I tend to get overgrown hairs easily as well as cuts/irritation. The comfort head is a silicone head that lifts the hair before shave. It’s such a quick and smooth shave. I haven’t had any breakouts, irritation or ingrown hairs, yet my face is so damn smooth.

r/shaving · Type of electric shaver for sensitive skin. I agree that some folks have too sensitive of skin to use an electric razor. But I think this is rather rare. Using an electric pre-shave, not pushing the razor hard into your skin and giving some time for your face to adapt and using a good post-shave moisturizer is good for most sensitive skin situations. If you have tried all of this and are still having trouble then it is a safe bet that electric razors will not work for you. The foil shavers are generally just a tad better IMHO for sensitive skin as the rotary shavers are generally just a tad better for a closer shave. However, if you can somehow test both then you can better determine which one is best for you. I use the Braun Series 9 Pro+ and it is very comfortable, after about a week of using it, but it is not as close as a good DE or straight razor. No electric shaver is-unless you have a thin beard. I now choose this route for the time savings and because I travel frequently.

(I recently went from a full beard to a goatee so I have to shave again). I prep the skin with Williams Lectric shave or Speik Electric Pre-Shave. After shaving and before the shower I apply Trumper’s Skin Food which the skin quickly absorbs. After the shower I apply Proraso Sensitive Skin Lotion. I use the Braun Series 9 Pro+. With this method and not pressing in the shaver into the skin I have eliminated irritation problems and get a shave that is a bit better than with my now retired Norelco.

I have the s9pro+ I've bought spare heads 2 92m two 94m and 2 96m I've used the 94m first that came with the shaver it worked five but 5mths later it developed a hole so put a 92m head on got the close ish shave not quite the same as the 94m cassette but not far off haven't used the 96m's yet will use the 92s first as just at home don't require a close shave and not bothered about how close they cut but it grows back in half the time than a bladed shave I converted to power shaver for when im in hospital and saves having to take shave gel razor and keeping the blade away from anything that might bluntness it having a shaver with power case seemed a better choice the 94m first shaves were very close I did apply alot of pressure when first started and it did nick me a couple of times I didn't expect that but wasn't bothered now I use less pressure it still shaves close but not smooth blades are always gonna cut closer for sure when I finally use a 96m I will come back and update what I think the heads all look the same to me to be honest so I feel maybe they are all the same without proof to me they look no different to me

It's great for stubble and shaving my head, but it does struggle with longer flat lying hairs. That's its biggest weakness. If my main use case was for my face, I'd probably go with the ARC 5 or ARC 6. I do love how gentle my braun is though.

I'm a balding guy with a beard, so I bought it for my head and neck. It does an absolutely phenomenal job on my head. It shaves super close and comfortable - I'm very pleased with that aspect. For my neck it's decent but not mind-blowing. My neck stubble is course and thick, with lots of flat lying hairs. I definitely get a better shave with a razor, in perhaps less time. It struggles the most at the border between my neck and my beard. I can definitely get a good shave, but it takes lots of passes. The trimmer is not good. 10/10 for head, 7/10 for neck.

r/shaving · best electric shaver for a first time buyer When I first started using the Norelco, it made my neck raw, but I gave it a chance. I waited two days and then used my Braun Series 9 Pro+ to shave. I waited a couple more days and then used the Norelco with no problems. The above being said; the i9000 shaves quite close. So much so that I still find it necessary to use an alum block and then some Thayer's Witch Hazel and finish up with some Nivea aftershave balm after each session. My face and neck will sting upon application of those products, but the next day things are all healed up. All in all I am quite pleased with the results of this shaver, and am willing to go through the ritual afterwards to achieve that degree of closeness. If I keep going over the areas with the Braun to try to achieve this degree of closeness, I will still find it necessary to use the alum block and everything else to repair the skin. The Braun Series 9 Pro+ is a great shaver. I just prefer the Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra for the smoothness against my skin.
r/shaving · Electric shaver advice Having both types of shavers, I can say from personal experience that a foil will be easier on your skin, at least to start out with. If you give a rotary enough time for your skin to become conditioned to it, you will find the rotary to be more comfortable. That has been my experience. Still, with either a close shaving foil, or any rotary, you shouldn't go over any area too many times or you will break the skin. Not enough to where it bleeds, but enough to where an astringent, such as Witch Hazel, and/or an aftershave balm will make your skin sting, meaning that a layer of skin has been broken. For most men this is not an issue, it's just a part of life. But given your propensity for a severe reaction to shaving, it's a decision only you can make. As far as closeness goes, I had settled on the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, at least until I tried the Panasonic Arc 5 foil shaver. While not Panasonic's best shaver, I think it shaves as close as, or closer than the Norelco. You still have to be careful about going over an area too many times, especially when first starting out with any electric shaver. The more you shave with one, the easier it gets. I still occasionally use a double-edged razor, if only to remind myself how much I like my Norelco and/or my Braun Series 9 Pro+, or my Panasonic. Another thing to consider about the higher priced models is that you don't have to go over the same areas as much as with the lower priced ones because the costlier ones shave closer with each pass, meaning fewer trips over the same areas to achieve the desired results. r/shaving · Been a manual shaver for 20+ years... did I miss something in the electric world? ...or even the Series 3! I have the Series 7 360 Turbo AND the Series 9 Pro+, which both do an excellent job... But then I wanted to see just what was missing in a less expensive model, so I picked up a Series 3. To my amazement; the 3 seemed to cut almost as close as the 9! The main differences being that the 9 is more comfortable against the skin, and the shave gets done faster. I received roughly the same results with the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, and the 2400. There is a wider gap in the comfort levels between these two. As far as quality of shave goes; you won't think you're missing anything moving from wet shaving to the newer electrics. One thing I didn't mention that has taken place in the electric world within the time frame you're asking about is the thickness of the foils. It has gotten significantly thinner recently, meaning you don't, (shouldn't), go over the same areas as many times as in the past. You can get weepers with these newer electrics if you're not careful. I have nice wet shaving equipment, and I occasionally go back and use them, just to change up the routine. But after I'm done cleaning up the water mess and cleaning up the equipment; I'm reminded by how thankful I am for all the engineering and manufacturing expertise that has gone into my electric shavers.

I am in the early stages of testing, so I am in no position to make a recommendation, other than I haven't found a bad one in the bunch. And that's anywhere from a 26.00 open box Philips Norelco 2400 to a 400.00 i900 Prestige Ultra or Braun Series 9 Pro+. Also a Panasonic Arc 5. You can see and feel the difference in quality, and the time it takes to finish a shave, but as far as closeness, I must have a very easy to shave beard because I always get a BBS shave. No matter which way I run my fingers over my beard, I don't feel any whiskers lifting up. But I've just been shaving around my beard, so I'm not a very good test platform. What takes me eight months to grow out takes my son two weeks. I am jealous! Hopefully I'll soon get the bug to be clean shaven again. Then I'll be in a better position to judge these eleven shavers.

It shaves so close that it requires considerable aftershave treatments. I love it, but I don't use it that often. I DO use both however. I find that there are some contours of my face don't get as close with the Philips, and I clean those up with the Braun. Likewise, if I use the Braun first, there will be areas that IT leaves as well. And I clean those up with the Philips. Just my experience.

r/shaving · No longer getting close shaves I think 'close' is a relatively subjective term. One man's close may be unacceptable to another. I like how close my Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra and Braun Series 9 Pro+ shave. Both shavers may have difficulties in one area or another, and I clean those up with the other shaver that I didn't use in the first place. I realize what I just said is not very cost effective, but I look at shaving as a hobby, so I have invested somewhat heavily in my hobby. If I still have troublesome areas after the two electrics, I get out the Gillette Fusion ProGlide, and/or the straight razor if I feel like being fussy. I'm 71 with a bad, (broken in three places), back, so shaving keeps me entertained. As far as YOUR problem goes; I have HEARD that the Panasonic ARC 5 and 6 deliver the closest shaves with an electric. Although I have also HEARD, (no first hand experience), that the Panasonics tend to be uncomfortable. I have not found either of the ones I have to be uncomfortable. Sorry I can't be more help.

My Braun has been collecting dust... Both shavers give a remarkably close shave, but the Philips is so smooth and QUIET! If the TV is on when I start the Philips, a lot of the time I have to look at it to make sure the indicator lights are on, telling me that it's running. There is no mistaking when the Braun is on, with the roar of the motor, and the buzzing vibration. Just my take after having both shavers about six months.

BUT, afterwards I use Thayer's Witch Hazel and Nivea Maximum Hydration Post Shave Balm, and those two really settle my skin down.

I am usually long winded on Reddit, but this shouldn't take long... Both shavers shave remarkably close, but after the first two weeks; the Braun has just sat. I can't put my finger on it, but the Philips is so smooth and quiet, and it shaves just as close or closer than the Braun. Enjoy, you can't go wrong with either one.

I haven't used my Braun Series 9 Pro+ in a while, but I kinda remember my face stinging a little bit after using it. And I KNOW my Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra cuts skin. My face tingles all over after a shave with it. And running an alum block over the area stings like the devil. I'm glad I'm letting my beard grow out again. Fabulous shaves though, with either one.
r/shaving · I can't decide between Rotary vs Foil, Philips vs Braun, Lower vs Higher Series, etc... I have been out of the loop shaving wise for the last ten years. I had just let my beard grow wild. One day I decided I didn't like looking like a bum. So I went to the barbershop and got a decent haircut, and my beard totally shaved off. It was an older barber, but definitely not a full service shop. I couldn't get a decent shave there. So I thought about the situation a little bit, and decided I wanted to go electric. I didn't do any research, and bought the first Braun that popped up on Amazon. It just so happened to be the Series 7 360 Turbo. I was impressed with the closeness of the shave, (not knowing what a good shave looked or felt like), but for some reason I then decided to do some research. My next step was the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra. I couldn't believe how smooth and QUIET it was. Closeness was acceptable, but I still thought there was more... Sooooo I bought the Braun Series 9 Pro+. It shaves really close, but almost a tie with the Philips. I'm finding the Pro+ will leave 'patches', that need touching up, and the i9000 takes care of them. ALL the above being said, (TLDR), even though I love the Philips, if I could only have one, (thank God that's not the case), I would settle on the Braun Series 9. One thing I forgot to mention is that the shaving experience is smoother with the 9 than the 7. The 7 feels kinda rough by comparison. Lucky me, when I want to be clean shaven, I start out with the Braun Series 9, and finish up with the Philips. Side note: after doing more research; the features of the Philips Ultra are bells and whistles gimmicks that I spent money on, but never use. I believe that the shave quality would be just as good with the next model under the Ultra.
r/shaving · Help me decide between a electric, multi-blade, or safety razor I have a Braun Series 7 360 Turbo, and a Series 9 Pro+, and a Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra. They all shave close enough to suit me. A lot of the time I will use the Series 9,and get a good close shave, but with a few left over spots that didn't clean up. That's when I break out the Philips i9000. It will 'find' those spots and even out the shave. I get irritation with a cartridge razor, even though I'm using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide. I'm older, and I look at shaving as a hobby, so I am constantly trying new things, for fun. I doubt you will settle on one thing at your age, and that's fine. If you look at shaving like I do, you will have many years of enjoyment.

But I will on occasion use the Braun Series 9 to start with, but find a few stragglers when I'm finished. Then I'll clean up with the Philips. I also think the shave is more comfortable with the Philips. I look at shaving as a hobby. And right now I'm growing out a stubble beard. I don't really like it because I am older, (I don't like the way 'old' sounds, even though I am.), and my stubble is hard to see, because it is mostly silver and gray. And not that I couldn't use one of those fancy shavers to clean up above and below the 'cut' lined, I like having toys, so I got myself a Wahl Vanish to clean those areas up. Having said all that, I wonder why Wahl doesn't market the Vanish as an everyday shaver. It seems like it shaves closer than all my other shavers. Sorry for the long-winded reply to a simple question.

r/shaving · Panasonic arc 5 vs Babyliss vs Barun series 9 I purchased Braun series 9 pro+ on 1st April. Absolutely over the moon can’t see myself returning to a normal razor/ safety razor that I previously used. No experience with the others you have mentioned but the shave I get from the Braun is excellent, add a little shaving foam just to glide over the face and speed up the shaving process and I’m done in around 3 minutes. I have very sensitive skin I could never shave every day with razors without irritation, now I can I rarely want to every other day is perfect with the Braun. Hope this is of any help to you.
r/shaving · Pretty Burned Out On Wet Shaving Much like yourself never found the perfect blade/ razor combination for my skin with DE razor wet shaving. Cartridge razors don’t agree with my skin either always feel they are tugging. Purchased Braun series 9 pro + April 1st. Over the moon. I will not return to traditional shaving unless boredom or simply for a change. I can shave every day, second day or third day how ever I see fit without causing irritation to my skin. Use shaving foam from a can to add some slickness with the razor, shave is complete in under 5 minutes with a closeness in similarity to an against the grain shave after 6-8 hours growth.

My skin however hates a shave every day as my skin is so sensitive I tried a normal 5 blade Gillette, no use. Tried a few safety razors for years it helped but not greatly as I could only shave every other day at best but this still caused pain and irritation. I tried the Braun series 3, series 7 and still wasn’t pleased still got irritation so decided to sell them and returned to the safety razor. 10 days ago I thought to myself last try with electric and purchased the Braun series 9 pro plus. I know expensive purchase but my goodness am I pleased. Found the best shave I can get is with a small amount of shaving foam and the series 9, gives a slickness and close shave only a fraction less than an against the grain shave with a safety razor. If you have the funds available or willing to save I would encourage you to. I do know not everyone is able to do so and your experience may not be as pleasant as mine.

r/shaving · Braun 96xx / 96M cassette Fantastic! Best electric razor I’ve ever used. Was about to get the 9599cc but learned of the 96 series right before I pulled the trigger. I have sensitive skin and a very thick fast growing beard. Even with this razor if I get baby smooth if I were going to a formal function that night I might need a touch up, but so simple, no irritation. I had a braun 7 series but while it was that best at the time I could never use it regularly because I had to press too hard. Highly recommend the 96 series

There is a new 96 series Braun that at present is only available at Amazon in two models and if you do not have a 95 series I would say if the budget isn’t a huge issue get the 96 series it is the best out there for its type. Some have said if you shave very regularly the arc is great but it can irritate sensitive skin and the brain is less likely to do so. Also it removes 5-7 day hair as easily as one day stubble wet or dry. I have a thick beard and sensitive skin and it’s the best electric razor I’ve ever used including older but top of the line Braun

I was about to pull the trigger on the Braun 9599 CC which has everything and read reviews about the 96** I really wanted the package with the cleaner and comfort head and electric charging case but only in UK. I ended up pulling the trigger and getting the the 96 with the comfort head as I imagined that within 18 mos they’ll certainly be available by then. I just imagine they are going to get rid of all the 95 inventory until the release the 96 world wide but just guessing. What I can say is that I had a Braun 7 series for years and I could rarely use it as I had to press to hard and I have the combo of a very thick fast growing beard and very sensitive skin. Anyway the 96 is a DREAM! I actually for the first time since 12 years old (I enjoyed it then as it was cool for about a year or two LOL) I actually have been clean shaven the last two weeks every day so quick and easy it tickles me. Just not used to being this clean shaven and having it be a joy or non issue as opposed the feeling of “I have to shave today”
r/shaving · Daily shaving Just upgraded from a very old 7 series Braun which I couldn’t use too often just too hard and not good enough compared to just an old fashioned Gillette 5 blade which works but I don’t enjoy or like to shave at all…to the new 96 series currently only on Amazon in US. AMAZING! Have very sensitive skin and it gets as smooth as a blade or darn close. I have a thick beard and it does grow back quicker. I don’t think it gets beneath the skin like those manual blades did but at the cost of a lot of irritation. The last two weeks I wake up and shave if I’m working or not. Smooth right away and over the day a little stubble grows back that I notice way more than anyone else does. I would probably shave again in evening if I had a big formal deal but the technology has advanced so much since I got the 7 series. Personally being forward thinking as soon as I learned about the 9600 the 95 series would have left me wondering what I missed. You can put a 96 cassette on the 94 and 95 series although they are not being distributed through normal channels yet. Fully out in UK… I do think for a beard like mine the 96 series is a worthwhile step up from the 95 series. Anyway don’t work for Braun. Had problems with the battery on my 7 the first two times had to return to Best Buy but finally got one that has lasted 7-10 years can’t even remember

Had a 7 series but was still not really up to the task without me pressing hard enough and then made it rarely useable. This 96 series gets a real clean shave with little effort. My beard grows very fast so if I shaved in AM I might need a touch up if I had a formal evening event but when I’m done it’s really just the best. If it holds up with the battery etc best purchase of this type of item ever

r/shaving · Which Shaver to Buy? I have a Panasonic Arc5 and it works very well. It feels pretty close to a razor and you can occasionally find it on sale at $100-120 if you don’t care about the color (the silver one is showing up as $109 right now on Amazon for me with the clipped coupon). My father-in-law uses a Braun Series 9 Pro+ and I got a chance to try it too. I feel like that gets the closes shave for my face, but it wasn’t worth 3x the price I paid for my Panasonic Arc5. The Panasonic Arc6 is around the same price as that Braun Series 9 Pro+ too and I heard it’s excellent, but I think 6 blades is overkill and it’s expensive. For the price I don’t think you can get a better shave for an electric foil shaver than the Panasonic Arc5. The few extra bucks you spend compared to a Braun Series 3 and 5 gives you a substantially better shaving experience.

The braun is waterproof so you can use it in the shower and I do so once or twice a week with jack black conditioning beard lube. I don't think prestige ultra worth the money but for me personally it was a much better shave than braun series 9 pro +. With braun I have to do more rounds and it's quite tricky to shave area directly under my nose I never had issues shaving with Philips. I'm thinking about switching back to Philips, but regular prestige model

r/shaving · Have Philips shavers gotten worse over time? I have a 2012 RQ1290 (rarely used) that works well. But I can’t get genuine parts for it now. So I’ve bought a 2025 Braun 9 pro +. Its motor is stupidly loud and powerful, but it’s not really an improvement. A bit better for my face, a decent bit worse for my neck.
r/shaving · The best electric shaver when others did not work? I have a Philips series 9000 (13 years old) and a Braun series 9 pro + (2025). For face , Braun is slightly better/faster. For neck, Philips is a bit better. Especially the bottom part and right under my jawbone. I find using the Philips is easier. Not as chunky. The Braun feels too harsh in the motor too. It feels 4-5 times more ‘violent’ in its vibrations and noise. But I’m stuck with the Braun (or maybe I’ll swap to the new Philips?), as my Philips no longer is supported.

r/shaving · Don't buy a Philips S9000 Prestige shaver, go for the newer standard S9XXX models (and a quick note comparing with Braun's Series 9) I guess your mileage may vary 😔 As of recently I've started using the newest Braun S9 Pro+ more. The older model I had broke down entirely (stopped charging even) and I had a chance to snag a really good deal for the newest mod with the travel charge case which is a bit bulky, but perfect for longer trips. The Braun model is still super noisy compared to the Philips one, especially while cleaning itself in the cleaning station, but it is a much closer shaving experience for sure. I hear the Panasonic Arc 5 is the closest foil shaver, but it has such a bulky head that I couldn't imagine going through the area above my lip comfortably with that.

I switched to a Braun Series 9 Pro+ and it’s been much gentler, especially for dry shaves. If you prefer wet shaving, the Panasonic Arc 5 is also a solid option. It really comes down to whether you want speed and comfort.

r/BuyItForLife · Head shaver and face shaver. I'm done getting my hair cut, and tired of cheap electric face shavers needing to be replaced every 2 years. Braun series 9 pro+ for face. You’ll need to replace the shaver cartridge every 12-18 months at £50-60 and ideally have the cleaning station. Cleaning cartridges or solution will probably run you £30-40 year. You’ll need separate hair clippers if you need to trim down length as the integral clippers are only really any use for sideburns. Best face shave I’ve ever had. Including over a decade of using safety razors.
r/BuyItForLife · Best electric face shaver to buy now? I’ve had a brain series 9 pro+ for 7 months now. I can shave daily with it if I want to - and if I do, I get no ingrown hairs or bumps. It’s not as quick as using a razor - takes me about ten minutes but gets a very close shave with no irritation. I have ridiculously thick, coarse hair and multi-directional growth. I suspect if I had uni-directional hair growth it would be a two minute job. It is expensive and I got mine as a Christmas present with the clean and charge station. I don’t find the refills too expensive as each lasts me around 2 months and I bought a couple of six packs when they were on offer. I love it. It’s been a night and day difference for me compared to wet shaving with a razor (including safety razors). I can live with the longer shave time. If it broke I’d almost certainly buy another ASAP. I am somewhat interested in trying a Panasonic as I hear a lot of good things about them. I would be opposed to running two shavers in a rotation - but it’s not something I’m going to stress about.

r/shaving · Braun Series 9 Pro+ 9697 Unfortunately there are no guards for this razor. This type of foil razor is one length only. It’s meant to give you a close shave, near a straight razor shave but without the actual razor blade. What’s nice about this model is that it’s very gentle in your skin, gives you a nice close shave and you can use pre shave balm with it. I personally love mine and wish I would’ve gotten one sooner. If you’re looking for a razor with attachments for a certain length, maybe try the Phillips One Blade?

I recently bought a series 9 pro Plus, because I had had a series 7 that lasted 20 years with two head changes, well what happened to me happened to you, after two weeks it no longer worked, what I didn't do was change the head, €60!!, so I bought a Panasonic series 800, cheap compared to the Braun, I've had it for a week, but it works much more than the new Braun, and most importantly, in Braun you They "force" you to change the head every 6 months, in fact you get a warning, and Panasonic tells you that it can last 5 years, but you have the option, if you decide, to change the blades every year, and the blades every two years, but without pressure, like Braun. They have adopted the same policy as toothbrushes, they give you colors so you can change the replacement, they do not sell machines, they sell replacements, apart from scheduling their obsolescence, because before they boasted that it was self-sharpening, in fact I changed the head when it broke due to wear and tear, and another nice thing is that the head includes blades and blades, to make it more expensive, in the Panasonic they are separated, like the old Brauns before.

Venerdì ho ritirato la 69 che avevo comprato per sostituire un Braun serie 9 pro Plus, che è una truffa, dopo la seconda settimana non ha più fretta e oltretutto ti "obbligano" a cambiare la testina ogni 6 mesi!!, qui in Europa costa più di 60€, quindi in un anno pago la Panasonic che dicono che le lamette durano 5 anni, e con la mia barba morbida stimo che mi durerà 10. Non comprate la Braun!!, loro non sono più gli stessi, è un business di materiali di consumo, non di rasoi.

It is a bit loud though, so I shave in the evening prior to showering before bed. I am required to be clean shaven for my job, and even though it’s been 8 hours or so, I’m still ready to go.

It’s super gentle, and the cleaning station keeps the blades sharp and hygienic, which helps reduce irritation. Ingrown hairs are more about technique than the shaver itself, shave daily or every other day, go with the grain, and exfoliate. Braun is pricey, but since comfort is your priority, it’s worth it.

r/shaving · How is the BRAUN 9 PRO+ Someone has opinion? So I've been using it for a few years and it is pretty damn good. The charging station is pretty loud when it's doing its cleaning. Just last week I bought the Panasonic arc 6 so I've only used it a few times so far . I'll say the Arc 6 shaves just a tiny bit closer, the cleaning station is almost silent also. Maybe it's just my brwun shaver or station but even after the cleaning process , I take off the blades and there's still stuff in there. I'd say if you can find a really good deal on the ARC 6 like I got lucky and managed to id grab it. If not I'd go for the Braun series 9. The arc is a better razor but not $100 or so better in my opinion.

It shaves good enough for most people that are just looking to get a pretty close shave though. I use my Braun S9 Pro+ for my face and for the neck I use the OneBlade 360. Love them both but the OneBlade does t get anywhere near as close as the Braun on my face and the One loaded sometimes gives me discomfort and the occasional ingrown hair.

r/shaving · Foil Shaver for Close Shave on Sensitive Skin In my case, I tried the Braun series 7 (older model) the current series 9 pro+, and Panasonic arc 5. I have very sensitive skin and coarse hair. All three razors took a while getting all the hairs, and left some razor burns. The one that worked the best for me was the Panasonic arc 5. It left the least amount of razor burns, and gave the smoothest shave in the end. The series 9 pro+ wasn't as smooth, and gave me a slightly worse razor burn, but not by much. the series 7 was slightly worse than the series 9 pro+. The one thing Series 9 pro+ did better was that it didn't get as warm when shaving for a long period of time, possibly because the arc 5 has a more powerful and faster motor. The way I see it, if you want the smoothest shave, more powerful motor, and save some money, I'd go for the arc 5 (maybe arc 6, haven't tried it yet). If you don't want to worry about cleaning and oiling the razor after use, and don't mind the shave being as smooth, the Braun series 9 would be a good option.

Don't be worried about cutting yourself, but also don't press with any appreciable amount of force, either because that's counter-productive. If I were you and getting a shave like that, I would finish up with the trimmer to get those longer hairs you're missing. I think over time, you'll probably get used to it and it will work for you.

r/shaving · Braun Foil Shaver not working? Braun oftentimes pays people for positive reviews, especially on low-end and mid-range models. Braun Series 9 Pro+ is good, I am using it myself. I tried The Braun and the Philips S9000 Prestige and the Braun gives a way better shave on the neck and also causes less skin irritation. Philips Series 5000 - 8000 are basically the same shaver AFAIK so I wouldn‘t buy any of these models.

I could still see some hair despite going over it again and again despite all the hype ( which best shaver 5 years in a row ). It’s also really loud compared to my old series 5 and the head feels really awkward to use. I’m too busy to return the item and be without a shaver. I got it for £205 with the cleaning kit included so I’m glad I didn’t pay the £499 rrp. I would not recommend this series 9 pro+ guys honestly.

A week ago i bought the braun series 9pro+ shaver and all the bells and whistles pack charging case and washing station the station is crap its ment to dry the shaver after cleaning but it doesn't its rubbish infact I clean the shaver in hot running water and a toothbrush then dry it and oil it when done so now the shaver as a life long wet razor shaver I didnt expect it to shave this close well it does kinda I wet wash my face then use a teatowel soaked in a sink only hot water to make the hair softer and stand up even though its just stubble then add preserve gel which it feels like hair gel to be frank only used it once and shaver needed more cleaning in hot water so sacked it off so the shaver has the 94m head but you can buy the 96m which they say shaves even closer I haven't got one so cant say if does or doesn't so now I shaved with this shaver and I wasn't expecting great thing but its what I got the face after shaving was soft and smooth with something that felt as close as a blade but not 100% id say was 95% it shaves fast i apply pressure they say dont but I go by what feels right to me i can shave in about two mins which is pretty fast to be honest no need to faff about with shaving gel lathering up applying it and then shaving a little rinsing the razor and shaving more and so on and so on with the braun you just keep going until your done wet shave might take 5 mins but this is so much faster I have had a few cuts but not the bleeding needing toilet roll kind would I recommend it yeah I would I paid around £400 for all the bits ive bought like extra cleaning solution cassettes and extra blades and shave gel and post shave moisturisers but ive got enough for atleast 4 years no more buying blades or shave gel is it worth it prob not but if you want an electric shaver I would defrost pick this one again I pondered buying it for a few days then thought ah just do it and happily glad I did if you are the same id say buy it you will be pleasantly surprised.

Got mine today bought everything pre shave gel and after shave balms loads of cleaning station liquids and 3 extra blades cost a fortune but thats fine had my first shave after charging it and gotta say im very surprised how decent it is leaves the tiniest amount of hair behind but doesn't feel like stubble if that makes sense I tried an older model many years ago and it snagged and pulled hair put me off but just wanted to try this model as popped up a couple of times on amazon so ordered it did the first shave without anything on my face didnt use a hot towel either to draw the beard up I did a hair clippers run over my face two days ago which does leave stubble bit I wanted that so it grew by the time this arrived and got my shave done in two minutes max even got pretty close to my mustache for first try the sideburns did a decent job too then rinsed and used the cleaning station which is pretty loud and seems to take forever but all in all happy with this razor and got a very close shave not quite a wet razor close but doesn't leave your faslce feeling rough either id but it again now I know how decent it is if your thinking of buying one but not sure id say go for it not sure how long the battery will last if anyone knows if be interested in knowing.

As of today I've had 9 longer and never had to relace the foils. I havr a new one readybt go on. I havent needed to. . The cleaning kit has tw benefits. Obviously cleaning it keeps the sharp parts sharper. Longer. But it also charges it. So it's always ready with a full charge and doesn't get knocked off the counter or knocked around like plugging the cord on the 7bid. My none also came with a rubbber comfort plus head. Seems stupid. But swapping it on and running it over your skin before using the actual cutting head, Does im prove the shave quality. A noticeable amount

I always had skin irritation + micro abrasions 10+ years ago with electrics shaving wet or with any kind of cream or foam and for how much they cost I swore off of them. I used to really like the mach 3.. these 5, 7, infinite blade manual blades suck. I did try the straight blade safety as well but it wasnt very impressive for me. Bought this Braun a few months ago and saw a post while researching it suggesting dry shaving. I can use it daily and I have zero irritation and its one of the closest shaves I've ever had. I don't know how anyone else might rate them but they got my business back, at least for now. I have never tried a norelco howver. Most posts I've read list it as #1. Irritation can also be caused by bacteria if his shaver isnt well cared for.

Ive just got my series 9 pro plus, and it's already becoming my ideal, best all round shaver. As ive said many times, everyone has a unique combination of skin-bristle toughness types. What's great for one person can be bad for someone else. But for ME, it gives me a quick, close shave that no other shaver has been able to match. It shaves as close as my arc 5,but without the annoying noise. The panasonic was also a lot slower of a shave.

r/BuyItForLife · Head shaver and face shaver. I'm done getting my hair cut, and tired of cheap electric face shavers needing to be replaced every 2 years. I had a Series 7 for around 10 years. I recently upgraded to the 9 Pro+. It's definitely much nicer. It's not cheap, it's a bit bulky for travel, and it requires more maintenance than a safety razor, but if you prefer an electric shave, I think it's the way to go.

I used soap and personally found it a night and day difference. It was still not as good as a razor, but it take care of a lot of hairs on my neck when I hit it with all angles.

It came with a cleaning base which keeps them sanitized and rust free so they last a while. My neck is so much happier that follicles aren’t getting red and irritated every 3 days any more, skin actually can heal.

I got my braun 7 in 2016 and it still works but the reset button stopped working and said I needed to change the razor head even though I put a new one on. The 9 has a closer shave then my 7. If this 9 lasts as long as my old one I'll be happy.

It glides better, doesn’t irritate my neck, and the cleaning station makes maintenance easy. If you shave daily, comfort matters as much as closeness. I’d say Braun is the better all‑rounder, even if Panasonic wins the crown.

I'm ending up with a super patchy shave (my hair growth is already slightly patchy) and like you say, no matter what I do it's barely trimming. It's also utterly useless for around the lip area and sideburns, and I have a lot of trouble with it not gliding nicely around the chin. I thought it was user error as well but I feel like maybe it's not now.

Now, less than a year old, this razor refuses to switch on even at full charge, and after keeping it in an almost new-like condition. Every time I press the button, which, btw, seems fragile, the screen displays a plug icon and… radio silence. Is this what you get after paying for one of the most expensive electric shavers in the market. So so disappointing. Please stay away from Braun if anyone is planning to purchase

The shave is not close enough as compared with Panasonic Arc series (5 or 6 blades). Particularly the area under the nose (moustache). However, Panasonic batteries are really bad and die within a year or two, I owned 4 different models of them (planned obsolescence?). This is why I switched to Braun.

After that, daily it is a piece of cake!!! Just get used to going left and right as well as up and down. In a week, you’ll have a hang of it, and you’ll look great daily with a 4 minute routine. Best purchase I’ve made in 10 years, in terms of my grooming. Mine came with the cleaning station, and I use it every time I use the razor. It smells all lemony and clean. It’s a magnificent piece of kit.

Even if I shave wet, it still irritates my skin. - lining up the sideburns is not so easy, there is an seperate trimmer attachment that will do the job, but its impractical compared to the integrated trimmer of the Braun - the shave is not as close as the Braun, but the neck is definitely smoother with the philips Braun Series 9 pro +: + much more gentle on the skin, but only If I shave wet with it which I strongly recommend if you have sensitive skin. My routine is to apply proraso sensitive preshave cream, then gel or foam and frequently rinse the braun with icecold water. + integrated trimmer, so easy and quick to line up those sweet sideburns + it shaves incredible close, but the neck part is sloppy and you can feel still stubble after shaving, but everything other than the neck is insane smooth (bbs). - it struggles on the neck and shave is not as close - dont let the hair grow too long, it will struggle. Trim it before shaving. I shave every second day. - struggles with flat hairs - pretty loud Conclusion: I have extremely sensitive skin and because of that the Braun is the winner in my book. +

r/shaving · I am amazed by how awful the Braun Series 9 Pro is Interesting. I liked it a lot. I bought it and the flagship Norelco. They each performed very close to each other. The norelco did my sides better but the 9 pro+ did better everywhere else. I think it really varies per person.

r/shaving · Need tips and recommendations please There was a time I only used cartridge razors and at some point my skin just wouldn't tolerate it. Tried cheap electric shaver, didn't work, eventually a trimmer, didn't work and after a long time of bad skin I bought a safety razor. Took things slow, tried different razors inside the safety razor, different soaps for lather used alum block, tried different after shaves and eventually my skin got better to the point it isn't really that sensitive anymore. Now I'm using a good electric shaver (Braun s9 pro+) which also works without irritating. No skin is the same, you should try what works for you. If your skin is oily maybe best to avoid a after shave balm and use a lotion for example. Generally a safety razor is considered good for sensitive skin, less passes with blades and a cleaner cut which makes ingrown hairs etc. more rare.

r/shaving · Braun series 9 pro+ - Does a cleaning station worth it? Truly is not! it shaves okay, if you shave every day but you will still need a normal razor for hardest part. But the real scam are the razor head and the cleaning station. Razor head break easily and without warnings, you always have to have a spare one in the cabinet or you won't shave that day. The cleaning station is another \`subscription fee\` that works half of the time until stops completely roughly 2 years after I got it.

I tried the Braun 9 pro+ and the Philips s9000. Both were gentle on my neck, but because I have whorls on my neck the s9000 gives a more even shave.

r/shaving · Wahl Shaver: Works great when my barber uses it on - Makes my skin red whenever I use it on myself I have a Braun S9 Pro+, but I also have an S5, as well as a Philips i9000 Prestige. I'd say the S5 and S9 Pro+ give a comparable close shave, the difference is the S9 Pro+ is incredibly comfortable and shaves faster. I read somewhere that the S3 and S5 use the same cassette, that is, that the S5 cassette will fit the S3 and vice versa. When it comes to closeness, we all have some weird spots that can't be baby bottom smooth no matter how many passes we do. If you can't succeed with a wet razor, you won't succeed with an electric shaver either. I personally am satisfied because there's no more rash on my neck after shaving and everything is perfectly clean and shiny after using the cleaning station.

r/shaving · Panasonic Arc 5 Palm or Braun Series 9 Pro+ I ended up with the 9 pro+ with the new 96m head. The package I got came with an extra head(the 96m head is impossible to find in the states right now). I love it. The Arc5 is great but rhe new Braun head is much closer to the arc5 than anything else and with a goatee, its much easier to manipulate. Plus it seems to be much better on the linger hairs since I only shave 2-3 times a week these days. Anyway, you will love Arc5. I did when I was shaving every day. It is a great shaver. They all have their pluses and minuses.

r/shaving · Shaving noob here tell me plz Which is better 5 blade raxor or 3 blade or Single blade safety razor I used to use the Mac 3 and they’re decent especially for learning and getting started so I think that’s a good place to start. But these days I use the Fusion 5 as the little blade on the back can be quite useful for tighter slots and I think the 5 blades get the closest shave with a cartridge head razor I’ve found so far. Sometimes I find the disposable blue 2 or blue 3 go into the lines where I’m keeping my longer beard quite well and are useful to cut into some of the bits where it’s harder to judge where the 5 blade is as it’s easier to sort of feel what’s going on with the 2 or 3 blade disposable ones so generally I like to keep some of them to hand too. I mainly keep a roughly 5mm -2cm long beard all over and daily clean up the neck line and cheeks for regrowth. About every 6 weeks or so I bring it low down to about 2ml and start all over again with some quite cheap electric beard clippers I’ve had the last few years. Sometimes if I’m in a bit of a rush I might use my Braun series 9 Pro+ which is a really really good electric foil shaver and gets really close for an electric one and it has a handy little trimmer feature too which is handy for quick mustache tidying up or sideburns. Another tip I have is invest in a good aftershave balm my favorite is Tabac - OMG it smells glorious and feels good going on it’s probably a b it grandpa but I love

I do this with Speick pre electric shave lotion(it’s actually a liquid) and wet shave with Speick shave cream and use Nivea Sensitive cool post shave balm after. It is far better than any razor I’ve ever used manual or electric and the wet shave with everything else makes it much better. I just bought a new Braun 9 Pro + on sale from Amazon with the cleaning station and it’s even better than my old Braun 9.

r/shaving · Ordered a Philjps Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra. Mistake? I have the prestige ultra as well and it’s a great shaver. Prolly one of the most comfortable I’ve used and l have sensitive skin. I will say I just got the Braun s9 pro + and I like them both. I think the Braun leaves a smoother feel and cuts closer, but the Phillips is more comfortable and still cuts close. The Braun tends to cause more irritation for me. I do use a pre shave with both of them though. I think you just need to find what works best for your skin and face.

Good time to upgrade then. I’m gonna sit tight and be a little patient for once to see if Amazon comes down a bit. Then I’ll try it and just return it if it’s crap. They’ve got my hopes up with this. I was well impressed with S9 pro+, but for a little neck issue.
Its available on Amazon and Braun USA. I might bite on this. I returned the S9 pro+ because although it was absolutely amazing overall (super close, smooth, comfortable—-and I have very sensitive skin), there was still a bit of trouble on the neck with some hairs it just couldn’t get no matter how many passes or directions. If this new one can sort me out there, I’ll be laughing.
