r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. Man I’m sorry you’re in this situation. I would almost suggest return the Waze 2 and using the month for something else or paying off the loan. Unemployment and homeless, idk if a “luxury” item like the Waze 2 is ideal. I know you’re scrambling to keep you and your dogs safe. I’ve stopped by some of the subs for people really down on their luck living on the streets or in the car, and I can’t imagine buying the wave 2 being an idea. Sorry I can’t offer any good advice but I do hope things get better asap.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is 70% off. Black Friday I got the Wave 2 and battery for $649. No issues no complaints, fits my needs. I definitely wouldn’t pay $999. Most complaints I saw before buying were from people that weren’t using it correctly or had unrealistic expectations. It’s niche device if the situations you plan to use it for don’t fit that niche then it’s a waste of money.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 battery-get new or refurbished? I bought the refurb combo. The wave 2 and battery are shipped separately and both arrived in new boxes and zero sign of ever being opened/used. I do agree that the battery does drain a little quicker than I’d like, but that’s going to be dependent on your settings and desired temp. It’s a massive battery and heavy. I wouldn’t have any reservations about buying it “refurb” from eBay.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It I think a lot of people have no idea what the capacity of the Wave 2 is. It's about 1500W. It's not going to handle a large space, a poorly insulated space, or magically cool something in 5 minutes. Physics dictates otherwise because of the power limits needed to run it off batteries. The standard battery for it is also NCM so not only really expensive but also only 800 or so cycles. Our wave cools and heats a somewhat bigger than 10m2 room that's in an awkward spot to cover with the other heatpumps just fine, but it's passably insulated (18" stone) and nobody expects it to magically do the job in 5 minutes. More of a problem for general as opposed to camping type use though is that it's not really able to operate dual hose below 4C or at very high temperatures. For our bit of Europe that is fine but for a lot of places that is not. As a 1500W heatpump/aircon it's fine IMHO - but it's hyped up to be a lot of things it is not.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is 70% off. It's been way overpriced but I'm not sure it "barely functions". It does what it says on the tin - it's a heatpump for camping and small rooms. Everyone keeps trying to use it for stuff that's way beyond what a 500W electric / 1.5kW heating device can handle. If they put the UK price down that low I might buy a couple more in fact.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 at sub zero I actually measured this for the room I use our wave2 in - the Wave 2 won in single hose mode by about 1.5x over resistive heating. The scientific literature on the subject reckons 1.8 You can't usefully run a wave 2 below about 4C or so with both pipes outside as it can't cope with the frosting and stuff. It's simply not rated for it.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is 70% off. Heat below 40F thing is annoying although only if you get below 4C and don't want to run it single hose when really cold. I'm in the UK so we don't need much aircon and below 4C is rare, below 4C internally doesn't really happen. They work for our climate 8) Wouldn't have much use for one in Canada or Florida though!
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 Open Box (REI) One about 130mm one about 150mm and water hole. Easy enough to cut them out of hard insulation foam (and better thermals than a 3d print).
r/Ecoflow_community · Is it ‘normal’ for the Wave 2 water pump to constantly cycle when in automatic drain with external drainage turned on? Not seen anything in the instructions but I unplugged the cable attachment (it just clips in) and added a small amount of water carefully whilst keeping it all flat, various bits of gunk came out and it settled back down. Not sure where the muck came from - mould perhaps ? but it's been happy since.
r/Ecoflow_community · Is it ‘normal’ for the Wave 2 water pump to constantly cycle when in automatic drain with external drainage turned on? Mine did this at one point until I cleaned out the hose and reservoir. I guess gunk confuses it. If it's always doing it then it sounds like a fault, but as it's been discontinued you may have trouble getting a repair versus just being offered credit on a Wave 3 8(
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. Wave 2 is not going to keep a metal box with lots of windows cool. It's small but as a result low power too. Do you have all the sunny side windows covered, preferably externally, or are you parked in the shade ?
r/Ecoflow_community · Is Ecoflow Wave 2 for me Wave 2 is discontinued, wave 3 is replacing it shortly. You need both hoses for efficiency, one will sort of work badly, or kind of ok with the unit outside the house. Will it work - well that depends on the level of insulation, sun shining on the room, windows etc.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow wave 2 massive condensation issue It is condensing on the outside of the exhaust hose because the hose is very cold. Insulating the hose will help a bit.
r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow wave 2 on constant heat mode. If it's got as defective thermostat then you need to talk to Ecoflow support and get it replaced.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 (worth the gamble) vs Wave 3 Think I'd actually care a lot more about \- energy efficiency (15% more watts is fairly minor but OTOH an improved COP etc would amplify that quite a bit) \- actually being usable below 4C and at higher temperatures when cooling. Kind of moot here (UK) though as the Wave 2 is sold out and there don't seem to be any bargain ones to be had.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Generally I'd say "don't" for the battery. Unless it's changed the Wave 2 battery is really expensive \*and\* it's old style NCM not LiFePo4 so has a short lifespan and is much more of a fire risk - not good value and IMHO also not good in a tent. You can get a cable to hook it to a Delta 2 instead and end up with a much more useful combination for a similar price - often less.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It It's a heatpump not a resistive system so the actual heating/cooling power is much higher than the power drawn from the suply which is what you are looking at. Ecoflow quote the actual cooling/heating as 5100 and 6100 BTU, which is real units is 1495 / 1788 W.
r/Ecoflow_community · Delta 2~Wave Delta 2 battery is a lot better than the Wave battery for the job, if more bulky as it's a newer tech so has way more cycles. There's an XT150 cable for direct connection - but it's pricey.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Wave 2 DC really assumes its plugged into an Ecoflow battery. As you've got an EV and the wave draws under 600W you really don't have to care much
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 making terrible noise The water hose attaches to a little piece that is detachable so you can clean up any blockage on the port or the pipe easily but that's about it.
r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 As I understand it the 240/110v side just generates DC and the unit runs off the DC (presumably so they get that max efficiency on battery where it's most essential) so it sounds rather less like the converter board but speculation...
r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 Never seen this (crosses fingers). Unit has been plugged in since I got it in the sale but isn't used much at the moment as it's intended for heating. Do you have the add on battery or cable to attach it to the Delta 2 etc and does it work like that when it logs the fault ? The hour wait is curious but without a breakdown of the system or why they do that as a "fix" I'd be concerned as to whether the short-circuit was humidity driven and something like water condensing in the internals.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 has a defective drainage and can't be fixed **Unplug the provided hose. Put a toothpick halfway into the drain hole and watch the water gush out.** **Ecoflow made the worst drain possible with the Wave series and even gravity while standing on level surface it won't drip out, but if you break the surface tension of the water (with a toothpick or similar object) it will.** It will solve your problem. Its not elegant and Ecoflow should still be called out for stupid drain design. But you can at least use your Wave.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 are totally unreliable, 2 units have died in under a year I'm 50% think its good, 50% its bad. But 100% if you don't know anything about HVAC stay away. (Small context: I live in the Philippines, some market/support/availability etc may be different.) My Wave 2 unit is a refurbished one for $300 when the price for a brand new was 800$. It being a refurbished one was already a sign that there's a decent amount of these being returned. But it was $300 so I bit the bullet. It didn't come with a small air hose which to their credit they sent right away. It didn't take more than a few tests when the display went haywire and it never got back to normal. Now, its just a garbled display. The unit still cooled fine and worked with the app. I now have to pull out the phone when I want to change settings because I'd never know what the display says. The drain never works as intended. You plug the provided Ecoflow hose. Nothing comes out. All the water drips out the small joints and corners of the Wave where it isn't intended to come out of. You use the button on the app to manual drain, the pump makes noises but nothing comes out. The hose has such a small rubber gasket that the pump inside can't even push the water out the hose. I even tried to increase the inner circumference of the gasket by using a cutter and removing parts of the inner rubber. No dice. I don't know if it being refurbished meant the evaporate pump was broken, but either way Ecoflow's supposed smart draining technology was basically the stupidest thing ever created. I took out the hose and just waited for water to drip out. It didn't. You can see the water inside, but the water couldn't even break surface tension to drip out the actual condensate drain without the rubber gasket. Literally the water is trying to get out of an eye dropper. **Idiots built this drain system.** I put a toothpick half into the drain outlet and BLOOSH, water comes out like a faucet. The toothpick was enough to break the surface tension and through adhesion to the toothpick it pulled the water to the outside of the drain and out of the AC. **Idiots built this drain system.** AC systems have been around for nearly 200 years, the rest of the HVAC world know how to get an AC to drain the condensate. But Ecoflow had to come up with some stupid drain that never works. Worst part is, you can't even connect a typical rubber hose to their stupid contraption because it only juts out about 1mm from the casing. **Idiots. Built. This. Drain. System.** Right now, I have a funnel attached to the bottom of my Wave 2. The funnel goes to a rubber hose to drain where I want. A jerry-rigged ziptie is partially inserted into the drain outlet to entice water inside to drip outside into the funnel. The AC itself cools my van down assuming it gets enough power and ducted properly. It hasn't failed that so far.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 at Burning Man inlet question What you are doing is "single hose" setup. You are using the air within the yurt to absorb waste heat, and then you expel that air out of the yurt. That missing air then is refilled by outside hot air being sucked into the yurt through gaps, thereby heating up your yurt. After you run the wave2 in such a setup for a while, the yurt remains the same temperature as the outside, the only cool area to be right in front of the blower. If you are very worried about dust, you can periodically take off the rear shroud and clean it, or maybe set up a filter box similar to a Corsi-Rosenthal box.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 single pipe option? It's not if the Wave 1 or 2 have "single pipe option", it's that you wouldn't want to use *any* portable AC with just a single vent. With a setup of a single vent of any portable AC, you're taking internal (cooled) air and pushing it out the vent. Since your space can't be in a vacuum, that air has to be replaced, and what happens is that you draw in (hot) air from somewhere else. Your space will never get cooled.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. I’m sorry but this isn’t a “dangerously terrible” product. I have two of them and you have to understand what they are designed for. At the end of the day this is a 5100 BTU air conditioner. It isn’t remotely powerful enough to keep a car cool on a sunny 90-100 degree day. Cars are poorly insulated sealed metal boxes that regularly get to 120°+ in the sun turned off. At best you’ll get a 20° difference in air temperature out of this air conditioner which still puts you at 100° range. Where this air conditioner will shine is at night when it doesn’t have to fight against thousands of BTUs worth of heat from the sun. I regularly use mine while camping in central Florida, it makes zero difference during the day but at night in my tent it makes a massive difference. As for your tough times, I thoroughly feel bad for you and wish you nothing but the best in getting a job and getting back on your feet. My advice? Return the financed Wave 2, save the money on gas to idle your car & use its air conditioning system when absolutely necessary. Reach out to friends, family, trusted colleagues, anyone who may be able to lend you a hand.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. Right but their marketing also shows it sitting in a room cooling a woman with no hoses attached.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 icing issue I'm on my 5th, Started with a Wave 2, it broke and they replaced with a Wave 3. The next 3 all broke. Including the one I currently have... It rattles like crazy on Max mode and also freezes up. These are all defective or made with incredibly low-quality parts. They are designed to fail with minimal usage.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. I think its really just massively undersized for a typical car. Cars usually have uninsulated panels and single-pane glass, the typical car A/C system is around 12,000 BTU and SUVs around 30,000-36,000 BTU to keep them cool. The Wave2 is only 5,100 BTU in cooling mode. You may be able to make it more effective by covering most of the exterior windows and/or putting up a cheap pop-up canopy over the main body of the vehicle to reduce solar heating loads.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. I do agree, the marketing (let's be real - Ecoflow and most other small similar units) is quite misleading. The battery power station marketing isn't much better how they imply a small unit can run an entire house for days or weeks. With sufficient insulation, it could likely keep a van at an acceptable temp for living. Stock...I doubt it.

r/Ecoflow_community · Question. Is Wave 2 better than Wave 3 or something?? This product seems to fit what Im looking for, but the amount of negative posts/comments arent reassuring I'm going to offer a slightly different perspective than the one other comment (so far). When I bought my first ecoflow products, this subreddit was mostly positive. I think their new products are having issues/quality is going down/support....well that one I don't know. It seems like support always kinda sucked. With an asterisk. I bought two wave 3's. One broke on its first use. Support was slow and tedious, but they did ultimately replace it outright. So it was worrisome getting there but in the end they did make it right. That seems like a common story with ecoflow. Then there seem to be some more rare outliers that struggle to even get that. Do with that info what you will. Now that I have two functional ones, I like them a lot. They do what they're supposed to do. They're portable, they cool well (on normal and max). I feel like they've elevated my camping experience quite a bit. I am concerned that a lot of the posts have very similar failures related to the 110v input port with the wave 3. It's how one of mine died almost out of the box. But its replacement and the other one are going strong so far. It's also concerning (annoying) that you can't seem to buy/replace some of the accessories that come with them that are necessary for use. Such as the duct adapters. Good luck if you break one. Then it seems as if once they launch a new version of a product, all support for the prior version immediately stops. But I have seen posts where dead units still within warranty get replaced with the newer version. And finally, where I just agree with the other poster, I do think they just missed the mark a bit. Now that I have them I think I would have been happier with the wave 2. I think I would have traded fewer btu's of cooling power for the lower power draw of the wave 2.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance.... Does anyone know if they have mentioned if the wave 2 is getting more stock or is the wave 3 the only a/c product in the future? I think I'd rather the lower watts of the wave 2 but its been out of stock for a while

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. This is only a temporary solution, but the only way the Wave 2 is going to be useful to you right now is if you can find public parking with some shade, keep the unit on your trunk with the output tube going into the car, and find new parking if you get told to leave. Not ideal, I know. Hoping for the best for you and your dogs.

r/VanLife · Van Aircon (ecoflow wave 2 + delta 3 extra battery + 12.8v 100ah lifepo4) very rough proof of concept That vent hose adds a lot of heat to your space. The trick is to find a way to get the AC as close to the vent window as possible, so you can keep the exhaust hose run as short as possible. If you can't do that, then insulate the exhaust hose by putting a blanket around it.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 are totally unreliable, 2 units have died in under a year My Wave 2 was a dud and Ecoflow replaced it and battery with a Wave 3 and battery and I'm super grateful for it. The Wave 3 was barely just released at the time and my Wave 2 was from their eBay return store. So IMO, they went above and beyond. That said, I use it in a pretty unconventional way: to keep a large grow tent I have (2) resin 3D printers in at a stable temp during Midwest, US summers. The grow tent is in an unattached, uninsulated garage, so it's a challenge outside of ear spring and fall to actually print things. Wave 3 has been doing a solid job for me. It runs for around 6 hours a day with the evenings and early mornings not needing cooling. I've been using it since it launched with no major issues outside of MPPT error when I have too much solar trying to go into the battery. All that said, I'm not really convinced that it the usage it's actually designed for (cars and camping) that it's a very good product. I mean, if you're in a shady area, maybe? Bit overall the cooling and especially heating seem very underpowered.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow WAVE 2 Exhaust ducts They have the same clips. The 3D parts I printed for my windows to connect the Wave 2 ducts, work with the Wave 3 ducts.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) I dont think so because a 3D printed shroud I bought for the Wave 2 to do the same thing doesn't fit on the Wave 3. So the whole front intake shape was redesigned.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow WAVE 2 Exhaust ducts They are better for sure. Easier to route than the stiff plastic and the insulation helps some, but didn't completely resolve the problem of heat/cold bleed. I'm still wrapping the rear exhaust for best performance.
r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow wave 2 on constant heat mode. Mine does the same. Heating cycles between 70W and 400W every 3 min no matter what setting or fan speed. Did you end up exchanging or just returning? In also have a ticket open and not really sure which way to go since I don't know if this is normal or broken.

r/Ecoflow_community · Squealing noise from Wave 3? I have the wave 2. It's done that one or twice. Seems to be the auto-drain pump thinking there's water when there isn't. Usually toggling drain to manual and then back fixes it. Also just purging anything in there helps.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 outlet air direction Airflow is at a weird angle because blower wheel is constricted. It would have to be bigger or they'd need to have it more open (and more vulnerable to debris) to allow uniform airflow to the blower wheel.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow WAVE 2 Exhaust ducts I have heard that the wave 3 ducts are physically compatible with wave 2 but I'm not able to confirm it.

r/Ecoflow_community · Brand new Wave 3 - horrendous sound from water drain pump Solution: (CAVEAT: Before the pump eats itself) Had this EXACT problem with my wave 2 and dreaded the thought of warranty and time turn around. Grabbed a few bottles of drinking water and poured in the front and rear to flood the sump. (To the point of water running out over the sump to help remove debris) Unit triggered an alert for overfull and cut cooling briefly while it pumped out the excess, and it really spat out a good stream of water. Suddenly noise free and returned to silent operating. Threw a few more bottles through because why not. Upon inspecting with a light, there are rusty screw heads in the sump (despite always draining it after use) and figure some debris was trapped in the pump. Free it up with a whole lotta flow and back to normal operating.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) Doesn’t make a difference no matter how I set it up. Wave 2 is always 4/5F cooler and blows faster. Wave 3 has wider air output and would say puts slightly more air. I get a clicking noise on mine so I’m speculating something internal was broken during shipment.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) That’s what Wave 3 is rated at in eco mode. My wave 2 consistently drops 20f in max. Here it is doing 24 degrees on a low humid day. r/Ecoflow_community · Trying to decide if the Wave 2 or 3 can fit my camping needs.(mostly looking for similar experience but helpful advice is welcome) If you're just looking to make sleeping in the tent more comfortable, rather than trying to air-condition the whole thing like a hotel room, the Wave 2 is probably enough. And the sleep mode does help, it won't be running flat out all night, so the noise is a lot less noticeable when you're trying to sleep.

r/Ecoflow_community · Question. Is Wave 2 better than Wave 3 or something?? This product seems to fit what Im looking for, but the amount of negative posts/comments arent reassuring 1. It’s just human nature that pissed off people post more than pleased people. 2. Wave 3 is fine, so is the 2. I have both. For a small van a 2 with an insulated hose is probably plenty. 3. People hate the wave because of the price and the higher wattage in the same footprint. Ecoflow just missed the mark; either make it cheaper, make it smaller, or make it more efficient. It did none of those things. Now, the drainage system is way better and it has some nice extra features and for my needs in the back of a small trailer hooked up to a pro 3 I love having the extra output. But I’m a minority on the use case, if I didn’t rearrange the trailer constantly for different jobs or completely empty it to put vehicles in I’d be stupid to not use a mini split over a wave 3.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is 70% off. With the btu that it's rated for it should be able to cool a 10 foot by 10 foot bedroom which has less physical air space due to items in the room, and it can't. It will barely drop half a degree in an hour. I'm sure part of that is because half of the hot exhaust air goes back into the room through the thin uninsulated exhaust hose. I have 2 I could use at the same time, but even then it's barely going to make a difference. Maybe if I buy a bunch of stuff to insulate it correctly it would work better, but then it's not portable. And again it can't do heat below 40F.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is 70% off. I use the Wave 2 to cool my van when boondocking. I’ve also used it to cool my condo when the electricity has dropped for days. Not a single complain in either scenario. I have a standard Coleman AC on the roof of the van, for when I’m plugged in. It doesn’t cool much quicker than the Wave 2, if at all. r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. Just insulate EVERYTHING that isn’t front intake/outlet. Cover everything, wrap it thick as you can. The two hoses especially the exhaust you mentioned. Only use it with the two hose to outside mode. You can improve your efficiency a lot by insulating the wave 2 and your car as much as possible.
r/Ecoflow_community · Quick Wave 2 upgrade Nice! I’m planning on adding an inline 12v fan as well. That flex hose saps your flow rate.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 battery-get new or refurbished? Delta 2 max with xt150 cable is really the best choice.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Those numbers you pulled out are comparing the Wave 2 on wall power vs battery power. On battery power it will be in DC mode. What battery are you using for dc mode? Also, technically the wall wart is already an AC to DC converter…
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 Open Box (REI) It doesn’t though. It’s just a piece of plain foam with two holes punched in it. No locking action.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter The cable is actually just a LCDI cable, the converter is in the Wave2. So youre going DC to AC to DC… if you buy the battery you can avoid that double conversion loss and whatever is going on inside the wave2…
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Theres also a different port you would be using on the wave2 that you have to consider along with the different internal pathways. Not something to worry about though if you’re not buying another battery since the option isn’t available to you anyways.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter It’s not just the where the power comes from, it’s how it’s converted, at what voltage, what current is loss to heat, power factor of pumps, impedance of coils, connector losses etc… could even be evoflow breaking it with software to force users to buy 100$ cable and 1000$ battery…
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Yes part of the loss is the wall wart itself and the rest is probably in the wave2. You should read that forum if you want to understand what I meant with the 350v. Also you didnt answer what battery you are going to use. The Wave2 DOES NOT accept DC unless it has its own battery connected. If you want an AC-to-DC converter you want 48v output at 10amp. That’s all the Wave2 can take through its XT60 port. HOWEVER, since you will need a battery anyways you can just buy a delta3plus and a XT150 cable. Plug wave2 into d3p with xt150 cable and plug d3p into the truck with 120v cable. That’s how I would do it.
r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 Did you solve this issue? I see that Germany allows back feeding the grid so any of your neighbours could be doing all sorts of funny stuff…
r/Ecoflow_community · Quick Wave 2 upgrade 350cfm 😳 I think the ecoflow fan must be around 100cfm max. Probably the one you listed is closer to a 100cfm though, unless it’s wildly efficient
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 battery-get new or refurbished? Yeah I think it’s kinda insane that the solar charge controller on the wave2 maxes out at 400W but also the wave2 draws 400w while being used so you’re barely breaking even trying to charge it.
r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 I would never use it on the grid with 230 AC without surge protector or clean electricity. Too fragile to break. Every report about damaged wave 2 is “so I connected it to my crappy grid power and it fried…”

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. As someone who had a business transporting mini-yatchs cross country (sleeping at truck stops along the way from East Coast to West Coast), there is nothing except idling the engine and using AC that will cool the inside of a vehicle in the 90 - 100 degree heat to say like 60 degrees. Then you add in 3 more heat producing machines (2 dogs, 1 human) and it just requires too many BTUs. Can it cool a vehicle cooler than it would have been without it? Yep. But not in the situation you are trying to make it work in. That's an unrealistic.

r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow Wave 2 on 240v: separate cord needed? Cables do not suffer from high voltage, but from high current (amps), which causes them to heat up. Since in Europe half the current will flow through the cable than in the USA for the same power, an American cable under 230 V will be significantly less stressed and will heat up even less than in America. Yes, your American cable will work even better than in America because it will only be loaded with half the current.
r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow Wave 2 on 240v: separate cord needed? So that changes the situation. The cable can handle 300V voltage and so the European voltage of 230V is not a problem for it. The problem is in the cable end, where you have 120V indicated. And that is the weakest link. This end might not handle 230V. That is why you get different answers, someone reacts to the cable and someone reacts to the end. I recommend that you do not use a cable with a 120V end in Europe.
r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow Wave 2 on 240v: separate cord needed? If you bought a device for 120V and 230V, you can safely use it on both voltages, including accessories (cables). Or does the cable say that it is only for 120V?

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 has a defective drainage and can't be fixed Sorry you got bit by these - I did too. I've been completely turned off of EcoFlow after the experiences I've had with the Wave 2 and their nonexistent QC for refurbished products (Delta 2 Pro). On the Wave 2, they made the drainage hole so small that the water can't get through it. The only way to actually fix it is to expand the hole so that the surface tension of the water can't prevent it from flowing. But even then, the drain pan itself is not sealed and doesn't have high edges, so any tilt will cause the excess water to drain out the bottom onto the battery. It's a shit design and the only way to use this thing is to leave it half-tilted over a 5 gallon bucket to catch the runoff. Definitely gonna be looking for a sailboat AC or something similar when this thing kicks the bucket.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance.... After my first Wave 2 was replaced under warranty for a scrambled screen, I never updated the firmware on the replacement. Did they do any firmware improvements beyond the water drain thing? My biggest complaint was that even manually set, the Wave 2 demonstrably adjusts the compressor, presumably targeting a delta t of somewhere around 18 degrees between inlet and outlet. If you don't build a shroud or purposefully pipe inlet and outlet away from each other you get degraded performance. I'm on shore power damnit, I don't care about wattage, I just want either max or manual mode to be true. I'm guessing the Wave 3 isn't different or they did something like target a delta of 20F instead or something.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 outlet air direction And you absolutely should, or at least create a partial shroud to separate the air flow from the intake because you want the intake to be as close to ambient temp/warm as possible.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance.... Oh, I take it camping, we have some insulated tent inserts and an insulated hammock wrap that makes summer camping in Texas less sucky. It's easy to get a state park site with power. Sometimes I use it to move air around in the garage if I have to be out there in these heat waves. My 14k btu "portable" weighs 87 pounds and needs 1575 watts, which basically means a dedicated circuit and that can be inconvenient to do in the summer.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) Honestly, after owning a wave 2 With battery for a couple of years now I’m convinced that it’s more effective to call it a dehumidifier than to be sold as a viable heater/AC unit. Especially in the context of camping where if you need a portable heater, it is far more cost-effective to buy a self-contained diesel heater which if you only use a couple of times will still leave money in your pocket. I’ve done a few tests in my small camper trailer employing multiple external sensors, and the results are laughable compared to a cheap Kmart element heater hooked up to one of the EcoFlow battery systems, at least one of the battery systems could be used for other applications beyond heating and cooling. r/Ecoflow_community · Is Ecoflow Wave 2 for me UK here - had a large ‘portable’ and changed fit eh wave. The portable was a better unit, but I wanted to be able to pick it up and move it about. Glad I got the wave, but it’s ’under powered’. Go for the wave if you can get a deal you’re happy with and you know it’s a compromise for the size. Like others have said - you need to vent it to outside for it to work.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance.... That would actually be $749 after you pay the $100 for the coupon. 1300 - 450 discount - 200 coupon + 100 cost of coupon = $749. I should have bought a Wave 2 when they were like $400.

r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow wave 2 on constant heat mode. Seems to do the same, set it for always on 'MAX' mode and it cycles down frequently. Have not found a way to correct, override, or use an alternate temperature sensor so far. Heat output seems minimal when the air intake temperature is close to the lower limit of the design spec. Right now my intake is around 7C and the heated space doesn't get much past 14C but it will cycle down anyway. Interestingly mine frequently shows ambient as 'lower' than actual by quite a bit. It has only been in use for a week or so. Have a support ticket open. Probably going back.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 (worth the gamble) vs Wave 3 Well if you want I'll ship you one :) Can get the unit + battery for around $850 + tax now. Actually I saw that combo go on sale for $799 but with the right codes and credits and luck I'm thinking it will be down to $700 again sometime soon. You have valid points, the point of the unit is to balance cooling & energy efficiency and I think they can probably push both with various incremental improvements (like even a better refrigerant). I think the form factor too can be pushed a bit too... larger a bit won't really make it less portable but you squeeze more performance. I'm honestly shocked that there isnt a portable ac that is a cube/horizontally wide shaped vs all the tall rectangles. LG or Hisense could just repackage one of their units in a different shape and that would work for a van imho

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 at sub zero Short circuiting the exhaust will make the exhaust temperature go down forever... It will shut down and do nothing at 40°F. So ... You would need to ensure the air coming into it is above that temperature. It is a heat pump. It is taking in "outside" air, extracts heat and exhausts colder air to the outside. It will block/freeze up if the outside air gets cooled down to below freezing.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 at sub zero Heating doesn't produce water because heating decreases the relative humidity all by itself. The wave 2 is way more efficient if you do both pipes, but it also stops working outside 41°F - 122°F intake temperature. Your usecase only worked because the car inside was within the temperature range the whole time. A space heater would have been more efficient. It would have caused less air exchange.

r/Ecoflow_community · Can't DC to DC Charge Wave 2 Battery from Smart Generator Dual Fuel? I have this exact set up and yes, the wave 2 battery can charge directly from a do a fuel generator using the DC cable. Have you tried changing the ends of the cable that plug in to each device? I have one EcoFlow XT150 cable (thankfully a short one ) that doesn’t like to be connected to the generator-so I just flip it around and use the other end. They should be identical, but this cable has an issue at one end.
r/Ecoflow_community · Can I use this cable to power wave 2 from 24v You can use that cable to charge the battery, but you can’t use the wave while it’s being charged.
r/Ecoflow_community · Delta 2~Wave I have a wave 2 and several Delta series batteries, including a couple of Delta 2 max and a few extra batteries. And the generator. The dedicated battery for the wave 2 is useful, you can get them refurbished on eBay for about $400. It’s more compact and latches onto the bottom of the wave unit. It also allows you to connect a solar panel directly to the wave, and the power supply inside the wave and charge the battery directly from AC when available. It’s about 1 kWh in capacity and you’ll be surprised how fast you can burn through that-in reality maybe four hours of use. The wave is amazing in how little power it uses in Eco mode however if you’re cooling off a hot space or it’s really hot outside, it’s going to draw about 500 W. So maybe two hours on the dedicated battery The Delta 2 is my least favorite device in the EcoFlow lineup, it’s just not big enough to be very useful. The Delta 2 max doubles the capacity in only a slightly bigger case and it’s quite useful, especially when paired with an extra battery. Speaking of which, the Delta 2 /2max series extra batteries can also directly power the wave 2, but cannot be charged by the wave 2.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 - Tips for cleaning playa dust out I would also be concerned about buildup in the bottom of the unit. The entire lower panel of the enclosure acts as a condensation pan and then drains to the drain at the back of the unit. I try to figure out some way to flush that out. I’m not suggesting spray a garden hose into it, somehow spray water at a low pressure into the unit that would clean the coils and then go down into the evaporator pan and then out the drain in the back. Then let it dry out for a few days.
r/Ecoflow_community · Need help - Use DC power from Power Hub/Kit to power Wave 2 via the XTsolar input? The wave 2 will not work with only power input on the XT60 port. The fan will turn on, but the compressor will not. If you have the battery attached it might work.
r/Ecoflow_community · Can I use this cable to power wave 2 from 24v No, that won’t work. Not enough power.

The connector in picture should be able to handle what is specified in car charging in these specs, it is a yellow XT60 which will let the battery know to constrain it to car specs. The Orange XT60i which you don't have has a third lead that lets battery know to accept higher solar input although it appears your input watt limits are the same either/or. All good.

r/Ecoflow_community · Difference between Eco and Sleep modes in the Wave 2? I found that eco mode lowers the speed of the compressor and the fan speed, the sleep mode in my case is relatively the same with the exception the compressor turns off at points just leaving the fan running and after a period of time kicks back on. This is the worst part because it instantly wakes me up.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. If you are sticking the ducts outside the front windows could you position you wave 2 on the center console, and hang a curtain or small blanket between the front area and the cabin of the car. Leave only the front part with the vents hanging out of the curtain. This may help isolate the heat from the duct to the front area and make the rear area smaller so it is not as large of an area to cool. Good luck sending good vibes your way!

r/Ecoflow_community · Need help finding/replacing EcoFlow Wave 2 fan motor or FU6831Q controller I rarely comment on posts, but I felt I had to on this one. My Wave 2 developed what sounds like the exact same fault last week. In my case it happened immediately after updating the firmware, although I can't say for certain the two are related. I've been in contact with EcoFlow support, and unfortunately they've been unwilling to help me get it repaired. I wasn't asking for a free replacement—I jsut wanted a working unit without being out of pocket. Instead, the only option I was offered was a 5% discount on a brand new unit, which honestly isn't much of a solution. I've invested quite heavily in the EcoFlow ecosystem over the last few years because I've always rated their products. That's why this has been so disappointing. A product like this shouldn't become effectively disposable because a single fan motor fails, especially when customers are actively trying to repair it. To the OP: if you manage to find a supplier for the replacement motor or any more information on the part, I'd really appreciate it if you could update the thread. I'm in exactly the same position.

r/Ecoflow_community · Question. Is Wave 2 better than Wave 3 or something?? This product seems to fit what Im looking for, but the amount of negative posts/comments arent reassuring We actually ran the Wave 3 through a pretty thorough test last summer in a van and awning setup so this is a question I can give you a real answer on. The Wave 3 has more cooling power, 6,100 BTU vs 5,100 on the Wave 2, and pushes significantly more airflow, 330 vs 250 cubic metres per hour. In a van that difference is noticeable on really hot days. The dehumidifier mode is also a genuine addition, not a gimmick, especially in a small space overnight. The battery is the biggest upgrade though. Wave 3 uses LFP chemistry which gives roughly 5x the lifespan of the Wave 2 battery. If you're using it regularly that alone justifies the price difference over time. If you already own a Wave 2 and it's working for your space, the upgrade is hard to justify. If you're buying new, the Wave 3 is the one to go for.

r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow WAVE 3 and Delta Pro I know you can directly connect the Wave 2 to a Delta 2 using the cable that normally connects the extra battery and you can connect a Delta 2 extra battery to the Wave via that proprietary cable which is DC I believe. r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 Any support on replacing temperature sensors? I'm not sure about the wave 3 but before it goes out of warranty I would go ahead and order a pack of those [sensors](https://a.co/d/0d0oCBS8). with any luck it will be the same one and you'll save a couple days waiting on them. If you are handy with a multimeter you can verify the sensor type by setting resistance and looking for the resistance to go opposite of the temperature change. if you are close to warranty expiring with this new unit I would advise taking it apart and checking the wire routing for all the sensors to eliminate any bending. If I remember right the old sensor actually had enough extra to build in a small loop to give room for the compressor to wiggle. Mine was pulled tight so it broke off right at the base of the sensor.

r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow wave 3, good bad? Need reviews Yeah, that's what I thought would be good about it too - all in one. We have a diesel heather and in the winters (think 10,000 ft elevation, -26C) it has been the only thing able to keep us warm in the van. It's about 2k to buy plus 1k to install, and runs off your fuel tank. If you need light heat, my personal favorite is a simple house oil heater (https://amzn.to/4mMAsEe) . If you have enough energy, it's warm, AND quiet. Last winter on ski trips I carried it with me, and whenever on a plug-in site, I would use it instead of the diesel. One thing I haven't tried, but it might work, is installing Wave outside your van. It has option to go in/ or out, and I did the in the van. Maybe if you mount it outside the van and pipe the cool air in, it will work better. Since you can get it for cheap from the friends, might as well try... but it requires putting some rack on the back of your van, and then cutting a hole into the van. I don't want to butcher my van just to try.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Okay I have one of these devices and op says followed the instructions that is not really explaining how the unit was set up. If you don’t use the hoses to exhaust the condenser air this thing doesn’t work at all. Also you need to keep in mind this is designed to cool a tent at best a 10m2 room is 100m square and op doesn’t tell us how high the room is so let’s say it is 10m tall so that is 100m3 room. This is not powerful enough for that space. You need about 11,000 btus. Now EF doesn’t tell you in it’s marketing literature how big the area it is cooling in 5 minutes. However I would venture to say you will start feeling cold air in 5 minutes coming from the unit. It is a small air conditioner it will cool 1 cubic meter 6 deg F in 1 minute. However a 100 sq meter room no way, too small sorry op. You got suckered, you need a lot more cooling capacity than 5,000 Btu. You need at least 10,000 btus if you want 5 minutes your probably closer to 15-20k Btu but that would short cycle and waste a ton of energy. Also the unit works a little better if it is outside the room it is cooling. Anyways the wave2 works well if your cooling or heating load is less than 3,000 btus however 3,000 btus is not much and don’t expect miracles from this unit. You can get up to 5,000 btus if the outside air is not to extreme but I wouldn’t count on it. However op has severely undersized heat pump solution for the area trying to be conditioned.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It I agree with OP. after 3 months of use last year I decided to shelf it and go with a 12v mini split as the Ecowave 2 was loud, a power hog for its power usage, and is horrible with managing water condensation such that I've spilled the lot multiple times or while running while sleeping overflowed a 40-50oz cup across multiple random nights. this thing is horrible with its water self evac. also if the internal water capacity gets high because it doesn't consistently expell through the exhaust, it'll shut off the air conditioning entirely. I've complained to ecoflow that the self expel function needs to keep the water pump on 100% but it doesn't, it cycles and does a horrible job doing so.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 Extra Battery doesn't work with Delta 3 Plus Any updates from u/EcoFlow_Official ? I just bought a Delta 3 Plus with the expectation that it should work based on the info in the manual, but having the same problem.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It >I put that to the test in a room under 10 m² (a small bedroom), and the result was laughable. After five minutes there was no noticeable difference – the space was still hot and uncomfortable. Even after running longer, the unit struggled to make a dent in the room’s temperature. You basically have to sit right in front of the vent to feel any cooling at all . One user reported that even after 5 hours, their well-insulated small room stayed the same temperature – the Wave 2’s feeble cooling simply couldn’t overcome the heat, essentially canceling itself out. Did you have the intake and exhausts hoses hooked up to window, or was it just blowing hot air out the back of the unit into the room? Also, 5 minutes isn't long enough for a normal wall-powered portable a/c to make much of a difference.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) I was going to say that also. One of the canopies over it. That was actually my next step myself. I originally started off with the zero breeze mark 2. With the moving blanket stuff. An it worked. But I’m in south Louisiana. So it’s humid an hot. But I did that with that one I believe like April. No way could I later in the year. But it wasn’t no good until it got a little after 8pm it was able to make it comfortable. Like as far as not muggy sticky feeling or hot. It was just at the border of comfortable an doable. The wave 2 was a lot better. But run time it was more the power hog. But it definitely can be done. Least for me. I’m not sure if it could be done in mid summer. Not even sure ild try. It’s miserable. Hot an humid mid summer. So even if the tent would be cool an dry. Just trying to enjoy the outside would not be enjoyable enough. So I’ll be doing the pop up canopy next also. But what I believe I’ll end up doing. Is looking into the Crux Crua Tents. So you have a tent shell as normal. But it has a whole like quilted insulation that can be put in it. That insulates the floor walls ceiling everything. An I believe has ports for AC hoses to be run out. That’s the only one I found seems like would be just right. Theirs not to many AC insulated tents out there. Theirs AC ready tents with ports out there. But not insulated.
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) Gotta be under a tree where the ground an just surrounding aren’t beat to death by the sun. An if possible. Get some moving blankets and lay a few over the tent. Blocking off any mesh roof venting. An put some holes through the blankets to still be able to put the fly on. So you have some kinda insulation. Unless you buy an insulated tent. It can be done. You just definitely have to work with its limitations
r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 3 (Underperforming Wave 2) Shit mine is lucky if it reads in the 50° anything. The temp sensors aren’t accurate. Testing with a secondary thermometer it does hit mid 50° output. Just don’t read the correct temp. But even then my wave 2 would be putting out in the high 40°’s.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Thanks for the overview of the poor experience from a broader integration standpoint but I'm a lot more curious about how it functions for your actual use case of cooling a mobile home on its 600w and 800w (via AC) modes. I get that this is difficult to accurately quantify, maybe, but... does it produce that amount of cooling? The only reference I have personally is a traditional air conditioning unit that plugs into a wall socket, so it probably draws 1000w or even more but those things can spit out gloriously cool air and keep 200sqft of room comfortable, depending on how well insulated your house is. Is it the case here (giving some margin for being half as "capable" given the 800w limit), or is the thing a complete flop on delivering cooling?
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It I have a question. Now I'm not convinced this unit makes much sense but I wonder if there is a fundamental physics misunderstanding here. Even if the thing is a heat pump, thermodynamically speaking for cooling you can't just have a device that spits out cool air without also spitting out hotter than ambient air... and if you don't direct it at least outside your room, it's surely going to fail to cool. Right? Could this just be operator error since all the marketing photos don't show the use of the ventilation tubes?

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It It sorta works - I've seen the same issues as OP though, plus I've already had one warranty replacement as it stop accepting AC power (an issue other have had) and without that you can't even start it up with DC power if the battery is fully dead. The new one has a different issue where the drainage phase randomly wakes me up with a shrill screaming noise. Driving it from DC is what's been the most disappointing - you cannot do so without the addon battery, no matter how powerful your DC source is (because it's assumed to be unstable solar or insufficient car 10A). So I sprung for the combo with the battery. But then had to get an XT60i cable, since with a standard XT60 cable it assumed my power station's consistent 12V must have been car power and limited itself to 8 amps. I then had to modify the XT60i cable to flip the jumper pin around to get it to assume solar and now it will pull up to 600ish watts... but never more, even though at max, the Wave needs like 800watts. The only way to give it max, without an EF power station specifically, is to plug it in to AC power. Reportedly, that is somehow also more efficient. The 600W limit is fine for a long time on Eco mode, but on anything above that the battery won't last, despite constantly being charged. So even though I have a constant source of unlimited DC power going in, as soon as the addon battery gets low the unit switches to "fan only" mode. It's then stuck there until you switch it back - it will never go back to Cool on its own and you might not notice for a while since you still hear it blowing. So unless you have a whole EF ecosystem already, or want to hook your solar up directly to the Wave and nothing else, you won't be able to sustain all functions on DC alone - just Eco mode. Eco mode doesn't try very hard, I often find it blowing out hot air.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Fair. "What is the alternative" is the reason I got one too. I would amend it to "Stay far away unless money is no object to you". If it seems overdramatic, so was the hype put out by Ecoflow - and I highly doubt they'll see much consequences for it. There are other products that overlap in this offering now - if it doesn't seem like, it's just because those companies are being more truthful about their products. I can kinda understand if they needed to get the thing out the door to see if it will be any good and not wasted the R&D money trying break into a new category... except for the fact that this is Ecoflow were talking about, who charges more than anyone in each category and positions itself as the "Apple" in the industry, including the incompatible proprietary connectors, the planned obsolescence, the marked up accessories, and the support that only lasts until the next shiny thing is out. These Wave issues are not covered under warranty because they're just design flaws, but almost no one can use the return policy because it's stuff that almost always takes more than the first 30 days to figure out. In other words, the consumer is pretty helpless here - there's no accountability for products being like they say. If it fails even the expectations set when it was sold to you - you're just stuck with it. That, more than anything, is what I'd want to "stay far away" from. But a thousand dollars is a lot to me - I can see how it wouldn't matter much for someone that doesn't have to save up and do countless days of research before dropping a grand on something. I'm not saying that's you, but to me, this price range is only for carefully selected products, a few times a year, that have seriously good specs and seriously deliver on them. Instead it feels like this was a Kickstarter campaign.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Yes, yes, and yes. Wish I didn't spring for it, but if it worked like advertised it would have been perfect. I can confirm all these issues, and this doesn't even get into the silly limitations on input power for anyone who doesn't use all-Ecoflow products. The problem with the temp sensor AFAICT is that it senses the Wave's own output! Granted, it's never started off matching a room temp reading either, but as it starts to ramp up on cooling for example you can see the "ambient temp" dropping as the output area plastic absorbs some of the cooling. It eventually causes it to reach setpoint and stop, but then the real temperature of the room catches back up to it and the gauge "realizes" it's suddenly 20F hotter again.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Nope. OP mentioned the test was done according to the instructions - but also, I'm living it myself. There are many suggestions and tips out there for getting better performance out of this thing, we're way past just attaching the tubes. The tubeless photos are a joke - a subtle admission that the thing only looks pretty when it's not fully set up (unless you really want a tiny spot cooler running outdoors, mostly just wasting power). But we bought into this - or at least I did - because it's one of the first DC-powered heat pumps out there that claims to do what it can do, which in my case sounded perfect for my solar-powered mobile living.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It It sounds like you don't have one, and are jumping to Ecoflow's defense by jumping to conclusions about OP's assumptions. I am one of those using it in a vehicle like you mentioned, to cool about 100 sq.ft. My results are similarly poor to the various reports, and none of the tips and tricks can get it quite to spec. You're right that it's not powerful enough, but that's not user error - that's marketing error (and misleading measurement as detailed in another post). Powerful "enough" would be 5100 BTU. I have compared the performance to a 5100BTU standard floor AC in the exact same space, which actually managed to keep it cool under conditions the Wave couldn't (and coincidentally drew about the same wattage). Still, whether you had my vehicle-specific story or not, it doesn't make sense to say "People who use this are using it in cars and tents" (disregarding the way it's been advertised) as some sort of proof that "of course it's not powerful enough" to use it in the advertised constraints (10m\^2). On top of that, you're implying "cars and tents" are automatically less cooling load than a bedroom - which is far from necessarily true, even with less volume. Houses are way more insulated and most vehicle interiors leak way too much heat in with all those windows. And tents are virtually uninsulated - no dice. A bedroom is actually one of the most fair places to test.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It OP mentioned in a comment that the instructions were followed exactly so as to best recreate the advertised results - yes the tubes were directed outside. I've been using it myself this way as well, with tubes insulated, and my results are similar. I want to test having the unit itself outside, or at least the back half (which has been shown to be leaking the most heat), but it's long since clear that the performance issues are never going to be fully mitigated by a more ideal setup.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter The Wave 2 did not have a wall wart, that's just surge protection. Swap it with a normal PC power cable for example, and it still powers fine. If it's converting AC to DC, it must be doing it internally. That said, I've not seen it be more efficient on DC.

r/Ecoflow_community · Is Ecoflow Wave 2 for me No a 6000 btu unit will not cool a whole room with 90+ degrees ambient. It’s a heat pump from what I understand and pretty much all heat pumps become less efficient at either end of extremes. Below freezing they stop heating and above 80-85+ they can’t keep up. Your room is way too big for this unit. With that said it CAN cool part of it. I have a 5,000 btu window until I use for my computer room to supplement my home AC. When blowing directly on me it gets very cold. The room itself only drops a few degrees.

r/AirConditioners · Is the EcoFlow WAVE 2 portable AC unit good? My only real issue with them is the price, they're only 5,000 BTU which isn't a whole heck of a lot of cooling for close to $800 us, a comparable 8,000 BTU portable AC that doesn't have a DC option is going to be about $400... Once you start adding in batteries and solar you can put something together much better for the price. You're also not going to be cooling a whole lot of space with 5,000 BTU, it's less powerful than what I would consider a pretty standard window unit. If you're not set on having the convenient battery and only going to use it on shore / generator power I'd save some money and grab an off the shelf portable AC.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow wave 2 massive condensation issue I’ve seen a lot of condensation as where I live the humidity is always very high. I would say that that is the case of where you are plus it may be higher in the tent versus outside because as we breathe in an enclosed small space we exhaust moisture into the air also. The only other option I can think of is to have a small cover or something to protect it from rain. r/Ecoflow_community any suggestions?
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow wave 2 massive condensation issue Essentially the Wave 2 runs in reverse for heat means no that the exhaust is an air conditioner which is very cold so if you are in a high humidity area it is going to form a lot of condensation on anything cold. Hope this explains the condensation…there a different ways the wave 2 can be set up for tent use and one way would be to have the unit outside the tent with hose adapter on front of unit with hose forcing air into the tent.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It Your comments would be much more helpful if you described how you had the intake and exhaust hoses set up. Many people have issues with these types of units because of a failure to direct the hot exhaust outside of the environment they are trying to cool...(Out a window) Which creates a thermodynamically impossible task, and temperatures will remain the same at best. If you could verify that this is not what happened with you and the hoses were set up correctly and you still had issues, many people would find your feedback more helpful. I've seen too many cases, not just with Eco flow, where people use portable air conditioners incorrectly as stated above.

Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance.... You're assuming the Wave 2 was built with enough overhead to handle the extra load. But most modern consumer electronics are engineered to hit the bare minimum, and there's rarely much headroom. Even something as simple as slightly thicker wiring, better heat dissipation, or improved insulation could be what allows the Wave 3 to run at higher wattage. That doesn't mean the Wave 3 is better. It may just be engineered to a slightly higher bare minimum. Without those changes, trying to push the Wave 2 further could lead to premature failure.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable AC Review: Overhyped, Underperforming, and Not Worth It During hurricane Beryl when we had no power, I ran my wave2 off a generator before I got the battery. I knew it couldn't cool the whole house but I had very little options on placement. Kitchen table, out the window. I needed it up high enough I can drain it easily and man I was draining it often. I finally just pulled the plug and had the rear end hanging off the kitchen table over a bucket. It was at least dehumidifying the house a little. I had it running on a generator along with another portable 1800 btu in the office window. 5 days no power in a large house it was 85 F in July in Texas. It was barely bearable shirtless with fans mid-day. If someone needed some relief they could sit at the kitchen table and cool off or go to the office and sit in front of the other portable if it was running. The office portable kept failing, the button board was near the outlet and was getting condensation on it any time I shut it down to service the generator. It had to dry an hour before I could start it it back up. However the wave2 didn't have any issue like that. It just started back up after I restarted the generator after adding fuel no problem.

I wanted to buy a wave 2, but the price was not realistically economical, as I could do twice the cooling with a 12000btu air-conditioner for $400 and buying a few more solar panels and keep using natural gas for heat.

r/Ecoflow_community · Quick Wave 2 upgrade I have a similar setup. Do you leave both intake and exhaust hoses vented outside the van, for both heat and A/C? Did you add a duct fan - did it work?

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter There's actually no need to tap into the vehicle battery directly. Ford does that for you by providing 110V and 220V outlets that are already safely connected to the vehicle battery. My question on this forum had to do with whether it was worth converting to from the vehicle AC to DC for the EcoFlow Wave 2. But you pointed out that the wall wart already that comes with the Wave 2 already does that conversion. So that answered my question. Thanks.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Not planning to buy a battery since I have the large lightning battery to rely on. I just thought that when I plug-in the wave to the AC outlet in the lightning bed that it was running on AC. But apparently it’s still running on DC because the wall makes the conversion according to what you wrote.
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Since I'll be in some pretty hot places, I may sometimes run the Wave 2 quite a lot. 10 hours x 600W is 6kW. If I'm hanging out somewhere for a few days, that might add up. Plus other electricity uses (especially induction stove). So I'd like to get more efficiency from the Wave 2 if possible. But [kinwcheng](https://www.reddit.com/user/kinwcheng/) says in this thread that the wall wart of the Wave 2 is already an AC to DC converter which implies that the unit always ultimately runs on DC whether plugged into an AC outlet or into a battery. Do you agree?
r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 AC to DC converter Yes 131 kWh battery pack in the Lightning. But I'm planning to go to some pretty remote places and I need to conserve battery so I have some range to get back. So I'm trying to minimize energy use. The Wave 2 is supposed to be more efficient in DC more than in AC. Do you think that this may be due to the AC to DC conversion done by the wall wart? By the way, the AC outlets in the Lightning don't supply 350V. They are just standard 120V. They are intended for use with power tools on work sites.

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 making terrible noise Mine made the same terrible noise. Water pump issue. After much wrangling with customer service, I replaced it under warranty. New unit has run fine now for a year. (Fingers crossed)

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 making terrible noise My Wave 2 started making this terrible noise. It seems to correlate to the water pump. When in drain free mode it makes this noise. If I switch it to external drain it continues to make the noise but after it discharges the water and the pump shuts off the sound stops.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 is dangerously terrible. Return it and pay back the loan . Start again looking for a new solution without that loan hanging over your head and nothing to show for it. Yes, I do recognize that you might not be able to pay the loan info because of interest charges or something similar , but you would still be better off. ( assuming the terms of the loan allow you to pay it off in quick succession)

r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 2 - Error Code 39 It works normally, blowing air/heat, but as mentioned, it shuts off within a minute and shows the error message. the air duct is an optional attachment to help blow air into a specific spot, like into my tent when it worked for the ONE camping trip we used it for. Take a look at the EcoFlow website to see what its capabilities are. Happy to sell it to you, but prefer not to ship. I’m located in Cali.

r/Ecoflow_community · Wave 2 battery-get new or refurbished? Hi. I bought both refurbed from eco themselves. Just a heads up the battery barely lasts 3 hrs and that’s on the most eco settings with screen turn off after 10 secs. Had I known how little time I got out the battery I probably wouldn’t have bought it. That being said when plugged into the house it’s brilliant bit of kit.

r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 It’s the normal household grid in Germany not in a van or something. So it should be running fine
r/Ecoflow_community · Repeated Error 30 EcoFlow Wave 2 The unit itself was always drained via the external drain function. Also not really moved. I only used it via wall plug with both units. Than the error occurred. I let it stand for around 4 hours now and tried it with the xt150 cable connected to a delta max. Same error.
r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow Wave 2 Error 30 Same situation two units in row fault 30 short circuit. Let it run over the AC 230v outlet. I think the AC grid with 230 volt could be a problem. But just a theory waiting for the 3rd unit now. Will test it again and again and again 😄

r/Ecoflow_community · Ecoflow Wave 2 - Question about adapting to a smaller exhaust port in a tent. I would first check Home Depot - go to the bathroom vent area they sell 5" and 6" adapters and pipe. I just installed a Wave 2 in a Renegade RV and used two adapters from Home Depot. Check out my video below it shows the stock hose and the adapter. r/Ecoflow_community · EcoFlow Wave 3 = More watts to obtain higher BTU, but less efficient than the Wave 2? Ask Ecoflow for a firmware update to increase wattage on Wave 2 to match the Wave 3 performance....
