Coway Airmega 150

Coway Airmega 150, packshot

r/BuyItForLife · What are the Best Air Purifiers on the market that you've ever tested and really trust?

What really matters, is HEPA CADR at an acceptable indoor decibel level (40db or less). Energy consumption at that level also has secondary importance, as running it 24/7 will cost you a fair amount over the lifetime of the appliance. You need an oversized DC fan/blower (sound increases exponentially with fan tip speed), a high quality cabinet, and deep HEPA filters. Those pc fan + low MERV filter kits will do basically nothing. I think the Coway Pro X is the best large room filter, Levoit 600 best medium, Coway 150 best small. Coway also has stuff that competes in the medium range, but I think it’s overpriced. Remember that you won’t actually run the filter at the advertised CADR rate, because the noise will be excessive, so you have to base the actual CFM on the lowest 2 levels (usually). The only thing that gets used on an air filter is the motor (aside from the filters), so make sure it’s a fully sealed DC motor, and it should last a very long time.

I've been using this purifier since 2 years and it's amazing. I can notice the difference especially during winters. You'll need to replace the filters in about an year or so. The led will start glowing once the replacement is due.

I run it 24*7 all year. Filter change in about 8-9 months (depends on your usage and location), it'll give you an indicator when change is needed.

r/AirQuality · I need the BEST air purifier out there pls!

You’re looking at this all wrong. I don’t want to cast aspersions on the website you were looking at but let me talk about a couple things. 1. No unit under $700 has much carbon so don’t worry about that. If you’d like a LITTLE carbon then Winix 5510, Coway 150/250 and Levoit Vital 100/200 are great options. 2. The Winix 5510 being “worse” than the 5500-2 is absolutely true. But the 5500-2 was the ABSOLUTE BEST in its class and price point, so that’s a high bar. The 5510 is a fine unit. 3. Blue Air units (except their pro line) generally aren’t HEPA, in fact almost zero round units are, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great units. I recommend BlueAir highly. My kids all use them exclusively. Just size it accordingly and keep the sock pre-filter clean. 4. Reddit sentiment analysis includes subreddits other than this one and is garbage. In here we have a recommendation list and it’s pretty consistent.

r/AirPurifiers · Air Purifier for Mold

So you… want… ionization? You do know it doesn’t… do… anything, right? And these units are sized appropriately for the CFM. what do you consider to be less obtrusive?

    Grande pièce
r/AirPurifiers · Help me decide: Coway Airmega 250 or Airmega 350

I use a Coway 250 in my master suite - 13x16 plus en-suite bathroom - and it is fine on medium 24/7. The 300/400 are for larger spaces. I’d recommend the 250 for a large bedroom, the 150 for a small bedroom, and the 300 or 400. I don’t recommend the 350 - the round design is inherently inferior to the others on this list.

r/AirPurifiers · Air Purifier for Mold

So you're focusing on the wrong things. Almost all units we recommend are H13 rated. Coway, Winix, even Levoit Vital. And third-party testing is ... not super relevant at this price point. You want a Coway 250 or Levoit Vital 200 for the upstairs and a Coway 1512 or Coway 150 or Winix 5510 or Levoit Vital 100 for the downstairs.

r/AirPurifiers · Which is better in India, 200 sq ft area, budget (INR 10k - 16k, roughly 100-200$) - Coway Airmega 150 or Coway Airmega Aim? Mixed info available all over youtube and other sites.

Regarding point 3... because it's HEPA? I really don't know what you're asking for here, Coway's filters are all HEPA (except the round models which I suspect are not). And they are ABSOLUTELY NOT H14. No home purifier on the market has an H14 filter. None. H14 requires a MUCH bigger fan, rubber seals, and significantly more high-end materials than any home unit contains. As for point 4... the smell is irrelevant. If it is present at all - which it often is not - it's the plastics of the unit from shipping and manufacturing, and will fade in a few days of use. And it's harmless.

r/AirPurifiers · Prime Day - Coway AirMega vs Winix 5500 vs Levoit Vital 200s

Per the [AHAM 2/3 rule](https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/), you need a bare minimum of 367 CFM Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs). But CADRs should be even higher if you're close to roadway traffic. Only one of these purifiers would not be enough. In other words, you would need 3 Coway Airmega 150 units **or** 2 Levoit Vital 200S units **or** 2 Winix 5500-2 units for minimum CADRs. Coway has the best quality of the three brands. They also tend to be more expensive and quieter. I don't know your budget. You could consider buying the [Coway Airmega 240](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-240?variant=40263676592170) (if you like the grill design) and the [Coway Airmega 150](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-150?variant=40203229888554), yielding a combined Smoke CADR of 435 CFM. Then use the codes **COWAYMEGA10** for an extra 10% off both models in your cart. Once the discount is applied, the subtotal would be $553.50 before taxes. Or you could buy 2 [Levoit Vital 200S](https://www.amazon.ca/Purifiers-Bedroom-Powerfully-Allergies-Coverage/dp/B0BGPF71Q6/?th=1) units from [Amazon.ca](http://Amazon.ca) with a combined Smoke CADR of 500 CFM. Total would be $350.98 CAD (before taxes?). Also double check the price of replacement filters from Coway and Levoit to see if those are acceptable to you. NB: listed CADRs apply to the highest airflow/speed setting only. Lower settings will have lower CADRs, which means reduced cleaning performance.

No problem! It really depends on what kind of noise level you're willing to tolerate. The 150 is technically adequate for 214 square feet, but you would need to run it at a higher and noisier setting than the 250.

Okay, i checked it for myself the purifier is indeed sold out but not discontinued and filters are still there for 3.5k basic and 5.9k for both carbon and main filter. It depends on the CADR and coverage of the purifier if it covers your room's area in Sqft then it will work efficiently. There has to be proper air flow for you to use it in multiple rooms if you can manage that. One purifier (with the rated coverage obviously) can work for multiple rooms.

r/gurgaon · What's your review for Coway Airmega 150 air filter?

The plastic quality is a little thin. Honestly the looks are great and then there's an auto mode that just does half the job itself. The Manish said that filters should be replaced in a year but we had to replace it in 7 odd months. Maybe because the city has really high pollution levels. Also it works in medium sized room but for large spaces it may struggle

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

I will still recommend FineHepa filters, tested them thoroughly during Diwali night and it worked. Mi AP4 with replacement filter kept us at 27PPM when outside was 500+ , so added Coway to the mix and the PPM was brought down to 13 with replacement filters from finehepa in both of them. I find the seller to be genuine so I will keep buying from them as long as they provide quality filters.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

I bought Coway FineHepa Filters in the past and continue to buy them even now, but these replacement filters are not performing like the Coway FineHepa. The PM2.5 filtration is not at par with the original Mi filter as well, the output PM2.5 readings are off. They show a difference of 10. Where as with the original it is at 1-2 PPM. As shown in the picture, with the original filter the output air is always 1-2-3 at the max. Mostly its 1PPM. But with the replacement filter it is at 11ppm. To cross check it, I switched between original xiaomi and finehepa filters back to back twice and taken the reading. May be rectangular replacement filters work better I guess due to simple design. And that musty smell put me off. When I replace filters on Coway, the musty smell goes away instantly.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

Detected the filter as new instantly. PM2.5 drops are like the original filter only. Its very hard to spot the difference between original and this one in quality if you remove xiaomi markings. My old filter has a musty smell which is very much prominent, the new one doesn't when I put my nose into the hepa filter and smelled it, but musty smell is very slightly persistent at the air flow with AP turned ON with the new filter. Don't know what it is. May be it will go away with time. I did not face any such issue with Coway FineHepa filters.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

I think I am qualified to answer this question, because I have both Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 and Coway Airmega 150. The thumb rule is, get whichever AirPurifier with abundant availability of replacement airfilters and that are also cheaper. But the catch here is Coway Airmega 150's CADR is really low and its highest CADR can only be achieved in the highest setting only. I am using pellet based activated carbon and hepa from a third party seller for ₹1749/- for more than a year and I must say it works much better than original filters from Coway. Pellet based filters lasts longer without that musty smell and my QingPing AirMonitor Lite shows single digit PM2.5 numbers after using replacement HEPA + Carbon filters, so they work !! Finally I find Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 really worth it for ₹13,500/- because of the laser Particulate sensor which is very accurate because I cross checked it with my QingPing AirMonitor Lite and the PM2.5 numbers are same with +/- 1 difference. And I opened it up to clean the Mi air purifier and I could easily do much better job in cleaning the entire filter easily including the fan fins. And the CADR is much higher compared to my Coway Airmega 150.

Never tried, it will be pretty fast. Mi AP4 punches above its weight. My hall is 1000 Sq.ft and within 30-40 mins it comes to single digit PPM. Coway is limited to my room. I just opened single bedroom window today for 10 mins to balance out the CO2 and the AQI spiked to 50ppm. Coway in its highest setting brought it to 18ppm in half an hour and it will further go to single digits as well if i keep the window closed, then will change it to silent 1 and remains like that for the whole time when I or my baby is sleeping. This AQI is a silent killer, there is no smell to it, cant be seen as well, it's not the small particles you see under light, they are even smaller, you can see it as a light beam, they are that small. So having an AQI monitor is handy. No just AQI , we also need to maintain CO2 under 1000ppm. Sensair sensors are very accurate in measuring CO2 levels [QP AM Lite]. I fill the house with enough oxygen during some point of the mid day and do not open the windows at night during this Diwali week.

No, it's not faulty at all, even mine is like that now. I am using mine since 2021. Initially there were no panel gap at all, but with the replacement filters that I am using, which are slightly thicker is causing a slight panel gap, which looks exactly like yours. There is No affect on the performance but there will be dust accumulated at the bottom which needs to cleaned once in a while. I am sure that even if you use replacement filters (pellet carbon + hepa) it will look like how it is now.

Wow, I didn't know this, I thought it was impregnated carbon filter like the Coway. Then will get another Mi4 if the price reduces. I used to wonder why I am getting dehydrated at night, now I understand it's because of the pelleted carbon which absorbs moisture as well. Its not a bad thing, it only happens with the AC is on, it's just how it is. You should get the pellet based carbon version + Hepa combo from FineHepa for your Coway Airmega 150, it's really good, I am using since 1 year. I got a pack of 3 pairs for 4k which is a good deal.

You can just turn the ioniser off, you don't have to use it just because it's there. It's not the worst thing anyway in short bursts, ozone up to a point is helpful. There's more ozone in outside air than inside. It's just hard to know what that point is without measuring it specifically. On the other hand, you can't de-coat a filter without buying a different third party one.

You picked great units. With every brand, there is the possibility of the filters giving off a smell when new. After all, they are made of synthetic materials and glue. If that happens to you, move them all to an unused room and run them for a week with the door closed before moving them to their intended locations.

I bought a coway mighty 2 yesterday. It's my first air purifier, but from what I gathered, it's going to be quieter than the coway 150 and obviously covers a larger room. You need to do the math to see if the 150 will clean the space you intend to put it in. I want to buy the coway 150 to compare since my room is only about 100sqft and I could keep the mighty 2 in my living room.

Been running the Coway Airmega 150 in the bedroom for a while now - my dog sleeps in there so pet dander and odour was the real test. Handles both well. Honest note on coverage claims - Coway advertises 73m² but real world is closer to 22m². Fine for a bedroom, just dont expect it to cover an open plan living area. No ioniser, no ozone, True HEPA, reasonable filter costs. For a bedroom unit its hard to beat at the price point. IQAir is genuinely better filtration but youre paying a significant premium. Unless someone in the house has a specific respiratory condition that warrants it, Coway covers what most people need. How big of a space do you keep it in? I am looking at it in their store online and it claims it's good for 1k square feet, then I'm finding reddit posts saying it's ideal for around 350sq ft.

We have two filters in the AP HEPA & Carbon, you have to change HEPA after an year cost 3300 and the carbon filter is around 2000. Carbon filter is also required to change, but some change it and some do not. So the cost of changing the filter is 5000 per year. Yes, I am changing it every year. There is a filter change indicator on the AP. This AP has a pre-filter that helps enhance HEPA filter longevity. Pre-filter you can clean manually every 15 days (depending on the City). I would suggest you buy an AP for your health. No one will change the air quality for you in the country where we have uneducated leaders and lazy babus. A few more upgrades you can do if your pocket allows. Water purifier Electric toothbrush

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

I ended up buying cuckoo respure non copper variant. Other than the noise if produces on highest fan speed mode, the purifier is perfect for extreme pollution. I just run it on speed 2 and it's super silent. Cfm (250) is better than most in this range, and it has a big filter. A lot bigger than coway 150. Plus, this pre-filter catches a lot of fine dust since its holes are smaller than the Coway 150’s, so it should help the HEPA filter last longer.

I purchased coway 150 and it's inferior to xioami 4 lite, atleast when their filters are new. I will update again in 3-4 months when they will choke with particles and see if the coway filter holds longer term better cadr or not. But the difference between them is not night and day. They are quite comparable. It's just that xioami 4 lite purifies the air better and leaves less dead-spots of dirty air than coway. Xioami's exhaust air direction is 360 degrees and coway's exhaust outlet air throw is 180 degrees. This is why the xioami leaves less dirty air overall in the room. I am considering of buying winix 5300 from amazon though. I will take risk on this seller because it's better purifier overall.

I have been using xioami 4 lite for more than a year now and it's been running perfectly and cleaning the air better than coway 150. I have used coway 150 since a month now. It's quite inferior to xioami unit. Xioami has a cadr of 360 m3/h and coway has 250m3/h. So you can see the huge difference in their smoke cadrs. I don't know how their motors will withstand time in the long run though.

If you want no nonsense regarding the filter availability coway and xioami are better suited in India right now. Just remember you have to replace xioami filter quite sooner than coway since xioami does not have a detachable pre filter which you can clean. Otherwise performance of xioami is top notch. I am talking from experience here. I have coway 150 and xioami 4 lite. I run them combined for maximum air purification in my room and I am satisfied by their performance. It's a shame we don't have winix 5500-2 here otherwise it's a lot powerful than either of these.

    r/AirPurifiers · My Coway AIrmega 150 review

Zoomed one *Processing img mhit99qf18wf1...* There is a panel gap on my unit of coway 150. The other side of panel looks fine. The fan is taking air from this as well as front intake. So the air taken through this gap is bypassing the hepa filter meaning lower cadr for me

    r/AirPurifiers · My Coway AIrmega 150 review

Can you share side panel photos too? I want to see how much gap is there when panels (which hold the filters) are snugly fit into the cabinet. Photos of both side one from dust sensor side and other from different side would be much appreciated since I also own coway 150 and I got panels gaps which are looking like a defect.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

Yes yours have no gap whatsoever. Mine is definitely a defective item. I will request a replacement from amazon right away. I also tried to see if the alleged defective gaps are also taking in air by putting a piece of tissue and it is sucking it. Meaning the some of the air is actually coming in from these gaps and going out of the upper went without going through the hepa filter. So what's the point of purifier? I am requesting a replacement now.

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

Yes my coway 150 definitely has a lot wider panel gap than your 150. I am thinking of either getting replacement since it's still inside the replacement window or just pasting a heavy duty thick tape on the gap so that the air does not come through those gaps but through the front air intake and from there through the filters and comes out of the upper exhaust. I am think it will become air tight this way? Here is another picture of the gap in the panel and the body of air purifier. This one is zoomed a bit. https://preview.redd.it/h353i22s3wvf1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1acff3986ce55cd61bd0281ebed86e750e94edc

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

Okay I will check fine hepa filter's when my filters are exhausted. I have one issue with my coway unit. As you can see — in the image, the front panel/door on Coway air purifier (the one that covers the filters) appears to have a slightly uneven gap along the right-hand edge compared to the rest of the body. On the opposite side, the alignment looks much more even and flush. Is that a faulty unit which I got delivered or is it minor acceptable misalignment with no affect on purifier's performance? https://preview.redd.it/bbdydzfi9rvf1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8373b9746191e3f0444cdaad15362a7aa29c24c1

    r/AirPurifiers · Winix 5500-2 on amazon India?

Yes. today my coway airmega 150 was delivered and I can say that the airflow on the xioami 4 lite is much better. Airmega 150 is definitely not on par with xioami unit in terms of cadr.

r/AirPurifiers · Is it necessary to replace the carbon filter in a Coway Airmega 150?

no. carbon works mechanically. just like any other typical air filter. the difference is of scale of the particles trapped-the mechanism is the same. tiny pores of the carbon dust/grains get clogged w/ physical material. carbon just traps smaller molecules-the size of the ones that typically register w/ your nose. a tiny microscopic sieve, but a sieve nonetheless. unless sunlight is a microscopic nano water pick/air blower, it ain't removing jack from any carbon pore ;)

In House Fresh’s AP4 Pro review they speculated that Xiaomi may be using a less restrictive filter for better performance. So it might even be that the replacement is a higher HEPA grade and performance goes down. You seem knowledgeable so asking for your thoughts on the IKEA Starkvind. House Fresh performance is better than Coway 150 and filter is for 1K. Cheers

I am also deciding between the two. I had finalised Coway AirMega 150, but then saw many YouTubers recommending MI 4 Lite. Check the Food Pharmer video on Air Purifiers. Apparently the long-term the filter replacement cost of MI 4 Lite is much cheaper than AM 150. However, MI does not state any information about the usage hours--only months.

I have been using coway airmega 150 since October 2023. It was my first air purifier, so can't say about others. The filter is still working fine. It has been 2 years. I just have to clean the pre filter regularly. But since I live alone and go to office during the day, mostly the purifier runs from 8pm to 7am or so. It used to take 5 to 7 minutes to go from red indicator ( > 200 aqi ) to blue ( < 50 aqi ), when it was new. Nowadays it takes 15 to 20 minutes. My room is around 350sqft. I mostly keep the doors closed. The air quality feels fresh as compared to outside. The sensor seems to work well. Though I haven't tested it with an Aqi monitor. The customer support is good, I got a call from their team to help me with installation after delivery. I got it from amazon. Haven't faced any issues till now.

Got it yesterday. Very simple & sleek aesthetics. But the performance is great. Used it in the bedroom (~300 sqft), doesn't take more than 10-15 minutes to clean it. Used it in the living plus dining room (~500-600 sqft), it took sometime, around an hour but it was able to bring the aqi to he best option (blue light). There's no fancy app connectivity or smart assistant stuff, but it suits me. I just want to turn it on and forget it. Would recommend.

Thanks very much for those suggestions. The Coway 250 and 150 seem like great options. They do, however, seem large and obtrusive to place in a small room. They also don’t seem to have the ionization on/off option to help with surface particles. Would there be any other option that is similar to the Coway 250 and 150, but is less obtrusive in design and provides an on/off ionization (no/low ozone option)? Thanks again for your help.

Blueairs make excellent cat scratching posts :) and yes, it does kick dust up into the air when you take it off -- so I do it outside. The coway pre-filters are well contained, and tend to not release stuff while you open them up and clean them. But I don't have experience with the pro x specifically. And with coway, it does depend a little; the 1512 is easy, but the 150/160 sliding one can release if there's lots on there or the fan is coasting down or running. I can't answer everything you are asking about. The spreadsheets here are maintained by volunteers :) like you!

Airmega 150 would be good for the nursery. I have 1 in there as well. On silent mode it’s…dead silent. Downstairs I have an Airmega 300S but I got a refund because the WiFi is not working. Airquality is showing very good 99,9% of the time, so I’m really not sure we needed any purifiers anyway, but the 300S IS catching a lot of dust on the pre-filters. We have a golden retriever who’s sheds like a motherf…and we run a vacuumrobot 3x a day.

    r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 150 mini review

For anyone still researching this purifier, I've checked my two units with an accurate PM2.5 monitor. On highest sensitivity, it actually tends to go blue (cleanest) after the PM2.5 drops under 8-10, which is actually pretty decent. Brought a smoky room of a 850 ft³ at PM2.5 200 under PM2.5 5 in 30 minutes with an 8 month old filter that just got flagged for a replacement by the machine. Going to compare it to my less used filter soon. My two units keep my apartment clean. With new filters, they could clean a 1700ft³ room in 20 minutes on max, and were able to keep the air clean (at PM2.5 of 1) on its medium setting. With both on max, they keep my 1400 sqft apartment under a PM2.5 of 3 with an outside level of 20

Also I want to know one thing from all coway airmega 150 buyers It has been 24 hours now, mine has started some mechanical ticking sound when the machine is in auto mode and light is green or blue. However it is a very light and little ticking that you can only hear if you place your ears near the fan. It comes only when fan runs at its lower and lowest levels, feels like something inside the fan setup is slamming. Is it normal in all (meaning the poor design problem or something) or should I just replace mine?

Ohh Thanks for sharing all this information mate I got my purifier yesterday, and I have to say, it MAKES a difference. I mean in the beginning I thought it was psychological as I have spent 14k that’s why I am feeling its difference😂 But no, Idk I can’t explain the difference properly but the main difference is that I feel room’s air lighter to breathe. It is like when I inhale outside the room, it feels like I filled my lungs as much as possible but still I am feeling some breathless and heaviness but inside the room I am feeling really airy and lighter. Idk if it’s still psychotic or not but thats my experience. Is it real or is it me only being delusional? Please tell

r/AirPurifiers · Got a Coway airmega 150 to protect myself from the winter pollution - short review

In 1000 aqi ,you would have to probably run the airpurifier on fan2 for like 70 minutes atleast. Aqi in Chandigarh has declined to 180 around so now it is taking less time around 15 minutes to get to blue ( lowest aqi level) on fan 2.  Also since the aqi is so high there, you would have to make some efforts on insulating your room. Look out for brush strips that can be pasted on the doors to cover the gaps. Even if there is a small gap, air purifier won't be able to anything.it will just keep on sucking the endless stream of pm2.5 coming from outside. It's not like coway is special but yes it does its job

r/AirPurifiers · Got a Coway airmega 150 to protect myself from the winter pollution - short review

Aqi level is completely inaccurate in any purifier. see some reviews on YouTube, they will show you the same. Earlier I had mi air purifier and its reading was completely bogus. Also search for a pm2.5 monitor or aqi monitor online. The cheapest aqi meter is worth atleast 8000 rs or like 100 dollars. Makes you wonder how they can integrate such a sensor in an air purifier worth 150 dollars. So yes I do not want aqi level display. As for app integration, I do not like the hassle associated with it. Pushing a button is much easier for me than using an app to operate it. Earlier I too was intrigued by all these apps but now I avoid them. But if you want timer or something like that then perhaps yes. As for the cost, it is worth it. It's available at a cheaper price during off season but I had to buy it urgently since the aqi in winters shoots up. The alternative circular filter type air purifier- I don't like them. They don't have pre filter mesh also which is washable. So I feel like those circular filters may choke sooner. It's a very simple machine. Just a fan and filters. 2 touch buttons on top for power on off and fan speed. Nothing else. does it's work. So yes, satisfied. It's aqi sensor also feels relatively accurate to me. Changes quickly when someone opens the door for even 5 seconds.

I too am returning my coway 150 purely due to shitty auto mode which keeps on changing fan speeds like crazy. Moreover i believe they should have included more number of fan speeds. When the indicator shifts from green to yellow, the fan drastically becomes very fast which disturbs the person instantly. They should have gone with a smoother switch between green and yellow.
