r/projectors · Xgimi horizon 20 vs. Hisense c2 ultra vs. NexiGo TriVision Ultra I'd say the XGIMI Horizon 20 is the best bang for the buck. Lens shift is very useful, the picture is sharp and has great colors and vrr for gaming is nice to have. Watch the comparison video from the hookup for projectors under $1500.
r/projectors · Benq TK705i vs Xgimi Horizon 20 I have the Horizon 20 base model which I use for watching movies/shows and gaming. So far I'm very happy, now that the Disney+ app was fixed by Disney. The picture is sharp and the colors are great. Watching 4k movies is just a delight. Lens shift is also something that I wouldn't want to miss anymore. There are people who see RBE, which seems to be subjective since I only see it with white text on black background but it doesn't bother me. Gaming is great with VRR and 240hz (only in 1080p mode) or 60hz in 4K. Maybe there are comparison videos on YT. You can't really take good pictures or videos from a laser projector. The picture always has some pink hue that you don't see in real life.
r/projectors · 4k Projector Recs For Dedicated Theater Room? That would be my suggestion too. I was planning to buy the Hisense C2 pro but am now waiting for the XGIMI Horizon 20 to launch in Europe. I game as well so the variable refreshrate is a great addition.
r/projectors · 4k Projector Recs For Dedicated Theater Room? Yes that's too bad. I would also rather have a ceiling mount than a stand for it as a freebie. Though I think the price is still good in Europe if you compare it to other projectors.

r/xgimi · Guide : How to choose between Horizon 20, Horizon 20 Pro, Horizon 20 Max yes and they are too optimistic. They have based their calculation on a real 3200 lumens output which is impossible to achieve in good condition. My test is based on real life conditions, I was using Movie/D65 mode which is around 1600 lumens, that's half of what is advertised. The other configurations are not ok for color accuracy. If you target 100 inch, you are still in green for laser level 9-10. With 3.4 meters from the screen you have more than 100 inch and there you're not in the green area anymore. My table is a recommendation based on industry standards and my experience. If you have a higher tolerance for darker images, orange might still be ok for you.
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) In this price range, I have for example the Formovie Edge: [https://www.laurentwillen.be/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/](https://www.laurentwillen.be/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/) It has a 3000:1+ native contrast but it's a UST If you prefer models like this XGIMI, there will most likely be around the same native contrast level except if they're using an iris like the high end model from Valerion (also more expensive)
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) no, it has improved but color change is still visible. Works much better on Titan Noir series
r/xgimi · Horizon S Max Vs Horizon 20 Base it depends on your expectations because the Horizon 20 is better on some aspects. They have almost the same brightness in real life. Contrast is also the same. The Horizon 20 has better color coverage and accuracy, you can use factory settings (Movie/D65) to reach a very good level of accuracy. The Horizon 20 is also much better for gaming. It also has lens shift and zoom which gives you more flexibility. So it's a bit up to you to define what you really need because if you don't care about gaming, lens shift. You're only left with colors as a difference. With the S Max you can improve colors by calibrating it, with the Horizon 20 you don't need to calibrate it.
r/xgimi · Guide : How to choose between Horizon 20, Horizon 20 Pro, Horizon 20 Max yes with the base model you can achieve great things, that's a bit the essence of the article. 170 inch will fall short for HDR in Movie/D65 mode but that depends on everyone's perception. If you're happy with this, it's the most important thing. I have applied a safe margin to the calculation to be sure it's enough for all.
r/xgimi · Guide : How to choose between Horizon 20, Horizon 20 Pro, Horizon 20 Max The range i have been using are the following ones: Dark room: 80 to 120 nits Partially lit: 120 to 180 nits Lit: 180 to 200+ nits with a negative effect on dark room It is what you call the upper hand. With 860 lumens that might work for SDR but will be too low for HDR. That means 69 nits while I'm targeting 80 to 120. I should perhaps remove SDR for the title because I took a safety margin for HDR too. The goal of this article is to show that the Horizon 20 might be perfectly fine for many situations.
r/xgimi · Guide : How to choose between Horizon 20, Horizon 20 Pro, Horizon 20 Max I have tested it here: [https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/xgimi-horizon-s-pro-test-review/](https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/xgimi-horizon-s-pro-test-review/) It's a good projector but it lacks a couple of things compared to the Horizon 20 base model: \- it's less bright \- it has a smaller color coverage \- it has less color accuracy \- I'm not sure it has been updated with Google TV/Native netflix (was not the case at the time of testing)
r/xgimi · Guide : How to choose between Horizon 20, Horizon 20 Pro, Horizon 20 Max Thanks :-) Yes indeed, that was a bit the marketing and fear of missing out pushing people to buy the more expensive model. H20 Pro and Max are better but you really need to have good eyes to see the difference.
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) ahah merci :) Yes I'm mostly referring to some USTs for the contrast because most good lifestyle projectors are somewhere around 1500:1 to 2000:1 (native sequential contrast). USTs are often much more expensive but if you take the Formovie Edge you have around 3000:1 for around 1500€. That's a pretty good deal. I have reviewed it here: [https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/](https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/) (in English) [https://www.laurentwillen.be/gadgets/test-avis-projecteurs/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-avis/](https://www.laurentwillen.be/gadgets/test-avis-projecteurs/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-avis/) (in French) In the lifestyle range, there are a few exceptions, mostly when using an iris. What kind of screen are you using? A white one? With a 120 inch white screen (gain 1) you should have around 1200 real lumens to be able to watch HDR in good conditions. That would more around 1800 lumens for a 0.65 gain. Your current JMGO is not bright enough to cope with big screen like this. With the Horizon 20, you would have enough brightness with a white screen, you would fall a bit short of light with an ALR screen.
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) 28dB that's very low and most of the time, the room you live in has more than 28 db
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) it will only wake up if you use the boost mode or maybe if you are in a warm room. I have used it for hours and never heard the span spinning.
r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) it depends how much light you have. A white screen doesn't control the light very well which tends to make black look grey like in my review. With 100 inch and laser set to 10, you will get around 180-200 cd/m² which should be enough to compensate some light. The important thing is to avoid direct light.

If you have to use AI if English is not your first language delete the emojis at least. As for your question, the titan noir is a better projector in every way when talking about image quality. H20 has some benefits but not if picture quality is your main focus

r/projectors · Valerion pro 2 used or XGIMI horizon 20 They both have the same 1400:1-1600:1 native contrast, similar brightness, but the Valerion EBL algo is better than the Xgimis. Plus the Valerion Pro 2 has RBE Reduction which has completely eliminated any visbility of the rainbow effect for me.

r/projectors · XGIMI 4K Pro vs XGIMI Horizon 20, Price Jump Really Worth It? So I bought the base horizon 20 coming from the horizon HD. Colors are better, lens shift is great for my setup. The additional light do help in day light and make it impressive in full darkness. Sound is not an upgrade I found it even less powerful but fuller. Multi things bothering me When using lens shift, some feature doesn't work : - wall coloration - eye protection (I wish this one would work even poorly) - and other smart stuff around the projection The gamble system is very bad in my eyes. Every vibration makes it move and it's missing one rotation axis. Still waiting on software issues like dynamic blacks

r/projectors · Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 Don't know why you hating when the Xgimi is ranked up there very close with the Pro2. I also personally know a couple people with the X horizon and it's a blast to watch for movie nights. Maybe your controlled light environment is bad or your movie quality is just that bad. Needless to say, I heard there have been some updates to the X Horizon to enhance the black level (EBL) features.

r/projectors · Need advice to choose between Xgimi Horizon 20/20 pro vs Valerion visionmaster pro 2 OP save your money and get xgimi 20 unless you can turn it into a cave. Look at this example - https://hometheaterphotos.com/projector2/projectiondream.mp4
r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Pro vs horizon 20 Imo it's because they're all similar and only difference is brightness. For base it's only 1900 lumens which is 150 nits for 120" screen. Imo it's suitable if you use screen smaller than 120". So check the brightness you need based on the screen size - https://visualdisplaysltd.com/resources/tools/useful-calculator-tools/projected-brightness-calculator
r/projectors · help deciding between 4 options $2.6k for xgimi horizon 20 is really steep, for that price you can get xgimi titan noir during it's KS campaign. Imo try to get xgimi horizon 20 while it's on sale for \~$1.3k
r/projectors · Hisense C2 Pro - Thoughts/Reviews? Newer, more features like vrr, lens shift, google tv and at promo price of $1.2k it's a better value. However, c2 has better zoom and throw ratio - so if you need the 0.9 then it will be c2. If it's about the best then it's xgimi titan and not horizon 20.
r/projectors · Horizon 20, Nexigo Trivision or Benq W2720i or…? Horizon 20 is better and have more features like horizontal and vertical shift which is helpful but if you're sensitive to rbe and speckle then nexigo trivision works better being alpd with led and laser hybrid light.
r/projectors · Need advice to choose between Xgimi Horizon 20/20 pro vs Valerion visionmaster pro 2 You'll need a proper room to even see the difference. Imagine 100 nits for 15000 contrast, that's 0.006 nits black floor. You'll need a cave for that black floor, OP bed room likely ain't it. OP just get the cheapest one, xgimi 20
r/projectors · Xgimi Horizon 20 vs Valerion streammaster plus 2 Ah it cost more. Anyway between the 2 options imo the xgimi 20 will be better due to optical zoom and higher brightness.

r/projectors · How much difference does XGIMI Horizon S Max's dual light (LED + laser) make compared to XGIMI Horizon 20's laser only light? Coming from a BenQ HT2050A 1080P LED projector which I liked. The answer was obvious: didn't make sense to give up all that the Horizon 20 series offers to get a 'softer' image. The better contrast, zoom range, lens shift... it all makes the Horizon 20 a significantly better product than the Max. So i snagged the horizon 20

r/projectors · From Epson to modern Projectors, the past view years in my view. whats yours? I dont know the C3 very well, but I imagine the xgimi horizon 20 series has to be the best comparable for xgimi projectors? No direct comparisons that I know of, but you can use The Hook Up youtube channel for some indirect comparisons: 2024 video: https://youtu.be/ClIboELoz74?si=LuXcmLdvPU4Cgoo2 - compares C2 Ultra with Valerion Pro 2 (Valerion wins) 2025 video: https://youtu.be/F6mFV7XQC3o?si=PILNG5RS4_h22z2R - compares Valerion Pro 2 with Xgimi Horizon 20 max (close competitor to Valerion Pro 2 and possibly overtakes if it fixes DBL software issue as promised). To be clear, I dont own any of them. I've just been researching for a new projector and comparing the Hisense C2, Xgimi Horizon 20, and Valerion Pro 2 and my general take so far is Valerion visionmaster Pro 2 > Xgimi Horizon 20 > Hisense c2 ultra (not considering price).
r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Ultra Recommendation From what I've read the valerion plus/plus 2 are the best in their class and have gotten software updates to help improve them further (including RBE reduction). The Hisense m2pro and Nexigo trivision fall in that same category (just not quite as good). Like I said before, I think the Hisense C2 falls in the Xgimi horizon 20 grouping, but on the lower end of that group and therefore it's comparable to the Valerion. This is all based on what I've read/reviewed. I'm looking to upgrade and will probably be going with a valerion plus 2 as there are quite a few brand new in box valerion projectors available online where I live and the Xgimi is also overpriced here compared to its usual msrp (Canada).
r/projectors · HISENSE C2 PRO - XGIMI HORIZON 20 If you have to use keystone, than that makes getting the Xgimi the EASY choice. I also just want to make sure you realize neither comparison table has the C2 "Pro". I think the Xgimi Horizon 20 is the slight winner in my opinion based on the comparisons I have read, but I haven't owned either and theres probably an argument for both options.

r/projectors · Is the VisionMaster Pro 2 right for me? There are really good options in the Valerion price point. Any of them are solid choices, but whether the Valerion is worth a few hundred extra is tough these days. The horizon 20 didn’t exist when I purchased mine and I’d probably give it a hard look these days. I’d say you really don’t need the Max. I own several pro 2s and have seen the Max in person. I didnt see a large enough performance difference to justify the price jump. Screen wise I’m partial to ceiling mounted for stability, keeping everything dialed in, and more flexibility in material choice. But again, very much a user preference. Don’t cheap out on screens, it’s equally as impactful as the projector on image quality in my opinion.

r/projectors · What projector to buy? I also had these options to choose from. I wouldn't even consider the normal Horizon 20, as the Pro is significantly better thanks to the "Red Ring" optic. Take a look at the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bgx841ENRc Unless it's over your budget. I'm still going back and forth about whether to keep the Valerion VisionMaster Pro2 or the Horizon 20 Pro. The Valerion currently has the significantly better black level, but the Horizon 20 Pro should improve with firmware updates. It's still a bit buggy at the moment. If you really only project onto a wall, then I would probably go for the Valerion. But I have one comment on that. Everyone mentions how quiet it is. The fans are indeed very quiet, but there is a kind of humming or whirring noise coming from the projector, especially when it is running at full brightness. However, I can only speak for the Pro2. I have no idea how it is with the normal Pro. With the Horizon 20 Pro, this humming/buzzing is very quiet. I don't know if I just got a defective Valerion, but I've read about it in other comments, even with the normal Pro.

r/projectors · Choosing the right projector Hey there! So, you won’t match your LG OLED’s blacks on a projector, but in a dark room a 100–120″ image can feel more cinematic; for your “move it room to room” plan I’d skip the UST units since they’re meant to live inches from a fixed ALR screen and aren’t super portable-friendly. I don't know why you're saying that we didn't like the JMGO; we reviewed the JMGO N1S Ultimate, and we liked it quite a bit. We didn't review the Pro, but they're very similar, just the Pro is dimmer than the Ultimate. It definitely seems like the best value for you here. As for XGIMI’s Horizon 20 line, it's solid if the price is right. The differences between 20/Pro/Max are mostly brightness/processing and, for night use, the base model is usually enough. Hope this helps!

r/projectors · Help for first projector purchase I would strongly recommend investing in a screen. An entry level unit projecting onto a screen will usually outperform a mid tier unit projecting onto an untreated wall. You’ll want a motorized drop down screen with tab tensioning. The tab tensioning is important for avoiding ripples in your screen down the line. Regarding your choice of unit: the Titan noir Kickstarter is currently the best deal in projectors. At $3k it outperforms the Valerion Max, which retails for a couple grand more. I believe that you have until 15 June to order from the Kickstarter. For a less expensive option I’d investigate a secondhand or discounted Valerion Pro2. That unit is also tri-laser and can often be found at a discount as Valerion sent many out to buyers of the Max to use while they waited for the company to finish the Max’s manufacturing. The Max has now been released so there are a number of barely used secondhand Pro2s on the market. If you’re uncomfortable buying secondhand (or can’t find a well priced Pro2) you might also investigate the Nexigo TriVision Ultra, the Xgimi Horizon 20, or the Valerion Streammaster, all of which use laser or hybrid-laser light sources for brightness and gamut that often significantly outperform comparably priced units that use lamp or LED light sources. The Nexigo uses a hybrid laser-LED light source, which is a worse performer than pure laser but avoids the speckling issue inherent to current laser tech to which some users are sensitive. You should also consider whether or not your mount point would benefit from a unit with optical zoom or lens shift. A ceiling mounted projector must mount to your joists (unless you live in an apartment with concrete framing). Depending on where your joists are vis a vis your projection area you might need zoom in order to hit the size at which you’re aiming or lens shift in order to hit your target area with minimal digital keystone, which cuts your resolution if used. Many entry level units lack those features.

One thing that I would like to say is that daytime performance is not good. So if you are planning to use it as a daytime tv replacement or for daytime movie watching, you will need to fully blackout the room using curtains etc.

r/projectors · Projector Search: Xgimi, Jmgo, Hisense, my head is going to explode! to be fair, they all kinda say that with the lumens, it's just their literal highest output the jmgo n1s 4k claims 1100 lumens but actual usable/watchable is 708, and the newest jmgo n3 claims 1800, the hisense m2 pro claims 1300 and is actually 902 [from "The Hook Up" the base horizon 20 model was measured at 3150 at its brightest/green tinted mode and it's "usable" lumens in an actual watchable mode was 2373](https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I_s?si=jqFaQUsXgMHs7SOd) which is way brighter than any jmgo in that price range other ones to look into are probably refurbished benq tk710/x3100i

r/projectors · Advice for setup upgrade over a BenQ w1070 in 2026 Ah you’re correct. My apologies for leaving that one out. So between these would really come down to the specific features you’re looking for. Dolby Vision support on the Horizon 20 would be a plus vs HDR10+ & HLG on the BenQ Triple Laser on the Horizon 20 vs 4LED on the BenQ The BenQ W2720i would give you a more natural look film look vs a punchier color look on the Horizon 20 I also like the center lens design which might make placement for your room easier. Can’t go wrong with either of these tbh.
r/projectors · Does anyone have a XGIMI horizon 20 (base)? Looking for first hand reviews and expierence. Why would the Horizon 20 be overkill? It’s a great unit with some kinks that are being worked out. If you have the room for a larger screen why not go for one. Plus daytime viewing requires a bright projector in which this one already is. Don’t limit yourself with the space that you’re working.

r/projectors · best projector for apartment use? Hey Bro, for apartment setups the features that actually move the needle are brightness in lumens so you can handle some daytime light, throw distance or short throw capability to fit small rooms without mounting headaches, and proper screen choice over a plain wall. A dedicated ALR screen makes a huge difference in contrast and color even with ambient light. Keystone correction is tempting but mounting the projector square to the wall gives a much cleaner image long term. Some models that work well in tight spaces are the BenQ TH671ST for a budget friendly bright 1080p option, the XGIMI Horizon 20 if you have 8 to 10 feet throw distance, and the Hisense PL2 or PX3-PRO UST if you want a no mount setup right against the wall. For used gear, an old Epson 1080p like the Powerlite HC 8350 or 5050UB can still deliver great results if you find one in good shape. If you want portable ease with decent performance, the XGIMI Mogo 2 Plus or Nebula P1 are solid picks for casual viewing. Just remember brightness and screen quality matter more than 4K specs in most apartments. Do you have a throw distance in mind or are you leaning toward a UST setup?

r/projectors · What’s better for watching movies? Valerion VisionMaster Pro or Pro 2? Not sure if you pulled the plug or not but here is what I found. I recently went down a similar rabbit hole deciding on what to buy and what I wanted it for. I had narrowed it down to the nebula x1, Benq TK705STi, the visionmaster pro 1 or 2, xgimi horizon 20 or 20 pro and the trivision ultra. I wanted a projector to watch the world cup outdoors in evenings/ night along with a projector that would deliver a good picture in the dark for movies etc that wouldn't burn the eyes off of me/ has decent black levels. I also am aware that most projectors will be washed out in evenings (until it gets darker) on a standard white screen but I dont care as long as I can make out who can score etc. Reviews on the horizon 20 and pro stopped me buying this as the rbe is very bad allegedly. The trivision is not sold here. So I went with the visionmaster 1 as I got a really good deal at 1600 euro. Image is very watchable on a wall during day with light shining on wall. Can be washed out though if sun raises its wonderful head. Colour and black levels at night are excellent. Very vivid. Good contrast. No rbe as the new rbe software works great. No laser speckle noticeable my end either. All in all I would say I'm delighted with my purchase, no complaints.

r/projectors · Xgimi Horizon 20 vs Hisense C2 pro I had the C2, sold it after a few months, contrast didn't feel good and the OS it has was borderline unusable. The Horizon 20 also has good zoom and lens shift in both directions with and has GoogleTV. For some reason there seems to be a "don't use built-in OS" crowd, but the built-in OS works much better on these new SOCs than on external solutions. They have faster chips, more RAM and it's a better experience -> the C2 also has a significantly worse SOC then the Horizon 20, it will feel a lot more sluggish. Especially the Hoirzon 20 is more powerful than even high-end external googleTV sticks/devices. I'd honestly use the built-in OS until they drop software support and get an external solution by then.

r/projectors · best projector for apartment use? Given that you're in an apartment, watch mostly movies/TV/sports, want decent colors and brightness without fuss, and don't need bleeding-edge specs: BenQ TH671ST (\~$700) + a Roku or Fire TV Stick.1080p, simple, bright, gets the job done. XGIMI Horizon 20 (\~$1400). if you have 8–10 feet of throw distance. It punches way above its weight. Hisense PL2 (\~$1,800 on sale) paired with a dedicated UST screen. Sits right against the wall, looks like furniture. Hisense PX3-PRO UST (\~$3,500). Reference color, low-latency gaming, every HDR format, and it looks phenomenal with a matching UST screen. Whatever you choose, a dedicated ALR or CLR screen will dramatically improve your image versus a bare wall. A screen is typically the single biggest bang-for-buck upgrade in any projector setup.

r/projectors · What do you think about the current deals on Refurbished Projector this Spring? Is that on Nexigo Refurbished Site? The 1st Gen Horizon and Nebula Cosmo SE are very disappointing at full retail with low contrast 400:1 and high 0.2 black floors. Its currently discounted 50% but a hard sell since a even a cheap $100 projector with LCD 6-bit TFT gets 1800:1 contrast and 0.01 blacks beats Horizon in SDR. 2nd Gen Horizon 20 is big improvement, Top 20 lifestyle AIO projector. XGIMI has to improve their AI tone mapping and black levels more. r/projectors · Best (for my uses) 4k Projector under £1000 UK I did have my eye on the Horizon Ultra but was put off by the poor contrast ratio (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3KmKv-TTIQQ&t=727s), and the lack of gimbal stand. I would have happily gone with the Horizon 20 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QqnfJ0-I\_s&t=1121s) but we get shafted in the UK for prices (£1499 in the UK vs $1559 in the US). So I went to the hookups older videos to try and get something under £1000, which got me interested in the Hisense C2 ultra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClIboELoz74&t=65s), still bloody over budget! But then I came across the good people of Reddit and AVS forum recommending the Vidda C3 ultra which is available through Alibaba, Mine came to £1041.93 shipped (might be less now), so seemed like a no brainer to get a newer model for less than the C2 ultra. So far I'm very happy with my decision, it's definitely the best specs I could get in my budget. It has HDMI 2.1, but apparently the chip can't handle 4K 120 hz even though your source will detect it as 120 hz capable, it isn't. The pros, amazing colours and contrast ratio, decent speakers - good base, low input lag (reportedly, I've gamed on mine and notice no lag - but then again I'm old and bad), optical zoom, really fkin' bright, good upscaling to 4K. The negs, no warranty, Chinese OS, needs a streaming stick for use, and laser speckle is baaaad (I'm projecting onto a matte white wall, yeah I'm buying a screen next!).

r/projectors · Xgimi horizon 20 vs. Hisense c2 ultra vs. NexiGo TriVision Ultra I use a little bit of keystone as ours is at a small angle (5-10 degrees if i had to guess). The image is fine with a tiny bit of black with a trapezoid shape if you look well. I'm a very technical person (got tons of parents), but these days I find it better to know about certain details. It is like when you a buy a house and you don't notice some imperfection like a crack or whatever. Then someone points it out and you can't unsee it. It is the same with technology for me now. At some point something is good enough and you don't want to know about those laser speckles or some other little detail, which you only notice if you really know. From my experience it is a good projector which creates solid images in good quality in varied conditions. The Google TV software is great as well.

r/budgetprojectors · Epson 3800? C2 ultra? Xgimi Horizon 20 Pro? Help buying my first projector with a $2k budget. The Epson 3800 only covers about 57% of 2020 color space; the Horizon 20 MAX (and assume other models) cover 97%. You are saying their tone mapping is terrible, because they have a lot more color to work with? If using MADVR - color fidelity argument should not matter, right? The Horizon 20 Pro and Base have less brightness in their "usable modes" than Epson 3800: Rtings rates the 20 MAX at 2687 lumens, Epson 3800 at 2334 lumens. Scale RTINGS figures to The Hook Up's measurements on all 3 - the Pro has 2034 Movie/ 2270 STD + boost; Base not worth mentioning. Horizon has other slightly better static contrast, and the aforementioned color advantage - but DLP and some dynamic contrast pulsing issues (post firmware update). Regardless - the Horizon 20 Max's Brightness figure of 5700 is measured at 5165 - but is green and unwatchable. It is the only model with brightness levels above the Epson 3800 in an actual "usable" mode. If anyone finds scaling based on RTINGSs figures (they didnt measure the Pro or Base; I didn't see the Hook Up measure Epson) - then the Hook Up measured Horizon 20 Pro at 2261 lumens Movie Mode; 2736 lumens on STD mode + boost; these are not calibrated but out of the box. I was about to buy a Horizon 20 because I had the same impressions about brightness, but figured I'd share my research for anyone else in the same boat.

r/projectors · Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 Valerion plus is only a viable option if you have absolute flexibility with placement of the projector and high degree of light control in the room. Valerion has better dynamic contrast as of now. XGIMI tries to come up with working dimming algo but so far it is the worst among all competitors. There is noticeable improvement when buying 20 pro due to the red lens but the price jump could destroy the value proposition. If you can perfectly position the valerion and will be watching in the light control room just get valerion. If you want to move the projector around a bit or have any flexibility in projector placement you should go with xgimi. The actual movie mode brightness difference is roughly ~15%. For my room the throw ratio of valerion was not working and I wanted lens shift, so I went with xgimi. If you are on strict budget you might explore Alibaba offers of xgimi. You can get red lens model for 1100-1200 eur DDP shipped. At the expense of 1 year warranty and need for external streaming box.
r/projectors · XGIMI horizon 20 vs 20 pro XGIMI 20 is really good. The black floor is pretty bad right now because enhanced black does not function properly. Otherwise it is really nice. Not nearly as bright as it is advertised.
r/projectors · Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 In my opinion, projectors generally appear unappealing with a certain amount of light in the room, regardless of their brightness. In simple terms I would say that both projectors are a solid 7 in darker room with some ambient light. With the window open XGIMI is a 5 and Valerion is a 4. Fresnel ALR would improve things. I do not use projectors for anything other than movies, so I use it accordingly. I think that Valerion Plus has just enough brightness to be usable, but I would prefer a slightly brighter projector. Poor light treatment? Simple blackout curtains would always be a cheaper and better answer if possible.

r/projectors · Upgraded from an Emotn N1 to the JMGO N1S 4K Pro. Loving it, but surprised by something I didn’t expect Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, that was actually really helpful to read. Your silver screen could definitely be helping there, especially compared to my plain white wall in a fully dark room. I agree with you on MEMC. I tested it briefly and it does a surprisingly good job reducing stutter without introducing too many artifacts. I haven’t tried gaming yet, but it’s good to hear low latency mode makes a real difference, especially for faster-paced games. Good point about DNR and MPEG NR too. I’m generally hesitant to use noise reduction because, like you said, it can remove some of the original film grain and character. I can see it being useful only for very poor sources. Adaptive Luma Control is one of those features I’m still on the fence about as well. Sometimes it feels like it helps, other times I’m not sure if it’s slightly altering the intended look. Local Contrast Control is even harder for me to judge. I still need to spend more time toggling it on and off with the same scenes. Interesting observation about the color tuner resetting. I noticed something similar and also suspected another setting might be overriding it. That’s definitely frustrating when you’re trying to dial things in properly. I completely agree on the OS. It’s probably my biggest complaint. Once content is playing, the image quality is incredible and kind of makes you forget about it, but navigating the UI can be painful. Like you, I’m leaning toward just using an external streaming device long-term. The smart eye protection feature is something I underestimated too. Seeing the raw laser output even for a split second is pretty shocking, so I can see why it’s useful, especially with guests around. Also, thanks for sharing the photo of your lens. It really does look different from the image I saw floating around, which makes the whole “new revision” rumor even more confusing. I still haven’t been able to confirm whether that’s actually a revised hardware version or just a regional/production variation. Overall, I’m still torn. The picture quality is outstanding, but the few quirks (OS, possible rainbow artifacts in my case, and ergonomics) make the decision harder than I expected. Your feedback definitely helps put things into perspective though, so I appreciate you taking the time to write all that. One more thing I wanted to add is that the XGIMI Horizon 20 could be an interesting alternative at a similar price point. It also supports Dolby Vision, which on paper sounds like a big advantage. That said, from what I understand, Dolby Vision only really shows its full potential when the display has strong native contrast and enough brightness headroom. Since projectors are inherently more limited in those areas compared to TVs, I’m not sure how meaningful the Dolby Vision benefit actually is in real-world projection use, versus a well-implemented HDR10 with good tone mapping. So while it’s definitely appealing as a feature, I’m still unsure how much of a practical upgrade it would be in this category.

r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) I have read your review of the Basis 20 model, and the only thing I am looking for is whether it is affected by fan noise or coil whine. You describe it as completely silent. So under normal, standard use, would it be almost silent to listen to? There should still be a few decibels, right?

r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon 20 vs Nexigo Trivision Ultra - which for 24p movies, subtitles? Just got this excellent reply from u/thehookup on his Youtube channel: If you watch with subtitles then dynamic modes are not important (Nexigo doesn't have it and XGIMI's currently isn't working all that well). If you watch 24p content the Nexigo can do native 24p right now, but it has "motion stutter" which is different than "motion judder" caused by 3:2 pulldown. If you're looking for the type of motion that CRT, LCD, and Plasma generated with 24p motion, I don't think you'd be happy with the Nexigo's 24p mode because it can be jarring for long smooth pans, but it does pretty accurately represent an old "film" projector that closed its shutter between frames. Overall I think you should probably go for the XGIMI though, not only because 24p in 1080p "projector super frame" mode already functions extremely well, but because they've announced it will natively support 4k24p after the next firmware update. I also think you'll like the AI upscaling features on the XGIMI for watching older movies.

Thanks for the response - I had read about the firmware updates and looks like u/TheHookup may be getting an advance in the coming days - still, a Google AI analysis, FWIW, is telling me to be wary of 24p on the XGIMI...

r/projectors · Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 Awesome review, have honestly been bouncing back and forth between the same 2. How do they perform with light in the room? In my situation, lighting conditions won’t always be ideal and i definitely need something with flexibility. It’s hard to tell when you’ve never had a projector if 1600 lumens is actually super bright or just meh. I’ve read some reviews where they talk about the Horizon 20 and say they never turn it up past a 2, so basically always have the lumens turned way down anyway.

I'll believe the xgimi when I see it. But there is no telling when that update comes out if it even works correctly. r/projectors · Used Horizon Ultra vs Epson 7100 Thanks for the answer! First of all 1000€ is already a bit over budget for me and I was hoping to lover it a bit more. But even if I was willing to add 300 more euros I really can't find a good new projector that has what I require (throw ratio for 4,5m distance and less than 3m width screen size). I was also hoping for a really good deal on the horizon 20 but that is not gonna happen ahah

r/budgetprojectors · Epson 3800? C2 ultra? Xgimi Horizon 20 Pro? Help buying my first projector with a $2k budget. If you have a dedicated home theater room, can control ambient light (dark curtains/blinds), prioritize color fidelity, and want a proven home cinema projector: go with the Epson Home Cinema 3800. If you have a living-room or multi-purpose space, want gaming + streaming + a more “all-in” smart experience, and you’re okay paying for more brightness/flexibility: the XGIMI Horizon 20 (or a higher variant like Pro/Max) is appealing.

r/projectors · Hisense C2 Ultra vs Horizon 20 Awesome - I bet I would be fully happy and more with the C2 Ultra. It's only the old exercise of turning every stone before making the call so I can forget about other options for a couple of years. Right now my main concern is over durability and longevity of these chinese hyper-advanced models contra something like Benq or Viewsonic that is more a "dumb" unit but maybe more rugged in a sense. It's not something I can base on anything concrete but just a idea I have from other hardware purchases where going for the most advanced can bite you...

The LTT video almost couldn't have picked a worse $2,000 product with what is out there these days. Still, it was entertaining if not leaning into a bit of the ridiculous. I wish they would call out The Hook Up, as one of the few and only channels which properly reviews multiple projectors in a price bracket at one time. What is the sweet spot? If you want 4K and a decently bright image, the STARTING point is about $1,100 for a refurbished Nexigo Trivision Ultra. It has the same type of placement issues which are found in the cheapest projectors. No zoom, fixed lens offset. But, it is properly bright, reaching the needed levels of what delivers a quality 110" to 130" diagonal image in a dark room. Not as bright as some more expensive models. At $1,500, you get several models including the Valerion Plus, the XGimi Horizon 20, and the Epson 3800. If you are DLP RBE sensitive, the Epson 3800 is the only choice really worth owning at their lowest level. You get lower color reproduction, but better placement flexibility than the DLP competition. I would only buy and recommend this is you need LCD or the lens is the only one that matches your setup. The Valerion is just well reviewed and will deliver a great looking image. The XGimi Horizon 20 is outstanding. It is one of the best values I have ever seen to this point. If someone were looking for a first projector for a home theater, then the Horizon 20 would be my first recommendation. It has excellent color space coverage and can be tweaked to be very accurate. It has top shelf contrast. It's extremely quiet. Has solid on board audio, though you should still use something better. Built in Google TV is a nice feature for some buyers as well. It has the lowest input lag of any projector at that price point right now. Better than the BenQ that was used in the LTT video. From there, you start getting little additions to different models that can be nice. The XGimi Titan Noir and the better Valerion models add more to what the cheaper models offer. Mostly in brightness. The Titan Noir adding contrast and the latest DLP chip in their products. The JMGO N3 Ultimate is right along these products. They kind of fall in that $2,000-$4,000 price range, without what I would consider, a night and day difference. The N3 Ultimate may, at the end of the day, prove to be one of the top recommendations for the next 6 months. I do not have hands on, but this model deserves it from the little I have heard. At around $2,400 you get more brightness than the $1,500 models, with excellent contrast, and incredible lens flexibility. The JVC, Epson, and Sony models tend to look very good at their $5,000+ price points, but that's no longer a sweet spot. If someone were buying with a bit more money than the XGimi Horizon 20, then I would recommend the JMGO N3 Ultimate right now. At the bottom of the line, the Optoma PH31 is the only choice. It's brighter than the cheapest LED products that are out there. $300 in the USA and available at a good price in Europe. It's 1,500 ANSI rating is more than the Nexigo PJ40 delivers, and it uses proper DLP tech instead of single LCD panel tech. It has a very simple operating system, without any smart streaming built in. This makes for a far more reliable product at the lower price point. Add a Amazon Fire TV Stick for $25, on Prime Day (today) - $16. That's an amazing overall deal.
The JMGO N1S is a serious cut above the Samsung Freestyle. Remember, you want quality over cute every day of the week. Coming from something cheap, the N1S should be close in price to the Freestyle and gives you a real bump in brightness and overall performance and reliability. Yeah, models that cost $3,000 look better. Models like the XGimi Horizon 20 ($1,500) look better. But, at your budget, if it is around the same as what the Freestyle often costs, then the JMGO N1S is a real step up in what you are after. The Hook Up (as mentioned) has videos that cover this, but the N1S won their portable shootout a couple of years ago at $1,000. At half that price it is a real powerhouse of a product.
You have to be realistic, that never in your life have you gone to a semi-lit movie theater. That doesn't mean you can't project, but there is a reason theaters are dark, and your image will take a significant hit when you add ambient light. It won't make the projector unusable, but it will definitely remove that cinematic feel. As well, about half of the theater impact is the sound treated room that is painted completely dark. It's a quiet space with excellent audio. Something many people don't want to address with anything more than a speakerbar these days. The models you listed are all solid choices. BenQ thrown in is a good choice as well. At the end of the day, these models are all DLP projectors using the same DLP chip inside of them. They are more similar than different. The worst one would be considered very bright and high resolution from what we had 15 years ago. I personally think that models with optical zoom and a good amount of lens shift are the best purchase as they make setup far easier. So, I lean heavily into the Horizon 20 being a solid choice. If you need more brightness, and can afford it, get the better models. You have to understand throw distance, and learn to use this tool... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon\_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm) You should also spend some time watching videos from a proper review YouTube channel. I like this as one of the best because of the real world comparisons of models put head to head at various price points... [https://www.youtube.com/thehookup](https://www.youtube.com/thehookup) You aren't going to struggle at your price point to find a solid projector that looks good. You will still only get part of the theatrical experience if you don't have great audio. You will probably be shocked at how good the image actually is after dark.
The Horizon 20 is the only model designed for home theater with a solid state light source. Epson does not offer ANY worthwhile home theater projectors with a solid state light source at a reasonable price. Skip Epson. The BenQ TH575 is another lamp-based projector. At this point, especially in Europe, you should not be looking at solid state light source projectors. The Horizon 20 is more money because it actually has advanced features in it, a sharp image, a lot of built in functionality, and built in smart operating system that works well, and proper 4K with HDR support. But, there are other models to try to check out. I'd watch this video and check pricing in your part of the world... [https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I\_s?si=alXkZxcyIktzghfh](https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I_s?si=alXkZxcyIktzghfh) A refurb Nexigo Trivision Ultra may be well within budget. Optoma has their newer HZ146x-w model which is a laser version of their HD146x from what I can tell. Bright 1080p, not a ton of money. It's a nice sideways move from the lamp-based BenQ TH575.
The H20 is better, but not necessarily worlds better. It is brighter, has optical lens shift, and uses the newest 4K DLP chip. If I were choosing between the two, I would take the Horizon in a second over the JMGO. I don’t say that all the time. For the money, the JMGO is still a strong model. The H20 is just a step up.
The BenQ models are an order of magnitude brighter than the M2 Pro. In most cases, I'd try to go brighter unless budget and portability are major concerns. If buying right now, other than BenQ, the XGimi Horizon 20 remains a very strong choice and recommendation. It has extensive optical lens shift which neither BenQ model has which is great for easier projector placement.
I wish I could put out every projector in the world and test them all, but the reality is that I haven't seen everything. I know that Hisense leans towards quality products and the C1 through the C3 are all outstanding. The contrast wouldn't be as strong as what you get from JVC, but it is a very usable lifestyle projector that will look really good in almost any low light environment. I don't think any of the C2 series was bad, and reviews on the Ultra were really strong. I think the C2 Pro is just a step down on brightness, and has downgraded internal audio. This makes the Pro lighter, and easier to move around. If you don't need the added brightness of the Ultra, then then Pro would be a solid choice. What is crazy though is how much other brands are doing right now. The Horizon 20 is better all around than the C2 projectors (except zoom), and at a very affordable price point.
With a lot of unknown factors, I would lean towards the Horizon over the C2 Pro pretty easily. Unless I needed the zoom range of the C2, the lens shift of the Horizon is a big deal in ease of setup and proper use. The price is fine on the C2, but we've seen pretty crazy jumps in quality from DLP in the last couple of years. I think the Horizon 20 hits a real sweet spot of quality for the money.
I don't have the projectors in my possession to test first hand. Please look at the videos over at [www.youtube.com/thehookup](http://www.youtube.com/thehookup) and check out his Extras channel. Specifically: [https://youtu.be/1bgx841ENRc?si=zZDvUF4xIbKDeTRi](https://youtu.be/1bgx841ENRc?si=zZDvUF4xIbKDeTRi) He compares all 3 of the Horizon 20 models and gives his thoughts. Is the Horizon 20 better than the Nexigo? In testing at The Hook Up, the answer is that it is better. But none of the models are 'BAD'. It's like different seasoning on a good steak. The steak is still good regardless of the seasoning, but some seasonings are a bit better than others. Yeah, some seasonings could be crap, but that's not the case here. 😄
If that was for me, then the XGimi Horizon 20 is a extremely solid entry/mid tier level 4K projector. It uses DLP pixel shifting which is sharper than what the Epson 3800/5050 models can deliver, with full 4K support and HDR. It's got a ton of lens shift that matches the Epson 3800. It uses a tri-laser light source instead of a lamp, and it has optical zoom. Not as much as the Epson, but sharp throughout the range. While the Nexigo Trivision Ultra is really well reviewed, and can be had from around $1,100 for refurbs, it does not have lens shift or zoom, but otherwise performs really well. The Valerion models at the low end still perform really well also. BenQ isn't a bad product with their TK710, which has decent quality and comes from an extremely reputable manufacturer, but the new smaller companies are just embarrassing the legacy companies with how fast new products are coming from them. Near $2,000, the JMGO N3 Ultima has zoom and lens shift and a ton of brightness which can be tweaked for more contrast or better brightness as needed. It's a beast. In a good home theater, with a budget, the JVC NZ500 is still a strong recommendation. Not sure how the XGimi Titan Noir Max compares to that, but I did prefer it to my JVC DLA-X590R.
XGimi has had issues with fairly low contrast on their models until the Horizon 20 was released which simply amped up the game for everything. The S Max only delivers about a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. More like 900:1 on most settings. So, black levels will be kind of greyish, and less black. But, otherwise it is a solid model. Not sure what the Nexigo Trivision Ultra runs you, but that would be a better choice for the money.
XGimi Horizon 20 over both. If you are only picking from those 2, then the X3100i is the better model, by a fair bit.
I would watch this video if you haven't... [https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I\_s?si=nDNOwjPwwd5pnvRz](https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I_s?si=nDNOwjPwwd5pnvRz) The Epson came in dead last when compared against the DLP competition in head-to-head testing. In other measurements, like contrast, the Epson did terrible, but the BenQ tested (GP520) did even worse. There is a long list of other models which significantly outperformed both models. That said, the TK750STi is a very different product. There is a reasonable review of the 705Sti here... [https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/benq-tk705sti-short-throw-projector-review-little-box-for-little-rooms/](https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/benq-tk705sti-short-throw-projector-review-little-box-for-little-rooms/) I think I would go elsewhere. The Horizon 20 is one of those options. Optical zoom and lens shift are massive features when you want a quick and easy setup that maximizes quality.
You are losing a fair bit of quality by simply projecting on a wall unless you put in a lot of time and effort making it into a good screen. Keep that in mind. I think you've done good homework on things already. These models aren't miles apart from one another. The Valerion is probably the way I would go if it fit my space and was within my budget. That or the XGimi Horizon 20. In recent testing, the Horizon 20 Max was praised for image quality, but was considered too expensive for what you get. I tend to agree. At $3,000, I'm looking at the XGimi Titan Max, currently on Kickstarter. But, if I'm buying in that lineup, the standard XGimi Horizon is a incredible value and is plenty bright enough for a 120" diagonal or so, if it fits your room, I'd look hard at it. Not sure what about the BenQ really sets it apart from the competition. It's a good model, and the short throw lens is nice. BenQ has been playing a bit of catch up with XGimi and Valerion in recent years. But, they have been doing it for a long time and they aren't doing stupid things. Models like their X500i are very solid home theater models and the LED light engine eliminates laser speckle. But, it's not bright enough and would leave you asking for more I expect.
No projectors do well competing with a lot of light in the room. That's physics and it IS as simple as that. A TV absolutely trounces a projector in that regard. Likewise, you are looking at the 'portable' projector category which is pushing maximum light output near 1,000 lumens. But, reality may be a fair bit less for the Epson and a good deal less for the GV50. This video (different Epson model) got over 900 ISO lumens from the Epson and only 325 from the GV50. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc\_Y-mFY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeugc_Y-mFY) As a very simple statement, if you want more light in the room, get the brightest projector you can, even if there are a few minor tradeoffs. Epson delivers a great looking image overall, and the EF21 is a solid choice that I would take in a second over the GV50 if I was using it in a room with any ambient light. But, it will only go so far with fighting ambient light. Keep in mind that models like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra, or the Soundcore Nebula X1 or XGimi Horizon 20, are pushing over twice the amount of light out of their projectors with their lifestyle models, and they are starting to add zoom and lens shift to some models as well. These models don't have to cost $1,000+ more than what you are spending, but they do cost more. Keep an eye out for good deals.
I was sent the Elfin Flip 4K to try out. So, yeah, there is that. On the other hand, I bought the XGimi Titan Noir Max myself. I also have a JVC. I bought the Optoma PH31 specifically to compare to the Elfin Flip 4K. At the end of the day, I had my wife come down and look at the PH31 and the Flip 4K and she picked the Flip 4K as having a better image and it looking more cinematic. She had no clue which was which. She did find that the Optoma had similar brightness, but the XGimi just looked better. For portability, I absolutely think XGimi nailed it. The size and format make it insanely easy to put in a backpack or a piece of carry on luggage. The brightness is enough for a 150" screen in a dark room, or a 100" screen with some ambient light in the room. It's also very quiet. Not as quiet as the Titan Noir, but quieter than the Optoma, and quieter than my lamp-based JVC. I would consider the brightness on par with my JVC that I run in low-lamp mode to keep noise levels down. The Elfin Flip is at full power (10), when I am using it. I ran it in a darker movie mode when I used it on the 110" screen and it looked really good. I ran it on the brighter mode when on the 161" screen. It held up really well. All that said, for actual portability, the Elfin Flip is a great choice. At about $1,500 there are better projectors. The XGimi Horizon 20 is in that list as it has zoom and lens shift for the money. But, it loses on portability. As do other models like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra or any Hisense C series model. They just don't travel well. Way up on the travel well list is the Nexigo Nova Mini. You can get it with the stand for $680 in the USA, and it is very well reviewed over at The Hook Up... [https://youtu.be/Xeugc\_Y-mFY?si=GZuXin0AjB52rV6k](https://youtu.be/Xeugc_Y-mFY?si=GZuXin0AjB52rV6k) Once again, the Nova Mini is one of those form factors that travels well and produces a very solid image. I would just say that the Elfin Flip gives better overall quality and a bit more brightness to work with. The Optoma PH31 remains the best deal going, as long as you can get it for the $300 price that pops up in some locations. It's nearly as bright as the Elfin Flip, but it lacks all the creature comforts of the Flip. So, in your case, absolutely skip the PH31. It doesn't have screen fit, it doesn't have a built in operating system, it doesn't have 4-corner keystone, or digital zoom. The operating system is super basic on it. It is super reliable and way better than the cheap single panel LCD projectors that are similar in price, but it's a long way from the modern portable models. And, the form factor isn't backpack friendly.
The LED light engine is less likely to cause sparkle and other issues compared to the laser light system. LED vs. laser is not a real discussion. Cheap LED systems, like on no-name projectors, are terrible. BenQ uses very high quality LED light systems in their models. So, instead of 200 ISO lumens, you get 3,000. So, it competes well against laser. A question would be whether you want a short throw or a standard throw model. This significantly impacts the screen size. The TK705i and the TK705STi are the same projector, but have different lenses on them, so you will get a drastically different image size from 2.3m lens to wall. (throw distance) Make sure you FULLY understand this tool... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705i-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705i-projection-calculator-pro.htm) and [https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705sti-projection-calculator-pro.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/benq-tk705sti-projection-calculator-pro.htm) The throw of the TK705i (standard throw) will give you about a 90"-100" diagonal on the opposite wall. From the same throw distance, the TK705STi (short throw) will give you about a 130" diagonal on the opposite wall. The Short Throw version has a fixed .8:1 throw ratio, so no optical zoom at all, which means you are going to be using digital correction over optical correction for the image size. Frankly, for the money, I'd get the XGimi Horizon 20. It has both lens shift and optical zoom which is really nice for making setup way easier. It is a standard throw projector, so image size will be impacted... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon\_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm#calc](https://www.projectorcentral.com/xgimi-horizon_20-projection-calculator-pro.htm#calc) 2.2m will limit your image size to 66" - 83" diagonal. That's a fair bit smaller and may not work for your desired setup. In which case, the BenQ would be a better choice.
Both models are quite good. While some are bothered by the H20 at this time, it should be correctable through firmware. The Valerion is a very good looking product as well. Realistically, either is a solid choice. I'd probably go with the H20 right now. The lens shift and zoom range makes it a really great value. Not sure you need to go to the Max unless you really are chasing brightness. On a 90" screen, that would be pretty extreme.
How much are these models? At the $1,200 price point, there is no way you shouldn't just get the Nexigo Trivision Ultra. It is FAR brighter than the models you listed. It has no zoom, but the 1.27 throw ratio is very close to the Hisense and losing a bit of light to make adjustments is going to have almost no impact at all in the real world. You have light output to spare! Plus, you can drop the light output to lower fan noise. XGimi also tends to have pretty solid audio onboard. I believe both models are covered in this review... I use a JVC DLA-X590 on a daily basis, but just installed the Valerion Max at my brother's home. I put the JVC up next to the Valerion and the Valerion was a great deal brighter and had a super punchy image. I would likely buy something like the Horizon 20 if I were looking to buy a new projector right now. I do think it's a really great buy.
