Spot on. I litterally just processed mine for a return 5 minutes ago for the exact same issues: Randomly deletes the maps and the mapping algorithm is childish. Randomly loses its way back to the dock Inefficiently vacuums. (Doesn't map in straight lines or only cleans the center of a room Cannot execute scheduled tasks consistently I'm filling the water tank at least twice weekly. Cannot name your own rooms. You must select one of their options (Office has to be named Study, Foyer has to be named Corridor, etc.) Sporadically cannot find it's own mapped rooms to clean them. OMG. Ecovacs software and AI algorithms are CRAP . They have a long way to go. It all sounds good in theory and on their website, but in the real world they are way out of their league at the moment. This is a BUGGY product and they should be ashamed of themselves. I'm going back to Roborock. Signed a frustrated Sr. Software Test Manager.

Just opened the X2 from Black Friday Costco deal. 999.99. I had the Teo T20 before wanted the water tank built in with edge cleaning and high retractable mop heads. Well after trying to map my house. It would not separate my walls correctly and i have a big open space in some of the areas. And a bathroom is combined with a room not separated. Then just giving up. I tried to mop and vaccum a big room. But the robot kept saying “bumper stuck”’ press gently and try again. I kept pressing the bumper gently but it was never stuck to begin with, so I ignore and try again. But it keeps driving in circles and stops saying “bumper stuck” . I’ve been at it for hours trying to figure how to stop this. At this point I’m going to return it to Costco, or should I replace it with another x2 from Costco.

I purchased one to do a head to head comparison review with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra on my YouTube channel. So far, I’m not impressed. Initially it looked cool and promising, but I’ve had it acting really stupidly on carpet and rug transitions, walls, furniture etc. it rarely goes in a straight line. Generally, it will bump into walls or furniture over and over and take FOREVER to get around a room before it starts the middle, then it will go straight for a bit and start going in circles etc. again. The Roborock has NONE of these issues. I am going to keep testing both side by side for a week or two before posting my final videos on YouTube. So far, it’s looking like the Ecovacs will be getting returned. Support has only responded with basic troubleshooting responses and ignoring the pictures and videos I’m sending them which show the issues.

I've got the X2 for about a week and bit now and this is my feedback: No issues with initial mapping, and I did move the station, so I had to do redo mapping. Re-mapping didn't have any issues either. I found that the robot got lost and rotated in circles but that was my own fault for stopping it go over a small carpet with slippers. What I found was, let it go over it so it can detect the carpet and then you can avoid it in the map. Make sure to backup the map regularly in case you lose the map. Easy to restore. I did not lose the map at all, but I had to remap the main floor after moving the station. High pitch on carpets only but that's expected when the vacuum is 8000Pa. no issues on my S23 ultra with the app. No hanging or slow down etc or crashes. Navigation has been great so far. It can redirect to different rooms on its own. L shaped and low profile is great for us due to contemporary/modern home. Can't comment on Yiko as I've disabled the microphone. I get paranoid with that stuff. it's supposed to navigate around slippers but a few times I've seen it knock into it or move it around a bit. it's very minor for us. I could see some circular spots on our engineered wood in couple of areas after mopping. We don't plan to mop everyday, but only once a week. Once I walk over the spot, the spots disappear. Again, very minor for us. do the firmware update! Overall I'm quite happy with the X2. Coming from Roomba 960, so it's quite a big upgrade for us

Have had an X2 for a year. I agree with the tenor of these comments. The robot itself seems durable and well-designed, but the software is not ready for consumer distribution. I would estimate it has worked well 75% of the time, but when it fails, it is because it is confused and lost. It seems to have a poor ability to quickly figure out where it is and therefore requires human intervention. This occurs not only with simple tasks like returning to station when the station is unobstructed and in the same room, but also when it puts itself into a bind it has the demonstrated capacity to exit. My house is not complicated, and it has been over the house dozens of times, yet it fails to negotiate that well-known environment 25% of the time. It seems to be a software engineering issue, but ECOVACS doesn't seem to be in any hurry to update software, certainly not on a regular basis.

I can relate to, I was so disappointed with the poor quality, it gets stuck around an object and struggles to go around a table. The main brush keeps coming off and it keeps getting blocked by the door stopper or the table legs . It also is so noisy. Doesn’t vacuum properly and doesn’t cover some areas does not matter which setting I choose. The auto dry paths take the minimum of 3 hours that you cannot change and it heats up the whole house in summer time. It was the waste of money

So far I am liking my X2 Omni. It did seem a little stupid at first but I’ve read lots of reviews in general that say the robots do better after a few runs so I didn’t panic. That is what I am seeing. It’s smarter two weeks in. I feel like the quality of the mopping is very good with rotating pads. There is a setting to go over twice which does a crisscross pattern. This is my first all in one station with auto empty dust, clean and dirty water tanks and auto mop pad washing. I’m very impressed so far. Honestly the sound is my biggest frustration but 8000 pa suction is a lot. We have very few rugs so I’m just lowering suction for most areas and it will raise the suction when gets to a rug. My advice… give it some time as mine is much smarter and few weeks in. I’ve not seen any issues with reliability of parts in my X2 either. I am a fan of buying from Best Buy with coverage plan. This is first robot I’ve purchased directly from manufacturer. I will not make that mistake again. I’m not having issues to date but it’s really nice to have the peace of mind to return easily. Probably Best Buy or Costco for all future robot purchases. The Best Buy requires an extra fee but up to 4 years in you can return and get full refund to use toward a replacement that can be any robot of choice at the time. That’s a good thing when investing in a flagship all in one station model. I’ve used it previously but didn’t for this purchase 🙄

So 10 months after your original post I am here to say Ecovacs has not figured out the issues here. I bought the X2 4 months ago and in that time I have had 3 units!!!!! They work VERY well for 30 days +/- and then they start to act up. The first time I gave Ecovacs the benefit of the doubt because I loved my X1 that I had for 2 years until it just died so I thought I was upgrading to the X2. Within a week they sent me a replacement unit (refurbished) which had the same issues out of the box 🤦🏼♀️ Again, after going round and round and sending them countless videos of my home, furniture placement, and what the issues were they had me send the second unit in for "testing". After another two weeks they emailed and said they found a malfunction with the navigation sensors so they were sending a brand new unit out (not refurbished). That unit worked great for 28 days and then started the same issues all over again the previous two had. will not run auto clean, only wants to do one room at a time When cleaning will do the perimeter and a couple of passes and then say its done cleaning When it charges in the base station if I dont use it right away it starts to drain its own battery frequently cant find its way back to the station (even if its sitting right in front of it) At this point Ecovacs refuses to give me a refund after 3 failed units but is happy to keep sending me a new unit every 30 days until my warranty runs out 🤬

800 sq ft apt with laminate floors very basic. Bear in mind that I have owned this less than a week. Day 1: Robot effectively swept floors and vacuumed bath tub rug clean (it was really dirty). The robot got really bad stuck on the faux sheepskin rug and tangled but created its own boundary and avoided it afterward. Mop brushes were black. I swiffer my floors, and this thing found so much gunk and junk I never mopped. Robot stops over glue stains on laminant floors and attempts to fix them but moves on. Mop water was a dark grey color afterward. Day 2: Robott gets stuck in faux sheepskin rug again and has to he manually untangled. I set a boundary around the rug. Robot gets tangled on a charging cable I didn't know existed, and I have to take out the brush, unravel the cord, and reassemble it. I get a notification that it is tangled up in the app. It disabled itself until the tangle was fixed. Floors are looking super clean, mop water is dark, and dust bag is collecting debris. Day 3: Robot avoids the faux sheepskin rug. glue stains from laminant application are slowly starting to disappear (i thought i was going to have to apply rubbing alcohol to them, and floors are looking very clean. Mop water continues to come out milky Grey, which lets me know this thing is still finding something to clean. The floorr is noticeably cleaner. I thought this thing would be a little dumber than it was. It is very smart at avoiding obstacles and boundaries. It will get tangled and disabled over the smallest little thing. Your floors can't have cords and cables or small trash all over. Something as simple as a plastic monster energy seal will get caught up in it. However, it exceeds in cleaning basic dust and floor gunk. Also, long fur rugs are a no. This does very well on carpet and linoleum or laminate flooring. My floors are noticeably cleaner, and my bathroom rug is super clean now. Again, it does not do well with long fur rugs. Becomes fixated on permanent or stubborn stains on floors. Works surprisingly well on my stubborn glue issues. Works surprisingly well in general. For a small apartment I couldn't recommend this more. I have only owned this for a few days. The warranty at Best Buy was over $500, which is absolutely absurd. These must break often. I do not trust that this will run long without a malfunction due to the warranty price and intelligence issues with cords and long fur carpets. Will update later.

When I tried it out it was pretty good, but I agree with you about the navigation. I think due to the first generation square shape, it had more issues with getting out of harder situations than the circle shaped ones. AI worked really well for me. Once it went through a few runs, it started to find areas that were more dirty and cleaned them more frequently. Navigation wasn’t good enough for me to keep it when dropping $1000+.

xaikoflipr/RobotVacuums · Dreame L20 vs Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni →2024-03-24
I can't comment on the L20 but I briefly had the Ecovacs X2 Omni and currently have the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. On paper the Ecovacs had everything I wanted/the most feature rich vacuum on the market (before the 2024 vacs) plus was on heavy discount. It has the hot water mopping and the camera for remote viewing. When using it however, it was a different story. It got stuck in so many places and I felt like it straight up missed spots. The navigation algorithm was weird and it still did not avoid obstacles that well. So then I wanted to try the Roborock since I have heard its navigation is the best. Lo and behold the Roborock easily traversed the space and has not got stuck even in some worrisome spots. It was efficient in cleaning and avoided obstacles better (certainly not perfect but better than Ecovacs). My initial hold ups were no hot water washing, no camera for remote viewing, and the mopping system (it just makes more sense to me that spinning mops would be better than a vibrating mop). Also, the Roborock has to turn 180 degrees in the dock to accomplish either charging/emptying vac or washing and refilling the mop, which seems dumb. That being said if you are looking for a set it and forget it machine that does the job then the Roborock has been a slam dunk for me. Since all 3 robovacs are a similar price right now I did briefly consider the Dreame L20 as well and would have tried it but it's too much of a hassle to buy and return another one if I'm already happy with the Roborock.

Overall I do not recommend the X2 Omni, my point of reference is X1 Omni which I had for a year prior to thinking X2 would be an upgrade. Reasons: am not enjoying the advertised benefit of improved edges/corner cleaning because it doesn't appear to move in a straight line against fixed surfaces such as lower kitchen cabinets and just repeatedly bumps into them because it thinks it can fit in the 2in of clearance below the fixture door and the baseboard under it; it seems to have lower quality object detection and avoidance compared to X1 Omni. Somehow cannot return to it's base, there's plenty of space around it's base, the same amount as provided to X1 Omni. Disappointed af.

Honestly, it’s been awesome! I’ve had it for about a month so far. Upgraded from an older Ecobot (which was ok). It’s had zero issues and the floors are clean as hell. I have two dogs and an 8yo so it’s been navigating just fine avoiding dog toys and kid toys without issue. Maybe they’ve nailed down the software now with the latest release.

I just picked one up today from bestbuy. I've had the roombi j9+ combo for a few days so wanted to compare. Mapping took about 10 minutes and was OK. Every 2 minutes on my carpet which is a very low carpet it keeps saying driving wheels stuck. Nothing is stuck in there. It just happened again as I typed this. This is now the 5th time in 15 minutes. When it was mapping, it never got stuck. I don't even have to move the robot, just hit ignore and resume and suddenly it works again. I'll probably be returning this

This is my first automated vaccume/mop unit and I really like it, I’ve had to remap a couple of times because I’ve moved the base station. There’s a few quirks like the live map updating, it forgot my office exists because I’ve had the door closed. But overall I do like it a lot.

I've had mine now for 2 weeks. Replaced my Roomba S9+ that has been moved upstairs now.( that when new 3 years ago i had NO END of issues with, even had it fully replaced under warranty). So far the X2 is fantastic. Mapping run was quick and accurate. Has mapped out all the rugs, mats and rooms fine. So far I really can't fault it. Seems to vac and mop well. Gentle on the bumps. (The Roomba would push stools all over the kitchen) It is FAR quieter than the S9+ also. Hopefully it keeps up the good work. Purchased mine the Sunday before Black Friday for $992. Best price I ever saw. It's a shame that these fancy products always have a few duds. My s9+ being one. A friend got one the same week and has had not a single issue. But as I've said a few times, not many people come to reddit to sploode over a product. Only complain about bad experiences. Keeping my fingers crossed that the good ones outweigh the bad. Lol. I'll be back to bitch if mine breaks too believe me 🤭

I've had many robot vacuums over the years, Shark and Roomba brands mostly and different models, which were terrible especially Roomba, I remember dropping $1k on a Roomba and needed a replacement 2 months after use, it would not dock, but same issue happened with replacement. I was at the point of giving up on robot vacuums until one day I decided to buy a T8+, that vacuum made me a believer again, so after a year of use I bought X1 last year in November 2022, and so far I have had no issues at all. Mapping sucks, so I stopped paying attention to it, because after countless of re-mapping it just never got it right, I did place two boundaries and that's the last time I looked at the map, because I simply don't do it as it works great on a daily schedule. What I don't like about X1 is the bottom tray that is not removable, cleaning it is annoying, I simply don't want to deal with that and want an easier process with a removable tray, so I started looking into X2, well I actually already ordered it for a pickup, but still doing some research. I've been very happy with Deebot so far, never needed to contact them as T8+ and X1 had no issues. I looked into Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, but I'm not a fan of that mop, and I want a rotating ones. I looked into Dreame L20, it looks like X1 with minor changes and still a problematic tray that will require getting on the knees for cleaning. All other Roborock models to me look like a downgrade from X1. Like I said I've been pretty happy with T8+ and X1, but the tray is what makes me want X2. I don't want T20, I want the newest product. So far what I've been reading on X2 seems like the usual outcome, those who are happy stay quiet, and those who are not coming out to complain. There is a reason why we live in a world of consumerism and there are plenty of options, additionally it is expected that some units will have issues. On Amazon X1 has a worse rating than X2, so if I'm happy with X1, it means I'll be super happy with X2, I mean that's what I hope for. My X1 is a beast, it has a daily schedule with everything set on high, sure I wish the water lasted longer, but I can live with that. I have 60 days return with Best Buy here, although I'm thinking of upgrading to Best Buy Total since it offers a whole year of protection. Generally we have here 1 year warranty already for all products from manufacturers, but from what I'm reading that ecovacs require vacuums to be shipped to them in China for any issues, definitely don't want to deal with that. I guess I'll continue doing my research and reading reviews, but based from what I've read I'm learning towards picking X2 tomorrow.

So I’ve been testing X2 and comparing it to X1, just in case I got extra warranty for X2, but so far I’m very impressed with X2, it cleans so much better than X1. I did not see any issues, mop pads do go up when vacuuming over an entrance rug I have. Mapping is also better but not perfect and still needs some work, but besides that it is so much faster at charging than X1, also cleans areas that X1 is unable to. Mopping is also by far better with X2, it gets stains removed that X1 needed to do multiple runs over.

I returned my robotic vacuum this week after giving it a dedicated try for a whole month. Right from the moment I purchased it, I kept telling myself to give it another chance every day. However, in its last week of use, it became more of an expensive vacuum for under my bed as I didn't want the hassle it caused when cleaning the rest of the house. This was my first experience with a robovac, and I had high expectations, but it turned out to be a disappointing product. Every time I used it, I had to intervene in some way, making it highly inconvenient and impractical. Here were the issues I encountered: - It frequently got stuck. - It kept bumping into obstacles. - It often circled aimlessly. - Power cords got tangled in the wheels, mopping pads, or brush multiple times. - It got lost or took more than 10 minutes to return to its home base. - After its initial mapping, it randomly remapped areas, even adding my outdoor space, forcing me to create barriers to prevent it from going outside. - It consistently missed large sections of rooms during cleaning. - It exhibited random, inefficient cleaning patterns. - The app was challenging to use for adjusting cleaning areas. The store offered to replace it, but I believed that the replacement would likely have the same issues, so I opted for a full refund. Unfortunately, I had also purchased over $100 worth of additional hardware that will now go to waste, but I can manage that inconvenience. I will say thought that the vacuum and mopping could be brilliant if it didn't have all the software issues.

Just got mine today! I had a simple roomba and it did the job of vacuuming, its one of the more dumb ones it vacuums everywhere it fits does not care about anything else. Now I mapped and cleaned once, and it missed the walls closest part, after it charged and the schedules one kicked in, it seems that it was more intelligent on hot to clean the rooms since now it went all the way to the wall. I had some coffee stains that were a day old and it did an okish job at cleaning them, I did run it without solution. Overall for today I am happy since it mopped my house which no one wants to do it. My only concern are the spare parts I a m in Mexico and it's going to be a hassle to get them :s. I can update you on tomorrows clean if I remember :p

Questions fréquentes
La navigation est-elle aussi bonne que le S9+?
Non. Les utilisateurs rapportent une navigation confuse, des blocages fréquents sur petits obstacles, des pertes de position et des retours au dock défaillants. C'est une régression selon plusieurs propriétaires.
Est-ce fiable à long terme?
Non.
Non. Les utilisateurs le décrivent comme "not ready for consumer distribution", buggé, avec des algorithmes d'aspiration peu fiables et un effacement aléatoire des cartes.
