So ghosting is definitely an issue. You would get better contrast and depth on a higher tier mini led anyway. OLED imo is best for gaming however. I’d go with a Sony Bravia 9(flagship), Samsung QN90f (midrange) or TCL C7K (budget) depending on what you can afford if you really want a mini led for gaming. I prefer OLEDs and think burn in is overblown. Rtings I believe have shown that OLEDs are more durable than they are given credit for. I would go for an LG C5 if you want a midrange OLED for gaming. A Samsung S95F for a flagship (what I have in my living room).

I would say Sony is better for movies due to its image processing with fewer artefacts in fast scenes and colour accuracy. It is good for sports. It’s good for sports as well. Samsung is better for gaming due to its refresh rate and lower input lag. It’s brighter and has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. It’s also good for sports. Samsung is suited to bright rooms due to its anti glare tech and brightness. The Sony will be better off in a light controlled room. It comes down to your budget however, as these were flagship TVs. If you want a mini led- Samsung QN90F is a decent midrange option. Sony Bravia 9 and the mark 2 Bravia 9 are way better, but come at a premium price. I would opt for last year’s Samsung S95F (S95H has a weird frame around it) or 77 inch Sony A95L if you can afford the OLED. I would maybe go for a Sony Bravia 9 or a Samsung QN90F if you want a mini LED. OLEDs have better contrast, colours, no blooming (a halo effect caused by light bleeding into the surrounding pixels) and viewing angles. Mini LEDs tend to be brighter however and are more durable for heavy usage (I believe OLEDs have been proven to last longer on regular usage as Rtings have shown backlight failure on a LED tv is more likely to happen sooner than OLED burn in). Mid range- 1. Samsung S90F (65 inches means you get the patented Samsung tech instead of a WOLED due to their panel lottery). 2. Sony Bravia 7 Mini LED 3. Samsung QN90F 4. Sony Bravia 8 Premium: 1. Samsung S95F 2. Sony A95L 3. Sony Bravia 9. I preferred the A95L over the Bravia 8 MK 2 as well. The Sony Bravia 9 Mk 2 just came out and isn’t worth the price tag imo. Go for Samsung if you want vibrant colours, brightness and favour gaming more than watching movies. Go for a Sony TV if you care about image processing, colour accuracy and movies more. Both handle sports well in my experience.

The problem is that your budget is generally for 55 inch flagship TVs to 65 inch midrange models. I wouldn’t get a refurbished OLED under any circumstances as it isn’t really worth it. On paper a Panasonic Z95B would’ve been perfect for you as it supports all the formats and is good for bright rooms. The problem is that it’s hard to find these days and the 77 inch models would’ve been out of your price range anyway. The Samsung QN90F is usually the best bet for gamers that want a bright room mini LED thanks to its anti glare screen, but you aren’t a Samsung fan due your Dolby Vision requirement and because you are not focused on gaming. I think unless you plan on saving some money and being patient, you would be better off going for a 65 inch Mini LED or a 65 inch LG G5 (Flagship LG Model) on a good discount maybe on Black Friday. 65 inch TCL C8K and the 65 inch Sony Bravia 7 (MK1 not 2) are the only two mini LEDs I can think of that you can afford that may suit you and not seem like a complete downgrade vs your LG C4.

Then again the purists seem to tightly control all the lighting in the room so asto make it nearly as dark as a cave. My family enjoys the sunshine and having the tv on, for us, the matte screen is just what we need! As for motion and rudder, we haven't noticed any problems. We watch basketball and baseball and the image is smooth. We have an 85" screen and the motion is smooth. Same with bluray movies: smooth. I considered the s95f, however sunlight hits our screen in the morning, so oled was off the table.

I bought a Samsung qn90f due to its ant-reflective panel. My tv is on the west wall in a room with floor to ceiling windows on the south wall, 16' ceiling. The room is flooded with light and the qn90f panel swallowed the reflections. I suggest you visit BestBuy or a local retailer and look at the sets in person to see how they handle reflections. The s95f and s95h and s90h have a matte screen similar to the qn90f. Some other new models (e.g. Sony Bravoa 7ii and 9ii) also have new anti-reflective screens. Give them a view. In a bright room, reflections on the screen can have a big impact on your viewing experience.

I have a bright room with floor to ceiling windows on the south wall with the tv on the west wall. Reflections were a huge concern for me. I bought a Samsung qn90f and am very happy with it. Daytime viewing is a pleasure: no reflections, bright colors that pop. Look at sets with anti-reflective screens and compare them with the other models. You may not enjoy watching reflections in the screen, especially with an oled the gives the perfect blacks to really show the reflected items.

Idk about your budget but I’d also consider the tcl qm8k or qm7k and purchase an extended warranty. They both have Dolby vision which the Samsung lacks. The qm8k is brighter of the two and will easily handle a bright room. They are also more affordable than the Samsung. The 85 qm9k is also on sale for 2000 and is the brightest of these TVs. You can compare the pros and cons on rtings.

The s90f is on par with my LG C5. Yes I have a lot of TVs split between two homes. Left out the Hisense U7 in the office, which is good enough for the office but wouldn’t use for main viewing, though I do like the Google OS.

In the end I got the c7k. It was between that and the qn90f. I just couldn't see the difference and c7k was always a few hundred cheaper. Maybe these 2025 models will be hard to find now and you seem to know the 2026 equivalent. I did think I'd want the matte screen of the qn90f as it was a converted conservatory and quite bright. But the c7k is fine as it has no direct window behind and the brightness covers it during the day really well. Only thing I'd say is that when watching 1080p YouTube vids. And we do watch music videos . The upscaling isn't as good as the CX. And also we watched the world cup via the itv and BBC app. BBC app was stunning as It was 4k. But again on the itv lesser (probably 1080), the motion handling isnt as good as the CX. But overall it's perfect for my use case. It depends on your use case. The better brands should still have better processing.

From what I've read the QN90F isn't perfect but it excels in very bright rooms. How does this Bravia 9ii do in bright rooms?

I would only get the qn90f if you’re worried about direct window light/glare. Matte finish dulls color and no samsung tv has dolby vision. If you want the absolute best quality, downsize and get a 77 c5 for 2k on sale. If you want to stay 85, look at bravia 5 85 for 2k. If brightness is still an issue, go 85 tcl qm9k for 2k/qm8k for slight cheaper. TCL will excel in brighter rooms and gives you vibrant color with great cinema quality.

r/tcltvs · A very interesting comparison of the TCL C8K(QM8K) & Sony BRAVIA 5 Makes more sense like this, yeah. It's just Samsung and LG forfeited the LCD budget and mid-range markets and shifted to OLEDs and beyond entirely. If they hadn't done that, TCL and Hisense wouldn't have take the main spotlight in the LCD market nearly as easily. But they just don't care about LCDs anymore. The QN90F is the last remnant of a decent MiniLED from Samsung and I'd say it's too overpriced compared to the S90F for pretty much the same money, but I don't thick there's any TCL or Hisense that can beat it on its local dimming algorithm. Everything below the QN90F is utter dogshit, true. Mainly relying on the QLED and Samsung brand image to literally bait customers into overpriced supermarket-level garbage.

r/4kTV · Did I make the right choice getting the 55" TCL QM7K? After looking through all of the TV sales going on right now (Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.), it seemed like the best option for my needs. To me it was worth the difference because I immediately noticed how bad the TCL processing & motion handling was and it was extremely distracting. Tons of pixelating, artifacts, weird motion stutters, etc that wasn’t there with my old Samsung or the QN90F. It was particularly bad in darker scenes. I tried adjusting numerous settings but ultimately after a lot of research I learned that TCL tvs are just not good with motion/processing. I mostly watch content from streaming and the only thing I found that made it slightly better (but still bad enough I didn’t like the tv) was using an Apple TV to help clean some of that up. It really depends on your use case I guess because outside of the processing & motion handling the tv was okay. The Samsung build quality was quite a bit better but that wouldn’t be worth the price difference by itself to me.

TCL tvs have a good picture but the processing and motion handling is awful. My 10 year old Samsung did a significantly better job at both and I returned the TCL.

YOU will get downvoted but yu are 100% right omg i had problems with 2 QN90F their processing and artefacts are soo bad, now i own a sony much more expensive but has 0 problems and looks with better and more natural colors, TCL and hisense over samsung any day tho.
