  I find it worrying how many shortcomings still need to be fixed (assuming it’s even possible) just a few days before the release. And to think the launch was initially planned for October it would have been a disaster considering where the product still is three months later. I regret the brand’s lack of transparency: announcing a « logistical issue » to justify the delay when it’s clearly not ready. They would have been better off sticking to a spring release, as they had announced on the UK website. Personally, I’m no longer really sure I want to buy it.

  You’re welcome ! I really do believe it has the potential to be a fantastic machine with some more firmware refinement. In fact, I just received a firmware update this morning that I will be doing further testing on. Also, there’s a final launch version firmware that will be released before the S2 starts shipping.

  I wonder if you have a faulty unit. I had the original S2 prior to the recall and didn’t have any of the issues you describe. For me, the edge cleaning wasn’t particularly great, but otherwise, things like object avoidance worked well. I’ve just received the replacement unit today so will test it out, send hopefully have an improved experience.

  The auto-empty dock on the eufy S2 is what makes daily runs feel realistic for a busy schedule. Vacuuming and a light mop while you’re at work means the floors never really hit that “ugh, I need to clean” stage

  I currently have three of the four and did briefly own the Aqua 10 before it began leaking. The Eufy S2 and Ecovacs X12 both have serious firmware issues right now. The S2 doesn't like to extend its mop roller and also doesn't identify pet waste or liquid spills as shown in the marketing. Its lowlight performance is poor and mine tends bump into walls and door frames in low light. There's no mop only mode and it will suck anything liquid up into its main brush. I also find the transforming noise of the wheels highly annoying and it's not even on sale as $1300 is its typical price. The only saving grace of the S2 is the cyclone vacuum. It does do better on carpet than most combo units and the filter does stay clean months later. The X12 is a good value, but there are serious navigation issues and I've had it move its base station on the map into other rooms causing lots of directional issues. I'm still reviewing it, but it's a no go for me. The T90 is an excellent value and I don't currently have any issues with it other than it does have a very small filter and dust bin as you mentioned. Dollar for value, it's the best mop roller out there. The Roborock Curv 2 Flow is my current favorite roller, with the MOVA Z60 as a very distant runner-up.

  There’s no mop only mode. Unfortunately that is something everyone is hoping to see added. I know they added it to the E25/28 so there’s hope but I don’t know if the S2 will ever have it. Right now it’s a vac/mop mode or vacuum mode essentially.

  Not sure it’s truly ‘set-and-forget’—you still have to clear toys and cables off the floor or it gets stuck, but the auto-empty part of the eufy S2 is surprisingly handy, so I don’t dread daily runs.

  In theory, the eufy S2 sounds like it should be zero effort, but my place still needs a little prep and supervision or it ends up parking itself someplace weird, so I’m kind of impressed but also a bit annoyed sometimes.

  My only problem i have with mine: the S2 blows air out to the side, so the pet hair gets blown around instead of being vacuumed up.

  Check out my Part 2 of 2 here and you can see my thoughts on edge cleaning. Eufy is still working on edge cleaning and it is getting better with each update. A firmware update was sent out this morning and from what I've seen so far the edge cleaning is improved over the previous firmware.
