r/projectors · Samsung freestyle 2 vs Wanbo mozart 1 pro 2025 There is no chance I'd buy either of these. The Samsung Freestyle has a fair number of reliability complaints with zero real support from Samsung. Wanbo probably has better support, but they make very low quality single chip LCD projectors that are known for very high failure rates. I'd look at DLP projectors from XGimi, JMGO, or others which are within your budget, or check the used market. Sounds like a reasonable budget for a good used 1080p DLP projector. Add a Firestick and call it a day.

The issue is micro-HDMI is a much weaker connection that causes many more problems than full sized HDMI connections typically have. It's a point of failure for sure. Use as lightweight of a converter/cable that you can possibly get.

It is on projectors half the size of the Samsung Freestyle. That said, at well under $500, the Freestyle is finally at the price point it should have been from day one, and if it fits the needs of someone, it can be in the running.

Embedded apps don't allow you to play games, or hook up external sources, and internal 'smart' features become outdated after a few years of use and then you need to hook up a external streaming device like a Amazon Fire TV Stick. Some people like doing this from the start as external streaming devices tend to be faster and more reliable as it is. The Freestyle 2 has good colors but it is dim compared to some other models. Not sure if you are chasing size over anything else, but this video is one to watch, and his previous shootout includes the Freestyle 2 in the lineup... I think that is mostly due to the high original MSRP for the low brightness it put out and the competition which was already out there along with the use of a tiny HDMI connection for no obvious reason other than to annoy end users. Not good that there are more significant issues with this projector though. Really, it's not like projectors are a brand new technology. Hope you get your money back easily and get a new product which does what you want it to do without headaches.
r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle 2 max distance It has NO optical zoom. If you place it at about 6m, it will produce an image over 200" diagonal. Consider how dim the projector is to begin with, that's just far too large to be usable. Digital zoom will make the image smaller, but it won't fix the lack of brightness.

I got mine for €799 from JMGO Europe site and it came with a free accessory (100" portable screen - sold for €160). There are other accessories available. Great portable projector. Twice as bright as the Samsung. Don't know about the others.

r/projectors · Is the Samsung Freestyle 2 worth it? Okay I have used it a LOT. Here's my experience: Software is amazing. You get basically a full smart hub e.g. netflix YouTube etc There is many options for adjustments and it can work in a variety of angles. It's light and portable Cable is quite long The screen clarity is a hit or miss. On a plain white wall in a dark room it's really good. In bright conditions it won't be good. It's still usable in a dimmly lit room but you can technically use it in a bright room if you move it close to the wall e.g. 15 inch display. I heavily recommend trying to just use the raw projector image without any software adjustments as it becomes less clear. Trying to just put it straight ahead at a wall typically gives me the best image. You will need a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for this projector (I'm pretty sure it's micro hdmi) if you want to use hdmi. The display size is amazing, the size is enormous, really good for split screen. One enormous downside I have is because it's not that bright, video games that are darker are really harder to see (like the caverns in James bond). In short this is a really convenient projector and doesn't feel cheap. If you just want something portable then I highly recommend it. I would like to note that on eBay you can find it for cheap as Samsung gives them out for free with TV's a lot.

Using the power adapter that comes with the box is good enough. If you are worried about HDMI cable, than use it to connect other device to check. Like TV set-top box. I did it and my TV signal was connected, so I changed the power adapter for nintendo dock and it works fine.

I bought this cable to convert HDMI to micro and it worked like a charm. Originally I tried with the insignia one that I got at best buy, which was a HDMI to micro HDMI but didn't work. The prices for the models I mentioned are 800 and 950 USD. Nexigo doesn’t seem to have distribution in Europe and the Xgimi looks very good, but is about double the price. I don’t really have a strict budget, but I feel like I don’t need to go overboard, just something a lot sharper and a moderately brighter than the ~200 lumen Samsung.

If you liked the Freestyle 1 and don’t want to fuss too much, the Freestyle 2 on promo is the easiest lateral move: same compact form factor, quick auto-setup, and built-in apps. Its input lag is on the high side, but it’s roughly in the same range as the 1st gen, so if you were happy gaming on that you should feel similar with the 2nd. If you’re mainly shopping for a small portable gaming projector, though, models like the XGIMI Halo+, MoGo 4, or MoGo 3 Pro are more responsive and often cheaper than the Samsung. You could also look for a dedicated gaming projector like the BenQ TH671ST or ViewSonic PX701-4K on the used market, which are big upgrades for latency and overall gaming performance compared to the Freestyle.

r/projectors · Is the Samsung Freestyle 2 worth it? Honestly, I dont understand the hate toward not having a full-size HDMI. This won't be used for home cinema, it is a consumer product that my GF is going to put next to her bed to play some movies late at night; a very casual product. Why do you need a full HDMI for anything here? Do we expect to use a less than $400 projector for 20 years, being concerned about the port not being durable? it is a technology product, in 5 years, a similar projector would be priced at $60! And this channel, although very respectable and has one of the best reviews for projectors I have seen, is comparing FS Gen 1 from 3 years ago, priced at $800, with others, which definitely don't make sense to buy. FS Gen 1 was simply not that good for that price range. Many things have changed, and although the Gen 2 specs are not a big improvement compared to Gen 1, the price tag is much lower. For example, Gen 1 was getting compared with BenQ GV50, and it couldn't stand its ground, but Gen 2 is close to half the price of BenQ GV50, and is now a pretty good option to consider. Not to mention that it has a lot of features that similarly priced alternatives don't which might be worthless for people like us that have all the other shit to daisy chain, but is a very useful addition to normal consumers.

Either it doesn't work till after a few resets or the picture will be red or static-y for like 5 minutes till it goes normal. Could you recommend something in a reasonable price bracket with hdmi erc for my sound system? I cant spend another 650 on one and it can't be too large either no where to hang it, the freestyle is on a small wall mounted shelf currently. Waiting to get something expensive and much better till after we get a house. Aiming to have a movie theater type setup in the basement if we can find the right house.

I had a Freestyle 2nd Gen that randomly stopped working, and I need to replace it. After much deliberation, I decided to go with the Xgimi Mogo 3 Pro because of its very similar form factor, amongst other reasons. A major deciding factor was that it was on sale on Best Buy Canada's website for a significant discount, so of course, it might not be the right choice for you, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I'm far from knowledgeable in the projector world, I'm I'm looking for an upgrade on my cheap Amazon projector I picked up a couple of years ago, now don't get me wrong it works, and I like it for casual movie watching in bed. But text is unreadable and that rules out it for gaming. Here is my lack of knowledge showing, as I don't know the best way to describe it in any technical terminology, when I look at the projected image on the wall you can see the gaps between all the dots. From what I've read and researched the Samsung Freestyle is crap, using the Samsung name to sell. I'm looking for an upgrade too, similar budget to you, second hand seems to the way to go, but I'm liking the look of the XGIMI EFLIN FLIP, seems to have good reviews

I reco a lot of projectors on here, mainly what we call "Cheap Chinese Junk". Im a big believer of CCJ but I came into this space about 2 years ago. Before that they really all sucked and a lot of these guys still think theyre pure sht cos they buy expensive ones. The short throw ask...not going to happen. But, youre not sht out of luck. First forget about the Freestyle. Portable pjs suck for in home use. So, there are 100 brands of pjs on Amazon and they market all of them so they seem all the same and good. I reco models from companies that have built a name, have good service after the sale and make solid products. My main brand cos Ive used several is WIMIUS. You wont get a bad model from them and if anything is defective they will take care of you. That being said theyre behind a few others when it comes to brightness right now. I'll have to look more into the sub $500 projectors he mentioned in there. Good to know, the brightness is definitely what I was most worried about considering how significantly dimmer than most other projectors in its price range it seems to be on paper. Thanks!

But it's now $799 instead of $599, and meanwhile I can find the Freestyle 2 on secondhand marketplaces for $399. Except it doesn't sound as appealing anymore. Guess I'll sit on it :(

r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle 2- YouTube app not working … I only had issue with the projector but nothing else. Their support is awesome. Never have qiluality issue with Samsung. Samsung gave replacement to my wife's Galaxy Watch4 Classic 3 times even though she made a false claim. You can get multiple items for the price of 1 if you can manipulate the customer support guys in Samsung.

r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle 2023 Second Generation Review It happens after while and you have to clean the sensor lenses. I had this happen to me a few times and found once I cleaned off the dust on the tiny sensors it would immediately focus again, wasn't a bug, just bad engineering. Try it out when it happens again.

r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle 2023 Second Generation Review Got mine yesterday, figured out if you keep moving it the auto focus does not play well, so you have to goto settings and reset auto focus and it works. I like my device so far, its great in the dark and just wish it was 4k though.

r/projectors · Samsung Freestyle 2023 Second Generation Review It sounds like you need to adjust your settings. I have no issues seeing in light unless you got it some sort of sunroom. You may need to manually focus the project and put it in game mode for better color if that's what you want.

r/budgetprojectors · XGIMI Mogo 2 Pro or Samsung Freestyle Gen 2? Also in SE Asia. Haven't tried the XGIMI, but got my girlfriend the Freestyle 2 a little while back. So far it's been great except for one thing, but definitely needs a dark area, but this is true of all small projectors. The issue is that twice now her laptop (Lenovo running Win 10) as has abruptly just stopped connecting to the projector and doesn't recognize it. First time it did this I tried all sorts of things to get it to connect and finally the only thing that worked was to update Windows (after having told both the laptop and the projector to forget each other). After the update ran the setup again and it connected fine. That was a few weeks ago. It's just done this again today. Told here to try a few things via chat, but nothing worked, and there is no Windows update to try, so until I get back down to her place this evening it's down for the count. It's frustrating as I can't seem to identify what's going on. The issue seems to be a Windows one though. Even when it's not connected to the computer the projector itself works fine as an independent unit.

r/projectors · Small projector for a small home? Looks, portability and brightness. Does it exist? Using the samsung freestyle 2 as the benchmark for price, I would consider the xgimi halo+ or an epson home cinema 660, 800, 1080, 980, EH-TW6250 as. The epson's are probably American model numbers, so I apologize if they aren't directly available in Denmark. These all have higher brightness than the samsung freestyle. The xgimi halo+ is made to be more portable with lifestyle features like auto focus and keystone but the brightness is less than the epsons. They have pretty good brightness for a portable projector though. They should be similar price to the freestyle 2, especially if you buy first party refurbished from xgimi. The epson 660, 800, 1080, 1060, 980 are not exactly portable but they are pretty small. They have minimal lifestyle/convenience features but they have very high brightness. The Epson EH-TW6250 is bright but also bigger than the others.
