Hisense C1

Hisense C1, packshot

    r/projectors · 2 Weeks with the Hisense C1

Oh yeah, I'm super susceptible and once I see it I can't not see it, so annoying and one of the reasons I'll basically never buy a projector that's not an Epson at this point.

    r/projectors · 2 Weeks with the Hisense C1

Interesting, I wouldn't think a laser projector would have RBE but I've never tried one out. Or is it possible Hisense is fudging on using laser to describe it when it's actually a DLP? Either way at 1500 you're better off just getting an Epson 3800, 3LCD is the only way I'll go at this point.

    r/projectors · Epson 5050ub vs Hisense C2 Pro

I had a refurb 5050 that malfunctioned and was going to cost $1700 to repair (main board and optical board) so I abandonded it. The best thing about that projector it fit in a soffit and I could lens shift it to my screen so it was invisible in the room. I tried the LS11000 and the Hisense C1 and ultimately picked the C1, I thought it offered a compelling price/performance ratio. I've really enjoyed the it and I think it's very punchy compared to the 5050. No, it doesn't have the same black levels, but it handles Dolby Vision and HDR and I think it plays older TV shows much more cleanly than the 5050 did. You have so many good choices now, the C1 is only a few years old but the market has been so active for lifestyle projectors. XGimi, Valerion, Nebula all have products that continue to chip away at black levels. Looks of good choices for the consumer. Good luck!

r/projectors · Triple Laser Speckle - How bad is yours and should I return my projector?

Yep, Hisense C1. I do benefit from a product that has been out since late 2023 so any hardware/software niggles I hope have been ironed out.  I just use my wall so in a way the surface may be more forgiving but the pixel array up close is more grid-like and not grainy. So sitting back everything looks nice and crisp and you don’t notice any speckling.

r/projectors · Benq tk710 vs hisense c1 vs xgimi horizon ultra

I would put the xgimi horizon ultra a model grade above the C1 and thus it’s more expensive. I would def go that one if you can afford. Not sure about the benq.  The C1 would compete with the horizon pro spec wise. I just bought a c1 on order as the sale price put it in my budget while the other models weren’t discounted as much as thus out of budget.

    r/projectors · I've just ordered a BenQ W2720i...

I've gone down the LED route because I've experienced laser speckle with the Hisense C1 (trilaser), and didn't like the colour of the Dangbei dbox02 (laser phosphor). I was ready to buy the LG HU710PW as per TechNick's suggestion, but I had a last minute impulse to try the 4LED. I would have bought the x500i but the too short throw doesn't fit my room setup. If I don't like the w2720 I'll go either for a second hand Epson tw-9400 or a big screen TV

    r/projectors · 2 Weeks with the Hisense C1

Ouch I’m sorry to hear about the issues! Seems to be more and more common of late. Pros: They are both laser while I’m sure many enjoy led etc.. I think they give a more crisp image. EF-12 is powerful and the image truly is great. But the C1 is lights out to me maybe it’s pseudo but thus far I’ve enjoyed the image and adjustability of the C1 dv on Netflix and Disney is great. The other big issue I had was my soundbar and some equipment didn’t want to work with the EF-12 trying to do certain features would cause it blink or “glitch” might have just been the HDMI ports didn’t support or I just didn’t hook something up correctly as well. The C1 I’ve had no issues thus far get ATMOS from my soundbar I can use auto adjust frame rate etc. If you’re happy with the money spent EF-12 is great and I’m sure you’ll be happy but if you’re like me and always crave a lil more I’d get the C1 orrr you could big ball it and message @projectionhead and get one of the new C2 ultras they have in.

    r/projectors · 2 Weeks with the Hisense C1

Also no haven’t measured anything definitely viewed videos on the methods etc.. but I have a TCL Q7 in the house which is a pretty decent spec tv and it feels as appeasing.

    r/projectors · Hisense C1 vs Hisense C2 vs Epson 5050UB

If you have good flexibility with placement, there’s nothing wrong with the C1. I have it and love it. However, it has no keystone, no optical zoom, no lens shift, and an extremely short throw distance. If none of those things are an issue use for you, then the C1 is awesome. I’ve never seen a C2 in person, but it fixed all of those issues and has a higher lumens brightness. It is permanently attached to a gimbal. Honestly, if my C1 ever goes out, I’m getting the C2 Ultra no questions asked. I can’t tell you much about the Epson other than it’s massively larger than the other ones. I would say that people will give you a lot of information about their experiences online, but they gloss over those little things like fan noise and the amount of heat the projector gives out. There are other things that matter to me like having to auto focus every time or the projector defaulting to it’s internal OS and not the hdmi port. Before I bought the C1 I had a BenQ and I would have to reset the focus each time I powered it up (defective unit I think) and if there was a heater on in the room, the fans would take off like a jet engine. I returned it and got the C1 which was hard to position but had none of those issues.

This review? https://www.mondoprojos.fr/2024/09/11/test-hisense-c2-ultra-le-projecteur-trichroma-4k-avec-design-lifestyle/ The ultra has dynamic contrast which is almost 3x that of the c1 and the brightness helps in a well lit room on screen of any size. MondoProjos’s have this a double gold, that is a tremendous rating.

I say this as someone who has been using my iota for 1.5 weeks and as someone brand new to the projector world, so take my opinion with those disclaimers: HDR is beautiful. The difference in content is impressive when you turn HDR off and on quickly. While the ultra is known for poor contrast/black levels, it is also known for having extremely accurate color replication. For my needs, the contrast issue isn’t an issue. However, if you’re a big into films, don’t have gaming needs, or don’t have a spouse obsessed with aesthetics, the Hisense C1 is probably a better choice based on my purchasing research. r/projectors · Best projector for my use case (~€1,200 budget): BenQ TK710 vs Hisense C2 vs BenQ TK705i?

Two numbers cut through this. Size first: at 3-4 m viewing distance the usual \~30 degree field of view guideline lands you around a 100-120" image. Second, brightness while you're still on a white wall. A bare wall reflects less and handles ambient light worse than any screen, so for your first months lumens matter more than color tech. The TK710 is rated 3200 lumens. Hisense's compact triple lasers in that class run 1300-1600 (the C1 from the same family is spec'd 1600). Prettier triple laser color won't survive a lit room at 100+ inches, and that's really the whole decision until the ALR arrives. One placement check for the TK710 (throw ratio 1.15-1.5): a 100" image needs 2.5-3.3 m of throw, 120" needs 3.1-4.0 m. Make sure your mounting spot allows it. I'd do the used TK710 under 1000 and put the savings toward getting the ALR screen sooner. That combo beats either 1200 euro option for movie nights.

    r/hometheater · OLED vs 4K Projector

Your room conditions and viewing distance actually make this a genuinely interesting call rather than an obvious one either way — so the research paralysis makes sense. **The viewing distance number is the key input here.** At 8 feet, a 65" OLED puts you at roughly a 43-degree field of view. That's already legitimately immersive — closer to "cinema" than most people realize until they sit in front of it. The Bravia 8 at that distance in a light-controlled room with a blackout curtain is going to be one of the better picture experiences available at any price point. OLED in a dark room at close range is the use case the technology was built for. You'd be sitting in its ideal environment. **The projector counterargument at your budget is real but has a catch.** $1,500 for a 4K projector gets you into laser short-throw territory if you shop carefully — the Hisense C1 has been available around $800-$900 and punches well above its price on a proper screen. A 100"+ image at 8 feet is a categorically different physical experience than a 65" panel. The reflected-light-easier-on-eyes point you raised is something a lot of people genuinely feel after extended sessions — it's not just marketing. The catch: that $1,500 projector budget gets tighter fast once you add a proper fixed-frame screen ($200–$500 for something worth having), and projectors have more setup friction — lens alignment, keystone correction, ambient light sensitivity even with blackout curtains if there's any light bleed. **What I'd actually ask yourself:** Is your priority the best possible image in a 65" window, or the physical experience of a wall-sized image even if the per-pixel quality is lower? Those are genuinely different things and neither answer is wrong. If you've never sat 8 feet from a 65" OLED in a dark room, find a way to do that before deciding. Best Buy will let you get close enough. A lot of people who think they want a projector sit down in front of a C4 or Bravia 8 at close range and the question answers itself. Some people sit there and still want the wall. Both reactions are valid. At your budget, $1,500 buys a very good OLED TV or an entry-level projector setup with a screen. It doesn't buy a great projector setup with a screen. That's the honest constraint.

r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Ultra for €1100 worth it?

Unfortunately that I can't tell you, I was just looking into it earlier in the year and remembered coming to the conclusion that the C1 would be a better choice. I've not bought it yet but after Christmas it's next thing on the list. I'm pretty sure that XGIMI have a big internet presence with paid reviews and as such they are over rated. Not that they're awful or anything but when it comes to actual independent testing they seem to underperform and I've seen many comments unhappy with the blacks on the horizon. Hisense C1 should be a beast though, I don't think you can go wrong if you're happy with it's software etc (I can get a used one on eBay in new condition for £650 here) the Valerian Vision master Pro was the best I saw, but quite hard to get your hands on where I am and more expensive.

r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Ultra for €1100 worth it?

https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/s/byTwkeKJdb Thread of people comparing the horizon and c1. Looks like my memory was correct, general consensus is that the contrast on the horizon is no where near c1 levels.

r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon Ultra for €1100 worth it?

It's very hard to find unbiased opinions in the projector world. You're probably finding that yourself. From what I gather in independent testing the horizons blacks are a bit of a letdown and this can be a deal-breaker. Have a look at the Hisense C1 or C2 and see if you like the look of them better. I remember them scoring higher for this price range on a video review. I will try and find it now, it had breakdowns of lumens, colours etc.

    r/projectors · Advice on Choosing a New Projector (~1000€ Budget)- Formovie X5 - Hisense C1 - Hisense M2 pro -

From the 1st 3 choices I’d go with m2 pro. Has optical zoom, better processor, much faster, brighter, Dolby vision. N1s4k gets very laggy when watching hdr content. From the bottom 3, x1 is brightness, it is not triple laser like C1 or M2 pro. If you need optical zoom than m2 pro is only choice. Overall C1 might be overall best package. If I was buying I’d probably pick m2 pro due to optical zoom needed for my use, better for gaming compared to c1 and being most recent projector from Hisense so probably longer support.

    r/projectors · Time to replace 4k Projector

I went from the TK700sti to a Hisense C1 which recently got fried from lightening and replaced that with a Visionmaster Pro2. I have been very impressed with the Pro2. From a gaming perspective I can’t really tell a huge difference between the 3 but I’m also not competitive enough and play either racing or first person shooters. Color will be much brighter on the laser. The Hisense had some noticeable judder that I dealt with but was even considering selling before it got fried. Pro2 has handled it much better and has shown in reviews to actually be able to handle 24fps. The Hisense offered enough lumens in a light controlled but wasn’t great in dim lights or daytime. The pro2 is on par and possibly brighter than the tk700sti. It is much quieter and turns on quickly and don’t have to worry about a bulb I would say the upgrade is worth it if the budget allows it.

Hey Brian, I have a question about a used projector. I want to get a used version of the benq v7050i (for about $1,500) but cannot afford an automated ALR screen at the moment. How bad would the quality be watching this on a regular wall? I have a Hisense C1 that I’ve been using at way too far a distance on a misshapen wall and have been okay with the image for now. I’m wondering if a UST projector will be different. (We’re moving and the wall will be more even) Also, which automated ALR screen would you suggest? This will be in the living room for casual daytime viewing and there will be lamps on and a window at about 130 degree angle from the projector which I plan to get black out curtains for.

r/projectors · XGIMI Horizon S Pro - There's no reviews out there... but wait...

I might contact customer service, but I'm extremely underwhelmed. The sharpness looks really bad, especially on the native menus, and I was immediately concerned when Windows showed "1920x1080 (Recommended)" on the display settings menu. Game mode is not on, in case it does the 1080p120hz thing. I should mention that the "laser speckle" I talked about with the Hisense probably has nothing to do with laser speckle. I see some flaring around white text especially on backgrounds. It caused enough eye strain that I returned the projector, otherwise I was really happy with the colors, brightness, and sharpness. and... uhhhh... the XGIMI also has it. I feel like I remember the original Horizon Pro (single laser) not having it, but at this point I'm doubting my eyesight. I'll see an optician next week and talk about it. I feel like ordering the Hisense again to compare side by side, but that's asking too much of my bank account. I should also note that with the default settings, the Hisense was a lot brighter and had better contrast, even with the dynamic dimming enabled on the XGIMI, so options are looking like a) give up b) figure out the eye problem and get the C1 again. I doubt I'm keeping this.

I'm sure there will be a lot of C1 advocates out there... It sounds like it's a fantastic projector from what I've read. A few things that helped make my decision. \- No gimble for the C1 and I'm moving my projector around (if there is one, it's an additional cost). \- I read a lot about the C1 fan noise and it kicks in by design every 'x' period, the fan on XGIMI is very quiet it was perhaps .5-1m away from me and I could barely hear it and no increase in fan at full brightness for an entire movie. \- Brightness - there's not a huge difference in brightness on paper, but I kept reading C1 shouldn't be used with much light. For the XGIMI, I've had no issue. It obviously matters what you project on to as well, but given there were no reviews for S Pro, only S Max, I thought I'd take a gamble. C1 was my second choice but it's been around for a while now and the cost just didn't feel like as much value. It was really a debate for the S Max or S Pro in my mind and the £500 or so I've saved feels much more satisfying.

You don't have to and that's fine. It's a Kickstarter so there is some inherit risk, I'm personally not too worried about it. I do feel like they may have underestimated the demand for a projector like this so some may be waiting quite a while for delivery. Reliability isn't likely to be an issue it seems just like with their (initial at least) UST's that Hisense is the one manufacturing the base hardware and AWOL/Valerion makes tweaks to the firmware (like EBL, etc), design a case for it and other customizations. The Hisense C1 has been pretty reliable and it has a very robust cooling design.
