r/homeautomation · Why do robot vacuums still need so much hands-on effort? (Expectation vs. Reality) →2026-04-29

You bought the wrong model. I have a roborock S7+ and eufy S1 Pro. They occasionally get stuck but 9 out of 10 times run just fine. I probably have an intervention once a week or once every other week. You do need to do some minimal amount of picking up after yourself, tissues or paper towels always cause issues.

You’re welcome ! I really do believe it has the potential to be a fantastic machine with some more firmware refinement. In fact, I just received a firmware update this morning that I will be doing further testing on. Also, there’s a final launch version firmware that will be released before the S2 starts shipping.

    r/NARWAL · How‘s Narwal Freo Z Ultra mopping performance? →2024-10-18

Check out Jamie Andrew's (not sponsored reviews) on YouTube. The freo z does well mopping, the eufy is probably better at mopping overall due to its roller system. They are both effective at removing stains in his test and the Freo Z did it in once pass instead of 2. I have a Freo Z and I like it so far. It's obstacle avoidance is incredible compared to the x40 and qrevo master I tried. The only mopping downside I see is it does not have an onboard water tank so it needs to return to wash it's pads regularly, but overall it's excellent.

r/RobotVacuums · Eufy S1 Pro at 1200€ vs X10 Pro Omni at 600€. Is the S1 twice the robot? →2024-07-08

Just got the S1 pro. I have 1 dog (that loses a lot of hair), 1 cat and 1 child. Got it mostly for the mopping capabilities and it did not disappoint. I have no carpets so this machine is perfect for me. After watching many reviews on the S1 pro, the main complaint was that it did not do well on carpets. The mopping is really good and the mapping is fast and accurate. Remember that the S1 cleans the roller mop at the same time that it runs, so it’s not cleaning your home with a dirty pad. Hope this helps. EDIT: the obstacle avoidance is also really good.

    r/RobotVacuums · Are YouTube reviews misleading? →2025-03-26

95% of them are sponsored, so take that as you may. But the Narwal Freo Z is great at mopping as it can apply quite a bit of pressure for tile and returns to its base to wet/clean its mop pads often. It doesn’t just spin around dirty mop pads and rewet them. However, It uses a ton of water, even on its lighter settings and has poor edge mopping. Not great, but not the worst on carpet if you turn the settings all the way up. I find their cleaning algorithm annoying, but their AI avoidance is at the top. The Eufy S1 Pro is excellent at mopping (maybe the best!), terrible at carpet and lacks edge cleaning also. It’s a tank though with a nice app. I’m waiting on Roborock to do a roller. I like their app the best, but I just don’t care for rotating mop pads. I’ve been happy with my S8 Max V.

Eufy S1 Pro is phenomenal. Went from an S7 to the Eufy and the Eufy pulled up black water. It's in an entirely different league compared to the others from a mopping perspective. Is middle of the road from a vacuuming perspective.

You have the perfect use case for it. It's possibly the best robot for people with only hardfloors. Eufy typically does worse than Roborock and Dreame when it comes to vacuum performance so you will find the mop roller filter will catch a lot of debris with the S1, but the constantly cleaning mop design of the s1 prevents scratching unlike spinning mop designs.

May I add another missing feature? If you have floors dirty with fur Eufy recommends to vacuum before mopping. This is really essential as otherwise the mopping roller will pick up the dirt and starts to get messy. But there is no feature like „vacuum before mopping“ in the app available. Roborock has this feature.

Hello Thanks for the great summary, and I completely agree with you. I don’t understand how they could release such a good product with so many obvious issues. There’s probably a financial reason behind it. For your information, I experienced the dirty water drops issue and contacted support. They sent me a redesigned version of the dirty water tank, which has slightly improved the problem (fewer dirty water drops), but the issue still persists. I’m not sure if they’ll eventually come up with a permanent solution to fully resolve it. Here is the the photo of the new dirty water tank <image>

Hey Eufy community, We wanted to share a quick summary of our detailed review of the new Eufy S1 Pro Omni robot vacuum. Here's what we found after testing it thoroughly: Key Features: Design: Sleek and modern with a unique mopping system and top-notch obstacle avoidance. Cost: Although it's Eufy's most expensive model, it's cheaper than other flagship robots. Mopping System: Roller mopping system with 1 kg downward pressure. Cleans roller with water jets, stores dirty water onboard. Handles dried-on and large wet stains without streaking. Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance: Internal LIDAR sensor for a low profile. Exceptional navigation and coverage. Active binocular infrared imaging for obstacle avoidance. Perfect score in obstacle avoidance tests. UniClean Station: Empties dustbin, washes and dries mop pad, refills clean water tank. Ozone generator removes bacteria. Convenient LCD touch controls. Performance: Above average suction and airflow. Efficient at picking up fine to extra-large debris on hard floors and carpets. App Experience: Advanced mapping features like virtual barriers. Lacks some features found in other high-end robot vacuum apps. Drawbacks: Less effective on carpets, struggles with embedded debris. Occasionally gets stuck on longer pile carpets and rugs. Conclusion: The Eufy S1 Pro Omni is excellent for hard floors with great mopping, obstacle avoidance, and navigation. The ergonomic base station almost fully automates floor cleaning. However, it may not be the best choice for homes with mostly carpets. Vacuum Wars website review

I had the Ecovac T50 max and after about a month the base started leaking and ruined the hardwood under it. Not sure if it was a faulty seal or what. The spin mops got really nasty too and it wasn’t that great at vacuuming. I returned it and went with the Eufy S1 pro. I’ve only had it a week but it is a beast so far. The mop is unbelievable. So much better. There are a few less features than the Ecovac (like no camera) but it just feels like a better product all around. It’s premium and if it matters, it looks cool lol. So far, about a week in, I definitely recommend.

I have LVT flooring with a fake wood natural grain that cloves to collect dirt throughout my whole ground floor, and I recently bought the Eufy S1 Pro and have been thoroughly impressed. I just plugged it in; it auto-mapped the house and went. I only touch it to put in extra water. I have a baby and multiple dogs, so my floors get muddy and cluttered. It cleans and handles this very well. You can configure vacuum power (more power is louder) and how much water to use when mopping. It does well on my rugs, but I'm not sure how great it would be on long pile carpet; however, my need was hard floors, which is very good at cleaning, and its object avoidance and navigation are fantastic too. It genuinely impressed me how well it navigates around the house, driving around objects like a human. *edit grammar and typos

r/RobotVacuums · Sneak Peek: Vacuum Wars Review of the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni →2025-03-23

I have a Eufy S1 Pro. It requires vacuuming while mopping, which I think is intended to help with this problem. Also, there's a mesh screen in the onboard dirty water tank that collects debris and keeps it out of the tank, which you have to clean. I do mine weekly, which seems to be enough. Edge support with roller mops is hit-or-miss. Mine doesn't have an extending roller, so I get about a half-inch of unmopped floor around the walls which I have to manually mop occasionally when I notice it getting dirty. So far, the ones with extending rollers seem to improve on the situation, but still miss things. The spinning pad robots are clearly ahead in this area for the moment. It's important to recognize that rollers are better, but not perfect. They handle tougher stains and messes, but aren't all-powerful. I still soak up excess liquid from messes before sending the robot out, and I have it mop a much larger area than just the mess, and set it to run 2X. This gives the self-cleaning system time to really get the roller clean by the second pass, and the results are spectacular when I do that.

Already having the Eufy L60 SES for our Upstairs, carpet only area, I was looking into buying something for our downstairs and looking at the S1 Omni Pro due to it's mopping and also as we were already in the ecosystem, but it's lacklustre carpet cleaning and it's inability to do vac or mop only were a big no for me, being that half my house is carpet while the other half are tiles (And having 3 cats + 1 dog), so we opted for the X8 Pro Omni instead and I have been VERY happy with it. Our floors are always clean and the extendable mop means the corners and our skirting is cleaned too. I believe we have made the right choice. In saying that, if somebody had all hardwood floors and no carpet, I would likely recommend the Eufy over the Ecovacs as the carpet features aren't an issue in those households.

Almost the same boat as you. I have at-least 1000 sq ft of laminate floor and 400 sq ft of carpeted area. I am/was stuck between Eufy Omni S1 Pro and Narwal Freo Z Ultra. Frankly, both vacuuming and moping are important, so it's a difficult decision. Here is how I am doing it: - Ordered the Omni S1 Pro from Amazon. Delivery tomorrow. - Will order Narwal Freo Z from Costco when it is in stock. Since I have already Omni S1 Pro, I will be able to evaluate its performance for 2-3 weeks and figure out - If its mopping is really as good as they say it is. - How much headache is the routine maintenance. - Can I live with the "sub-par" vacuuming? - How much does the non-edge cleaning bother me? - Assuming that Narwal Freo Z becomes available, I will be able to order that too and compare them side by side. My preference will be strongly for Eufy S1 Pro. Because - Mopping is something that I do not do regularly. Vacuuming manually, I can easily do once a week, in adding to the robot too. Automating mopping will really help. - I already have an old iRobot that I will still reuse for vacuuming. I will just do multiple runs in the carpeted area with that. - If Eufy S1 Pro, lives up to its mopping performance hype, but fails in the vacuuming department, I will keep it and buy a refurbished Roborack Q5 Max Plus. If this setup works for 3 years, I will consider it money well-spent.

The S1 pro cleans my main floor everyday at 1am, never needed to remove clutter, it never gets stuck, floors are always squeaky clean and carpets are well vacuumed (carpets are 10% of my floor, rest is hardwood and tile). I just bought and began using the S1 Pro a couple weeks ago and it has been really good. My home has hardwood and tile with rugs. The S1 does a great job of sweeping/vacuuming and mopping. It is very fast & efficient at navigating compared to the Neato robot vacuums I had in the past. The obstacle avoidance seems to work well and it cleans itself on the base after each run which is awesome. I have been reading about the maintenance requirements and it seems more involved than other robot vacuums; However the app tells you when each service is due and there are replacement parts for everything available. The Eufy Clean app functions well but lacks some sophisticated controls of other robot vacuums. So far I am very happy with how the S1 Pro performs.

We have a shedding dog with medium hair and a boatload of tile and some area rugs. The Eufy - albeit our first machine - has been a game changer. I like its software very much but I’d change a few small things, and it mops like a champ. The station holds water and refills the roaming unit when needed and holds the dirty water - so it operates with little input from us except to change the two water vessels. And that it cleans its mop as it goes is great. With so much ground to cover it returns to the base to empty / refill or charge as needed. The vacuuming levels are from quiet to strong and it transitions from tile to rug very well. It could be better in corners. That’s the only knock. It dries its mop very well and uses very little cleaning fluid while doing a great job. I’m not keen on using chemicals when naturals will do so I’ll be experimenting with vinegar etc when the provided fluid runs out, but it keeps on lasting… sigh. I think the Eufy is doing a great job.

Another problem is definitely with the carpets. I should say two problems: 1. I have only one large carpet in the living room and what I discovered is that it can’t really recognize the carpet outline with enough accuracy. It won’t adjust its path to side mop the carpet but instead it stands half on the carpet and half outside it, with the mop lifted up. 2. If you remove the carpet after the first mapping and you start a new clean/mop cycle, it won’t recognize that the carpet is no longer there. Once it approaches the area where there was the carpet, it will lift the mop up. My expectation/requirement: I would like the robot to just vacuum the carpet and mop the outline of the carpet (outside, of course). Acceptable solution 1: the app should allow me to create manually a room where the carpet stands, so that I can program the vacuum in that room and mopping outside of tha room. Acceptable solution 2: when a new clean cycle starts, it should update the map. If the carpet is removed, then it should definitely mop

r/RobotVacuums · Eufy S1 Pro at 1200€ vs X10 Pro Omni at 600€. Is the S1 twice the robot? →2024-07-08

I am an S1 owner, and unfortunately I have had a mixed (to put it nicely) experience. The floor the S1 is cleaning on is about 50/50 carpet to hardwood. I will say the mopping alone is borderline fantastic. In fact, all I use the robot for is mopping hardwoods. Mine has some issues and won't even go on the carpet without it just shutting down. Full disclosure I had repeated side brush errors so after contacting Eufy support, they pushed me several firmware updates that are not available to the public. Each one made it worse on carpet to the point if it goes on it, it dies. The mopping navigation got better though, so there's that (likely included in my firmware updates were the general pushes to the public that everyone is on, which is currently v.43). I'd say it's pretty universal among even the biggest fans (and cheers to them, glad it works great, seriously!), the vacuuming on carpet is lacking, and inferior to many other bots out there that are even a couple years older. Since I have a unique circumstance in that mine won't vacuum carpet, I have been tag teaming the floor with a Shark Matrix which does a wonderful job. Frankly, even when the S1 initially would go on carpet for me, the Shark appeared to do a much better job anyways, so I was leaning towards continuing to run the two bots anyways (while secretly hoping they'd improve the S1 with firmware and then I could just run the one). The mopping though absolutely feels like a game changer. Personally, I cannot recommend the robot without stating all those caveats. Seems you have a lot of hardwood and tile, so probably works good for you... but if you're not pressed, might be worth waiting for them to tighten up the S1 a bit or even wait for the inevitable S2. There's more than a handful of us initial S1 owners that feel like we are nothing more than beta testers. It's wild the robot made it out with all the problems that have been reported. I would say support (on the discord) seems to be working hard to resolve them, but some of us like me are kind of getting left behind with no real hope in sight of getting things fixed.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I have been using the S1 for several months and am overall pleased with it, but carpet cleaning in my opinion has been a bit underwhelming. Higher suction, of course, would be a welcome addition, and I'm hopeful the duo brush in the S2 as well equates to a bit more agitation of my low pile carpet to get deeper down results. One item of note that I would VERY much like to see with this device is the ability for voice command (in my case Alexa) to 'order' the S2 to clean a particular room 'on the fly.' I enjoyed that ability on my previous Neato vac, and it beats hauling out the phone and navigating the map by a mile. Please let the company know this is a highly desired option.

r/Roborock · Roborock Saros 10R and Eufy Omni e28 one week review →2025-11-10

Would love some advice, please! I have all hard wood floors and 2 big sled dogs (no carpet at all and tile in the bathrooms). That translates to lots of hair and lots of muddy paw prints. I have a 3 story home and have a restored Roborock S7 Robot Vacuum and Mop on the third floor (less travled by dogs), and another one on the second floor with a cleaning station. The first floor I decided to try the eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro because i need much better mopping than I was getting from the roborocs. Overall, I am content with the eufy, however the maintenance is getting expensive and can be kind of a pain, and the dirty water tank can really smell (yes, I do use the cleaning solution). I do find that the mopping is much better than I ever got with S7. The battery is dying in one of my s7's, so I am thinking of getting a new battery and then passing this down to my sister, as she does not have one. I am looking at the Saros 10R as a replacement. I definitely need excellent mopping capability. Would love recommendations based on similar situations and experiences. THANK YOU!!

Any luck fixing this, I have the same issue where it fails to return to basestation. I've tried resetting it, remapping, rebooting it etc...so frustrating:(

We've had our Eufy S1 Pro for a year and been very disappointed. It leaves roller streaks on our lino, that is predominantly clean most of the time as we have no children or pets. It doesn't have to work very hard to clean our floor, yet it always looks bad. We clean the internals on the machine once a week (with a toothbrush & with great detail) but it still does an average job even when freshly cleaned. Then we reverted to doing one room each day in order to give the machine a "rest". This was a tip given by somebody on the internet. Still the same outcome. More recently, the machine lost the map, so we tried to reset it a dozen times and yet it continually fails to find home base. It goes round & round until it loses battery charge. We paid $2600 for the Eufy S1 Pro and wouldn't recommend it.

So many issues with mine. The new version is terrible. Shooting water into the debris tray. They sent me 3 replacements and they all have the same issue. I'm done with eufy for now

Questions fréquentes

Peut-il remplacer un nettoyage manuel des tapis?

Non.
