    r/projectors · Testing out Xgimi Horizon 20 Max, 5700 lumens →2025-09-06T16:50:09

Funnily, I just started looking into getting my first projector a couple of days ago, and happened to start my research on the day the Horizon 20 pre-order went live lol After tons of youtube comparisons and chatgpt conversations, this seems to have the price to performance/features I would want. But I am worried about the contrast and how deep the blacks are going to look. I made the mistake of watching Linus's video on the LS12000. That's what I would really want, but it is way out of my price range lol If this can at least be the same or better than the Valerion I think I'll pull the trigger.

r/projectors · Best projector for my use case (~€1,200 budget): BenQ TK710 vs Hisense C2 vs BenQ TK705i? →2026-06-26T14:03:56

The BenQ models are an order of magnitude brighter than the M2 Pro. In most cases, I'd try to go brighter unless budget and portability are major concerns. If buying right now, other than BenQ, the XGimi Horizon 20 remains a very strong choice and recommendation. It has extensive optical lens shift which neither BenQ model has which is great for easier projector placement.

r/projectors · Help me decide my first projector: BenQ TK705STi vs. Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus EF-72 →2026-05-27T17:32:42

I would watch this video if you haven't... [https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I\_s?si=nDNOwjPwwd5pnvRz](https://youtu.be/9QqnfJ0-I_s?si=nDNOwjPwwd5pnvRz) The Epson came in dead last when compared against the DLP competition in head-to-head testing. In other measurements, like contrast, the Epson did terrible, but the BenQ tested (GP520) did even worse. There is a long list of other models which significantly outperformed both models. That said, the TK750STi is a very different product. There is a reasonable review of the 705Sti here... [https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/benq-tk705sti-short-throw-projector-review-little-box-for-little-rooms/](https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/benq-tk705sti-short-throw-projector-review-little-box-for-little-rooms/) I think I would go elsewhere. The Horizon 20 is one of those options. Optical zoom and lens shift are massive features when you want a quick and easy setup that maximizes quality.

r/projectors · Why do most reviewers prefer xgimi over Hisense? →2026-01-17T11:18:35

I think this comment is on point. I've checked multiple reputable/serious reviewers, some of them doesn't even have a YT channel/or make videos. They all praised the Horizon 20 series. I doubt every one of them got paid to make a positive review. Of course it's not impossible, but still. However I do believe that when they review the products, they mostly do comparing with similar models. They don't do extensive testing on software features and such, which is where seems to be most of the Horizon 20's issues.

How are people going to know when the dynamic contrast is fixed? I think I would prefer to buy after this issue is fixed at the factory.

r/projectors · Xgimi horizon 20 pro or Valerion visionmaster pro →2025-11-20T19:09:49

With the Black Friday sales is it worth getting a projector from the last generation? The Visionmaster Pro 2 is I think $2299. Granted I suppose everyone has to draw a line somewhere. I would think the Horizon 20 would be the easy choice between these two and the Horizon 20 is the newer product and it's also $250 cheaper than this.

    r/projectors · Choosing the right projector →2025-10-18T21:35:32

The easiest projector to shift room to room is the Horizon 20 because of its lensshift. The Pro or base are within your budget. But beware the Xgimi and Valerion have RBE and speckle, depending on your sensitivity and screen. The Negigo doesn't have an OS so you need a firestick or apple tv etc. But it has no speckle.

Do we assume that no news means bad news? I read on Valerion group that one user saying that Horizon 20 software is buggy at this point and Valerion Max would beat it anytime. For me, Valerion Max is out of budget. I need both horizontal and vertical lens shift and so I am eagerly waiting for reviews on Horizon 20 Pro or Max to make the preorder 😔

r/projectors · best projector for apartment use? →2026-04-04T06:21:38

Given that you're in an apartment, watch mostly movies/TV/sports, want decent colors and brightness without fuss, and don't need bleeding-edge specs: BenQ TH671ST (\~$700) + a Roku or Fire TV Stick.1080p, simple, bright, gets the job done. XGIMI Horizon 20 (\~$1400). if you have 8–10 feet of throw distance. It punches way above its weight. Hisense PL2 (\~$1,800 on sale) paired with a dedicated UST screen. Sits right against the wall, looks like furniture. Hisense PX3-PRO UST (\~$3,500). Reference color, low-latency gaming, every HDR format, and it looks phenomenal with a matching UST screen. Whatever you choose, a dedicated ALR or CLR screen will dramatically improve your image versus a bare wall. A screen is typically the single biggest bang-for-buck upgrade in any projector setup.

r/xgimi · XGIMI Horizon 20 review (with measurements + comparison with Horizon 20 Max) →2025-12-12T07:32:35

ahah merci :) Yes I'm mostly referring to some USTs for the contrast because most good lifestyle projectors are somewhere around 1500:1 to 2000:1 (native sequential contrast). USTs are often much more expensive but if you take the Formovie Edge you have around 3000:1 for around 1500€. That's a pretty good deal. I have reviewed it here: [https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/](https://www.laurentwillen.com/en/test-reviews/projectors-tests-reviews/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-review/) (in English) [https://www.laurentwillen.be/gadgets/test-avis-projecteurs/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-avis/](https://www.laurentwillen.be/gadgets/test-avis-projecteurs/formovie-edge-cinema-3-test-avis/) (in French) In the lifestyle range, there are a few exceptions, mostly when using an iris. What kind of screen are you using? A white one? With a 120 inch white screen (gain 1) you should have around 1200 real lumens to be able to watch HDR in good conditions. That would more around 1800 lumens for a 0.65 gain. Your current JMGO is not bright enough to cope with big screen like this. With the Horizon 20, you would have enough brightness with a white screen, you would fall a bit short of light with an ALR screen.

r/xgimi · Recommendation - just received the XGIMI 20 Max / RS20 Ultra Max 高亮版 (Extra Bright) + accessories via Alibaba DDP to Europe/Germany →2025-12-10T21:28:33

Thanks for the reply! In dark movies DTM can be game changer. The panorma-shot of the castle in Nosferatu is without DTM just a dark building without visible details. With DTM turned on you can see the windows, doors etc. However, Nosferatu is a dark movie and it is meant to not see every detail. One more question; do you know if you can use/turn on ALLM outside Game-Mode? I thought i read that this is an option on the Horizon 20.
