Reolink Argus MagiCam

r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review I have tested the MagiCam using a 27000 mAh powerbank to see how long it would last on continuous power. According to the spec on the powerbank its 3.7V which means its 99.9 W hours and just falls under the IATA limit for carry-on devices allowed on planes. Anyway, the MagiCam lasted 158 hours on a single PB charge recording continuously to an onboard sdcard which means usage of approx 0.63 watts. Unfortunately the continuous stream cannot be sent to a NVR or HomeHub but rather only to the cameras sdcard. I'm now using rechargeable LION 1.5V batteries which are rated for 3600 mWh. Regular MiMH rechargeable batteries are 1.2V. After 7 days with an average of 20 minutes usage per day according to the battery stats its still showing 100% set to a working mode of "Smart Power Mode". That's very encouraging for extended usage.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? Whilst it does not support a solar panel, you can run it from rechargeable batteries. I've tried a pair of IKEA LADDA AA 1.2V and LI-ON 1.5V AA rechargeable batteries which have worked ok. Unfortunately you cannot charge them in situ. It can also be run from a USB powerbank which allows continuous operation and that bypasses the internal battery. So strangely enough you can externally power and it will fall back to the internal batteries when the pack runs out of juice. More on that next week.

r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review Great review! I got the MagiCam because it's perfect for our use case. We do a lot of long road trips, and we always take our dog with us. Since we mainly stay in hotels, we wanted to check on our dog when we're not able to take him out for an adventure or to a restaurant. Since it will be powered and connected to our travel router, we'll at least be able to check on him for our peace of mind (though we believe he's usually just sleeping on the bed).

r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? I have two MagiCams inside the house, like them. There aren't many reviews I know of, here's one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBtEft1ZAfU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBtEft1ZAfU)
r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review Thanks much for the review to help others lean about the MagiCam. I have two, like them. They are in my basement but only have them on when I'm away from home overnight.

r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review Cool enough for basic camera. Elementary in appearance and performance. When the USB is plugged in, without base, is becomes awkward to keep in one direction.

r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review Awesome review. Just got a set of these for monitoring the kitties in their hiding spots as well. Definitely not primary security but incredibly versatile. Was also disappointed that the included base was not magnetic itself. I was curious about recording to the NVR as I have it on order and you answered the question. Thanks.

r/reolinkcam · Argus MagiCam review I got them to replace some Blink outdoor cams. Ties in locally to HA was the main reason I switched. I want to be alerted if I got moose around the back sides of the house so I know its safe for the dog. Battery life is gonna be interesting.

r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? I'll be posting a brief one late next week. Even though they've been available for several weeks now, the "official" release date is June 8th, so I was told to wait until then to post a review. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I'll give you a general preview of my review: It's a very versatile and useful little camera, I have two and will probably get more because I can think of many uses for them. However, I would never use them as a primary security camera. I say that about all battery cameras, but this even more so due to the low video quality (only 1024Kbps bit rate) and it's slower than other battery cameras when waking up from sleep. It will be great for lots of little non-security projects, or as a supplement to powered cameras.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? Ah, good catch, I hadn't even noticed that yet.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? >They could have designed it to use two Eneloop batteries It can use rechargeable batteries. I have Eneloops in one of mine in fact. It just can't charge them while in the camera. It can use alkaline, rechargeable NiMh, and lithium. Lithium give the longest performance.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? No, you can't use a solar panel on the Magicam. When you attach a solar panel to a battery camera it doesn't power the camera directly, it's trickle charging the camera's battery. Remember that this runs off of 2 household AA batteries, not a Li-ion battery pack like the rest of their battery cameras do. The Magicam doesn't have the capability to charge AA batteries, which is essentially what the solar panel would be attempting to do.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? I actually removed that piece of rubber from one of mine so that I could use some 3M command strips to stick it to a wall that I didn't want to screw into.

r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? One thing I like , this little cam can record up to 1 min on battery mode, but argus pro 3 with bigger battery and solar backup can only do 30 secs.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? Except for the Atlas range, it seems this is the only Cam supporting 1-minute post-recording. Even the larger-battery Argus series cameras can be only configured for up to 30 secs of post-recording.
r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? What a shame. They could have designed it to use two Eneloop batteries. I've been looking for a removable-battery Reolink camera for a long time.

r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? I bought the kit with the home hub mini. So far I wish I had bought another brand. The first hub was broken (button on front wouldn’t work). After days of back and forth, it was finally replaced by Reolink. Once connected (which takes a lot of patience—sloowwwww!), they have a decent picture…if you can get them to connect. I have the 4 cameras in my MIL home to help watch over her in her advanced age. Connecting to them takes forever. Once connected, they will play sketchy for a few seconds and then just freeze. I have good internet, no interference and a very small apartment. The hub is no further than 20 feet from any camera (3 with direct line of sight to the hub. NOT IMPRESSED! I have been trying different settings (2.4 vs 5g, moving the hub around, etc). Help forums say to change from Clear to Balanced in the app, but I have yet to find this in the 4.60.1.3 build.

r/reolinkcam · Any Reolink Argus MagiCam review? Screwed in. There is a rubber dampener between that gorilla tape doesn’t stick well too, so screwing in is best only option for arm.

Not having Animal detection is a huge CON. Reason I won't be buying this cam.
