r/projectors · Thinking about the AWOL LTV-3500 Pro vs Epson LS800 for my living room—any thoughts? Yes on ALR or Fresnel for daytime watching. I also suggest the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII. Its unbelievable. Best contrast levels and black levels of all USTs. Rabidly active community that keeps tweaking and improving it. Great customer support putting out firmware updates that keep improving the picture. I predict it will win the UST shootout this year. Otherwise, Hisense PX3 Pro.

r/projectors · Thinking about the AWOL LTV-3500 Pro vs Epson LS800 for my living room—any thoughts? As an Epson owner I'm potentially biased, but the LTV 3500 is very bright and has absolute ass black level. For bright material it can look good but in dark scenes it's absolutely terrible and also quite expensive. The Epson isn't the greatest at black level but it's pretty decent on 70% power and with dynamic contrast on, it depends on the viewer and what they expect. If rainbow effect isn't a bugaboo for you personally, there's the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII and the Hisense PX3-Pro which both beat the Epson and AWOL easily, though Epson has some specific advantages - first, the shortest throw on the market so easier to place, and it's 3LCD so it has zero rainbow effect.
r/projectors · Upgrading from Epson LS300 Most newer UST's have very good to outstanding gaming lag. The $2400 price point is a bit tricky, the LS800 might be reduced there now because it's older (and, well, it's not a bad projector at all, all modern UST's have good image quality). You should be able to find a Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII at under $3000 but perhaps not a lot under. The PX3 Pro perhaps also. In your shoes, I might sit tight with the LS300 until the third quarter and see if Nexigo does a Kickstarter for the MK3, or Hisense the PX4. The Aetherion Max would have been great but I think it's too late to get in on that Kickstarter.
r/projectors · Best 4K projector under 3k? Actually, it was easily beaten by both the PX3 Pro and the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII in the comparo The Hook Up did.
r/projectors · Which Epson UST? It's also worth mentioning here that if you don't have an issue with the rainbow effect, there are several UST's now that beat all Epsons, including the LS800. The LS800 is great for no rainbow, and for the shortest throw on the market, but a Nexigo Aurora Pro MK II will beat it in just about every way otherwise, except pure firepower (and using 100% of hte firepower makes it *loud* so it's less than great for movie watching at over 70% brightness.)
r/projectors · Replacing Broken 100" Hisense TV – Feedback on LS800 + 132" ALR Screen Setup? I'm pretty happy with my LS800, the key is to find an ALR screen that has low gain. The projector needs low gain to achieve good blacks. I honestly think that when The Hook Up (awesome though his comparos are) ran it on a Formovie Fresnel screen with 1.0 gain or some such it suffered for that. Anyway, the Nothing Projector is 0.6 so it should work very well. However, daytime viewing... bright rooms... there is *no* projector that performs in those circumstances. An ALR screen does permit viewing and gives you an enjoyable-ish image but it's a far cry from what it looks like in the dark. [ALR Screen VS White WALL - Side by Side Comparison in Different Lighting Conditions | Chris Maher, YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG1rVFTnkuE) gives some indication but that's not direct sunlight or anything. So if you're not willing to install black-out drapes, you're not going to be happy with any projector. Also, realistically the Epson needs to be run at about 70% laser power. At that point, the fan shuts up. Now, it has so much light that's more than fine but even so, you won't be firing 4000 lumens at the screen at all times. So I'd really advise against any projector if you're not going to light control. The blackest black your screen will ever be is the color of the screen in whatever light you're in. In a room with huge glass doors, that's going to be pretty darn pale. USt's are great. I love mine. But I do darken the room. And these days, if I were shopping, I'd probably buy a Nexigo Aurora Pro MK II instead, just to get more contrast.
r/projectors · What would be the best 4k projector for under $4000 for this room? Since I really like UST projectors I'd have said "Nexigo Aurora Pro MK II" - $3 grand + $1 grand for an UST specific ALR screen, but with the ceiling mount and screen already there I guess that's out. The Valerion projectors are hard to look past at this price point, they're embarrassing more established brands right now. However, I'd still replace the screen with Valerion's long throw Fresnel ALR screen. Also, what is that, a screen for mice? 100 inches in that space? Get a 150 and drop it low. This screen is mounted too high anyway.
r/projectors · Help. Looking for a UST Projector that just does display There's no UST that doesn't have speakers and some kind of operating system, I'm afraid. The LS800 does have a game mode that bypasses everything and I use it as just a display that way. It's the easiest to place when it comes to the furniture etc, you get the closest to the wall and closest to the bottom of the screen, but I honestly don't think it's the best projector for all use cases. It's good if you are sensitive to rainbow effect and it's easiest to place as noted. The best for dark room viewing is probably the Nexigo Aurora Pro. The overall best seem to be the new PX3 Pro or the Formovie Theater Premium. There's a Nexigo Aurora Pro Mk 2 in pre-order, pay $50 and you can buy that for $1999... in, I believe, March. That has a solid chance of being the new leader - at least in theory. Either way, they can all be turned on to a HDMI port to display the image, you don't need to use the internal OS to view anything.

r/projectors · UST Recommendations Hisense PX3- Pro Vs AWOL LTV-3500 Vs NexiGo Aurora Pro Imo get nexigo ap mk2 and their combo alr screen (if you need brighter pq they have 1.8 gain day screen)
r/projectors · Best $2k-$3k lifestyle projector late 2025 It's not just the windows but you need to treat the surrounding walls, floor and ceiling around your screen as it will reflect light and will affect contrast. If you don't want a cave, then ust + alr will be the better route. Both of your choices are tri lasers so you better check your sensitivity to rbe and speckle. Also, imo both are "old" model and it would be better for you to get newer one with iris, free native contrast booster. If you are sensitive to rbe, you can consider nexigo trivision ultra (mk2 coming soon) and aurora pro mk2. If you're ok with rbe, can consider dangbei ultra s7 max, it's like ~38% brighter than pro2 and has better native contrast.
r/projectors · Optoma P1 upgrade, AWOL Aetherion Max vs Valerion VisionMaster Max, UST or long throw? Wtf wdym long throw is better? Fyi ust are where the new long throw gets innovation trickle down. You see the likes of valerion, nebula getting 3-4k native contrast - ust has them for years already. Even now the only usable dynamic iris is ust like nexigo ap mk2 - valerion had to cancel theirs despite writing it on their lens (shows how far behind ust that LT are at now). Valerion newest and best projector? - a new ust. Although LT do have higher ansi contrast in comparison to ust but most room or even a cave won't see a difference. However, do note awol / valerion has history of making empty promises and false claims. They previously gave out golden unit with black iris that has better ansi contrast while then quietly changed to lesser silver iris. Their max which they claim to be 15% brighter than pro2 turns out to be even dimmer post calibration. Imo better to get hisense or nexigo for ust, or wait for more options.
r/projectors · Choosing the right projector A few of those that you listed are tri lasers which has better contrast but it has rbe and speckle issues that may bother to those sensitive to it. Out of the above choices I'll pick trivision but if you want tri lasers, i'll suggest dangbei ultra s7. You might also want to consider ust + alr combo. Nexigo aurora pro mk2 is nice and it has screen combo deal. If you use it with a lot of ambient light can get the daylight screen.
r/projectors · Valerion Pro 2 and understanding screen light bounce/bleed Imo it depends on which kind of room you prefer to view your content. Some do prefer the cave as it's more "cinematic", while others prefer a normal room and some even prefer to have the room with lights on. For speckle, you need to see it yourself as you might be ok with it or you don't even see it. Wab or spandex is a way to reduce the speckle. You can also consider alpd or hybrid projector as they have less speckle. Imo don't get a long throw like valerion pro2/ max and use it with alr/clr screen as long throw ones don't work as well. If you need alr/clr screen then go for ust. There's the upcoming nexigo ap mk2 and hisense px4 pro. For screen size 150" will definitely be a nice experience but if you rather not deal with a completely dark room or alr screen then imo going for 98" tv is the better choice. However, do note if you can fit the tv into your house as mine is limited to 86", like physically can't even fit into the door.
r/projectors · What’s better for watching movies? Valerion VisionMaster Pro or Pro 2? It is that easy on the characteristics of a projectors. You just need to choose. Can't have your cake and eat too then say it's not easy. Valerion is a long throw, nexigo ap mk2 is an ultra short throw. More suitable for your needs.
r/projectors · Help choosing a $5,000 projector What makes you think ust doesn't have black level the same as long throw? That's a surprising take imo. Yes they all are as good or even better than long throw dlp not name christie. I think you're confusing long throw lcos like jvc for black level though. Fyi the current long throw contrast numbers are now only reaching ust level to hit 3000-4000 contrast ratio due to iris. Ust has already hit that level few years earlier.
r/projectors · Projector Recommendation Request - $3000 budget Check your sensitivity to rbe and speckle. Can consider nebula x1, dangbei s7 max and nexigo ap mk2. Don't get Valerion pro2 or any others without iris. It's like free 2x contrast booster.

r/projectors · Help me choose my first projector – AWOL Aetherion Max vs Hisense Vidda C3 Ultra If you want best contrast possible I would get Nexigo aurora pro mk 2 instead. It should be fine for a 100-120" in a darker room and have better contrast then upper mentioned models, but if you do need the extra brightness AWOL might be worth considering as well.
r/projectors · Valerion VisionMaster Pro vs OLED If you a want a projector which can offer close to OLED level black's you have 3 options: Nexigo aurora pro mk 2 (2500€), Valerion visionmaster max (4000-5000€) or JVC nz models (5000€+). So with your budget an OLED would be a better choice because at that price range all pj's have pretty crappy contrast.
r/projectors · Best $2k-$3k lifestyle projector late 2025 If you can afford it get the Nexigo aurora pro mk 2, it has insane contrast combined with an ALR screen. Valerion visionmaster 2 pro or Hisense will be brighter but have significantly lower contrast so you would have to step to something like Visionmaster max in that case.
r/projectors · Valerion Max Launch Value Max will have a decent brightness bump but a masive contrast increase, so if you want the best possible contrast and combined with high brightness get the max. Pro 2 will give you good brightness with ok'ish contrast so get it if you only need the brightness and want to save the cash, if you want the best contrast and don't need the best brightness i would look at Nexigo aurora mk II pro which will have Max level contrast for around 2k cheaper.
r/projectors · Valerion VisionMaster Pro vs OLED That's why i said close and not a perfect match, such projectors also have some dimming and iris artifacts. But it's not like OLEDs are perfect either, personally I can't stand the terrible low brightness uniformity you get with those and burn in can be a problem for some people as well. So it's a personal choice what you want to compromise on

r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? Protip, clean your lense (very carefully). My unit doesn't have perfect uniform focus across the screen, which is unfortunate, but I was able to at least improve the overall focus by cleaning the lense. It was brand new out of box, I didn't think I would need to do that but the improvement was noticable.
r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? No but any screen should be vertically flat. Also the projector should be horizontally flat. Meaning no keystone should be needed.
r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? That sounds like a focus issue. Make sure the sides of the screen are perfectly straight upwards. And make sure you have no keystone.
r/projectors · 4K 3D Projector I had the PX3 pro but sold it to get the Aurora Pro mk 2. I didn't do it for 3d but the 3d does look better on the mk 2
r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? No. I have 3 cats so I just learned I need to give it a 5 second clean every few weeks.
r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? I got mine two months ago and the firmware was pre-release. I know professional reviewers have been burned (by us) by testing a projector before the firmware is fully baked. Maybe that's why some are waiting? I don't know. There was a firmware update like a week ago but I haven't had time to update yet. The firmware is the weakness of the projector so updates are very welcome. I posted my personal short review in a nother threat. Basically it's amazing but it's most-advertised feature, the iris, is broken/useless and must be disabled in the pre-release firmware.

r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? That’s probably why most people are happy with the updates, so there is nothing to discuss or complain about.
r/projectors · Nexigo Aurora Pro MkII / MK2 Why so few reviews? You can check the avsforum thread, and it seems the latest firmware is a big progress. Real customers’ feedback is more important than paid reviewers’, but definitely fewer reviews may hurt their sales.
r/hometheater · Help a Noob Choose 120" UST + Screen ($5k Budget) - LS800 vs. Aurora Pro vs. Others? You have a well-lit room. If you need some extra brightness, the Aurora Pro MKII plus Fresnel screen should be much better suited for your space. The LS800 is not great for contrast, but it’s great for a bright room setup.
r/projectors · Which Epson UST? If you plan to change to an ALR screen, I would suggest looking at Nexigo Aurora Pro or MKII bubble with a Fresnel screen. It’s bright enough for your room and very cost-effective.

r/projectors · Upgrading from Epson LS300 hey! any updates? how are you liking the Grand Plus? I was about to order the NexiGo Aurora Pro MKII, but I saw the Epson Life studio Grand Plus was on sale, $800 off. it will effectively only need a few hundred more expensive than the Nexigo. I'm leaning more towards the Epson forna dark light controlled home theater. I was thinking of getting a Dark Gray projector screen to use some of the brightness and make up for the contrast.

r/projectors · Making a decision by the end of the week. C2 ultra or Xgimi horizon 20 max Xgimi horizon 20 max is very bright and it can be too much for cinema room even on lowest setting. You can go with 20 pro for lower brightness. Unfortunately, the black floor of either projector is not all that good and it is a widespread issue in sub 3000 projector market. You can increase perceived contrast by using letnicular screen in cinema room or Fresnel screen in living room. Some calibration can also make blacks look more black. You can also try Nebula x1 pro for better black performance or nexigo aurora pro mkii. They roll out updates to dynamic iris for x1 model as well.

r/projectors · Help deciding what way to go Update: setup the floor rising screen and ended up getting both the Valerion and the Nexigo Aurora pro MKII. Currently I have the screen on the floor in front of my entertainment center, this makes the screen a little closer than I would like. First I setup the Aurora watched a movie on it and even coming from an OLED the black levels were amazing. On issue is that the overall picture is dim except in DV/HDR he bright scenes. The setup is a PIA each time I need to setup the projector position and everyone says not to use keystone as it lowers picture quality. So it takes me about 10 min to get it right. Looking to try a solution to make it easier to position. Next the Valerion. I set it up on a barstool and on top of the box, this made the height about 37” about enough to clear the back of the couch. I aimed it at the screen and with very little effort got it dialed in perfectly. Picture was way brighter than the Nexigo, also had amazing black levels. I did have some issues with a bright line on the screen caused by a reflection from the projector along with RBE and speckle. The next day, went to watch a movie, now with the wife and dogs, here is where the issues started. The projector placement was now if my wife wanted to move around on her side of the couch. The dogs walk on the back of the couch a lot and would block the image or even worse they continually looked into the light of the projector. So ultimately I have to use a UST projector. There was no place I could place the valerion that would work, even tried off center but then I hade alignment issues. So next step is figuring out a way to move the projector back and forth and position it for easy setup.

r/projectors · Hisense L9Q Delivered! I need L9Q owners to chime in! I bought the Nexigo Aurora Pro MK2 based on "The Hook Up" YouTube channel. The black level is really good, but I not happy with the daylight performance, as well as the yellow tint in 3D mode. I am now on the fence on the L9Q. Since I don't have any local places to really see projectors I would have to pay a percentage on restocking fee on a $6k unit if I don't like it. As there been any improvement with the black levels since the "The Hook Up" review? Is it possible to lower the laser power level for dark room viewing, which I think might help with the black levels? I use Calman Studio + C6 HD5000 + G1 for calibrating all my devices so at least in SDR content I can calibrate it to a 80nts (if there is way to turn down the laser) I am not sure if the L9Q has ability to lower power level in HDR/DV

r/projectors · Which Epson UST? I took a look at that. The Epson is a little brighter and can save a few inches in the front. As for rainbow effect, it's questionable. With this BenQ projector, when I first bought it eight years ago, I used to notice the rainbow a lot. Maybe now that I'm well into my 40s, I don't see it as much anymore. So, I don't know if it's old age or the way the projector is configured. Before, it was much closer to the screen and actually provided its full brightness. Now it's twice as far and only projecting 720p. I know the modern USTs are a little better about rainbow, but these would also be much brighter and closer to the screen. I might need to walk into a showroom and see for myself. But it was one reason for putting the LS800 at the top.

r/projectors · Should I upgrade to Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII from AWOL 3000 Pro Check out the Hisense PX3-Pro. It will be a massive upgrade over the awol and be much brighter than the nexigo.

I can assure you I am not a salesman for any brand. My job is to verify claims and judge relative performance of each projector within a category. You mentioned that you bought a Pro 2 and are no longer a fan of Valerion, is that because you ultimately ended up with a different projector that you like more? If so which one? I stick by my statement that for people looking for a standard throw projector the Pro 2 is still the highest performance per dollar available until XGIMI can fix DBLE. As mentioned by Chaiscool, I use a Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII in my personal setup, not only because I prefer UST screens, but I also like ALPD light sources more than triple laser due to extremely mild protan color blindness that makes it more difficult for me to perceive the entire color volume of the red laser in a tri-laser.
