xamomaxr/homeautomation · Why do robot vacuums still need so much hands-on effort? (Expectation vs. Reality) →2026-04-29
Yea, getting lost and stuck is my #1 frustration. I wish the reviewers would focus more on this, as well as testing them with a bit of wear on them and with slightly dirty sensors and a little bit of hair in the brushes. Make an obstacle coarse and run them constantly, and let us know which ones excel. I have 5 robots and have owned many from various brands since the very first Roomba. They all clean good enough, but they also require a lot of babysitting unless your house, carpets, and furniture are absolutely perfect. I literally designed my house with robots in mind, and they still get lost and stuck. I am presently running 5 of them, though, so I really notice it. Overall, though, they generally do a good enough job that I am glad I have them, but when it is time to upgrade, "not getting lost or stuck" is the absolute number one thing I will look for, by far. Also, I would not consider anything without a self service bin. Then, cleaning abilities as a distant 3rd.

Narrow-Addition1428r/RobotVacuums · Want to m*rder my Roborock. Please give me recs. →2026-01-18
I bought an expensive model, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, for 1300 EUR at the time, a bit over 3 years ago. Wasn't worth it at all. I had to permanently disable the mopping after a few months because the base station becomes impossibly filthy, despite using cleaning solution. The design was just fundamentally flawed, with the dock not drying and no hot water cleaning feature. The robot supposedly has dual cameras with AI, but if you think that would prevent it from getting stuck or even pushing over large plant pots, you'd be mistaken. On top of all that, the map tends to deteriorate after some months, and the Backup / Restore feature is useless since it just overwrites your backup with a newer, broken version at some point. Perhaps nowadays spending more money on a robot vaccum makes more sense. I ordered a Dreame L40 Ultra AE, in the hopes that I can actually use the mopping now. I paid only 450 EUR.

hey I appreciate what you guys do! I also wanted to say that beyond what you test for in terms of the vacuums performance and such my next highest and immovable criteria from the manufacturer is HomeAssistant support. After years of somewhat seamless HA integration with my roborock's or roomba's I consider it to be sacrosanct and non-negotiable. After the initial setup I basically never open the manufacturers app again, sometimes uninstalling it completely. Hope you would consider making that a criteria in your reviews. I'm happy to assist your efforts in that regard if you are interested!

Gtfxxxr/RobotVacuums · Pet owners, which robot vacuum is better? →2026-03-10
We have a Labrador that constantly sheds, like after 2 days of not vacuuming, we end up with fur up on the floor against all walls of the house. After quite a bit of research, ended up getting the Roborock Max Ultra S7, it lasted about 6 or 7 months and then it just died. After that, I have to admit, it kinda tainted Roborock for me. Luckily, it was under warranty, so I returned it. Did a bit more research and decided to give Dreame a go, and got the L20 Ultra at the start of June 2024, and I freaking love it and it’s still going strong. App is better than Roborock, keeps the house clean. I send it out over night on alternate days and the house is pretty spotless. Recommended it to my father in law, they have two labradors who constantly shed and they love it. Things to note both our houses are tiled, with minimal carpets/rugs. It does a decent job at vacuuming and mopping. We don’t usually have cables or have clutter or small items for it to get stuck on. It tends to only get stuck when the misses forgets to put her ankle socks away, it just chews them and it gets stuck. I wouldn’t get the Shark, when I was researching it, it wasn’t in my top list of robo vacs, I don’t remember the specifics, but I remember it wasn’t even a contender. Now, for Roborock, based on my experience, I wasn’t that impressed, and it didn’t live that long, and I was super disappointed with the app. There is no doubt if our robot vacuum dies, I will do a bit more research - but I’m pretty sure I’ll end up with another Dreame, just again based on my experience and its performance. And the fact that our dog just sheds. Hope this helps.

HolyDuckForFoxSaker/Roborock · Share Your Real Reviews & Expectations — Win a Saros 20! ✨ →2026-03-18
I currently own the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. It has been one of the best purchases I have made for my home, but with some limitations and issues I am hoping will be solved with the newer technology available with robot vacuums, including the Roborock Saros 20. I experienced a severe brain and bodily injury and was not able to keep up with cleaning my home. I also have a very sweet dog , but she sheds so much I had pet hair tumbleweeds all over my floor constantly and my allergies suffered too. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has truly been so helpful in keeping my floors clean and I have been so grateful to own one. It may have not picked up every single hair or piece of debris, but my floors are consistently way cleaner than what they would be otherwise. I would hope with the Roborock Saros 20, that the suction power would make it even cleaner where I don't really notice anything on the floor after and that my allergies could improve even more. I also have needed to clean corners, under toe kicks, under my bed, under my couch, near curtains, etc. because the S7 MaxV Ultra can not reach everything and I hope that has improved. I have also experienced needing to rescue the vacuum often which is sometimes difficult for me physically. I have had it get trapped under my bed and get lost where it can't get out multiple times which has been exhausting for me. The obstacle detection has worked for the most part especially with things like dog toys and shoes, but it hs struggled some with eating cables. I am hoping the obstacle detection has improved to where I wouldn't have to move anything out of the way before the Roborock cleans. Lately my S7 has also had an issue with mapping and it has been a task to try to fix and remap. I have also had to deal with cleaning/maintaining/rescuing the robot more often that I would like, such as when hair gets caught in the brushes which is a few times a week. It is pretty difficult for me physically to have to pick it up, turn it over, and perform maintenance. I also consistently experience hair or other debris getting caught between the vacuum and bag where the robot can't empty itself. I understood this would be necessary maintenance with the S7 MaxV Ultra and some maintenance is required on all robot vacuums, but I am hoping things have improved with the Saros 20 to where I would not have to clean it as often. It is very difficult on me physically and mentally to keep up this maintenance so it would be extremely helpful to me if the Saros 20 has eliminated this issue while still picking up all the hair and debris in my home. I get exhausted easily and while I have loved my S7 MaxV Ultra, I wish it required a little less maintenance/cleaning/rescuing from me so I could save some of the little energy I have to do other things in life- like play with my dog. :)

Shellzjr/Roborock · Saros 10R 24 Hour Review →2025-02-15
I completely agree that the new robots are not perfect. They cannot replace a stick vacuum. My 7 year-old Dyson V8 still does a far better job in one quick pass than my Dreame L40 on criss-cross deep clean with tricut brush. My first Dreame L40 was a dud, but Dreame replaced it in one week after they saw my review on Amazon. Hopefully it keeps running! It does pick up about 85% of my corgi’s fur on medium pile carpet. The Mova P10 Pro Ultra I have seems about the same. The $900 Dreame L40 and $700 Mova P10 Pro Ultra are much better than my S7 MaxV Ultra, but still not a replacement for the old Dyson V8. And I think these “20,000+ pascal” suction numbers are just vaporware marketing. I don’t think these flagship bots (Dreame X50, Roborock Saros, etc) are worth $1200 - $1600. The step down models are the much better value.

prerun_12r/RobotVacuums · Narwal Freo Z Ultra vs Eufy S1 Pro Omni vs Roborock Qrevo Curv →2024-11-10
u/Then_Constant5435 Considering the Qrevo curv mostly for the duo divide roller design. I really don't want hair/fur tangles anymore. Having said that, I also want good dustbin emptying capabilities and my current Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra seems to be a huge let down there. With pet fur, the dustbin doesn't automatically empty itself. What has your experience been with the Qrevo curv?

SamuelMKLr/RobotVacuums · Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni or Roborock QRevo MaxV →2024-05-22
I used both ecovacs and roborock before. Evovacs was n8 pro and roborock was s7 maxv ultra. Ecovacs nvr give me issues on the navigation but roborock is eating my cables at every chances. I found ecovacs navigation better than roborock

BriefReserve888r/RobotVacuums · Roomba j9+ combo anyone →2023-10-06
Had it for 2 days.. first day simply mapped the house. Today took 5 hours 40 min to do 700 sq/ft….multiple stops to recharge. So far not impressed and will probably return it. I’ll see if it will get better while it learns the house. I used to have the Roborock s7maxvultra. Navigation was another level however homebase flooded and ruined my new floor after 1 year even if properly maintained so yes there is always that quality issue and worry in there with “self cleaning” bases. Hope in the next few days the j9+combo will speed things up.
