|---|---|---|

r/projectors · Seeking help on projector replacement Fyi Alr / clr screen don't play nice with rgb triple laser projector, you'll get speckle city. You can skip Valerion, hisense and nebula if you want to reuse that screen.
r/projectors · Post firmware: nebula X1 vs valerion Pro 2 vs max Imo x1 pro is better than pro 2 due to iris so it will be closer to the max. However, iirc x1 doesn't have rbe reduction feature. So if you're sensitive to rbe, get valerion or xgimi as they have reduction feature.
r/projectors · Unpopular Opinion: Are We Experiencing Peak Hype? My Take on the Valerion VisionMaster Max (And the Echo Chamber Review Culture) Best part is when you call out such people they hide and say they're not "reviewers" but just someone giving feedback. While Valerion feature them in a video hyping the product for marketing, they also eat dinner with Valerion team during conference. So for example the person say valerion max is brighter than nebula x1 despite x1 having extra headroom, the person just reply it's what they can see. So no need to post actual lumens numbers and simply say brighter while not even under NDA but is just being respectful to them by not giving out the numbers. Now it turns out the valerion max is even dimmer than the pro2 lol. Even if your points are valid and correcting the person, they would play victim card and act like they're being harassed while ignoring the points made were needed to correct them.
r/projectors · Quick question regarding Valerion Visionmaster Max Can say the same with another nice pj dangbei s7 too. Except the pro2 don't perform as well as x1 and s7 as they have iris.
r/projectors · Epson 6050UB or Valerion VisionMaster Pro2 in 2026 Tbf it's competition like dangbei s7 and nebula x1 are around that price. The max retail price is absurd.
r/projectors · Need advice to choose between Xgimi Horizon 20/20 pro vs Valerion visionmaster pro 2 Sure great if you have a proper room but at the retail price imo the likes of nebula x1 will be a better value. Maybe dangbei s7 max too, as both have iris like valerion max.
r/projectors · Unpopular Opinion: Are We Experiencing Peak Hype? My Take on the Valerion VisionMaster Max (And the Echo Chamber Review Culture) Iirc nexigo has something similar to fixed iris as it limits the brightness. I prefer ust due to better and easier choice of alr screen. Xgimi 20, nebula x1 are different than nexigo alpd ones fyi. So your sensitivity to rbe and speckle matters in such choice. It's not that nebula x1 doesn't suffer sub issue, it's inherent to all dynamic dimming and nebula has one too. However, if you disable nebula subpar dynamic, then their native contrast with iris won't have such issue. Native contrast in the nebula x1 has the advantage over Valerion whose advantage is the ebl which works great if you don't use subtitles. Nebula version of ebl is not great so it's not really a loss for users using subtitles. Nebula x1 lens is sharper but cpu is laggier and has more rbe than the significantly more expensive valerion max though.
r/projectors · Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 Wdym, ain't that the point of iris is to trade brightness for contrast? Like lose 40-50% brightness for 2x contrast. Yeah their cpu is rather weak
r/projectors · Testing out Xgimi Horizon 20 Max, 5700 lumens X1 likely is better but has rbe issue, even Valerion max couldn't beat its numbers outside of ebl.
r/projectors · Deciding between Valerion Pro 2 and Vidda C3 ultra They are all good but rbe is an issue, it can be very bad for some people so be careful. Imo if you can't test it then you can try waiting for more companies to tackle it. The valerion pro2 at that price imo is not worth it considering newer models like nebula x1 and xgimi 20 have more features for around the same price.
r/projectors · Projector Recommendation Request - $3000 budget Check your sensitivity to rbe and speckle. Can consider nebula x1, dangbei s7 max and nexigo ap mk2. Don't get Valerion pro2 or any others without iris. It's like free 2x contrast booster.
r/projectors · Xigimi Titan vs Valerion Max Do you have the room that's dark enough for iris to matter? Do you watch content with subtitles? Your light control as in black wall / ceiling and floor kind of room or just no window? Max over titan will be if you have a room dark enough and don't use subtitles. Titan is significantly brighter. Actually even if you pick max, I rather go for the brighter nebula x1 which has dynamic iris or brighter dangbei s7 (ai mode) Valerion requires additional fan - need at least 140mm one stick to its side to prevent throttling, looks ugly though. Also, might need a towel or foam to rest as some report unwanted noise / rattling.
r/projectors · Hisense C2 Ultra vs Valerion Pro 2 Questions Sure 2x native contrast losing out, drink that dynamic contrast kool aid. You must be confusing pro2 and the max cause x1 has iris. Lol avs ppl chasing ghost. Troll? Wtf 7 year old account is now a troll account? Easier explanation is avs ppl just seeing ghost.
r/projectors · Hisense C2 Ultra vs Valerion Pro 2 Questions Imo neither, should get something with iris as it's a free 2x contrast booster. Consider the likes of nebula x1, dangbei s7 max etc. Also, ebl in Valerion doesn't work with subtitles or non dim scenes. So if you don't have a cave and don't watch foreign contents or non dark movies then it doesn't really matter imo.

r/projectors · Projector Recommendations Around $3-$4k I’d either jump on kickstarter and get the XGIMI Titan noir max for $3k or get a nebula x1 for $3k from soundcore new or if your a gambler Amazon has some refurbished for $1800 . Couldn’t tell you why they’re refurbished. I own the visionmaster max , nebula x1 pro and they both look really good , hopefully they’ll outlast the extended warranty from purchasing early on kickstarter but I do believe their rated for 25k hours of use . Currently waiting on the aetherion max ( ust version of the visionmaster max basically ) , and I’m also purchasing the Titan noir max as soon as the kickstarter ends in about three weeks. Also factor in the price of a screen that helps minimize laser speckle it’s an issue with laser projectors but not a big issue with the right screen .

r/projectors · At $2500, looking for the best 4K projector, narrowed it down to 4 options but still going in circles You’ve got a strong shortlist, and in a dedicated dark room for movies, the Epson 5050UB still stands out for its black levels and overall cinematic image, which is why it keeps coming up even over budget. The BenQ W4000i is probably the closest alternative if you want a more modern feel with good color accuracy, while the Hisense C2 Ultra and Nebula X1 lean more toward feature-heavy options but can be a bit less consistent. If you want something that just delivers a natural, film-like picture on a 120" screen, I’d lean 5050UB or W4000i. As a side note, the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is a nice example of a newer, easy-to-use projector with great out-of-box color, even if it’s not directly competing in this price range.
r/hometheater · Help with a new home theater setup Your setup looks solid for that basement, especially pairing a long throw projector with an ALR screen since you’ll have some ambient light. Between your options, the BenQ W4100i is generally the safer pick for more accurate movie image quality, while the Nebula X1 focuses more on convenience and all-in-one use. Your screen and Sonos plan also fit the mixed-use space well. If you want a simpler, more budget-friendly alternative, the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is worth considering, it has strong brightness, good color, and easy setup, but it’s more of a lifestyle projector than a dedicated home cinema model.

r/projectors · At $2500, looking for the best 4K projector, narrowed it down to 4 options but still going in circles Honestly, it depends on how much you value modern amenities. If you only want top-notch image quality, have your own dedicated streamer, don’t care about a built-in smart OS, and can deal with the size/age of the platform, the 5050UB is still a very solid purchase, especially if you can find a good refurb or used model. If you care more about modern features, the Hisense C2 Ultra definitely offers more for the money. It’s brighter, more compact, has a much more modern feature set, and is easier to live with, though I’d understand wanting to buy it from somewhere with an easy return/warranty process given the mixed QC reports. The Nebula X1 is also very good for image quality, but the main drawback, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, is the sluggish OS. It really is quite slow. The BenQ W4000i has good image accuracy, wide color, decent placement flexibility, and makes sense if you want a natural-looking image without going all-in on smart features. The one thing I’d double-check is throw distance: with a 120" screen, 14ft may be too far depending on whether that’s lens-to-screen distance and how fixed your placement is, so make sure that works for you.

r/projectors · Deciding between Valerion Pro 2 and Vidda C3 ultra Pro 2 are deals at $2k. Value King is Nebula X1 and Nexigo Trivision for $1.6k. Pass this price point is diminishing returns similar to 100 inch mini-LED TV, cameras & optics.
r/projectors · XGIMI Aura 2 vs XGIMI HORIZON 20 Pro Actually Nebula X1 has 7.1 good sound by Anker Soundcore . Its only 1600 for the base. Another good deal is Vision Master Pro 2 for as low as 1800. XGIMI Horizon 20 has better blacks than Pro/Max. See the Hookup new video. Max is better with light bleed.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? They're a bunch of side-by-side pictures in the nebula form of an owner that has both and the pro 2 PQ is far better, especially in dark scenes when the ebl kicks in
r/projectors · Hisense C2 Ultra vs Valerion Pro 2 Questions The X1 1 and the Valerian have a ton of side by sides. The Valerian has much better PQ. Of course you already know that And created about 10 troll accounts on the AVS and got banned using the same name you're using now. The S7 does look compelling but I would wait until an international version comes out and we won't really know for about another week or two until some members get that projector in their hands and compare it directly to the Valerian or other tri laser projectors that they
r/projectors · Visionmaster pro 2 vs TK710sti Not the case as the Nebula is not even in Valerians class yet. There are comparison videos available and in The X1 thread on AVS forums there are user with both projectors. The Pro 2 has the better PQ. They may have been the sentiment before people had the projector and just read the specs
r/projectors · Hisense C2 Ultra/Vidda C3 ultra/XGIMI Horizon 20 Pro I just noticed the C2 is not in the Video but was in his prior comparison video and it did not far nearly as well as the winner Projector the Valerian Pro 2. I would add another Projector to look at would be the Nebula X1. It just received some beta updates to it Iris and dynamic dimming that are a game changer. A new updated review will be coming out soon by the same reviewer

r/projectors · Trying to decide on next projector (Nebula X1, Valerion Visionmaster Pro 2, XGMI Horizon 20 Max or other?) I believe they both have the same optical zoom but not 100% sure. Between those two, the Nebula will be better if you're using subtitles. If not then it's a bit of a toss up but Nebula has had some very good sales lately. Pro2 has a great picture when using EBL whereas the Nebula uses an iris to get its contrast.
r/projectors · Trying to decide on next projector (Nebula X1, Valerion Visionmaster Pro 2, XGMI Horizon 20 Max or other?) Yes: - Valerian's whole claim to fame is their EBL (enhanced black level) which is a proprietary algorithm that they use to achieve strong image contrast, and as a result great picture quality. The Pro2 is recognized for achieving excellent contrast when using EBL. However, EBL is not perfect. Some users report colour shifting or flickering when using EBL. This is commonly seen when using subtitles because the subtitles are adding another bright element to the image and EBL struggles with normal subtitles. So, when watching content with subtitles with EBL, you will see colour shifting, flickering, or other artifacts. There are work arounds for this but it involves buying a different media player and changing the colour of the subtitles which is a lot of work imo. For most people this is irrelevant but for me I use subtitles all the time so it's a deal breaker. - The Nebula on the other hand achieves great contrast using an iris, which is a physical mechanism that limits the amount of light coming out of the projector. I believe there are 5 or 7 different iris levels but not sure. So depending on your use case, you can set the iris setting to give the image as much brightness as you want while maximizing contrast. Because an iris is a physical mechanism (not an algorithm) it enhances image contrast regardless of using subtitles. TLDR: Valerian uses EBL (software) to achieve great contrast. EBL struggles with subtitles. Nebula uses an iris to achieve great contrast and is not affected by subtitles.

r/projectors · Best 4K projector under 3k? EBL produces typical adverse effects: visible pumping, color drift (particularly in reds) and overall image instability. For accurate cinema reproduction, it's best to avoid this mode and concentrate on other available adjustments. If that is not important to you ("accurate cinema reproduction" is just measurements, not how you enjoy what you see), then by all mean go for the Valerion as they are the best in the market. Without EBL, both the XGimi H20 Max and Pro are better out the box in D65 film mode. Ditto for the Nebula X1. All those projectors are really good nonetheless.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? I own both. The short answer is that the valerion is a better projector in terms of image quality and responsiveness. However, the nebula x1 is very flexible and much easier to set up in different environments. I use the nebula as an outdoor projector and for events, but keep the valerion in my dedicated home theatre. The valerion is really fantastic, and I love it. Smarter people than me have said all the different technical aspects of it that I am sure you are familiar with. The nebula, has imo a very similar image quality but loses out on the EBL that the valerion has. That’s the biggest difference and is ultimately a worthwhile deciding factor. However, if you don’t have a dedicated home theatre and plan to use your projector outside or bring it to events, I would go for the nebula for the sheer convenience. It’s a bit laggy - which can be frustrating- but is otherwise a very seamless experience. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? For real, screen reflections are THE WORST. No contest there. I’ve seen that video before. I don’t really know what to think about it as my own experience has been VASTLY different. My experience has been that an OLED or mini LED direct view display will trump any projector in black level, brightness, sharpness, color saturation, or any other category of evaluation at the same size. But when you get over 98” (or 83” for OLED) a direct view display is cost prohibitive. So if you absolutely must have a larger screen, there’s no better option than a projector, and the Pro2 or X1 are fine choices. I love my JVC NX7 on my 120” screen for immersion. I get it. It hits different. But if you take those projectors and cast them to a 83 or 98 inch size and compare to OLED or mini LED, the direct view displays will have better picture quality. Maybe not immersion or overall enjoyability which is highly individually subjective. But PQ is an easy win.
r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? If you’re used to an OLED and you value picture quality above all else… you won’t like either one of them. I have an a80j, a Bravia 8, and a JVC NX7. The projector is fun because of immersion, but it’s nowhere near the picture quality of either of the OLED screens. And the JVC is considerably superior to either the X1 or Pro2. If I were you, consider the 98” Bravia 5 if you want something close to OLED in PQ and want a more immersive experience than your 77”.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? I recently went down the rabbit hole of this as well! I forgot which thread on avs forum it was, either the Nebula or Valerion one, but someone posted videos about how the dimming worked with the nebula here https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/23soukw63zcoqq2jqluka/PXL_20250526_001924921.mp4?rlkey=80bvl603srq9g441xyp9zoiig&e=2&st=t1sn0mpo&dl=0 It seems to take forever, and since the processing power on the projector itself is worse than the Valerion, I doubt it would be as capable in matching EBL performance even with firmware updates. It seems like for a dedicated theater space, the Valerion comes out way ahead, and would be where I go. You could always get both from Amazon and return whichever looks worse too, Valerion themselves have a satisfaction guaranteed return policy from what I’ve seen

r/projectors · BENQ X3100i or Nebula X1 Wished I had seen this earlier. There is absolutely no comparison between X1 and X3100i. The X1 is a game changer and top of its game. Comparable to Valerion Pro 2, and superior on several aspects.
r/projectors · Valerion vs Hisense The extra native contrast is worth the price difference id say but maybe it’s out of stock, no idea
r/projectors · Valerion vs Hisense The Valerion is excellent. But has 1600 native contrast and you need to rely on EBL for the rest. Not too much a problem if you don’t use subtitles and are ok with some artéfacts but otherwise, the X1 has 5000 native contrast because it has an iris. On top of it they’re developing an EBL. I would rank them like this: Valerion Max > X1 > Pro 2 > C2
r/projectors · Valerion vs Hisense Sorry to disturb your thinking but the best value for the buck is the Nebula X1 at 2500$

r/projectors · Post firmware: nebula X1 vs valerion Pro 2 vs max The X1 does not have proper optical lens shift. At that price, it absolutely should. Nothing wrong with the projector at all overall, if it works with the setup you have and can get by without any lens shift. I expect the image looks really good, but the lack of optical lens shift, is, and should be, a major flaw.
r/projectors · Quick question regarding Valerion Visionmaster Max I agree. The X1 is a solid choice, but the lack of lens shift is something I struggle with. It is basically the Valerion Pro2 in almost every way. Between the X1, Valerion, and Horizon 20, there are some amazing new projectors coming to market.

Look into a eBay refurbished Nebula X1 direct from Anker. They do a great job with firmware updates that improve their projectors even years down the line! Usually goes on sale for $1,600 usd and the specs are flagship level (3,500 lumens with dynamic iris, Dolby support, hdmi 2.1)

From the bottom 3, x1 is brightness, it is not triple laser like C1 or M2 pro. If you need optical zoom than m2 pro is only choice. Overall C1 might be overall best package. If I was buying I’d probably pick m2 pro due to optical zoom needed for my use, better for gaming compared to c1 and being most recent projector from Hisense so probably longer support.

r/projectors · Valerion vs Hisense You can get c3 ultra for 1350$ from Alibaba. I can't even find nebula x1 for 2500$ in stock. But i lile nebula for sure, more conventional ceilimg mount, water coolimg, iris. I'd buy for.2500$ but from where ?
r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? Nebula x1 has better native contrast by far. Even if the dimming (works are ongoing on this), will not work as good. For me.it's better projector.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1? I haven't owned both, but I can tell you what my research found last month and how the Pro2 has gone for me. The Pro2 has been a great experience. EBL is great. There's precisely one caveat for me, which is it has issues with fans ramping up and down repeatedly. You wouldn't think it's that hard to mitigate, but so far they haven't. If you're watching action movies you're not going to notice, but if you're watching suspenseful things it is more noticeable. The X1 gets a lot more firmware updates. My impression is the X1 is Nebula's genuine flagship, and treated as such. Whereas Valerion have (most likely) been laser-focused on the delayed Max flagship and so there's been minimal firmware updates. The X1 is quite a bit cheaper. I've seen the X1 on sale for something like £1800. By contrast the Pro2 is always £2599, but sometimes comes with a free screen. The X1 is very easy to carry, but the Pro2 comes in a good foam carry case. At least in the UK, you can buy a 3-year warranty for the X1 via Amazon. Whereas Valerion offer a free warranty registration to 2 years. The Pro2's onboard Google Home works very well, whereas I've heard the X1 is kinda underpowered. If you care about built-in sound, the X1 sound is supposed to be superior, but the Pro2 sound is pretty respectable too. I'm very happy with my Pro2, except for the fan issue. It seems to not just be a me thing - I've seen several mentions on various forums. Considering building a Hushbox if they don't patch it soon.

r/projectors · BenQ x500i vs x3100i vs Nebula x1 That's pretty much been the toss-up in my head. I know the x1 is currently "on sale" so it's about a $1000 difference. But whether that difference is worth it is what's holding me back. Plus, considering how new the x1 is, I haven't seen too much talk about it with regard to gaming, which is what it would be used for 70% of the time. Pretty much all I've heard is that it knocks the x3100i out of the park, which I don't know if that's in all departments or just movies.

r/projectors · Looking for suggesting on home theater projector replacement, too many options out there Going for a brand-new projector. Take a look at the Nebula X1 or Hisense C2. Both are 4K and deliver really impressive image quality for the price. X1's contrast is really good. It's 20% off during Prime Day. You could save some money and still have enough left over to grab some extra gear like a screen or speakers. Not a bad deal at all
r/projectors · Valerion vs Hisense Between the two, I'd personally prefer the Valerion. Just like you said, the image quality is noticeably better. That said, if you're looking in the same price class, you might can check out the Nebula X1. Its black levels are right up there with the Valerion and the C2 but no expensive as the Valerion

r/projectors · I'm thinking about a projector for gaming (console). I don't care about high refresh rate. I care about image quality and portability. Most of the new projectors have that feature. Also the nebula is easier to carry around with its handle.
r/projectors · I'm thinking about a projector for gaming (console). I don't care about high refresh rate. I care about image quality and portability. I've owned both, it's brighter, it has less laser speckle, it's quieter, Anker support is top notch, it has speaker accessories that you can buy for surround sound. It's image is better imo, contrast is a lot better, it's water cooled, easier to place with the gimbal you can buy. I prefer it to the C2 Ultra but both are great choices. I just really like Anker products. I have the X1, Mars 3 outdoor, and the Capsule 3 laser so yeah, a bit of a fanboy

r/projectors · BENQ X3100i or Nebula X1 Both the X1 and the X3100i look great in terms of clarity and they’re both 4K. But I think the X1 might have the edge when it comes to black levels. Its native contrast is 5000:1 and dynamic contrast is 56,000:1, which seems to help with shadow detail. Also, the X1 has 3500 lumens compared to 3300 on the X3100i, but there’s still a slight brightness bump too. No issues using it in a room with natural light, at least from what I’ve seen

r/projectors · Outdoor projector suggestions? Looking for something good for my backyard I also had my eye on the Nebula!!! With 3500 ANSI lumens and a native contrast ratio of 5000:1, it seems perfect for movies like The Dark Knight or Dune, where dark scenes are too gloomy or bright scenes fade on lesser projectors. Honestly better than Valerion and JMGO and Hisense

r/projectors · Outdoor projector suggestions? Looking for something good for my backyard OP, no matter which one you choose, I wouldn't recommend leaving the projector outdoors for a long time. Most projectors need fans for cooling to operate, and the prolonged exposure to outdoor humid air could damage it. I suggest bringing it out only when you need to use it. In that case, a more portable and easier-to-set-up device might be a better choice. Adjusting it manually each time could be quite a hassle. From the introduction of the Nebula X1, it supports electric zoom and adaptive environment settings, which I think could be one of its advantages. It is also mentioned that the X1 uses a liquid cooling system, which is completely new but looks very promising. Its main purpose is to reduce fan noise, but I'm also curious if it can help avoid the humid air problem.

r/projectors · At $2500, looking for the best 4K projector, narrowed it down to 4 options but still going in circles Purchases the Nebula X1 about 6 months ago. Very happy with performance. Only gripe I had has been resolved with recent update: sluggish OS and User Interface. Picture quality and brightness is very good with enough options/presets to change picture profile. Added bonus: portable and works great outdoors too. But have it mainly in dedicated theater room.

r/projectors · Unpopular Opinion: Are We Experiencing Peak Hype? My Take on the Valerion VisionMaster Max (And the Echo Chamber Review Culture) Saying a $5000 projector (Valerion) beats at $3000 projector (Nebula X1) is not really groundbreaking news. I think what we are hoping is that the Valerion beats the other good projectors that have a street price around 5k, like the entry level JVC and Sony. That would be very cool.

r/projectors · BenQ x500i vs x3100i vs Nebula x1 My choices would be the x500i or nebula X1. The 3100i gets brighter than the X500i but is otherwise inferior. The X1 has reviewed phenomenally well and nebula really knocked it out of the park with that one. It's also 2x the cost of the X500i which is also a great projector.

r/projectors · Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 or Nebula X1?

It is a good projector. Every projector in its price range has some sort of problems with software unfortunately. Nebula X1 is better for colour accuracy and native contrast. However it's dynamic contrast is terrible, it has issues with hdmi connectivity. Xgimi also has issues with dynamic contrast. Unfortunately, most of the brands use misleading marketing. There is no good standardized way to do testing for projectors. I think rtings did pretty decent reviews but even they failed to capture many nuances.
Valerion has the best dynamic contrast without subtitles. Nebula X1 has the best native contrast. XGIMI has the best lens and adjustability. Xgimi has a poor black floor. Nebula has poor black enhancement. Valerion is technically inferior to the other 2 projectors without EBL. They excel in different scenarios.
I mean that the general trade off is 35% brightness with mechanical iris but the system further drops brightness beyond that level after some time. They told me thats a bug and cooling system can sustain higher output and they are fixing it in December is release
The higher native contrast is noticeable but they had many software bugs. For example, when using iris the power would drop and the picture would become dimmer than it should be. The dynamic contrast only lowers the brightness in dark scenes and does not make gamma micro adjustments. Essentially all smart features or nebula are terrible. Performance without any smart features is better, its color reproduction and white balance is the best as well. For me the nebula is not priced very well and it does not come with a protective case. They tried to save money by putting little RAM, not putting the lens shift and now they suffer from it.
Dont go in circles and get xgimi titan on kickstarter. The best of these 4 is nebula x1 and its not even close. Not the best value for money atm though.
