Reolink Argus 4 Pro

Reolink Argus 4 Pro, packshot

Merci

No, it won't, the video will be sideways. I've run other cameras of theirs sideways like that and it didn't bother me (I could always rotate it later in a video editor if needed), but never a dual lens camera... that would be quite the tall and narrow view lol.

r/reolinkcam · Argus 4 Pro review and comparisons

Well, if you have no light around then you don't want a CX camera like the Argus 4 Pro. ColorX needs at least a little bit of light to work with. You would instead want a traditional IR camera. Also, do you have access to power? If so, you also wouldn't want to use a battery camera. Not only are they not always watching/recording like a powered camera is, but their detection distance is only about 30ft. So if you have a big yard a battery camera is probably out of the question. How far away is this fence?

No, unless you can find a USB-C splitter that has 1 female end and 2 male ends. And even then I don't know if it would work. I suppose maybe you could splice a wire together if you knew what you were doing.

Yeah, I mean silicone caulk, or any sort of thing like that. I have a tube of stuff called silicone gutter sealant that I've also used. I wouldn't necessarily do it on any camera though, it's just that this A4P is a bad design where the USB port is located. I do also use dielectric grease in the ethernet ports of any POE cameras that are going to be outside.

I do have to say that the single lens cameras seem to be accurate with their vertical FOV specs. It's only the dual lens cameras post-Duo 2 (Duo 3, 3V, A4P) that I think are inaccurate.

r/reolinkcam · Argus 4 Pro review and comparisons

Well, when it comes to battery cameras there really aren't any with a large vertical FOV like there are with the powered cameras. They're all around 50° or so. And it also depends on whether you want to stick with ColorX like the A4P has. I'd suggest using our comparison charts so you can see all the FOV specs at once: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/z6caqk/reolink\_specs\_comparison\_charts/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/z6caqk/reolink_specs_comparison_charts/)

No you cannot. The only battery camera that can record 24/7 is the Altas PT Ultra. They're going to be coming out with POE and wifi CX cameras that are in the same body as the Argus 4, you will probably want to wait for that. You can see them on display at their IFA booth last Fall here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1faky74/ifa\_berlin\_2024\_reolink\_impressions/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1faky74/ifa_berlin_2024_reolink_impressions/) And if you're on Facebook they teased them again at CES last week: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/reolink/posts/1637002700533600/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/reolink/posts/1637002700533600/)

As long as it is sensing motion it should keep recording. I assume you're talking about the post-motion recording time? That's just for once it stops seeing motion it will keep recording for 30 more seconds. If it's still seeing motion the entire time it should keep recording. I can vouch for that for a few minutes at least, but I've never tested it for anywhere near 30 minutes or whatever you're trying to get for your soccer game. Also, the detection distance of battery cameras isn't that far (30ft or so typically), so unless people are going to be that close to the camera the whole time it's not going to keep recording.

r/reolinkcam · Argus 4 Pro review and comparisons

When you do a manual recording like that, it saves it to the phone's storage, not the SD card. Only motion events get saved to the SD card. Doing those two 30 minute tests only dropped the camera's battery by about 10%, which is actually a lot less than I thought it would be. My phone dropped by about 20%, but of course that varies a lot on the phone (mine is a Samsung S24). Anyway, glad I could help, I hope it works out well for ya.

So I got a chance to test this this morning. First though, one thing you'd have to take into account with this is how you'd connect to the camera with your phone, since I'm assuming there won't be wifi at the soccer field for the camera to connect to. The easiest way to do that is to create a hotspot with your phone (if it supports it) and connect the camera to that hotspot. Anyway, on to my testing results... I opened the live feed of the camera, hit record, and let it sit. The phone has to stay on, and the Reolink app has to stay open this whole time. At 20 minutes you get [this popup](https://i.imgur.com/dBPW9zA.png) asking if you want to keep viewing, and you only have 10s to click it. I had assumed that you would just have to do that every 20 minutes, however when it hits 30 minutes it automatically stops recording and disconnects you from the camera. I tested that twice and both times it did it at 30 minutes. So you'd have to take that into account. Honestly, I think you'd get better results (and not have to babysit the recording) if you got one of the Duo models and a powerbank/portable charger big enough to power it for an hour. Or if you can place it close enough to a vehicle, you could just power it from the vehicle. Would still be much cheaper than spending thousands.

    Sans fil / batterie
r/reolinkcam · Argus 4 Pro review and comparisons

You'd want a non-battery camera like one of the Duo models for that. The battery camera won't want to stay on that long, it will keep popping up every couple of minutes asking if you want to stay connected.

Theoretically, that’s possible, but the camera isn’t designed for continuous recording; the battery wouldn’t last long. I haven’t tried how long manual recording is possible. It’s definitely not useful with this camera.

    r/reolinkcam · A Real-World User Review of Reolink Products

Do you mean the Argus 4 Pro? That is supported by the current nvr or home hub models [https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000602543-Comprehensive-Guide-to-Reolink-NVR-Hardware-Versions/](https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000602543-Comprehensive-Guide-to-Reolink-NVR-Hardware-Versions/) Although in my response I only mentioned plug-in wifi cameras rather than battery/solar. The point was that any nvr including the ancient RLN8-410 (H3MB02) support plug-in wifi cameras. Of course a very old nvr may not support a specific camera or all features of some cameras.

r/SecurityCamera · Every "best outdoor security camera" guide I found contradicts the last one. Real owners only, what actually works in 2026

**I went through the same spiral last year so here is what actually stuck for me.** **Arlo Essential XL is solid hardware and image quality is good. the problem is person and vehicle tagging and anything past basic motion alerts sits behind a paid tier. I keep telling myself I could live without it and then it annoyed me again each weeks.** **Reolink Argus 4 Pro is legitimately good. I went other direction mostly because of the multi camera app experience, not because the camera itself was bad.** **What I ended up with is eufy SoloCam S340, running it six months now. the no subscription story holds in real use. Clips lands on about 8GB of internal storage, you can get to them in the app, no plan needed for the basics. HomeBase 3 is optional if you want centralized storage later, you do not need it just to skip a monthly fee. The dual lens help on a driveway, wide for coverage, tighter view for plate level detail. Night vision uses a spotlight for color, IR when it is fully dark.** **But,S340 is event based recording, not 24 hour continuous like a wired NVR setup. different product if you need always on recording.** **It fit me because it is standalone with no hub required, the no sub promise stayed true day to day, and the dual lens solved my driveway layout. Your priorities might weight things differently, still worth a shortlist spot.**

    r/SecurityCamera · Reolink Argus 4 Pro Review - 4K Video | 180º FOV | NO FEES!

I didn't use any backup power. It's kind of hard to say how long solar will last since it will depend on the weather where you live. If you live somewhere sunny like Florida, technically you might be able to keep it topped up all year long. If you like somewhere with lots of overcast days, rainy days or has a Winter season, then you will likely need to top up the battery periodically. Another consideration is that if your home has tons of movement or foot or car traffic that passes by, the camera's motion detection may be triggered constantly and also record constantly, quickly draining the battery. If you want minimal downtime, I'd go with a hard-wired option from Reolink. TP-Link's Tapo cameras are really good value too.

    r/SecurityCamera · Reolink Argus 4 Pro Review - 4K Video | 180º FOV | NO FEES!

Disclaimer: Reolink sent this camera to me as part of a paid collaboration, but didn't influence the review content. If you used the Duo 2 or Duo 3, you'll feel right at home with the Argus 4 Pro. Same great 180º field of view and considering the recording resolution, solar charging is really efficient as well and the solar panel is quite large. Spotlight is decent, but at only 300 lumens, it won't be able to fully illuminate a driveway. I also didn't see an option to set the clip recording length, only to set the post-motion recording duration from between 8 seconds to 30 seconds. Also would have wished if we could insert more than 128GB microSD card, but not a big deal since it's event -based recordings. It's pretty hard to beat this camera when it comes to solar-powered options since it pretty much does the job of two cameras.

I know this is a year later, but looking for help. I just bought two of these camera. One flipped the image and one did not. I did nothing to flip the image. Is there an internal sensor that knows to flip it? Anyone figure out how to manually flip in software? The Reolink support folks were useless.

Mine records motion events to the SD card when not connected to WIFI. However, fast moving animals it's not great with - couldn't get much of a view on a rat. You have to take the camera down and take to WiFi or remove SD card and take to an SD reader to view footage.

Haha I know. I’m thinking the AP4 was not my best option with this closer to 40° view. Detail is great and color is nice, but it’s just too narrow top to bottom. What would you say is the best battery/wifi Reolink cam otherwise? I prefer the turret style in general as those are my PoE cams, not looking for anything too large if possible but definitely open to moving this one and swapping in a better fit that’s wider vertically.

I’m liking several things about the 4 Pro but the vertical field of view is a bummer, it definitely feels way less than the advertised 50°. In my application I would actually benefit a lot from running the 180° vertically. Do you know if the camera will adjust and show correctly flipped vertically like that?

I reached out to reolink to try resolve the issues, but unfortunately they couldn't really help, their suggestions were reset the camera and try it in another place with consistent lighting, works fine when the lighting is consistent but whose going to use a panoramic camera in a space like that? I ended up getting great consistency across the feed by turning off the auto colour night view settings and changing the values, but then when I back out of settings and swipe to another camera, then back again, the settings change themselves and the image is blown out/too dark again. Very inconsistent, needs some good software reworking.

It only needs to last 1 hour which I’m sure it is very capable of doing. But a small powerbank should be able to help if it is needed. Someone did say to me that manual record will only do 8min and 18 seconds. From all other options I have seen this is still the most viable and the best part is there is no fees. I’m actually considering buying it and testing the motion detection on a full game and live recording 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 it catches at least 95% of the game

Firstly I just wanna say mblaser thankyou so much for testing this for me. That’s actually a really really good result. In terms of wifi I actually have a little Netgear nighthawk which I can use as a local hotspot when ever I am traveling around from place to place. Did you happen to notice if the recorded clip after 30min saved to your phone or to the SD Card? The games only have x2 20min halves at the moment so 30min is more than enough and I’m sure a timer or alarm can help with the reminders. It sounds like the biggest problem is going to be power, keeping your phone charged to have the screen on the whole time. An extra iPad or a power bank should be fine for this and the camera should have a sufficient battery that it will last for one hour. In the event that you forget to charge it then you can always use a power bank to top it up also. I have looked at other sports cameras and Gimbals, even purchasing the AI tracking type but they just don’t work 100% of the time and you always miss things. The ones that do work like the VEO cost thousands upfront and then a subscription so for the average dad it’s not a viable option. By all accounts this seem like it will work and sounds very promising. Thank you so much again for you help in testing this for me, now I need to make the decision to purchase one and risk the firmware hasn’t been updated or the programming changed. I think Riolink is missing a big opportunity here to open up to a larger market with this camera, they already have a Timelapse feature on the camera so a “Sports mode recording” feature isn’t to far of a stretch to add into the software. Maybe they might read some of my messages and consider putting it into the camera 😂

r/SecurityCamera · Security camera needed for my small house under 1k AUD please
