r/HouseFresh · Any opinions on the new Philips Series 900 vs alternatives? We have only tested the Philips 3000i and the 800 Series, and in both cases, we found the devices to offer good value and performance with average metrics in terms of noise generation and energy consumption. That said, I wouldn't say go with the Philips as we haven't tested the 900 Series yet, but it does look nice—especially in black. Going with the Core 300S means going with a device that has been around for many years and for which you will find a ton of generic replacement filters (if you want to lower those filter change costs further). In terms of energy efficiency, the Core 300S pulled 21.8 watts at top speed VS 20 watts pulled from the Philips 800, so the difference might not be as big as you might think. Three more alternatives in this size could be the [Levoit Vital 100S](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WFe-mWEKM4) (which also has app connectivity and pelleted activated carbon), the [Winix Zero Compact](https://housefresh.com/winix-a231-review/) (which doesn't have an app but does have auto-mode and carbon), and the [Shark HP102](https://housefresh.com/shark-hp102-review/) (no smart features but does feature an auto mode, carbon and a very high-quality screen).
r/HouseFresh · Any opinions on the new Philips Series 900 vs alternatives? You got the 300S for a great price so you won't regret the choice. We're actually performing some new tests on our 300S at the moment, and it's crazy to see how much this device holds its ground compared to the vast majority of the 90+ air purifiers we have tested to date, considering it's 'old.' I should have asked about the size of your room to make sure you were looking at the right range, but considering the amount of research you have done, you probably factored in CADR when narrowing down the units. Hope you will see a positive difference with your new air purifier!

r/moderatelygranolamoms · Best air purifier for reducing dust and allergens in a kid’s room? Chiming in to agree! We have levoit core 300s and I'm super pleased with them. I actually watched a YouTube video recently that was testing air purifiers and it performed well so I'm glad it's verified to not all be in my head lol

r/AirPurifiers · [canada] suggestions on air purifier For a 250 sq ft apartment with two cats, I would put most of the budget into one decent unit for the bedroom/living room first, then treat the bathroom as a small odor-control spot rather than trying to run two weak purifiers everywhere. Look for true HEPA, a real replaceable carbon filter, and a CADR that is comfortably above the room size. Pet hair is mostly handled by the prefilter, but dander and dust need HEPA, and litter-box smell needs carbon. A washable prefilter is useful, but I would not make fully washable filters a must-have; most washable "HEPA-style" filters perform worse, and the cost usually shows up as weaker filtration. For Canadian shopping around your budget, I would compare the Levoit Core 300/Core 300S, Winix A230/A231 if you find it on sale, and the Coway AP-1512HH if you can stretch or catch a discount. For the bathroom counter, I would avoid tiny novelty units and use a small purifier only if it has available replacement filters and actual carbon. Otherwise, a covered litter box routine plus ventilation may do more than a very small purifier.

r/AirPurifiers · Thinking about buying Levoit Vital 100S, some question The problem with most smaller air purifiers is efficiency. You can only put so big of a fan in such a compact unit, so in order to get good filtering, you need to run these things at full speed. This usually means they are can get relatively loud, the quiet ones are usually just not moving as much air. I've got a Levoit 300S and in order for it to be working well, it's on full speed and is far from silent. Even with the fan oiled to keep it spinning as smoothly and quietly as possible, they aren't quiet. I like the white noise from fans, so I don't mind, but it can annoy other people. I find they do help with dust accumulation and odours, but the cost vs. filtering efficiency means they aren't the best use of your money. However, to get real good filtering, you either have to DIY a solution with an overkill big box fan and HEPA filters or spend a lot of money for a nice purifier, so there isn't always a best solution for everyone.

r/AirPurifiers · Best air purifier for a pretty small room? If the allergy test is too expensive you can try something else - take an over the counter anti-allergy med - loratadine or cetirizine. Take one for two days and see if you nose gets unstuffed. If it gets better then you know you have allergies but don't know what your allergies are to. A good air purifier will still help with the allergies. Most allergens are trapped by HEPA filters. Know, however that the Levoit Core 300s is not HEPA (even though some sites say that it is). The VItal 100 is HEPA from what I understand. Another indication of an allergy is that usually it gets worse in the area that has an allergen. I would start coughing when I got into my apartment (I had mold allergies but the mold wasn't visible). Does your nose get better when you are outside? What if you are in nature? It is also possible that you are sensitive to chemicals rather than have allergies - I usually get a blocked nose near particle board (it has formaldehyde).
r/AirPurifiers · Looking for air purifier advice: Coway vs Winix The Cose 300s is NOT HEPA (despite what Amazon says). One thing to note for these is that the carbon filter is integrated with the HEPA filter so when it gets saturated it releases the things it has "captured" back in the air and you need to get rid of the whole filter. Other purifiers allow you to change the carbon filter separately - WINIX, for example.

r/HouseFresh · Any opinions on the new Philips Series 900 vs alternatives? Thanks so much for this great reply. I ended up ordering the Core 300s which I got for £107. I was conflicted between that, the Vital 100s for £126, or the new Philips 900 for £127 (black friday prices) What swung it for me in the end was: \- The easy availability of replacement filters + potentially cheaper generic ones because it's been such a popular model \- The quality of the app which by many accounts is reliable and trouble-free to setup. Plus it seems to works well with multiple units if I were to get other ones in future. \- The cylindrical form factor which I think just looks better in a home than the Vital 100s, although I accept the Vital may perform slightly better & has the removable pre-filter for easier cleaning. \- Daftly, the white colour (Philips does look good but wouldn't work as well in my place). So it was a combo of cost, aesthetics and reliability. I do have in mind that Levoit will probably release a new Core soon that supersedes the 300s, and perhaps then I'll regret my choice, but I was eager to get an air purifier and this felt like a decent option for the money.

r/AirPurifiers · Best Value Air Purifier on Amazon Prime Sale right now? Apple and oranges. You own a house with multiple rooms so space is significantly more plentiful while OP has to stuff everything in a 12x12 room. I myself own an Austin Air Healthmate Plus, Dyson TP06, both a Levoit 400s and 300s and a custom AC Infinity Filter Box setup - they all fit their special purpose at my place and could never be replaced by a single averaged sized box filter to do their respective jobs.

r/moderatelygranolamoms · Best air purifier for reducing dust and allergens in a kid’s room? For dust and allergens in a kid’s room, you need true HEPA H13 plus an activated carbon filter. Coway Airmega AP-1512HH is the best under $200. Covers 361 sq ft, filter lasts 12 months and costs $60. I run it 24/7 in my kid's room - dust on furniture dropped 80% in 2 weeks. CADR is 246 for dust which is solid. Avoid ionizers or UV-C lights if you want non-toxic, they produce ozone which is bad for kids. Levoit Core 300S is cheaper at $99 but only covers 219 sq ft. Main thing is check room size and get CADR that’s 2/3 of your sq footage. Also vacuum with a HEPA filter 2x weekly or the purifier gets clogged fast.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK The winix outperforms the Levoit in every way. There is absolutely no contest here. So does the Coway. I prefer winix because it has more carbon but both are excellent units. The Levoit is a budget unit with no HEPA.

r/AirPurifiers · Thinking about buying Levoit Vital 100S, some question The noise is not a big problem for me too, so even if the purifier will be quite loud at max speed but will do a great job with the smell and pollen I will accept the deal. I saw a bunch of video reviews and seems that the Vital 100S is better than the 300S, and the "best" seems to be the 200S, but in a small room the 100S should be enough (I guess). The air purifier mode of my air conditionair is not that bad but is extremely slow and doesn't have any charcoal filter inside, so to get rid of dust or odor it takes quite a lot of time and I don't think it is doing a really nice job. So what I was thinking is having a small one with some proper filtering system will be better than nothing.

r/AirPurifiers · Should I not get a Levoit? The displayed PM2.5 value on our 3 Core 600S is completely off by around +20ųg/m3 so need to ignore that and use a third party air quality meter. We have a Core 300s as well for the office which displays correct values, not sure what that's about. Other than that, they are fantastic at cleaning the air! We went for the bigger 600S for our 35m2 bedroom because it allows to have it on lower fan speeds at night for similar CADR as the smaller models at max speed which is too loud for sleeping. We live in a dusty climate and keep the device at speed 1-2 at night and the rooms PM2.5 and PM1.0 are consistently at 2-3ųg/m3 now. Best bang for your buck for sure. Coway Airmega 400 has the same CADR and costs 2x as much for example.

r/AirPurifiers · Should I not get a Levoit? Levoit Vital 200s gets great reviews. I read a ton of this stuff and I don't see people reporting those units malfunctioning. Over the years, yes, I've seen reports of issues with a whining noise on some units (the 300 and 400) but that was years ago and Levoit addressed it and also offered replacements. They also have good service. I have a Core 300 that is still going from 2020. A Core 300s. And most recently a Vital 100s and Vital 200s. If sized right, these latter two are what you should look at - not the Core units. Those were good in their day, but the Vital units are superior. As for the Hepa question, yes the Vital units are, on sleep mode, and the "scandal" about all of that was drummed up by a competitor - who makes inferior units.
r/AirPurifiers · Looking for air purifier advice: Coway vs Winix Not Core 300s. Look at Levoit Vital 200s. I have a couple of Core 300s and just got the Levoit Vital 200s. Nothing wrong w/ the Core in its time but the Vital units are a newer, improved design and the Vital 200s has better CADR too. It's a much better unit.

r/AirPurifiers · Help me choose between Philips serie 900 (AC0951/13) vs Levoit Core 300S I got the Philips one because of the reasons mentioned in the chat above and I'm quite satisfied with the filtering. We cook everyday and it quickly kicks into action. The app is convenient, it allows me to schedule different modes at different times. It also tells me when the time will come to clean the filter, and when to change it. I've never seen Levoit 300S, so I cannot say how it compares to it. But most of the reviews that I've gone through tells me that Levoit is comparable to the Philips 800 series. Also please do note that the Philips 900 series has two models, the mini 920/921 one is not that effective.

r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK For pets + dust + road pollution, I’d go with Winix or Coway over the Levoit. They’re generally stronger and handle dander and odors better, especially in a 250 sqft room. Levoit is fine for light use, but might struggle a bit with cats + traffic pollution long term. EnviroTesters has some useful info on air quality if you want to dig deeper.
