r/Roborock · S8 MaxV Ultra or something different?

A tip is to buy some white vinegar (dont buy the strongest stuff) and throw a splash of it into the dirty water tank, which i HIGHLY recommend emptying daily because it will VERY quickly smell rank, even if you dont have particularly dirty floors.

r/RobotVacuums · Help me decide - yet another Dreame X50 vs Roborock Saros 10R

Save your money and go with last year’s Dreame X40 with the tri-cut brush roller. I have the Saros 10R. It’s a PITA. Gets stuck all the time under cabinets and in odd places. It’s a poor performer compared to my S8 MaxV Ultra. The OA only works in SmartPlan mode, otherwise you get nothing. I also have the X40. It’s still a good bot with decent battery life and good obstacle avoidance. And you’d be saving a ton of money.

r/Roborock · Should I upgrade from S8 Pro Ultra to Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow?

I recently updated from an S7 Max Ultra to a Curve 2 Flow and the difference is pretty awesome. I have 2 shedding dogs and one toddler and it's been great so far. I have exclusively hard floors and only a few rugs so I really appreciate the mop. It seems to actually clean the floors with the liquid vs mop the dirt around like the previous vacuum. It's the reason I chose it over the Saros 10r. I put the old S7 down in the basement, but I'm looking forward to the day they release a Saros model with a roller mop so the vacuum can get all the fun tech features. As for upgrading from the S8 Pro, my parents have the S8 MaxV Ultra and I'd consider the Curve 2 Flow an upgrade from their vac. Since you're in a carpet-free situation like mine I'd definitely recommend the Curve 2 Flow.

r/RobotVacuums · Dreame L40 ultra ae (Australia) spare mop pads?

A few things, it's not very wide, so the robot has to do a lot of passes and takes a long time. It squishes dirt into the grouting of my tiles. The grouting is much filthier with this thing. Could be that it's not very good at vacuuming either so the mop is trying to do the heavy lifting, but failing. Leaves little puddles of dirty water around the place, like a teaspoon worth. Just not very good in general. The best mop I have used is surprisinglt the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, which has an older drag mop style, but vibrates. works better than the spinny mops I have tried so far and that roller mop from the ecovacs. I think the roller mop has potential to be better once they design and engineering has been improved, but so far, not so good, albeit I did try it on the worst of the worst brands it seems. Just got the Saros 10R and setting it up today. I have hopes that it will have better spinny mop performance than the cheap Q series bots and the Dreame machines. Finding out shortly!

    r/Roborock · Saros 10R - 1 Year Review Update

Well seems like I'm on a similar journey. I have 2 border collies and a cat, but also now I run a doggy boarding house out of my home, so often have an avg of 8 dogs running around! Still have an old S5(bought secondhand) and this was the best bot for Vacuum/dusting. It still does a better job than any dustbot I have used but was useless for mopping. They have been going slowly downhill in dustbin size and design since, starting with the S6(got one of them in the garage too). Since the start of 2024 I have returned 2 Dreame's, a Qrevo and an S8MVU(good bot, lidar failed) and an Ecovacs X11. Finally now using Saros 10R! Just to clarify, which side brush keeps breaking? The extendable mop or the little new extendable side brushy thing? It does look pretty dinky and have already assumed it will be the first to break. But now I have turned on the "Beta" crevice cleaning, thinking it was just added recently haha. It's pretty rough on the extendable mop mechanism in that mode, but it does get in to some good gaps! I actually find it uses to little water to wash my mop pads, wish it would use a bit more as the mop pads need to be chucked in the laundry frequently, I probably swap them out once a week now, but mine do get used a LOT. Finding it ok for hair as long as I keep up the schedule, if I miss running it for a day, I have to just do a couple of rooms at a time till we catch up. I probably have to rotate the robots filter twice a week, it just clogs up too much. I'm at the stage where I would probably buy seperate vacuum and mopping bot's if they were available.

r/RobotVacuums · Long hair friendly Auto Vacuum?

Your AI is borked. ChatGPT is ok at robovacs but most of them just interpret marketing guff into recommendations! No one should be recommending an Irobot as they are going broke. No roborock bots? They are arguably the best at hair, especially the dual rollers on some. Eufy = chinese crap, Narwal have some new espensive bots but by all accounts they are having a lot of teething issues. Dreame are just crap roborocks. Any roborock, even the single rollers since they started making the q series, they have rollers that can twist off the hair for later pickup. The dual roller like the S8 MaxV Ultra are built for this purpose so if you have a wife with long blonde hair, than get something like that. Some bots you can get these aftermarket brushes that cut hair, I have never used one as the new roborocks seems to handle the hair pretty well. This is literally the only area they have improved their tech!

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

Two things can be true. First, the mop pad does not extend, so it doesn't reach into corners. tho, I firmly (and controversially) believe vibrating mop pads like the S8 are better at getting out grime and stains than rollers or spinning mops. Frankly, even the mops that DO extend aren't great at edges and corners. Its just part of robot mopping.

Ugh. Roombas. In either floor, I think the answer is an s8 MaxV Ultra or a Saros 10R. Roborock towers, i'm pretty sure, have hepa filters on the tower, and you can replace the fine dust filter on the robot itself as often as you think necessary (it should be cleaned much more often than most people do). Althought the S8 is fantastic, i think the saros might be better in the bedrooms because it uses cameras in addition to the LiDAR, and navigating under beds might be better. In either case, I think you'll be quite happy. Here's the s8: [https://amzn.to/45VQExU](https://amzn.to/45VQExU) and the 10R [https://amzn.to/44xZsHS](https://amzn.to/44xZsHS)

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

ALL of the roborocks I recommend (and most robots) can be used on more than one floor. The S8 MaxV Ultra went on sale for 950 today, and that won't fall away for a day or two. I don't think the problem is with Eureka, I think its Amazon, and you just waited until they were out of stock. I still say that's the one to get, and to get three of them. Since the s8 deal will last til tomorrow, lets see if I hear back from Eureka, and if not, you could try buying direct from Eureka, where the Ultra is still on sale.

I mean that's dramatically more money but yeah, for sure the S8 maxv ultra. It's one of my all-time favorites. And it's supposed to go on sale again around the 11th for about $ 900 or 950? But I'd really consider That ultra because with your budget you could get one for every single floor. I mean you could mix it up a little bit and get I know 40 and a j15 and then one more expensive one and see which one you like.

    Grande surfaceQualité-prix
r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

Sure. Let me talk about it a little. I think the S8MVU stays that high priced because it continues to have such favor. It was most reviewers top pick (I don't have another explanation, this is a guess). And honestly, it shares most of the functionality in the Saros. Don't worry about the Pa (suction)... its not as important, by far, [https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum](https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum) The Saros is a jump ahead, but usually, I feel its not enough of a jump ahead to justify the 700$ difference between the S8MVU and the Saros. I think it's 300$+/- worth. So, if its within that range, go with a Saros. Now, WHICH Saros. the 10 is like the S8, and the 10R like the Qrevo. I prefer the 10 for mopping, and the 10R on navigation. It's a split. Either would likely make you happy. Bottom line: I know its a huge decision, but if you make yourself crazy overthinking it, it's not worth it. Any of these three will be great robots.

    r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Deals

I only experience streaks when there were stains on the floor that didn't get completely cleaned. Otherwise, not a big problem. I didn't love the X9, but that's me.... The curv and S8 Maxv Ultra are not on sale.... and are about the price of the 10R, so you might as well get the 10R, IMO.

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

Actually I think it's pretty simple. I would go with a S8 maxv ultra or Saros 10r. And good news is that the 10r is on sale next week. But the S8 model I'm mentioning is already a year old, so you should be able to find a pretty good price. Both are fantastic on carpet and good with navigation, which to me is kind of the bigger issue, particularly in bedrooms and in particular, as these robots navigate under beds. In that way, the tenor might be better just because it has that internal lidar and the AI assisted cameras. But in terms of vacuuming, they're both pretty great.

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

Fine, bub, just saying your mom would love me:) So you've got two different classes of roborocks to look at. You've got the S8 maxv ultra, the curv/edge and the qrevo maxv... All around the same level of efficacy and cost. They're about a year old... And all great! Then you've got the saros 10 and 10r. Also great and have some improvements over the other class, but not enough to justify a huge change in price. I would say about $300 US dollars worth. If it's more than that, stick with something like the curve or S8.

r/Roborock · Returning my Qrevo Curv After 2 Weeks Of USE, 50 Sessions + - Honest Review

You are correct - only the S8 MaxV Ultra has this feature. Most of the other robots I've used (mainly iRobot) don't have this feature either. They just advise you to add a small amount to the clean water tank. The S8 does it automatically. The issue I have is with the dirty water tank. It smells if you don't empty it frequently. I've read there are cartridges you can buy to deodorize, but I haven't tried that yet.

r/Roborock · Returning my Qrevo Curv After 2 Weeks Of USE, 50 Sessions + - Honest Review

To be clear, I'm not being paid and I don't need the test device they gave me. I already have an S8 MaxV Ultra. I agree the difference between devices isn't massive, but at least Roborock appears to be making incremental improvements and is actually developing the product, some might even argue too quickly. The plethora of models can be confusing. To me, the S8 vs. Curv is very similar, but I see the Curv performing much better with tangles. When I tried my S8 in the same area for a few weeks, the hair buildup was noticeable and needed to be cleared every few times it cleaned the floor. The deep pile carpet feature (where it raises the body) seems largely ineffective. I find the performance of the vacuum better with it turned off. This would probably be corrected if we could adjust the height, or even better if it would detect and adjust automatically. The other obvious difference is the change of aesthetics to the base itself. This iteration didn't do much for me, but I'm very glad to see them paying attention to looks.

r/RobotVacuums · Suggestions? Narwal Freo Z Ultra vs. Roborock S8 MaxV

I just sold my S8 MaxV Ultra in anticipation of the Freo Z Ultra… the spinning brushes are far superior in floor cleaning. I also have a Q Revo, it is a better mopping robot, though it lacks the rgb camera for proper obstacle avoidance. The Freo Z seems to have amazing obstacle avoidance and I kind of like that it goes and washes the mop and doesn’t just keep mopping with dirty brushes throughout the whole house.

    r/RobotVacuums · 3rd Robot Vacuum recommendation's attempt. Can spend up to 1500€.

With **80 m², hard floors, auto‑empty, and a Bernese**, your problem isn’t navigation or mopping — it’s **hair throughput**. The Eufys failing makes total sense; their internal bins are just too small for that level of shedding. At **up to €1500**, I’d realistically only look at **three models**: ### ✅ **Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra** Probably the safest recommendation. - Excellent **dual rubber rollers** → very good with heavy dog hair - Large dust handling + reliable **auto‑empty** - Strong mopping on tile (vibra mop is solid on marble) - Very mature software + mapping - Low babysitting once set up This is the one most people with big shedding dogs end up happy with. --- ### ✅ **Dreame X40 Ultra / L20 Ultra** Strong alternative if priced well where you are. - Massive suction - Good hair pickup (not quite Roomba‑level, but strong) - Very good mop handling on hard floors - Dock is capable but slightly more maintenance than Roborock Good choice if you want strong mopping + automation, but Roborock is still more “set and forget”. --- ### ⚠️ **iRobot Roomba Combo j9+** Worth mentioning because of your dog. - **Best hair handling in the industry**, period - Large bin, doesn’t clog easily - Great edge cleaning But: - Navigation is worse than Roborock/Dreame - Mopping is basic compared to the others - Louder and slower If vacuuming dog hair is the #1 priority and mopping is secondary, this still makes sense. --- ### What I would **avoid** (based on your experience) - Any Eufy Omni for heavy‑shedding dogs - Anything with small internal bins - Anything that relies on bristle brushes instead of rubber --- ### Practical tip for Bernese owners (important) Even with a €1500 robot: - Run **vacuum‑only daily** - Mop every 2–3 days - Clean wheels weekly (dog hair will kill docking otherwise — exactly what you saw) --- ### My blunt pick for your case If you want **least hassle + best balance**: 👉 **Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra** If you want **maximum dog‑hair dominance**: 👉 **Roomba j9+ (accept weaker mopping)**

r/homeowners · Do any of you use robovac? worth it or just a scam?

They’re definitely not a scam if you get a good one. The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is a strong option, especially for homes with dogs, debris, rugs, and hardwood. It has excellent pet hair pickup, strong suction, great object avoidance, and very good sonic mopping, plus a dock that handles most of the maintenance automatically. FWIW my mate and I were researching robovacs recently and used RedditRecs to see which ones people consistently recommend here. The S8 MaxV Ultra shows up a lot and usually sits around $659 on Amazon or $899 at Walmart. Some links are affiliate and help fund the analysis.

    r/Roborock · Share Your Real Reviews & Expectations — Win a Saros 20! ✨

I have been using the S8 MaxV Ultra for a while now and really like the auto detergent dispenser. It’s one of those features that makes the whole process feel a lot more automated since I don’t have to think about it every time I run a cycle. My honest feedback after using it is that while the vibrating mop is fine for light maintenance, it sometimes struggles with the tougher, dried-on spots in my kitchen. That is why the Saros 20 caught my eye. I am mostly interested in seeing how much of a difference the dual spinning mops make compared to the vibration style I have now. I'm also interested in the improved ease of cleaning the new dock as well as detachable mop heads. The new ability for the vacuum to actually raise its body higher is also a huge draw for me. My house has some slightly higher transitions between rooms that occasionally give my current robot a hard time, so seeing a flagship that can literally lift itself over those hurdles is a big improvement. I'm also hoping it will be able to scale other obstacles like chair legs so I don't need to be so careful about organizing the furniture :P. I really like that its slim enough to fit under my low furniture like couch, TV stand and bed, while significantly bumping up the suction power. It feels like it would finally handle the deep cleaning so I don't have to make my own occasional passes.

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations from a Robot Tester

If you love eufy, and the E25/E28 works for your needs then I don't see the need in returning it. It'll still get the job done. Our tests push robots to their limits, so it's important to take them with a grain of salt. That being said, here are a couple of alternatives. If you really want a roller mop, I'd suggest the Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni. It does a fantastic job at mopping. It's good for hard floor pickup, does a decent job on carpet, but was just okay with pet hair on carpet. Dual rollers would be the most ideal for pet hair usually. The Roborock Qrevo Slim has the same dual rollers as the S8 MaxV, which did really well with carpet and pet hair, and has the same mopping system as the other Qrevos which generally do well. For the cat accidents, we don't test for spills, so unfortunately I wouldn't be able to provide much info for that. Some will look out for spills, though, and turn off the vacuum, although I don't know how effective those are.

r/RobotVacuums · Black Friday Week Tips/Recommendations from a Robot Tester.

The S8 MaxV Ultra is the best for pet hair on carpet and does a good job on hard floor, and you can find it at Best Buy. For something a little cheaper, the Qrevo Slim is also a good option. If you have a smaller budget, the L10s Pro Ultra with the Tri-Cut should do a decent job as well. Hope this helps!

r/RobotVacuums · Black Friday Week Tips/Recommendations from a Robot Tester.

If you want a roller mop, then the Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni. If not, the S8 MaxV Ultra is among the best for carpet. There's also the Qrevo Slim which I haven't tested, but has a similar brush roller style, slightly newer obstacle avoidance system, spinning mop pads and is the same price.

r/Roborock · S8 MaxV Ultra or something different?

We’ve had repeated errors with the S8 MaxV Ultra. It keeps saying “Internal Error: Reset the Robot” and won’t run for more than a few minutes now.  Hopefully they will fix it for free because we are just inside the warranty (11 months). But you would certainly expect a $1500 device to last longer.  Overall, we love the machine when it is working. Only negative is it goes over cat vomit (apparently the cameras don’t see this the same way as dog mess, I suppose?)

r/RobotVacuums · Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy

Amanda, I’m sorry to bother you again, but after my not-so-great experience with the Dreame, this time I really want to make a safe choice. While waiting for Amazon’s Prime Day to start the day after tomorrow, I’ve been watching a lot of reviews about the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. What worries me is the high price (around €1,000), especially considering it’s already about a year old, and the suction power that—at least in terms of numbers—seems noticeably lower than many other robots. Do you think it’s worth spending a bit more to get a **Saros 10/10R** instead? (On Amazon Italy, both are currently on sale for under €1,200.)
