r/shaving · Braun Nevo Reviews? It’s just like the S9 Pro+. Here’s the weird thing. I have super sensitive skin. The best way for me to use it is “dry” with Lectric pre-shave lotion. Close, smooth, comfortable shave. But I still get redness on the neck. You won’t believe this, but Panasonic ARC6 is superior. Closer, smoother, more comfortable, quicker, and actually quieter too, despite having more blades. It does have a bulky head with all the foils, but it’s still super easy for me to get all areas - especially right under the nose. ARC6 all the way! I also tried the Philips top one (I9000 Prestige Ultra) - it just cut me up so bad. It also wasn’t as smooth as the ARC6 experience.

r/malegrooming · Does anyone know how to get rid of this? The Arc6 is a little expensive, but for me, I think it was worth the purchase. You can save money by not getting the auto-cleaner/dryer/charger. It's a convenient gadget, but it broke the first time I thoroughly cleaned it out, so now I just clean the shaver and dry it after I use it. Could've just not paid the extra money for that bundle, I guess.
r/malegrooming · Does anyone know how to get rid of this? If you get a high-end electric shaver like the Panasonic Arc6, you can avoid a lot of that. You go all over once lightly, and then again pushing harder, and it's pretty good at clearing the hair without causing irritation, but it doesn't always get it perfectly smooth, so I'll go over it lightly with a disposable razor afterwards. I also apply "Lectric Shave" first, and when I'm done, I apply Nivea Men soothing after shave balm, which is the best product I've found for soothing the skin after shaving. If there are any bleeding spots, I zap them with a styptic pencil. I know a lot of people like shaving with safety razors and putting lather on their faces with a brush, but for me that only resulted in a worse shave, more irritation and bumps.
r/shaving · Beginning to question my decision to move to an electric razor I have the Arc6, which is supposed to be the best one, and it does work really well, especially if I haven't shaved for a few days, but I still have to go over it again with a disposable razor if I want a 100% smooth shave. It doesn’t work very well on the spot right under each sideburn, or a couple of spots on my neck (and I can't just push harder because then it will get irritated), and it is awkward to get it between my nose and upper lip to shave the mustache area, but it is doable (but I still give it a pass with the disposable razor. But if I'm in a hurry and just don't want to look scruffy or stubbly, it cleans it up pretty quickly with little to no irritation.
r/shaving · Post Shave Balm I have had good results with the Nivea balm, but it helps a lot to not get too irritated in the first place. Regular aftershave also helps prevent infection, but not everyone likes to smell it, so if I use aftershave before I go somewhere I'll wash it off after a few minutes. I don't usually use shaving cream anymore. I had a routine where I would use a 2-blade disposable razor without shaving cream and use many light, short strokes in different directions (with the growth, then diagonally across it, then against it), paying careful attention to the contours of my face so as not to cut myself, and pull the skin tight a little to get a closer shave (although in some areas such as between the chin and larynx this can cause ingrown hairs if you overdo it). I use a styptic pencil to stop any bleeding (it actually seems to work better after I put on the Nivea balm). If I get really bad irritation and it's before bed sometimes I'll make a masque of Calamine lotion and Neosporin and wear it overnight, which can help, but I don't like doing that because it's messy and repeated use of antibiotic products can contribute to more resistant bacteria. I also clean the razor repeatedly while shaving because a lot of the irritation seems to come from when debris builds up in the razor and scrapes against my skin. I used to use "Bump Patrol", which kind of works, but it makes the skin greasy for hours and smells like vinegar barbecue sauce, and, ironically, it can actually burn your skin and cause MORE irritation if you overdo it. What I do now most of the time actually is I use a Panasonic Arc6 electric shaver, dry, no shaving cream. First I put "Lectric Shave" on my face and do a light pass (doing the trick going with the growth, then diagonally, then against), then a more firm pass, still pulling the skin a little, but I don't do a very hard pass because then sometimes it will cause irritation or weird ingrown hairs. I usually follow it up with the 2-blade disposable razor to get it extra smooth and hit the spots that the shaver doesn't get very well (like below the sideburns), but it's helpful to use the Arc6 first, especially if I haven't shaven for several days. I can get pretty good-looking results using only the Arc6, but I like to get it as smooth as possible, and I still have to finish up with the razor to get that. The Nivea balm does prevent that dry, tight feeling that tends to occur from a close shave, and calms mild to moderate irritation. I rub it in a bit but then lightly apply another layer for extra protection andcwalk around a but to get the cooling effect from air blowing against it.

r/shaving · Foil Shaver - Best of the best? What works for me may not work for you. But! I have shaved with cartridge, DE/Safety and about a month ago I switched to the Panasonic ARC 6 as I also need a clean shave for work and it was getting annoying using the safety razor. Alot of people will recommend the Braun series 9 but I had one of the first ones about 5 years ago and could not get used to it. It would pull and tag and not get that close of a shave at all. The Panasonic doesn't pull and gets nice and close. No where near as close as a double edge but I firmly believe you need to change your expectations coming from the DE and if you expect the same closeness you will be disappointed. I have the cleaning station and I like that it doesn't use alcohol, its just a soap in water. I'd also only buy it on special as I'm in Australia and normal price from the shaver shop here is over $800 but I got it on special for around the $450-$500 mark.

r/shaving · Panasonic arc 5 where to buy, better than Braun series 9 sport I've used arc 6 and series 9, and prefer Arc as it is a bit quieter, seems to deliver a faster and closer shave, etc., but both are decent. Prefer the cleaning cartridges of Series 9 over the packets of Arc, but as I say, both work pretty well. In my case, I bought both, kept both, and use one for travel, and keep the other at home… The Series 9 I got came with a great charging case, so that one is used for travel.

r/shaving · Does anyone else use a Braun shaver for a first pass then follow up with a Panasonic? I do. I use the new Braun Nevo for a first pass then finish with the Panasonic Arc 6. The Nevo quickly gives a reasonably close shave and the Arc 6 then makes it baby smooth. I used to shave with just the Arc 6 but it took forever. So many passes in so many directions. But now, once the Nevo has done its work with minimal irritation and just one or two passes, the Arc 6’s work goes much faster. The combination uses the best of each shaver’s strengths. Nevo for lifting hairs and minimal irritation with less passes, and Arc 6 for sheer closeness. If you can afford two high-end razors, you can’t beat this combination.

r/shaving · Pretty Burned Out On Wet Shaving I made the switch when I finished working and got the Panasonic Arc 6 while in Japan. It takes about a month for your face to get used to an electric razor. It’s not quite as close as a blade but for me it’s good enough. I also use it wet with a small amount of shaving cream for best results. I think this is also better for the life of the blades ( but I might be wrong!)

r/shaving · What's the best electric shaver for men? Is a premium model worth it in 2026? I did try the Panasonic both models, and they are excellent shavers for sure. For my sensitive face skin, I find the brand-new what Braun called "AeroTouch Technology" to be superior for me personally when it comes to irritation. Braun says: "NEVO Electric Shaver combines 250 diamond-sharp cutting edges with an ultra-low friction foil to minimize skin drag and irritation." The shaving head glides very smooth across my face and neck, and feels good, and left me feeling no irritation, and of course no nicks. Again, I am not related to Braun, and I agree that the shaver's high $599 introductory price (which includes the cleaning station) is a turn-off. Amazon has the Arc 6 at Amazon right now for $100 less, and perhaps for people without sensitive skin they can choose to save the money. By the way: The NEVO replacement cartridges will cost $100. Oh, and the $599 model at Amazon includes a battery-powered travel case that can charge the shaver wirelessly. Having this was not an incentive for me personally.

r/shaving · Electric Shaver I have had all 3, recommend panasonic in regards to closeness of the shave. With comfort it’s Philips, then Panasonic, the Braun. I know many people say Braun is more comfortable than Panasonic, but for my Braun causes more irritation because I’m pressing so hard to get a close shave. With Panasonic you get a close shave without pressure and therefore less irritation. Philip for me is not even an option because it’s not close enough.

r/shaving · Gillette sensor 2 plus or Gillette skinguard? I’m a black man that is very prone to razor bumps. I’ve used single blade razors, but they give me bumps, and I don’t have time to shave with them. Give an electric shaver a try. I'm black myself and I have been using a Panasonic ARC 6. No issues with razor bumps whatsoever. The only difficult part is it takes about a month for your face to adjust to the electric shaver. It doesn't shave as close as a razor which is a good thing if you have issues with razor bumps or ingrown facial hair. Use Neosporin on your razor bumps to help them heal faster.

r/shaving · Best foil shaver? I recently switched from a cartridge razor and did a lot of research. I came away with the impression that the Braun Series 9 is the best that you can buy. But there are issues with it as it ages. I saw reports of buttons falling off. But what worried me the most was reports of replacement heads being way worse than original. Even when purchased directly from Braun (some of the comments are directly from the reviews on Braun's product page for the replacement heads). I ended up going with the Arc 6. I just got it a few days ago so I'm still getting used to it. So far there's been no issue with irritation. Even though my skin isn't the best and I've been using it every day. It shaves closer than if I just did a single pass with a cartridge razor. But not as close as if I took my time and tried to get as close a shave as possible. And there are spots on my face where I really need to make multiple passes with the Arc 6. Especially the areas under my chin. Overall, I'm happy with it. If I take the time to make multiple passes and get a close shave then it’s not really saving me time compared to the cartridges. But it is way more convenient. And I can shave every day without going through gallons of shaving gel. The Arc 5 would have been way less money and probably would have been fine. But I sprung for the Arc 6 as I read that it is more comfortable with less irritation. And this was important to me.

I got my Philips ultra I have used top brands and I presently have Braun series 9 pro , Panasonic arc 6 and also Philips ultra i9000. To be honest I have used all three no.1 rank goes to Braun no.2 rank goes to Panasonic both are for sensitive skin no burning and cuts after shave but Philips prestige ultra gave me burning and cuts after shave. Philips prestige atleast not for me may work for others thank you.

r/shaving · How is the BRAUN 9 PRO+ Someone has opinion? So I've been using it for a few years and it is pretty damn good. The charging station is pretty loud when it's doing its cleaning. Just last week I bought the Panasonic arc 6 so I've only used it a few times so far . I'll say the Arc 6 shaves just a tiny bit closer, the cleaning station is almost silent also. Maybe it's just my brwun shaver or station but even after the cleaning process , I take off the blades and there's still stuff in there. I'd say if you can find a really good deal on the ARC 6 like I got lucky and managed to id grab it. If not I'd go for the Braun series 9. The arc is a better razor but not $100 or so better in my opinion.

r/shaving · Shaved against grain I am 23 in a few months, hated facial hair my whole life and used those cartridge razors with 4 or so blades, never could get a clean moustache shave so was going against the grain but even then the skin under the nose looked grey... 3 weeks ago got that arc6 from Panasonic electric shaver/razor(it was 500 locally, likely around 400 in your area but idk), and it's supposedly the electric one that cuts the closest to skin, so after shaving my moustache area is clean af, as if I never had hair compared to the cartridge razors. Perhaps look into safety razors which should cut closer to skin, or save for something like the Panasonic arc6 if you are serious about not having facial hair (imo it was worth it), also important note most electric ones don't cut as close to the skin as the arc6, so don't go for the 100$-200$ ones if you want clean face, tho they r better for skin than non electric ones

r/shaving · I literally dont know what to do, I just want a clean shave The closest shaving foil razor is the Panasonic Arc6. I enjoy it. But it doesn’t cut as close as my more efficient safety razors with a 3 pass shave. Consider trying more efficient safety razor, the ones you tried are less efficient. The Blackland Blackbird is extremely efficient and has a 30 day return policy. I can get extremely close shaves with cartridge razors but cannot use them for more than 3 days in a row without causing skin irritation. The safety razors allow me achieve a close shave safely and daily. But it takes some time and some practice. My electric razors give me an ok shave when I am in a rush. I use any of these approaches depending on my circumstances and current use-case. I think most folks need a variety of solutions.

I upgraded from a Philips rotary like you and the difference was night and day. The Arc 6 feels almost like a manual razor, especially if you use it wet with shaving cream. Downsides: it’s loud and not as forgiving on sensitive skin, but if you want smooth, it’s the closest I’ve found.

r/shaving · Went from a Costco shitty rotary shaver to a Panasonic Arc 5, I didn’t realize a shave could be this close. I went from using a Braun 8 for the past several years to the Panasonic ARC6 and cannot believe the difference. I have sensitive skin, but I've never had a closer more comfortable shave than now.

r/shaving · Arc 6 vs Series 9 Pro I just bought panasonic arc 6 with cleaning station for about $299.99 can say it really okay not revolution change but good can't complain since I got steal on this. I been using manscaped lawnmower 4.0 for facial and been following up with wahl vanish now i don't need do that. I use arch 6 first than wahl vanish touch up. I'll give panasonic a 8 outta 10

r/shaving · Review: Panasonic Arc 5 vs Braun Series 9 I always used Braun Series 9s in the past— also had a 7 that I loved. But then I tried an Arc 6. The shave was noticeably closer (though less forgiving), so I switched to Panasonic. Overtime however, I became dissatisfied with the cleaning station. The cleaning solution gets nasty. Because of that I went back to Braun 9. It is more forgiving, has a smaller head, did a better job at 2 day stubble, and I really prefer the alcohol based cleaning solution. However, I found out the hard way that Braun has gone to the dogs. In only a few months the cutter wore a hole in the foil. I bought a replacement only to find out that it has been redesigned, and now it is really bad. I mean really bad. Numerous bad reviews online bear me out. It is unusable. Even Brauns travel electric razors, which used to be very good, are now unusable. I had to go to a business meeting and sit across a table from a very attractive young lady with a half shaven face. It was embarrassing. But I digress. Long story short, I went back to Panasonic razors — Arc 5 this time. I lost so much money on Braun that I can’t afford an Arc 6. I’m done with Braun. I don’t know what’s going on over there but they have botched what used to be a good razor.

r/shaving · Can I get a razor-close shave with electric shavers? As Some mentioned, it definitely depends on your face the way your hair grows. Everybody knows this is true but years ago the electric shavers were way better and we all know they're purposely making them not as good now. I tried so many expensive electric shavers now and they all suck. It'll honestly take you longer to do it with an electric shaver than it would with the razor cuz you're going to have to clean it up with a razor anyway, that's how bad almost all of the electric shavers are now. So if you're having a challenge doing it with the razor you're going to have even longer time doing it with the razor and the electric shaver together cuz you're going to need both And I'm sure every other person with an electric razor is going to agree with me that you need some type of touch up after using the electric shaver. It's not perfect. I tried so many electric razors and the best one I ever owned was a Panasonic Arc 3 from 2009 that lasted 15 years. After it died I tried Braun 9000 the Panasonic newer Arc 3 Arc 5, arc 6, Norelco I can't understand how all these new razors 15 years newer are so terrible And for up to $300 more than the older one, plus the original cost. That's insane 😂 I could shave up down left right Just does not cut the hair close lol The old one would just blast through a 5-day beard no problem a few passes And as close as a baby's ass I swear it was so damn smooth. I loved it. And in the 15 years I owned it, I only bought 4 foil and razor replacements as it started getting dull and would pull the hair I would change it and then it would cut amazing. Never got a nic or cut nothing. These new razors can't shave as close but somehow have cut me . It's amazing the level of technology and ingenuity to purposely make it a little worse. Wow mankind! Let's go backwards lol. Panasonic ES8103S was the one I had 😭

I've had Braun 9pro, arc 6, Phillips one blade, a Henson DE razor, and now the prestige ultra. I can get closest with the DE but it takes the most time and effort and usually results in me bleeding Arc 6 gets second closest, but requires that I shave every day. The first few 2 or 3 months, I can go 2-3 days but then the blades start to go. Phillips One blade works on 3-4 days but doesn't get close. So far, I've had the Prestige ultra for a month and I can get through 4-5 days of growth much easier than any other and can get almost as close as with the arc 6. Best set up is prestige ultra for when you let it get long and then an arc 5 or 6 to get even smoother with a few quick swipes.
Not a CM, but still. Less than a day is stubble. 2 days and I can feel the hair move when rubbing my hand. Head to head, the Arc 6 won out. Only downside is that the blades only get through 3 days of growth for maybe 4 months.
It definitely can, but I have thick stubble that grows back fast. I'd say by day 3 it's uncomfortable and less effective and that's with blades that are a year old. Fresh blades can handle 3 days just fine. For comparison, when I skipped a day with a brand new top of the line Braun, it pulled. I laugh at the Braun ads that claim it can handle a 7 day beard.
Pulling is usually because your hair is too long. I would try the one blade. It's cheap and does a good job, but not that close. Then you can use the Braun to get a bit closer. Even with my fancy Arc 6, it can only handle so much growth before pulling.
Can't speak to head shaving but arc 6 is much better than the 9 pro. 9pro is a bit less close and requires more passes if you shave religiously every single day. If you skip a day or 2 prepare for pulling. Plus that's only coming from my experience fresh out the box. I wouldn't want to find out what the performance is a few months later as even the arc 6 degrades after about 2 months. With that said, I get pretty course pretty fast growing facial hair so your mileage may vary.
