r/BuyItForLife · What's the Best Air Purifier you've used and would recommend?

levoit core 300 has been solid for me, cheap filters compared to the dyson/molekule stuff and easy to find replacements on amazon. not the fanciest but it just runs. one thing that matters more than brand honestly is sizing it right for your room, undersized units run loud on high trying to keep up and thats usually the real reason behind the expensive-filters-every-few-months complaints, people are just running an undersized unit too hard for the space

r/AirPurifiers · Best Purifier for Office?

Not a normal HEPA unit, and not for under 100 dollars.   For odors those are VOCs, which you need a lot of carbon material to absorb from the air.  White Hepa material captures particulates in the air like allergens, dust, dander etc. For odors it is usually better to properly use ventilation and try to ventilate the odor molecules out so that they do not linger and bind to things.  So a simple box fan and an open window will probably be much more effective than a 100 dollar Hepa based purifier.  Put the fan near the window, and point inwards. This will push the clean outside air in.  There should be a ventilation system in your office that will help expel bad air out.  (In a house, this would be your bathroom exhaust fan.) So I suggest focusing on ventilation first.  A Levoit Core 300 is the best 90 dollar unit pretty much, and it has some carbon pellets in the filter, but not much compared to VOC focused units.  Those cost 500+ dollars.  Such as IQ Air which has 15 pounds of carbon material to absorb odors.  (It is on Air Force one, in government buildings etc.) But is 1,000 dollars.  That would be the best choice for an odor focused unit.  Next is Austin Air at 750 also great.  And then AllerAir also good I think 500-700 range.  A 100 dollar based unit can help minimally on odors, but will not make much of a dent for a serious odor issue.  So I suggest first look to simple 30 dollar box fans + ventilation.  For 120 bucks you could also look into a carbon filter like AC Infinity, such as weed growers use...but maybe not so aesthetically pleasing for an office.   You can also buy carbon pellets for like 12 bucks, and place them around discreetly perhaps (like on a coffee mug ?  Or mesh bags, can place behind a fan for a DIY carbon filter.  However you need a lot of it to do much, and a small amount will run out quickly.  So see how far ventilation will solve the problem, as you likely aren't using much ventilation I doubt.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix C545 Bearings (2021 Build Year)

Most under 200 dollar range purifiers just are not built to last long on general.  I suggest checking the warranty before buying...and most...come with a 1 year warranty. Ive had units break within 6 months and a few more break a little over 1 year.  Almost as if...they are made to just last a year or two and that's it.   So if you are concerned about longevity I would recommend something like an Alen.  My Alen 45i is great and it comes with a lifetime warranty.  Assuming you remain in the filter replacement plan.  (60-90 bucks depending on your filter, every 9 or 12 months, your choice.). Alens are quiet, energy efficient....and built to run continuously...pretty much forever.  Another good brand for longevity are Levoits, and affordable as well. As Ive had two Levoit Core 300s running pretty much continuously....for 6+7 years now.  They also perform well and beat a bunch of brands in testing.  (So on the top 3 with Winix and Coway.).  Winix and Coway are good brands,  but I've never owned them, so I can't speak to their longevity. I can tell you Alens will last pretty much forever, and Levoits are excellent as well.  Not a single issue with either of my Levoit 300s...for years now.   I will also say you need to make sure the units are flat. (Maybe your property has a slight tolt to it or something ?). And also it helps to turn them off from ti e to time to give the motor a break.  (At least for cheap units not meant to last.).  I only turn off my Alen maybe 3 or 4 times a year for cleaning or filter replace.  The Levoits about the same.    I'd suggest getting an Alen if longevity is a concern, and/or Levoits.  Pricier units may also last a long time, such as AustinAir (750 bucks) or IQAir which is like 1,000, but i don't have experience with those as too expensive for me to afford.  I have however had lots of cheap brands and units....and know most under 200 bucks, save for certain good brands...will probably not last long.  So - you get what you pay for, in a way.  (Except for Levoits with the circular 300s at least are incredible for their price point.)

    r/AirPurifiers · levoit vital 100s pet mode

Just run it on high 24/7, that will likely be better than pet mode.  As pet mode is apparently just alternating between low and high, to save energy.  Levoits are already very energy efficient units, so it doesn't take much cost or energy to run one.  So just let it run on high most of the the time.  You can let it run for weeks and even months at a time.  I have two Levoit Core 300s running near continuously...for 5+6 years now... I turn one off occasionally at night when I sleep, to give the motor a break.  Maybe once a month, whenever I remember.  They are built to run continuously, so just leave it on high for best results.  (High is what all CADR ratings are based on, so running it on low gets you like 1/3 of its listed cleaning abilities and running it on pet mode will be on low probably around half the time...therefore you are actually losing effectiveness there.)   I don't think pet mode does anything really, just a marketing thing there.  (Maybe it creates a slight bit of air flow alternating, idk, but nothing a fan can't do.).  Levoits are great, just run it on high.   Occasionally turn off to gently vacuum the pre-filter (use weak hand-vac and be gentle as you don't want to disrupt the Hepa fibers which can lower efficiency.). Otherwise maybe turn off occasionally for a break.

    r/AirPurifiers · EverestAir vs Airmega 400s

I think the airmega 400s covers 1,500 feet ?  While the EverestAir is 2,600.  So it kinda depends on how big of a space are you getting it for ?  The EverestAit will give more air changes per hour with 1,000 ft more of coverage.  I think Winix let's you pay extra for a 3 year warranty, and Levoit is 2 year.  So Winix is good quality and you pay more for that but only 1 year warranty difference.  Levoit is also good quality, but better value for the money.  (I have two Levoit Core 300s that have been running near continuoaly for 5+6 years...so also very durable/reliable.)  So I would say it comes down to room size, and how long you want/need the unit to last.  (For lifetime warranty look at Alen, although they don't move as much air as these units.)   Otherwise both are great brands.  Winix might also have have an ionizer you can toggle on/off ?   So that's a reason to get that one, but again, less coverage size, and pricey for the coverage area.  (If this is a 3,000 coverage range Airmega400 for 350 then get that, but I believe those are 650 dollars.)

r/AirPurifiers · BlueAir VS Shark VS WInix VS Levoit

Get the Levoit Core 600, its on sale on amazon for 250 right now. It has 390 CFM power, the Core 300 only has 145. Meaning its more than twice as powerful. That would give you excellent air quality, with almost 8 air changes per hour (what I have, and I had to get excellent coverage as I had bad allergies as well, and an old smelly carpet etc.) 6 Air changes (ACH) is excellent, 4 or 4.8 is good. The Core 300 is a great unit although that is rated for 1,073 feet. Meaning it would give you about 2.5 air changes per hour in 400 sq. feet. Which is just a minimum of coverage, and not even "good". so for those with allergies and/or bad air conditions...you will likely want excellent. Which is more like 2,000 or 3,000 feet of coverage, so bigger units than what you are looking at. But you dont need an expensive woozoo fan imo. Just get a better purifier. You can get a 30 dollar box fan which will move more air than the woozoo. You can also even tape merv 13+ filters around a box fan...and create a DIY purifier that does 400range CFM power. Lastly, you can even put 1 merv 13 filter in front of/behind a powerful (but cheap) box fan...and get around 150 CFM, or about the same CFM power as the purifiers you are looking at. So get a Levoit Core 600 + a box fan if you want. (if you want ionizer you can also get a 600 plasma pro for 50 bucks more I think, but you dont need ionizer.) Main thing is Hepa with most CFM power, that is what will capture particulates. Ionizer is a nice to have, I use one on one of my 8 units, but not at all neccessity. (You could also add the core 300 with ionizer or other inoizing unit later. right now...id suggest the Core 600. (They also have some carbon pellets in filters, to help with smoke/odors, and the bigger unit will have more of that.) Although the best units for VOCS/odors are very expensive like 750 for Austin Air or 1,000 for IQ Air. Alen also decent but not nearly as good as Austin Air/IQ Air, but would be a litlte better for VOC's. But again...meain thing is CFM power for capturing particulates. For ktichen smells thats where the fan comes in + use hood range, + bathroom exhaust fan, open windows etc. to ventilate. A Levoit will help a little on that but ventilation key there. And the Levoit 600 will be excellent for your allergies and getting rid of particulates. The Core 300 and the other units you are looking at aren't large enough to get you excellent air quality. (just minimum coverage, which is often not enough for those of us with allergies.) Winix also has good units at the slightly higher price point that would provide the adeqaute size. I would avoid blue air as you cannot toggle the ionizer of on those. (in case you have issue with it, as some people get respiratory disrress, sortof how hiking at elevation makes some people want to cough...despite the air also being more clean. Everyone will have a different threshold on that, so best if you can toggle on/off esp for first time buyer imo.) Sharks are not as good as those other brands, and just OK. (The Levoit Core 300 beat the Shark in recent testing, depsite the Shark costing more, they have a sortof "never replace the filter" schtick (or whatever it is), but they dont clean the air as well as the better units like Winix, Levoit, and Coway.

r/AirPurifiers · Seeking advice on placement of Levoit Vital 200S-P placement in open-concept apartment living area

Maybe there is less air flow in that area ?   So try switch the levoit with a mila that you feel catches a lot, and see if difference.   Also take Molas are way more  expensive + powerful units, so it would be expected that a 400 dollar 447 CFM pulls in more than a 250 180 dollar unit, yes ?   Even the mila mini is stronger + 100 dollars more expensive at 290 CFM/280 dollars.  Blue Airs use ionization so that might help a smaller blue air trap visible hairs.   But Levoits are great units, and perform excellently in recent testing.  In terms of hairs idk, maybe there is something to that. But purifiers aren't really mens to be capturing hairs anyway so a much...as it's all the small things you can't even see.  And Levoits  perform very well there.  But like I said, perhaps you have less airflow in that corner of your living room or something ?  You'd prob want a stronger mila in that larger space anyway imo.    Lastly, I think the circular Levoits are stronger pound for pound,  thus the Core 300 outperforming the Levoit Vital 100 in recent testing despite costing 30 bucks less.  And outperforming lots of units similarly sized.  The Vital line does have the larger filter which is  astrong point, but I don't think rectangle leads to better performance per se.  (Again the Levoit 300 outperformed some pricier units on smoke too, maybe something to do with the circular design ? Idk)   For Levoits there is a Core 400 + Core 600 that are stronger than the Vital 200.  Those are great units too though, with maybe the slightly bigger filters.   Anyway, I suggest moving some units around and see how it goes....great job on your overall coverage too.

r/AirPurifiers · Does turning off the plasma setting reduce CADR? Winix C545

That Winix is probably a good unit, and it does about 232 CFM.  A Levoit core 300 does 145.  So 2x Levoits will get you cleaner air, with 290 CFM.  But also 180 bucks vs 130 I think for the Winix. I would suggest something else: get both.  As for excellent air quality you need 6 ACH air changes per hour.  4 or 4.8 is "good".  The Stansted CADR recs are based on 1 air change per hour. So that will give you a minimum of coverage - but not excellent coverage. I'm not an expert in square footage, but usually you want around 400 range CFM for excellent air quality in a normal-ish sized living room.  So just 1 Winix at 232 would prob give you good coverage but not excellent.  2 Levoits will be better - but still not excellent.  Soni suggest you get the Winix + 1 Levoit...as that gets you to avoid 380 CFM for 220 cost...which gets you likely to very good to borderline excellent (depending on exact size as this is just estimate.). Levoits are great units, esp the Core 300s...as I still have two running near continuously in my living room....for 5+6 years now .. In terms of the ionizer others explained well, with a unit w Hepa and an ionizer that can be toggled off, it helps a little, but doesn't make a huge difference.  But considering you still lose a little off the 232 (maybe 210 or 220 ?) you will still want more than just that Winix unit imo.  For overall excellent air quality. It's also best to have 1 in each room, especially bedroom where you sleep.  So a Levoit Core 300 is a great way to add additional coverage.  (Corsi Rosenthal Boxes/CR Boxes the most effective for the cost, as they provide 400 range CFM for about 90ish bucks.)  So the Winix w no ionizer is fine, but id pair it with at least another unit of some type, and maybe more, depending on each rooms size and total space etc.  But start with 1, and if you have no allergies or issues you might be fine with adequate coverage too.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK

The Core 300 I would not say is outdated.  That Winix though you are correct as that has been replaced with a new model.  The Levoit has not been replaced as it is still the Core 300 unit...and works great.  (The Vital line is newer, but not a replacement of the Core line.  The Core 300 actually outperforms the similarly priced Vital 100 in recent testing.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK

Levoit Core 300 are excellent units....as I have two of them running near continuously...for 5+6 years now.  Although you are comparing a smaller 90 dollar Levoit to a bigger more expensive Winix.  The Winix is twice the price or so, so more powerful (250CFM range) and I think 13 or 14 pounds.  The Levoit is about half the size, and half the cost, but still gives 155CFM. (So for the same cost 2x of those Levoits would give 310CFM power.) Point is a better comparison is an equal sized Levoit to an equal sized Winix.  As an equal size/price Levoit would be the Levoit Vital 200s.  Which does the same 250CFM as the Winnix. Both are great for that price point.  Both have air quality monitor I think, and Levoits have great choice of filter types.  The main difference really would be aesthetics, and that the Winnix has an ionizer that I think you can toggle on/off.  As well with Winnix you can spend 20-30 more for 2-3 year warranty.  However Levoits are great quality and last years...although it officially has 1 year warranty.  (Maybe the Winnix breaks after 3 years ?  Idk,  but my two Levoit Core 300s have been running near continuously...for 5+6 years now... So id the two units you show, the bigger more expensive units better (mostly - even though as shown you can get more CFM for same cost with two of the smaller Levoits.). So if you only have access to those units, get the Winix as it's more powerful. However a Levoit Vital 200 will perform about the same a a Winix as that's same size, so that's another good option.  ( I think it has smart features too, not sure if the Winix does.). They are both great.  Just choose which features you like more.  (If between a Winix and Vital 200)

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK

The Core 300 is a great unit, and Levoits are fairly energy efficient.  I've had two running near continuously....for 5+6 years now.  They also outperform even pricier units than them so excellent performance for what you get.   I don't have Winnix but it's a very good brand too.  So that unit is about 20 bucks more, but a little more powerful as well.  Prob uses slightly more energy too, but I doubt it's vastly different.  It would probably just come down to aesthetics really, as one is circular and one is more rectangular.  Both great brands.  I think with Winnix you can pay 20-30 more for 2-3 year warranty.  Levoits I think 1 year warranty officially but they are excellent and last years and years anyway.  (Mines still going perfectly at 5+6 years...)  If you want the most power get the Winnix.  As you pay slightly more but prob worth it.  If you really like the circular style, or for space or other reasons then get the Levoit.  (7 or 8 pounds, vs the other is 14ish pounds I think so bigger/heaver.) Generally you want to get the most CFM so id get the Winnix, unless space an issue.  But Levoits great too.

r/AirPurifiers · Need suggestions for a air purifier

If it was me, I think id put something like a RIA Breezeguard, which is my favorite unit. Or perhaps one of the bigger Levoit units. Corsi Rosenthal boxes as I mentioned are also an excellent way to get max CFM power...for little cost..especially if you would be involving smoke as then...there isn't any expensive circuitry to worry about. You can just easily replace a 30 dollar box fan. I also really like my Alen 45i, however its good for odor/smoke + moves the air more slowly than other purifiers. As the slower speed...helps give more time for the carbon to absorb odors. (The Austin Airs are even closer, but better at that with even bigger/better carbon filters.) So as you still need a lot of CFM for your main unit..something like a big Levoit would be a fine choice, as they are powerful, and have some carbon in thier filters too. Winnix is another good brand, and they have ionization I believe. Thats a reason I like the RIA as it has ionization, lots of carbon in filter, smart controls and even a remote control...(important for me as I have mobility issues.) So for Winnix I think they might have the ionization be toggleable on/off...as thats a must if you havent used it before, just to be careful if it bothers your respiratory tract for some reason. But in general ionization is good, as it helps clean the air, and only creates a small amount of ozone. So a small amount shouldn't be a problem for most people, and is a healthy/safe amount. But Hepa CFM power is the #1 thing that will actually trap the particulates. (Ionization helps particles bind together, so they then fall to the floor. This means that the air you breathe is cleaner. Such as sortof how the air is fresh and clean after a rain storm.) But if you aren't sure about ionization Levoits are great and I have 2 Levoit Core 300's running near continuously...for 5+6 years now. (The Core 300 is a medium sized unit and only 90 dollars, so out performs 200 dollar units, and excellent value, also great for a bedroom for instance to add more coverage.) As for good coverage you want more than the minimum, esp with allergies. Most CADR ratings I think are based on 1 air change per hour. But its best to have 4x air changes per hour (every 15 mins.) This way...you are never breathing "stale" dirty air. So corsi rosenthals in various rooms can help, and affordable Levoit units...an adding coverage. But a Levoit Core 600...should be like the 300s...just bigger + better, and with more features. 299 with 391 CFM, while thier best is the Everest Air which has 354 CFM but is 499...as it also has a lot of smart features, voice control, and air quality monitor with 3 level of PM stuff. So given 500 budget I would consider the Everest Air. But if you are getting a ventilator too, then maybe the Core 600 which is slightly more CFM power...but without the air quality monitor, and lack of voice commands. (and 200 cheaper) Ria Breezeguard is I think between those in price at 390 range. And if you find a Winnix at a sweet spot thats a good idea too. So depends what features are important to you...and what you might be pairing it with. and again...every CR Box is like 400 CFM so more powerful on high than any 200,300, even 500 dollar air purifer in many cases. So some combination...will probably get you the desired solution.

r/AirPurifiers · Did levoit fix their vital filters? Any recomendations for a serious air filter-purifier?

Levoits are great.  They are hepa 13 filters, and HEPA 13 on low/sleep mode, like most of the best units. It performs in the top 3 in recent testing with Winix + Coway.  (Beating Coway in some metrics and the guy picked the Levoit as the best of its size.). Point is all 3 of the best performing purifiers on the test are not "true Hepa" due to the same technicality.  Winix has also been sued, and Coway has the same problem and is trying to change its marketing before it gets sued as well.  So many units that move a lot of air...might dip down to Hepa 12, by a fraction on settings 2 or 3.   But it's not a big deal for the consumer as Hepa 12 is still really good, at 99.5%.  The difference between 99.7 and 99.5 is a few dozen particles out of 10,000.  Its more a marketing thing, that effects the whole industry,  not just Levoit. You will still have really clean air with a Levoit.  As it's one of the best in the market for cleaning the air.  One of the only units that doesn't have that problem is Dyson, as their units are like 1,000 dollars but go so slow that they don't even move much air.  So their units don't even go fast enough to have that problem.  But you ultimately get cleaner air with the unit at 99.5 or 99.6 with more power...than a slower unit at 99.7.   With that said, as someone else suggesting, masking with an N95 mask for all parties will make much more of a difference.  As I dont think you need to spend a lot on a medical grade/HEPA 13 filter or HEPA 14, if people are not wearing masks as they would be breathing in virus particles anyway.  So what I do is I always wear an N95 mask, and have a bunch of air purifiers as well.  (I even have a helmet thing called an Air Climate 3, such as holidays if someone shows up sick which happened to me last Christmas...so I was prepared.) But you don't need a whole helmet thing.  Just a properly sealed N95 + Levoit or any well performing air purifiers will be a good amount of protection.  ( As well as opening windows for ventilation, ventilation also very important.  Running bathroom exhaust fan can help with that, as that expels "old" air  and fans and box fans near a window cha help bring in new air, as well as move the air along on various places.). Air purifiers have smallish fans inside so that will help with that, but a simple box fan and N95 masking + ventilation...will do most of the work probably. And multiple purifiers to get any residual.   (It's best to have 1 unit in each room, when you have enough coverage for the whole space...then you would need her to carry around a unit.  The whole space will be covered.  I have 8x units in a large bedroom apartment for instance for 8ach, extreme coverage.  A small unit near them is a good idea too, but portable units aren't very powerful.  So better to have bigger statuonary units in each room.  Giving you full coverage all the time.  So Winix, Levoit, Coway all good.   All of them are not h13 on high.  But that's not a big deal.  As they will still capture virus particles and still get 99%+ of particles overall likely.  Wearing an N95 mask + ventilation will take care of anything missed.   For big units a Levoit Core 300 is a good value for main room, and then put something like the Vital 200 in her bedroom.  (And a small unit in each bedroom/room best.).  You want 4.8 air changes per hour for good air quality and 6+ for excellent.  So you will want excellent for virus control.  So if a unit says it covers 3,000 feet, like the Core 600, that means it will give you 6 air changes (excellent 6ach) in a space of 500 sq feet. (The size of many living rooms.). The Levoit Vital 200s, is 1,800 so likewise will give 6x in a space of 300 sq feet, which is great for a bedroom size.  Or any same sized Winix or Coway.  All are good.   Most important is N95 masks, properly sealed.  (Like a 3M Aura, that fits really well around the nose.). That is like a filter...for your face.  And then purifiers in each room, but you will need more than 1 for proper coverage.  And probably 2-3.  (As well as ventilation + masking when a person comes imo.)  So if you get enough purifier coverage you might not need to wear masks at home all the time, only when person comes and open windows.  What size is your space ?  What is your budget ?

Idk, are they plugged into the same outlet ?  Is it same if they are plugged into other outlets ?    Otherwise maybe you just got a wierd unit ?   I will say with electronic issues the more complicated smart units might be another point of issue, vs the more simple Core 300.  (Very happy with my normal Core 300s.)

r/AirPurifiers · [canada] suggestions on air purifier

For a 250 sq ft apartment with two cats, I would put most of the budget into one decent unit for the bedroom/living room first, then treat the bathroom as a small odor-control spot rather than trying to run two weak purifiers everywhere. Look for true HEPA, a real replaceable carbon filter, and a CADR that is comfortably above the room size. Pet hair is mostly handled by the prefilter, but dander and dust need HEPA, and litter-box smell needs carbon. A washable prefilter is useful, but I would not make fully washable filters a must-have; most washable "HEPA-style" filters perform worse, and the cost usually shows up as weaker filtration. For Canadian shopping around your budget, I would compare the Levoit Core 300/Core 300S, Winix A230/A231 if you find it on sale, and the Coway AP-1512HH if you can stretch or catch a discount. For the bathroom counter, I would avoid tiny novelty units and use a small purifier only if it has available replacement filters and actual carbon. Otherwise, a covered litter box routine plus ventilation may do more than a very small purifier.

r/moderatelygranolamoms · Best air purifier for reducing dust and allergens in a kid’s room?

Our air doctor is amazing. They are expensive but definitely worth it. The only issue I have with them is the grates on the top of them. Our toddler pretty quickly figured out how to shove things in it and get them stuck in there and it can be a little bit of a hassle to get them out. So for that reason we have a levoit core 300 in his room and it does a good job as well. It’s a lot smaller but we can put it up out of his reach. We also have a bigger core 600 levoit that we use in our basement and it does a great job too.

Curious about the Levoit core 300, at about $100. Does it fit into this lineup? Seems to be a lot more powerful than the 200 at just $20 more.

r/BuyItForLife · Air purifiers - what actually works?

I think it goes Winix, Coway, Dyson, and Levoit. Levoit is better for the price of filters which is nice. The goal is to have one that is rated for the space of the room. 5-6 air changes per hour (ach) is ideal for people with allergies and this is based off the square footage. The most popular Levoit one The Levoit Core 300 delivers 4.8 ach in a 222 square foot room. So if the room is 160 square feet the ACH would be 6.0.

r/AirPurifiers · Is the winix a231/30 THAT bad?

at a 124 cad budget its fine. How many air changes you actually need can heavily depend on level of pollution. The unit can do about the 5 air changes an hour at max speed in your room. But I would say at least make app schedules to run this at faster speeds than auto when the noise is tolerable especially if you're not in the room while at work etc. And only run it on the sleep if truly needed at night as it will drop the air flow even more than just speed 1 or 2. levoit also makes good units but in that same price range they perform the same if not slightly worse like the core 300 from them has a slighty lower 222 ft2 4.8 ach vs the 246 of the winix unit. in this price range there is also CR boxes but the draw backs there are often the noise level of the box fans as they often do not go very quiet even at lowest speed . This can be an issue especially if used for a bed room. There are pc fan based diy boxes that can fix that but not everyone wants to do a diy box or likes the looks of them especially the easier to make often don't look as clean as a pre made air purifier.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 vs Levoit 300s UK

I'd get the Winix, simply because it's currently available for €139 on their German store-page. Also: IIRC, the Core 300 is of the round variety and comes with a 3-in-1 filter. The Winix has separate filter elements, including a separate pre-filter you can take out and dust off/wash quite easily. With pets in the house, you'll probably want to clean that thing quite often to remove hair from the pre-filter, so a unit like the Winix will be more convenient to maintain.

r/BuyItForLife · best air purifier for apartment, bad allergies

honestly just searched this exact thing last night and ended up here. went through the same thing last year - allergist told me the same and i ended up getting the levoit core 300 after going back and forth forever. under your budget, runs quiet enough that i forget its on, and my cat dander situation got noticeably better within like the first week or two. the filters are reasonably priced to replace which matters more than people think when theyre comparing upfront costs. only thing id say is if your apartment is bigger than like 200 sq ft youll want the 400s version instead, the 300 is better for a bedroom situation. been running mine for about 8 months now and no regrets. whats the square footage youre trying to cover? that changes the answer a lot tbh

r/moderatelygranolamoms · To allergy sufferers (dust mites), what is the best air purifier you've ever tried for dealing with this?

Levoit Core 300 was a total game changer for my dust mite hell, sneezing non stop from old pillows and Delhi humidity. As a fellow allergy sufferer, cranked it up in my bedroom and those constant sniffles dropped 80 percent overnight, barely hear it on sleep mode either. HEPA filter traps the tiniest mite crap without stinking up the room, filters cheap to swap. Best cash I spent this year if you're miserable like I was.

    r/AirPurifiers · Should I not get a Levoit?

We’ve owned two 300’s for the last three years. They were fine for the first 2 1/2. Never had an issue with replacing the filters. They had no smell. Last time I replaced they smelt awful. Contacted the company who was kind enough to send us new ones-same smell. Defeats the purpose of its going to off gas in our home and the smell didn’t go away. I’ll be shopping elsewhere.

    r/Mint99 · Best budget air purifier 2026

Sorry for the late answer. I guess you compared the core300 to core 200s (not to the 200) -right? If so, you are absolutely right. The Core 300 is the better option in case you don't need WiFi Connectivity (most people prefer without :) The reason the prices are so close is a trade-off: * **The 200S** is "Smart" (Wi-Fi and App), but weaker. * **The 300** is dumb (buttons only), but has a stronger fan and bigger filter. You are basically choosing between having a remote control (the 200S) or having cleaner air (the 300). For just $20 more, it covers way more space and works faster. It is easily the best value in that lineup - only in case you dont need WiFi. Hope this helps, please share what you selected? :)

r/dyson · Dyson Hushjet Air Purifier deep review ?

203 square feet seems insanely low for how much this costs, no? I've been using a Levoit Core 300 which I got for like $100 in 2022 and goes on sale for less and that covers 1073 square feet. Struggling to see how this is priced almost 4x while covering basically 1/5 of the space while other purifiers are a fraction of the price.

    r/AirPurifiers · Should I not get a Levoit?

Levoit Vital 200s gets great reviews. I read a ton of this stuff and I don't see people reporting those units malfunctioning. Over the years, yes, I've seen reports of issues with a whining noise on some units (the 300 and 400) but that was years ago and Levoit addressed it and also offered replacements. They also have good service. I have a Core 300 that is still going from 2020. A Core 300s. And most recently a Vital 100s and Vital 200s. If sized right, these latter two are what you should look at - not the Core units. Those were good in their day, but the Vital units are superior. As for the Hepa question, yes the Vital units are, on sleep mode, and the "scandal" about all of that was drummed up by a competitor - who makes inferior units.

r/AirQuality · RECOMMENDATION FOR MOST POWERFUL/ EFFECTIVE HOME AIR PURIFIER FOR DUST MITES, DANDER AND OTHER ALLERGENS?

The Levoit Core 300 is a great option for smaller to medium-sized rooms. It has a true HEPA filter, which is key for capturing fine particles like pet dander and dust mites. The design is simple, and it’s quiet, so it doesn’t disrupt daily life too much. I’ve found that it’s a solid choice for dealing with allergens and provides relief without breaking the bank.

r/AirPurifiers · Stop buying True HEPA / HEPA H13 air purifiers

I saw your edit after I submitted my response. Good catch there. The gap between E11 and E12 is big, and the gap between E12 and H13 isn't as big, but the particulate rate at 0.3 is only part of the story. PM2.5 is a huge concern for most people. H14 is a non-starter, I've discussed this at length before. You start to get to a place where airflow is too restrictive. H13 is a solid balance between free flow and actually capturing the smallest particles at a high rate. Folks who just want the pollen out of the air can, as you've suggested, save energy costs and reduce noise generation by getting a lower-rated purifier. It's hard, though - most manufacturers won't admit that their purifier is EPA 11 instead of HEPA 13. Marketing is a bitch - and the buzzword arms race costs sales. A perfect example here is Levoit Core series. A Levoit Core 300 is absolutely NOT HEPA 13. I suspect it's an E11 filter. They won't even admit what the filter is at this point because they took quite a beating claiming to be H13 when they weren't. But... does it clean air? Yeah, really well actually. The fan spin faster, is quieter, and the 360 design lets it turn over air more often. But that comes with a downside - faster fan burnout, more frequent filter replacements. And almost all E11/E12 round filters don't have a pre-filter, which decreases their main filter lifespan and leads to high operating costs - in most cases totally offsetting any savings on electricity. IQ Air's lower filter is E12. They aren't shy about saying so. Their upper filter is E12/H13 depending on how you measure it, but it's also 5" thick and is one of the best in the business. We're not in disagreement here, but the focus of the subreddit is on making sure people buy good units. I am not seeing a ton of units willing to admit to being E11 or E12 from reputable manufacturers. If I do, I'll endorse them. :)

    r/AirPurifiers · Thoughts on LEVOIT Core 600S?

Not directly related, but may useful if you prefer your purchases to last. I've repaired a number of Levoit Core 300 air purifiers due to a silly fault: blown thermal fuse - buried within the fans motor. Symptoms: turns on, but fan does not spin. Some were a real pain to access. Haven't personally worked on a Core 600S, nor have I sought them out, but they're likely built the same. I've currently got x3 Levoit Core 300 units scattered about the house, just doing their thing. All units I've repaired. Showed no indication as to why their fuses went; extremely clean, bearings in perfect condition, power draw post-repair was within specifications - otherwise internals seemed great. All failed units were between 4-6 years of age. After doing some research, other repair techs noted other failed devices utilizing thermal fuses. Their theory was that as the fuses age, they degrade - 'crystallize' IIRC. I'm inclined to support this theory, since the units I've repaired have been in otherwise immaculate, perfectly functional order - *aside from the blown thermal fuses...* Afraid I can't speak on the build choices of other manufacturers, but that's my limited assessment of Levoit units. Just a tangent, but after contacting Levoit support to express my concerns - I can confidently state they do not support right to repair. Actively deterred me from doing so, refused to address my reason for contacting them in the first place, and for fun - refused to provide any helpful documentation/information. But ayy, what company *doesn't* behave like this nowadays? ***Actually, [Peak](https://www.peakelec.co.uk/) doesn't. Will provide helpful documentation upon request - and may even assist you with custom modifications beyond the scope of their products.*** *Unfortunately, they do not make air purifiers.*
