BenQ W4100i You might also take a look at the BenQ TK705i. It won’t match the black levels of your 8700UB or the Epson UB models, but it’s a lot more budget-friendly than the W4100i and still gives you sharp 4K, strong brightness, and good HDR punch. If you’re okay giving up some black level for a newer, brighter, and sharper projector that stays well under your $3,500 CAD limit, the TK705i is worth considering.

r/projectors · Benq TK705i vs Xgimi Horizon 20 The specs of the benq are way worse. Only 98% Rec 709 color space, no BT2020, no imax enhanced or Dolby vision, no lens shift, worse contrast, worse speakers... There is a video from the hookup on yt where he tests projectors under 1500$ and the XGIMI H20 is the clear winner. Concerning warranty I don't know what's included in the 3 year warranty from benq. I've heard bad stories about their support but that's most likely the case for every company. It's probably luck if your model is built well or not. Maybe buy both and return one or try to get a test screening somewhere.

La qualité d'image est-elle bonne pour les films ?

BenQ TK705i / W2720i, 100" @ 2.214\~2.878 M, accoording to your floor plan, maybe fit into your distance with side projection. BenQ W4100i is over your budget, but fit to your distance.
The best choice is BenQ TK705i, because of it had 5ms low input lag. Xigmi Horizon Ultra is an old platform projector. Believe to have latest one is the best way. Horizon 20 spec is better than BenQ TK705i. the only one advatanges of TK705i is BenQ no RGB laser speckle, so that you will feel more comfortable about benq's picture and color. But if you can accept RGB laser speckle, and have enougn budget, than choose Horizon 20. if no, pick up BenQ TK705i.

go with benq tk705i, this one's picture is pretty awesome
choose TK705i if you have **portability needs. It is easy to move and fast auto installation feature.**
according to your description, i think you need more than 3000 ansi lumens projector, such us BenQ TK705i, Xgimi Horizon 20, Valerion. They all have the features you need, the difference is only price.
100% agree — the picture brightness and colors are really comfortable, not overdone at all. Although the power adapter is quite big, other brands are the same. I suggest BenQ switch to a **GaN adapter**. If they do that, I’d definitely buy the new one.
Based on your throw distance, your choices are basically down to **TK705i or GP520**. That said, the throw ratio of both might be a bit short for your room. In this case, I’d go with BenQ **TK705i**, mainly because: 1. It’s brighter, and the color performance should be slightly better than the GP520. 2. TK705i has zoom, so you can adjust the image size without losing image quality. 3. Noise levels are pretty similar on both models. Just sharing my experience for your reference.
TK705i is really good but it cost more. And I think 2600lm is ok for my space, no need to buy the 400lm.
those models you choosed have different throw distance. if we ignore throw distance, GP520 will be my first choice eventhough I have TK705i
No matter which projector you choose, if you want to watch movies during the day, it’s still best to turn off the lights and block out ambient light. This prevents the contrast from being washed out and gives you a better sense of immersion. The **JMGO N1S Ultimate** is a good projector, but in my personal experience, it doesn’t perform as well as its specs suggest. The **BenQ TK705i**, on the other hand, performs about the same as its listed specifications and matches its price level. In my opinion, the performance of these two projectors is quite similar. The N1S Ultimate looks a bit brighter, but the RGB 3-Laser noise makes my eyes uncomfortable. The BenQ TK705i uses **4LED**—the visual brightness is slightly lower than RGB laser, but it has no noise spots, and the image looks clean and comfortable. Lastly, in a bright room, even a wide color gamut will be washed out by ambient light. So it may be better to choose something smaller, quieter, and with a cleaner picture. These are just my personal opinions—hope they help!
maybe you can take benq gp520 instad of XGIMI Horizon S Pro, or benq tk705i if you are willing to pay more money.
