Salut, 8 ans de métier dans le chauffage ventilation climatisation. Les climatisations pour particulier ne sont pas dans mon domaine d expertise mais ca reste proche. Oui tu gagneras des perfs mais surtout du confort au niveau du bruit. Si c est juste pour survivre cet été et sirtout au vue de l état des stocks garde ta clim 3500W. Avec 3500W tu dois pouvoir refroidir ta pièce sans souci même en perdant une partie des performances. Il y a pleins de tuto pour éviter la dépression de ta piece en rajoutant un tuyau pour l'aspiration d air du condenseur. J imagine que tu ne peux pas mettre une clim fixe ? Dans le cas contraire : Clim fixe > portasplit > clim mobile. 40W par m3 / 100W par m2 en moyenne pour etre confortable. Si tu souhaites investir dans une clim fixe ou porta split achète/ fait les travaux en automne / printemps qui sont des périodes plus creuses dans le CVC.

J'ai acheté une clim split mobile Midea la semaine dernière, c'est vraiment super. Au lieu d'avoir un gros tuyau à faire passer par la fenêtre, c'est beaucoup plus petit, donc moins de perte, pas bruyant du tout. J'ai un balcon donc pour moi c'était facile à mettre le module extérieur, mais c'est vendu avec plein de supports. C'était cher par contre, mais 0 regret.

Par contre c'est lourd, et encombrant mais c'est une vraie clim, qui ne créer pas une dépression dans l'appartement en soufflant le même air en boucle C'est plutôt un gros budget, donc si t'es pas dans une région ou tu vas t'en servir au moins 40/50 jours je pense qu'il vaut mieux une clim mobile classique, mais ça rafraîchit moins bien.

Je déconseille une clim monobloc (j'ai une Gree 12000 BTU, 250€) à cause de la mise en pression négative du logement. Les splits pour caravane je connais pas. J'ai acheté une Midea Portasplit 12000 BTU. C'est un bon concept. Pas de pression négative, calfeutrage minimaliste. Kit fenêtre fourni, kit velux en option. J'estime le coût en électricité à 10€ à l'année (20 jours de canicule, 10h de climatisation intermittente, 0,3 kWh de conso en moyenne, 0,17€ du kWh). J'ai installé ça dans une pièce de 38m2 / 98m3. Testé il y a quelques semaines, passage de 22 à 19° avec 28° dehors. Objectif cet été 24° au lieu de 27-28 quand il fait 38-40 dehors (Gironde). Mais c'est un budget à l'achat (payée 750€, hors promo 1000€).

C'est hors de ton budget, mais vraiment le plus efficace ça reste une clim split (type Midea PortaSplit) Ça évite d'aspirer l'air de l'intérieur pour le réchauffer et le recracher à l'extérieur, ce qui fait rentrer de l'air de l'extérieur dans l'appartement.

Euh, d'où tu sors ces chiffres ? L'alim est de 230w, donc 0,23kw/h, le prix de l'élec est à 0,2016 €/kwh. Ça te fait 0,2016×0,23=0,046. On va dire 5 cts d'euros l'heure. Si elle fonctionne 24 h à pleine balle, elle va te coûter 1,13 €/jour.

Bonjour, Il y a peu de temps, lors de ma recherche d'une clim portable, j'ai été confronté à cette même problématique. Impossible de trouver un modèle double tuyau en France, en tout cas à un prix raisonnable. Au final je me suis rabattu sur un modèle Split (mais toujours portable) avec une unité intérieure et une unité extérieure, donc pas de soucis de pression différentielle. Et le tuyau à faire passer par la fenêtre est bien plus fin. Pour ma part, en cumulant des codes promos et du cashback j'ai acheté le Midea PortaSplit (Commercialisé par Optimea en France) pour la ""maudique"" somme de 800€. A première vue, il fonctionne bien, très silencieux car le compresseur est dehors. mais je n'ai pas de retour à long terme à te donner. En revanche c'est un modèle assez connu chez nos amis les allemands ( consultes r/wohnen ) qui semblent en dire globalement du bien dans leurs reviews.

La midea portasplit 12000 btu quand elle sera a nouveau dispo. Elle nous a sauvé nos nuits en abaissant l'appart autour des 24-25deg. Avec ta surface tu pourras descendre beaucoup plus bas. Un bijoux cette clim. Et pas de dépression ce qui la rend très efficace.

Même si tu ne calfeutre pas et que c'est pas idéal, tu auras toujours moi s d'apport d'air extérieur qu'une clim mobile classique car il n'y aura pas de dépression d'air a l'intérieur. Donc l'apport d'air extérieur se fera "naturellement" et donc moins violemment. Mais oui calfeutrer c'est l'idéal pour n'importe quel clim qui requiert une ouverture.

Une seule prise pour l'unité intérieure et je confirme que ce modèle est très bien, j'en ai une depuis deux ans, c'est un bonheur de pouvoir dormir (en plus il y a un mode silencieux pour la nuit qui est très bien)

Si t’as le budget, le top en terme d’efficacité c’est la clim mobile split, le groupe qui fait du bruit peut être mis à l’extérieur et y’a pas de mise en dépression de l’appart. Je m'en passe parce que j'ai la chance de pouvoir refroidir un minimum la nuit et qu'il fait pas non plus 40 degré où j'habites mais je pense prendre un portasplit parce que ca risque d'être de pire en pire ces prochaines années, j'avais une clim mobile une vrai galère, un bruit de dingue une installation pas super efficace ... Bon après le portasplit je crois c'est 900€ mais tu peux l'utiliser pour te chauffer l'hiver.

L’unité extérieure est assez silencieuse honnêtement j’ai jamais relevé et quand je suis à l’extérieur en contrebas je ne l’entends pas. Pour ce qui est de l’évacuation d’eau, c’est justement au niveau de l’unité extérieure que ça se passe, il y a un petit trou sur lequel on branche (facultatif) un tuyau extensible pour diriger l’évacuation d’eau. Donc non c’est pas tout d’un coup c’est au fil de l’utilisation, je saurais pas estimer la quantité car moi ça file le long du mur depuis mon balcon jusqu’en bas mais ça reste raisonnable (c’est pas un torrent)

Je n'ai jamais eu de clim mobile de base mais je me suis suffisamment renseigner pour prendre directe ce modèle. De mon côté je l'ai pas mis sur un bord de fenêtre mais posé sur le balcon donc non visible de l'extérieur. pour ce qui est du bruit c'est inaudible fenêtre fermé. Sinon c'est vraiment silencieux, au niveau max (16 degrés et vent au max) je trouve que c'est plus silencieux que les ventilateur premier prix. donc en gros tu l'entend mais tu peux dormir avec si besoin. Le colis total est très lourd (et assez volumineux) c'est donc mieux d'être deux. Après bon si tu es motivé à monter 3 étages en montant marche par marche, ça devrait le faire tout seul mais tu seras ko arrivé en haut.

J'ai le même souci au bout de 3 jours d'utilisation, la pompe qui se met en route, mais plus rien qui ressort au niveau de l’évacuation externe... bizarre quand même car elle n'a vraiment pas tourné beaucoup... j'ai purgé le bac par le module interne et j'ai tenté d'aspirer avec une seringue depuis la sortie d'évac, je viens de la relancer, si ca recommence je tenterai la technique de Nussfalk...mais le démontage du panneau avant semble un peu tricky quand meme...

Les autres modèles sont bcp moins mis en avant en terme de marketing que le Midea. J'ai reçu hier le modèle Sannover Kedros 2 à 480€ que j'ai trouvé complètement par hasard sur manomano, il est recommandé pour un camping-car ou une petite pièce d'une vingtaine de m² (6700 btu vs 12000 pour le midea) Eh bien franchement c'est pas mal, ça refroidit bien mon salon/cuisine de 24m², mais il n'a fait que 30° max ajd. Il est moins bien conçu par rapport au midea (tuyau de raccordement entre unité exté et inté super court ! et le compresseur est dans l'unité extérieure qui pèse du coup 20 kg, pas évident à mettre sur le rebord d'une fenêtre, heureusement j'ai un grand balcon) On verra bien la semaine prochaine avec la nouvelle vague de chaleur annoncée, mais pour l'instant je trouve que ce petit modèle n'a rien à envier au Midea Portasplit pour un petit appart.

C'est effectivement le jour et la nuit. Je dirais que ça refroidit deux fois plus vite. Avec un Whirlpool 12000 BTU j'en ai eu marre car l'adaptateur pour attacher le tuyau a des picots qui cassent, et Whirlpool ne fabrique plus la pièce... Donc je l'ai revendu et pris le Midea. Déjà on peut fermer le volet sur le tuyau plus facilement puisque bien plus petit (et je comble l'interstice avec des draps). Ensuite comme c'est une vraie clim' split, ça refroidit plus fort plus vite. Par contre pour le bruit assez peu de changement. Le compresseur est dedans (sans doute pour que tu puisses mettre l'unité extérieure sur une fenêtre, ce serait trop lourd sans quoi). Et le ventilateur extérieur sera audible vu que le tuyau est très court (trop court). Autres points à noter : l'unité extérieure rejette beaucoup d'eau de condensation. Ainsi, j'ai rempli une poubelle de 100 litres positionnée sous l'unité extérieure (sur mon balcon) en l'espace de 4 jours durant la canicule. Et enfin, j'ai la chance d'avoir un balcon d'environ 3 m² avec des panneaux de bois occultants, donc personne ne voit l'unité de la rue, et donc la copro peut rien dire. Mais dans un immeuble parisien avec les petits balcons à rambarde, tu peux être sûr que la copro va saouler le locataire qui essaye de se rafraîchir... Perso en plus je range le climatiseur la nuit (trop de bruit). Donc je mets ma chambre à 20° et je range. Le lendemain il fait 27-28° dans la chambre évidemment, mais ça me suffit pour m'endormir et avoir au moins 5-6 h au frais. Je consommerais moins d'électricité si cette immeuble récent avait une isolation extérieure... Mais non, c'est du béton et un peu d'isolation intérieure, lamentable...

Exactement le compresseur est a l interieur tres bien isolé, le condensateur est a l exterieur pour l eau, je pense mais pas sur le refroidissement est liquide pour le compresseur , on voit qu il y a plus de 2 tuyaux ds le gros plat.

J'ai remarqué que lorsque ça se déclenche, de l'eau sort de l'unité extérieur. On dirait que c'est la pompe qui évacue l'eau qui est défectueuse ? Dommage pour un appareil neuf...

Si tu bricoles ta clim pour qu'elle aille chercher l'air du compresseur à l'extérieur dans ce cas le seul avantage de la Midea sera le bruit. Si tu as besoin de la clim tout l'été j'irai sur la midea, de maniere ponctuelle je bricolerais ma tienne. Je pense aussi que les prix baisseront après l'été.

J'ai aussi vu ce modèle et j'hésite à le prendre car ca coûte quand même cher mais ca a l'air vraiment bien (et vu qu'il fera de plus en plus chaud elle peut se rentabiliser vite). J'ai quelques questions à ce sujet: \- Est-ce qu'il fait beaucoup de bruit ? Est-ce que c'est possible de le faire tourner la nuit sans que cela soit trop dérangeant ? \- J'ai une baie vitrée (donc une vitre coulissante) dans mon salon et j'aimerais faire passer le tuyau par là. Est-ce que le kit de calfeutrage pourrait être compatible avec ce type de fenêtre ?

Je viens tout juste de récupérer ma clim Midea PortaSplit chez Casto. Je la déballe tranquillement à la maison, et là, direct je capte un gros défaut sur l'unité intérieure. Le panneau en plastique blanc sur le côté s'est grave déboîté On dirait bien qu'un clip a sauté à l'intérieur ou qu'un composant pousse la coque vers l'extérieur. Franchement aucun problème de "chaleur qui rentre par la fenêtre entrouverte". Un système de calfeutrage avec zips est livré avec cette clim. C'est très efficace. De plus l'année dernière ma clim était déjà en service tout l'été et je n'ai pas eu de mauvaise surprise par la suite, niveau consommation d'électricité 👍. La "jupe" de calfeutrage est adaptable sur une fenêtre carrée de chambre classique par exemple. Mais je pense qu'il y a différents formats pour différentes fenêtres. Je précise que la fenêtre est entrouverte à peine parce que le tuyau d'évacuation est plutôt petit et plat. Ce n'est pas un gros tuyau. Je précise que vous n'aurez pas à "démonter" la jupe de calfeutrage... La mienne est restée installée tout l'hiver ça gêne pas 😊.

Alors non tu ne peux pas le séparer en deux vu que le câble est non amovible étant donné qu'il fait passer du gaz réfrigérant. Donc il faut se taper le carton en entier. Pour le coffre de la voiture bah ça va dépendre de ta voiture. Si tu as un break ou une famillale ça passe. Une citadine plus compliqué. La palette c'est surtout pour le poids car le colis fait dans les 45Kg. Après pour le ranger c'est plutôt bien fait tu oeux empiler le bloc extérieur sur le bloc intérieur et ce dernier est sur roues. Moi j'ai de quoi le ranger mais j'avais prévu l'espace en amont.

Le tuyau est assez fin donc tu peux fermer pas mal, ensuite tu peux toujours calfeutrer. Et le plus important c'est que ça ne crée pas de dépression contrairement au clim mobile donc c'est assez négligeable.

Bonjour, De mon côté j'en suis très satisfait et de la même manière je l'utilise en chauffage pour l'hiver. J'ai simplement quelques soucis : \- L 'unité s'éteint tous les jours à 9h00 sans raison, sans programme. Comme si un programme fantôme éteignait l'unité. Optimea (France) a changé la carte d'affichage (température sur la façade avant) ainsi que la carte de puissance. Ces jours avec les températures très froides, j'ai eu la surprise de retrouver mon rebord de fenêtre ainsi que le fond de l'unité extérieure complètement gelés. La faute au coude d'évacuation qui était pris en glaçon. Pour cela, Optimea n'a pas de solution... j'envisage d'acheter un bac pour condensat couplé à un câble chauffant pour éviter cela (en ayant supprimé également le coude d'évacuation d'origine). Mon voisin du dessous se plaint des condensats qui s'égouttent sur son rebord de fenêtre..... Merci, depuis quelques semaines ma pompe fait du bruit, j'ai eu l'erreur P1 une fois il y a quelques jours, et quand j'ouvre le bouchon du réservoir à l'arrière j'en tire toujours une assiette creuse pleine (300ml ?) même juste après l'avoir entendu pomper. En ce moment il fait trop chaud pour l'éteindre mais je démonterai le capot à l'avant afin de trouver et nettoyer ce filtre ... Petite question: je vois sur les photos du post en allemand qu'il a cassé quelques clips au passage (ou bien il étaient cassés d'origine ?), je ne suis généralement pas doué avec ça, ça c'est déclipsé simplement de ton coté ?

J'ai commencé à faire des recherches pour voir pour en acheter une. De ce que je comprends: Les moins cher sont avec un seul tuyau et vont envoyer dehors l'air chaud par ce tuyau. Problème: ça crée une dépression dans la pièce et l'air doit rentrer d'autre part donc tu te retrouve avec un bon volume d'air chaud de l'extérieur qui rentre. Donc très inefficace. Il existe des modèles avec deux tuyau pour éviter ce problème (l'air utilisé est pompé dehors puis rejeté plus chaud dehors). Mais y a pas beaucoup de ces modèles de dispos en France et c'est plus cher. Et en dernier t'as les clim portables split, qui ont l'air quasi aussi efficace que des clims normales ou une bonne partie du système est dehors (donc moins de bruit à l'intérieur aussi). Mais c'est plus cher. J'ai vu des modèles pour caravanes à 600-700 qui semblent assez bien pour les petites surfaces. Sinon y a la portasplit à 1000 balles qui a l'air très bien noté partout.

Pour l' appareil en soi, je choisirais en fonction de deux critères: l' efficacité (COP ou SCOP, également voir la fameuse étiquette énergétique européenne) et le prix. La marque n' importe peu, car la plupart des climatiseurs sont fabriqués par Gree ou Midea. Pour l' évacuation d' air chaud, c' est le gros point noir des climatiseurs mobiles, car ils aspirent de l' air dans la pièce ou ils se trouvent, pour refroidir le condenseur et finalement sortir cet air par le tuyau qui va vers l' extérieur. Cela crée une dépressurisation dans l' appartement qui s' égalisera par un appel d' air qui viendra forcément de quelque part: fenêtre pas très étanche, grille de porte etc., mais au final ce sera de l' air chaud venant de dehors. L' aspiration d' air chaud de l' extérieur va sérieusement nuire a l' efficacité du climatiseur. Pour remédier à ce problème, soi chercher directement un climatiseur avec deux tuyaux, ou modifier ton climatiseur pour ajouter un deuxième tuyau. Dans ce cas de figure, le "coté chaud" de ton climatiseur aspirerai de l' air extérieur pour refroidir son condenseur et rejeter cet air directement a nouveau vers l' extérieur, sans utiliser de l' air venant de l' intérieur. Si tu as la possibilité, par contre c' est hors budget, essaie de voir si le système Midea Porta-Split serait envisageable. La, seulement le gaz frigorifique circule dans les tuyaux, donc pas de problème de dépressurisation.

its a modern r32 inverter AC, yes it can sip power if you dont ask too much of it, it'll be quieter than any portable and any window ac other than the U and ge profile, but not as quiet as a real mini split, the compressor is on the indoor unit I think, no way to drop below 40db, heck it might be louder than the fancy window units in some scenarios, but probably fine, if you want to cover a big area, ideally you will want to have ceiling fans, no way around that

I bought this ac second hand two month ago (still under warranty) it's working very well , you just need to properly isolate the tube that connect the external unit to the Internal unit, I had two two problems First you need to be carefully at how the large tube is positioned, the cables and wires move freely inside the tube so you may end up twisted or entengled and the ac will struggle to pump condensation water to the external unit Second problem I had is error eh0b (people confuse it with eh06) and the ac stops working, apparently the issue is about the front contrôle panel having wiring issues, I opened the ac and took a look at the front panel there was a connectic that was not sitting properly and there was some residue on the board (I am a heavy smoker but that looked more like flux than smoke residue) I cleaned it with isopropylique alcohol, since then the ac ha been working 24/7 for 3 weeks with no issue

Compressor in the Portasplit is in indoor unit. But yeah the undersized outdoor unit is so loud - you could easily confuse it. The humming/vibration on the indoor unit on low airflow is however very clear - besides the heavy weight - even without disassembly - where the compressor hides.

"Exctremely" is not the word to use. It's in the same ballpark as mini-split, with some heat losses if you don't insulate the window openings well enough. Single unit AC is extremely inefficient, this one is great.

Mine is on my balcony and neighbours one is divided from my balcony by a 10cm concrete divider. In silent mode you cant hear it sitting on his balcony. On a middle-range mode you definitely can hear it but its not loud or annoying in any way, just a woosh air noise more or less. On full blast its annoying if you sit on his balcony. Then again for just cooling my living room the silent mode 20% is just enough, this is with a 2025 model and not with the update outdoor silent mode.

Tried to cool three rooms with this product using using 4 fans to move air around. Air was noticeably hotter in rooms where the unit wasn't present. I'd say 38C outside, 23C in living room where the unit was running, and 30-32 in the two other rooms. Placed thermometers around so I'm pretty confident about numbers. My apartment insulation isn't great though. I'd say this product isn't fit to cool down more than one room during heatwaves. It might work for a couple of room while the external temps aren't extremes, using auxiliary equipment to move air around and good home insulation.

I've had mine since 2024, paid around 1000€ (including shipping and the universal mount), I'd totally buy it again. IMO the biggest advantage of the PortaSplit are the mounting options for the outside unit. I'm using mine with the universal bracket mounted to a Velux roof window, I'm not aware of any other split AC that's designed for that specific use case. I got the 12,000 BTU unit about two weeks ago for my flat and it is absolutely brilliant. Much more efficient than my previous hose based portable as no air is sucked back in to replace expelled air. It has been able to cool my entire two bedroom flat by using a couple of fans to circulate the air. Even when it was 34 degrees the other day it was only 23 in my flat with the unit running continuously. There is a universal bracket you can buy for the outdoor unit which I think is hard to get in the UK but Heiz24 in Germany sell it and it came fairly quickly. This allowed me to hang the unit out my window The compressor is in the indoor unit but It’s almost silent. The acoustic insulation around it is very well thought through. I usually run it at 10% fan speed at night and it’s very quiet

Fair point. I have no personal experience with PortaSplit, so I was going off Midea's own copy and the user manual, both of which claim external compressor. But the 32.5 kg indoor vs 9.9 kg outdoor weight split does back what you're describing, since you can't fit a 3.5 kW rotary plus condenser coil plus fan in 9.9 kg of casing. If the compressor is indoors that would also help explain why real-world SCOP often comes in lower than the on-paper number.

I just made a similar post about this. This morning it was so cold outside that the portasplit was literally like having a jackhammer in my living room. Weirdly enough the sound seems to be coming from the inside unit. Anyways, only fix is to run it below 22-23°

Mine rattled like rusty car. I get the front lid of and glued a damping mat onto the inside and a frabric tape around the air inlet filter at the backside. Now it is much more quiet. In heating mode I've a squeaking noise at the beginning, but that fades away after 2-3 minutes and does not come back as long as it's switched on. Sounds like the compressor needs to build-up pressure in the morning.

Normally you need to add humidity in the winter, not remove it. And while you would get a bit of heat from the latent to sensible transfer that happens in dehumidifiers, most of it would likely be from the mechanical inefficiency of the compressor and the fans. If you really wanted to add heat you'd need to put your evap side outside so you can dump the cold air, but something like that wouldn't be designed for running evap pressures so low. Bad idea.

A reaction written in English! Nice! I already checked the video and his window frame is flat on the inside so he can rest the bracket perfectly fine on it. My window has that "bump", almost like a slope actually. So I'm a bit worried about the little rubber underneath the bracket not resting against the window frame and causing resonation, because it might hover above it, not rest on it. I haven't bought the ac itself and the bracket btw. Temperatures are okay now in the Netherlands and i hope it will stay that way till the end of summer. And it's not something you buy just because, since it's a really expensive product, especially here in the Netherlands. But this is already some research for when I might have to buy it in the future.

Not “little dumb” but completely dumb, my previous AC for hundred bucks from lidl was giving way better auto regulation. Especially if portasplit is in corner or just slightly occluded to form a temperature “bubble” it becomes almost unusable due to internal thermostat claiming 8 or more(!) degrees more than actual room temperature. Anyway, I didn’t find any details about how often the remote transmits the temperature and there also seems to be no confirmation on device or app that this mode is working:( (except of icon of person on remote but that is no confirmation that remote can even reach the unit via IR). Something like using my own SmartHome thermostat instead to regulate portasplit one can only dream about then I’m afraid.

Wrong. I have it and thought it is a great option if setting up 'normal' heat pump is not allowed it still feels like a way around. The inside unit has compressor, fan, electronics and pump to pump the condensation water outside. It is significantly louder than regular AC unit but do a good job at cooling and maintaining set temperature on around 35-40m2 so as described by the producer. It has silent mode for night when it is quite silent but also effect is significantly reduced at that time. At high efficiency it can be loud af, buzz and vibrate a lot but it manage to cool the room down from 34°C to 21 and keep the temp.

All i know is that first gen had a defective filter for the condense water pump. Filter clogged up and caused issues. Midea fixed that in later models. Not sure there are any other differences.

The P1 error is an issue, but I think it's a bit out of proportion to say that an entire batch will have the issue. People rarely post online that their device is working as expected; rather, the opposite happens. You see lots of people posting about having the P1 issue, but there are probably also lots of people who don't post that their device from the same year is working just fine.

How are you getting a split installed for 2k? I’d be surprised if the minimum is not double that. Portasplit for the win for sure. You will be icy cold. It’s bigger and heavier than you think though so make sure you know the dimensions.

Yeah mine arrived on time and honestly it’s really good. Upsides: Delivery was great, the unit was super easy to setup (though I have balcony so didn’t have to faff around with the mount) and it’s more than powerful enough to cool my whole lounge which is open plan and pretty large, very pleased I took the plunge. Downsides: I have lived in places with a proper fixed split system before and by comparison the Portasplit is much louder indoors, but it’s liveable and significantly better than standard portables I have heard before. From what you said it sounds like Joybuy may be out too now - but fingers crossed not and good luck hunting!

That sound is definitely the pump struggling because the filter has developed a biofilm that restricts the water flow. I had the exact same issue after about a year. Eventually, the pump kept running until the infamous P1 error appeared. I opened the front cover and removed the filter to clean it. While I had the fron open, I also poured some hot (not boiling, just hot/warm) water into the water tray to flush out any residue. To improve the pumping performance and prevent water from flowing back, I simply inserted a 6 mm check valve with an opening pressure of >1.0 KP into the tube. Since then, the pump has actually been been running much quieter and way less frequently than when I first bought it a year ago.

I tried to get one in France, but could not. Anyway, the reason why it blows other mobile units out of the water is physical: monobloc need to "replace" the air they expel outside: First, the appartment get depressurized (too much air expelled, not enough enters), which sucks the air from the outside wherever possible (vents, around the doors, OR around your AC pipe). So you are basically exhausting the air you just cooled down to replace it with hot air, which destroys the efficiency, and makes the situation of the other rooms in the appartment worse. It is because you MUST have 2 air circuits: one cool down the frigorific fluid (the hot air that is exhausted), and the other one is cooled down by the frigorific fluid and distributed to the room. The issue with mono bloc simple pipe mobile AC is that both air circuits are drawn from the room: There are only 2 ways around it: \- Have the "refrigerant cooling part" outside, like with fixed splits, OR the porta split \- Have two hoses: one to take air from outside, AND another to exhaust it, hotter. This is covered by another midea unit: the midea duo, BUT it is only available in the US, NOT in Europe (and it is in 115V, not 220). There are also fixed versions of this, like the optimea. All they need are 2 holes pierced through your wall. So in Europe, the portasplit is the only mobile unit that is not terribly inefficient. You can get close to a dual hose efficiency by DIY the attachment of the second hose on the bottom air inlet, BUT it is not always sufficient (when both air intakes are not separated from each other, it becomes worse).

I have the 12k unit, it provided great relief in 36c heat. The only annoying thing is we can't use it upstairs as we can't use any of the brackets due to the way our windows open.

Still seems good - not turned it off once and just set it on auto, 20 degrees and then left it to its own thing and it’s maintained a steady 20. According to the SmartHome app, in 92 hours of use it’s used 21.59 kWh. And I don’t think this app (that was recommended in Midea the instruction booklet) has any subscription model so should hopefully remain free

For side opening windows open the window. Cut 2 identical sheets of plywood wit holes/cutaways for the hose(s), glue wooden blocks inside the outed piece so it does not move around. Make a sandwich held together by bolts. Tighten the bolts from the inside. Use velcro soft side so it does not damage the E ixting outer window frame. Simple, cheap, insulating, more secure than a window, quick to remove.. Works with Portasplit if you cut a section out of the bottom or side for the hose instead of a hole.

Portasplit all the way! Not only it's much more efficient, it's also much quieter, has a built-in inverter which allows you to modulate the power. The app is pretty good, it also has a built-in pump for condensate, and a self cleaning mode. I would never buy anything else than the portasplit. It can cool down my room to 21°C with relatively low power (<400W) while a normal mobile unit was not able to go below 25°C while using 1000W. It has some quiet outdoor mode, eco mode and turbo mode. I can sleep with the quiet mode. Amazing unit!

I've got the Bosch. It's a (very rare) Inverter type, so quieter and more economical than standard ones, but I'd definitely have gone for the Midea Portasplit if it would have worked in my house. Different league.

It isn’t possible to measure anything reliably in the living room because door gets opened and closed so frequently. The bedroom is another story, after may be 3 hours it gets down quite significantly to the point that I do feel cold. I do agree with another poster that the temp reported by the sensor is off by a couple of degrees from the actual temp but this is normal. It is physically impossible for it to sense the temp elsewhere in the room. Overall, I been quite surprised at how well it works, and how it looks relatively nice compared to everything else out there. It does exactly what it is supposed to do extremely well. Even has WiFi and Bluetooth and a relatively decent app.

You can still find portasplit at 1k? Anyway it is best out of the three. Inverter design alone is worth the premium over the other two. I have 11500 whilst it’s one of the quieter one but by no means quiet. TV volume needs to be increased at least.

quite a big room, with a very high heat load. Also only 1 window that opens and very little outdoor space. Even with multiple rooms tho its easier and cheaper to buy a bigger portable AC and a few fans to move air around than buy 2 marginally smaller ones. Especially when room and/or funds are at a premium. And most people have some fans anyways so they can do double duty. Like I get it, technically getting 2 of them is better. But if we go that route, just say technically a minisplit with a indoor unit in every room is even better.

I understand your pov. But what room are you trying to cool with 16 k btu? My advice came from the assumption that you’d want to cool multiple rooms with it. In that case having two units is better. If it’s one gigantic room I agree a larger one is better.

The noise is a factor but with the heat the compressor is not going to make a huge difference. The compressor is wrapped in composite acoustic and thermal insulation and the liquid refrigerant lines carry the bulk of that thermal energy to the outdoor unit to be exhausted. The bigger benefit is not exhausting cold air from the room like a portable would do, and having the entire hot side indoors.

Before I installed a dedicated split AC, I was using this portable split AC, it lowered my room temperature by 2-4 degrees celcius on average, in the heat of the summer it was bearable, but not comfortable. The real split AC unit I'm using right now can cool my room from 30 degrees to 20 degrees no problem. All are 3500W. And this is not considering the extra energy cost, needing to open your window and mosquitoes getting in etc...

Brand doesn't really matter TBH. The Porta-split is sort of appealing and will likely give you better cooling than the others as it's not creating negative pressure indoors. I'd struggle to justify the extra £400 over the Bosch though.

Bought this in UK at the end of May for £800 from appliances direct (heard about the super el nino etc...). It's much better than a single hose portable, and very quiet. It is quieter than the desk fan. The hose is still a little bulky, and the window bracket wouldn't grab my UK windows. Also, the internal unit is quite big. I leave this on 24/7 for my parents as the heat is a bit dangerous for them.

After more than a year of researching portable air conditioners, I can confidently say that the Midea PortaSplit is an absolute game changer. I live in a rental apartment where I'm not allowed to drill holes or install a traditional split system, so finding a good cooling solution wasn't easy. I've promised myself that I'll never suffer through another scorching summer in my room again. I'm genuinely happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend it to anyone living in a rental who can't install a permanent split AC. Every cent was worth it.

I bought one last summer. Was very impressed with the lower noise level compared to a cheap non-split mobile AC I had tried before. And the cooling was nice. Yesterday I started using the Midea again, first time since August last year. Now I notice an annoying vibration coming from the machine that I didn't notice last summer. It feels like a washer on the spin cycle. Maybe it was always like this, and it is just working harder because of higher temperatures currently.

Hi, one year later I can confirm I had the issue multiple of times, was stuck at 200W, and figured out the only thing that solved it for me was to completely unplug the AC for a couple of minutes. Then 2min after plugging and powering it back up it was kicking 1200W as it should.

What do you mean it doesn't work? Like it's still 30C in the other rooms? In my experience often you don't really feel airflow so you think it doesn't work but in reality it very slowly cools the other rooms and prevents heating up during the day.

So these units will be much much quieter by design. A basic portable ac is trying to make lets say 600 m³/h of cold air but it needs to move 3x that air to cool off the machine to do it. Also the box is trying to be small so you get highly disturbed air/loud. This is using a liquid for heat transportation. Which is already much quieter but also you need to move only a tiny volume of liquid to transfer the same heat.

I paid 699e for this, have been using it for about 1 month now. Much quieter than my old Midea MPPT dualhose AC. I have installed it on my balcony, only "problem" i can say for now is that it produces quite much water when its hot and i have no option to connect the drain hose anywhere else than in a bucket wich has to be emptied everyday. In my old apartment i had a tower blower to move the cold air to bedroom but now that i moved its in the same room where i sleep. Planning to install it tomorrow so i have not yet any experience how you can sleep in the same room without earplugs.

I have that and paid 830€ for my unit, so far it’s been great and working well, not noisy, included stand for outside unit is pretty good too. Its heavy and inside unit is pretty big. For that price I think the value is good. Can recommend but reliability remains to be seen.

The issue with any "room" air conditioner, it doesn't matter if it is a mini split or a window unit or a portable unit, is that the natural air movement between rooms is not enough to really cool any area outside of the room the unit is in. Yeah, there is a little cooling but it's usually barely noticeable. You need to have some way to move the air out of the cooler room to the other rooms. Fans for example. But 12k BTU can cool a large space but I would not say it can do multiple rooms.

I bought the 12000 btu model from amazon. it does not drain all of the water out after every single time I use it. I always drain off the excess condensate after every single use seems to be okay so far but I have only had it a couple of weeks. there is a design flaw where if you turn it off not all of the condensate gets pumped out so I think it gets gunky really quickly if not emptied promptly.

Appliances Direct and Aircon direct are the same business, they used to have the 12,000 BTU. version available but it's been sold out for weeks. The 8,000 is now £829. I bought the 12,000 from Aircare Appliances and its the UK version, came from their 'supplier' - was delivered in 3 days. It came with the wall bracket, not the window bracket. I'm not sure if the UK version is better, but I can confirm the unit I bought works great. Personally if your considering the Prem-I-Air for around £900+, id just buy the Midea.

BY THE WAY, in the video, the second deflector is also opened. The one to send the air lower. Other than opening it manually, how or when this opens? There is no mention on the manual on how to operate it. The swing function only runs the simple flap.

Here In Spain close to the sea, my unit usually generate sometimes up to 1 liter per hour, i.e. 31 outside, 26inside, humidity 50-65% average. The lower temperature you set, the more water you have. I drain the water in 6liters mineral water bottles. I disconnected the drain tube from the outside unit, just remove the smaller back cover on the inside unit and you can connect the drain pump output (silicon tube) to the container of your choice. Otherwise, a other solution is to elevate the internal unit and fit below abother container through the drainpipe

Yes, unfortunately there aren’t any indicators in the app, that the remote is working. But the shown Indoor temperature in the app will be replaced with the remote temperature when this mode is activated. That’s one way to guess out it works. I tried it out a few times, the temperature change on the remote takes a maximum of ~10 seconds to be shown in the app. When iSense is activated you see the actual temperature on the remote display. Place it in the airstream and open the app and you should see the temperature changes quickly. What I do to try out if the remote signal reaches the PS is pushing the „LED“ Button a few times when the remote is in place - you should see immediately the leds turn of and on and hear the beep tone.
