Shark NeverChange

It doesn't filter odors, the odor neutralizer comes in "capsules" that release a pleasant smell that "neutralizes" whatever other odor might be in the air. The name is a bit dishonest IMO, the hepa filter does need replacement, the part that doesn't need change is the pre-filter that "protects" the hepa filter from saturating sooner. Most companies have this. Props to the marketing team though, they managed to fit almost every good looking fancy word in 1 product

What’s the point of “never change” if it needs replacement filters?

I know this is an old post, but I have a feeling others will want to find it. I bought it back in October 2023 when all I could find on reviews were paid reviews. I risked it, since I needed to find an air filter after outdoor smells kept overtaking our house (yay for Country life living, people burning, and skunks LOL). Honestly this air purifier worked well. It always does the job I wanted it to. They have washable/cleanable filters on the sides that will indicate when they need washed. It claims to save you for changing filters out for 5 years, but if you look it says "replacing filters on a competitor unit over 5-year period in 300 square foot space". So take that with a grain of salt. Recently the sensor IQ is on fritz. I've cleaned out the inside of the unit, the washable filters, and even vacuumed the main filter to remove some of the dust to see if it'd help. It will go up to nearly 100% but then slowly decrease and stay around 60% until I try cleaning it again. I'm changing it to another room and see if that changes anything. (Couldn't hurt, right). Not sure if I need to replace the filter already, but if it only lasted four months than it's definitely not worth it. To be determined. I'll see if I missed anything tomorrow. The "Odor Neutralizer Technology" for me is horrible. It's essentially an overpowering pine-like? smell which for asthmatics and people with allergies, like me, looking to reduce the smells doesn't help. Thankfully you can pull it out of the dial and put the dial back in without it. So right now I say I'm undecided as I have no clue why the sensor IQ is behaving that way.

Yeah for some reason I'm not sold. Do you really not want to change your filter after catching all that gunk in the air? You should be changing your filters every 6-12 months depending on load. You could go for it, but I would buy enough filters to last a few years. You're better off getting an air purifier that: a) has easily replaceable filters b) can accept generic HEPA filters or doesn't require some BS propietary filter design looking at you Happi Air This way you're not at the mercy of the company if they stop making the filters and won't have to pay their outrageous prices. You'll also have flexibility to switch to a different manufacturer if needed. The carbon-based filters do work pretty well to stop smells (tested in my car), but they usually command a higher premium as a result and require even more frequent replacement ~3 months. If possible, try to tackle the source of the problem by deep cleaning with a deodorizer (1:10 vinegar solution or Zero Odor Pro . I don't have any recommendations as of right now for other filters, but I'm also looking and will update if I find anything worthwhile - also looking for a replacement air purifier since I can't buy Happi filters grumble ... edit: check this consumer reports article

The odor neutralizer smell is awful! Definitely not “neutralizing .” I’m curious why have the machine put a smell out when it was made to remove smells. Oh well, I have just removed that pet and it is fine.

I’ve got one now. We bought it after my husband started having allergic reactions to the pup I rescued. So it has these two filters on either side that you can pull out and wipe the dust/hair off of. You do have to change the filter but only once per 5 years I believe

Non.
